For my ancillary task I have created three different products based
around the song ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry. These products for my
ancillary task have consisted of making a music video, a digipak of
an album for the song that we used for our music video from the
album it came from and also a magazine advertisement to advertise
the album itself.
All the ancillary products all had to be linked together which that
meant all the products were based on the artist called Katy Perry and
on also for her latest album called ‘Prism’. My digipak and magazine
don't fit in with the music video because that is a narrative and Katy
Perry isn't featured in the video so I had to go around ways to make
sure everything linked together . For my digipak and Magazine
advertisement I have used similar designs, colours, fonts and photos
to make them look like they are linked together more.
I looked at the colours, design and fonts for my digipak and
magazine advertisement rather closely for both of the digipak and
advertisement have the same fonts and colours and themes used on
them.
In our group we all decided to create a realism narrative
music video based on bullying. We wanted to show
awareness and the effects that bullying cause a person to
feel isolated. The video that we have created shows
awareness for an anti-bullying campaign, it shows that
people don’t have to feel alone if they are being bullied
or they are the bully and that there is help to get through
a difficult stage in their life's if they are effected by what
they see in our video.
We created a music video using the song Roar by Katy Perry and we also had
to make sure our digipak and magazine advertisement had influences from
Katy Perry in them. As the music video was created around Katy Perry’s song
‘Roar’ from the album Prism, we all had to make sure that our digipak and the
advertisement all looked like a product that influenced in way by Katy Perry’s
style. In advance to the making process I researched and created a mood board
on how Katy Perry poses, how her makeup is done, how her hair is done and
her dress style, this helped me a lot in what as I had researched into the style of
Katy Perry. After researching into the style of Katy Perry and looked carefully
at how she is represented in magazines and her Cds, In school me and my
group set up a photo shoot in our photography club using a member in our
group called Jodie as our model. We all had different styles we wanted achieve
for these photos to use for our ancillary products. In school we set up a photo
shoot in our photography club using a the white wall as the background, we
decided to use the wall to make it look more professional like some of the
photos Katy Perry are in. In school we are fortunate enough to be able to used
professional lighting the photos., and we also used professional equipment for
these photos such as the lighting box, atranslucent umbrella and also gold and
silver reflectors to make the photos look professional as possible with a white
wall behind Jodie using it as green screen where if we anted to change the
colour of the background a different colour when editing together the ancillary
tasks.
I haven’t used the theme throughout all my ancillary tasks, the
music video is totally different to my digipak and magazine
advertisement. The link between them all is Katy Perry’s song that
I have used for the music video and for the digipak for her album
that the song I used for my music video came of, also the
magazine advertisement is linked together by the album called
‘Prism’. They link together due to the lyrics being in the song,
after you have seen the music video you will understand the other
two products. The music video is dull, and depressing due to the
them of isolation and bullying, at the end of the video it resolved
to happiness and that is why my digipak and magazine is full of
colour because there is a light at the end of the tunnel when under
going bullying and isolation. I have used a black and white
picture for the front of my digipak because in the film there is
black and white flask backs so the digipak reflects the music video
through my digipak due to the black and white effect in both
products.
Once the photo shoot had finished and we had all taken our photos to be used four
digipak and magazine advertisement we chose the photos which we thought were
suitable for our ancillary tasks, I started the edit process into making my products,
before I had done this I had looked ant existing CD advertisements and magazine
advertisements so I knew what the convections of these ancillary task needed. By
looking at existing products I created my own digipak from several influences. I include
a bar code on the back of my digipak because I had looked many existing ones which
also had the same, I included the track list because that also had it on other existing
products.
Before any of the photo shoot had happened I created a mood board on the way Katy
Perry is represented which had a massive influence on the photos I had taken. By
looking at this I knew the convergence of the way Katy Perry is shown in magazines. I
decided to create a colourful magazine advertisement due to the ending of our music
video, which is shown in my digipak also. I decided to use bright vibrant colours
because I had looked at Katy Perry’s prismatic tour which was bright, colourful and
space themed with shooting lazar beams and that also influenced me to show the
convergence of this side of Katy Perry using my own photos for my CD magazine
advertisement.
The layout on both my magazine and digipak pack is clear because I have used the
same writing, colour, and logo on the both of them to show that they are linked together
clearly.
I believe that the combination of my ancillary tasks are effective because I have looked
at Katy Perry closely and I think that I have represented Katy Perry quite well in my
magazine and digipak but have gone against the conventions of Katy Perry in the music
video by it being a narrative.

  • 2. For my ancillary task I have created three different products based around the song ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry. These products for my ancillary task have consisted of making a music video, a digipak of an album for the song that we used for our music video from the album it came from and also a magazine advertisement to advertise the album itself. All the ancillary products all had to be linked together which that meant all the products were based on the artist called Katy Perry and on also for her latest album called ‘Prism’. My digipak and magazine don't fit in with the music video because that is a narrative and Katy Perry isn't featured in the video so I had to go around ways to make sure everything linked together . For my digipak and Magazine advertisement I have used similar designs, colours, fonts and photos to make them look like they are linked together more. I looked at the colours, design and fonts for my digipak and magazine advertisement rather closely for both of the digipak and advertisement have the same fonts and colours and themes used on them.
  • 3. In our group we all decided to create a realism narrative music video based on bullying. We wanted to show awareness and the effects that bullying cause a person to feel isolated. The video that we have created shows awareness for an anti-bullying campaign, it shows that people don’t have to feel alone if they are being bullied or they are the bully and that there is help to get through a difficult stage in their life's if they are effected by what they see in our video.
  • 4. We created a music video using the song Roar by Katy Perry and we also had to make sure our digipak and magazine advertisement had influences from Katy Perry in them. As the music video was created around Katy Perry’s song ‘Roar’ from the album Prism, we all had to make sure that our digipak and the advertisement all looked like a product that influenced in way by Katy Perry’s style. In advance to the making process I researched and created a mood board on how Katy Perry poses, how her makeup is done, how her hair is done and her dress style, this helped me a lot in what as I had researched into the style of Katy Perry. After researching into the style of Katy Perry and looked carefully at how she is represented in magazines and her Cds, In school me and my group set up a photo shoot in our photography club using a member in our group called Jodie as our model. We all had different styles we wanted achieve for these photos to use for our ancillary products. In school we set up a photo shoot in our photography club using a the white wall as the background, we decided to use the wall to make it look more professional like some of the photos Katy Perry are in. In school we are fortunate enough to be able to used professional lighting the photos., and we also used professional equipment for these photos such as the lighting box, atranslucent umbrella and also gold and silver reflectors to make the photos look professional as possible with a white wall behind Jodie using it as green screen where if we anted to change the colour of the background a different colour when editing together the ancillary tasks.
  • 5. I haven’t used the theme throughout all my ancillary tasks, the music video is totally different to my digipak and magazine advertisement. The link between them all is Katy Perry’s song that I have used for the music video and for the digipak for her album that the song I used for my music video came of, also the magazine advertisement is linked together by the album called ‘Prism’. They link together due to the lyrics being in the song, after you have seen the music video you will understand the other two products. The music video is dull, and depressing due to the them of isolation and bullying, at the end of the video it resolved to happiness and that is why my digipak and magazine is full of colour because there is a light at the end of the tunnel when under going bullying and isolation. I have used a black and white picture for the front of my digipak because in the film there is black and white flask backs so the digipak reflects the music video through my digipak due to the black and white effect in both products.

Once the photo shoot had finished and we had all taken our photos to be used four digipak and magazine advertisement we chose the photos which we thought were suitable for our ancillary tasks, I started the edit process into making my products, before I had done this I had looked ant existing CD advertisements and magazine advertisements so I knew what the convections of these ancillary task needed. By looking at existing products I created my own digipak from several influences. I include a bar code on the back of my digipak because I had looked many existing ones which also had the same, I included the track list because that also had it on other existing products. Before any of the photo shoot had happened I created a mood board on the way Katy Perry is represented which had a massive influence on the photos I had taken. By looking at this I knew the convergence of the way Katy Perry is shown in magazines. I decided to create a colourful magazine advertisement due to the ending of our music video, which is shown in my digipak also. I decided to use bright vibrant colours because I had looked at Katy Perry’s prismatic tour which was bright, colourful and space themed with shooting lazar beams and that also influenced me to show the convergence of this side of Katy Perry using my own photos for my CD magazine advertisement. The layout on both my magazine and digipak pack is clear because I have used the same writing, colour, and logo on the both of them to show that they are linked together clearly. I believe that the combination of my ancillary tasks are effective because I have looked at Katy Perry closely and I think that I have represented Katy Perry quite well in my magazine and digipak but have gone against the conventions of Katy Perry in the music video by it being a narrative.
