1. Magazine Proposal Form
Title and Theme
What will the magazine be called,
and what kind of magazine would be?
The magazine will be called
“Compute”, and it will be a technology
magazine that mainly focuses on
computers.
Core Audience
Who are the main audience for the
magazine? Note age, gender, interests,
spending power.
The main audience for this magazine
would be people who have an
established interest in technology and/
or computing however are not very
skilled yet. The typical age for this
magazine would be 16 and over, typically
male (although females can also read
the magazine). Spending power is
dependent on age, 20+ year olds are
more likely to keep a budget than, let’s
say, a 16 year old still in education.
Secondary Audience The secondary audience for the
magazine would be who are skilled in
technology/computing subjects. They
would usually have an interest in
technology and computing. They are
typically male, are usually 18 and over
and usually have more spending power
and financial resources to buy the
components advertised or mentioned.
Cover Appeal
How will the front cover, through its
content and style, appeal to the
audiences?
Based on an online questionnaire I
conducted, I saw that people liked the
colour blue for a computing magazine.
This shows that I needed to use the
colour blue for my magazine. The
magazine will advertise its feature
articles as well as a promotion from a
sponsor. There will be a tagline,
promoting the magazine as “the UK’s go-
to magazine for computer enthusiasts”.

2. Feature Article Appeal
How will the main article, through its
content and style, appeal to the
audiences?
The feature article will be related to
computing. For the first issue, I will detail
the components that are required to
build a computer, and whether or not
you should build one. People who read a
computing magazine are most likely
curious about a self-built computer. The
style will use one of the blue colours of
the front cover, to suit the audience’s
needs and to keep the in-house style of
the magazine.
Advertising
How will the advertising in the magazine
appeal to the audiences?
To suit the magazine’s core audience,
advertisements for computer
accessories and mid-range components
will be shown. To suit the secondary
audience. advertisements for high-range
components will be shown, as well.
