2. Louis Theroux
Background Information: Louis Sebastian Theroux (born 20 May 1970) is
an English broadcaster best known for his documentaries in the television
series Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends and When Louis Met... as well as
his BBC2 specials. His career started in journalism and bears influences of
notable writers in his family, such as his father Paul Theroux and
brother Marcel Theroux. He currently works with the BBC producing his
documentaries and popular TV series.
Type of Documentary: He appears on screen, carries out interviews in front
of the camera, following and observing celebrities and people of interest
such as extremists
Channel: BBC
Target Audience: I believe his documentaries would appeal to a wide range
of males and females as he covers a variety of topics, However his
documentaries are available on DVD with an 15 age certificate, therefore
we think they are tailored for adults.
3. Trevor McDonald
Background Information: Sir Trevor McDonald OBE (born George
McDonald on 16 August 1939) is a Trinidadian-
British newsreader and journalist. He had a long career as a news
presenter with ITN. He is notable for having been the first black news
reader in the UK and for having won more awards than any other British
broadcaster. McDonald was knighted in 1999 for his services to journalism.
Type of Documentary: He did a series of travel documentaries and has
recently done an insight documentary into death row
Channel: ITV
Target Audience: Because of the nature and topic discussed in Trevor
McDonald's documentaries I would say that the target audience would be
slightly older then Louis Theroux. However I believe they would still appeal
to both genders.
4. Cherry Healey
Background Information: Cherry Healey (born Cherry
Kathleen Chadwyck-Healey, 5 December 1980) is
a British television presenter, frequently featuring in self-titled
lifestyle documentaries on the BBC, especially BBC Three.
Type of Documentary: She presents documentaries based
on her own life experiences such as her marriage and
pregnancy, interviewing others about their experiences
Channel: BBC 3
Target Audience: Because of the channel it is shown on I
would say the target audience would be young adults, the
topics discussed such dating would probably be more
appealing to the female population
5. Stacey Dooley
Background Information: Stacey Dooley (born 9 March 1987) is a
British television personality. She rose to fame in 2009 after
appearing in a number of BBC Three documentaries
highlighting child labour issues in developing countries.
Type of Documentary: Visits developing countries educating us on
their struggles. Observes key people and gains opinions of others
through on screen interviews.
Channel: BBC 3
Target Audience: Again because of the Channel I would say the
target audience would be slightly younger because other
programmes on BBC 3 are tailored to a young adult audience.
However the topics discussed are likely to appeal to all ages.
