Gender Differences In Drinking Games
1. Gender Differences In Drinking Games
Introduction I chose to go with a popular topic, Gender differences. The research began with a game
where the average twenty year old would play with friends, "drinking games". Such as "Never have
I ever" or "Beer Pong". Research by Hone, Carter, and McCullough (2013) indicated that men are
more active drinking game participants rather than woman. Hone et al. (2013) found that most of
these men are more competitive and it motivates them to participate in the games in order to show
off and prove to the woman that they are capable. Genders are different, some men are more
aggressive, some women are more sentimental. It really all depends, that is the beauty of research
studies, it is to dig deeper and to find the reason why everything

3. The Effects Of Popular Energy Drinks On Young Adults And...
Popular energy drinks, such as Rockstar, 5–Hour Energy, and Monster are consumed by individuals,
as a way to remain cognizant, as well as alert, throughout their day. Many of the people consuming
these drinks are young adults and teenagers. These people are oftentimes overwhelmed and busy.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, states, "Energy drinks are beverages that
typically contain caffeine, other plant–based stimulants, simple sugars, and other additives. They are
very popular among young people and are regularly consumed by 31% of 12– to 17–year–olds and
34% of 18– to 24–year–olds (CDC, 2015, p. 1). These statistics show the ages of people consuming
these products and prove that it is mostly young people. Individuals might feel the need to consume
an energy drink before a sports match, work, school, homework, or any task which requires them to
be mentally, as well as physically alert. There are many different types of energy drinks people can
consume and these beverages have similar ingredients. An advantage to these drinks, would be that
an individual accomplishes their goal for the day, because they were given the energy to do so.
There are also certain health benefits that might occur, due to these drinks. For example, they have
ingredients that might protect against some illnesses. However, people who consume these drinks
might not know that they could be risking their overall health. The Food and Drug Administration
has all three of these

5. The Effects of Gatorade on Athletic Performance
When athletes are training or competing, it is apparent that they sometimes benefit by consuming
various drinks that contain water, carbohydrate and electrolytes. This can assist and improve an
athlete's performance, and it may reduce physiological stress on an athlete's cardiovascular, central
nervous and muscular systems. During endurance events Gatorade is an effective drink to have in
order for the athlete to sustain their maximum energy throughout the competition. Gatorade has been
proven to reduce the risk of hyponatraemia, improve endurance performance if consumed during
training or competition and it allows fast release of fluid to the tissue as well as rapid fluid
absorption.
Hyponatraemia is a disorder in fluid–electrolyte stability that results in an unusual low plasma
sodium concentration. A continuous decrease in plasma sodium concentration upsets the osmotic
balance across the blood–brain barrier, ensuing in an direct entry of water into the brain. This causes
brain swelling and a flow of gradually more severe neurological responses such as confusion,
seizure, coma which can result in death from break of the brainstem. The faster and lower the blood
sodium falls, the greater the risk of life–threatening consequences. (Eichner, 2003). Athletes who
drink too much water before and during exercise (high endurance) in warm and humid weather are
at a higher risk of developing hyponatraemia. In addition, bigger athletes are not resistant to
hyponatraemia but smaller

Drink lots of water every day, but before a long ride or a race, start hyper hydrating twenty four
hours in advance.
Avoid drinks containing alcohol or caffeine because they both make the body excrete more water. If
you can not meet your calorie needs, use sports drinks, recovery drinks or other liquid supplements.
Try to step fluid lost to sweat, practice drinking strategies during your training. Determine how
much sweat you lose by weighing yourself before and after your rides Every pound lost equals
sixteen ounces of fluids. It takes practice to drink more than a quart of fluid per hour without getting
cramps or internal discomfort. A hydration bladder system such as Camelbak, provides water and
will help you drink more (Walsh 94). After you have ridden for a while drink plenty of fluids. What
you drink after the ride can make a difference. Coyle also compared the effects of drinking nearly
two liters of water, sport drinks, or diet cola in athletes two hours after a workout, the results showed
diet cola replenishes 54% of the fluids lost; water, 64%; and sport drinks, 69%. Before or while
riding you should eat salty snacks. Sodium makes your blood like a sponge so you can absorb more
water and excrete less. Athletes such as cyclists should also drink plentiful with meals and snacks,
because food naturally contains many times more sodium than soft drinks or energy

"Where is everyone?!" shouted Fortunato. "And where's all the drinks?! Ahhh, there they are!"
Fortunato exclaimed.
Fortunato had a rather... troubled adulthood. With his booming personality, he always made new
friends. He got with the wrong group of friends that would feed him drinks again and again, which
he became addicted to. Montresor on the other hand wasn't as social as Fortunato so he was more of
a loner and focused on his career into adult hood. He became extremely successful in his career
endeavors and he also found the love of his life, Sara, while doing so! His life was perfect, him and

"I think I'll pass for tonight," says Montresor. "I'm not really feeling up to the partying these days."
"Suit yourself, peace out!" yelled Fortunato as he ran away happily on his way to the carnival.
While at the carnival, Fortunato spotted a woman and it was love at first sight. The two hit it off
right away! He felt his life was about to change for the better. Montresor sat alone feeling isolated
and lonely in his empty house, and just thought about his life. He lost the love of his life, his career,
success, and his wealth. Sitting on the floor in his dark, gloomy, disheveled living room, he then
decided to make a change. He pounced up, ran to the kitchen and got rid of all the alcohol in his
home and he declared he would never drink another day in his life! Alcohol was the one thing that
ruined everything for him and he hated it and himself for giving it that power. Montresor began to
withdraw from his friendship with Fortunato slightly because of his use of alcohol. It had been a
while since they hung out and Fortunato wanted to introduce Montresor to the new girl he'd fallen in

Does the author successfully support his claim "Energy Drinks promise edge, but experts say proof

out the negatives of what energy drinks are bringing. Starting with the side effects of the drink, and
the bad pricing compared to other caffeine filled drinks. More and more people are starting to buy
energy drinks, but do not know what is in or what is giving them that energy. Particularly teens are

13. Alcohol As A Beneficial Resource
Throughout centuries the patterns of alcohol use have remained consistent around the world. For the
most part alcohol has been used as a beneficial resource. Within religion there is an emphasis that
alcohol plays an important role in festivities and rituals within a religion as well as with health
benefits. These two ideas continue to influence the patterns related to alcohol use. For starters,
amongst the Catholics there is an emphasis on moderate drinking, because it is believed that alcohol
is a gift from God, but that excessive drinking that results in intoxication is considered to be a sin
(Hanson, p. 7). As well as, some churches use wine during rituals such as during the Holy
Communion, and these traditions continue today. Secondly, the Hebrews described alcohol as being
full of nourishment, an important aspect to festivities, and as a source of medicine (Hanson, p. 4).
Lastly, during the ancient time period alcohol played a role in the religious life of individuals who
live in China. Individuals believed that moderate use of alcohol was a gift from heaven. Not only
was alcohol an important aspect to religion, but also it was used as a source of inspiration, expressed
hospitability, and was used as an antidote to feeling fatigued (Hanson, p. 4).
Overall, I believe that religion is an important aspect amongst a vast variety of individual's lives
around the world, and people tend to enforce traditions. For example, as a Christian often times it is

15. How Generational Trauma In The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist...
The way we live defines us, tradition defines us. Tradition is a very important thing. It is something
that spans many generations and is a part of one's identity. Tradition can define us. Therefore when
tradition is forcibly taken away it can hurt a lot of people and generations. An example of a people
who have had many of their traditions suppressed and taken away are the original inhabitants of the
Americas. Their tradition was taken from them and they were either killed or forced into following a
new tradition which erasing all of their identity. The effect this has on the newer generation is bad
because they will feel like a part of them is missing because their tradition was taken and it can
cause a trauma called generational trauma. The book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in
heaven, focuses on a Native American named Victor in order to describe how generational trauma
causes a weakening of tradition because it becomes replaced with alcohol and isolation. In addition,
Alexie presents how a rekindling of old traditions is a way out of this harmful circle.
When Victor was a child his parents would drink a lot and would neglect him because they dealt
with their pain by drinking. They drank because they were drinking away the problems caused by
the generational trauma they and the generation before them had to endure. For example, during the
New Year's party, everyone got drunk, even Victor's parents, left Victor by himself. Victor's father

The effects of energy drinks once poured in the human body Once you consume an energy drink
your whole body is affected including you brain, your bloodstream, your heart, and your skin.
Energy drinks are really bad for you if you drink it a lot; they say it could affect how you work out
because energy drinks lead to sugar crashes. You don't want to work out and in the middle of your
work out, you get tired all of the sudden, if you drink one after you work out you would just get
tired and you will start to crash. My opinion you should not drink energy drinks at all while working

effects energy drinks can do to your brain, for example Fox health says" Caffeine blocks the effects

Later, at the Bar by Rebecca Barry is a book containing multiple fictitious interwoven short stories
about individuals living in a small town in upstate New York. Linda, an advice columnist, writes
back to those who need her guidance but cannot quite seem to follow her own advice. There is
Harlin, who cannot stay away from his ex–wife, Grace, despite their extremely dysfunctional
relationship. Harlin often also breaks the law, categorizing him as an ex–convict. Elizabeth, a
schoolteacher, who recently separated with her husband due to him realizing he was gay. There is
also Madeline, a school bus driver who struggles with attempting to get her daughter to trust her and
live a normal life. There are many more characters in Later, at the Bar with all extremely different,
complex lives. Each character has their many problems and quirks in their lives that they have to
live with. They each live out their days undertaking their dead–end jobs in their small, blue–collar
town. By night, they end up in Lucy's Tavern as the regulars. Lucy's Tavern is the gathering place to
forget the day they struggled to get through and drink excessively with people who will not judge
them. Due to each character's economic despair, lack of family, and lack of opportunity in their
small, impasse town, they turn to Lucy's Tavern as a place to feel comforted and secure. This

to Giese (2015) "a fourteen–year–old boy in Norway was hospitalized with kidney failure after
consuming four liters of energy drinks during a sixteen–hour Call of Duty session" (para.10) This
example proves the fact that energy–drinks have bad effects when drinking it in big doses. Her
usage of this particular event is very effective because it made other people feel really angry at these
companies because they are risking young men's health just to gain a little profit. This event made
the readers sympathetic toward the family of that child and all the other victims of those outrageous
acts which made them willing to join this cause with the author. Moreover, after approaching sixteen
companies, she found out that only four of them avoid marketing their products to children (Giese,
para 10, 2015). This fact made the author very disappointed with the industry since they are willing
to risk these children's lives just to gain profit. This made her more determined to aware people and

25. Essay on The Effectiveness of Sports Drinks Compared to Water
Staying hydrated is one of the most important parts of physical activity. In Clinics of Sports
Medicine, it explains that "Maintenance of water and electrolyte balance is important for sustaining
cognitive and physical performance. Dehydration degrades morale and desire to work. Body water
deficits of as little as 2% body weight can impair physical performance. Water deficits of 5% to 7%
body weight are associated with headaches, dizziness, and apathy" (Latzka, Montain 1). To prevent
dehydration and its effects a medical team created Gatorade for the University of Florida's football

hypernatremia, a condition that occurs a lot in athletes who drink a lot of water without the
necessary sodium. This can actually cause you to lose fluid (Epstein par. 3–6). Water absorbs
quickly into the bloodstream to hydrate the body, but sports drinks absorb even faster because of the
minerals contained. Quote
Sports drinks are full of minerals. The minerals are not only great for absorption but to replenish
what a body loses during strenuous exercise. Usually replenishment of those minerals is only needed

31. Hemingway Alcoholism
Alcoholism
In my opinion, the continuous drinking references symbolize multiple things, one being the
masculinity the men feel to be in the war, the alcohol use on a daily and a way of to forget the war. A
first example of masculinity is at the start of the book, when Frederic and his friend are sitting
outside a bawdy house drinking as they watch the onlookers pass by.Throughout the book,
Hemingway implicitly writes that women lean on men, how women enter the story, impact the male
protagonist and then leave the story. An example of this is how Catherine enters the story, she's
immediately attracted to Henry and even goes as far as to praise him. After she influences him to

While Catherine and Henry sit together in the hospital in Milan she says, ""I'm afraid of the rain
because sometimes I see myself dead in it," (Hemingway 110). She goes on to say that, "And I
sometimes see you dead in it" (Hemingway 110). Perhaps this is a way to foreshadow the death of
Catherine and a piece of Henry, the baby. When Catherine dies at the end of the book, Henry says,
"And walked back to the hotel in the rain" (Hemingway 284). When the author wants to portray
feelings of sadness and dismay to the reader, it is as if he uses pathetic fallacy to convey this
message. The rain at the start of the book, when Henry is describing the army in Italy, as soon as
Hemingway inserts rain into the chapter, he describes seven thousand who die because of cholera.
The reader can infer that Hemingway purposefully added the symbol of rain to add the emphasis of
the remorse and sadness that the war brings upon people. It also refers back to the theme of warfare,
which can relate to how the characters are somewhat desensitized to the war. An example would be
when Catherine refers to her late fiance, she says bluntly that "They blew him all to bits""
(Hemingway 17), possibly out of anguish. Also, when Henry and his friends are running from the
army, whichever army that may be, Aymo says, "To–morrow maybe we drink rainwater"
(Hemingway 167). A day later, Aymo is killed in the line of action. So the reader can infer that the

A break during a TV show, football game, or news results in a bunch of commercials that people use
as a potty break or snack time so they do not miss anything important, but it is also time for
companies to advertise. Big companies advertise their new product or any product to gain more

People may say basketball is just a game, or just a sport, or just a hobby. Little do people know it is

In life learning how to be unselfish is a major factor in anything whether it's a job, a sport, or

43. Persuasive Essay On Energy Drinks
Imagine you are in bed and remember that your english essay is due at seven in the morning the next
day. You get out of bed and what do you do to get yourself awake to be able to concentrate. Teens
reach for a sugar rush fuel source found in an energy drink, but how do you decide on which brand
to buy. Many are influenced through advertisement that they see daily, through websites,
commercials, billboards, radio, and many others sources. These advertisements persuade people who
would normally not buy the product, to buy it. A study in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology
(2006) showed ten different brands of energy drinks with caffeine levels from 0–141 mg per serving.
Also, an average eight ounce cup of coffee has 65 to 120 mg of caffeine, tea has 20 to 90 mg and
soft drinks have 20 to 40 mg per serving (Analytical Toxicology). There is no wonder why there is
such a huge appeal to people who need energy because of the high caffeine level. Furthermore, there
was a random survey of 496 college students attending a state university in the Central Atlantic
region of the United States, fifty one percent of participants (253 people) reported consuming
greater than one energy drink each month (Malinauskas). This confirms that there is a huge market
for energy drinks and teens make up a big part of the targeted audience. As more people drink these
products it's imperative to stay informed about them. It is easy to be lured into buying and drinking
products solely from there advertisements. To know how a product will affect your body you need to
analyze their advertisements. Although, each brand has its strengths and weaknesses, the ideal
advertisement for energy drinks includes being able to clearly communicate the result on you,
produces confidence and should be entertaining.
To be able to analyze this criteria the reader and evaluate need to start on the same premises. First, a
persuasive advertisement needs to clearly communicate the result of drinking an energy drink. This
tells the reader what they will experience when they drink the product whether it be energetic, or
makes them feel focused. This is imperative because consumers should be informed about what they
are doing to their body. The famous slogan Red

45. Essay on Lesson of the Evils of Liquor
A chemistry teacher wanted to teach his 9th grade class a lesson about the evils of liquor, so he
produced an experiment that involved a glass of water, a glass of whiskey, and two worms.
"Now, class, observe the worms closely," he said, putting a worm first into the water.
The worm in the water writhed about, happy as a worm in water could be.
The second worm he put into the whiskey. It writhed painfully, and quickly sank to the bottom, dead
as a doornail.
"Now, what lesson can we derive from this experiment?" the teacher asked.
One of the students raised his hand and wisely, responded, "Drink whiskey and you won't get
worms."

48. What Makes A College?
Every year in June, thousands of students from around the world throw their graduation caps in the
air in honor of finally having completed High School. Out of these thousands of students, more than
half of them are about to embark on the most rewarding and fun, yet stressful four years of their life:
college. Most of us dream about going to a big, fancy college from the time we learned what a
college was, while the rest of us may have just started to get the ball rolling the beginning of our
Senior Year. Regardless of how you chose to approach preparing for college, we all know that it is
going to be one of the greatest times of our lives. As we grow up and mature, we begin to wish we
had more freedom, we wish our parents weren't so strict or that we didn't have to be the perfect child
all the time. With college life just around the corner, students become increasingly excited as they
finally realize that their parents won't be breathing down their neck telling them everything they
must do. College life allows students to have the freedom to finally make all of their own decisions,
such as underage drinking. Allowing them to become independent, strong–willed individuals one
bad choice at a time. Students who drink are often faced with a range of consequences, from health
impairments to academic failure. Out of the plethora of issues college students face while they learn
how to properly start their lives, the issue that seems to be the biggest and most worldwide is

Bad Health Habits You Need to Leave in 2017
It's 2018! This is another great year to start a new beginning. And you've written to your New Year's
resolution list that you'll reach your health and fitness goals this time around.
But before you go hit the gym and start toning and slimming down your muscles, why don't you
assess yourself and list down all of your bad health habits?
Because even if you eat a healthier diet and go to the gym regularly, you can't be healthy if you still
keep doing things that pose a great risk to your health. Leave all these bad health habits behind and
become a new you this year.

Not drinking enough water
Water is tasteless so some people are not really fond of drinking water. So they prefer drinking
sodas, energy drinks, and juice instead. While energy drinks and fruit juices are alright to drink, only
drink these beverages whenever appropriate since energy drinks contain caffeine and fruit juices
have sugar. For example, if you have done intense physical activities, drink energy drinks and fruit
juices to replace your body's lost electrolytes.
However, if you want to properly hydrate yourself and you have only done minimal physical
activities, drinking water is your best option. You need to drink 8 glasses of water (or more) per day
depending on your body weight. Drinking enough water helps you increase your energy levels,
flushes all of the toxins away and promote weight loss.

63. Analysis Of Gatorade's Secret To Victory
Whether you find athletics intriguing or not, sports are a great metaphor for overall success.
Professional athletes want nothing except to win, but by the professional level you're going to need
every advantage you can get. For example, what if a better pair of cleats could make you run just a
few more yards in a football game. Or, what if a refreshing sports drink could give you that extra
dose of energy and vigor needed to crush the game winning home run. Certainly every athlete out
there, professional or not, would want this leverage over the opposing players. It just so happens that
there are two products out there, Gatorade sports drinks and Russell Wilson's Nike Alpha Menace's,
which may provide the edge every athlete needs. Additionally, there are two advertisements for

answer the question directly, but gives the statement "fail to make the varsity team," as an answer to
his posed question. For those who know even a little about Michael Jordan, may recall the well
known fact that as an adolescent basketball player, he was cut from his high school's basketball
team. Immediately after Jordan makes that statement, it switches gears to another well known
athlete. Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is then seen in a gymnasium lifting various heavy weights.

Risks of Energy Drinks Energy drinks are something that has become popular over the years, not
just for adults but for young children as well. Many people are convinced that consuming these
drinks like Monster or Redbull actually enhances their performance. Although this is true, drinking
energy drinks also has negative health risks for people, including behavioral and physiologic effects,
life threatening situations, and other health risks. Due to these risks/negative effects, this is
important that the consumption of energy drinks stop now.
Drinking energy drinks can have negative effects on people's health. Many risks are involved. So
why do people continue to consume these drinks? The first negative effect of energy drinks is the

There is a need to identify the level and type of support an individual requires when eating and
drinking. Any support while eating or drinking is to be provided respecting the service user's human
dignity, while the carer is exhibiting warmth and a calm attitude. The care plan informs whether the
service user is able to feed him/herself, or needs assistance. Many service users will feed themselves
when starting their meal, but will get tired and will then require assistance. The hands of service
users with Parkinson's may have to be gently directed so that they manage eating independently. The
carer may need to cut the food for the service user. Service users with chewing difficulties, or
swallowing precautions, or a history of choking need to be supervised while eating. Of course, these
service users will also get a soft diet. Service users living with dementia may reject food which to
them resembles to gruesome things (e.g., they may think meat bits in a dark sauce are cocroaches),
therefore person–centered support is important. Service users with learning disabilities may find it
