The Project Management And Software Manufacturer Of The...
The current project has been undertaken by Provision Healthcare Technologies, a hardware and
software manufacturer of the patient image wands. The company has just released its latest
consignments of wands to the market and there will not be any release for the next eight months.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to bring a regulation regarding the specifications of the
safety of patients while manufacturing the wands. As the government 's move is to be abided strictly,
Provision has to fix the issues with the manufacturing of wands and modify the hardware and the
software to follow the recommendations. It has to incorporate the functionality with latest designs
before it plans its next release.
Knowledge areas of project management
As per the Project Management Institute (PMI), there is a standard practice for venture
administration, distributed in a record called 'A Guide to the Project Management Body of
Knowledge '. It characterizes that the venture administration life cycle says the stages or process
bunches connected with a venture. These learning gatherings are ordered under starting procedures,
arranging forms, executing forms, controlling procedures and shutting forms.
These gatherings are isolated into nine information territories that can be further partitioned into 39

The Open Office Project Essay
The Open Office Project (OOP) is part of an open–source project called Open Office developed by
Sun Microsystems. "The OpenOffice.org project is primarily sponsored by Sun Microsystems,
which is the primary contributor of code to the Project. Our other major corporate contributors
include Novell, RedHat, RedFlag CH2000, IBM, and Google. Additionally, over 450,000 people
from nearly every curve of the globe have joined this Project with the idea of creating the best
possible office suite that all can use" (Open Office, 2013). Basically the OPP software mirrors the
software suite of products offered by Microsoft. Open Office Project is very similar to Microsoft

The utilization of OOP for the J. Smith & Associates (JSA) furniture & equipment project could be
useful with additional training of the OOP software. The JSA furniture & equipment project will
follow the Traditional Project Management (TPM) approach. The Linear Project Management Life
Cycle Model is the most appropriate TPM. The project follows scope, plan, launch, monitor &
control and close processes and the OOP are well suited for a linear project. With easier access to
the project plan via lap tops or hand held internet access devices the full project plan becomes
portable. Changes and updates through OOP will automatically update other documents affected by
these events. The client or senior management can access project plan at any time to follow the
progress of the operation.
The OOP software functions as a scheduler allowing a software user the ability to visualize former,
current and future events. This is very useful tool to follow up with subcontractors to insure their
readiness for their phase of the project. Additional OOP functions can assist with the monitoring and
control of subcontractor's actions.
Many large scale operations only use whiteboards and post–it notes with a high level of

Software development methodology to improve planning and scheduling in web development.
Introduction
Now a days Software is an essential part of the modern society. Most of the business companies,
government, organizations using IT systems in their operations. But most of the information system
projects frequently fail because of the failure to meet the user requirements, insufficient budget,
poor communication, poor planning and scheduling, lack of quality assurance and do not have a
standard project management methodology etc.
According to the project management Solution (2011) survey shows that "$74 million in projects are
at risk each year in the average firm surveyed (37% of the total value of projects closed)". And 22%

Methodology
Agile Scrum
Scrum is an agile software development model that work in with a multiple small development
teams Specifically Scrum is the fastest–growing framework for effective team collaboration on
complex projects.
According to the (Deemer and Benefield , 2007) Scrum product development methodology
structured cycles of work called "Sprints" iterations of work which are typically 1–4 weeks in
length, and which take place one after the other. Furthermore these sprints are fixed duration with a
fixed date whether the work has been completed or not, these dates are never extend for any reason.
At the beginning of the each sprint development team select the task from the requirement list and
commit to complete the task by the end of the Sprint.
Further (Deemer and Benefield , 2007) describes that at the begging of the each spring project
development team tack place a sprint planning meeting. In the first sprint

Principles Of Kanban Methodology
Today Kanban methodology is especially popular in software development. But few people know
that it was invented for other industry. Kanban originated in Japan in 1940s. Of course there was no
software industry at that time. The methodology was invented by the employees of Toyota
Corporation as a project management tool. It was aimed at improving the quality of production and
minimizing the terms of its delivery. In 1940s delivery of certain production to the customer just in
time was a great problem. The companies that implemented Kanban project management system
performed this task successfully regardless of the conditions.
The success of Kanban methodology can be explained by the fact that it is based on three main
principles.
The first principle says that a Kanban team must consider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Kanban development methodology is defined as one of the Agile methods. It has been extremely
popular among software developers in recent years. Partially that is because of its unique ability to
manage any projects. If you use Kanban for software development, you are able to create the
product of supreme quality within the shortest amount of time. In most cases that is just what any
customer and user needs.
Like any other Agile software development methodology, Kanban is based on strong customer and
user involvement into the workflow. As we have already mentioned, consideration of the customer
demands was the main principle of Kanban methodology even before it applied to software
development. In this industry it was improved even more. Kanban is a software development
methodology with the greatest range of customer involvement into its projects. In Kanban the
customer participates at the process of work constantly. Usually he is represented by a man named
the Product Owner. He is responsible for gathering user stories and prioritizing them in the product

Software Architecture And Methodology As A Tool For...
ABSTRACT Nowadays, traditional software processes have slowly taken the place of agile software
Processes. This is mostly because of traditional processes have limitations, which holds a slow
modification to quickly changing requirements, and a proclivity to go over cost of project and get
late back in schedule. This paper explains objectives, pros, and cons of agile and traditional
processes. It is also briefly describing the Unified Process as well as common elements of the Scrum
process model. Lastly, it is proposing a new Component Integrated process model which integrates
the Scrum process from agile and Unified Process from convential process. This new CIM process
model will adapt the pros of both processes at the same time it will ... Show more content on

These are some reason that traditional processes replace agile processes mainly in small and simple
projects. This is happening because of traditional methods' limitations and deficiencies, which
includes a slow adaptation to business requirements changes, and a tendency to go over budget and
as well as behind schedule. The traditional methods also lack in providing improvements in
simplicity, productivity and reliability phenomena's. Despite of these limitations, traditional methods
are widely used by many software developers in projects. Traditional methods are capable to
provide high assurance, predictability, and stability and their nature is structural, straightforward,
and methodological. Agile processes mainly focus on incremental as well as iterative development.
Also, frequent deliveries after each sprints and customer collaboration are key element of Agile.
Agile process has many advantage such as short lifecycle, low bug–rate, high customer satisfaction,
and fast adaptation to changing requirements. Despite the fact that agile process has many
advantages, Software Organizations still using traditional process and not jumping into agile. We
have summarized the characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses and issues of the conventional and
agile methods in below Table1. Table1. Comparison between Conventional and Agile Methods As

application, everybody should be collaborating with each other at every stage of developing the
application, these are the key points about agile methodology, with the agile methodology the
changes can be made without getting the entire program rewritten, this approach not only reduced
over heads it also helps in upgrading of programs, the other advantage of agile methodology it
ensures that bugs are caught and eliminated in the development of each cycle and the project is
tested every time. There are different types of agile methodologies they are XP (extreme process),
Scrum, Lean software development, AUP (agile unified process), FDD (feature driven development)
all these agile methodologies are customer driven and are light weight approaches, they are
collocated and collaborative for developers, in the view of customers this method is dedicated,

Modern And Modern Software Project Management
Introduction Alternative approaches to management developed over the years are extremely
important to modern software project management, although new approaches are needed to deal
with some of the toughest challenges. According to experts, "the popular interest in management as
a discipline and a field of study is fairly recent. But management, both as a practice and as a field of
study, has a respectable history, in many different countries, going back almost two centuries."
(Drucker 2008, p.12). Modern approaches to management were developed in the USA after World
War II which are now taught in colleges and universities. The four classic functions about
management one may learn in school are: "planning, organizing, leading, and controlling" (Nelson
& Economy 2005, p. 5). More functions need to be added to the list of skills for acquiring in the
process of learning about project management aspects. Project management challenges can be
viewed from a process perspective and many experts such as McFarland (1970) highlighted this
view. Management is the "process by which managers create, direct, maintain and operate
purposive, organizations though systematic, coordinated, cooperative human effort" (McFarland
1970, p. 5). "Because projects are transient, their delivery follows a development process, from
germination of the idea, through initiation, design and delivery, to commissioning, handover to the
client and closeout of the work." (Turner 2014, p. 5)

cooperative scenarios, assumptions should be vetted for budgeting accuracy. Assumed increases in

the book "The Mythical Man Month" by Frederick P. Brooks Jr. In addition, I will present my
answers to the questions about the intangibility of the software and the increasing cost connected
with higher reliability requirements. The last part presents my views which dependability attributes
could be most crucial in four real life systems. Body Question 1: Using The Mythical Man Month
reading found on the course homepage, read the project problems mentioned in the text. List the
difficulties and errors that occurred in these failed programming projects. One of the project
problems mentioned by Brooks Jr. in Chapter 12 of his book "The Mythical Man Month" is the
problem with program maintenance. According to him fixing a bug has around 20 to 50% chances
of introducing another one. As explanation he shows two reasons: first one is that in most of the
projects the structure of documentation in not clear, precise and does not describe all dependencies
that exist in the system and second is that the programmer who is repairing the system is typically
not the same as the one who composed the code at development (Brooks Jr., 1995). So in order one
project not to fail there should be more system testing per statement written then in the other cases.
Brooks suggest that after fixing each bug an entire bank of previous test cases should be run against
the system (Brooks Jr., 1995). But

Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems
by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems
and some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering
and intelligent systems.
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they
behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some
key problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and
inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of
failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology.
A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software
engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed.
Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software
engineers.
KEY PROBLEMS – COMPLEXITY
Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects
take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a
thousand lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew

– Customizability: The system needs to be able to adapt to any type of operation. This can be done
by allowing the PM to rename to re–structure the project activities and re–label certain tasks, team
names, resources, terms, folders, and so on. – Expandability: The system needs to be able to grow
with the organization and at the same time handle a large or unlimited number of concurrent
projects. The system also needs to be able to visually and logically separate between projects while
allowing the PM to draw from a global or a customized pool of resources. – Reliability and security:
The system needs to be accessible at any time by any team member. It also needs to provide a high
level of security that guards the organizational data and all relevant information about its projects
and activities. – Scheduling: The system needs to support Gantt charts and automatic cost
recalculation which updates times, costs, and resources. The software should also be able to display
AON or AOA networks and plots of earliest start, scheduled start, slack/float, latest finish, planned
finish, and actual finish times. Naturally, the tool should allow creating activities and tasks,

Earned Value Project Management
A Powerful Tool for Software Projects
Earned value is a tool that helps project manager to assess the amount of budget to complete the
project. It helps to identify the final required fund to get the project done. It allows to measure and
finalized the budget that will take place while project will be running from 1% to 100% lifecycle. It
can provide signals and warnings to project manager. If these early warning signals convey
unacceptable readings to the project manager, steps can be immediately taken to avoid the undesired
results.
US Government has established this earned value techniques many years ago. Formalized version

Most important, the industrial engineers defined a cost variance as the differ– ence between the
actual costs spent and the earned standards in the factory. This definition of a cost variance is
perhaps the litmus test to determine whether one uses the earned–value concept.
Then in 1962–1965 they established PERT/cost. The Program Evaluation and Review Technique
(PERT) was introduced by the U.S. Navy in 1957 to support the development of its Polaris missile
pro– gram. PERT attempted to simulate the necessary work to develop the Polaris missile by
creating a logic network of dependent sequential events. The initial focus of PERT was on the
management of time and on predicting the probability of program success. But before PERT was
accepted by program management in industry, the U.S. Air Force came up with an extension of
PERT by adding resource estimates to the logic networks. PERT/Cost was thus born in 1962, and
the initial PERT was thereaf– ter known as PERT/Time. For various reasons, the DoD gave up on
the PERT/Cost technique in the mid–1960s but correctly held on to the earned–value concept.
After that C/SCSC 1967 to 1996s started the issuance of the C/SCSC by the DoD, the concept's
application has been limited only to contracts in which the government has retained the risks of cost
growth, i.e., on cost– or incentive–type contracts and subcontracts. Perhaps the most significant
aspect of C/SCSC employment has been the body of scientific knowledge

A Book Call The Mythical Man Month
Man Month which represents the production effort a single persons in a 4 week period. This is also
known as labor month. To figure out the total hour of a man–month is done this way. A man day
usually runs 8 hours a day for five days a week which equals forty hours a week (8 hours a day * 5
days a week = 40 hours a week). In a normal mouth you will have for weeks within that month, so
we take the forty hours a week and multiply that by four which will gives us one hundred and sixty
hours a month (40 hours a week * 4 = 160 hours a month) . Brooks 's law says that the possibility of
measuring useful work in man–months is a myth, and is hence the centerpiece of the book. In 1975

This will have to be reputable with a set of multipart interrelationships between tasks and the
workers that will be performing them. Consequently, a project already running behind its schedule
will cause it to become an even later project by assigning more programmers to. Why? Simple, to
get new programmers up to par on the project will take time. They will have to increase the
communication overhead will consume an increasing amount of the calendar time that is available.
As in increases, the communication between people among themselves and their output decreases,
the project will become delayed further with ever person that is added. According to Brooks himself,
the law is an "outrageous oversimplification" but it internments the general rule. There are two
points that Brooks takes into factor and explain why it works this way: When people are added to a
project, it takes time before the project become productive. In his book, The Mythical Man–Month,
calls this the ramp up time. Engineering events in software projects are sometime complex that the
new workers must become educated on the project work that was preceded before they began work.
This normally requires diverting resources that are already busy within the project to educate the
late comers, putting a temporary halt to their productivity in order to work with new workers who
are not contributing expressively yet. Every worker that join the team need to also integrate with

Sensitivity analysis can be accepted by a project manager to fix the risk that has the most important
influence on the positive completion of a project. It examines and assesses the uncertainly of each

accurate and safely completion of a project. Expected financial value analysis is there for calculating
the average outcome of a project and is evaluated by increasing the value of each outcome by its

Though there are clearly many good reasons to utilize project management software, there are also
disadvantages to consider:
Some programs can be very costly with very little ROI. While project management software can
provide great solutions, many times those solutions need to be custom designed or solved by
purchasing multiple software programs. These can be costly options and can be difficult to
implement.
Project management software may complicate simple projects. While using project management

Software Project Teams." The authors cite that team building is critical in overcoming time
challenges and resource coordination. Additionally, owing to the characteristics of diverse software
development projects being unstructured and sophisticated, it is significant to implement teamwork
within such endeavors (He, Brian and William, 2010). Various software developments require the
implementation of dissimilar amounts of knowledge. This deems the implementation of an
individual's knowledge appears to be insufficient in the accomplishment of such objectives.
The authors of the article consider a team to be an association of two or more individuals working
together towards the achievement of a set objective. The authors highlight the power of team
cognition in envisaging the likelihood of team effectiveness. However, studying team cognition has
been marred significantly by conceptualizing and determining its constructs (He, Brian and William,
2010). Team cognition study is complex, owing to the diversity of the tasks and the involved
environmental factors. As such, two aspects of team cognition include awareness of expertise
location and shared task understandings are critical. Individuals within a team ought to be conscious
of the members' capabilities and clearly comprehend their various tasks in accomplishing set
objectives.

An Agile Software Application Development Essay
The top reason for adopting an Agile software application development approach is that it promotes
a culture of collaboration and continuous feedback that concentrates on early delivery of superior
products that meet important end user requirements. Agile software development is in use by many
organizations and has been accepted not only as a method of developing software but in project
management as well. This business case will outline the justification for Company "X" to move
towards using the Agile development method and help guide management to evaluate and consider
this option. An article related to the Agile method of software development was perused in
preparation for this business case. The article examined is titled "Agility in Context" [1] (Hoda et al,
2010). This article along with my prior employment experience with Company "X" has helped
provide the context for this business case. 3 BUSINESS NEED AND CURRENT SITUATION
Company "X" is large corporation that is involved in producing, selling, and maintaining advanced
technological products to both commercial and non–commercial customers. For the reason that
Company "X" is such a large company, it is assumed that my account of their software development
method is not company wide and only attributable to that section of the company I was involved in.

What Is Dynamic Nature Of MIS Infrastructure
Justification
Dynamic Nature of MIS infrastructure
A good MIS infrastructure should support operations and business continuity, with a tested backup
and recovery plan. It should also be dynamic and support changes as needed including new
hardware. It should be agile, and be high on accessibility, availability, portability, reliability,
scalability, maintainability, and usability.
Agile methodology. According to McRoberts (2016), companies are employing new scalable
systems and technologies that allow them to connect seamlessly connectivity across people,
processes and technology, as well as improving employee safety and energy savings, to replace

This option includes infrastructure as a service, software as a service, and platform as a service.
Third, virtualized computing, creating multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine to
maximum its usage.
Many suppliers of cloud computing are working hard on sustainability. For example, Google data
center experiments with different cooling technology and found that having server rack that is
buddied with an air conditioning unit, helps cool down the servers. Moreover, the cooling
mechanism is a series of coils with water. As hot air rises from the servers, the water absorbed the
heat thereby cooling down the serves. The warm water gets cooled down when it flows outside the
data center, and the cool water flows into the server room to cool down the racks again. Innovation
is prevalent at Google data center, and it aims to reduce carbon offsets.
Amazon is another example powering its data centers with renewable energy, by buying the energy
generated by a wind farm in Indiana, which will generate 500,000 megawatt hours of energy
(enough to power over 40,000 homes a year) to run its current and future Cloud data centers
(Cheeseman, 2015). As a third example, Microsoft and the University of Texas at San Antonio
(UTSA) partner together on research to improve facility sustainability by engineering more green
technology, bringing technology, economics and commercialization to create a smart intelligent
energy system to reduce the environmental footprint of data

Advantages And Disadvantages Of E4clicks
1.0 History/Origin
Introduction:
In the current manufacturing environment, estimating can affects the economic condition of a
business. It is the basis of your profit or loss. Estimates that are huge, produce no work, because we
are underbid and hence would not gain those potential orders or sales. We may win underbid jobs,
but they do not produce the efficiency profit from which we can successfully involve a business.
Employers and engineers find it easier to justify purchase of equipment and software used on the

Empirical Differences Between Agile And Devops
Empirical differences between Agile and DevOps
With the increased development of software applications, increased the demand for principles in–
order to maintain quality, flexibility, cost control and maintenance. There are several models of
software development, that describes the approaches to a variety of tasks or activities that takes
place during the development process. In most of the traditional IT process, the collaboration
between the developer teams and the operational teams is minimal and sometimes there would be no
communication, which resulted in various issues like 'system works in test and doesn't work in

An agile project is developed in iterations, which is reviewed and critiqued by a project team.
Usually, these project teams includes representatives from the client business and the employees of
the organization. Each iteration has a time period defined with a set of goals.
Based on the properties of iteration some organizations term iteration as sprint, all sprints are
iterations but not otherwise. Sprint is a time–boxed i.e., it is finished on the planned date and not

Using Cloud Based Project Management Software Essay
Introduction Keeping track of various tasks, timelines, resources and risks while managing a project
can be very difficult. This can however be easier to manage in projects by using cloud based Project
Management Software (PMS) tools, which can help project managers and their team manage those
tasks in IT projects. For this WIKI, two PMS tools are to be described to help assist final year
Research and Development students in choosing the best PMS tool for their project. The criterion
used in selecting the PMS tools is that it shall have at least one key feature that can help manage the
project for each of the process groups of Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and
Controlling, and Closing project. The PMS tool must also be provided by using the "Software as a
Service" (SaaS) approach. This means that the product is provided by an Application Service
Providers (ASP) and made available through the Internet. The PMS tools that we have decided to do
are WRIKE and Teamwork, which we feel are the two suitable tools from the many that have been
researched. Wrike Background Wrike is a cloud based PMS tool that was founded in 2006 Andrew

Software Quality And Customer Satisfaction
Software quality comprises of two levels, which are intrinsic product quality and customer
satisfaction. Intrinsic product quality can be measured by number of bugs or defects occurring
during the software development phases or by how long the software can operate without crashing
or error occurring. Customer satisfaction will be achieved if all the software functions or
requirements listed in product log are met. Therefore, Software produced will be at its highest
quality if software's features and functionality meet all the business objects, and codes written are
relatively bugs free.
Software quality control (SQL), which is a set of activities, encourages ensuring the highest quality
in software products. It contains activities relating to reviews such as requirement review, design
review, code review and also activities relating to testing such as unit testing, integration testing,
system testing and acceptance testing. Main purpose of SQL is to ensure that the developing
software meet all the specifications. At this stage, our group had reviewed software requirements
and making sure to achieve all by the time of software development sprint end. Other reviews such
as design, codes are going to be well analyzed in later sprint and all the testing types are going to be
executed in order to ensure that all the solutions are well tested. Software testing will be done during
every development processes in order to assess features and quality of the software. Different

Project Management : A Relatively New Wave Of Management...
1 Introduction
Currently, the project management is a relatively new wave of management, which takes active
positions in solving problems. Effective project management allows the company to plan properly
and successfully implement projects, optimizing the investment of time, money and human
resources and to ensure a high quality of end products and services. Using the principles and
methods of project management enables an organization to achieve business competitive advantages
and improve the effectiveness of its activities.
Conforming to Bakouros, Project management is an activity area in which are defined and achieved
clear project objectives while balancing between the work volume, required resources, possible risks
and quality (Bakouros, 2000).
Selected project management approach
There is no perfect project management approach that is suitable for each type of projects. Also,
there is no approach that would fit every employee and was comfortable for all team members.
However, during the lifetime of the project management was established many effective methods
and approaches that can be effectively deployed. For this time, one of the most popular and effective
approaches is Agile Project Management. This research report considers Agile Project Management
methodologies and its impact on business sectors.

One project management software that is out on the market...
One project management software that is out on the market today is called "activeCollab". This
software brings together aspects from email, spreadsheets, and databases. One thing that
activeCallab can do that a spreadsheet may not be able to provide you with, is the ability to generate
an invoice for your client based off the data from the project. With this feature it will save a person
the time of manually inputting information, which could lead to input error. Another invoice feature
is the ability to create time entries, so a person may want to bill by days instead of hours, well
simply enough activeCollab can do that for a user. Unlike a spreadsheet, the program also can tell a
user the status of a payment such as if it is pending, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally a last key feature is an interface that lets you work with a client on negotiations of a project.
Another great product that is out is known as "AtTask". This software gives you an enterprise work
cloud environment. Some features that are included in this software is the ability to view all work
requests in one area and compare them. By doing this it gives a person the advantage of looking
over all requests and looking at them side by side instead of flipping back and forth through pages.
It has the stand features of tracking the time of a project and comparing the planned time vs. the
actual time spent. Unlike activeCollab, this software has the ability to customize a dashboard, this
could include the projects that you are currently working on, with up to date notifications and
reports. This dashboard can also be transferred over to an Ipad so you can view the project on the
go. An additional feature to this product is uploading different types of documents for your team
members to view and store. The documents can be organized, shared, reviewed, and eventually
approved/disapproved. Along with the different features that AtTask provides it also has many other
software integrations such as the use of Outlook to collaborate with your fellow team members. For

Using Binfire By Rotary Financial For Online Collaborative...
Purpose
The following memo will recommend the use of Binfire by Rotary Financial for online collaborative
project management and file sharing. Recommendation is based on an analysis of the potential
benefits and potential risks and challenges of implementing collaborative technology at Rotary
Financial. The recommendation will also include a discussion of how to mitigate potential risks and
challenges of implementing this software.
Collaborative Software: Background
Many organizations have developed collaborative project tools due to the increasing need for multi–
site collaboration in the global market (Romano, Chen, & Nunamaker, 2002). Commonly referred to
as groupware, online collaborative project management systems were developed to automate regular
group meeting activities (Corbitt & Martz, 2003). Groupware can function in different capacities as:
content management systems, discussion boards, project management tools, or a combination of all
three. This helps groups with members working over multiple geographical cites to collaborate
(Raman, 2006). The need for multi–site collaboration and file sharing has recently been identified in
Rotary Financial.
Need Satisfaction
Rotary Financial has not yet developed a unique collaborative project management system, or
adopted an existing generic system. In the past, while Rotary may have benefited from such a
system, it was not necessary. Moving forward the adoption of such a solution will be unavoidable.

Discussion: Introduction:
Software project management is necessary to develop a high quality software product. Software
project management involves the activities of planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and
controlling. We are concerned with the risk factors which will affect the management activities and
the developing project will not proceed according to the plan. The term "Risk" is a problem which
can threaten the success of the software project. But we often assume that everything will go
exactly, it is planned [1]. A challenge for IT industry is to develop software system that meets
business needs. The fact is we have to deliver software that is free of bugs. The bugs in software can
cause major loss in IT organization if they are not removed before delivery. Software testing is as
old as the hills in the history of digital computers. The testing of software is an important means of
assessing the software to determine its quality. Since testing typically consumes 40 – 50% of
development efforts, and consumes more effort for systems that require higher levels of reliability, it
is a significant part of the software engineering. Software testing is performed to support quality
assurance [2].Good quality software can be made by using an efficient test method. Statistics say
that 50% of the total cost of software development is devoted to software testing even it is more in

Integrated Management Of Projects And Systems
1. Abstract
Software Development has progressed far in recent years, with Agile software development
methodologies contributing to the success of projects and customer satisfaction. This feasibility
study will examine the potential implications involved with implementing the 'Integrated
Management of Projects and Systems' (IMPS) system using an Agile method. The system will assist
Software Engineers in Communications, Requirements Gathering, Quality Control, and project
management. The IMPS system aims to solve remote communications issues and technical
complexity barriers faced by non–technical stakeholders involved in software projects, resulting in
decreased operating costs and increased productivity. The system will be introduced to the
organization gradually as it is development, with a minimum of disruption.
2. Study introduction
Information Technology (IT) has become a significant part of any work conducted in a technical
capacity, whether this is via job assistance, or enablement. Communications, record keeping, and
employee management all rely heavily upon IT systems to operate. Engineering jobs rely on IT
systems to augment and assist to a greater degree than other areas due to the technical nature of the
work. Nowhere is this more true than in Software Engineering, where technical details and their
representation is key to the success of any project. It has been found that face–to–face meetings are
still unmatched in effective communication.

In the old days, coordinating such tasks was not as complicated as today, it only took a weekly
meeting with your team and manager face to face to review the progress on the task or project.
(PCWorld, 2007) The challenge back in the days actually being able to meet on time, agree on the
available time and of course you could only leverage your team member locally in the same office
or at least same city. Today, as we live in a globalized, where companies no longer operate on a local
scale rather on a global scale where human resources are spread all over across the world. Today, the
challenge of working in teams can mean working with people who are in different time zones,
located at multiple locations on different hemispheres. How can you be able to work on a project or
task with such distance in time and space? How can a manager be able to allocate different tasks to
different team members and also be able to track the progress of the task and make sure tasks are
being executed on time and following the business' guidelines when the team members are spread

The utilization of OOP for the J. Smith & Associates (JSA) furniture & equipment project could be useful with additional training of the OOP software. The JSA furniture & equipment project will follow the Traditional Project Management (TPM) approach. The Linear Project Management Life Cycle Model is the most appropriate TPM. The project follows scope, plan, launch, monitor & control and close processes and the OOP are well suited for a linear project. With easier access to the project plan via lap tops or hand held internet access devices the full project plan becomes portable. Changes and updates through OOP will automatically update other documents affected by these events. The client or senior management can access project plan at any time to follow the progress of the operation. The OOP software functions as a scheduler allowing a software user the ability to visualize former, current and future events. This is very useful tool to follow up with subcontractors to insure their readiness for their phase of the project. Additional OOP functions can assist with the monitoring and control of subcontractor's actions. Many large scale operations only use whiteboards and post–it notes with a high level of ... Kanban originated in Japan in 1940s. Of course there was no software industry at that time. The methodology was invented by the employees of Toyota Corporation as a project management tool. It was aimed at improving the quality of production and minimizing the terms of its delivery. In 1940s delivery of certain production to the customer just in time was a great problem. Developers should be given the time to participate in different activities within the organization as well as outside the organization to expand their horizon of knowledge and combined task and responsibilities. Keywords– Software failure, Organizational failure, Team Responsibilities, Project Management, Software Developers, Benefits V. INTRODUCTION Developing software systems is an expensive, and often a difficult process as software development projects are affected by a series of problems, such as poor management, cost and schedule overruns, poor quality software and under–motivated developers [1], [3]. Boehm suggested in 1991 that realistic schedule and budgets together with a continuing steam of changes in requirements are high risk factors for software development projects [2]. Software failure is defined as a failure of a software when the delivered service is no longer compatible with the specifications. Occurrence of software failure involves many reasons but center team which is brought into concern when a software is failed is the development team of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Modern And Modern Software Project Management Introduction Alternative approaches to management developed over the years are extremely important to modern software project management, although new approaches are needed to deal with some of the toughest challenges. According to experts, "the popular interest in management as a discipline and a field of study is fairly recent. But management, both as a practice and as a field of study, has a respectable history, in many different countries, going back almost two centuries." (Drucker 2008, p.12). Modern approaches to management were developed in the USA after World War II which are now taught in colleges and universities. The four classic functions about management one may learn in school are: "planning, organizing, leading, and controlling" (Nelson & Economy 2005, p. 5). More functions need to be added to the list of skills for acquiring in the process of learning about project management aspects. Project management challenges can be viewed from a process perspective and many experts such as McFarland (1970) highlighted this view. Management is the "process by which managers create, direct, maintain and operate purposive, organizations though systematic, coordinated, cooperative human effort" (McFarland 1970, p. 5). "Because projects are transient, their delivery follows a development process, from germination of the idea, through initiation, design and delivery, to commissioning, handover to the client and closeout of the work." Brooks Jr. Essay Introduction This paper will be used to present one of the project problems mentioned in the text of the book "The Mythical Man Month" by Frederick P. Brooks Jr. In addition, I will present my answers to the questions about the intangibility of the software and the increasing cost connected with higher reliability requirements. The last part presents my views which dependability attributes could be most crucial in four real life systems. Body Question 1: Using The Mythical Man Month reading found on the course homepage, read the project problems mentioned in the text. List the difficulties and errors that occurred in these failed programming projects. One of the project problems mentioned by Brooks Jr. in Chapter 12 of his book "The Mythical Man Month" is the problem with program maintenance. According to him fixing a bug has around 20 to 50% chances of introducing another one. As explanation he shows two reasons: first one is that in most of the projects the structure of documentation in not clear, precise and does not describe all dependencies that exist in the system and second is that the programmer who is repairing the system is typically not the same as the one who composed the code at development (Brooks Jr., 1995). So in order one project not to fail there should be more system testing per statement written then in the other cases. Brooks suggest that after fixing each bug an entire bank of previous test cases should be run against the system (Brooks Jr., 1995). But ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay INTRODUCTION Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and intelligent systems. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology. A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed. Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software engineers. KEY PROBLEMS – COMPLEXITY Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a thousand lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew member of the USS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Project Management : A Powerful Tool For Software Projects lab 04 Md Atiqur Rahman Earned Value Project Management A Powerful Tool for Software Projects Earned value is a tool that helps project manager to assess the amount of budget to complete the project. It helps to identify the final required fund to get the project done. It allows to measure and finalized the budget that will take place while project will be running from 1% to 100% lifecycle. It can provide signals and warnings to project manager. Most important, the industrial engineers defined a cost variance as the differ– ence between the actual costs spent and the earned standards in the factory. This definition of a cost variance is perhaps the litmus test to determine whether one uses the earned–value concept. Then in 1962–1965 they established PERT/cost. The Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) was introduced by the U.S. Navy in 1957 to support the development of its Polaris missile pro– gram. PERT attempted to simulate the necessary work to develop the Polaris missile by creating a logic network of dependent sequential events. The initial focus of PERT was on the management of time and on predicting the probability of program success. But before PERT was accepted by program management in industry, the U.S. Air Force came up with an extension of PERT by adding resource estimates to the logic networks. PERT/Cost was thus born in 1962, and the initial PERT was thereaf– ter known as PERT/Time. For various reasons, the DoD gave up on the PERT/Cost technique in the mid–1960s but correctly held on to the earned–value concept. After that C/SCSC 1967 to 1996s started the issuance of the C/SCSC by the DoD, the concept's application has been limited only to contracts in which the government has retained the risks of cost growth, i.e., on cost– or incentive–type contracts and subcontracts. • 58. Using Cloud Based Project Management Software Essay Introduction Keeping track of various tasks, timelines, resources and risks while managing a project can be very difficult. This can however be easier to manage in projects by using cloud based Project Management Software (PMS) tools, which can help project managers and their team manage those tasks in IT projects. For this WIKI, two PMS tools are to be described to help assist final year Research and Development students in choosing the best PMS tool for their project. The criterion used in selecting the PMS tools is that it shall have at least one key feature that can help manage the project for each of the process groups of Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing project. The PMS tool must also be provided by using the "Software as a Service" (SaaS) approach. This means that the product is provided by an Application Service Providers (ASP) and made available through the Internet. The PMS tools that we have decided to do are WRIKE and Teamwork, which we feel are the two suitable tools from the many that have been researched. Wrike Background Wrike is a cloud based PMS tool that was founded in 2006 Andrew Filev. It is a popular PMS tool used by many large companies such as, Party Rockers records. Wrike focuses on collaboration and task managements allowing users to share documents, discuss tasks with group members and collaborate. • 60. Software Quality And Customer Satisfaction Software quality comprises of two levels, which are intrinsic product quality and customer satisfaction. Intrinsic product quality can be measured by number of bugs or defects occurring during the software development phases or by how long the software can operate without crashing or error occurring. Customer satisfaction will be achieved if all the software functions or requirements listed in product log are met. Therefore, Software produced will be at its highest quality if software's features and functionality meet all the business objects, and codes written are relatively bugs free. Software quality control (SQL), which is a set of activities, encourages ensuring the highest quality in software products. It contains activities relating to reviews such as requirement review, design review, code review and also activities relating to testing such as unit testing, integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing. Main purpose of SQL is to ensure that the developing software meet all the specifications. At this stage, our group had reviewed software requirements and making sure to achieve all by the time of software development sprint end. Other reviews such as design, codes are going to be well analyzed in later sprint and all the testing types are going to be executed in order to ensure that all the solutions are well tested. Software testing will be done during every development processes in order to assess features and quality of the software. Different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Using Binfire By Rotary Financial For Online Collaborative... Purpose The following memo will recommend the use of Binfire by Rotary Financial for online collaborative project management and file sharing. Recommendation is based on an analysis of the potential benefits and potential risks and challenges of implementing collaborative technology at Rotary Financial. The recommendation will also include a discussion of how to mitigate potential risks and challenges of implementing this software. Collaborative Software: Background Many organizations have developed collaborative project tools due to the increasing need for multi– site collaboration in the global market (Romano, Chen, & Nunamaker, 2002). Commonly referred to as groupware, online collaborative project management systems were developed to automate regular group meeting activities (Corbitt & Martz, 2003). Groupware can function in different capacities as: content management systems, discussion boards, project management tools, or a combination of all three. This helps groups with members working over multiple geographical cites to collaborate (Raman, 2006). The need for multi–site collaboration and file sharing has recently been identified in Rotary Financial. Need Satisfaction Rotary Financial has not yet developed a unique collaborative project management system, or adopted an existing generic system. In the past, while Rotary may have benefited from such a system, it was not necessary. Moving forward the adoption of such a solution will be unavoidable. With the expansion of ... Software Analysis : Software Project Management Essay Software Testing Techniques Introduction: (12Bold) Materials: Method: Discussion: Introduction: Software project management is necessary to develop a high quality software product. Software project management involves the activities of planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and controlling. We are concerned with the risk factors which will affect the management activities and the developing project will not proceed according to the plan. The term "Risk" is a problem which can threaten the success of the software project. But we often assume that everything will go exactly, it is planned [1]. A challenge for IT industry is to develop software system that meets business needs. The fact is we have to deliver software that is free of bugs. The bugs in software can cause major loss in IT organization if they are not removed before delivery. Software testing is as old as the hills in the history of digital computers. The testing of software is an important means of assessing the software to determine its quality. Since testing typically consumes 40 – 50% of development efforts, and consumes more effort for systems that require higher levels of reliability, it is a significant part of the software engineering. Software testing is performed to support quality assurance [2].Good quality software can be made by using an efficient test method. Statistics say that 50% of the total cost of software development is devoted to software testing even it is more in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
