3. Objectives
What are the objectives for this project?
Objectives are to make Spirovsky popular across the UK first, and to sell over 1000 copies.
Who do you want to target?
I want to target males and females around the ages of 16-25 because these are the most likely age group to like and follow this
person and enjoy and buy their music.
How many records do you want to sell?
At least 3000 hopefully more. This is a low number because the band isn’t popular yet then putting a high number and them not to
be sold is a massive let down with the band and organisation, however if the number is low and actually they become increasingly
popular and thousands more are sold it is a brilliant success.
What would make this a successful exercise?
What would be successful for Spirovsky is selling the target amount of records, this would be the first thing that
we want to do. In the future Spirovsky could potentially get onto the front cover of a rock magazine a the new
best rock band, such as Kerrang as I have seen this in the past. This would be doable if there fans increased by
a lot, because then Kerrang would realise that they were well known and perform the interview.
Social media success would be to gain 500 followers/fans on facebook, twitter and also instagram, this could be
done through YouTube first because people would need to known their music, and also competitions because
this is a main way of getting their fans to like them.
Another hit success would be to have over 400 views on their first YouTube video that they have posted. There
are many things that would make Spirovsky successful, another one including being interviewed on Kerrang
music channel, this would help them gain a lot more of their target followers and make them more well known.
These are all potential successful things that could be realistic for Spirovsky because they do not have a set
timescale to reach this so it could be well prepared and planned for them to become popular. Especially through
social networking points of view. I believe this is the main way of getting their band out their by posting pictures
and photographs and also creating their own band website which links will be on the social media. 3
4. Audience
Who is the audience for this band?
The target audience for this band is male and female who like
upbeat load music and enjoy going to gigs. The secondary
audience would be people above this target age (16-25) who
have always enjoyed rock music and enjoyed going to gigs
when they were younger but still enjoy the music.
What age are they?
Aged between 16-25
What do they look like?
Dressed usually in dark clothes, not like other rock bands, they would
not be dressed like a punk with chokers they would dress quite simple
and nice looking rather then intimidating like other rock bands, who don’t
look as friendly. For example the killers dress in t shirts and denim
jackets and jeans. This is what Spirovsky and the fans would look like.
Who else do they like?
The audience also likes all time low, you me at six, Biffy Clyro
and the killers. Bands that are similar to these ones .

5. Media
What media will you use and why? Be specific about
the platforms you will use.
What magazines might they get in to?
Spirovsky could potentially be on the following magazines Q,
Kerrang, Classic rock, uk rock and roll. All of which contain
information and include bands that revolve around rock music.
What TV channels would they be on?
Kerrang, MTV rocks, scuzz, maybe the box if the music goes into
charts or MTV charts. These are music channels that usually play a
similar type of music and artists/bands including fall out boy, you me
at six, and the killers.
Which radio stations would play their music?
Planet rock, team rock radio, Xfm – all containing similar music
Who would they give interviews to?
Kerrang on the television are likely to give them band interviews because it is a
rock channel and theyr3e interested in new rock bands. Radio one are also
likely to do this, especially if they become popular because they will be
interested in meeting the new popular band.

6. Media
Which forms of social media would you use and how would
you use social media?
I would use facebook because this is something my primary and secondary
audience could potentially use, and most likely will. I will set up a band page
that will include YouTube links to their new songs, band information,
photographs and upcoming events/gigs. I will also use this page for
competitions to win signed albums/T-Shirts etc.
YouTube is another account on social media that is a definite hit for bands
these days, no one likes to wait around for an album to come out to hear it
first. Bands now post their songs and videos onto YouTube for people to view
all the time at whatever time they want to. This would be the biggest hit and
would also show how many views they’re getting. YouTube is useful to
include in the other social media sites as well because they can post their
video links onto facebook, twitter and instagram.

7. Media
Which forms of social media would you use and how
would you use social media?
I will also use twitter to make a band account and would create a
♯ for their name for example ♯Spirovsky and also use it for
competitions such as ♯signedspirovskytshirt which would go
hopefully worldwide for other users to see. The hashtag is simple
but can go a long way for all social media platforms because when
it is seen, especially through competitions it allows a band to gain
more followers and fans.
Twitter is also useful for fans to communicate with the band and
ask questions (♯askspirovsky) which seems really popular with
bands on twitter over the last few years. Twitter will be a good
social media platform to use because my primary audience are
likely to use this because it is very popular for people around the
ages of 16-21 to use, especially for following bands and
celebrities. Another thing that is popular with this is instagram,
because people love to see what photographs bands post of each
other and also their gigs. I would create an account on instagram
for the band to use to post pictures of all of them included on it.
And also for competitions as well. They could post a photograph of
one of them holding a signed t-shirt and caption it with the details
of how to win.
7
8. Merchandise
What merchandise would you use to promote this band?
I would use T-shirts to promote the band at cheap prices. I would have 2 different kinds, one simple one
with just the name on. for example: something simple like this T-shirt can actually be really popular,
because the band itself wears simple baggy T-shirts and jeans and so do the fans. Another T-shirt will be
made and it will include just a photograph of the band on a black, grey or white T-shirt. The plain simple
ones would be around 10 pounds and the one with the photograph 15. competitions would include winning
a free signed one, which would be high in value.
Guitar picks/drum sticks are also very popular for rock bands because fans are usually interested
In guitars, bass or drums because that’s what instruments are included in a rock band
most of the time. I would have the bands name on the drum sticks at the bottom and
On the guitar pick I would have the name on the front and a logo on the back, they would
be in black or white.
Posters are also a cheap popular alternative than buying more expensive things like t-shirts and hoodies.
The poster would be a large coloured photograph of the band that would be slightly low in contrast and
taken outdoors. And the second poster would be in black and white of them playing their instruments on
stage, a more casual naturalistic photograph. And have the name of the band printed of in the logo font.
Posters will be 4pounds.

9. Manage the message
What is the message you want to communicate about this band?
I want to introduce a band that is new and exciting, rock bands these days are not extremely
popular to be in the top 40, this is what I want to make for this band. To be as big as the
arctic monkeys. I want their music to be classic rock but to be liked by many other people
outside the target audience that aren't interested in rock music as their main interest. For
example the arctic monkeys are a rock band however they are liked by all kinds of people
simply because their music suits everyone. The band are young and ready to become
popular and well known and be around for a long time.
What is the main selling point of the band and the album?
That they’re a brand new band looking for a lot of success and fans. Music in the era is
usually all about pop/chart music, but they want to bring rock music back into the charts and
for it to become increasingly popular again, gaining all types of different fans.
10. Hyperbole
Every marketing and PR campaign uses hyperbole. Its role is to make
things seem better than they really are by using exaggeration and emotive
words or imagery.
What are the words you will use? What words will help you sell and will
appeal to your audience?
Words I could use include outstanding, superior successful, superb are words I could associate with the
upcoming album. Over exaggerating words can make an audience instantly more interested in what’s new
to come, because if critics and people that have already heard the album are saying this then they will
believe them, because the media are telling them.
10
11. Events
What events would you put on as part of the promotion of this band and
album?
Starting of small whilst the band are just getting well known through social media and YouTube they could
be supporting acts of other rock bands that aren’t massively famous, with a similar target audience. This
way the band will increase their number of fans and followers by hundreds. They could also perform small
gigs themselves with small ticket prices to raise their awareness. Another thing that is popular with starting
bands is playing at festivals on the smaller stages like Leeds fest, where they play a couple of sets. This
would be a big achievement because thousands and thousands of people go to these festivals so there
fans would grow a lot if this happened. This could be achievable If worked with hard enough. From then on
larger gigs would be the way forward.
When the band become well known from gigs and music starts to become popular, the aim is to get the
band into the charts, because this is the career goal, to try and make rock music go back into the charts
and be popular again so it is not just pop music. Especially from this band, which will make them stand out
even more because they’re different and unique.
11
12. Internal motivation
What is the motivation behind this project?
The obvious motivation behind the project is the money that they will make and gain for me and
themselves. What I have talked about previously it the band been different, the music been popular by all
sorts of people and fans, and it making the top of the charts to knock of pop music and make rock popular
again.
It’s important for me because it gives me a chance to look successful in getting a band well known and in
the charts, getting their music loved by all generations. This will make me look good and potentially will
give me an opportunity to do it for more bands.
It is important for the band because it will gain them a lot of money and fame.
12
13. Motivation of media
Why would the media be interested in this project?
Which parts of the media or media products (be specific) would be
interested in the project?
Social media sites will specifically be interested in the project because they follow bands like this and write
blogs about them, which would be interesting to see. Blog sites write about bands, their upcoming albums
and gigs that they will be performing.
