The Story Makers
The Story Makers
Family members can be a person's greatest blessing or his worst nightmare. There are the relatives
that can help one accomplish their wildest dreams, and there are those who succeed in spite of their
relatives. These two types of relatives are very influential and tend to focus on the important and
stressful topics going on in life. Then there are the relatives that inspire the crazy, wonderful
memories that are told to grandkids generations later. These relatives are extreme in everything they
do and can be classified into three specific types: the Drill Sergeant, the Traditionalist and the Cheek
Pincher. The Drill Sergeant plans everything to his or her idea of perfection. In most cases, The Drill
Sergeant in the family is a woman. She often suffers from OCBD (obsessive children's behavior
disorder) and has a supercilious attitude towards everyone in her family. She pays painstaking
attention to the manners of everyone around her and does not shy from pointing out everyone's
mistakes. When the Sergeant cooks dinner for the family, the meal is often dull and healthy. She
adds no seasoning to her dishes because that would ruin the authenticity of the ingredients. At the
dinner table, she stares down each family member to make sure that they not only chew and swallow
every single bite, instead of spitting out the meal into their napkins like they desperately want to do;
she also expects they will pretend to enjoy the meal with smiles on their faces. Even

Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance
In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the patterns of social
acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves into groups. An example of such
acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who completely ignore groups around them by staring
at their phone; compared to those who strike conversations with people they haven't met before.
Addressed, also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and how
this resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots – with the overall time of note
taking to roughly 1–hour. The first area was the quad. This area was where the majority of notes
were written. I selected this area in particular because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to
get a good viewing angle of the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began
taking notes. The other part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I specifically
took notes of group patterns during lecture, and regularly would ask questions focused on such.
Finding a correlation between the different questions asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew
my conclusions. I am always fascinated between how people socialize. This topic is close to my
heart because I was an extreme introvert before my final years of high–school. Not being able to just
start a simple conversation because of social anxiety is one of the worst feelings anybody can have,
and it takes a lot

Literature Written For Young Adults Tends To Leave Behind
Literature written for young adults tends to leave behind the wide–eyed idealism of novels intended
for children and depicts a world in which adolescents must discover and negotiate their place within
various powerful social institutions. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton continues these major themes of
the genre through its depiction of fourteen–year–old Ponyboy Curtis and his attempts to understand
his own social position.. The boys all belong to the same general age group, but it is significant that
Ponyboy and his friend Johnny are the youngest members of the gang. There is a contrast between
the attitudes of the older members of the gang and the younger members that clearly highlights the
effect of disillusionment on youth as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is likely that Johnny 's comparative youth plays a major role in why the gang feels so strongly that
they need to defend him. While every member of the gang looks out for one another, the incident
where Johnny was beaten within an inch of his life had profound impact on them because of the way
the gang perceives him. Johnny and Ponyboy, as the youngest members of the group, are defended
by the older members of the gang without hesitation. Both of the young men are also considered to
be kinder than the rest of them, as though they are still perceived to have a sense of optimism and
hope in them. The juxtaposition of Ponyboy 's relationship with his elder brother Darry and the
affection that Dally has for Johnny demonstrates that Johnny is quite literally a younger brother
figure. This is especially important, because it simultaneously shows the collapse of childhood
innocence, and the desperation to maintain it against a bleak outlook on life. It is ultimately Johnny
's beating by the Socs, the powerful elite of their town, that results in Ponyboy 's imminent struggle
with understanding the social forces at work. It is Johnny 's beating that begins the process of
disillusionment for Ponyboy, especially as he begins to relay the tale of how they found Johnny that
night to Cherry Valance, and exacerbates Ponyboy 's growing dissatisfaction with the established
status quo between the Socs and

Technology And Technology Essay
Technology has become a huge topic in today's century, it has brought both negative and positive
questions in mind. The biggest question that people ask themselves is whether all those new gadgets
they possess benefit or damage their families at the end. In other words, technology has become a
part in the lives of families in the past century or so, it has made it easier to find information by
using their fingertips and keep in close contact with relatives living in other countries. New
technology was created for entertainment and usefulness in people's lives, such as televisions,
tablets, phones, and so on. This essay will discuss both the positive and negative impacts technology
has created, as well as to how helpful it is within families. One way that technology has become
helpful in families, is that it has given a variety of ways to help keep track of one's health. There
have been multiple occasions that technology has been useful in families by helping them find a way
to improve their health. Fassnacht, Ali, Silva, Goncalves, and Machado (2015) have recently done a
study where they analyzed that text messaging can help maintain a child physically active to
improve their health. Families have seen technology as useful in helping their children maintain a
healthy and balanced life using messages. In which, children join a program and are asked questions
through messages about their activities done throughout the day or to send reminders about the types
of foods they

Summary : Member Involvement Tends To Help Retention?
So What's Next? So what's next?? Everyone has done an outstanding job of bringing 20 new
members into our squadron this year. But we have fallen short on member retention. We all must
realize that it is just as important to have current members renew their membership as it is to have
new members join. I understand things happen; health issues; financial issues; family issues. These
are all unavoidable circumstances. But what about those that don't renew for other reasons? As your
newly appointed commander, I would like to focus on three points pertaining to our next step:
member retention. First, how member involvement tends to help retention. Second, why the
personal benefits of membership is invaluable. And third, why appropriate ... Show more content on

How about "personalized, in–depth, hands on training both on–the–water and in the classroom;
teaching and mentoring opportunities; on–the–water–fun: cruises, day–trips, raft–ups; community
involvement; boat insurance discounts; travel discounts; shopping discounts" (United States Power
Squadron, n.d.) just to name a few. Of course the most valuable resource the squadron has is sitting
in this room right now. You, the members, and all of your knowledge and experience is priceless.
Become a salesperson; sell why you enjoy being a member. "We need to stress benefits. Benefits
should be emphasized in different ways and different times throughout the first year" (Haughey,
2015). So, we've covered the importance of member involvement and emphasizing the value of their
membership through education and experiences. Any idea on what the third point might be?
Appropriate Communication Appropriate communication is essential. Whether we are
communicating face–to–face, via social media, on the phone, or through snail mail, we always have
to think about what we are saying, how we are saying it, and how the other person is going to
perceive the information. It's not going to help our retention numbers if we don't communicate
properly and positively. Member retention starts

The Social Media Platform Of Tumblr
Albert Costill, writer for Search Engine Journal, reports that 66% of Tumblr users are under 35 years
old, while 39% are under the age of 25. Costill also noted that 13% of 18–to–29 year olds have used
the social media platform (Costill). These statistics prove how common and thus influential Tumblr
is amongst young adults. Tumblr is a social media website and application that allows users to make
their own personal blog with posts consisting of text, pictures, and videos. One of the main reasons
that Tumblr is so prominent amongst young people is because of the sense of anonymity that the
website can provide. Whereas normal social media platform's ask the user to identify themselves by
name, on Tumblr there is a choice; a user gets to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By setting the tone for what is popular, young people's actions are directly influenced by what they
see on Tumblr. Since whatever people on this form of social media do is instantly seen as
acceptable, young adults tend to try and conform to these trends. Typically the trends seen on
Tumblr all have a rebellious and unruly connotation, thus mostly having a negative impact on
society. Things such as drugs, alcohol, sex, and nudity are all heavily promoted on Tumblr. In
addition to these, mental illness is largely advocated for on Tumblr. Mental illnesses tend to be
glamorized online causing those who have these conditions to oftentimes become even worse. While
Tumblr is a great way to meet people who are similar to you, it can also be detrimental in the fact
that people can bond over topics such as mental illness. Surely there are many blogs offering help to
those who are suffering with these types of conditions, but the ones that gain the most attention are
the blogs that make these types of problems worse. Caitlin Dewey, reporter for The Washington
Post, says that self–harm blogs "can be disturbing: sites dedicated solely to cutting, suicide, or
eating disorders, replete with stomach–turning details, high–contrast photos, and song lyrics from
depressive teen bands" (Dewey, Self–harm). Imani McGarrell, Journalism Sophomore

Children Tend To Idolize Older People In Their Minds. Whether
Children tend to idolize older people in their minds. Whether it is a sibling, teacher or parent, they
cannot wait to be older and grow up "just like that person." In the child's mind, that person is perfect
and a hero. Okonkwo, from the book "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe, was a great warrior
and powerful man. He was a father and husband to many and the great leader in the community. On
the other hand, Oedipus, from the play "Oedipus is King" by Sophocles, was the king of his own
land. He also had a loving wife and two children who admired him. In literature, both men were
great and were written about because people saw them as heroes. The definition of a hero is a man
who is admired by their people, brave, a warrior and courageous, ... Show more content on

He was not courageous either. He kills people because he is scared not as an act of courage. At the
end of the book, he kills himself which is not a courageous act. The people were asked by the
missionaries why they left Okonkwo's body hanging and a man responded, "It's an abomination for
a man to take his own life... a man who commits it will not be buried by his clansmen. His body is
evil, and only strangers may touch it" (207). A king who is adored by all his people is hard to find,
but Oedipus was loved by everyone. He was kind and wise. He treated his family with care and truly
loved his children and wife. Within the book, the chorus would mention how he was loved by
everyone and he cared enough for even the poor. Oedipus even told the people that he loved the
country more than they did and that the weight of their problems were greater on him because he felt
personally responsible for everyone's problems and would do anything to help. He was thought to be
foreigner to the land and yet when he saved it from the sphinx it became his home land. The people
of the land admired him because he saved them because he answered the riddle and saved the whole
town from destruction. When the people were upset that there was a curse on the land because the
old king was murdered, Oedipus was willing to go to great lengths to ensure the safety and peace of
the people by

Workplace Reflection Essay
There are racial things happening all around us every day but many times people can block it out or
don't notice it because it seems normal. This week I decided to watch and see what racial or gender
type things happen at my place of work. I work at a restaurant in downtown Green Bay, it a bit more
expensive than most places. I'm going to cover the way customers are served and how they are
treated and how things are a little more advanced in the kitchen staff. First of all, I am a host at the
restaurant so I watch closely to make sure all tables are getting service, when a table is first sat the
table is greeted by the server in a happy tone Usually if the customers reply back in a happy way and
friendly way that table will get more attention from the server throughout their time at the
restaurant. When the customer tends to treat the server more as a servant and not as a real person the
servers tend to not check up on the table as much because the table doesn't seem friendly. Another
thing I noticed is that when a table sits and they are dressed nicely and servers my pay more
attention to them compared to a table that is in sweatpants. Servers pay more attention to the tables
that are dressed nicely because they expect them to tip better, I have seen this first hand with two
tables sat at about the same time and the family dressed nicer tip decently and the table in sweats
tipped 74 cents on a $35 bill. Now I know that I don't know the financial backgrounds of these two
families but this is a more expensive restaurant so customers tend to spend more than going to a Red
Robins. Another factor in how you are served at a restaurant is younger couples and elderly couples
are less likely to tip well. Younger couples tend to be seen as not having significant funds to pay and
tip well. Elderly couples are seen as small tippers because they are used to saving and a lower
tipping percentage. For a long time the tipping percentage was 15% percent but over the last few
years, it has been raised to about 18% to 20%. Next, I want to talk about how usually when you
think of a restaurants kitchen staff you may think low–income men maybe even Mexican. At the
restaurant, I work at we have a wide variety of people that work

How Does Information Tend To Flow?
Working at Lowe's the company have plenty of meetings. How does information tend to flow? The
Information usually flow as a two way communication. Two–way asymmetric communication
occurs when a sender asks for feedback, such as might happen when a speaker asks the audience if
they have heard the information or understood what was being said. Based on the answer, the
speaker may adjust the volume on the microphone or repeat a particular segment, but the overall
goal of the communication and its messages does not change. Do you think that the people sending
messages do so effectively? I think the people in my organization do send the messages effective. I
think this is because they are great listeners. I think they understand the steps to great
communication and the except the listeners feed back both good and bad. ... Show more content on

It's great to ask questions when you are not sure or don't completely understand. To become an
effective communicator, you must master both verbal and non–verbal forms of communication.
Verbal communication delivers messages through words and language, such as speaking, and the
reader or listener can interpret the words as they appear or are presented. With most verbal
messages, the meaning is stated and if the communicator has done so correctly, the meaning is easy
to capture. I believe that communication improves through experience and over time. Technology
now does all the communicating now a days I

Americans Tend To Celebrate Other People's Success
In the passage, Margaret Mead states that Americans tend to celebrate other people's success far than
those people who are close at hand as a threat. As I have read the author's analysis I noticed that
there is some positive and negative statement. There are some circumstances were Americans feel
jealous, insecure, competitive and anxious around people's success. Most of the time, when someone
close to you like a family member , a close friend and a co–worker become successful we tend to
feel jealous and we start seeing them as a threat. On the other hand, people who's far away from us
or have a different career as we are. We congratulate them, praise them, support them with all our
heart without bitterness and we truly celebrate their success. It is a confusing thing but real.

Homework Persuasive Essay
Are you happy with your job right now? Do you wish that you did something beneficial for yourself
in school? Do you even use any of the stuff you learned in school in your today life? I very much
believe that the homework given for school is honestly inconsiderate, time consuming, and it's
unethical. I stand by these factors for many reasons. As much as I see why it's given, I do indeed
believe that the reasons pushed against it are more important than the latter. Regardless, here is my
reasoning of why homework is inconsiderate to students, time consuming for them, and unethical to
their lives. I wish that parents that make their kids do homework would take a second and look at
what they're doing. And if that doesn't seem beneficial to them, they are being inconsiderate as those
kids, young or older, are being piled with work that they will never use in the rest of their lives.
Especially if that parent knows if their family is struggling and still sending a child to school to do
things that will not benefit their family. Perhaps that family is struggling with money, food,
relationships, even lack of a shelter for them to stay. Most parents get this thing in their head that if
their child doesn't do all this work, then they will fail in life, but that child is being filled with
knowledge that makes them confused on what they actually want to do. Then they demand that you
not only do the pile of useless work that holds that kid back from doing something more productive

Sport Specialization In Sport
Sport Specialization At a young age, children tend to start participating in sports as a way to get
active and learn both athletic as well as life skills. Their parents might start them off with one sport
and then before you know it the child is juggling a handful of sports to see, which ones they like. As
these young athletes get older, they tend to get stuck at a crossroad. The athletes are posed with the
same decision: to specialize in one sport or to continue playing all the sports they love. However, do
athletes that specialize in one sport perform better as they grow up compared to those that continue
playing multiple sports? It is important to resolve this question because there has been a rise in early
youth sport specialization over the last few years due to pressure put on athletes by their coaches
and parents, rather than a logical rationale (Myer 2015).
Often, as young athletes reach middle school and high school levels, coaches and parents tend to see
the potential these athletes have. As a result, the athletes are persuaded and or forced into quitting
certain sports to specialize in their dominant sport with hopes of achieving more success. However,
these children miss out in experiences they might have had if they didn't quit those sports. If they
choose not to quit, they are usually treated differently by their coaches. Coaches will talk to them in
a hasty manner compared to other kids or even discipline them harder, solely because the athlete
didn't do

Social Media And Its Impact On Society
In 2008 Joel Garreau conducted interviews and wrote a piece titled "Friends Indeed" for the
Washington Post. Garreau brings up possible dangers, minor inconveniences, and what truly defines
a friend in the new media world we live in. I felt Garreau came across as jaded by most of the
interviews he conducted. He did not seem to speak with a wide array of people that gave positive
impacts social media can have, but rather focused on the negatives of the subject. Garreau did bring
up valid points, however, from personal safety to the aspect of different people in your life seeing
your different personalities. For instance your Grandma that you go to church with on Sunday 's is
now seeing the pictures of you partying with your friends on Saturday night. Specifically in "Friends
Indeed" Garreau covers views on social media and the impacts it has on relationships, representing
all different walks of life from a college student transitioning into the work force to a cattle rancher
from Wyoming. Garreau states, "Networked people who haven 't seen each other in forever already
know about the new boyfriend, and what happened to the old one–in very great detail" (122). In
making this comment, Garreau states that catching up with old friends or family has drastically
changed and seems to imply a real world disconnect in our relationships. However I come from a
large spread out family and it adds to the experience of seeing them when I do know what has been
going on in their lives.

Implicit Personality Traits Tend To Co-Occur In People
Implicit personality theory is a concept used to explain a person's the notions regarding which
personality traits tend to co–occur in people. Implicit theories of personality guide people, as social
perceivers, to make interpretations of others, (Dunning, 2007). For example, if a perceiver sees a
man in a smart suit and presumed that dressing well is linked with success, then it is likely that the
perceiver infer that the other person is successful. A person who is understands the concept of
implicit personality theory, can be used to direct the views and beliefs of others in the service of
personal or social objectives; this is known as impression management (IM) or self–representation.
In other words, people can employ specific behavioral strategies to manipulate the impressions that
their spectators form, (Dunn & Forrin, 2007; Cole, & Rozell, 2011). Impression management
behaviors occur every day in any given status. There are several strategies people use to enhance
IM: assertive strategies, and defensive strategies. Assertive strategies take into account the use of

marking their property. Families assume that gangsters live in that specific neighborhood.
Each time they pass in that area they see Latino men wearing white sleeveless shirts with baggy blue

The English Language
It is in the earliest parts of life that we begin to categorize the world around us. To a child, a being
that sprouts from the earth to reach toward the sun is considered a tree; a large mass of liquid that
changes its colors to match the sky and smells of salt is the ocean. We apply simple terms to
everything, so that we may easily communicate our thoughts to our peers. As I have grown older, it
has become a habit to look back on life and in doing so, I have noticed that the users of the English
language attempt great lengths to apply a word to remarkably complex of subjects. They are not,
however, able to perform the same task with themselves. We as people tend to gravitate toward
others with similar characteristics, whether it be a face or place; it can be said of both the older
generation and its younger counterpart. As the eldest child of my family, I was expected to reach a
high standard throughout life. And with no other options, that is what I did. They'd brag about how
brilliant I was; how I'd read and write religiously; how I was such a good girl and far more mature
than others my age. I devoured my parents' praise like it was my only source of sustenance. Soon,
my world revolved around the satisfaction that came with their pride in me. So when I was a child
trying to find my place in the world, it was quite natural for me to fall into the welcoming arms of
those who shared my characteristics. The same can be said of all elementary–aged children. For
several, it

Lord Of The Flies Piggy Character Analysis
Piggy is one of the main characters in Lord of the Flies. He is a timid, lazy boy, mainly recognized
by his asthma, glasses and fat body. I will look at the way Golding uses Piggy to explore different
concepts, including civilization, isolation and social order.
Piggy is probably the most civilized character in the book; even as the others begin to lose their
morality, he sustains a sense of community and basic ethic. In the first chapter, he suggests using the
conch to call other victims of the plane crash. This was a crucial part of the boys coming together
and finding each other on the island and maintains basis for the actual plot of the book. Also, Piggy
repeatedly compares the boys to children, for example, "like a pack of kids". This simile highlights
the effect of irony because they are, of course, kids, but it shows that Piggy does not regard himself
as a child. He believes that the other boys act immature and has decidedly set himself apart from
their behaviour. As well as this, Piggy is always found holding the conch; "he caressed the conch
respectfully". He relies on it to uphold a community–wide sense of civilization, and comfort himself
in the way that he can revert back to the rules on holding the conch while speaking when he is being
interrupted. For instance, on page 42, Piggy says, "I got the conch. You let me speak!". This is very
important because it demonstrates the symbolism of the conch as an object of society, and how
much he considers its moral and societal value.
As well as this, Piggy is a pariah in the book. The boys dislike him a lot and hold very little respect
for him – this is said quite bluntly in Chapter 5, "Piggy was an outsider". Despite his intelligence
often being of use to them, they tend to disregard his contributions to the group. One example of this
is when Ralph "pushed Piggy on one side" when he was trying to speak. This can be seen as both a
literal and metaphorical representation of how Piggy is treated. What is meant by the quote is that
Ralph physically pushed him aside, however it can be interpreted that Ralph and the boys not only
shove Piggy around physically, but they also bully him verbally and overlook his advice and
opinions. He has a tremendous lack of

Disadvantages And Differences Of The Midsummer Night Vs....
Learning, of all entities in the human history, is the backbone and cradle of all headway and

you like doing or what others have done notably in the past. Learning is so crucial and extraordinary
that we couldn't have sent the first man to the moon, or neither can Shakespeare put Macbeth or
Midsummer Night's Dream down in a very unprecedented writing. That is all because of substantial
and extensive fondness for learning. Learning, on the other page of the book, varies and deviates

The Effects Of Consumerism
"Consumerism comes from the verb consume, which is rooted in the Latin word consumere,
meaning to use up or to waste. The noun consumerism also refers to a movement that promotes the
interests of consumers – that is, people who purchase goods, use them, and then buy more –
especially the protection of these consumers from things like fraud or price gouging"
("Consumerism"). Consumerism has changed over the thousands of years that people have been
living. Some people believe that consumerism is great where it helps stimulate the economy, but
other people see it as an evil force because it hurts people and makes them care less about their self

People Tend To Act Insane In Shakespeare's Hamlet
Many people may notice that they tend to act differently around different people. In one case, one
may act outlandish and carefree when he is with his friends, but on the other hand, he might act in a
more reserved and quiet manner when around people he is less acquainted with. This behavior could
lead to people wondering whether or not this person is being genuine with them or not. Moreover,
these actions are quite common in society, literature, and many psychological and scientific studies.
Overall, people should act as genuine as they can in order to prevent false assumptions about the
person. According to Christopher Heffner from AllPhsych, we tend to act differently around certain
people is to maintain our social image or improve how others see us. Heffner describes that when a
person is alone, he tends to be more relaxed and focused compared to when he is around other
people. Also, by changing our behavior when dealing with group decisions, we tend to try to avoid

around his mother, Gertrude, and the rest of the characters. On the contrary, Hamlet does not act
insane around his friend, Horatio. For example, Hamlet acts very strange during the scene when he
and his family are watching the actors perform. Before the performance starts, Hamlet disrespects
Denmark by jokily whistling the national anthem. After that, he constantly makes sexual remarks
with Ophelia all while trying to get Claudius to confess his crimes. Another example of this crazy
behavior is during the scene with Hamlet and Gertrude after the performance. Hamlet verbal attacks
his mother and kills Polonius. And after this transpires, Hamlet sees the ghost of his father and his
mother replies, "Alas, he's mad!" (III. iv.

Difference Between A Growth Mindset
The difference between a growth mindset is that they see it as a chance to grow and develop their
intelligence even if they didn't succeed at first that person will try even if they have failed at first
and a fixed mindset is that person believes their smart or not at something and don't really need to
put a lot of effort in it or practice more if they're good at it. My mindset about my intelligence and
abilities have mostly been a fixed mindset when it comes to stuff I don't understand or don't know if
I'll ever use it again. Also, my mindset has sometimes been a growth mindset if it's stuff that I easily

Musculoskeletal Markers On The Shoulders
MUSCULOSKELETAL MARKERS ON THE SHOULDERS
By: Dustin Shinkle
ANTH 3420
University of Northern Iowa
Fall 2016 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to better inform the readers what stress markers are
and what they are able to tell an anthropologist about a person. The reason that this is important is
that it can help identify specific traits of how the person lived their life and a potential understanding
of their work. In reading this paper you will hopefully have a better understanding how sex, age, and
lifestyles can influence stress markers on bones of the shoulder joints.
Introduction:
Musculoskeletal stress markers can be found at the origin and insertion points of a muscle on a
bone. These areas are known also as an enthesis. When using a muscle, a muscle will constrict and
tighten, pulling at the origin and insertion point creating more blood flow to these areas so that they
can create osteoblast as over time the bone that the muscle is attached to will diminish over time if
not restructured. Over time the amount of osteoblast tends to dwindle creating more stress markers
left on the bone. With this anthropologist, can approximate the age of an individual from the
markings that were left behind. Anthropologist are also able to determine to an extent on the sex,
weight, and other traits of the person they are analyzing. When it comes to sex of an individual
studies have found that the stress marking in males tends to be greater in males than that

Teens Tend Model Suicide Behaviors
As youth grow and continue to develop they tend to engage in suicidal behaviors due to modeling,
according to Insel and Gould (2008) teens tend model suicide behaviors due to exposure in the
media, exposure from other suicidal peers and a cluster of suicides in their general area. A
comprehensive image of risk in young people requires also the consideration of the family's
psychopathology and environmental properties. Young children and teenagers also tend to have
under developed pre fontal cortex in which logic and comprehensive thinking is located, by having
an under developed pre fontal cortex young children and teens tend to process their current mental
state from the Amygdala, in which is known to process emotions and reduces the ability to think
logically and rationally. In adult males that have ended their life due to self–harm behaviors can be
related to having low testosterone levels when compared to healthy men without mental health
problems (Sher, 2013.) In a recent study conducted by Jonathon et al (2013) they found that adults
that had a shorter brain stem and basal ganglia represents a biomarker of depression and suggesting
dysregulation of the brains serotonin neurotransmitters revealing symptoms of depression and
suicidal behaviors. In later states of adult hood when dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and amnesia
related disorders tend to be a factor to force an individual to end their own life. When a child or an

Evaluation Of An Extraverted Feeler With Sensing Strengths
After taking the MBTI assessment, I learned that I am ESFJ, other wise known as an extraverted
feeler with sensing strengths. Extraversion means people who tend to focus on the outer world of
people and things. Sensing tends to focus on the present and concrete information. Feeling tends to
be based primarily on values and on subjective evaluation of person–centered concerns. Finally,
judging tend to like a planned and organized approach to like and prefer to have things settled. My
dominant strength is feeling and being able to help other people. With feeling being my biggest
strength, we are best when responsible for winning peoples cooperation with personal caring and
practical help. By reading on ESFJ, I found out that I am sociable, orderly, opinioned, conscientious
and realistic. All of these definitions fit my personality perfectly and really define who I am. An
ESFJ has many amazing qualities and one of them is the ability to radiate sympathy. They tend to
concern themselves with the people around them and value harmonious people. Being harmonious is
really big for an ESFJ because they find value in other peoples opinions and feel everyone needs to
be heard. They want to live in a harmonious life so avoid conflict. The strengths ESFJ's have could
go on forever, but a huge strength is compassion. Their compassion and awareness of physical
conditions often attracts them to health professions where they can provide warmth, comfort, and
patient caring. Therefore,

Is Bilingualism Be The Alternate Use Of Two Or More...
"Bilingualism is considered to be the alternate use of two or more languages by the same individual"
(Mackey, 1957: 51, cited in Beardsmore & Baetens 1987). Recently, it has been debated among
scholars, as to whether there is a difference in emotionality in a bilingual's first language (L1) or
second language (L2). Currently, the consensus is that that L1 tends to be most emotive, especially
when expressing issues regarding childhood memories, whereas L2 tends to be more involved in
encoding unemotional topics (Dewaele, 2008). Other research (Aycicegi–Dinn, Ayse & Caldwell –
Harris, 2009) tends to suggest there is no difference between emotional expression in L1 and L2.
Despite researchers being unable to agree, this essay will focus primarily on critically evaluating,
and discussing how negative emotion differs, in particular anger and embarrassment, in L1 and L2.
It will also briefly discuss the expression of positive emotion in bilinguals and which language is
favoured.
Anooshian and Hertel (1994) found a better recall for emotion words in L1 than L2 in comparison to
neutral words. On the contrary, Ayçiçeği & Harris (2004) found a greater emotional recall in L2
rather than L1; a stronger recall was unexpectedly established in negative and taboo words, rather
than positive words in L2. This could suggest that L2 is best used by bilinguals in order to express
negative emotion, acting as barrier protecting the individual from unpleasant stimuli. The findings

Crime, As A Phenomenon, Tends To Vary In Prevalence By
Crime, as a phenomenon, tends to vary in prevalence by location. Some scholars state that a city
does not develop randomly, but grows according to basic social processes such as invasion,
dominance and accommodation (Robert E. Park, 1925) – which then establishes a 'moral order'.
social ecosystems behold and develop unique values – meaning the sanctity of aspects such as
family, environment, materials, and culture in certain geographical spaces may be more susceptible
to crime than other spaces. In Australia, the two biggest factors that influence the rate of crime seem
to be population density and economic disparity. This, along with acclaimed criminological theory

From January 2016 to January 2017, Fremantle experienced 383 assaults, North Bridge with 420,
and Perth with 834. Although the scene of the nightlife in itself may have some contribution to
criminal activity, it is typically the socialisation between large, dense groups of people that
encourage potentially dangerous factors like drug and alcohol abuse. However, with non–violent
crimes, some researchers found that property crime is more prevalent in regions containing smaller
cities and towns rather than large cities (André–Michel Guerry, 1830). Overall, Guerry end up
concluding that associating crime as a direct correlation to population density is rather an
oversimplification of crime as a phenomenon, ignoring a variety of factors which regularly (but not
all the time) accompany population density. Guerry's conclusion still holds strong relevance in
contemporary arguments; especially in Australia. The state governments of New South Wales and
Victoria predicate their arguments for more funding from the Australian Grants Commission on the
fact that their cities are larger and more densely populated – thus producing a more "crime–
producing" environment which justifies more funding. However, this justification is opposed by
surveys and police data that express WA and SA having experienced higher crime rates than NSW
and Victoria, and their cities having at minimum similar rates with the two

lives. These people are attending her funeral and pitching in memories and tales they remember
from Emily's life. It is through the collective voices and opinions of the crowd that the reader is able
to interpret Emily's struggles. With Emily Grierson's choices the reader can tell that she is a

The townspeople felt bad for Emily and thought the reason for her craziness was because her family

the dead body of her father to lie in her home rotting away. Another crazy action that Emily does is
when she goes to the pharmacy to purchase "rat poison". When Emily goes to buy the arsenic she
doesn't tell the druggist what exactly she is going to use it for, but stares him down making him feel
uncomfortable. "Miss Emily just stared at him, her head tilted back in order to look him eye for eye,
until he looked away and went and got the arsenic and wrapped it up" (213). One of the most
extreme actions Emily performs is being responsible for Homer Barron's death. But, after fully
reading the story the reader understands that Emily not only kills Homer but sleeps with his corpse.
"What was left of him, rotted beneath what was left of the nightshirt, had become inextricable from
the bed in which he lay... Then we noticed that in the second pillow was the indentation of a head.
One of us lifted something from it, and leaning forward, that faint and invisible dust dry and acrid in

The Pros And Cons Of Multiculturalism
Canada is a place known to be a multiculturalism country to many. Although it is meant to be a
positive thing in many minds, it is also tended to be a negative thing. This is shown in the essays
"No Place Like Home" by Neil Bissondath, and "Immigrants, Multiculralism, and Canadian
citizenship" by Will Kymlicka. Both essay make powerful points to why multiculturalism is
negative, but also shows the method that the authors use to write such as racism, how both author's
use the pathos and logos method, but also false premises. In the essay, "No Place like home" by Neil
Bissondath argues that although multiculturalism has emphasized differences it has also created a
divide. Canada is seen to have a record of racism, that shows an ongoing separation in Quebec. This
would also include sexism, and various forms of discrimination that are tied in with racism. Till
today, people are discriminated on their physical appearance. As multiculturalism grows in Canada
racism becomes to be a problem to some. Bissondath goes on to say that although there is a damage
of multiculturalism, many Canadians need to, "pursue acceptance of others–not mere tolerance of
them" (Bissondath, Page 307). What is meant to be said by that quote is, Canadians need to learn to
accept other's rather than parting ways due to someone's color, race, or their appearance. However,
Will Kymlicka says in his essay, the more multiculturalism the better. Kymlicka says that

There are many individual questions on this were scored lower than I would like, but they are areas
that I felt I excelled in on the other questions, It looks like I scored higher in the Seek First to
Understand and Synergize sections than in the other areas, I feel this is because of constant thought
of how ones actions can and do affect others, Because of that I am sensitive to the feelings of others
and seek to not only understand them, but make sure they are not caused discomfort by me, I feel
this makes me a good leader because I can also lead others to being accountable for their actions and
natural consequences of those actions while keeping their feelings and needs at hand, This is
something that I have learned over the years and am sure I still need to work on, As any leader I

It’S Said That The Universe Will Tend To Move Toward A
It's said that the universe will tend to move toward a state with a higher entropy. Every gas
molecules will spontaneously diffuse to fill a container which will increase the overall entropy of the
universe. Evolution is then can be thought to follow this same basic principle. Nature has given
every species living in it an indefinite amount of time which allows them to evolve. Ergo, for over
three billion years, some of the single cell organisms had been successfully evolving into the
numerous multicellular organisms that we know of today, us included; and some, who were not able
to improve within the given time, would be exterminated (Darwin 120). But, what is it that she has

Although this is not a closed circuit, some energy is dissipated, some is added; but it is a sustained
circuit (Leopold 43). This similar instance was also explained in Darwin's theory as the struggle for
life for every species. In Darwinian theory, the struggle for life does not only represent the species'
struggle to survive, but it also reflected on the idea that each individual is interdependent with one
another. A mistletoe seedling, for example, is said to struggle with each other if they grow close to
one another. And if a "mistletoes is disseminated by birds, its existence [now] depends on birds"
(Darwin 109). The struggle for existence that Darwin explain is then similar to the flow of energy
explained by Leopold. The seed that is disseminated by birds becomes the container for the transfer
of the energy from the sun. That energy would then be dissipated as work for the bird to fly from
one place to another, if not the energy would be transferred to yet another organism. Thus, this
seems as if evolution acts on every species with the thought of a certain ethics that the species must
followed which formed a strict system. Further continuation of the theory comes from their
explanation about the goal of evolution–"to elaborate and diversify the biota

The Continuum Of Perception, I Tend Toward Intuition
On the continuum of perception, I tend toward Intuition. There are both positives and negatives to
this preference. On the positive side, my intuition can go a long way toward perceiving the needs of
others and helping to create a positive working environment for my employees. On the negative
side, however, my preference for intuition rather than sensing the world around me plays into one of
my perceived weaknesses, which is that, since I am a fairly mild–mannered and non–aggressive
person, people could perceive me, in turn, as weak or someone who can be walked over. The reality
is that I have a strong personality and I work to be diplomatic in the face of adversity, which my
supervisors continually note is an area of strength. This lends itself well to my current leadership
style, which is a blend of democratic, synergistic, and servant leader. I like to put the onus of
responsibility on my employees such that they can buy into the work that they are doing. A part of
this is creating a team atmosphere, even against my own personal preferences, to make sure there is
a diverse talent pool addressing each constituency and issue. Finally, as a servant leader, it is my
duty to create an environment for my employees' success that fosters their growth. As a thinking
person, I have already shared how I am data–driven and strong in my analytical abilities. A threat in
my field is the oftentimes lack of data to support a project or a decision. I have taken the time to get

Today, Many Tend To Believe That Videogames Have Major
Today, many tend to believe that videogames have major negative effects on the brain and a person's
well being. People and scientists believe that videogames can be addictive after a while, they can
make children antisocial, and they negatively influence young children and teens. Although many
like to believe that videogames are more harmful than helpful, there are actually more positives than
negatives. With video games, kids learn quick thinking, multitasking, problem solving, logic, and
much more. In fact, some schools have adopted the idea of offering game design in the library as a
way to help enhance children and teens thinking. These are just a few of the many traits that kids

The effects of video games on the development of children and teenagers minds has been a
controversial topic for many years. For example, Mortal Kombat was a video game created years
ago that included intense blood and gore for the time period in which it was created. Therefore, the
Entertainment Software Rating Board was created. ERSB's goal was to create a rating system for
video games. Different video games have different ratings depending upon the content that the
ERSB thinks is okay for a specific age group. These ratings were established purely to make sure
that small children did not see or hear things that they shouldn't for their age. The rating system goes
as E (everyone), E+10 (everyone 10 and up) T (Teens), M (mature 17+), A (Adult only). E rated
games meant that those video games had content acceptable for anyone and everyone, even small
children. Those games were mostly cartoon made. If the video games were specifically meant for
children, they were most likely based off of children's movies or shows. E+10 rated video games
contain slightly more violence in them. Hence why they are rated for anyone 10 and up. These
games only have slightly more violence because by the age of ten, they have been introduced to
more adult content. However not by much since they still don't fully comprehend the difference

Power Tends To Corrupt And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely
Outline the parts of the introduction to your paper, the main points, the evidence for those points,

absolute power corrupts absolutely"(Marton). A person may by guided by the noblest of ideals and
have a cause as pure as gold or as radiant as the sun, but the moment they have absolute power there
cause will fall apart and all will have been for not. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, he
exemplifies this ideal as we follow Napoleon and his rise to power, or rather his fall from grace
towards complete degradation. Over the progression of the novel Napoleon tries to actualize the
dream of the other farm animals as he works towards the dream of "reaping what one sows". In the
process, he is put into a leadership position where he shows, the corrosive effect that power has his
morals as the story progresses displaying how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts
absolutely. Main Points: The story begins with Old Major, who is a respected on the farm, and who
had given a speech that stirred the animals emotions towards the idea of rebellion. He used his
power of respect and trust to persuade the others to pursue the vision in his dream by stating,
"Nearly the whole of the production of our labor is stolen from us by human beings. There,
comrades is the answer to our problems. It is summed up in a single word – Man" (Orwell 5).This

In today's society there have been many instances of workplace violence that has included physical
assaults, threats, verbal abuse, beatings, stabbing, rapes, obscene phone calls and shootings. I think
this is due in fact by increasing social and economic factors. At my place of employment, we have
many instances of work place violence involving staff on staff, as well as inmate against staff.
Working in such a volatile situation has kind of desensitized me to these acts and I have found
myself needing counseling and the use of anti –depressants to just get through the workweek. Being
surrounded by violence and violent individuals has a negative effect on those subjected to it on a
regular basis. Many people working in this field deny that they are affected by it emotionally,
however the reality of it shows in the high rates of suicide and divorce amongst correctional staff. 2.

a day off from school, but the amount of work put into planning is essentially wasted and free time
that a teacher could have had is gone. Therefore, I am no praying that there are no more snow days
and even if I am ever a teacher, I hope there is not, as time is wasted and overall, all that a teacher
gets out of a snow day is a headache from frustration and re–planning. Looking into the future, I
believe that I will plan mini lesson plans for early release days, morning delays and even try to
modify lesson plans for snow cancellations. Mr Allen, like myself, like to plan everything out and
the thought of a class going ahead of another would stress me out, so in the event of an early release,
or even morning delay, I believe that I will have lesson plans for this event that are connected to the
material, but not essential. For example, a lesson plan that has research time and then a class debate
would be one. While another example might be a current event lesson plan that introduces the class
to a topic such as ISIS or the events

The Story Makers

  • 1. The Story Makers The Story Makers Family members can be a person's greatest blessing or his worst nightmare. There are the relatives that can help one accomplish their wildest dreams, and there are those who succeed in spite of their relatives. These two types of relatives are very influential and tend to focus on the important and stressful topics going on in life. Then there are the relatives that inspire the crazy, wonderful memories that are told to grandkids generations later. These relatives are extreme in everything they do and can be classified into three specific types: the Drill Sergeant, the Traditionalist and the Cheek Pincher. The Drill Sergeant plans everything to his or her idea of perfection. In most cases, The Drill Sergeant in the family is a woman. She often suffers from OCBD (obsessive children's behavior disorder) and has a supercilious attitude towards everyone in her family. She pays painstaking attention to the manners of everyone around her and does not shy from pointing out everyone's mistakes. When the Sergeant cooks dinner for the family, the meal is often dull and healthy. She adds no seasoning to her dishes because that would ruin the authenticity of the ingredients. At the dinner table, she stares down each family member to make sure that they not only chew and swallow every single bite, instead of spitting out the meal into their napkins like they desperately want to do; she also expects they will pretend to enjoy the meal with smiles on their faces. • 3. Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the patterns of social acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves into groups. An example of such acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who completely ignore groups around them by staring at their phone; compared to those who strike conversations with people they haven't met before. Addressed, also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and how this resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots – with the overall time of note taking to roughly 1–hour. The first area was the quad. This area was where the majority of notes were written. I selected this area in particular because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to get a good viewing angle of the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began taking notes. The other part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I specifically took notes of group patterns during lecture, and regularly would ask questions focused on such. Finding a correlation between the different questions asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew my conclusions. I am always fascinated between how people socialize. This topic is close to my heart because I was an extreme introvert before my final years of high–school. Not being able to just start a simple conversation because of social anxiety is one of the worst feelings anybody can have, and it takes a lot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Literature Written For Young Adults Tends To Leave Behind Literature written for young adults tends to leave behind the wide–eyed idealism of novels intended for children and depicts a world in which adolescents must discover and negotiate their place within various powerful social institutions. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton continues these major themes of the genre through its depiction of fourteen–year–old Ponyboy Curtis and his attempts to understand his own social position.. The boys all belong to the same general age group, but it is significant that Ponyboy and his friend Johnny are the youngest members of the gang. There is a contrast between the attitudes of the older members of the gang and the younger members that clearly highlights the effect of disillusionment on youth as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is likely that Johnny 's comparative youth plays a major role in why the gang feels so strongly that they need to defend him. While every member of the gang looks out for one another, the incident where Johnny was beaten within an inch of his life had profound impact on them because of the way the gang perceives him. Johnny and Ponyboy, as the youngest members of the group, are defended by the older members of the gang without hesitation. Both of the young men are also considered to be kinder than the rest of them, as though they are still perceived to have a sense of optimism and hope in them. The juxtaposition of Ponyboy 's relationship with his elder brother Darry and the affection that Dally has for Johnny demonstrates that Johnny is quite literally a younger brother figure. This is especially important, because it simultaneously shows the collapse of childhood innocence, and the desperation to maintain it against a bleak outlook on life. It is ultimately Johnny 's beating by the Socs, the powerful elite of their town, that results in Ponyboy 's imminent struggle with understanding the social forces at work. It is Johnny 's beating that begins the process of disillusionment for Ponyboy, especially as he begins to relay the tale of how they found Johnny that night to Cherry Valance, and exacerbates Ponyboy 's growing dissatisfaction with the established status quo between the Socs and ... • 7. Technology And Technology Essay Technology has become a huge topic in today's century, it has brought both negative and positive questions in mind. The biggest question that people ask themselves is whether all those new gadgets they possess benefit or damage their families at the end. In other words, technology has become a part in the lives of families in the past century or so, it has made it easier to find information by using their fingertips and keep in close contact with relatives living in other countries. New technology was created for entertainment and usefulness in people's lives, such as televisions, tablets, phones, and so on. This essay will discuss both the positive and negative impacts technology has created, as well as to how helpful it is within families. One way that technology has become helpful in families, is that it has given a variety of ways to help keep track of one's health. There have been multiple occasions that technology has been useful in families by helping them find a way to improve their health. Fassnacht, Ali, Silva, Goncalves, and Machado (2015) have recently done a study where they analyzed that text messaging can help maintain a child physically active to improve their health. Families have seen technology as useful in helping their children maintain a healthy and balanced life using messages. In which, children join a program and are asked questions through messages about their activities done throughout the day or to send reminders about the types of foods they ... • 9. Summary : Member Involvement Tends To Help Retention? So What's Next? So what's next?? Everyone has done an outstanding job of bringing 20 new members into our squadron this year. But we have fallen short on member retention. We all must realize that it is just as important to have current members renew their membership as it is to have new members join. I understand things happen; health issues; financial issues; family issues. These are all unavoidable circumstances. But what about those that don't renew for other reasons? As your newly appointed commander, I would like to focus on three points pertaining to our next step: member retention. First, how member involvement tends to help retention. Second, why the personal benefits of membership is invaluable. And third, why appropriate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How about "personalized, in–depth, hands on training both on–the–water and in the classroom; teaching and mentoring opportunities; on–the–water–fun: cruises, day–trips, raft–ups; community involvement; boat insurance discounts; travel discounts; shopping discounts" (United States Power Squadron, n.d.) just to name a few. Of course the most valuable resource the squadron has is sitting in this room right now. You, the members, and all of your knowledge and experience is priceless. Become a salesperson; sell why you enjoy being a member. "We need to stress benefits. Benefits should be emphasized in different ways and different times throughout the first year" (Haughey, 2015). So, we've covered the importance of member involvement and emphasizing the value of their membership through education and experiences. Any idea on what the third point might be? Appropriate Communication Appropriate communication is essential. Whether we are communicating face–to–face, via social media, on the phone, or through snail mail, we always have to think about what we are saying, how we are saying it, and how the other person is going to perceive the information. It's not going to help our retention numbers if we don't communicate properly and positively. Member retention starts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Social Media Platform Of Tumblr Albert Costill, writer for Search Engine Journal, reports that 66% of Tumblr users are under 35 years old, while 39% are under the age of 25. Costill also noted that 13% of 18–to–29 year olds have used the social media platform (Costill). These statistics prove how common and thus influential Tumblr is amongst young adults. Tumblr is a social media website and application that allows users to make their own personal blog with posts consisting of text, pictures, and videos. One of the main reasons that Tumblr is so prominent amongst young people is because of the sense of anonymity that the website can provide. Whereas normal social media platform's ask the user to identify themselves by name, on Tumblr there is a choice; a user gets to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By setting the tone for what is popular, young people's actions are directly influenced by what they see on Tumblr. Since whatever people on this form of social media do is instantly seen as acceptable, young adults tend to try and conform to these trends. Typically the trends seen on Tumblr all have a rebellious and unruly connotation, thus mostly having a negative impact on society. Things such as drugs, alcohol, sex, and nudity are all heavily promoted on Tumblr. In addition to these, mental illness is largely advocated for on Tumblr. Mental illnesses tend to be glamorized online causing those who have these conditions to oftentimes become even worse. While Tumblr is a great way to meet people who are similar to you, it can also be detrimental in the fact that people can bond over topics such as mental illness. Surely there are many blogs offering help to those who are suffering with these types of conditions, but the ones that gain the most attention are the blogs that make these types of problems worse. Caitlin Dewey, reporter for The Washington Post, says that self–harm blogs "can be disturbing: sites dedicated solely to cutting, suicide, or eating disorders, replete with stomach–turning details, high–contrast photos, and song lyrics from depressive teen bands" (Dewey, Self–harm). • 13. Children Tend To Idolize Older People In Their Minds. Whether Children tend to idolize older people in their minds. Whether it is a sibling, teacher or parent, they cannot wait to be older and grow up "just like that person." In the child's mind, that person is perfect and a hero. Okonkwo, from the book "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe, was a great warrior and powerful man. He was a father and husband to many and the great leader in the community. On the other hand, Oedipus, from the play "Oedipus is King" by Sophocles, was the king of his own land. He also had a loving wife and two children who admired him. In literature, both men were great and were written about because people saw them as heroes. The definition of a hero is a man who is admired by their people, brave, a warrior and courageous, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was not courageous either. He kills people because he is scared not as an act of courage. At the end of the book, he kills himself which is not a courageous act. The people were asked by the missionaries why they left Okonkwo's body hanging and a man responded, "It's an abomination for a man to take his own life... a man who commits it will not be buried by his clansmen. His body is evil, and only strangers may touch it" (207). A king who is adored by all his people is hard to find, but Oedipus was loved by everyone. He was kind and wise. He treated his family with care and truly loved his children and wife. Within the book, the chorus would mention how he was loved by everyone and he cared enough for even the poor. Oedipus even told the people that he loved the country more than they did and that the weight of their problems were greater on him because he felt personally responsible for everyone's problems and would do anything to help. He was thought to be foreigner to the land and yet when he saved it from the sphinx it became his home land. The people of the land admired him because he saved them because he answered the riddle and saved the whole town from destruction. When the people were upset that there was a curse on the land because the old king was murdered, Oedipus was willing to go to great lengths to ensure the safety and peace of the people by ... • 15. Workplace Reflection Essay There are racial things happening all around us every day but many times people can block it out or don't notice it because it seems normal. This week I decided to watch and see what racial or gender type things happen at my place of work. I work at a restaurant in downtown Green Bay, it a bit more expensive than most places. I'm going to cover the way customers are served and how they are treated and how things are a little more advanced in the kitchen staff. First of all, I am a host at the restaurant so I watch closely to make sure all tables are getting service, when a table is first sat the table is greeted by the server in a happy tone Usually if the customers reply back in a happy way and friendly way that table will get more attention from the server throughout their time at the restaurant. When the customer tends to treat the server more as a servant and not as a real person the servers tend to not check up on the table as much because the table doesn't seem friendly. Another thing I noticed is that when a table sits and they are dressed nicely and servers my pay more attention to them compared to a table that is in sweatpants. Servers pay more attention to the tables that are dressed nicely because they expect them to tip better, I have seen this first hand with two tables sat at about the same time and the family dressed nicer tip decently and the table in sweats tipped 74 cents on a $35 bill. Now I know that I don't know the financial backgrounds of these two families but this is a more expensive restaurant so customers tend to spend more than going to a Red Robins. Two–way asymmetric communication occurs when a sender asks for feedback, such as might happen when a speaker asks the audience if they have heard the information or understood what was being said. Based on the answer, the speaker may adjust the volume on the microphone or repeat a particular segment, but the overall goal of the communication and its messages does not change. • 21. Homework Persuasive Essay Are you happy with your job right now? Do you wish that you did something beneficial for yourself in school? Do you even use any of the stuff you learned in school in your today life? I very much believe that the homework given for school is honestly inconsiderate, time consuming, and it's unethical. I stand by these factors for many reasons. As much as I see why it's given, I do indeed believe that the reasons pushed against it are more important than the latter. Regardless, here is my reasoning of why homework is inconsiderate to students, time consuming for them, and unethical to their lives. I wish that parents that make their kids do homework would take a second and look at what they're doing. And if that doesn't seem beneficial to them, they are being inconsiderate as those kids, young or older, are being piled with work that they will never use in the rest of their lives. Especially if that parent knows if their family is struggling and still sending a child to school to do things that will not benefit their family. Perhaps that family is struggling with money, food, relationships, even lack of a shelter for them to stay. Most parents get this thing in their head that if their child doesn't do all this work, then they will fail in life, but that child is being filled with knowledge that makes them confused on what they actually want to do. Then they demand that you not only do the pile of useless work that holds that kid back from doing something more productive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Sport Specialization In Sport Sport Specialization At a young age, children tend to start participating in sports as a way to get active and learn both athletic as well as life skills. Their parents might start them off with one sport and then before you know it the child is juggling a handful of sports to see, which ones they like. As these young athletes get older, they tend to get stuck at a crossroad. The athletes are posed with the same decision: to specialize in one sport or to continue playing all the sports they love. However, do athletes that specialize in one sport perform better as they grow up compared to those that continue playing multiple sports? It is important to resolve this question because there has been a rise in early youth sport specialization over the last few years due to pressure put on athletes by their coaches and parents, rather than a logical rationale (Myer 2015). Often, as young athletes reach middle school and high school levels, coaches and parents tend to see the potential these athletes have. As a result, the athletes are persuaded and or forced into quitting certain sports to specialize in their dominant sport with hopes of achieving more success. However, these children miss out in experiences they might have had if they didn't quit those sports. If they choose not to quit, they are usually treated differently by their coaches. Coaches will talk to them in a hasty manner compared to other kids or even discipline them harder, solely because the athlete didn't do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Garreau brings up possible dangers, minor inconveniences, and what truly defines a friend in the new media world we live in. I felt Garreau came across as jaded by most of the interviews he conducted. He did not seem to speak with a wide array of people that gave positive impacts social media can have, but rather focused on the negatives of the subject. Garreau did bring up valid points, however, from personal safety to the aspect of different people in your life seeing your different personalities. For instance your Grandma that you go to church with on Sunday 's is now seeing the pictures of you partying with your friends on Saturday night. Specifically in "Friends Indeed" Garreau covers views on social media and the impacts it has on relationships, representing all different walks of life from a college student transitioning into the work force to a cattle rancher from Wyoming. Garreau states, "Networked people who haven 't seen each other in forever already know about the new boyfriend, and what happened to the old one–in very great detail" (122). In making this comment, Garreau states that catching up with old friends or family has drastically changed and seems to imply a real world disconnect in our relationships. Implicit Personality Traits Tend To Co-Occur In People Implicit personality theory is a concept used to explain a person's the notions regarding which personality traits tend to co–occur in people. Implicit theories of personality guide people, as social perceivers, to make interpretations of others, (Dunning, 2007). For example, if a perceiver sees a man in a smart suit and presumed that dressing well is linked with success, then it is likely that the perceiver infer that the other person is successful. A person who is understands the concept of implicit personality theory, can be used to direct the views and beliefs of others in the service of personal or social objectives; this is known as impression management (IM) or self–representation. In other words, people can employ specific behavioral strategies to manipulate the impressions that their spectators form, (Dunn & Forrin, 2007; Cole, & Rozell, 2011). To a child, a being that sprouts from the earth to reach toward the sun is considered a tree; a large mass of liquid that changes its colors to match the sky and smells of salt is the ocean. We apply simple terms to everything, so that we may easily communicate our thoughts to our peers. As I have grown older, it has become a habit to look back on life and in doing so, I have noticed that the users of the English language attempt great lengths to apply a word to remarkably complex of subjects. They are not, however, able to perform the same task with themselves. We as people tend to gravitate toward others with similar characteristics, whether it be a face or place; it can be said of both the older generation and its younger counterpart. As the eldest child of my family, I was expected to reach a high standard throughout life. And with no other options, that is what I did. They'd brag about how brilliant I was; how I'd read and write religiously; how I was such a good girl and far more mature than others my age. I devoured my parents' praise like it was my only source of sustenance. Soon, my world revolved around the satisfaction that came with their pride in me. So when I was a child trying to find my place in the world, it was quite natural for me to fall into the welcoming arms of those who shared my characteristics. • 33. Lord Of The Flies Piggy Character Analysis Piggy is one of the main characters in Lord of the Flies. He is a timid, lazy boy, mainly recognized by his asthma, glasses and fat body. I will look at the way Golding uses Piggy to explore different concepts, including civilization, isolation and social order. Piggy is probably the most civilized character in the book; even as the others begin to lose their morality, he sustains a sense of community and basic ethic. In the first chapter, he suggests using the conch to call other victims of the plane crash. This was a crucial part of the boys coming together and finding each other on the island and maintains basis for the actual plot of the book. Also, Piggy repeatedly compares the boys to children, for example, "like a pack of kids". This simile highlights the effect of irony because they are, of course, kids, but it shows that Piggy does not regard himself as a child. He believes that the other boys act immature and has decidedly set himself apart from their behaviour. As well as this, Piggy is always found holding the conch; "he caressed the conch respectfully". He relies on it to uphold a community–wide sense of civilization, and comfort himself in the way that he can revert back to the rules on holding the conch while speaking when he is being interrupted. For instance, on page 42, Piggy says, "I got the conch. You let me speak!". This is very important because it demonstrates the symbolism of the conch as an object of society, and how much he considers its moral and societal value. As well as this, Piggy is a pariah in the book. The boys dislike him a lot and hold very little respect for him – this is said quite bluntly in Chapter 5, "Piggy was an outsider". Despite his intelligence often being of use to them, they tend to disregard his contributions to the group. One example of this is when Ralph "pushed Piggy on one side" when he was trying to speak. This can be seen as both a literal and metaphorical representation of how Piggy is treated. What is meant by the quote is that Ralph physically pushed him aside, however it can be interpreted that Ralph and the boys not only shove Piggy around physically, but they also bully him verbally and overlook his advice and opinions. In one case, one may act outlandish and carefree when he is with his friends, but on the other hand, he might act in a more reserved and quiet manner when around people he is less acquainted with. This behavior could lead to people wondering whether or not this person is being genuine with them or not. Moreover, these actions are quite common in society, literature, and many psychological and scientific studies. Overall, people should act as genuine as they can in order to prevent false assumptions about the person. Musculoskeletal Markers On The Shoulders MUSCULOSKELETAL MARKERS ON THE SHOULDERS By: Dustin Shinkle ANTH 3420 University of Northern Iowa Fall 2016 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to better inform the readers what stress markers are and what they are able to tell an anthropologist about a person. The reason that this is important is that it can help identify specific traits of how the person lived their life and a potential understanding of their work. In reading this paper you will hopefully have a better understanding how sex, age, and lifestyles can influence stress markers on bones of the shoulder joints. Introduction: Musculoskeletal stress markers can be found at the origin and insertion points of a muscle on a bone. These areas are known also as an enthesis. When using a muscle, a muscle will constrict and tighten, pulling at the origin and insertion point creating more blood flow to these areas so that they can create osteoblast as over time the bone that the muscle is attached to will diminish over time if not restructured. Over time the amount of osteoblast tends to dwindle creating more stress markers left on the bone. With this anthropologist, can approximate the age of an individual from the markings that were left behind. Anthropologist are also able to determine to an extent on the sex, weight, and other traits of the person they are analyzing. When it comes to sex of an individual studies have found that the stress marking in males tends to be greater in males than that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"Bilingualism is considered to be the alternate use of two or more languages by the same individual" (Mackey, 1957: 51, cited in Beardsmore & Baetens 1987). Recently, it has been debated among scholars, as to whether there is a difference in emotionality in a bilingual's first language (L1) or second language (L2). Currently, the consensus is that that L1 tends to be most emotive, especially when expressing issues regarding childhood memories, whereas L2 tends to be more involved in encoding unemotional topics (Dewaele, 2008). Other research (Aycicegi–Dinn, Ayse & Caldwell – Harris, 2009) tends to suggest there is no difference between emotional expression in L1 and L2. Despite researchers being unable to agree, this essay will focus primarily on critically evaluating, and discussing how negative emotion differs, in particular anger and embarrassment, in L1 and L2. It will also briefly discuss the expression of positive emotion in bilinguals and which language is favoured. Anooshian and Hertel (1994) found a better recall for emotion words in L1 than L2 in comparison to neutral words. On the contrary, Ayçiçeği & Harris (2004) found a greater emotional recall in L2 rather than L1; a stronger recall was unexpectedly established in negative and taboo words, rather than positive words in L2. This could suggest that L2 is best used by bilinguals in order to express negative emotion, acting as barrier protecting the individual from unpleasant stimuli. The findings from Ayçiçeği ... Some scholars state that a city does not develop randomly, but grows according to basic social processes such as invasion, dominance and accommodation (Robert E. Park, 1925) – which then establishes a 'moral order'. social ecosystems behold and develop unique values – meaning the sanctity of aspects such as family, environment, materials, and culture in certain geographical spaces may be more susceptible to crime than other spaces. However, with non–violent crimes, some researchers found that property crime is more prevalent in regions containing smaller cities and towns rather than large cities (André–Michel Guerry, 1830). Overall, Guerry end up concluding that associating crime as a direct correlation to population density is rather an oversimplification of crime as a phenomenon, ignoring a variety of factors which regularly (but not all the time) accompany population density. Guerry's conclusion still holds strong relevance in contemporary arguments; especially in Australia. The state governments of New South Wales and Victoria predicate their arguments for more funding from the Australian Grants Commission on the fact that their cities are larger and more densely populated – thus producing a more "crime– producing" environment which justifies more funding. Emily allows the dead body of her father to lie in her home rotting away. Another crazy action that Emily does is when she goes to the pharmacy to purchase "rat poison". When Emily goes to buy the arsenic she doesn't tell the druggist what exactly she is going to use it for, but stares him down making him feel uncomfortable. "Miss Emily just stared at him, her head tilted back in order to look him eye for eye, until he looked away and went and got the arsenic and wrapped it up" (213). One of the most extreme actions Emily performs is being responsible for Homer Barron's death. But, after fully reading the story the reader understands that Emily not only kills Homer but sleeps with his corpse. "What was left of him, rotted beneath what was left of the nightshirt, had become inextricable from the bed in which he lay... Then we noticed that in the second pillow was the indentation of a head. One of us lifted something from it, and leaning forward, that faint and invisible dust dry and acrid in the nostrils, we saw a long strand of iron–gray hair" (215) There the reader's thought of Emily sleeping with the dead body and her psychotic tendencies is confirmed. Emily does not take the thought of change and rejection lightly. "See Colonel Sartoris. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. The Pros And Cons Of Multiculturalism Canada is a place known to be a multiculturalism country to many. Although it is meant to be a positive thing in many minds, it is also tended to be a negative thing. This is shown in the essays "No Place Like Home" by Neil Bissondath, and "Immigrants, Multiculralism, and Canadian citizenship" by Will Kymlicka. Both essay make powerful points to why multiculturalism is negative, but also shows the method that the authors use to write such as racism, how both author's use the pathos and logos method, but also false premises. In the essay, "No Place like home" by Neil Bissondath argues that although multiculturalism has emphasized differences it has also created a divide. Canada is seen to have a record of racism, that shows an ongoing separation in Quebec. This would also include sexism, and various forms of discrimination that are tied in with racism. Till today, people are discriminated on their physical appearance. As multiculturalism grows in Canada racism becomes to be a problem to some. Bissondath goes on to say that although there is a damage of multiculturalism, many Canadians need to, "pursue acceptance of others–not mere tolerance of them" (Bissondath, Page 307). What is meant to be said by that quote is, Canadians need to learn to accept other's rather than parting ways due to someone's color, race, or their appearance. However, Will Kymlicka says in his essay, the more multiculturalism the better. Kymlicka says that immigrants are supportive and that they have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Reflection Of My Leadership As A Leader There are many individual questions on this were scored lower than I would like, but they are areas that I felt I excelled in on the other questions, It looks like I scored higher in the Seek First to Understand and Synergize sections than in the other areas, I feel this is because of constant thought of how ones actions can and do affect others, Because of that I am sensitive to the feelings of others and seek to not only understand them, but make sure they are not caused discomfort by me, I feel this makes me a good leader because I can also lead others to being accountable for their actions and natural consequences of those actions while keeping their feelings and needs at hand, This is something that I have learned over the years and am sure I still need to work on, As any leader I have strengths as well as weaknesses, I feel one of my strengths is my willingness to listen to others, I have always let other know that I am open to their suggestions, I make it clear that another's idea might be a better way to do something, If the idea is good and things can be changed then they should, I feel my willingness to not only listen, but to hear what they say is why I feel this is one of my strengths, Typically people only truly listen only 25 percent of time, The other 75 percent is spent without truly listening to what a person is saying (McIntosh, 2008), Another of my strengths is that I thrive in stressful situations, I can still get things done and do not buckle under ... • 65. It’S Said That The Universe Will Tend To Move Toward A It's said that the universe will tend to move toward a state with a higher entropy. Every gas molecules will spontaneously diffuse to fill a container which will increase the overall entropy of the universe. Evolution is then can be thought to follow this same basic principle. Nature has given every species living in it an indefinite amount of time which allows them to evolve. Ergo, for over three billion years, some of the single cell organisms had been successfully evolving into the numerous multicellular organisms that we know of today, us included; and some, who were not able to improve within the given time, would be exterminated (Darwin 120). But, what is it that she has been eager to see through this long–lasting experiment of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this is not a closed circuit, some energy is dissipated, some is added; but it is a sustained circuit (Leopold 43). This similar instance was also explained in Darwin's theory as the struggle for life for every species. In Darwinian theory, the struggle for life does not only represent the species' struggle to survive, but it also reflected on the idea that each individual is interdependent with one another. A mistletoe seedling, for example, is said to struggle with each other if they grow close to one another. And if a "mistletoes is disseminated by birds, its existence [now] depends on birds" (Darwin 109). The struggle for existence that Darwin explain is then similar to the flow of energy explained by Leopold. The seed that is disseminated by birds becomes the container for the transfer of the energy from the sun. That energy would then be dissipated as work for the bird to fly from one place to another, if not the energy would be transferred to yet another organism. Thus, this seems as if evolution acts on every species with the thought of a certain ethics that the species must followed which formed a strict system. Further continuation of the theory comes from their explanation about the goal of evolution–"to elaborate and diversify the biota ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. The Continuum Of Perception, I Tend Toward Intuition On the continuum of perception, I tend toward Intuition. There are both positives and negatives to this preference. On the positive side, my intuition can go a long way toward perceiving the needs of others and helping to create a positive working environment for my employees. On the negative side, however, my preference for intuition rather than sensing the world around me plays into one of my perceived weaknesses, which is that, since I am a fairly mild–mannered and non–aggressive person, people could perceive me, in turn, as weak or someone who can be walked over. The reality is that I have a strong personality and I work to be diplomatic in the face of adversity, which my supervisors continually note is an area of strength. This lends itself well to my current leadership style, which is a blend of democratic, synergistic, and servant leader. I like to put the onus of responsibility on my employees such that they can buy into the work that they are doing. A part of this is creating a team atmosphere, even against my own personal preferences, to make sure there is a diverse talent pool addressing each constituency and issue. Finally, as a servant leader, it is my duty to create an environment for my employees' success that fosters their growth. As a thinking person, I have already shared how I am data–driven and strong in my analytical abilities. A threat in my field is the oftentimes lack of data to support a project or a decision. • 69. Today, Many Tend To Believe That Videogames Have Major Today, many tend to believe that videogames have major negative effects on the brain and a person's well being. People and scientists believe that videogames can be addictive after a while, they can make children antisocial, and they negatively influence young children and teens. Although many like to believe that videogames are more harmful than helpful, there are actually more positives than negatives. With video games, kids learn quick thinking, multitasking, problem solving, logic, and much more. In fact, some schools have adopted the idea of offering game design in the library as a way to help enhance children and teens thinking. These are just a few of the many traits that kids will need later on in life. Since the mid to late 1900s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (TRANSITION) The effects of video games on the development of children and teenagers minds has been a controversial topic for many years. For example, Mortal Kombat was a video game created years ago that included intense blood and gore for the time period in which it was created. Therefore, the Entertainment Software Rating Board was created. ERSB's goal was to create a rating system for video games. Different video games have different ratings depending upon the content that the ERSB thinks is okay for a specific age group. These ratings were established purely to make sure that small children did not see or hear things that they shouldn't for their age. The rating system goes as E (everyone), E+10 (everyone 10 and up) T (Teens), M (mature 17+), A (Adult only). E rated games meant that those video games had content acceptable for anyone and everyone, even small children. Those games were mostly cartoon made. If the video games were specifically meant for children, they were most likely based off of children's movies or shows. E+10 rated video games contain slightly more violence in them. Hence why they are rated for anyone 10 and up. These games only have slightly more violence because by the age of ten, they have been introduced to more adult content. However not by much since they still don't fully comprehend the difference ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These questions that appear in our thoughts are probably due to encounters with experiences of struggle. In every human being that has ever lived, struggle is part of life. It is an obstacle that is faced every day. There are some who struggle more than others. It is a hardship they endure and try to breakaway to be free from it. In many cases, struggling varies from one another. Such as, the struggle to be free and the struggle to live. In United States of America, the nation is known by many, and perhaps worldwide for its American Dream and being the Land of the Free, but also for its shameful historical past of slavery. ... Growing up, he never questioned freedom because he did not know what freedom meant. In his memory, he recalled, "I was raised in a gaunt house... around the orchard and gardens stood a wall of some height, designed... to keep us all from slipping away and running from freedom; though that, of course, I did not yet understand" (Anderson 3). Little did he know, he is a prisoner inside of a property he is being taken care of. • 73. Power Tends To Corrupt And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely Outline the parts of the introduction to your paper, the main points, the evidence for those points, and the conclusion of your paper. Introduction: As the saying goes, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely"(Marton). A person may by guided by the noblest of ideals and have a cause as pure as gold or as radiant as the sun, but the moment they have absolute power there cause will fall apart and all will have been for not. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, he exemplifies this ideal as we follow Napoleon and his rise to power, or rather his fall from grace towards complete degradation. Over the progression of the novel Napoleon tries to actualize the dream of the other farm animals as he works towards the dream of "reaping what one sows". In the process, he is put into a leadership position where he shows, the corrosive effect that power has his morals as the story progresses displaying how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Main Points: The story begins with Old Major, who is a respected on the farm, and who had given a speech that stirred the animals emotions towards the idea of rebellion. He used his power of respect and trust to persuade the others to pursue the vision in his dream by stating, "Nearly the whole of the production of our labor is stolen from us by human beings. There, comrades is the answer to our problems. It is summed up in a single word – Man" (Orwell 5).This dream of reaping what one sows made the animals on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Violence Tends To Threaten The Organization Of Society. Violence tends to threaten the organization of society. In today's society violence is permeated in almost every aspect of our daily lives. Violence in our society enters our homes, workplace, and schools and especially in the media. Violence is the intentional action or inaction causing physical, sexual and psychological injury, including battering, pornography, sexual assault, incest, child abuse and sexual harassment. Advertisers use sex to get our attention and they make claims about their product's ability to make us popular, attractive and successful. In my opinion ads affect us in potentially damaging ways. The ads portray bodies, especially those of women as objects, which forces us to seeing each other in dehumanizing ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today's society there have been many instances of workplace violence that has included physical assaults, threats, verbal abuse, beatings, stabbing, rapes, obscene phone calls and shootings. I think this is due in fact by increasing social and economic factors. At my place of employment, we have many instances of work place violence involving staff on staff, as well as inmate against staff. Working in such a volatile situation has kind of desensitized me to these acts and I have found myself needing counseling and the use of anti –depressants to just get through the workweek. Being surrounded by violence and violent individuals has a negative effect on those subjected to it on a regular basis. Many people working in this field deny that they are affected by it emotionally, however the reality of it shows in the high rates of suicide and divorce amongst correctional staff. 2. Compare psychological theories of aggression, in particular, the catharsis and social learning theories. The psychological theories of aggression are that it is shaped by the brain and also involves genetic factors. Aggression is a drive that is common to most animals and humans. It is described as an accumulating force, which needs to be released, usually in response to a specific stimulus. Aggressive behavior usually occurs because of an individual attempting to ... • 77. The Overall Affect Of School Cancellations On The Class... One thing that I learned this week was the overall affect of school cancellations on the class syllabus. Mr. Allen 's strategy for me is to teach every day, but to use the majority of his content prepared and lesson plans. However, with that being said, Mr. Allen and I have gone through each and every day to plan the lessons until March 6th, which is when I leave. The difficulty that has arisen is the amount of snow days that Brewer Community School has had. Last weeks two cancellations caused two very important activities to have to be thrown out and modify the week. Mr. Allen plans his units to only last a week and on Fridays, quizzes are taken to check for understanding. We were lucky that last week only had two days worth of notes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is both sad and frustrating, as there was a tremendous amount of work put in to the planning process. In the beginning I was looking forward to snow days, as they seemed like a break from teaching, but now I look at snow days and think how much of a head ache they are. It is nice to have a day off from school, but the amount of work put into planning is essentially wasted and free time that a teacher could have had is gone. Therefore, I am no praying that there are no more snow days and even if I am ever a teacher, I hope there is not, as time is wasted and overall, all that a teacher gets out of a snow day is a headache from frustration and re–planning. Looking into the future, I believe that I will plan mini lesson plans for early release days, morning delays and even try to modify lesson plans for snow cancellations. Mr Allen, like myself, like to plan everything out and the thought of a class going ahead of another would stress me out, so in the event of an early release, or even morning delay, I believe that I will have lesson plans for this event that are connected to the material, but not essential. For example, a lesson plan that has research time and then a class debate would be one.
