Introduction
With days passing, time has brought me to a
completely new situation. When I was study-ing
in high school, I used to visualise the pic-ture
of the world in which I am living at pre-sent.
It was just like a dream world for me at
that time. Things have changed and new
ones have arrived. Now deforestation has
become an abandoned practice and build-ers
have shifted to waste lands. Humans
have landed on Mars. Scientists have made
it possible to neutralize greenhouse effects.
Robots have taken over human labour. All
countries ruled then by communists and
monarchs have become democracies. Life
has become just like in the heaven and living
conditions are exceptionally good. In short,
things have turned opposite of what we
were anticipating in 2010’s.

My Career
“What is your occupation?” whenever any-one
asks me this question, I proudly reply that
I am a stakeholder of this golden economy
by being a dedicated Ophthalmologist. I
have faced a lot of challenges and have
successfully overcome them while climbing
up to this position. After completing grade 10
in India, I immigrated to Canada and joined
John Fraser High School for my further educa-tion.
Here, I passed my high school with flying
colors by scoring 97% in grade 12 academic
stream. Soon after I received a call letter
from the University of Toronto to pursue the
undergraduate course in biological sciences.
The summer before I entered the University I
went to a summer school to do a French
course. It now plays a facilitating role while
communicating with my patients speaking
French.

My Career contd...
I did my four year graduation from the Uni-versity
of Toronto in Life Sciences and Hu-manities
and got 3.97 on a 4.0 grade scale.
Subsequently, I took the MCAT and scored
9/10/10 and became eligible for the under-graduate
program in the Faculty of Medi-cine,
University of Toronto. After undergoing
a tough selection process, I was offered an
MD seat at the Mississauga campus. I re-ceived
a good scholarship. The time I spent
at the medical school was just awesome. In
the mean time, I used to work at McDon-ald's
as a part time worker to supplement
my living expenses. The course I did was a
PhD combined with MD and this fetches at-tention
of many hospitals towards me. An-other
aspect worthy to mention is that the
course even included one year of intern-ship
which helped me a lot in gaining prac-tical
clinical experience .
6. My Career contd...
I graduated from the medical school in 2025
and then headed towards the Residency
program as an Ophthalmologist. Due to my
excellent performance in those eight years
including volunteering in a medical mission
to west Africa to fight a new viral epidem-ic,
the University of Toronto selected me to
continue the next four years of residency
with a good fellowship. I got a great expo-sure
6
during my long tenure of twelve years
at U of T. I interacted with many renowned
professors and doctors, took part in many
research projects and played a crucial role
in them . Then, on the graduation day in
2029 I became Dr. Jyotiraditya Panda MD,
PhD Ophthalmology. It was the greatest
and most auspicious moment in my life.
Within a month after my graduation, I got
myself engaged in serving the society by
getting employed in Toronto Institute of
Ophthalmology.
7. My Career contd...
I want to do further research in the area of
Oculoplastics to improve upon the existing
model of artificial eye. But before that I
want to gain rich experience by working in
this field. But this is not the ultimate aim in my
life. I have many more plans which I want to
accomplish. After earning handsome
amount of money, I will shift to any underde-veloped
7
country, like those in Africa or Asia,
and help the people out there in medical
issues, especially I will help blind people to
see the beautiful world. So, that’s my career
goal, my livelihood and my passion.
8. My Family
I have been studying for last thirty years, so I
didn’t get any time to think about raising my
own family nor I am thinking about this as I
have many people whose responsibility is on
me, I have to help them first of all. But still a
family is a necessity to keep up with the kind
of stressful job which is being done by me
and being a doctor I can’t neglect this fact.
Thus, I have a pet which makes up my fami-ly.
He is a brown German Shepherd- “Leo”.

9. My Family contd...
We both have an outing every weekend
and enjoy that a lot. Usually, after having
breakfast, we pack up our lunches and walk
into a nearby forest trail. There we get off
the trail and move into the dense forest
where after having the lunch we move
around and sometimes, if we have a good
fortune, get a sight of a Fox or even of a
Snake. Then after a long and tiring walk, we
return home and fall down in our beds. I
have had many pleasant time with Leo and
we together make my sweet family .

10. Where do I live?
I live in a residential community near Down-town,
10
Toronto which has been developed
on a wasteland. Though the place was a
wasteland, it has been in the list of the best
residential community in Toronto since its
construction. It is a 100% green project. I
have bought a Townhouse with 2-
bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, a Kitchen and a
Living room. I have good neighbours and
they are always ready to take initiatives.
There is no sign of pollution or traffic jam in
this locality. Additionally, there is a small
patch of forest with a trail across it. It’s the
best place to live in the
heart of Toronto.
11. Community Involvement
Being a doctor, I am involved in my commu-nity
in each and every aspect of my life. Fur-ther,
my life is completely dedicated to the
11
community around me but apart from my
professional life, I am very much involved in
my community. During any long term vaca-tion,
I contribute my precious time by volun-teering
in an old age home. Even in some
weekdays I take time off from my job and
volunteer in a school by making kids aware
of some new ways to keep themselves
away from disease and be healthy. Another
way by which I keep myself involved in the
community is by organizing small BBQ par-ties
by calling my neighbours and some
friends. So basically, you can call me an ac-tive
man in my community and is filled with
desires to help the community whenever it’s
in need of me.
12. My Hobbies
I have a lot of hobbies and some of them
are rare to find in a doctor. First of all, I am
simply mad for tennis and this has even
made me a good tennis player. I love ency-clopaedias
12
since I was in grade 4 and
whenever I am free, I am hooked to it.
Sometimes, I take up a pen and a sheet of
paper and start writing any story or poem
which would strike my mind. These are some
of the hobbies which I usually do but there
are many others occasionally pursued.
With this I end the story about my life in 2030
and hope you would like it very much.
