3. • Physical properties
Physical properties are the properties where the
appearance colour, state , hardness, softness, melting
point or boiling point of any substance is seen or felt.
•
• Chemical properties
Chemical property is a property of any substance seen
before or after a chemical reaction.

5. • The ability of a metal to be drawn into thin wires without
breaking is known as ductility.
• The non-metals cannot be drawn into wires.
6. • The property of a substance that describes its ability to
be bent or hammered into a thin sheet without breaking is
known as malleability
• E.g. Aluminium is very malleable and that is why we use
it to make foil to wrap food.
• The non-metals like coal, glass or sulphur cannot be bent
or made into sheets. They are brittle
7. • Metals are good conductors of electricity as they have
free flow electrons which carries electric current.
• Non-metal do not have free electrons.

8. • Metals produce ringing sound and are said to be
sonorous in nature
• E.g. bell in temple, falling of coin, falling of plates

10. • A metalloid is an element that exhibits some properties of
metals and some properties of non metals.
• E.g. Boron, silicon
• They are used as semiconductors.
