Back Bay Environment
By taking action to protect the local environment through picking up trash and removing invasive species, I helped ensure a bright future for future
generations as well as a healthier local ecosystem. When I helped out on a back bay cleanup, I not only directly affected the health of the area, but I
influenced others to help take back the back bay from the many invasive species of plants that would consume the ecosystem if left alone. On my trip
to The Newport Bay Conservatory, I picked up many pieces of trash, include bits of plastic and other man–made composites that would never
decompose. Another big thing I did to help reconstruct the Back Bay was to remove invasive plants. I pulled up many types of invasive plants
including the infamous Pampas Grass. As well as ridding the bay of invasive plants that could take over the entire ecosystem, I also helped collect...

By taking part in the conservation of the bay, I have helped plant the seed for future generations who still care for the environment. The hours I put into
taking care of the back bay may not be significant in the long run, but hey are a place that others can build off of to create a real impact on the local
ecosystem. This in turn will have a larger effect on society's well–being. The more people help to conserve local ecosystems, the more the positive
mentality spreads, making the communities better places in general. It all starts with simple bay cleanups, and in no time the entire community will
see a change occur as they start to make the world a better place. Even one small act of conservation in a person's life, whether it be picking up a
piece of trash or taking part in bay cleanup, can not only help the environment but, it can also lead to self–gratification, yet another benefit to taking
time to help the world in any way, no matter how

Argentina Description
RepГєblica Argentina is a country that consists of high mountains, jungles, and flat plains. The lowest and highest points are both found on the
western hemisphere: Laguna Del Carbon at 105m below sea level and Cerro Aconcagua at 6960m. Located east of the scrublands of the Gran Chaco
and the plains of the Pampas, the city of Buenos Aires lies and extends northward towards Paraguay. Patagonia makes up Argentina's southerly region,
covered with fjords, lakes, and u–shaped valleys which covers roughly 17,000 square kilometers, third largest ice field in the world. Cape Horn makes
up the southern region of South America, which is one of the most dangerous shipping regions due to its strong westerly winds. Argentina was

Personal Narrative: My Name's Matt Wells
Hi. My name's Matt Wells. My cousin, Marc Wells, and I are at the very early stages of launching something I believe you and your team will be
very interested in. I've got some ideas on ways we may be able to do some business together and would love to talk with you on the phone, even if
only for a few minutes, to discuss.
My cousin Marc and I are franchise owners with a greeting card and gifting company called SendOutCards. Have you heard of us yet?
Marc is an inmate in Pampa, TX and is the one who came up with the idea to join me in the greeting card industry and focus on prison inmates. Marc's
been behind bars approximately 9 years now and knows, first hand, the importance of mail time in an inmate's life.
Today he's going around to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With our system, your wife can be in the bleachers at Junior's softball game, snap a pic of him in the game, put it on the card and send it to you. All
from her smartphone while at the softball game. If it's that easy to make cards and notes to send to you (waiting in Dr office, in line at grocery
store, etc) do you think she'll send you more Love in the mail, or less? What if everyone in your family and all your friends on the outside had this
card sending app on their phones? You think you'd get more contact from your loved ones, or less?"
We recently secured the URL GreetingCardsForInmates.com. As I write this letter to you, that URL is simply forwarded to our replicated
SendOutCards website however we are in the process of creating a new website for the GreetingCardsForInmates "conversation" if you will.
I hope you don't see what we're doing as competition to what you're doing. We're not your competition at all, in fact, quite the contrary. Again, I've
got several ideas I'd like to discuss with you. www.SendOutCards.com/WriteAPrisoner is not a thing today. But for a mere $59 per year it can be.
And, I believe, it can become a significant stream of income to help support the amazing work you and your team are doing.
I read your letter at http://www.writeaprisoner.com/why–write–a–prisoner/default.aspx and was impressed – and inspired.
I hope we can talk soon. My personal cell phone number is 228–669–0811. Please

Argentina Traditions
El Dia de TradiciГіn (The day of tradition) is celebrated on November 10th. The week is full of parties, concerts, parades, and feasts. November
10th is when Jose Hernandez is born. He is famous there for living in Pampas, he wrote a very popular poem that lots of people in Argentina knows.
Another event that Argentina has is El Carnaval del Pais. It has festivities like a carnival but more different. Most schools and places close for this
event of argentina. The town of Gualeguaychu hosts the biggest Carnaval out of all the towns. There is a 38,000 seat center which is called
Corsodromo. There singers, musicians, and other people compete for the King of the Carnival title. Lots of traditional any delicious foods are made
during this day.

Period 3: Portugal's Powerful Occupation Of Portugal
Period three was mining of gold and diamonds from the 1690s to the 1750s––carried Portugal's powerful occupation of the land far into the indoors of

along the Rio Jequitinhonha in Minas Gerais after 1730, shifted the colonial center away from the Northeast coast into the indoors. Minas Gerais

The Pampa Biome
The Mata AtlГўntica biome has been deforested over centuries and efforts to halt its destruction have gained momentum over the last few years, with
an increase in the creation of protected areas and specific laws (such as Federal Law 11.428/2006 and Federal Decree 6.660/2008). These measures
have helped to increase the coverage in some of the deforested areas. This biome is responsible for providing important ecosystem services to the
approximately 120 million people who live within its limits . The Pampa biome, despite its importance in the carbon sequestration process and erosion
control, is still very vulnerable to threats. The expansion of cattle ranching and monocultures, such as eucalyptus and soy plantations, have incentivized

Pten Synthesis
PTEN (Phosphatase and tensin homolog) is a phophatase known for negatively regulating the pathways downstrteam of AKT (protein kinase B), which
are involved in cell survival, proliferation and migration. In the central nervous system (CNS), Pten mutation can cause hypertrophy and ectopic
ramification of dendrites, macrocephaly and increase of anormal synapses. Along with these morphological anomalies, alterations in memory processes,
synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis are also observed. Accordingly, there are several diseases associated to Pten mutations, including autism spectrum
disorders. On the other hand, physical exercise when practiced during pregnancy can provide beneficial effects to the offspring, including improved
short–term memory and learning and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PTEN expression decreased in offspring descendant of progenitors submitted to voluntary physical exercise. Synaptophysin expression decreased in
mice with Pten parcial deletion when compared to wild type. Maternal physical exercise also promoted decrease of synaptophysin expression in wild
type animals. Differences in AMPA (О±
–amino–3–hydroxy–5–methyl–4–isoxazolepropionic acid) receptor, p–AMPA receptor, pAMPA/AMPA ratio
and PSD 95 expression were not detected regardless of phenotype and experimetal group. The decrease of synaptophysin expression in HT mice
could be one of the mechanisms responsible for the animal phenotype, considering its important role in synaptic plasticity and memory. Maternal
physical exercise was also shown to decrease synaptophysin expression, which could be a consequence of the decrease in PTEN expression promoted
by maternal physical exercise. Some models show that physical exercise can decrease PTEN expression in neurons, which could be benefficial by
increasing its regenerative potential, however the consequences in this particular model are no

Biography Of Dr. Layne Heitz Essay
On October 12, 2015, I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Layne Heitz. He is a math professor that specializes in teaching math teachers. I was
able to learn about how Dr. Heitz has arisen to the position he is at now. From this interview, I learned many things about his life and my
experience has helped me in deciding my major. I observed the place he teaches and works in, I also learned about his accomplishment. For
example, the committees he is a member of and his publications. Overall, the interview was very discerning and interesting. Dr. Heitz's office is in
the Math building which is also where his classes are held. This semester he is teaching four classes. The math building is very old and may need
remodeling. It is also smaller compared to other buildings on campus. His office is located in the far northwest corner and is easily accessible. He has
an open space in his office for any guests but his desk was slightly cluttered and his walls were filled with objects that reflect his life, both his
professional and his personal life. There is at least one picture of one of his two sons. There are two painting made by his wife April. One is of a tiger
and the other is of a fox. There are also deer and duck mounts on the wall by his desk. There were certificates and awards on the wall for the
committees he's on and his diploma. Dr. Heitz is in his 50's and he is from Texas. He stated that he knew he always wanted to be a math teacher. As a

Pampa Biome
The Brazilian Pampa is located between latitudes 28Вє00' S and 34Вє00' S and longitudes 49Вє30' W and 58Вє00' W, occupying an area of 63% of
the Rio Grande do Sul State. The biome lies within the South Temperate Zone and has both subtropical and temperate climates with four
well–characterized seasons. Grasslands, with sparse shrub and tree formations, are the dominant vegetation. Because of the natural grasslands, livestock
production is one of the main economic activities (Roesch et al., 2009). Despite the ecological and economical importance, the anthropogenic land use

The management of agricultural land is considered one of the most significant human activities capable of changing the soil characteristics. Intensive
agricultural practices are an important factor contributing to the degradation of soil properties (GarcГa–Orenes et al., 2009; Maitima et al., 2009)
leading to lower levels of organic matter (Fliessbach et al., 2007; SchjГёnning et al., 2007) and changes in soil microbial diversity and activity (Nicol
et al., 2003; Govaerts et al., 2007). Many studies have shown that land use determines the composition of soil bacterial communities (Wallenius et al.,
2011; Osborne et al., 2011) and the bacterial communities are more sensitive to land use changes than the soil chemical and physical properties
(Romaniuk et al., 2011). On the other hand, the use of land affected indirectly the bacterial community structure but it does not deplete bacterial
diversity under the imposed environmental conditions (Jesus et al., 2009; Suleiman et al.,

The biome that I chose was the grasslands because it seemed very interesting and very exciting. This biome has lots of interesting stuff like the animals
and plants, but mostly how the food chain is there. The grasslands are very unique, but there are some very dangerous animals, but there plants are very
pretty looking.I also chose this biome because I want to learn what lives there and what type of plants grow there. The things that I will be talking about
are where the grasslands are located, how the climate and soil is,what animals and plants grow there, what is their food chain like, and some interesting
things.

Egrets are another addition to the wetlands family, 14 types of them at the wetlands. As far as plants go, the rainforest located in the wetlands holds
71 species of plants from 42 families of native plants and introduced species. These include lantara camara, a type of weed, the Moth Vine and the
Purpletop. (Wetlands.org.au) Humans impact the wetlands in very many ways. Many people like to pollute the environment of the wetlands with
rubbish, smoking and eating. Yes, there are designated smoking areas, however many people disregard these signs and continue to smoke around the
wetlands, thus putting smoke into the air, affecting the plants and animals around them. This also goes for rubbish as many people do not use bins
provided to disperse their rubbish. This makes the surroundings not clean and could potentially injure some of the animals if the rubbish is consumed.
(Own thoughts) The distribution and abundance of the wetlands is a very vague topic, however as there are very limited species, there should not be
any worry of distributing the animals and plants, however there are various weeds etc that could potentially harm the plants and animals and there are
more and more being found in the wetlands themselves. This is also a serious issue and if not treated soon, could affect more and

Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land
Woody Guthrie was a singer/songwriter/musician who wrote nearly 3000 songs. His most famous song, "This Land is Your Land," was written in
1940. I learned to sing it in grade school as did countless children since the 1940s. Guthrie wrote it because he was tired of the radio overplaying
Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." He thought Berlin's song was unrealistic and complacent (Woody Guthrie). One of Guthrie's most notable traits
as a songwriter was his capacity to connect his audience to their heritage and the land. The purpose of this essay is to examine the life of Woody
Guthrie and to explore how he connected his listeners to their heritage and the land. This essay will, first, present a brief history and description of
Woody Guthrie. Second, it will detail how Woody Guthrie has been influential to other artists and to shaping public opinion. Third, this essay will

miles, and, if severe enough, blocked sunlight from reaching the earth. They continued for over a decade and removed multiple feet of rich topsoil
from the farm fields. The soil was carried across the United States and blew as far as 300 miles off the Atlantic

Nazca Lines: A Water Cult or Early Astronomical Worship
Nazca lines: water cult or early astronomical worship?
The geoglyphs on the Pampa de Nazca in Peru are as stunning as they are mysterious. Many, many theories surround the lines such as aliens, slaves,
or tribute to the dead. The lines could have been created as an extension of the Inca Ceque lines in Cusco for part of the water cult and the worship of
the water and mountain deities, or perhaps they were created to please a 'sky god' seen during the unusual amount of solar eclipses during the time of
construction or even as a depiction of constellations and zodiac knowledge.
Many ancient cultures, with the ancient Nazcas included, believed the sun and moon to be deities or eyes of an otherwise invisible sky god. This would
be reinforced on the occasion of a solar eclipse where a 'ring of fire' is formed as the moon crosses the path of the sun, creating an eye–like shape as
seen in figure 1 and 2. Three major eclipses occurred over the Pampa de Nazca beginning in 97 CE and coinciding with the beginning of the
construction of the lines (Edgar, R. 2000). This has given rise to the theory that these spectacular artworks were signs or appreciation for the gods of
the sky. When the Nazca lines were supposedly created between is debated and varies from 97 CE to 400 and 650 CE. The Nazca people constructed
the lines by digging into the pampa to expose the lighter earth beneath and due to dry conditions and little erosion they have remained visible (Alford,
A. F. 1998). Some lines

Nasa's Travel To Mars
Reality may finally be stranger than fiction. Or at least science fiction inspired by the book and subsequent blockbuster "The Martian." In the book,
Astronaut Mark Watney grew potatoes to survive on Mars. NASA is now attempting to recreate fiction with the assistance of the Lima–based
International Potato Center. And Russia may not be far behind in the great potato space race of the 22nd century.
NASA Putting Potential Mars Spuds to the Test
Researchers have chosen the Pampas de La Joya Desert in Peru as their test site. It is one of the driest places on the planet humans presently call
home. It is also a section of the Atacama Desert, a vast plot of desert similar to Mars–like conditions. And more importantly, Mars–like soil. NASA
plans on planting 65 varieties of viable spuds in more than 1,300 pounds of soil. NASA has been experimenting with a variety of plausible food
sources for Mars. If successful, they plan on transporting potatoes to Mars in special refrigerated tubes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A one–way trip to Mars is estimated to take about 18 months. However, Russia proposes a shorter itinerary. While NASA is growing potatoes in Peru,
Russia has developed a plan to revolutionize space travel. They have been experimenting with a nuclear engine for space travel. Other Mars enthusiasts
like Elon Musk plans to launch humans toward the Red Planet within a decade. Space One, a Dutch non–profit is planning a permanent Mars colony to
be in place in roughly ten years time as well.

Consumer Behavior (Argentina) Essay
Argentina
Argentina is the 2nd largest South American and Latin–American region. With a population of just over 40 million people, the Spanish speaking
country has multiple aspects of consumer behavior that influence the way that people spend.
Marketing in Argentina is communicated in ways very similar to the United States. Radio and television are large factors in how marketers reach
consumers in Argentina. There are 170 AM radio stations and 2000 FM radio stations in Argentina with about twelve million radio sets in use and 46
television broadcasting stations with some eight million TV sets in use. Although themarketing tactics are similar they are not as widespread as they
are in the US. To put it into perspective there are roughly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a 37.2% GDP increase the economy found itself expanding, consolidating, and becoming more multinational. Consumers were well off and
becoming wealthier as the GDP rose from 1991 to 1998. They experienced a great deal of product differentiation ranging from new types of
products, to better quality of products, and more expensive products. However, in 1998 this all had to change because of a 7% decrease in GDP over
the next year. During this time consumers had to learn how to focus their spending on sub–brands and discounted offers to save money. Marketers and
businesses had to adjust also by switching their focus from product differentiation to cost–cutting strategies. Between 1998 and 2000 there was an
increase of 36% percent in the number of retail stores in the country but a fall of 23% in sales. This statistic shows how tough of a time that both
consumers and businesses had to adjust to in order to try to slow down the economic regression.
There are many different cohorts or marketing that could be used to look at the spending during the economic recession. Things such as age and income
are two main cohorts that are often times looked at my marketers to determine the best way to supply products. Location is another large influence of
the way that sales are determined. Certain geographical areas of Argentina were experiencing more growth than others following the recession of the
late 1990's. Argentina is broken into

Peytonia Slough Ecological Reserve: Personal Narrative...
I boarded the Amtrak the early morning of November 5th, 2016 from Davis, California to the Peytonia Slough Ecological Reserve (Peytonia Reserve)
in Suisun, California. The trip to this brackish and saltwater reserve was to help me analyze the relationship between humans and wildlife in urban
settings. Urban environments depend on the rehabilitation and protection of small natural areas like the Peytonia Reserve. At the Peytonia Reserve,
both humans and native/non–native species live in cohabitation, which paints an accurate representation of reconciliation ecology. Humans use these
natural areas, the Peytonia Reserve in this case, for recreational activities like hunting and fishing. This, in turn, benefits the wildlife that lives in the
area because hunters and fishers want the environment to be well maintained in order to support their activities. I came up with the conclusion that
even though humans have more to benefit from wildlife, wildlife also depends on humans to help protect and conserve their habitats.... Show more

Already, I was able to analyze that there was a big boating community. Another thing I noticed was that even before entering the path to the Peytonia
Reserve trail, there were already people fishing outside of the reserve. It gave me a clear indicator that many people, whether in Suisun or a nearby
town, depend on the reserve to satisfy their recreational needs through either boating or fishing. This is a great example of how humans benefit more
from the ecosystem, but in turn, the interest that humans have in the area protects the area from things like habitat destruction. The relationship
between humans and wildlife is unfortunate for wildlife to have to depend on humans but this is how humans and wildlife have cohabited the

Abstract
Argentina is one of the largest countries in the world. It is sitting at the eighth largest country. It is filled with many valuable minerals. Also,
Argentina has a great background of history. It was discovered by Juan D?az de Sol?s in early 16th century. It was disputed and is still being disputed
today! Sebastian Cabot went exploring in 1526. He established a fort named Sancti Sp?ritus. Then in 1529, the natives of Argentina wiped out the
whole fort, while Cabot was out looking for the ?City of Caesars.? Asunci?n and Buenos Aires played an important role in the rise of Argentina. It lured
many settlers from Spain. After the Independence Movement, the area went through some tough times. The country fought until they were free from
Spain. The government declared independence on July 9, 1816. A few years after that, the government fell apart.
The nation?s government is very similar to the government of the United States. It has a two–house congress. One house is called the Senate, and the
other house is called the Chamber of Deputies. Also, the Presidency is the same of the United States. They can serve only two four–year terms. The

California is a gardener's dream. Our Mediterranean climate allows us to have fantastic gardens showcasing a wide variety of ornamental plants from
all around the world. Some of those plants have become aggressive garden nuisances and others are invasive plants that threaten California's
biodiversity and economy.
NUISANCE PLANTS
These plants spread readily by seed or runners and crowd out their neighbors. Although they do not cause damage to the environment, they can get out
of hand in the home garden. Sweet alyssum is a lovely plant for filling spaces in the front of flower beds but it will re–seed in garden beds. To limit its

Ted Brown was faced with a decision of a lifetime. He could either take a summer job in the Bahamas or an internship at his local hospital. In my
opinion Ted should take the internship for many different reasons. He could make connections in the field he one day hopes to work in. Internships
look great on resumes and could help him get a job, and lastly he would be able to graduate on time. First and foremost the internship will be in
radiology, the field Ted wants to work in. The connections he could make while doing the internship would be ones he could never make anywhere
else. He would be working with and under, doctors and staff that could one day become his co workers. Internships also look good on resumes, and

Explain How the Social and Economic Changes Affected...
Explain How the Social and Economic Changes Affected Gaucho Life
Due to the huge migration to Latin America, foreigners introduced the gauchos to many changes that would have a lasting effect. Two of the main
changes felt by the gauchos included social and economic restructuring. One must understand that history about the gauchos can potentially be biased.
This is due to the fact that only news that is interesting is reported and only bad news is interesting. This clash of recorded history and actual history
causes us to question what actually occurred during this time period. The gauchos' lifestyle suffered greatly because of these social and economic
changes. New institutions, values and beliefs all aided the transformation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gauchos' social lives covered many interesting areas. These traditional acts decreased because of the new laws. Previously, gauchos would roam the
pampa, continuously moving onward to unknown destinations. This freedom became restricted with the invention of the fence. The fence also
impacted other areas of the gauchos' lives including economically. The fence forced thechange from a ranching to farming. The need for ranchers
decreased, which put gauchos out of work. These fences also kept animals contained to specific pastures. Before this gauchos would kill roaming
horses for fun, cattle for food and skins, and ostrich for feathers. These fences set territories that kept the gaucho from wandering freely. Another
change that kept the gaucho from wandering freely involved vagrancy laws. The government targeted to the gaucho and aimed to get rid of them, or at
least tame them. Gauchos now had to carry something similar to a travel permit. This again restricted their unique lifestyle. Because the government
viewed the gauchos as good fighters, they enlisted many to serve in the military. This impacted their lives socially and economically. Gauchos' social
lives slowed down enormously because of the military. They had to work continuously. Economically they benefited because they no longer had to
look for ways to support their basic needs. The government took care of making them sustain life.

The Ancient Civilization Of Nazca
The ancient civilization of Nazca is long disappeared and has granted one of the most significant legacies of ancient Peruvian culture. The Nazca has
not only etched their mark into the surface of the Nazca Desert but they left a mark that continues to intrigue scientists and modern society in the
present day. Actually, the Nazca left behind thousands of marks in the forms of various shapes, designs, mythological creatures, and a variety of
intricate geometric lines. It is evident that the popularity of the Nazca Lines continues to gain momentum as the previous lines are studied and awed
over as well as the new geoglyphs are still being discovered at this present time.
Located in the dry Peruvian coastal plain, some 400 km south of Lima, the geoglyphs of Nazca or Nasca and the pampas of Jumana cover
approximately 450 km2. The lines were scratched on the surface of the ground between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500. (Lines and Geoglyphs of Nasca
and Pampas de Jumana) The Nazca Lines were designed within the ground by removing the iron oxide coated reddish pebbles that lie on the surface
and uncovering a deeper whitish or grayish colored earth underneath. The color of the newly exposed earth creates a vivid contrast that allows for the
numerous well defined lines and creations. The figures range in size and the largest design is over six hundred and sixty feet across.

styles, starting with the thick wool poncho worn. Gauchos pants were called 'bombachas' which are described as very strong pure cotton pants; they
are made specifically to keep strong while horse riding. Another staple to a gauchos outfit are their wide brimmed hats, or every so often, they wore

About the accident itself, it would appear that the rich stranger was actually looking to die: he engages in the branding task in such a way that it
would seem as if he was intentionally trying to anger his branding partner. It is the Indian Chapaco, a figure that seems to be a devil incarnate, who

deed he would have found impossible to carry out, preferring to take it out on a card cheat. He then leaves, with parting words that seem to have
been pronounced by Loreto Silva himself. I imagine that in the years since Torcuato's disappearance, Elaria and Anacleto might have pondered once
and again what they valued the most: respect to the wishes of a man who had been generous to them, or the love they felt. These times must have been
hard, given the fact that even these lovers had been raised within the invisible and powerful confines of their father's faith. Having each other nearby
would not suffice. They were also prisoners to tradition, and thus were not free to enjoy their love

Back Bay Environment

  • 1. Back Bay Environment By taking action to protect the local environment through picking up trash and removing invasive species, I helped ensure a bright future for future generations as well as a healthier local ecosystem. When I helped out on a back bay cleanup, I not only directly affected the health of the area, but I influenced others to help take back the back bay from the many invasive species of plants that would consume the ecosystem if left alone. On my trip to The Newport Bay Conservatory, I picked up many pieces of trash, include bits of plastic and other man–made composites that would never decompose. Another big thing I did to help reconstruct the Back Bay was to remove invasive plants. I pulled up many types of invasive plants including the infamous Pampas Grass. As well as ridding the bay of invasive plants that could take over the entire ecosystem, I also helped collect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By taking part in the conservation of the bay, I have helped plant the seed for future generations who still care for the environment. The hours I put into taking care of the back bay may not be significant in the long run, but hey are a place that others can build off of to create a real impact on the local ecosystem. This in turn will have a larger effect on society's well–being. The more people help to conserve local ecosystems, the more the positive mentality spreads, making the communities better places in general. It all starts with simple bay cleanups, and in no time the entire community will see a change occur as they start to make the world a better place. Even one small act of conservation in a person's life, whether it be picking up a piece of trash or taking part in bay cleanup, can not only help the environment but, it can also lead to self–gratification, yet another benefit to taking time to help the world in any way, no matter how ... • 2. Argentina Description RepГєblica Argentina is a country that consists of high mountains, jungles, and flat plains. The lowest and highest points are both found on the western hemisphere: Laguna Del Carbon at 105m below sea level and Cerro Aconcagua at 6960m. Located east of the scrublands of the Gran Chaco and the plains of the Pampas, the city of Buenos Aires lies and extends northward towards Paraguay. Patagonia makes up Argentina's southerly region, covered with fjords, lakes, and u–shaped valleys which covers roughly 17,000 square kilometers, third largest ice field in the world. Cape Horn makes up the southern region of South America, which is one of the most dangerous shipping regions due to its strong westerly winds. Argentina was originated by two main ... My cousin Marc and I are franchise owners with a greeting card and gifting company called SendOutCards. Have you heard of us yet? Marc is an inmate in Pampa, TX and is the one who came up with the idea to join me in the greeting card industry and focus on prison inmates. • 6. The Pampa Biome The Mata AtlГўntica biome has been deforested over centuries and efforts to halt its destruction have gained momentum over the last few years, with an increase in the creation of protected areas and specific laws (such as Federal Law 11.428/2006 and Federal Decree 6.660/2008). These measures have helped to increase the coverage in some of the deforested areas. This biome is responsible for providing important ecosystem services to the approximately 120 million people who live within its limits . • 7. Pten Synthesis PTEN (Phosphatase and tensin homolog) is a phophatase known for negatively regulating the pathways downstrteam of AKT (protein kinase B), which are involved in cell survival, proliferation and migration. In the central nervous system (CNS), Pten mutation can cause hypertrophy and ectopic ramification of dendrites, macrocephaly and increase of anormal synapses. Along with these morphological anomalies, alterations in memory processes, synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis are also observed. Accordingly, there are several diseases associated to Pten mutations, including autism spectrum disorders. On the other hand, physical exercise when practiced during pregnancy can provide beneficial effects to the offspring, including improved short–term memory and learning and... The decrease of synaptophysin expression in HT mice could be one of the mechanisms responsible for the animal phenotype, considering its important role in synaptic plasticity and memory. Maternal physical exercise was also shown to decrease synaptophysin expression, which could be a consequence of the decrease in PTEN expression promoted by maternal physical exercise. Some models show that physical exercise can decrease PTEN expression in neurons, which could be benefficial by increasing its regenerative potential, however the consequences in this particular model are no ... I was able to learn about how Dr. Heitz has arisen to the position he is at now. From this interview, I learned many things about his life and my experience has helped me in deciding my major. I observed the place he teaches and works in, I also learned about his accomplishment. For example, the committees he is a member of and his publications. Overall, the interview was very discerning and interesting. Dr. Heitz's office is in the Math building which is also where his classes are held. This semester he is teaching four classes. The math building is very old and may need remodeling. It is also smaller compared to other buildings on campus. His office is located in the far northwest corner and is easily accessible. The biome lies within the South Temperate Zone and has both subtropical and temperate climates with four well–characterized seasons. The management of agricultural land is considered one of the most significant human activities capable of changing the soil characteristics. Intensive agricultural practices are an important factor contributing to the degradation of soil properties (GarcГa–Orenes et al., 2009; Maitima et al., 2009) leading to lower levels of organic matter (Fliessbach et al., 2007; SchjГёnning et al., 2007) and changes in soil microbial diversity and activity (Nicol et al., 2003; Govaerts et al., 2007). Many studies have shown that land use determines the composition of soil bacterial communities (Wallenius et al., 2011; Osborne et al., 2011) and the bacterial communities are more sensitive to land use changes than the soil chemical and physical properties (Romaniuk et al., 2011). On the other hand, the use of land affected indirectly the bacterial community structure but it does not deplete bacterial diversity under the imposed environmental conditions (Jesus et al., 2009; Suleiman et al., ... This also goes for rubbish as many people do not use bins provided to disperse their rubbish. This makes the surroundings not clean and could potentially injure some of the animals if the rubbish is consumed. (Own thoughts) The distribution and abundance of the wetlands is a very vague topic, however as there are very limited species, there should not be any worry of distributing the animals and plants, however there are various weeds etc that could potentially harm the plants and animals and there are more and more being found in the wetlands themselves. I learned to sing it in grade school as did countless children since the 1940s. Guthrie wrote it because he was tired of the radio overplaying Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." He thought Berlin's song was unrealistic and complacent (Woody Guthrie). One of Guthrie's most notable traits as a songwriter was his capacity to connect his audience to their heritage and the land. The purpose of this essay is to examine the life of Woody Guthrie and to explore how he connected his listeners to their heritage and the land. • 22. Nazca Lines: A Water Cult or Early Astronomical Worship Nazca lines: water cult or early astronomical worship? The geoglyphs on the Pampa de Nazca in Peru are as stunning as they are mysterious. Many, many theories surround the lines such as aliens, slaves, or tribute to the dead. The lines could have been created as an extension of the Inca Ceque lines in Cusco for part of the water cult and the worship of the water and mountain deities, or perhaps they were created to please a 'sky god' seen during the unusual amount of solar eclipses during the time of construction or even as a depiction of constellations and zodiac knowledge. Many ancient cultures, with the ancient Nazcas included, believed the sun and moon to be deities or eyes of an otherwise invisible sky god. This would be reinforced on the occasion of a solar eclipse where a 'ring of fire' is formed as the moon crosses the path of the sun, creating an eye–like shape as seen in figure 1 and 2. Three major eclipses occurred over the Pampa de Nazca beginning in 97 CE and coinciding with the beginning of the construction of the lines (Edgar, R. 2000). This has given rise to the theory that these spectacular artworks were signs or appreciation for the gods of the sky. When the Nazca lines were supposedly created between is debated and varies from 97 CE to 400 and 650 CE. The Nazca people constructed the lines by digging into the pampa to expose the lighter earth beneath and due to dry conditions and little erosion they have remained visible (Alford, A. F. 1998). They experienced a great deal of product differentiation ranging from new types of products, to better quality of products, and more expensive products. However, in 1998 this all had to change because of a 7% decrease in GDP over the next year. During this time consumers had to learn how to focus their spending on sub–brands and discounted offers to save money. I boarded the Amtrak the early morning of November 5th, 2016 from Davis, California to the Peytonia Slough Ecological Reserve (Peytonia Reserve) in Suisun, California. The trip to this brackish and saltwater reserve was to help me analyze the relationship between humans and wildlife in urban settings. Urban environments depend on the rehabilitation and protection of small natural areas like the Peytonia Reserve. At the Peytonia Reserve, both humans and native/non–native species live in cohabitation, which paints an accurate representation of reconciliation ecology. Humans use these natural areas, the Peytonia Reserve in this case, for recreational activities like hunting and fishing. This, in turn, benefits the wildlife that lives in the area because hunters and fishers want the environment to be well maintained in order to support their activities. I came up with the conclusion that even though humans have more to benefit from wildlife, wildlife also depends on humans to help protect and conserve their habitats.... Gauchos' social lives covered many interesting areas. These traditional acts decreased because of the new laws. Previously, gauchos would roam the pampa, continuously moving onward to unknown destinations. This freedom became restricted with the invention of the fence. The fence also impacted other areas of the gauchos' lives including economically. The fence forced thechange from a ranching to farming. The need for ranchers decreased, which put gauchos out of work. These fences also kept animals contained to specific pastures. Before this gauchos would kill roaming horses for fun, cattle for food and skins, and ostrich for feathers. These fences set territories that kept the gaucho from wandering freely. Another change that kept the gaucho from wandering freely involved vagrancy laws. The government targeted to the gaucho and aimed to get rid of them, or at least tame them. Gauchos now had to carry something similar to a travel permit. This again restricted their unique lifestyle. Because the government viewed the gauchos as good fighters, they enlisted many to serve in the military. This impacted their lives socially and economically.
