The UAE, along with partners from Antigua and Barbuda, New Zealand, and the CDF, will invest $5.7 million to build a solar power plant on Barbuda to restore electricity after Hurricane Irma destroyed 95% of the island in 2017. The hybrid solar-diesel plant will be hurricane-resistant and displace 260,000 liters of diesel fuel annually, saving the government $320,000 per year. The project supports Barbuda's green tourism industry and climate resilience.
