Mean girls
1. Mean Girls
This film is about a girl that moves from South Africa
to the USA. She begins her first day at school and she
makes friends with the wrong crowd, “The Plastics”.
She ends up finding herself in a lot of trouble but then
also humiliating herself at the same time when the
Burn Book gets found out by the teachers, it gets even
more serious.
2. Mean Girls- This scene is when the protagonists parents are shown at the very
beginning whilst the protagonist is speaking in the background about her life before
she moved from South Africa
Protagonists
parents are
shown.
Camera angle
is at a low
shot as if they
are speaking
to the
audience.
This is very
effective as
we get an
almost 180
degree shot
here with the
camera being
in front.
The father holding
a brown bag to
which we then find
out is the lunch for
the protagonist.
Implying her youth
and her first day at
school.
The mother is smiling here
looking almost proud. We get an
insight of her parents’ kindness.
We see trees above
them making it obvious
the camera shot is
below.
The trees could
imply a very
relaxing
environment.
3. Mean girls- This is still at the very beginning of the film, we are shown the protagonist
going into this new school.
The camera angle is a front view
and is shot at her heights angle. We
see the protagonists face almost
looking confused and slightly
concerned
We here see
the
protagonist is
very new to
this school
looking
worried and is
shown alone.
Even though
the
protagonist is
shown alone,
behind her the
camera shot
has taken the
other people
out of focus.
We can see it
is a very
typical busy
school
environment.
There are
people
stood in
groups,
implying
the school
is friendly
but the
protagonist
has yet to
make
friends
4. Mean girls- This scene is when the protagonist has found a group of girls to eat lunch
with. We are shown the protagonist and the ‘new friend’ in this screenshot.
This is a new
character we
are
introduced
to, this
camera shot
is straight
towards
them as a
front angle.
Although,
she has
moved her
head to the
side looking
at the
protagonist
in a
shameful
way.
We see the
protagonist
, with the
same front
camera
angle shot.
But she is
looking
downward
s towards
her lunch.
Clearly not
happy with
something
We see more people in the background. They are out
of focus from the camera though and we instantly
notice the main focus of this scene is the protagonist
and her friend. We see yet again a busy school
environment, but still very social.
