* The complex politics of global warming results from
numerous cofactors arising from the global economy's
interdependence on carbon dioxide (CO2).
*climate change is a case of the 'tragedy of the commons'.
*Emitting hydrocarbon and CO2 is directly implicated in
global warming making global warming a non-traditional
environmental challenge.
3. Politics of Global Warming :An overview
*Politicization of climate science: The focus
areas for global warming politics are
Adaptation, Mitigation, Finance,
Technology and Losses which are well
quantified and studied but the urgency of the
global warming challenge is ignored.
*Implications to all aspects of a nation-state's
economy, releases green House Gases and
CO2.
* Perceived lack of adequate advanced
energy technologies
*Increasing rate of Industrialization of the
developing world.
*Vulnerable developing countries and
developed country legacy emissions.
*Consensus-driven global governance
models: The global governance institutions
and consensus driven deliberative forums
where agreement is difficult to achieve and
even when agreement is achieved it is
almost impossible to enforce;
*Well organized and funded special-interest
lobbying bodies
4. Global warming In Bangladesh
*It is projected that, by 2020, from 500 to 750 million people will be affected by water stress caused by climate
change around the world. Low-lying coastal regions, such as Bangladesh, are vulnerable to sea level rise .
*Bangladesh, yields from rain-fed agriculture could be reduced to 50 percent by 2020. this will have an adverse
effect on food security.
*Climate change in Bangladesh is a pressing issue. According to National Geographic Bangladesh is one the
most vulnerable nations to the impacts of climate change.
*by 2100,2/3percent ice of Himalayan melted down that will rise up 2% Temperature in world
*by 2030, South Asia could lose 10 percent of rice yields, while may have experience a 50 percent reduction in
crop yield.
*According to IPCC,Biodiversity and coastal land will be affected. World Bank indicates that 28% people are died
of from environmental disease.
5. Recommendations for Policy and Initiatives
*Linkage between UNFCCC and Domestic Environmental policy.
*Comprehensive mitigation scheme and Intergovernmental Policy
Initiatives for adaptation and mitigation.
*Public attachment: According to Economists, "Bringing down
emissions of greenhouse gases asks a good deal of people, not least
that they accept the science of climate change. It requires them to
make sacrifices today so that future generations will suffer less, and
to weigh the needs of people who are living far away."
6. *Implications of International environmental
law with CTBT and reducing anomic project.
*National Biodiversity Safety Strategy and
Action Plan.
*Sustainable Development Environmental
protection. Eco Friendly Development and
using natural solar power.
