2. COMPUTER ASSISTED SECOND LANGUAGE
VOCABULARY ACQUISITION
By Peter J.M. Groot
This investigation is Qualitative.
Finding whether students learn more vocabulary using a special computer software or not
was one of the author’s objectives. And, if it is so In what percentage they actually do?
The hypothesis is that students learn, more and faster, vocabulary by using a special
computer software. This software is called CAVOCA.
The method used was the observation and survey in order to find out whether the students
really learn vocabulary being assisted by a computer software.
The participants are university students who are starting to learn English, stage when
learning vocabulary is mandatory for them.
At the end of the investigation, all data collected is measured and shown in charts and
graphics
3. Results shown in charts
Choosing a random and determined
sample was necessary for the author in
order to find out whether the use of
computer software actually helps
students during the stage of learning
new vocabulary in second language
learning.

4. A ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY WITH DISTANCE LEARNERS
IN AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM
By Pramela Krish
In this case, the research is Descriptive
During this research, the communicative approach was applied.
The research question is: How these role play activities could be performed so
that they be really useful when a second language is being thaught.
Observation was necessary to find out if these activities really work. It was also
necessary do interviews to know the students’ opinion about this way of
teaching.
The phenomena which is being investigated cannot be measured and
presented in charts. It is a problem that requires observation and taking out a
conclusion. Once this has been done, a new theory about using role play
activities is created.
5. The conclusion got once finished the investigation was: teachers have to find the
correct way to stimulate and facilitate the use of spoken English.
