Editor's Notes
Internet marketing starts from a web site. Tonight, I will cover the following areas: -- Building a site -- Promote your site -- Make your site usable -- Make use the web usage report
Web site is the online presence of your business. Many businesses start from simple “brochure” web sites. Only a few static pages, display some information about the business. Even the simplest kind of web site, if designed professionally, content being carefully crafted, can help establish credibility, also educate their new customers of the products and services.
You can and you should “Make your web site WORK for you”. Here are some common ways of how web sites can “WORK”:
Next, I will show you some real examples: the features that we have built for our own site, or our clients site. First example is a feedback form. This is very easy to implement, with or without database. Yet, it can only collect user data, but also give your user a way to communicate with you, hence give him/her a better experience with your site and your business. You can decide what information to collect. It’s always a good idea to mark required fields. Besides the user information, you can also ask questions you are interested in. In our case, we asked about what information the user like to get. You can also ask questions like “where did you hear about us”, etc. It’s important to give user a sense of security. Nowadays, people are overwhelmed by the spams and are very cautions when give their emails away. So you can add a link to your privacy statement, or simply a line of text. After the feedback form is submitted, display a thank-you screen acknowledge that the feedback has been submitted. Give a time frame of when you will response. Then, very importantly, get back to the user within your promised time frame.
There are more dynamics features you can choose for your business. Or have custom features built specifically for your needs.
As the Internet matures, Internet users are getting more and more comfortable making purchase online. Not only the businesses who sell regular commodities wish to sell online, but also other businesses like to give their clients the convenience of making payment online for events, workshops, even whitepapers. To many business owners, how to set up an Ecommerce site is still a mysterious procedure. What is involved? How much it’s going to cost? There are three major things you need to consider for setting up an Ecommerce site.
So now I have talked about building web site. The next step is to get people come to the site. The most basic and important thing to do is SEO.
Getting your site a good natural ranking can take time, the quickest way to get search engine exposure is through paid search marketing. Your site will be displayed as a sponsored link.
