Lennie Character Analysis
Eugene Hong English 1 Honors 18 September 2017 Lennie Small: The innocent, the illusion, and
the reality In Steinbeck's 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, Lennie Small is a huge man cursed with the
inability to process things quicker than others. Lennie also is slow to show emotion and socialize
with others. Through this young and innocent mind, Steinbeck utilizes Lennie to show the
vulnerability of the innocence, the vision of the American Dream, and the cold, harsh reality that
many people faced. Lennie's young and child–like mind makes him one of the most unusual
characters as he has such a big figure, yet his obsession with puppies and tending the rabbits makes
him more like a young boy than a grown man. Lennie's innocence makes him a good companion to
travel with as his clean heart rubs off on George, a small man who enjoys being alone. Lennie gets
George to start opening about himself and his dream. In the first part of the story, we find out that
"Why he'd do any damn thing I tol' him. If I tol' him to walk over a cliff he'd go"(40). We see a strict
loyalty to only George as he tells Slim about Lennie's disability. We see how easy it was, back then,
to manipulate "disabled" people and control them to follow your commands. However, not only
does Lennie follow George's commands, because of his child–like mind, he acts like a young baby
to George. " 'You drink some, George. You take a good big drink.' He smiled happily" (3). Because
of the way Lennie's mind thinks,

[CI]Well, here we are again. I really liked this topic last time, so I'm gonna go through some more

Lets do it.
[BC]Stephen Ross

[C]Ross purchased the Dolphins in 2009, and since then, they have made the playoffs a grand total
of 1 time. Even then, it only happened because they had literally the weakest schedule in the NFL
and a playoff birth handed to them on a silver platter. They are 65–79 since Ross took over, and it
has been nothing but incompetence. He had Bill Parcells as his executive VP of football operations,
but Parcells left because he didn't want to deal with Ross' ineptitude. He kept Jeff Ireland around
from 2009 to 2014. That is about 3 years too long. How bad was Ireland? Well, to put it bluntly, the
fans protested him having a job for years, and he couldn't get another front office job and is now a
college scout for the saints. He supported now former head coach Joe Philbin, despite him being
completely unable to lead a team, as displayed by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of America And I
America and I
Analytical essay
Anzia Yezierska was born October 19th, 1885 on the Russuin–Polish border, in a little town called
Plinsk. In 1892 she and her family immigrated to America. America and I is an autobiographical
short story, in which takes up important themes such as the American Dream and the journey to
fulfil ones goals in life.
In "America and I," the author recalls moving from Russia to America. We hear about her
expectations when she first arrives, which are filled with hope and dreams of making a better life,
than her ancestors. She expects to find a country similar to the stories about the opportunities. At her
first job as a maid for an Americanized Russian family, she soon discovers how wrong she was. She

While we follow Anzia's course, we also get a very clear picture of how the conditions where in the
time period. – And how big a part The American Dream played in the everyday life of all the
different people.
Anzia is a rare example of social mobility. She started from the scratch as an immigrant and ended
up as an educated author. To put this short story into perspective, we can look at America today.
Both today and back then, there wasn't much social mobility. In America there is and always have
been believed that with hard work, anyone can make it. In the documentary, Money, Power and the
American Dream, we get a clear image of how strong the American Dream still exists in the
Americans. The promise of how everyone can become everything and achieve their goals with hard
work. It is in the documentary clear, how that is not true. The social immobility is at its highest, and
the poor are getting less and less, whereas the rich are getting richer and richer.
The short story deals with a lot of interesting themes and ancles. In a honest and true way, it shows
the reader how the life was during that period of time, and how it shaped the next generation and its

Parallels Between The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway and The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald
During the decade of the 1920's, America was going through many changes, evolving from the
Victorian Period to the Jazz Age. Changing with the times, the young adults of the 1920's were
considered the "Lost Generation". The Great War was over in 1918. Men who returned from the war
had the scars of war imprinted in their minds. The eighteenth amendment was ratified in 1919 which
prohibited the manufacture, sale, or transportation of liquor in the United States. Despite the
eighteenth amendment, most people think of large, lavish parties when thinking about the 1920's.
The nineteenth amendment was passed in 1920 which gave women ... Show more content on

As Jones summed up on a BBS response, "The certainly love drinking from dawn til dawn" (Jones
1160). In comparison, many of the characters of The Great Gatsby drank excessively, keeping in
mind the story was set in the United States during prohibition. Jay Gatsby, a bootlegger, threw large,
lavish parties at his grand estate during the summer evenings where the alcohol, food and music
flowed. Characters such as Tom and Daisy Buchanan, Myrtle Wilson, Jordan Baker, and Nick
Carraway enjoyed parties and drank excessively. Another important parallel to point out under the
vice of excessive drinking is the fact that both Hemingway and Fitzgerald drank excessively. Their
excessive drinking behaviors caused their writing to suffer (McDowell 91).
The second parallel between a vice in Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises and Fitzgerald's The Great
Gatsby is that of sexual promiscuity. The most promiscuous
character in The Sun Also Rises is Brett Ashley. Nicholas McDowell described here
as " . . . an English aristocrat, alcoholic and promiscuous" (McDowell 47). Here is a woman who is
engaged to be married to Mike Campbell and had affairs with Robert Cohen and Pedro Romero
while engaged. She has a deep affection towards Jake Barns as well, however due to his sexual
impotence, no sexual relationship developed. In comparison, The Great Gatsby had promiscuous
behavior in the form of adultery. Tom Buchanan had several affairs

Analysis Of The Movie ' Why Did I Get Married ' Essay
Background: Why Did I Get Married?
"Why Did I Get Married?" directed and produced by Tyler Perry is a movie based on four couples
who take a reunion vacation to the Colorado Mountains in order to reunite with friends from
college. On this vacation things didn't go according to plan. Throughout the movie there was
heartbreak, infidelity, suppressed feelings, conflict, and secrets raging throughout each of the
couples' relationship in some aspect. With these unfortunate events occurred at various times
throughout the film it cause their trip to evolve from a place to relax, enjoy friends, and time off
from work into an emotional and tense atmosphere with the involved couple seeking validation from
the other couples on the reason why their marriages are the way they are. Even though the movie
ended on a good note in their celebration of Janet Jackson's character (Pat) receiving an award one
of the marriages did not survive. This couple's relationship will be my focus for this paper.
Sheila (Jill Scott) and Mike's (Richard T. Jones) relationship was different stretched to its limits.
There was infidelity, neglect, emotional abuse, and belittlement raging in their marriage. This led to
Sheila feeling depressed, unwanted, and unloved while Mike found interest in her close friend Trina.
Mike emotionally abused her teasing her about her weight and telling her she was "big as a cow" in
one scene. The toxic relationship, comes to an end in which Sheila was able to find love in

The Valley of Elah
In The Valley of Elah is undoubtedly one of the most realistic depictions of a modern soldiers
experience during the war in Iraq. This film exposes the challenges that many soldiers face upon
returning home from duty. In the Valley of Elah follows a detective plot as Hank Deerfield tries to
find his AWOL son, Mike, who has just returned home from active duty in Iraq. As Hank pieces
together the events that lead to his sons death, the viewers see how traumatized the returning
soldiers are. This film submerges the viewer in very powerful and gruesome incidents, which is seen
through the photographs and cell phone footage that Mike records while in Iraq. Throughout the
film, Mike's mental state progressively degrades through the photographs ... Show more content on

At the end of the film, the audience learns what happened to Mike that changed him forever. Mike
documented these experiences through video recordings and photographs that were shared with his
father. Through the grainy video recordings we see Mike driving a military convey. Under military
standing orders, a soldier is not allowed to stop a vehicle for anything in the middle of the road. If
"someone or something gets in front of you, you do not stop. [If] you stop, shitheads pop up with
RPG's and kill you all dead" (In the Valley of Elah 2007). Under orders, Mike speeds up the military
convey and runs over a child. He proceeds to get out of the vehicle and takes a photograph with his
cellphone of the boy's dead body on the side of the road. That moment changed Mike forever.
Running over a child during the first week of deployment had an immense impact on Mike and his
behavior. Mike calls his father and says "you gotta get me out of here," "something happened, Dad."
Hank asks his son if there "is anybody there with [him]?" because he does not want his son to be
seen as weak while crying on the phone. This scene continues to add to the stress that Mike faces in
Iraq. Mike is trying to reach out for help from his father about an incident that traumatized Mike but
Hank did not want to hear or discuss any of Mike's issues. This phone call and loss of connection
with Hank further contributes to Mike's downward spiral in Post Traumatic Stress

Essay On Short Selling
The far majority who invest in the stock market or a type of security hope that their investment
escalates in value or price. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place;
they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling.
Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed
securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while
others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. According to Nasdaq, short selling can
be defined as "establishing a market position by selling a security that one does not own in

In the 1980s, investments banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan,
and Morgan Stanley started selling mortgage bonds. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands
of home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly
payment). To address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates
are low which prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called
'tranches'. The lowest tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was
the last mortgages to be paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime
mortgages, which were higher risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower
credit levels. Essentially, banks were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were
never going to be able to make the payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the
mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were
still willing to buy. Investors, who look at ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard &
Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were risky investments. The agencies, whom were
being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to these risky bonds. Que the creation of the

Luke Cage's signature yellow and Harlem references are not the only things that stand out. With a
show that features sex, violence and a lot of swearing, viewers are quick to point out Obama's name.
And the political name drop is a confusing setting for the series. President Barack Obama's name is

The American Dream
Opportunities are all over the place in America, a person can come from nothing and work hard and
manage to come out in the end successful, the opportunities are far and wide. American culture
revels on individualism: Freedom of speech, liberation, and the value of an individual are some of
the things that are associated with America. The American dream where folks in the US have the
liberty to follow their dreams, no matter how crazy or unconventional they are. And while the
economy might be crumbling and social mobility isn't exactly easy, a lot of people still manage to
achieve what they want through hard work, luck and determination. Unfortunately, the American
dream is becoming more and more materialistic. I suppose when you look back at America from 40
to 50 years ago to now, it has always been a bit materialistic, but viewing America today vs back
then, it is a nation that has become obsessed with shopping and buying unnecessary products. It
seems almost predetermined that our nation would be centered on material goods because when our
land was first established, it had immeasurable riches. People from all over the world come into this
country in search of the American dream, which involved, above all, freedom. However, the
American dream has vastly transformed into a country where cultures united and solidified into a
materialistic culture.
After our country was founded and many centuries after, it seems that materialism now has reached
its high point. As once wisely

controversy today is General Motors (GM). In an article titled "General Motors announces 30th
recall of year," by Rebecca Cook, the company has now recalled over 13.8 million cars worldwide
since January 2014. The most controversial recall occurred on April 1, when over 4 million cars

Corporate governance is the formal system of oversight, accountability, and control for
organizational decisions and resources. Investigations show that Delphi, the auto supplier that
produced the ignition switch parts for GM, stated that GM approved the parts back in 2001 even
though they were aware that the quality of the parts was substandard and they did not meet the
specifications (Spangler). This is due to the fact that the responsible quality engineers were not
being held accountable for their actions when reviewing and approving production parts from
suppliers. The lack of an accountability system throughout the company also created a dysfunctional
corporate culture. According to the article "The 'GM Nod:' 315 Scathing Pages on General Motors'
Culture," by Mike Spector, a 315–page report describes the actions, or lack of it, the committees
who were delegated to create a solution to the issues about the ignition switch. The report described
the "GM Nod," in which meeting participants nod in agreement over actions that should be taken,
but then did not follow through with it or did nothing at all. It also described the "GM Salute," a
gesture in which one crossed his or her arms and points the responsibility to someone else. Workers

appropriate towards the topic.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a 1967 American comedy–drama film produced and directed by
Stanley Kramer, and written by William Rose. Personally to me the film was more of a serious type
of film, I personally wouldn't call it a comedy

This is because the movie Guess Who's coming to dinner is meant to be taken seriously where as
Guess Who is about being seen as more of a comedy.
Once again this is because of the time difference, unlike Guess who's coming to dinner, guess who
was made in a more of a relaxed generation where people pretty much laugh at nearly everything.
Guess who is a movie about a black female introducing her white boyfriend to her family. The white
male is soon going to be marrying the black female. In my opinion guess who is not meant to be
taken seriously.
The film creators of Guess Who are basically making a joke about the whole thing.
I guess you could say that the creators of the film are trying to make a joke around the whole topic
so people become less aggressive about the topic.
In today's age people make jokes about serious things to clear up any aggression on the subject
This is another way to make everyone feel that if they want to say something about a cloudy topic
that it's okay because it's a friendly zone for people to have their own opinion
In conclusion I think Guess Who's coming to dinner is more of a real topic and deals with the topic

Essay on I Just Wanna Be Average
"I Just Wanna Be Average" By: Mike Rose Summary: In the story "I Just Wanna Be Average" the
author Mike Rose argues that society very often neglects and doesn't see the full value and potential
of students. As a student you're not the only that is frustrated. Rose explains how even dealing with
the issues and difficulty of a highly respected professor you can still somehow find comfort as a
student and learn to deal with the issues of the professor in your own way. Rose also points out that
the impact a teacher has on his or her students is very powerful. I know from experience that when

parents and students are faced with embarrassment which can be tragic just from an error this school
had made. If Professor Rose had not taken that single Biology course his sophomore year in "Our
Lady of Mercy" his educational career as a professor would not have been a success. It is always
very important teachers understand the importance and responsibility of their role that is in these
student's everyday lives, they shape the way these students think, and understand everyday
education we use. During the essay Ken Harvey mentions that he just wants to be average and
considers himself to be below average while Rose is thinking to himself what an absurd comment it
was. When an individual is constantly told that he or she is not smart they can't do this or that it
lowers their confidence and they actually start working at that level and not striving for the highest
standard. Teachers and or professors have many responsibilities including the most important one
which is knowing and making sure the student or child understands every single lesson they teach.

The American Dream
The American dream is the concept of living in a society that values equality and the ability to
achieve prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. It means to me that you are not
limited and have equal opportunities to conquer your dream career. The American Dream is living
purely, happily, and healthy with enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle. However, in my
opinion this dream really shouldn't be about accumulating a plethora of material possessions. I
believe the sense of satisfaction you get for giving back to your community is a much greater
reward. Before the Civil War, the concept of the American Dream was simply having freedom,
rights, a home, and a healthy family. The goal was much simpler and straight–forward back then.
Now consider what we all "dream" about today: we not only dream of a steady job, but instead we
dream of a career that gives us a great sense of personal satisfaction. Today, it appears most people
look to achieve a position that gives them status, independence, and excitement. Many individuals
look to collaborate with others who share some of the same ambitions. It seems that society is now
filled with those who place an exaggerated importance on living in a place that has all the latest
conveniences as a way to show off their money. This is an example of the how the concept of the
American Dream has been revised over the generations.

nobody said it was easy but putting the time to work hard will get anybody a better life its takes time
for those results. What I think and feel about the American dream? Is if you want to live a better life
then you should chase the dream and put the time & work but not only that you will have to go
through tough times and fail many times. But if you still have the dream, then at the very end
everything you worked for will pay off you will live it to the fullest no matter what. American

My Dream A Dream
A Dream
When i was born, my first thought was that if humanity was to take care of me, I should be
obligated to take care of humanity. I've always wanted to take care of everyone around me but sadly
as time went by I realized that that would not be possible. I grew up with stories of my country, and
how its' own people would kill each other every day jus for the fun of it. I never understood why
people found the death of others so amusing but what I did understand was that I wanted to make a
difference. I wanted to change the world ever since I was old enough to speak. I would always
watched out for others and defended those who could not defend themselves. To me, that's what life
is about, helping this world become a better place, even if you have to do it one person at a time. I
left my country when I was five in search of a better home. My mother came to the U.S. a year
before I did, by the time I got sent over she was already settled down. I remember the first day, the
night before had been a rough night, we didn't sleep much, exhausted we made it to the United
states. In the morning we arrived to my mothers house, It was Christmas Eve, as we walk in there
was a huge to in the living room. I had never seen one so big, at the center of it was a big Christmas

'Removing A Child Is Terrible'
"In 13 years in this job, I think I've only once come across a case where the parents really didn't
seem to love their child," –Sallyanne Jones (Moorhead, 2012). Jones has been a social worker who
specializes in child protection for the past 13 years. As a mother herself, she finds it unbearable to
consider losing her child to the foster system. In the article, "Removing a Child is Terrible", Jones
goes over a case in which she's shown working with a young couple, Tiffany and Mike, who are
struggling with the determination of trying to care for their three–year–old son. Jones and her team
of fellow social workers do their best to train the duo into becoming adequate parents. But soon,
Tiffany becomes pregnant for the second time. Sallyanne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Jennifer always aspired of being a mother. Jennifer has always been wheelchair bound due to
cerebral palsy. In 1987, Jennifer gave birth to her son, David. David's father, Jennifer's boyfriend,
also had a physical disability. Directly following David's delivery, the child welfare agency
indicated that Jennifer and her boyfriend could only take their son home from the hospital if they
had a caregiver with him at all times. Shortly after then, Jennifer's relationship with her boyfriend
began to weaken, and domestic violence followed. Unable to manage the domestic violence, David's
live–in caregiver moved out. David was immediately place in to foster care by child welfare
workers. Jennifer was then enlightened that she was pregnant again. Her second son, Jesse, was
instantly removed to foster care by child welfare workers. Jennifer was granted limited supervised
visits with David and Jesse while she battled with the county for custody of her children. Jennifer
requested her own caregiver to help her with parenting, which was further denied by the county.
Jennifer fought for many years for the parental custody of her children. Eventually, Jennifer gave

stay together, David and Jesse were adopted by two different families. Jennifer was granted a
supervised annual visit with each child. Despite being protected by the American Disabilities Act,

Hall Of Baseball Analysis
The Orioles have developed two potential hall of fame players, Mike Mussina and Manny Machado,
over the past twenty years. Mike Mussina was the Orioles ace during their last playoff run in 1996–
1997, and received over 50% of total votes for the hall of fame in last year's voting. Manny
Machado has been a star for the Orioles since 2012 and is just about ready to reach his prime years
as a player. Let me make something clear. For the analysis below, I'm looking only at production
from 1997–2017. This means that I'm only looking at Cal Ripken's production from 1997–2001,
when he was 36, and not over his entire career. I'm not saying that Machado was the Orioles' best
player since 1997, but rather that from 2012–2017, he was more productive ... Show more content

People were dreaming about Nick Markakis after his strong 2007 and 2008 seasons, but he was
unable to remain elite and now should be seen as nothing more than a good but not great player. The
Orioles have developed a number of starting pitcher prospects who were legitimately hoped to
become aces. Some have been successful starters for a time, like Gausman, Bundy and Tillman, but
the one that truly became a top of the rotation pitcher was only successful as a Cub. The Orioles
have been waiting a long time for an elite player like Machado. The Orioles haven't had as talented
as a player as Machado since Mussina, and he's still only 25 (turns 26 in July). In theory, if the
Orioles were able to extend him, he could be the best player on the Orioles for the next ten years. A
player like this doesn't come around often in free agency and especially not when he's just 26. So, of
course, we've discovered this week that the Orioles don't think that they're able to extend Machado
and are therefore looking to trade him. It's even more frustrating since the Orioles show they
understand that free agency isn't where they're going to find excellent talent. DD has noted that
signing pitchers to four year deals hasn't worked out for the Orioles and doesn't really work out for
other teams either. The Orioles understand that trying to build their team with free agents is simply

Aids Memorial Quilt Research Paper
The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt is a place for people to celebrates the lives of people
who have died for the causes that related to AIDS. It works as a commemoration for social and
personally expressive. During the 20 centuries, many people who died of AIDS related causes did
not have funerals since the surviving family members felt social imputation of AIDS, and many
funeral homes or cemeteries refused to accept the deceased's remains. This social phenomenon
made AIDS activist, Cleve Jones, have an idea for the AIDS Memorial Quilt. In the candlelight
March in1985, Jones asked people to write the names of their family members who were killed by
the AIDS–related causes on signs. Then he was inspired by the signs that were taped on the San
Francisco Federal Building. To Jones, all the signs looked like a huge patchwork quilt. In 1987,
Cleve Jones, Mike Smith, and volunteers first started the NAMES project in San Francisco. "The
goal of the Quilt is to bring awareness to how massive the AIDS pandemic really is, and to bring
support and healing to those affected by it. Another goal is to raise funds for community based

In this example, an agreement has not been made. The ad that Pete placed in the Auto Trader is
simply an offer to do business and not an offer to enter into a contract. The ad "1989 Pontiac

for a contract of sale. Paul provided a response to the ad by offering to pay $6,000 for the vehicle,

This is because commodities such as shares of stock in a volatile trading market are always
changing, which makes buying and/or selling time sensitive. In saying this, it can be argued that the
several weeks that it took Jane to decide to buy, surpassed the rational time frame to accept an offer
involving a fluctuating commodity such as stocks. Part 2: The Other Essential Elements of a Valid
Contract 1. Arnold invited Jane to the college New Year dinner and dance. Jane accepted his
invitation and agreed to accompany Arnold who purchased the tickets and arranged a limo. This
contract is void. This is due to the element of intention missing. Both parties lacked a serious
intention to make a binding contract. They did not intend to create a legally enforceable agreement.
Jane's acceptance to Arnold's offer to dinner and dance does not create an enforceable contract, but a

The Planet Of The Slums Summary
6.1
In The Planet of the Slums, Mike Davis using the definition made by the US Department of Labor,
describes slums as "an area of dirty back streets, especially when inhabited by squalid and criminal
population" (Davis: 22). Brasilmar Ferreira Nunes and Leticia Veloso, similarly explain the
definition of "favelas", as a "marginalized urban space" (Nunes & Veloso: 225). In other words, a
slum is an underprivileged, underdevelopment, and often dirty and overpopulated "neighborhood." I
personally prefer Nunes and Veloso's definition of favelas to the US Department's definition of a
slum. I agree that a slum is looked at as dirty and can contain a criminal like population, yet I
disagree that these slums are always in the "back streets." As ... Show more content on

In certain circumstances they are out in the open, as also seen in Seattle and in Downtown LA.
Furthermore, in both Nunes and Veloso and Davis' arguments, slums or favelas are not always just
homes to impoverished peoples. Nunes and Veloso point out that favelas commonly enough
encompass more people that do have the means to live elsewhere and choose not to due to cultural
or emotional ties to their homes in these slums.
6.2
According to Mike Davis, there are multiple factors and actors responsible for the growth of slums
across the world. These factors include corruption, exploitation, and a lack of management in most
scenarios. The actors responsible for these expansions are the government, the State, landlords, and
sometimes the country as a whole. Davis explains that this

The Jungle By Upton Sinclair
Many believe the path to success isn't easy, but with hard work, drive, and passion, it is possible to
attain the American Dream. However, when a person thinks of the American dream they are
standing from the outside looking in and fail to see the struggle that comes with it. In the Jungle,
Upton Sinclair portrays how difficult it is to obtain this fantasy by showing the journey of a
Lithuanian immigrant family coming to America. They came to America because they heard that
"any man willing to work an honest day would make a living and could support his family." Jurgis
Rudkis, the main character of the jungle, is a vigorous, motivated, and honorable Immigrant whose
vision is quickly destroyed by poverty, disappointments, and corruption. "I will work harder," is
Jurgis 's motto and his answer to every setback he encounters. While this attitude brings Jurgis
closer to the American dream, the harder he works the more obstacles he seems to face. Cheated in
the worst ways possible, Jurgis tries to push forward through everything, hoping he will eventually
gain the dream he had heard of in the past. "I will work harder" only helps Jurgis so much in his
quest to achieve the American Dream. However, it could work in today' America. Upon arriving in
America, Jurgis is swindled and could have given up on his dream but because of his determination
to thrive he reaches, Chicago, the place where he was told he could earn a fortune. In the Jungle,

Smart Kids Do Stupid Things Essay
I will be the first to testify and, despite my obvious bias, I still believe that I am completely accurate
when I say that my parents are the best that any kid has or will ever have. My mother, though,
regardless of her efforts, repeatedly made a fatal error my upbringing; she never learned that, despite
her trust in me, any adolescent boy left idle and unsupervised for any length of time will eventually
turn to no good. Such was the case on a particular August afternoon.
August, for any grade–schooler, is without a doubt the most despicable of months. Even
May, when pre–adolescents are being driven mad by the promise of summer lying so close but
unattainable before them cannot compare to the sultry anticlimax of August. Indignant ... Show

We were sitting around doing absolutely nothing when I suddenly touched upon an idea which I
considered to be divinely inspired; we would commandeer a water weapon, the greatness of which
neither of our meager minds could ever hope to comprehend; a device so powerful it could launch
spheres of dihydrogen monoxide distances that would spin your head. We were going to break out
the water–balloon slingshot!
Our experiments with this strangely mysterious implement of destruction were at first occupied by
shooting water–balloons over the house. Like a skillful mortar crew, we first scouted out a suitable
target. Then, after careful calculations and tedious positioning, we proceeded to send a projectile
lofting over the roof toward the street, where it would subsequently crash down onto the roof of my
neighbor's Pontiac Bonneville, the hollow, metallic thud letting us know we had hit our mark.
However, after about twenty minutes of this, when we had perfected the technique to our
satisfaction, we struck upon another brilliant idea. You see, my backyard culminates in a massive
hill that was formed when Interstate 255 was built. The highway service road, Kinswood Lane, sits

Standing on the top of the hill, gazing over the traffic whizzing by on the interstate, Mike and I were
both struck with the same thought. We filled a balloon half with water, half with air, the optimal

What Really Happened on 9/11? Essay examples

We have all heard of the newest anti–crime law, the "Three strikes and you're out" law.
It wasn't easy getting this law from the bill stage in Sacramento to the law stage, because it is not a
criminal friendly law. Meaning that this law's purpose is to bring pain, suffering, and intimidation to
criminals. Our state government was basically ran by the Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, now
mayor of San Francisco.
Brown had the power to choose who sat on what committee in the house, and using this he could

Double the sentence for a conviction of any felony if there is a previous serious or violent felony
conviction.
Triple the sentence or twenty–five years to life, whichever is greater, for any combination of two
prior violent or serious felony convictions coupled with any new felony.
Probation, a suspended sentence, or a commitment to a diversion program as a substitute for serving
time in prison is prohibited for felons with at least one prior conviction of a serious or violent
felony.
Any felon with at least one prior serious or violent felony conviction must serve any subsequent
felony sentence in a state prison (as opposed to a county jail).
Terms are to be served consecutively, rather than concurrently.
Maximum allowable time off for good behavior is reduced to 20 percent.
Juvenile convictions for serious of violent felonies count as prior convictions if the felony was

When a defendant has at least one prior conviction for a serious or violent felony, the district
attorney is required to plead and prove all known prior felony convictions. Prior felony convictions

Matthew Dellavedova Case Study
With free agency looming the Cleveland Cavaliers have a bunch of decisions to make. Majority of
the Cavs players are scheduled to become free agents and the goal is to keep the team intact. The
front office's first priority is re–signing LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith,

The point guard rose to stardom in the NBA finals and may be seeking a premium deal. The Cavs
intend to make an offer to the restricted free agent, but it shouldn't be more than what a backup is
worth. Dellavedova has limited value and he proved that in the playoffs. Although he is a feisty
player, he is also an undersized guard who can't walk the ball up the court. His lack of court vision
limits his ability to get teammates involved. This may be true, but that is not his best suited role on
this team. There is no need to handle the ball and attack the rim when you have LeBron and Kyrie
Irving on your team. Dellavedova fit into his role perfectly and had success as a three point shooter,
finishing the year with a 40.7 shooting percentage. Additionally, he plays hard on defense and even

On March 7, 1994, Governor Pete Wilson signed the Three Strikes into a Law (Jones). The Law has
caused a huge controversial debate and there are people that personally disagree with the law. As in
any controversial debate you would have the affirmative and the negative side. Let's explore some
of the positive facts that the Three Strikes Law that support the affirmative side. To start of with one
popular note is that it keeps the career criminals, individuals who commit crime as a part of their
lives, off the streets. Of course we want to keep the sex offenders, murderers, and rapist, off the
street so we can worry that much less for the safety of ourselves and others. Another positive is that
it is a deterrent. It is a very effective deterrent after the second conviction (Mersseli). If an offender
is released from the second conviction, this law will deter them from any crime, whether it is minor
or not. The thought of being sent to prison for 25 years to life is a pretty effective deterrent and will
have that offender thinking more than twice before he or she will commit another crime. One more
pro on the affirmative side is that is helps out the justice system. Let's admit it, our justice system is
not perfect and will probably never be perfect. Like everything else it has its flaws." The Three
Strikes Law is a way to provide fix for the flaws of our justice system

help his running mate Donald Trump restrict abortion rights. During the Values Voters Summit in
Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence appeared before a largely evangelical
group at the Voters Summit in Washington, D.C. His promise to help Trump restrict abortion rights
and appoint right–wing Supreme Court justices drew loud applause from the audience, Mother
Jones reports. "Let me be clear: People who know me well know I'm pro–life, and I don't apologize
for it," Pence told the Christians on Saturday. "I want to live to see the day that we put the sanctity
of life back at the center of American law, and we send Roe v. Wade to the

The Jones Consumerism
The Joneses is a dramatic hollywood film that also premiered at TIFF in September 13, 2009. This
movie isn't like most dramas and has some unbelievables twist; ultimately, it shows the not so caring
of certain individuals and how they can turn a blind eye to things that don't affect them. Even
though if it something of that magnitude was to happen in their life they would expect remorse from
everyone close to them. In the Joneses, Amber Heard as Jenn Jones, Demi Moore as Kate Jones the
sister, David Duchovny as Steve Jones, and Ben Hollingsworth as Mike jones the son the casting
was done well each actor and actress played their role extremely well. The film takes an extreme
view on consumerism; although, the plot takes a extremely heartbreaking

Lennie Character Analysis

  • 1. Lennie Character Analysis Eugene Hong English 1 Honors 18 September 2017 Lennie Small: The innocent, the illusion, and the reality In Steinbeck's 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, Lennie Small is a huge man cursed with the inability to process things quicker than others. Lennie also is slow to show emotion and socialize with others. Through this young and innocent mind, Steinbeck utilizes Lennie to show the vulnerability of the innocence, the vision of the American Dream, and the cold, harsh reality that many people faced. Lennie's young and child–like mind makes him one of the most unusual characters as he has such a big figure, yet his obsession with puppies and tending the rabbits makes him more like a young boy than a grown man. Lennie's innocence makes him a good companion to travel with as his clean heart rubs off on George, a small man who enjoys being alone. Lennie gets George to start opening about himself and his dream. In the first part of the story, we find out that "Why he'd do any damn thing I tol' him. If I tol' him to walk over a cliff he'd go"(40). We see a strict loyalty to only George as he tells Slim about Lennie's disability. We see how easy it was, back then, to manipulate "disabled" people and control them to follow your commands. However, not only does Lennie follow George's commands, because of his child–like mind, he acts like a young baby to George. " 'You drink some, George. You take a good big drink.' He smiled happily" (3). Because of the way Lennie's mind thinks, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Nfl Rhetorical Analysis [I]note: This is a part 2 of a previous blog I made, [The Worst Owners in the NFL|http://aminoapps.com/p/jw9fvy] [CI]Well, here we are again. I really liked this topic last time, so I'm gonna go through some more owners that I forgot to go over last time. I will be going into full detail on why these owners suck. Lets do it. [BC]Stephen Ross [IMG=K0F] [C]Ross purchased the Dolphins in 2009, and since then, they have made the playoffs a grand total of 1 time. Even then, it only happened because they had literally the weakest schedule in the NFL and a playoff birth handed to them on a silver platter. They are 65–79 since Ross took over, and it has been nothing but incompetence. He had Bill Parcells as his executive VP of football operations, but Parcells left because he didn't want to deal with Ross' ineptitude. He kept Jeff Ireland around from 2009 to 2014. That is about 3 years too long. How bad was Ireland? Well, to put it bluntly, the fans protested him having a job for years, and he couldn't get another front office job and is now a college scout for the saints. He supported now former head coach Joe Philbin, despite him being completely unable to lead a team, as displayed by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The front office is full of morons, and other than Mariota and (maybe) Derrick Henry, there is no development of players. He almost brought Mularkey BACK for 2018 but finally ho his shit together and fired him. Like, seriously. Also, Bud Adams flipped off the Bills in front of an entire stadium. What a fucking ... In 1892 she and her family immigrated to America. America and I is an autobiographical short story, in which takes up important themes such as the American Dream and the journey to fulfil ones goals in life. In "America and I," the author recalls moving from Russia to America. We hear about her expectations when she first arrives, which are filled with hope and dreams of making a better life, than her ancestors. She expects to find a country similar to the stories about the opportunities. At her first job as a maid for an Americanized Russian family, she soon discovers how wrong she was. She works ... While we follow Anzia's course, we also get a very clear picture of how the conditions where in the time period. – And how big a part The American Dream played in the everyday life of all the different people. Anzia is a rare example of social mobility. She started from the scratch as an immigrant and ended up as an educated author. To put this short story into perspective, we can look at America today. Both today and back then, there wasn't much social mobility. In America there is and always have been believed that with hard work, anyone can make it. In the documentary, Money, Power and the American Dream, we get a clear image of how strong the American Dream still exists in the Americans. The promise of how everyone can become everything and achieve their goals with hard work. It is in the documentary clear, how that is not true. The social immobility is at its highest, and the poor are getting less and less, whereas the rich are getting richer and richer. The short story deals with a lot of interesting themes and ancles. In a honest and true way, it shows the reader how the life was during that period of time, and how it shaped the next generation and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Parallels Between The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway and The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald During the decade of the 1920's, America was going through many changes, evolving from the Victorian Period to the Jazz Age. Changing with the times, the young adults of the 1920's were considered the "Lost Generation". The Great War was over in 1918. Men who returned from the war had the scars of war imprinted in their minds. The eighteenth amendment was ratified in 1919 which prohibited the manufacture, sale, or transportation of liquor in the United States. Despite the eighteenth amendment, most people think of large, lavish parties when thinking about the 1920's. The nineteenth amendment was passed in 1920 which gave women ... In comparison, many of the characters of The Great Gatsby drank excessively, keeping in mind the story was set in the United States during prohibition. Jay Gatsby, a bootlegger, threw large, lavish parties at his grand estate during the summer evenings where the alcohol, food and music flowed. Characters such as Tom and Daisy Buchanan, Myrtle Wilson, Jordan Baker, and Nick Carraway enjoyed parties and drank excessively. Another important parallel to point out under the vice of excessive drinking is the fact that both Hemingway and Fitzgerald drank excessively. Their excessive drinking behaviors caused their writing to suffer (McDowell 91). The second parallel between a vice in Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises and Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is that of sexual promiscuity. The most promiscuous character in The Sun Also Rises is Brett Ashley. Nicholas McDowell described here as " . . . an English aristocrat, alcoholic and promiscuous" (McDowell 47). Here is a woman who is engaged to be married to Mike Campbell and had affairs with Robert Cohen and Pedro Romero while engaged. She has a deep affection towards Jake Barns as well, however due to his sexual impotence, no sexual relationship developed. "Why Did I Get Married?" directed and produced by Tyler Perry is a movie based on four couples who take a reunion vacation to the Colorado Mountains in order to reunite with friends from college. On this vacation things didn't go according to plan. At the end of the film, the audience learns what happened to Mike that changed him forever. Mike documented these experiences through video recordings and photographs that were shared with his father. Through the grainy video recordings we see Mike driving a military convey. Under military standing orders, a soldier is not allowed to stop a vehicle for anything in the middle of the road. If "someone or something gets in front of you, you do not stop. [If] you stop, shitheads pop up with RPG's and kill you all dead" (In the Valley of Elah 2007). Under orders, Mike speeds up the military convey and runs over a child. He proceeds to get out of the vehicle and takes a photograph with his cellphone of the boy's dead body on the side of the road. That moment changed Mike forever. Running over a child during the first week of deployment had an immense impact on Mike and his behavior. Mike calls his father and says "you gotta get me out of here," "something happened, Dad." Hank asks his son if there "is anybody there with [him]?" because he does not want his son to be seen as weak while crying on the phone. This scene continues to add to the stress that Mike faces in Iraq. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place; they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling. Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands of home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly payment). To address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates are low which prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called 'tranches'. The lowest tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was the last mortgages to be paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard & Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were risky investments. The agencies, whom were being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to these risky bonds. Que the creation of the Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO). Luke Cage's signature yellow and Harlem references are not the only things that stand out. With a show that features sex, violence and a lot of swearing, viewers are quick to point out Obama's name. The American Dream Opportunities are all over the place in America, a person can come from nothing and work hard and manage to come out in the end successful, the opportunities are far and wide. American culture revels on individualism: Freedom of speech, liberation, and the value of an individual are some of the things that are associated with America. The American dream where folks in the US have the liberty to follow their dreams, no matter how crazy or unconventional they are. And while the economy might be crumbling and social mobility isn't exactly easy, a lot of people still manage to achieve what they want through hard work, luck and determination. Unfortunately, the American dream is becoming more and more materialistic. I suppose when you look back at America from 40 to 50 years ago to now, it has always been a bit materialistic, but viewing America today vs back then, it is a nation that has become obsessed with shopping and buying unnecessary products. It seems almost predetermined that our nation would be centered on material goods because when our land was first established, it had immeasurable riches. People from all over the world come into this country in search of the American dream, which involved, above all, freedom. However, the American dream has vastly transformed into a country where cultures united and solidified into a materialistic culture. The Crisis Management And Controversy Today Is General Motors AND THEIR CRISIS MANAGEMENT June 16, 2014 BA 400, Section 101 Prof. Michael VanHemert Introduction One of the biggest companies that are facing crisis management and controversy today is General Motors (GM). In an article titled "General Motors announces 30th recall of year," by Rebecca Cook, the company has now recalled over 13.8 million cars worldwide since January 2014. The most controversial recall occurred on April 1, when over 4 million cars were recalled due to faulty ignition switches that can cause the engine to shut off, which then prevents power steering and brakes to function, as well as prevent the airbags to inflate during a crash. Corporate governance is the formal system of oversight, accountability, and control for organizational decisions and resources. Investigations show that Delphi, the auto supplier that produced the ignition switch parts for GM, stated that GM approved the parts back in 2001 even though they were aware that the quality of the parts was substandard and they did not meet the specifications (Spangler). This is due to the fact that the responsible quality engineers were not being held accountable for their actions when reviewing and approving production parts from suppliers. The lack of an accountability system throughout the company also created a dysfunctional corporate culture. According to the article "The 'GM Nod:' 315 Scathing Pages on General Motors' Culture," by Mike Spector, a 315–page report describes the actions, or lack of it, the committees who were delegated to create a solution to the issues about the ignition switch. The report described the "GM Nod," in which meeting participants nod in agreement over actions that should be taken, but then did not follow through with it or did nothing at all. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a 1967 American comedy–drama film produced and directed by Stanley Kramer, and written by William Rose. Personally to me the film was more of a serious type of film, I personally wouldn't call it a comedy The film Guess who's coming to dinner won two Academy Awards and two British Academy Film Awards. In my opinion guess who is not meant to be taken seriously. The film creators of Guess Who are basically making a joke about the whole thing. Rose explains how even dealing with the issues and difficulty of a highly respected professor you can still somehow find comfort as a student and learn to deal with the issues of the professor in your own way. • 17. The American Dream The American dream is the concept of living in a society that values equality and the ability to achieve prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. It means to me that you are not limited and have equal opportunities to conquer your dream career. The American Dream is living purely, happily, and healthy with enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle. However, in my opinion this dream really shouldn't be about accumulating a plethora of material possessions. I believe the sense of satisfaction you get for giving back to your community is a much greater reward. Before the Civil War, the concept of the American Dream was simply having freedom, rights, a home, and a healthy family. The goal was much simpler and straight–forward back then. Now consider what we all "dream" about today: we not only dream of a steady job, but instead we dream of a career that gives us a great sense of personal satisfaction. Today, it appears most people look to achieve a position that gives them status, independence, and excitement. Many individuals look to collaborate with others who share some of the same ambitions. It seems that society is now filled with those who place an exaggerated importance on living in a place that has all the latest conveniences as a way to show off their money. This is an example of the how the concept of the American Dream has been revised over the generations. The mortgage crisis of the early twenty–first century again altered the idea of the ... It works as a commemoration for social and personally expressive. During the 20 centuries, many people who died of AIDS related causes did not have funerals since the surviving family members felt social imputation of AIDS, and many funeral homes or cemeteries refused to accept the deceased's remains. This social phenomenon made AIDS activist, Cleve Jones, have an idea for the AIDS Memorial Quilt. In the candlelight March in1985, Jones asked people to write the names of their family members who were killed by the AIDS–related causes on signs. Then he was inspired by the signs that were taped on the San Francisco Federal Building. To Jones, all the signs looked like a huge patchwork quilt. However, after about twenty minutes of this, when we had perfected the technique to our satisfaction, we struck upon another brilliant idea. You see, my backyard culminates in a massive hill that was formed when Interstate 255 was built. The highway service road, Kinswood Lane, sits directly atop the hill, and just over its crest is the highway. Standing on the top of the hill, gazing over the traffic whizzing by on the interstate, Mike and I were both struck with the same thought. We filled a balloon half with water, half with air, the optimal mixture for detonation on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Hide The Decline The Other Deletion Analysis Blog post: "Hide the Decline – the Other Deletion." By Steve McIntyre. Climate Audit, March 21, 2011. As noted previously, Briffa data was deleted after 1960. (Smoothing was done after the deletion further accentuating the impact of the deletion of post–1960 data.) In addition, and this point has not been previously discussed, Briffa and Osborn did not show data prior to 1550 for the Briffa MXD reconstruction. I'd previously noticed that an archive for Jones et al 1998 (surprisingly) contained a Briffa version that is linearly related to the Science graphic – the match is shown as a dotted line. (The basis of the linear relationship is not reported and not known to me at present, but can nonetheless be used empirically to show the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The general allegation about dishonest presentations is uncomfortable, but these are often scientifically difficult judgements, and are being argued out. What is the correct solution to this scandal? If the institutes of higher learning are honest, they should fire all those who are involved. Jones, Mann etal. Wanna bet they keep their jobs? This makes these institutes co–conspirators. The NSF released its conclusions last week and, following standard protocol for investigations, did not mention Mann by name. "We do not identify the subject by name due to privacy considerations," said Susan Carnohan, chief of staff to the inspector general. We need to focus on fundementals. Apart from the odd troll, everyone here will, for some time, have had a pretty good idea whether Phil Jones or Richard Lindzen is a more credible scientist. Or indeed whether or not RC is more reliable than CA or WUWT. All involved need to be thrown in prison and tried for treason, fraud, theft, and being very stupid. None deserve to be called "scientist" – they are all hacks – and not very good ones either. When scientists color the science with their own PERSONAL views or make categorical statements without presenting the evidence for such statements, they have a clear responsibility to state that that is what they are doing. You have failed to do so. Indeed, what you are doing is, in my view, a form of dishonesty more subtle but no less egregious than the statements made by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. What Really Happened on 9/11? Essay examples As most Americans know, for over 10 years already, we have been in a war with Afghanistan due to the World Trade Center attack on 9/11. The war had a stated goal to dismantle the Taliban and a terrorist organization called "Al–Qaeda," as well as to end Al–Qaeda's use of Afghanistan as their base for making facilities such as terrorist training camps and secretive underground bases. The War on Terror began on October 7th, 2001, as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks where nearly 3,000 innocent American citizens lost their lives. Many people do believe that the terrorist attack was a "false flag" operation on America by the Elite who run the country with a goal to run oil pipelines from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan all the way to ... It came from below me, the floor went up like a shock wave hit it, and the roof collapsed on me and 14 other people, most dead." However, when Rodriguez went to report his experience with the commission, he was shocked by what happened. "I met with the 9/11 Commission behind closed doors and they essentially discounted everything I said regarding the use of explosives to take down the North Tower". Why did the 9/11–commission meet with people like William Rodriguez "behind closed doors"? There are true witnesses that experienced the 9/11 attacks first hand who didn't even get their stories put into the 9/11 Commission Report. Misinformation about the attacks on 9/11 does not end with people's first–hand accounts being disregarded. According to Steven Jones, a former Physics Professor, super thermite was found in samples that he had taken of the dust in the World Trade Center a few weeks after the attack. Super Thermite or ST for short is a substance that is highly flammable and when mixed with paint, it is almost impossible to tell that it exists in the solution unless tested. When mixed, the heat that it produces burns at a blazing 2500 degrees F, more than 2 times the heat that burning jet fuel produces. Mr. Jones's conclusion was that during the ongoing construction on the WTC, they might have mixed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Three Strikes And Youre Out Law Essay Three Strikes You're Out Law We have all heard of the newest anti–crime law, the "Three strikes and you're out" law. It wasn't easy getting this law from the bill stage in Sacramento to the law stage, because it is not a criminal friendly law. Meaning that this law's purpose is to bring pain, suffering, and intimidation to criminals. Our state government was basically ran by the Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, now mayor of San Francisco. Brown had the power to choose who sat on what committee in the house, and using this he could terminate any bill he did not agree with. And with this attitude it took a lot of patients and perseverance by the people trying to pass this bill. But how did the bill become a bill? I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Probation, a suspended sentence, or a commitment to a diversion program as a substitute for serving time in prison is prohibited for felons with at least one prior conviction of a serious or violent felony. Any felon with at least one prior serious or violent felony conviction must serve any subsequent felony sentence in a state prison (as opposed to a county jail). • 34. Matthew Dellavedova Case Study With free agency looming the Cleveland Cavaliers have a bunch of decisions to make. Majority of the Cavs players are scheduled to become free agents and the goal is to keep the team intact. The front office's first priority is re–signing LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith, and Iman Shumpert, but what about the rest of the Cavalier bench? First up, Matthew Dellavedova. The point guard rose to stardom in the NBA finals and may be seeking a premium deal. The Cavs intend to make an offer to the restricted free agent, but it shouldn't be more than what a backup is worth. Dellavedova has limited value and he proved that in the playoffs. Although he is a feisty player, he is also an undersized guard who can't walk the ball up the court. His lack of court vision limits his ability to get teammates involved. This may be true, but that is not his best suited role on this team. There is no need to handle the ball and attack the rim when you have LeBron and Kyrie Irving on your team. Dellavedova fit into his role perfectly and had success as a three point shooter, finishing the year with a 40.7 shooting percentage. Additionally, he plays hard on defense and even though his hustle style of play is coveted, the Cavs can still upgrade at the point guard position. It wouldn't come as a shock if ... Statements from many saying that it is unjust and unfair, while others say that is what our society needs in order to keep this world safe from those career criminals. On March 7, 1994, Governor Pete Wilson signed the Three Strikes into a Law (Jones). The Law has caused a huge controversial debate and there are people that personally disagree with the law. As in any controversial debate you would have the affirmative and the negative side. Let's explore some of the positive facts that the Three Strikes Law that support the affirmative side. To start of with one popular note is that it keeps the career criminals, individuals who commit crime as a part of their lives, off the streets. Of course we want to keep the sex offenders, murderers, and rapist, off the street so we can worry that much less for the safety of ourselves and others. Another positive is that it is a deterrent. It is a very effective deterrent after the second conviction (Mersseli). If an offender is released from the second conviction, this law will deter them from any crime, whether it is minor or not. The thought of being sent to prison for 25 years to life is a pretty effective deterrent and will have that offender thinking more than twice before he or she will commit another crime. One more pro on the affirmative side is that is helps out the justice system. Let's admit it, our justice system is not perfect and will probably never be perfect. Like everything else it has its flaws." The Three Strikes Law is a way to provide fix for the flaws of our justice system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
