Statement of Purpose to Attend a University
I have lived in San Antonio, Texas my entire life. Most of my family, from my mother's side, still lives here, too. Only two of my cousins have
ventured outside of Texas. Everyone else either lives in San Antonio or surrounding cities. One of my cousins, who still lives in Texas, is
attending Texas State University in San Marcos. He and I are the only two males from my mother's family who have been to college, so we are
each proud of the other, and we know that our family is proud of us. Attending college is a serious pursuit. For years I struggled with attending
college. Happily, having experienced a few rough semesters, I now see the overall college picture. I had a successful and satisfying six months of
college in 2013. My ambition is to continue working diligently to earn a college degree within the next two years. I was a talented musician during
my first twelve years of school. My musical skills enabled me to learn violin, piano, and my all–time favorite, percussion. I was a leader in the high
school band from being in charge of the drum line, earning first division ratings in every UIL solo event I entered, and being elected band president.
My vision was to become a successful contemporary drummer. I performed with various local bands, recorded several albums, took a few tours across
the country, and sought my musical future. However, I learned that although I loved and enjoyed playing music, it was a difficult avenue to a
prosperous career which

Acoustic Guitar Research Paper
So you've decided you want to buy your first beginner acoustic guitar. It can be frustrating trying to figure out which one to buy. With this post I've
tried to make the process a little easier by doing a lot of research for you. All the beginner guitars reviewed for this post are from manufactures that
have a reputation for quality and have been around a long time.
I would advise against buying the cheapest guitar you can find. Even though you're beginning to play the guitar you want a decent sound. You want a
low action so it's easier to play and learn on.
Since the beginner guitar player is usually not going to go out and spend big money on a new acoustic guitar I've taken a look at some guitars under
$400 dollars.

Washburn D10S – If you compare this guitar to others in the price range the Washburn D10S acoustic guitar is in the top of the class. This absolutely
is a great beginner guitar or for someone who wants a good sounding guitar but can't afford to break the bank. I read an article about the Washburn
D10S in Acoustic Guitar Magazine and they rated it the best guitar for under 500 bucks!
4. Seagull the Original S6 – This is another great beginner guitar. It's consistently a top seller at all the online music stores and the Seagull S6 won
the silver medal in Acoustic Guitar magazine's player's choice awards for 2008. It won the gold for "best beginner guitar" in 2006.
The Seagull S6 cedar acoustic guitar is a great–looking a beginner guitar. It's an award winner that has the perfect combination of precision and low
price!
5. Yamaha F335– This is a good guitar to start learning on and will be quite helpful for a beginner guitar player because the action is low. Action
refers to the space between the strings and the fretboard and a low action is much easier to play for the beginner.
The Yamaha F335 guitar sounds pretty good, plays good for the beginner guitar player, and the F335 is the easiest on the budget of the

Acoustic Guitar Review
After a long time of sticking out on a normal guitar amp with the increase amped up and different pedal impacts going ahead on the double the clamor
can begin to go to your head. These are the times that I'm happy I have an acoustic guitar amp to connect to and simply unwind a bit.
My undisputed top choice is the Fender Acoustasonic. The Acoustasonic comes in 15 watt, 90 watt and 150 watt renditions, I for one have the 150 watt
one, and it just creates a standout amongst the most clean sounds I have ever heard. It even has a couple extremely decent elements that I have not seen
on numerous other guitar amps. Not just does it have a the ordinary channel for your guitar however it additionally has a second channel accessible for
a mouthpiece so you can at the same time do guitar and vocals.
On top of the majority of this it just looks stunning. Bumper just nailed the vintage look with this acoustic guitar speaker. Despite the fact that it is on
the more costly side, I would recommend this amp to any devoted guitar player searching for a cleaner guitar amp. Another acoustic guitar speaker ...

Ideal for littler scale shows and even simply lounging around honing the RMS AC40 is amazingly light and compact. This acoustic guitar enhancer
additionally has the seconid channel committed to a mic like the Aoustasonic. The main drawback that I can see with this acoustic guitar amp is that
you can just get a solitary form, 40 watts. It is a little on the costly side contrasted with most other guitar amps yet it is totally justified, despite all the
trouble because of its sonics which are simply amazing. On the off chance that I am ever touchy on which amp I ought to be utilizing, I hop for this one
each and every time, no inquiry. There are way more eminent acoustic guitar enhancers that you ought to likewise consider, for instance the Fender
Frontman or the Behringer

Medical Sonographer Research Paper
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Sonography utilizes sound waves to generate an image that can be analyzed to determine or rule out a diagnosis.
Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard
by the human ear. A diagnostic medical sonographer works directly with patients in a dimly lit room with imaging machines. The sonographer gets the
medical history of the patient and prepares the patient for an ultrasound examination. The sonographer explains the noninvasive procedure and answers
any question the patient might have. The sonographer positions the patient and covers the patient only exposing the area needed for the procedure. The

a dedicated team of health care professionals. Not only do ultrasound technicians receive good health benefits, but they also extend down to their
family as well. This job helps to diagnose people who may be experiencing a disease or an illness. Its real time capabilities allow it to be used for
guiding biopsies and other procedures and can ensure that the best images are gathered during diagnostic scans. The procedures are safe, painless, and
non–invasive. The ultrasound machine is also portable. It can help diagnose a range of conditions in different parts of the body, such as the abdomen,
pelvis, blood vessels, breast, kidneys, muscles, bone and joints. Ultrasounds are used to check the health of a baby during pregnancy. Because
sonographers are part of a patient–facing service, they have the chance to provide a personal touch to patient care. Many ultrasound technicians find

Essay on The History of the Guitar
The Guitar is a stringed musical instrument with six or twelve strings that is played by either plucking or strumming the strings. It is one of the most
popular instruments in the world. If an individual were asked to identify a guitar most people would answer the question correctly more so than they
would if they were asked about another instrument. When people think about famous guitarists, they more than likely think of famous rock and roll
guitarists and do not think about the many other famous guitarists in other musical genres such as jazz or country. Theguitar is a well–known instrument
that influences many musical genres including Country. The origins of the guitar can be traced back to the Arabic oud. The Arabic oud is stringed...

The Guittern was shaped like a violin, played with a pick, and had the ability to be tuned in octaves or in unison. This tuning ability was never used in
other guitar instruments. Compared to the modern day guitar, the Guittern lacked a movable bridge and a saddle. The Guittern was also the first
instrument to use wire strings instead the traditional gut strings used in stringed instruments (Kentor Michael 4).
After the Guittern, the guitar's structure stayed the same and had little changes. One of the slightly improved guitars was called the Ghitarra Battente.
The Ghitarra Battente was the first guitarlike instrument to use a saddle, a movable bridge, and led the trend towards metal frets (4). The Ghitarra
Battente helped the popularity of the guitar grow tremendously. This instrument somewhat slowed down the development and improvements to the
guitar until the 1500s. In the 1500s, the Vinuhela de Mano was introduced to the world. The Vinuhela de Mano is the the largest guitar to date and set
the size for the modern guitar. This instrument had several soundholes on the top of the guitar, was played using a pick, and used gut strings. The
Vihuela de Mano resembles the modern twelve–stringed guitars. The first publication of music for the guitar was published in 1564 and was called
"Tres Libros de Musica en Cifras para Vihuela." After the Vihuela de Mano, many forms of the guitar emerged that improved the structure of the

Physics Of The Acoustic Guitar
String bending blues guitarist and fingerstyle players alike will be comfortable playing the Grand Concert Series 712ce guitar from Taylor. With a
number of premium features, it blends the distinct sound of acoustic guitars with the dynamics of electric guitars. Aside from the ability to plug into
amps, fretting an electric guitar feels very different from fretting on an acoustic. The 712ce has specific design qualities to make the neck more
accessible at higher frets and the strings more bendable. As a result, this guitar is great for eclectic guitarist that don't want to constantly change
instruments for each song.
The Venetian cutaway of this acoustic guitar allows the left hand to access the frets farther up towards the sound hold. These higher fret are otherwise a
challenge to reach, making this guitar well suited for electric guitarists going unplugged. Additionally, the smaller 24–7/8 inch scale length reduces the

Essay on Acoustic Waves in Physics
Acoustic Waves in Physics
An acoustic wave can simply be described as a longitudinal wave. A longitudinal wave is a wave that vibrates and moves in the direction of its
propagation. This means the medium is either in the same or opposite direction of the way the wave travels. Acousticwaves are a form of Mechanical
longitudinal waves; these waves are otherwise known as compression waves or compressional waves. Compressional waves obviously produce
compression, decompression, and rarefaction to travel. In Physics, the acoustic wave has an equation to describe the evolution of acoustic pressure and
particle velocity as a function. The general equation is:

The molecules seem to move when something pushes them and forces the molecules to bump into each other. This process makes the compression and
rare factor that I have talked about before.
Acoustic waves are an isolation of pressure that travel in a wave pattern. Acoustic waves cause a vibration that leads to your ear that allows us to hear.
These acoustic waves are defined by three different characteristics. These characteristics are amplitude, frequency and wave length. Amplitude is the
energy in a wave. The amplitude affects its volume or sound. The number of waves that pass a point at each second, the higher the frequency, the
higher the pitch compared to those who have low frequencies. You can describe these waves as the waves that allow humans and other species to
hear. There is not different types of acoustic waves. The acoustic wave is a longitudinal compressional wave. [8] There are no other kind of acoustic
waves, sometimes they have different equations but that is because some are higher and or stronger than others.
Acoustic waves in fact can be reflected. It is said that the waves can possibly exhibit different sorts of phenomena. Diffraction, interference and
reflection are all examples of phenomena the wave can go through. This brings to topic an important difference between acoustic waves and sound
waves. Without acoustic waves it would be

Simon And Garfunkel: Folk Music Analysis
Simon and Garfunkel was a folk–rock duo that was a part of the 1960's folk revival. Their music evokes certain elements from the folk tradition,
including the use of the strophic form and certain themes, such as family, love, and loss. These themes were very important to the folk tradition
because it was the reason and rhyme behind these songs. As a short example, the song called, The Boxer, released in 1969, stands out as an allegory
for Paul Simon's life. (Enders, 379) However, the element that stands out the most in this song is not the meaning behind it, but the music itself. The
timbres of this song reflect folk tradition, such as the use of acoustic guitars, bass harmonicas, and a soft, steady tapping of the guitar and its strings.
However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Correspondingly, the timbres of this song contain a haunting acoustic guitar, a gritty electric guitar, bass, drums, and the voices of Simon and
Garfunkel. The rhythm of this song has a standard beat, while its form is strophic. The melody of Sound of Silence has an interesting contour
because of the way it rises and falls. This melody gives the song a remorseful, melancholy tone. On the other hand, the harmony of the song has an
interesting texture because of the way it layers instruments on top of each other, such as the electric guitar on top of the acoustic guitar at the
beginning of the song. Overall, this song conveys serious depressing emotions. It is reminiscent of the times when we feel as closed off from the rest
of the world. The "sound of silence," in the song is the sound of loneliness, representing the feeling that no one cares about you, that you are completely
alone. I believe that these emotions hit hard with the people during the 1960's because they have experience those feelings all the time. It reminded
them of how the world, society, is against them just because they are a different race, gender, or sexuality. This song made these minorities want to
fight harder, which is why I think their song gained so much popularity. Further analysis shows, that the 4th Edition of American Popular Music, by
Larry Starr and Christopher Waterman, define folk rock as urban

Blowin In The Wind Compare And Contrast
While being drastically different in content and musical aspects, Peter Paul and Mary's "Blowin' in the Wind" and Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street"
hold surprising similarities. Of course some stem from the fact that both songs were written by Dylan himself, but others come simply as a result of
production, composition, and overall performance. Instrumentally, the songs differ greatly. "Blowin' in the Wind" has a simple acoustic instrumental
that acts as the sole instrument in the song. In fact, the tune played by the guitar is consistent throughout the song, and does not change other than
some slight loudenings and softenings for effect. As a result of this, the voices of the singers guide the song. Contrastingly "Positively 4th Street" has
a complex instrumental played by a whole band. Specifically, it consists of a guitar so heavy that it may as well be opposite to the guitar in "Blowin'
in the Wind" among a flurry of other instruments including electric organ, piano, and a steady drum beat. Additionally, each... Show more content on

The adoption of a band rather than performing alone or with a sole instrument as Peter Paul and Mary did was highly symbolic of a new chapter in
Dylan's career. His introduction of electronic instruments was a break from his folk roots that many found controversial, but that made his music more
appealing to the general public. Contrastingly, the acoustic stylings of "Blowin' in the Wind" were less exciting, yet still effective in gaining
popularity. In truth, based on the lyrical content of "Blowin' in the Wind," it is hard to imagine such a song being played with the pep and excitement

Analysis Of Body Like A Back Road
Throughout history, there has always been some form of music; however, the form and style have changed over time. During the twentieth century,
the gap between classical music and the "popular" music widened, as people picked more of what they thought sounded pleasant. One of the
popular styles today is country and an example is "Body Like a Back Road" by Sam Hunt, which was released in February 2017 as a single from his
upcoming album. "Body Like a Back Road" is a song that has a complex and changing texture which is created by varied musical elements and
composition throughout the piece. Throughout "Body Like a Back Road," the texture shifts depending on the section and the topic. Texture inmusic is
defined as the combination of musical parts to compose the overall feeling and sound of a piece. The first portion of the song has a texture that is
average for the piece, which sets the overall jovial mood for the whole song. This mood is caused by the overlapping of instruments and the rhythm.
The main melody is played by an electric guitar, which is then layered with the acoustic guitar. There is also an organ, drums, and some background
chatter which hooks the listener to listen to the song and makes them want to join whatever else is going on. As the song goes into the first verse,
extra percussion and some bass was added which makes it a more dense texture. Also, the tune shifts to a more hip–hop feel rather than a classic
country feeling which draws in the listener as

The Bands And Music Groups That Are Popular Today
Introduction:
Look at the bands and music groups that are popular today. They use many different instruments to create the songs they present to us. A common
instrument they tend to use is the guitar. Whether it is acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or
country, presenting it's ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies. Although, it is a well known instrument around the
world, people do not appreciate the time and effort it takes to create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it well, but
what about those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars we play? There is a lot that goes into making such a
magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of woodwork and craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don't realize
that there is a lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of mathematics and musical theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar
of great quality. To understand this complex interplay, we must understand:
– the relationship between frequency of sound waves and the pitch of musical notes
– the body of a guitar as an acoustic resonator
– Pythagorean tuning & and the diatonic scale
– the Western chromatic scale as a group of 12 elements closed under transposition in a specific system of tuning
– how to place frets on a guitar using either a mathematical idea

Comparing The Tree And The Chainsaw In Perfect Harmony
The Tree and The Chainsaw in Perfect Harmony... A magazine advertisement, probably doesn't seem like much to any reader, but that one

just mean that the advertisement will make the reader automatically want to purchase any given product that is advertised, this influence can make the

Occasionally an advertisement for a charity will make it a point to tell a story that makes the reader consider taking out their wallet and donate to their

Advantages Of White Noise Machine
Best White Noise Machine: Buyer's Guide
Noise is something that most people would not associate with a good night's sleep. First of all, we sleep to experience a state of peaceful tranquility
that differs greatly from the chaos of our waking day. No one goes to bed thinking, "I wish I could still hear my boss shouting at me or I wish my
partner could snore louder."
However, there is the kind of noise that can block of all the ugly noises that we hear on our head. The sound of the crashing waves of the ocean or the
sound of raindrops can have a calming effect on our heads and we would gladly choose them over the sound of passing cars or bickering neighbors.
This is precisely the reason why those who are in the business of sleep decided to create a machine that produces calming white noise sounds that can
improve the quality of one's sleep. The white noise machine is used as a meditative device to allow the mind to focus on the soothing sound and not on
the unfiltered sounds produced by our surroundings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Song Analysis : Fast Car By Tracy Chapman
Fast Car
Music is often just a medium, utilized by artists, to paint a vivid picture in the minds of the listener. As a listener, often you can be caught off guard
by the artists ability to do so. In the song fast car by Tracy Chapman, the incredible singer/songwriter will do just that. She will render an image so
graphic, and so dramatic, that you will swear that you were walking in the shoes of the woman she sings about in her song. The gracefully flowing
melody and emotionally evolving lyrics transport you through an undeniably extraordinary journey of joy and sorrow, all within the confines of a four
minute and fifty–nine second song.
Fast Car by Tracy Chapman is a powerful song about a young woman who is endevouring to make it by in life. She is living a very poor, and
underpriviledged lifestyle, her father is an alcoholic, and her mother withdrew from her life to make a better life for herself. Unfortunately, that is the
only thing that this young woman wants to do, make a better life for herself. With her father being sick and stuck to the bottle, she is forced to drop
out of school and take care of him. Dreaming of running away and starting a new life was the only thing that was keeping her going.
Within the first two verses of the song, this young woman presents an issue that is all to common for many people. She has big dreams and wants to
make a name for herself but in order to succumb to making that dream a reality, she would have to desert the loved ones

Personal Narrative: Preparing Off To Topeka, Kansas
Growing up, I was quite snobby about a lot of things, but music in particular was quite bad. Classic rock, grunge, pop–punk, and metal were "real"

The Basic Properties of Sound Essay
First of all, a sound source radiates power and this results in a sound pressure, where the sound power is the 'cause' and sound pressure is the 'effect'.
But still, we always have to keep in mind that sound cannot travel through vacuum, simply, because sound propagates as a wave, which creates
'compressions' and 'rarefactions', as it interacts with the particles of the medium. If there is no medium, then there are no particles and of course, there
is no interaction wave–particles interaction and as a result, no sound is produced. This specific fact, was proven by Robert Boyle (17th century), a
researcher who showed through multiple experiments, that a bell, ringing in vacuum medium cannot be heard. We have to mention here, that sound...

The unit of frequency in SI (System International) is the hertz (Hz), where one hertz is equivalent to one cycle per second. Human beings can hear
sound from vibrating objects in the range between 20–20.000 Hz (this range may vary depending on age, health, e.t.c.). Pitch, on the other hand is the
human sensation of frequency, the ability to tell the difference between different frequencies of sound, which are organized into classes of pitches. A
high pitch sound corresponds to a high frequency sound wave and a low pitch sound corresponds to a low frequency sound wave. In music, pitch is a
technical term, used to describe how high or low a note is.
Intensity vs Loudness
Sound intensity is defined as the sound power per unit area. We usually measure the intensity in a vertical direction (90o) in relation to a given unit
area, through which the sound energy is flowing. Intensity is very useful in locating sound sources, since it provides a measure of direction and
magnitude (SI unit: W/m2). The most common and easiest alternative way to measure sound intensity is by using the logarithmic decibel (dB) scale.
The threshold of hearing is assigned a sound level of 0 dB (1*10–12 W/m2). A sound 10 times more 'intense' corresponds to a sound level of 10dB, a
sound 100 times more intense corresponds to a sound level of 20dB and finally, a sound 1000 times more intense corresponds to a sound level of

Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the combined effects of coloured lighting and ambient sound on mood. 48 psychology undergraduates,
comprising of 38 females and ten males, took part in this study. This study is a 2x2 between subjects design. The coloured lightings used in this study
are blue and yellow combined with the ambient sound of 'city' and 'nature' whereas mood was measured with the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule

Difference Between Incus And Stape
When you hear a fire engine siren, the sound waves from the truck enters your ear canal and vibrates your eardrum. Then the vibrations go to the
central part of the eardrum connected to a small bone of the middle ear called the malleus. Then as the malleus vibrates, it transmits sound waves to the
incus and stapes. The incus and stapes are two small bones that are part of the middle ear. They are also called ossicles. As the stapes move, it pushes
the oval window in and out.
This movement is passed to an auditory inner ear that functions to convert sound vibrations into neural messages. This inner ear is called the cochlea.
Then the spiral organ Corti, which is located in the cochlea, is sent into action every time the oval window

How Music Affects Society
Traditional, culture, and identity– how can music affect human life?
I chose this topic because music is a history, a culture and everything. Music is a very important role in our daily life. Maybe most of the people

Not all music are good to the society I am not saying that all music are bad, The generation these days in music like pop and rap the music is good
but some of the lyrics in the music are using inappropriate language, sexually, and negative behavior. Many people nowadays are having parties, and

Acoustic Guitar Research Paper
Energy of the Acoustic Guitar
Energy is the capacity of a physical system performing work. It exists in an abundant amount of forms such as sound, electrical, chemical,
gravitational, and kinetic. Sound is the movement of energy through a medium, typically air or water, that travels in waves due to vibrations caused by
an object or person. Har–Mose, the Ancient Egyptian singer who owned the oldest known preserved guitar–like instrument found 3500 years ago
would never know what his creation evolved into. The guitar is an ancient noble instrument whose history can be traced back thousands of years. The
acoustic guitar today has a flat–backed rounded body that narrows in the middle, a long fretted neck and usually six strings requiring no electronic
amplification. The acoustic guitar has had a major impact on society as scientific research has proven that playing an instrument can lead to an increase
in confidence and cooperation, both valuable skills. In most music genres the guitar is known to be the most prominent instrument played. Every type
of acoustic guitar produces a unique sound from the material of the string, composition of the body and the air between them. This makes the acoustic
guitar one of the most popular instrument as it is adaptable with its vibrant sounds and energy it produces. The acoustic guitar is a very energetic
instrument because of the physical structure of the guitar, the intensity of the sounds, the way the human ear perceives the sounds and how

Standing Waves Lab
Introduction:
In this lab the speed of sound was found by using standing waves. A tube with a speaker at the top of it was playing at a constant frequency. As the
speaker played, the tube filled with water. The reflections in this lab caused destructive interference. When waves reflect and they are on two sides of
the medium the sound cancels out and there is no noise. Where this occurs it is called a node and with the nodes the wavelength could be measured
because the distance between two nodes is a half a wavelength. The lab was conducted with standing waves because it ensures the nodes and antinodes
are stationary and easy to measure. This lab would not have been possible with other types of waves that did not have stationary nodes. The ... Show

Therefore, if a node was in between two points on the ruler the exact measurement would have been slightly off. This could have either increased or
decreased the wavelength, but would have a minimal effect on the final velocity. Another source of error is that thefrequency was not exact because
people had to decide when the sound was lowest by using their ears. Without any instruments to calculate this, it is very difficult for someone to
precisely find where a sound is the lowest. Again, this error would have a small impact on the results of the lab, but it could have accounted for
some of the 5% change in velocity. Another possible way to measure the speed of sound would be going into a large area and having one person yell
while other people stand a certain distance away. Everyone would time how long it takes for them to hear the person yelling. Then, to find the speed of
the sound the distance would be put over the time it took to hear the noise. Although this lab would have possible sources of error including human
reaction time and other factors, a constant velocity should be

Best Guitar Strings
After breaking one of my guitar strings broke on my Fender Stratocaster, I decided that I needed to do some more research on my next set. Turns out
that there are hundreds of different strings varying by everything to the coating to size. So I did what any human would do and googled "Best Guitar
Strings".
What I concluded is that there is **no** single answer!
Guitarist tend to choose their string based on quite a few things: How they want their music to sound, whether that means using distortion or having a
"clean" feel, use string bending, play fingerstyle, how forceful they are, how much oils and salts seems to impact string life and sound, and how much
they're willing to spend.
On electric guitars, the most ofter used string diameter is a "extra–light" gauge. This set of strings starts with at .010 for the high E. Some guitarist that
prefer a lighter touch and do a ton of string bending will use a "super–light" set where the high E will start at .009.
On the other side, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
.009, .010. and .011. They all have ups and downs with Heavier strings breaking less from rigorous playing and Lighter being easier on the fingers for
bending.
Now You also have coating options but I'm not going to go into that today beside saying that the High–Tech coating that are more expensive and add
little string life for the price.
What do I use?
I just swapped from Dunlop Electric Nickel Wound (.009) to the Ernie Ball "Regular Slinky" (.010). I found the .009s to be a little light for my
liking and they gave a lot of "popping" or "snapping" when played against the frets. From what I've read .010 gauge strings seem to be a great middle
ground among guitarist compromising on many aspects of the "super–light" and the "light".
What would I recommend?
Really you just have to play around with some different gauges and see which ones fit you. It all depends on the player. For your first set you can't go
wrong with the .010

Analysis Of Fast Car By Tracy Chapman
Fast Car by Tracy Chapman is a powerful song about a young woman who is endeavoring to make it by in life. She is living a very poor, and
underprivileged lifestyle, her father is an alcoholic, and her mother withdrew from her life to make a better life for herself. Unfortunately, that is the
only thing that this young woman wants to do, make a better life for herself. With her father being sick and stuck to the bottle, she is forced to drop
out of school and take care of him. Dreaming of running away and starting a new life was the only thing that was keeping her going.
Within the first two verses of the song, this young woman presents an issue that is all too common for many people. She has big dreams and wants to
make a name for herself, but to succumb to making that dream a reality, she would have to desert the loved ones that have made

The atmosphere of the studio was incredible. The only words to describe the atmosphere was angelic, electric, and amazing. Every single knob from
the master mixer sitting on the table to the smooth sound of the bass coming through the industrial speakers. It was any recording artist sanctuary and
refuge. The lights that changed colors from blue to green and finally to red. I wasn't sure how a recording studio could feel like a club but be as calm
and relaxed as a tennis match.
The smell was almost harmonious. As the air was filled with thick marijuana smoke i took a seat on the couch as i observed what was happening.

emotion of being tired and give the sister, Clair a better argument. Her interactions with her father would be more vibrant and full of life. To achieve
the slight differences in the present soundscape, less cars and people would be heard in the background of the ambience. Having the cars heard be

Four Dimensionssions Of Film Sound In The 1960's Film Psycho
Answer 1:
There are four dimensions of film sound that can be found in this clip from the 1960's film Psycho, these are rhythm, fidelity, space, and time. When
directing this scene Alfred Hitchcock had to make a lot of decisions regarding sound in it. Each of these choices has different implications and will
affect the audience differently.
Let's start with fidelity, I believe Hitchcock purposely implemented a lot of fidelity in this scene. I think he used common and familiar environmental
sounds in the background while Marion was completing mundane tasks before entering the shower. This is apparent when Marion ripped a piece of
paper out of a notebook, tore it up, and then flush it down the toilet. Hitchcock chose to allow the audience to hear these sounds for a few reasons.
First, it provides the viewer with a more complete experience. Second, it keeps the viewer's attention more present because the scene is more realistic
and natural. Lastly, Hitchcock used these sounds as the camera followed Marion to the shower, this allows time and action to continue smoothly over a
series of shots making the temporal duration rhythmic.
Next is space and how sound affects the viewer's perspective of it. While in the shower the loudest noise is the water falling, after a few seconds the
viewer gets used to the tranquil sound of the water falling. By making the sound of the water so loud it makes the viewer feel like they are close,
maybe even in the shower. Loudness is related to

Music Analysis: The Thrill Of It All
With the release of The Thrill of it All Sam Smith continues to impress audiences with his otherworldly vocals that gets the toes tapping and the
fingers snapping. This album is a prime example of what Sam Smith is all about with its ВЁdance and cry songsВЁ, as he says, and the variety of
soul, pop, and R&B music. Sam uses these musical practices in all of his songs in the album, which are mostly about heartbreak and bouncing
back, with the occasional sit back and drink song. The variety of the songs is not very large but the lyrics are all so different and powerful that you
can get hooked very easily. The major theme that is impressed upon the listener is that Sam has had a terrible love life with heartbreak and despair. He
can convey these feelings and emotions with words so exceptionally because of his voice that the listener can feel his sadness or happiness at any given
moment in the song. His songs have so much content full of emotion that they are usually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his favorite type of song. These "dance and cry songs" are also a story book of Sam's life of heartbreak and loss having never had a true lover, which is
shown in "Say it First". "Say it First" is an example of how nobody had told him they loved him first and it was always a one sided relationship which
is expressed very well through his vocals. With these songs you can really see the impact of a lonely life on Sam and his songs because of the how

The Electric Guitar In The 1920's
Music reflects the cultural trends and artistic inspiration of that current time. Because of how rapidly changing society is, music has shifted through
different stages quickly and thus has had the need for innovation. The electric guitar was born out of necessity to keep up with the musical trends of
the 1920's and has since been a powerful influence in driving the music we have today. Contemporary music has been strongly influenced by the
Electric Guitar. It is staple instrument that is used in nearly every genre and within every time period of the last century. Arguably, the Fender
Stratocaster has solidified its legacy as the most iconic instrument in contemporary music. In this paper, I will argue that the success of the Electric

During the early 1800's Madrid was a thriving artistic centre which a huge emphasis on the arts. The guitar was meant to be used as a tool for serious
composers, Many notable composers such as Ferandiere, Moretti, and Abreu were making music reflective of the political turmoil that was happening
in Europe at the time (Tyler 330). The modern guitar can be divided into the components of the strings, the soundboard, and the soundbox. Overall,
these components make up the system of using a guitar. When a guitar string is plucked, it vibrates and creates a pressure wave consisting of
compressions and rarefactions. It is then transmitted by fluctuating air pressure. Because the strings are attached to the soundboard, the sound is able to
able to communicate the vibrations better. The sound is then naturally amplified through the soundhole, which projects the vibrations to an audible

That being said, around the 3.40 mark, the solo appears to become more indulgent, and more of an acquired taste than before. Thankfully, the
saxophone returns at 4.20, with the riff used in the earlier saxophone solo, and pulls the jam back into a more melodic territory. That is followed by a
few short riffs in free time, before returning to the main riff for a third verse around 5.50. The main riff is repeated until about 6.40, when the song
slowly starts accelerating, finishing in 20 seconds of psychedelic cacophony – which is simply too much for many listeners.
The second track, "I Talk to the Wind", provides a mellow rest after the dense amalgamation of noises towards the conclusion of the first track. The
song starts with a flute, before a double–tracked harmony vocal begins the main section of the song. It is a slow ballad, where the complex drum lines
are a lot lower in the mix, which allows for a softer, more melodic direction. Fripp's use of a dark and jazzy guitar timbre lets the guitar's harmonics
provide a smooth accompaniment for the vocals and wind instruments. The major 7 chords also provide a slightly jazzy feel, before moving to an F#
minor 7, to resolve to a B major. This minor 7 gives a great suspended feel (in place of a Bsus4), allowing Lake's vocals to follow a more fluid path.

Music Classes At School And School
It was an early August afternoon the sun was shining bright; the air was warm and crisp. I was chilling in the living room when my Mom walked
in; she was standing their holding an old black worn out guitar case. I was now old enough to sign up for music classes at school, and was in the
process of deciding what instrument I wanted to play. I was hoping to play Sax, Drums, or Electric Guitar. I open up the case disappointed at first to see
it was just an old wooden jasmine acoustic guitar, but still stoked that I could now join the band at school. I thanked my Mom for the guitar, and
picked it up; placing my fingers on the frets seeing if I could get any sort of sound out of it. Over the next couple of weeks I continued to mess
around with the guitar seeing what it was capable of. In the fall I join the guitar class at school; it was great to have a teacher there that was able to
explain how everything should be played the difference between playing signal notes, and chords, how to adjust your fingers to make certain notes
come out clearly. I began practicing thirty minutes every day mastering the techniques my teacher had shown me, and quickly began to catch up with
students in my class twice my age.
I guess you could say that's where my journey as a guitar player began, but it was what happened in the spring of 2010 that change my life forever.

Abstract The purpose of the experiment was to find the objective difference between an original song and an acoustic or a remix version of the same
song. The expectation was that the difference lies in the amount of contrast between the highest and lowest amplitude. Sound waves are created when an
object vibrates back and forth and they have amplitudes, wavelengths, and frequencies. Sixty songs were analyzed in Audacity, amusic program. Using
the output, their amplitudes were measured and compared with other versions having clean audio and the same artist. Most of the data supported the

The outliers to this was Lips Are Moving, Viva la Vida, Take me to Church, and Ice Ice Baby. A possible reason for this is differences between
recording circumstances. All artists have different equipment and that impacts the sound quality. Unfortunately, this is a variable that couldn't have
been manipulated due to lack of resources and remains an issue in the experimental design. The recording of Lips Are Moving especially had
unusably low Greatest Amplitude readings: 0.20, 0.17, and 0.18 cm. This is probably a flawed recording, not a program error, because all three trials
were outliers and the rest of the songs had different results. Ideally, in future experiments, all the artists should be brought in to one studio and had them

Hospital noise is more than an annoyance. It disrupts patient sleep, creates spikes in blood pressure, and hinders wound healing and pain management.
The post–partum unit at North Fulton Hospital has installed a traffic light device that reinforces awareness of the need for a quieter atmosphere by
monitoring the noise level and turning from yellow to red as it rises. Even with this added device, noise consistently gets the worst marks on patient
surveys. Noise–reduction efforts really gained momentum recently, when Medicare began basing a portion of hospital reimbursement on quality
measurements including patient ratings of the quality of care (Landro, 2013). Additional measures need to be put in place in order to improve quality
care by reducing distracting noises. White noise amplified through an intercom or machine will make the typical sounds become less obtrusive or
obvious to the patient.

Ears Have Walls by Steven Connor Essay
Intro:
In Steven Connor's 'Ears Have Walls: On Hearing Art' (2005) Connor presents us with the idea that sound art has either gone outside or has the
capacity to bring the outside inside. Sound work makes us aware of the continuing emphasis upon division and partition that continues to exist even in
the most radically revisable or polymorphous gallery space, because sound spreads and leaks, like odour. Unlike music, Sound Art usually does not
require silence for its proper presentation. Containers of silence called music rooms resonate with the aesthetics and affects on the body of a gallery
space; white walls, floorboards to create optimum acoustics, and an ethereal sense of time and space. When presented in a gallery space, sound art's ...

We walk around and we move through constantly changing soundscapes, different types of music, different genres of music overlap all the time.... So
the gallery is the total, immersed experience and hopefully that transforms the gallery from what we think of as being a rather sterile space for showing
art to something which is much more alive and human.'
A desire for non–separation of sound artworks can make for an overwhelming but strangely relieving or refreshing gallery experience. Even though
Toop was excited for the possibility of the overlapping of sound objects which could leak into each other, some artworks including the scarcely audible
scratchings and susurrations of Max Eastley's ethereal metal figures were at risk of being swamped by the glorious but omnipresent headachy bruise of
the sound that throbbed from Pan Sonic's low frequency installation. Connor reveals that, the solution was a traditional one. Putting up extra walls
within the gallery space to form 'auditory membranes' could insulate and contain the different sound events.

Acoustic Guitar Artifact
When an archaeologist finds an item, they wonder how old it is and how it connects to the culture. Artifacts help archaeologists to determine how
people lived in the past, and thus artifacts are bits of information that reveal a bigger picture of the culture in where the item was found. An artifact is
a portable object that people made and used. For instance, a guitar can be considered an artifact because it is a portable object made by a human. An
acoustic guitar is an instrument that produces sounds by transmitting vibrations of the strings to the air as opposed to relying on electric amplification.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy
How are sound waves useful in medical technology to solve our inability to see and treat medical conditions inside the human body?
Sound waves have played a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Clinical examination alone isn't enough to diagnose
certain medical presentations. Ultrasound enables us to look beneath the skin at internal organs and pathological conditions. Ultrasound therapy, more
precisely know as extracorporeal shock wave therapy, is used for treating, rather than diagnosing, medical conditions.
In diagnostic ultrasound examinations, very high frequency (1 to 5 megahertz) sound waves are directed at the body's internal structures from a probe

Physics of an Acoustic Guitar Essay
Physics of an Acoustic Guitar
I have been watching my husband play the guitar in a band for five years and he has made it look so easy to make such beautiful music. Most guitar
players have progressed with the technology of electric guitars, but when my husband picks up an acoustic guitar and starts to play a song for just me,
I hear his love for me in the sounds that he produces. Imagine my surprise when a physics class conveyed to me that there was much more to his playing
than I had imagined.
The sound that a guitar makes is easily recognizable to many people because the physics of the acoustic guitar is mostly universal. The noticeable
distinctions are the result of various wavelengths and the harmonics that are created by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An antinode is present at the furthest amplitude above the string and at the furthest amplitude below the wave. A full wavelength has two nodes and
two antinodes. On a fixed string, nodes are created at both ends, so the fundamental, or longest, wavelength that could be produced, would be twice the
length of the guitar string. Harmonics are determined by "whole number multiples of the fundamental wavelength."3 They can vary in speed and have
any number of wavelengths that can be generated with nodes at both ends. For example, the first harmonic would be a full wavelength and have two
nodes and two antinodes. Each additional harmonic would add an additional half of a wavelength to the string.
The relationship between the wavelength and the speed of the wave creates different frequencies from the guitar. The frequency is the number of
wavelengths that occur per second. The equation is set up as the frequency equals the speed of the waves divided by the wavelength, or f = u В§ l .
Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) and humans can generally hear between 20Hz and 20,000Hz, depending on the individual.
The various frequencies formed on a guitar are attributed to the difference in the strings on the guitar. The strings, in order from the bottom to the top,
are: E, B, G, D, A, and E. Their fundamental frequencies are listed respectively as: 329.6Hz, 246.9Hz, 196Hz, 146.8Hz, 110Hz, and

Statement Of Purpose To Attend A University

  • 1. Statement of Purpose to Attend a University I have lived in San Antonio, Texas my entire life. Most of my family, from my mother's side, still lives here, too. Only two of my cousins have ventured outside of Texas. Everyone else either lives in San Antonio or surrounding cities. One of my cousins, who still lives in Texas, is attending Texas State University in San Marcos. He and I are the only two males from my mother's family who have been to college, so we are each proud of the other, and we know that our family is proud of us. Attending college is a serious pursuit. For years I struggled with attending college. Happily, having experienced a few rough semesters, I now see the overall college picture. I had a successful and satisfying six months of college in 2013. My ambition is to continue working diligently to earn a college degree within the next two years. I was a talented musician during my first twelve years of school. My musical skills enabled me to learn violin, piano, and my all–time favorite, percussion. I was a leader in the high school band from being in charge of the drum line, earning first division ratings in every UIL solo event I entered, and being elected band president. My vision was to become a successful contemporary drummer. I performed with various local bands, recorded several albums, took a few tours across the country, and sought my musical future. However, I learned that although I loved and enjoyed playing music, it was a difficult avenue to a prosperous career which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Acoustic Guitar Research Paper So you've decided you want to buy your first beginner acoustic guitar. It can be frustrating trying to figure out which one to buy. With this post I've tried to make the process a little easier by doing a lot of research for you. All the beginner guitars reviewed for this post are from manufactures that have a reputation for quality and have been around a long time. I would advise against buying the cheapest guitar you can find. Even though you're beginning to play the guitar you want a decent sound. You want a low action so it's easier to play and learn on. Since the beginner guitar player is usually not going to go out and spend big money on a new acoustic guitar I've taken a look at some guitars under $400 dollars. They're all top sellers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Washburn D10S – If you compare this guitar to others in the price range the Washburn D10S acoustic guitar is in the top of the class. This absolutely is a great beginner guitar or for someone who wants a good sounding guitar but can't afford to break the bank. I read an article about the Washburn D10S in Acoustic Guitar Magazine and they rated it the best guitar for under 500 bucks! 4. Seagull the Original S6 – This is another great beginner guitar. It's consistently a top seller at all the online music stores and the Seagull S6 won the silver medal in Acoustic Guitar magazine's player's choice awards for 2008. It won the gold for "best beginner guitar" in 2006. The Seagull S6 cedar acoustic guitar is a great–looking a beginner guitar. It's an award winner that has the perfect combination of precision and low price! 5. Yamaha F335– This is a good guitar to start learning on and will be quite helpful for a beginner guitar player because the action is low. Action refers to the space between the strings and the fretboard and a low action is much easier to play for the beginner. The Yamaha F335 guitar sounds pretty good, plays good for the beginner guitar player, and the F335 is the easiest on the budget of the

Acoustic Guitar Review After a long time of sticking out on a normal guitar amp with the increase amped up and different pedal impacts going ahead on the double the clamor can begin to go to your head. These are the times that I'm happy I have an acoustic guitar amp to connect to and simply unwind a bit. My undisputed top choice is the Fender Acoustasonic. The Acoustasonic comes in 15 watt, 90 watt and 150 watt renditions, I for one have the 150 watt one, and it just creates a standout amongst the most clean sounds I have ever heard. It even has a couple extremely decent elements that I have not seen on numerous other guitar amps. Not just does it have a the ordinary channel for your guitar however it additionally has a second channel accessible for a mouthpiece so you can at the same time do guitar and vocals. On top of the majority of this it just looks stunning. Bumper just nailed the vintage look with this acoustic guitar speaker. Despite the fact that it is on the more costly side, I would recommend this amp to any devoted guitar player searching for a cleaner guitar amp. Another acoustic guitar speaker ... The main drawback that I can see with this acoustic guitar amp is that you can just get a solitary form, 40 watts. It is a little on the costly side contrasted with most other guitar amps yet it is totally justified, despite all the trouble because of its sonics which are simply amazing. On the off chance that I am ever touchy on which amp I ought to be utilizing, I hop for this one each and every time, no inquiry. • 6. Essay on The History of the Guitar The Guitar is a stringed musical instrument with six or twelve strings that is played by either plucking or strumming the strings. It is one of the most popular instruments in the world. If an individual were asked to identify a guitar most people would answer the question correctly more so than they would if they were asked about another instrument. When people think about famous guitarists, they more than likely think of famous rock and roll guitarists and do not think about the many other famous guitarists in other musical genres such as jazz or country. This tuning ability was never used in other guitar instruments. Compared to the modern day guitar, the Guittern lacked a movable bridge and a saddle. The Guittern was also the first instrument to use wire strings instead the traditional gut strings used in stringed instruments (Kentor Michael 4). After the Guittern, the guitar's structure stayed the same and had little changes. One of the slightly improved guitars was called the Ghitarra Battente. The Ghitarra Battente was the first guitarlike instrument to use a saddle, a movable bridge, and led the trend towards metal frets (4). The Ghitarra Battente helped the popularity of the guitar grow tremendously. This instrument somewhat slowed down the development and improvements to the guitar until the 1500s. In the 1500s, the Vinuhela de Mano was introduced to the world. The Vinuhela de Mano is the the largest guitar to date and set the size for the modern guitar. This instrument had several soundholes on the top of the guitar, was played using a pick, and used gut strings. The Vihuela de Mano resembles the modern twelve–stringed guitars. With a number of premium features, it blends the distinct sound of acoustic guitars with the dynamics of electric guitars. Aside from the ability to plug into amps, fretting an electric guitar feels very different from fretting on an acoustic. The 712ce has specific design qualities to make the neck more accessible at higher frets and the strings more bendable. As a result, this guitar is great for eclectic guitarist that don't want to constantly change instruments for each song. The Venetian cutaway of this acoustic guitar allows the left hand to access the frets farther up towards the sound hold. A longitudinal wave is a wave that vibrates and moves in the direction of its propagation. This means the medium is either in the same or opposite direction of the way the wave travels. Acousticwaves are a form of Mechanical longitudinal waves; these waves are otherwise known as compression waves or compressional waves. Compressional waves obviously produce compression, decompression, and rarefaction to travel. These acoustic waves are defined by three different characteristics. These characteristics are amplitude, frequency and wave length. Amplitude is the energy in a wave. The amplitude affects its volume or sound. The number of waves that pass a point at each second, the higher the frequency, the higher the pitch compared to those who have low frequencies. You can describe these waves as the waves that allow humans and other species to hear. There is not different types of acoustic waves. The acoustic wave is a longitudinal compressional wave. • 9. Simon And Garfunkel: Folk Music Analysis Simon and Garfunkel was a folk–rock duo that was a part of the 1960's folk revival. Their music evokes certain elements from the folk tradition, including the use of the strophic form and certain themes, such as family, love, and loss. These themes were very important to the folk tradition because it was the reason and rhyme behind these songs. As a short example, the song called, The Boxer, released in 1969, stands out as an allegory for Paul Simon's life. (Enders, 379) However, the element that stands out the most in this song is not the meaning behind it, but the music itself. The timbres of this song reflect folk tradition, such as the use of acoustic guitars, bass harmonicas, and a soft, steady tapping of the guitar and its strings. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Correspondingly, the timbres of this song contain a haunting acoustic guitar, a gritty electric guitar, bass, drums, and the voices of Simon and Garfunkel. The rhythm of this song has a standard beat, while its form is strophic. The melody of Sound of Silence has an interesting contour because of the way it rises and falls. This melody gives the song a remorseful, melancholy tone. On the other hand, the harmony of the song has an interesting texture because of the way it layers instruments on top of each other, such as the electric guitar on top of the acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song. Overall, this song conveys serious depressing emotions. It is reminiscent of the times when we feel as closed off from the rest of the world. The "sound of silence," in the song is the sound of loneliness, representing the feeling that no one cares about you, that you are completely alone. I believe that these emotions hit hard with the people during the 1960's because they have experience those feelings all the time. It reminded them of how the world, society, is against them just because they are a different race, gender, or sexuality. This song made these minorities want to fight harder, which is why I think their song gained so much popularity. • 10. Blowin In The Wind Compare And Contrast While being drastically different in content and musical aspects, Peter Paul and Mary's "Blowin' in the Wind" and Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" hold surprising similarities. Of course some stem from the fact that both songs were written by Dylan himself, but others come simply as a result of production, composition, and overall performance. Instrumentally, the songs differ greatly. "Blowin' in the Wind" has a simple acoustic instrumental that acts as the sole instrument in the song. In fact, the tune played by the guitar is consistent throughout the song, and does not change other than some slight loudenings and softenings for effect. As a result of this, the voices of the singers guide the song. Contrastingly "Positively 4th Street" has a complex instrumental played by a whole band. Specifically, it consists of a guitar so heavy that it may as well be opposite to the guitar in "Blowin' in the Wind" among a flurry of other instruments including electric organ, piano, and a steady drum beat. Additionally, each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His introduction of electronic instruments was a break from his folk roots that many found controversial, but that made his music more appealing to the general public. Contrastingly, the acoustic stylings of "Blowin' in the Wind" were less exciting, yet still effective in gaining popularity. • 12. Analysis Of Body Like A Back Road Throughout history, there has always been some form of music; however, the form and style have changed over time. During the twentieth century, the gap between classical music and the "popular" music widened, as people picked more of what they thought sounded pleasant. One of the popular styles today is country and an example is "Body Like a Back Road" by Sam Hunt, which was released in February 2017 as a single from his upcoming album. "Body Like a Back Road" is a song that has a complex and changing texture which is created by varied musical elements and composition throughout the piece. Throughout "Body Like a Back Road," the texture shifts depending on the section and the topic. Texture inmusic is defined as the combination of musical parts to compose the overall feeling and sound of a piece. The first portion of the song has a texture that is average for the piece, which sets the overall jovial mood for the whole song. This mood is caused by the overlapping of instruments and the rhythm. The main melody is played by an electric guitar, which is then layered with the acoustic guitar. There is also an organ, drums, and some background chatter which hooks the listener to listen to the song and makes them want to join whatever else is going on. As the song goes into the first verse, extra percussion and some bass was added which makes it a more dense texture. Also, the tune shifts to a more hip–hop feel rather than a classic country feeling which draws in the listener as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Bands And Music Groups That Are Popular Today Introduction: Look at the bands and music groups that are popular today. They use many different instruments to create the songs they present to us. A common instrument they tend to use is the guitar. Whether it is acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or country, presenting it's ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies. Although, it is a well known instrument around the world, people do not appreciate the time and effort it takes to create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it well, but what about those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars we play? There is a lot that goes into making such a magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of woodwork and craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don't realize that there is a lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of mathematics and musical theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar of great quality. To understand this complex interplay, we must understand: – the relationship between frequency of sound waves and the pitch of musical notes – the body of a guitar as an acoustic resonator – Pythagorean tuning & and the diatonic scale – the Western chromatic scale as a group of 12 elements closed under transposition in a specific system of tuning – how to place frets on a guitar using either a mathematical idea ... This seemingly magical power of influence does not just mean that the advertisement will make the reader automatically want to purchase any given product that is advertised, this influence can make the reader not want to buy something, like in the graphic tobacco advertisements that strive to scare into the readers the dangerous outcomes of tobacco. Occasionally an advertisement for a charity will make it a point to tell a story that makes the reader consider taking out their wallet and donate to their cause. The particular advertisement that I selected comes from the February 2017 issue of Alternative Press Magazine and is focused on persuading readers to consider purchasing an acoustic guitar from their company and what makes them better or different from other manufacturers, through use of appeals and grabbing the reader's attention even a subtle yet effective manner. However, there is the kind of noise that can block of all the ugly noises that we hear on our head. The sound of the crashing waves of the ocean or the sound of raindrops can have a calming effect on our heads and we would gladly choose them over the sound of passing cars or bickering neighbors. This is precisely the reason why those who are in the business of sleep decided to create a machine that produces calming white noise sounds that can improve the quality of one's sleep. But still, we always have to keep in mind that sound cannot travel through vacuum, simply, because sound propagates as a wave, which creates 'compressions' and 'rarefactions', as it interacts with the particles of the medium. If there is no medium, then there are no particles and of course, there is no interaction wave–particles interaction and as a result, no sound is produced. This specific fact, was proven by Robert Boyle (17th century), a researcher who showed through multiple experiments, that a bell, ringing in vacuum medium cannot be heard. The unit of frequency in SI (System International) is the hertz (Hz), where one hertz is equivalent to one cycle per second. Human beings can hear sound from vibrating objects in the range between 20–20.000 Hz (this range may vary depending on age, health, e.t.c.). Pitch, on the other hand is the human sensation of frequency, the ability to tell the difference between different frequencies of sound, which are organized into classes of pitches. A high pitch sound corresponds to a high frequency sound wave and a low pitch sound corresponds to a low frequency sound wave. In music, pitch is a technical term, used to describe how high or low a note is. Intensity vs Loudness Sound intensity is defined as the sound power per unit area. We usually measure the intensity in a vertical direction (90o) in relation to a given unit area, through which the sound energy is flowing. Intensity is very useful in locating sound sources, since it provides a measure of direction and magnitude (SI unit: W/m2). The most common and easiest alternative way to measure sound intensity is by using the logarithmic decibel (dB) scale. The threshold of hearing is assigned a sound level of 0 dB (1*10–12 W/m2). A sound 10 times more 'intense' corresponds to a sound level of 10dB, a sound 100 times more intense corresponds to a sound level of 20dB and finally, a sound 1000 times more intense corresponds to a sound level of ... • 20. Difference Between Incus And Stape When you hear a fire engine siren, the sound waves from the truck enters your ear canal and vibrates your eardrum. Then the vibrations go to the central part of the eardrum connected to a small bone of the middle ear called the malleus. Then as the malleus vibrates, it transmits sound waves to the incus and stapes. The incus and stapes are two small bones that are part of the middle ear. They are also called ossicles. As the stapes move, it pushes the oval window in and out. This movement is passed to an auditory inner ear that functions to convert sound vibrations into neural messages. This inner ear is called the cochlea. Then the spiral organ Corti, which is located in the cochlea, is sent into action every time the oval window ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Acoustic Guitar Research Paper Energy of the Acoustic Guitar Energy is the capacity of a physical system performing work. It exists in an abundant amount of forms such as sound, electrical, chemical, gravitational, and kinetic. Sound is the movement of energy through a medium, typically air or water, that travels in waves due to vibrations caused by an object or person. Har–Mose, the Ancient Egyptian singer who owned the oldest known preserved guitar–like instrument found 3500 years ago would never know what his creation evolved into. The guitar is an ancient noble instrument whose history can be traced back thousands of years. The acoustic guitar today has a flat–backed rounded body that narrows in the middle, a long fretted neck and usually six strings requiring no electronic amplification. The acoustic guitar has had a major impact on society as scientific research has proven that playing an instrument can lead to an increase in confidence and cooperation, both valuable skills. In most music genres the guitar is known to be the most prominent instrument played. Every type of acoustic guitar produces a unique sound from the material of the string, composition of the body and the air between them. This makes the acoustic guitar one of the most popular instrument as it is adaptable with its vibrant sounds and energy it produces. • 23. Standing Waves Lab Introduction: In this lab the speed of sound was found by using standing waves. A tube with a speaker at the top of it was playing at a constant frequency. As the speaker played, the tube filled with water. The reflections in this lab caused destructive interference. When waves reflect and they are on two sides of the medium the sound cancels out and there is no noise. Where this occurs it is called a node and with the nodes the wavelength could be measured because the distance between two nodes is a half a wavelength. The lab was conducted with standing waves because it ensures the nodes and antinodes are stationary and easy to measure. This lab would not have been possible with other types of waves that did not have stationary nodes. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, if a node was in between two points on the ruler the exact measurement would have been slightly off. This could have either increased or decreased the wavelength, but would have a minimal effect on the final velocity. Another source of error is that thefrequency was not exact because people had to decide when the sound was lowest by using their ears. Without any instruments to calculate this, it is very difficult for someone to precisely find where a sound is the lowest. Again, this error would have a small impact on the results of the lab, but it could have accounted for some of the 5% change in velocity. Another possible way to measure the speed of sound would be going into a large area and having one person yell while other people stand a certain distance away. Everyone would time how long it takes for them to hear the person yelling. Then, to find the speed of the sound the distance would be put over the time it took to hear the noise. Although this lab would have possible sources of error including human reaction time and other factors, a constant velocity should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Turns out that there are hundreds of different strings varying by everything to the coating to size. So I did what any human would do and googled "Best Guitar Strings". What I concluded is that there is **no** single answer! Guitarist tend to choose their string based on quite a few things: How they want their music to sound, whether that means using distortion or having a "clean" feel, use string bending, play fingerstyle, how forceful they are, how much oils and salts seems to impact string life and sound, and how much they're willing to spend. On electric guitars, the most ofter used string diameter is a "extra–light" gauge. This set of strings starts with at .010 for the high E. • 29. Four Dimensionssions Of Film Sound In The 1960's Film Psycho Answer 1: There are four dimensions of film sound that can be found in this clip from the 1960's film Psycho, these are rhythm, fidelity, space, and time. When directing this scene Alfred Hitchcock had to make a lot of decisions regarding sound in it. Each of these choices has different implications and will affect the audience differently. Let's start with fidelity, I believe Hitchcock purposely implemented a lot of fidelity in this scene. I think he used common and familiar environmental sounds in the background while Marion was completing mundane tasks before entering the shower. This is apparent when Marion ripped a piece of paper out of a notebook, tore it up, and then flush it down the toilet. Hitchcock chose to allow the audience to hear these sounds for a few reasons. First, it provides the viewer with a more complete experience. Second, it keeps the viewer's attention more present because the scene is more realistic and natural. Lastly, Hitchcock used these sounds as the camera followed Marion to the shower, this allows time and action to continue smoothly over a series of shots making the temporal duration rhythmic. Next is space and how sound affects the viewer's perspective of it. While in the shower the loudest noise is the water falling, after a few seconds the viewer gets used to the tranquil sound of the water falling. By making the sound of the water so loud it makes the viewer feel like they are close, maybe even in the shower. Loudness is related to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I open up the case disappointed at first to see it was just an old wooden jasmine acoustic guitar, but still stoked that I could now join the band at school. I thanked my Mom for the guitar, and picked it up; placing my fingers on the frets seeing if I could get any sort of sound out of it. Over the next couple of weeks I continued to mess around with the guitar seeing what it was capable of. In the fall I join the guitar class at school; it was great to have a teacher there that was able to explain how everything should be played the difference between playing signal notes, and chords, how to adjust your fingers to make certain notes come out clearly. I began practicing thirty minutes every day mastering the techniques my teacher had shown me, and quickly began to catch up with students in my class twice my age. I guess you could say that's where my journey as a guitar player began, but it was what happened in the spring of 2010 that change my life forever. Up until the age of fourteen I was your average middle school age guitarists jamming out too Blink 182, and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Wave Patterns The Effect Mixing Has on the Wave Patterns of a Song Anna Rezhko Grade 10 Woodbridge High School January 16, 2014 Miss Cooper Abstract The purpose of the experiment was to find the objective difference between an original song and an acoustic or a remix version of the same song. The expectation was that the difference lies in the amount of contrast between the highest and lowest amplitude. Sound waves are created when an object vibrates back and forth and they have amplitudes, wavelengths, and frequencies. Sixty songs were analyzed in Audacity, amusic program. Using the output, their amplitudes were measured and compared with other versions having clean audio and the same artist. Most of the data supported the hypothesis by stating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The outliers to this was Lips Are Moving, Viva la Vida, Take me to Church, and Ice Ice Baby. A possible reason for this is differences between recording circumstances. All artists have different equipment and that impacts the sound quality. Unfortunately, this is a variable that couldn't have been manipulated due to lack of resources and remains an issue in the experimental design. The recording of Lips Are Moving especially had unusably low Greatest Amplitude readings: 0.20, 0.17, and 0.18 cm. This is probably a flawed recording, not a program error, because all three trials were outliers and the rest of the songs had different results. Ideally, in future experiments, all the artists should be brought in to one studio and had them record in the exact same circumstances with the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nr 452 White Noise Barriers Research Paper Noise Barriers: White Noise NR 452 Erika Howe Chamberlain College of Nursing Professor Anthony Young White Noise in Post –Partum Assessment Hospital noise is more than an annoyance. It disrupts patient sleep, creates spikes in blood pressure, and hinders wound healing and pain management. The post–partum unit at North Fulton Hospital has installed a traffic light device that reinforces awareness of the need for a quieter atmosphere by monitoring the noise level and turning from yellow to red as it rises. Even with this added device, noise consistently gets the worst marks on patient surveys. Noise–reduction efforts really gained momentum recently, when Medicare began basing a portion of hospital reimbursement on quality measurements including patient ratings of the quality of care (Landro, 2013). Additional measures need to be put in place in order to improve quality care by reducing distracting noises. White noise amplified through an intercom or machine will make the typical sounds become less obtrusive or obvious to the patient. On the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A patient experience case study was done at St. Francis Hospital to address the specific issue of noise. Over a nine month period this facility incorporated many innovations to successfully target this problem. Direct feedback from patients determined that a combination of many actions helped to make the noise reduction successful. This included white noise machines in rooms, quiet voices by all staff members, signs on doors as a reminder to keep noise levels decreased, and dimming lights during night shifts ("Transforming Care", 2014). In order to create this culture of quiet, collaborative efforts need to be made and would ultimately contribute to higher satisfaction scores at North Fulton ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the pitch rises, it is getting sharp whereas getting flat when pitch drops. • 38. Ears Have Walls by Steven Connor Essay Intro: In Steven Connor's 'Ears Have Walls: On Hearing Art' (2005) Connor presents us with the idea that sound art has either gone outside or has the capacity to bring the outside inside. Sound work makes us aware of the continuing emphasis upon division and partition that continues to exist even in the most radically revisable or polymorphous gallery space, because sound spreads and leaks, like odour. Unlike music, Sound Art usually does not require silence for its proper presentation. Containers of silence called music rooms resonate with the aesthetics and affects on the body of a gallery space; white walls, floorboards to create optimum acoustics, and an ethereal sense of time and space. When presented in a gallery space, sound art's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We walk around and we move through constantly changing soundscapes, different types of music, different genres of music overlap all the time.... So the gallery is the total, immersed experience and hopefully that transforms the gallery from what we think of as being a rather sterile space for showing art to something which is much more alive and human.' A desire for non–separation of sound artworks can make for an overwhelming but strangely relieving or refreshing gallery experience. Even though Toop was excited for the possibility of the overlapping of sound objects which could leak into each other, some artworks including the scarcely audible scratchings and susurrations of Max Eastley's ethereal metal figures were at risk of being swamped by the glorious but omnipresent headachy bruise of the sound that throbbed from Pan Sonic's low frequency installation. Connor reveals that, the solution was a traditional one. Putting up extra walls within the gallery space to form 'auditory membranes' could insulate and contain the different sound events. 2nd PARA: Sound is an integral part of being and orientates us in the world. Sound is exploratory rather than merely metric or analytic, because sound does not give us just the outline or contour of things – their size, shape and position – but also gives us the sense of their quality, or their relation to us: their texture, density, resistance, porosity, wetness, absorptiveness. Artifacts help archaeologists to determine how people lived in the past, and thus artifacts are bits of information that reveal a bigger picture of the culture in where the item was found. An artifact is a portable object that people made and used. For instance, a guitar can be considered an artifact because it is a portable object made by a human. An acoustic guitar is an instrument that produces sounds by transmitting vibrations of the strings to the air as opposed to relying on electric amplification. My guitar as any other acoustic guitar has the same dimensions. My guitar brand is Albanez which is made of wood but it has steel strings, and the body is a brick color in the inside and toward the outside is black. The steel strings have shaper sounds than the nylon strings which have a mellow sound. One of the parts of the guitar that is changed constantly are the strings as they become dull with use. However, I admit it my guitar has patterns of use wear. It is more noticeable in the fret as that is the part that I hold the most. In the fret the polish is coming out and there seems to be some apparent scratches of my nails. There are also scratches all over for leaving it uncovered or left behind in the car. The polish in the body is coming out because it is becoming old. The head of the guitar has a part that is chipped off because when I was coming out of the car my guitar hit a tree. Similarly, the bottom has a small dent as I dropped into the floor. Nevertheless, my guitar is still my companion in music and it works ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sound waves have played a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Clinical examination alone isn't enough to diagnose certain medical presentations. Ultrasound enables us to look beneath the skin at internal organs and pathological conditions. Ultrasound therapy, more precisely know as extracorporeal shock wave therapy, is used for treating, rather than diagnosing, medical conditions. In diagnostic ultrasound examinations, very high frequency (1 to 5 megahertz) sound waves are directed at the body's internal structures from a probe placed in contact with the skin (Ultrasound scan, ... • 41. Physics of an Acoustic Guitar Essay Physics of an Acoustic Guitar I have been watching my husband play the guitar in a band for five years and he has made it look so easy to make such beautiful music. Most guitar players have progressed with the technology of electric guitars, but when my husband picks up an acoustic guitar and starts to play a song for just me, I hear his love for me in the sounds that he produces. Imagine my surprise when a physics class conveyed to me that there was much more to his playing than I had imagined. The sound that a guitar makes is easily recognizable to many people because the physics of the acoustic guitar is mostly universal. The noticeable distinctions are the result of various wavelengths and the harmonics that are created by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An antinode is present at the furthest amplitude above the string and at the furthest amplitude below the wave. A full wavelength has two nodes and two antinodes. On a fixed string, nodes are created at both ends, so the fundamental, or longest, wavelength that could be produced, would be twice the length of the guitar string. Harmonics are determined by "whole number multiples of the fundamental wavelength."3 They can vary in speed and have any number of wavelengths that can be generated with nodes at both ends. For example, the first harmonic would be a full wavelength and have two nodes and two antinodes. Each additional harmonic would add an additional half of a wavelength to the string. The relationship between the wavelength and the speed of the wave creates different frequencies from the guitar. The frequency is the number of wavelengths that occur per second. The strings, in order from the bottom to the top, are: E, B, G, D, A, and E. Their fundamental frequencies are listed respectively as: 329.6Hz, 246.9Hz, 196Hz, 146.8Hz, 110Hz, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
