2. About Louis
Louis Theroux was born in 1970, and is an English
documentary filmmaker and broadcaster. He is
known for his documentaries ‘Louis Theroux’s weird
weekends’ and ‘When Louis met…’ He was born in
Singapore, but he moved to England and was
bought up in London. Louis attended Magdalen
College in Oxford, where he got a degree in history.
He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and
three children.
3. Career
-Started as a journalist with Metro Silicon Valley
(newspaper in California)
-He was then hired as a writer for Spy magasine
(1992)
-Worked as a correspondent for TV Nation series
-When this show ended, he signed a deal with the
BBC, which is when Louis Theroux’s weird
weekends began.
-He published his first book in 2005, called ‘The call
of the weird: travels in American subcultures.’
-Currently, he is still working with BBC.
4. Documentaries
Most of his documentaries are reflexive as his
presence is in front of the camera, but there is also
narrative alongside the documentary. However,
sometimes he does join in on the activities he is
documenting, but he keeps detached from the
situation. Some of his documentaries include:
