The Library is a Service Organization <ul><li>Its purpose is to: </li></ul><ul><li>Serve students, faculty, administration, staff and alumni </li></ul><ul><li>Ask these constituents what services and support they need </li></ul><ul><li>Provide excellent customer service </li></ul><ul><li>Deliver information access in the way our constituents prefer </li></ul><ul><li>Teach information literacy </li></ul>

The Small Academic Library will be… <ul><li>Expanding virtual learning environments, creating virtual resources </li></ul><ul><li>Creating a warm, welcoming physical environment that attracts potential students, supports current students in learning and discovery, and makes alumni feel at home in the living room of the college </li></ul><ul><li>Continuously asking students, faculty and administrators to evaluate its services. </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Small Academic Library will be… <ul><li>Increasing its presence on social networks </li></ul><ul><li>Comfortable with being beta </li></ul><ul><li>Increasingly collaborative, for example learning commons and digital repositories </li></ul>
  6. 6. Learning Commons <ul><li>Bring together resources for students and contain college costs </li></ul><ul><li>Provide an environment that encourages group study and prepares students for workplaces that are global and cooperative in nature. </li></ul>
