2. TRAILER
• I have gotten my audience feedback by creating a questionnaire on
Surveymonkey. The respondents watched a draft of our soap opera trailer
and answered questions based on it, e.g. what they do/don’t like about it.
This enabled us to find out what is good and bad about our trailer, and what
works and what does not. From this we were able to make any changes
where appropriate.
• When our trailer was finished we held a focus group. We showed the group
our finished trailer and asked them questions from our Surveymonkey
questionnaire. The audience liked our storyline about an affair and thought it
came across well, especially in the shot where Stacey is ripping out the
flowers and the use of a phone conversation which suggests the distance
between Stacey and Liam. The audience have said that they would watch the
soap opera if it was on TV because of the use of the dialogue and the
dramatic scenes which make them want to see more with providing them
with enough information but not giving too much away. The group
consisted of teenagers between 17-18 years old which means that we have
chosen our target audience correctly.
3. MAGAZINE
• I have gained audience feedback for my magazine and poster by
showing people a photo of them both and asking them questions
such as what they do/don’t like about it, and if it would attract them
to watch the soap opera. The respondents said that the secondary
stories from different soaps make the magazine look realistic. They’ve
said that they like the font of the title and the word ‘revealed’ as it is
big and bold which caught their eye. The colour coordination also
works as it puts the magazine together. The respondents said that the
tagline also caught their attention as it is emphasising on the fact that
this magazine provides them with all the information they want.
However, the audience commented on the background and said that
it could have been more colourful/brighter to make the cover stand
out more.
4. POSTER
• When gaining audience feedback, I have done the same thing I
done with my magazine. I showed people a photo of my poster
and asked them what they like/don’t like about it and what works
and what doesn’t. When looking at my poster, the respondents
said that they liked the brush stroke effect on the words ‘lies’ and
‘silence’ as it added more emphasis on them and made them
stand out. They also commented on the fact that the female
character is colour coordinated to the colour of the text which
they thought made the magazine look good. The grey
background works on the poster as it makes the female character
stand out but at the same time blurs the male character which
gives them the idea of him less powerful. Overall, the respondents
said that the poster would intrigue them to watch our soap Park
Grove.
