2. Why is branding important?
• Branding is hugely important as it develops an image for the
artist. Branding is something that represents the artists style and
allows people to identify products to the artist. Their branding is
often linked to there demographic through the use of colours,
images, fashion, make up and location.
• In my branding I have aimed it towards the young adult late teen
demographic. This is clearly represented through the use of bright
bold colours and large cartoon fonts. Also on the digipak it is full
of photos that have lyrics on to make the audience interested.
This is not something I think would be very effective on a younger
market.
3. How effective was your branding on your
artist?
• I think that my branding was highly effective due to the fact that I maintained a
consistent image throughout. I matched the colour scheme of my poster to the
colour scheme of my Digipak. I edited the pictures I had taken to include elements
of MRS.BEE’s core colour scheme. I maintained consistent use of fonts thorough out
my digipak and my digipak poster so it is clear to the audience that they are linked.
I used a mix of white black and minty green throughout my branding to make sure
that all the colours worked well together and made certain elements pop. I
bordered my artists name in black to make it really pop on the screen. I also
highlighted aspects of the album on the digipak poster in the green colour so that it
is clear to the audience what is what. I altered the back ground colour of my
digipak cd and poster to make it pop. Originally it was a blue colour but I altered it
to have more of a pop of colour so that it would appear to the dance genre more.
• For my video I maintained a use of font as I included the same font in the title as on
my digipak to make all of the products tie in together. I also used a consistent
element of location as all of my ancillillary tasks used urban settings so I felt it
important to have a flow and maintain this use of urban setting
4. What is the most important part about
branding your artist?
• I think that it is important to represent you key image to maintain your brand
while also creating new elements of that image to keep fans and viewers
interested in what is to come.
• I think that it is important for artists to maintain a similar theme / appearance
as it makes them easily recognisable to viewers. This Is why I maintained a
similar these of colours and fonts throughout my digipak.
• Another important part about tying all of the branding into one is through
consistency. In all of my ancillary tasks MRS.BEE is very feminine. I highlighted
this with the use of a low angled shot to give her authority in the shot. She also
sings about heartbreak and female independence which is an element I wanted
to carry through into the music video through the idea of her being a strong
independent female. A way that I portrayed this is through the use of costume
as we didn’t sexualise her which is something commonly seen in the dance
world. We also showed her immense confidence performing in public without a
care in the world.
5. Target audience
• My chosen target audience was the young adult market. I consider
this market to be 16 to 25 year olds. More tailored to =ward the 1
/ 19 mark. The whole branding is aimed more at a female market
through the the feminine songs and elements of the video. Men
can also enjoy this branding it is just aimed to pull a larger female
market.
• The key message throughout the branding is that it is ok to be who
u want to be and you shouldn’t be ashamed. Be happy, be
confident and be strong. So there is no real reason why anyone
wouldn’t enjoy the video and ancillary pieces.
