Spike Vs. Komodo Dragon
Once upon a time, there was an eagle, called King of the Sky, who lived in a cave on the side of a
cliff. The eagle loved his kingdom very much. He was the protector of the land. The eagle was
planning to face his cousin, Spike, because he was polluting the kingdom by throwing rubbish into
the river. Spike was known for having a bad temper, and resolving issues by using violence. On the
way to see Spike, the eagle met his friend Komodo dragon who was keen to join him to face Spike.
The eagle decided to take two friends along to witness his meeting with Spike to make sure an
agreement is achieved peacefully. The eagle would need to find one more friend to go with them to
see Spike. One week into their journey, the eagle and Komodo dragon ... Show more content on

Stegosaurus told T–Rex that they were going to have a talk with Spike who was polluting the river.
Stegosaurus asked, "Do you want to witness the talk with Spike?" T–Rex answered, "The trees in
this forest are dying and the forest animals are losing their homes. Soon I will have no food here. I
will come with you." The eagle now has three friends to come with him to see Spike. Two days later,
they arrived at the Blue Mountains. In the middle of the mountains, they met Bison also known as
King of the Mountains. Bison loved to run around on top of the mountains. The mountains gave him
food, water and fresh air. The eagle, Komodo dragon, Stegosaurus and T–Rex were tired from their
journey so they asked Bison for permission to rest on his mountains. Bison agreed and kindly gave
the eagle a map to Spike's new hideout. The four friends later travelled to Greenfield and met
Elephant. The map was confusing, so the four friends asked Elephant for help. Elephant cannot read
so he brought them to meet James the police officer. James instructed, "You have to cross
Whispering River to get there." The eagle asked, "Could you protect my family while I am gone?"
Elephant and James replied, "Yes, of

"You should never have been made a warrior." The orange tom hissed, as I glared at him, my hated
boiling over. "What are you even talking about Flamestar! I caught you. Again! First with that
Duskclan cat, and now Leafwatcher? What are you doing! You're going to tear this clan apart!" I
growled, as I sheathed and unsheathed my claws. I've known about his foul actions since an
apprentice, accidentally stumbling over one of his meetings with a Duskclan she–cat. It was a hope
that he would change, as he had convinced me to keep quiet, but no longer would I. The truth
needed to be told before he destroyed this clan. The much taller tom stared down at me, his amber
eyes looking me over. "Wolfspirit." He said slowly, his eyes turning a cool shade, "You may think
you know what's going on, but you don't know the half of it. Take my advice, and forget what has
happened." A shiver ran down my spine as I straightened, portraying false confidence. "I won't let
you get away with the this. Not again." I whispered. Glancing at his claws, I spied them already out.

Theme Of Greed In The Hobbit
Greed is a common, yet detrimental factor in society today. All around the world people experience
this type of attribute, whether it is for power or for the simple concept of desiring more in life. In
order to further this prevalent theme, Peter Jackson created the film The Hobbit–Desolation of
Smaug, in 2013. In this film, he continued the adventure of Bilbo Baggins and the dwarves and set
them off to reclaim their ancient dwarven city guarded by the dragon, Smaug. Throughout the entire
movie, the characters face many tough obstacles, those being orcs, elves and most importantly the
evil dragon. Those elves actually came to their rescue later on in the movie, proving their loyalty.
Those noble elves were Tauriel and Legolas. Also, a major character in the movie was Gandalf,
which was the powerful wizard. In the movie, he aided in their adventure by leading them to the
proper trail while also providing them with many struggles they may encounter on the way. While
all of the characters and setting play a key role in shaping the movie as a whole, the theme of greed
is a much greater aspect throughout the film. Peter Jackson implements personification, symbolism,
and foreshadowing in his movie in order to point his audience towards the bigger message, greed is
the root of all evil.
To provide his message with further reasoning, Jackson employed the rhetorical device of
personification. This device is prevalent throughout the entire movie as he gives human
characteristics to animals and also different species. By doing so he not only added another
rhetorical device to his film but he most importantly, furthered his theme by showing how it is
thought about by different characters in the movie, along with their own perspectives on the matter.
For example, in the movie the dragon is a prime representation of greed. During one scene in the
movie you see this characteristic come into play when all that is surrounding the dragon is gold and
many treasures, far more than you could ever imagine. The dragon simply kills for treasure, collects
treasure, and does nothing but lie upon it and prove his worth to those surrounding him. This
technique showed the audience how characters and creatures in a certain film exhibit

Bearded Dragon
For my report I will write about Pogona, otherwise referred to as the bearded dragon. These
harmless reptiles are mostly found in Australia in ridged rocky regions. They enjoy climbing and
can be found up on high rocks or on branches of trees. They are also typically found in dessert
regions of Australia chilling on tree stumps and rocks. For pet dragon you will want a habitat that
has a heat source on one side to keep it warm if needed and a small place to hide and climb on. They
will also obviously need a shallow dish for food and water purposes. This reptile is quite the catch.
Let me tell you about his appearance. Although he might look sharp and dangerous he is really
nothing but a softy. All the "spikes" on his body are rubbery and not sharp at all. They have flat
bodies with a row of "spikes" going down each side of the stomach. They are supported with 4
stubby legs that have 4 "toes" on each one. However, as I have come to find out through much
research, unlike most lizards, bearded dragons will not make their tail fall off if threatened and ...

Over time these dragons can grow to be 13–24 inches long from head to tip of tail. As I read in the
article, "Bearded Dragon Information & Facts" you can tell the age of your dragon by the length of
their body! Here is a chart of how to tell how old the dragon is.
Bearded dragons are omnivores meaning they need a balanced diet of meat and vegetables. Meat
should make up about 80% of their diet. These could be things like crickets and meal worms. And
the other 20% should be fruit and veggies such as kale, sweet potato, and peaches.
For reproduction it is best to place one male in with 2–3 females. This will lower the rate of fighting
compared to a one on one. Then the female will typically make a burrow 6–8 in. deep and lay her
eggs there. The eggs will hatch about 60–70 days

A Summary On The Book ' Leonidas ' Essay
Chapter One
Leonidas needed a way to die.
He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely
remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid,
but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet–proof skin and
inherent dragon healing powers. He'd tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal
them. He could keep re–cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would
heal, and he'd wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his
blood regenerated.
It was fucking hard to kill a dragon.
He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave–ti was a pocket of mountain he'd carved out
over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of his days. At least he'd made it to his tomb before
he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern's savage need to take her
by force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A
shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He'd flown away from the keep as fast as he
could, then he'd thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast
inside. His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic cage
he'd summoned.
The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind.

A Short Story : A Story?
The short, slim, man was standing next to a tombstone with many others. He looked at the coffin
with anger. He stopped making his facial expression and combed his dark black hair. His eyes
glowed and teared as he moved his chapped lips. "He was a great father, master, even leader."
sniffled Mada Mada. The rain was dripping on top of the dark grey tombstone. The thunder was
striking in every direction, but no one moved an inch. "Here lies H.B. Mada, ruthless teaching of
many skills such as archery, stealth, strength, and heart." read Hanzi. A dark green feather with
accents of black every so often, laid on top of the stone. Mada's childhood name Sparrow,
symbolizing hope and goodwill. He walked away after later to be found in the dojo. It was small,
but filled with pride robes, armor, and weapons everywhere. It was narrow but empty, short pillars
rose towards the roof barely touching. The light brown wood made up the walls and roof. In the
middle of the dojo a big metallic bell, used for ringing before fights, its silver exterior shone bright,
lighting the entire dojo. In the corner barely glowing a candle with the scent of an apple, Mada's
favorite scent. Thud! Thud! Thud! "Come in Hanzi." Mada mumbled as he was meditating in front
of a painting of two dragons. Hanzi questioned, "How could you tell I was coming?" "Father,"
responded Mada Mada, "he taught us well, very well." He grunted, "Why are you here?" "Our battle
tonight..." she spoke. "I understand, but if I

The Story Of The Komodo Dragon
"Okay. I want to do it! But how do you know this is where the chamber is?" questioned Reggie.
"Stop asking questions and say the word twice!"
"Okay, Okay! I'll do it!'
Reggie stared at the wall and with a hesitant voice announced,
"Dragon, Dragon!"
The wall remained the same.
"Why won't it work?" questioned Reggie.
"I'll try it. ssss, ssss!" answered Hector.
The wall suddenly formed a door that opened up to a room that was spacious and a young teen who
looked to be about 15 was standing in the room calmly. Hector and Reggie looked at each other and
shrugged.
"I guess it only listens to the heir," shrugged Reggie.
"Yeah. I guess. But did you hear my voice? Didn't it sound funny to you" muttered Hector.
"No, I thought you sounded normal." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thump! The vicious beast turned to Hector and Reggie as Drol uttered the words,
"Liz–tongue won't help you now! The dragon only listens to me!"
Hector and Reggie fled from the dragon, running in opposite directions. The komodo dragon
followed Hector and tried to slash his with his gigantic, sharp claws, but Hector dodged it and the
komodo dragon missed. Hector ran towards Reggie and and shouted,
"What are we going to do?"
Just as Hector shouted those words an eagle flew into the chamber and swooped down with a long,
sharp sword in it's claws. The bird dropped the sword next to Hector and rushed out of the chamber.
I can use the sword to kill the beast! Hector tossed the diary to Reggie and picked up the sword. He
ran to the komodo dragon to destroy it once and for all. The komodo dragon opened it's mouth, just
as Hector stabbed the sword into the roof of it's mouth. He held it there for a few seconds as the
komodo dragon suddenly dropped to the floor and closed it's eyes.
"It's dead!" exclaimed Hector.
"Yes you did it!" shouted Reggie with an excited tone as he ran over to Hector.
"Well, you've killed the dragon, but you still haven't destroyed something that even more powerful.
You haven't killed me! I can go out and find another wizard to get a beast so powerful, that no
student will live including him!" declared Drol.
"Actually, I can destroy you,"

Lizard Adaptations
Josiah
Lizards
The lizard is a fascinating creature. Lizards vary in size, shape, ability, dietary needs, habitat, and
mating. For instance, the Komodo dragon is bigger than a gecko, needs more food to eat, and eats a
different source of food. The iguana will live near the water, while a ruin lizard will live in grassy
fields, parks, or gardens. Nonetheless all these animals are still lizards. It is intriguing to learn about
the habitats, predators, and characteristics of lizards.
Lizards have different habitats some choose sunny places to put their homes, while others will live
in shady spots. Then there are the lizards that live in the dessert where it is nice and hot, but they
live under shelving or loose rocks because they need some protection ... Show more content on

Most lizards that live in the shade will have smooth and soft skin. This will help the lizard crawl
through tight spots. If the lizard is a chameleon then it will have a specialized tail and feet. Their tail
is a prehensile tail, this means that they can use their tail to curl around a branch; their feet are also
special because they can use them to grip tightly to a branch. Chameleons live in trees, but they do
not have soft skin; they have hard skin and horns for protection, along with their ability to
camouflage (Bishop, 22, 26).
The lizard is not friends with everybody. There are animals that when they see a lizard they do not
see the cute or cool animal that we see; they see a snack, or dinner depending on the animal. These
animals consist of birds, snakes, or even other lizards (Knopf, 487–580). When a lizard notices a
snake slithering through the ground, it most likely will not try to fight it. Now that is depending on
the size of the snake and the lizard. Obviously, if the lizard is a lot bigger than the snake then it will
fight, or the snake will just turn away. If the snake is bigger than the lizard, then most likely the
lizard will dash away or climb up a tree. Some lizards will actually stand still, so that way they are
not noticed by the snake. (Bishop,

The History Of Dragons
It's often for one to be confused about the mythical creature that was (and still is) depicted in art
forms. No one is certain of this creature, and it's hard to make theories on them. The dragon is still a
relevant topic to this day and is often said to be seen. People try to connect the dragon to creatures in
our current world. Dragons were used to depict man's fear in animals, but to understand the relations
of dragons to present day reality a person must know how others interpret them with theories.
In ancient times, dragons were told by man in different ways. This would normally vary depending
on religion. Dragons were shown with physical features of animals that were feared in the common
man. Some were depicted with lion heads, serpent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the dragon is a subject to theories. It wasn't until 1841 that English scientist Richard
Owens suggested that the group of "newly discovered animals be called "dinosaurs," which literally
means terrible lizards. Throughout the next few decades, the first artist depictions of dinosaurs were
actually comical when compared to what we can scientifically discern today. How then, do pottery,
linens, cave paintings, and written descriptions of "dragons" from 2,000 to 4,000 years ago depict
dinosaurs better than what science could muster in the mid–1800's?" (History of Dragons). Scientist
might be able to prove the existence of dragons to be false, but their reality in our modern day life is
real. Lizards such a the komodo dragon are an example. As said, they grow to be very large. In fact,
many people to this day believe that the dragons still exists. "The belief in dragons was based not
just in legend but also in hard evidence – or so it seemed. For millennia no one knew what to make
of the giant bones that were occasionally unearthed around the globe, and dragons seemed a logical
choice for people who had no knowledge of dinosaurs." (Radford 4). However, it will take some
looking to find solid proof of dragons, that doesn't mean they do or do not exist. Many people have
their own beliefs on what they do and don't

How To Train Your Dragon Analysis
'How To Train Your Dragon', a 2010 film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, uses the film
codes to enhance the audience's understanding of the film. 'How To Train Your Dragon' tells the tale
of a hapless young Viking named Hiccup, who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Together, they
teach the island of Berk about acceptance and overcoming differences. While producing the
directors used the film codes to add interest and understanding to the film, enhancing the overall
enjoyment of the film. The character code allows to better understand the personality of and have a
deeper connection with the characters. Representational code benefits the audience by letting them
decipher what the character represents. Meanwhile, the technical code uses film–making equipment
to give more information about the characters, scenes and the film in its entirety. The character code
enables the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters.
The character code enables the audience to better understand the characters by offering insight into
the personalities of the characters. The character code requires the audience to analyse the
character's speech to better understand the character's personality, actions and behaviour. This is
done through the examination of the accent, tone, pitch, pace and volume of the character/s
speaking. This is evident in the Hiccup Initiation Ceremony Confession Scene in which Hiccup spits
out, "I'm not one of them.". He states this loudly, in a low pitch, slowly spitting out the words in a
chilling manner with a cold and harsh tone. Therefore, the audience interprets this as Hiccup
displaying himself as being different to the other Vikings in the manner of behaving in an amiable
fashion towards dragons. The audience subsequently comes to the conclusion that Hiccup has a
compassionate, understanding and altruistic personality, denoting his willingness to overcome bias
and promote difference. The character code is also apparent in the Opening Scene where Stoick
harshly declares, "What are you doing out? Get inside!". Stoick speedily demanded this
thunderingly, in a low pitch with an accusing and demanding tone. As a result of this, the audience
understands Stoick to be tough, powerful

The Dragons Of Legend : The Epic Of Gilgamesh
"The dragons of legend are strangely like actual creatures that have lived in the past. They are much
like the great reptiles which inhabited the earth long before man is supposed to have appeared on
earth. Dragons were generally evil and destructive. Every country had them in its mythology."
(Knox, Wilson, "Dragon," The World Book Encyclopedia, 1973) Dragons are told in almost every
culture known to man. Descriptions of the Dragon have been written, drawn, and told in culture that
could have never met. From the North American Native tribes to the great civilization of China,
Dragons have been told. Why is that? Through my research on this, I have concluded many theories,
but all these theories still don't answer my question. In order to get the answer to my question, we
will have to re–explore all my research.
The first civilization to have recorded a dragon like creature is the ancient Assyria in form of a poem
called "Epic of Gilgamesh". In this poem, Enkidu and Gilgamesh goes to slay a monster called
Humbaba. Humbaba is describe to have scale–like skin, horns, a serpent tail, and was able to breath
fire. This was around 2100 BC and this could have been the starting point of myths surrounding
Dragons in the middle east.
However, a little after this time, a great civilization had brewed up north of ancient Assyria. We
known them as the Greeks, in which surrounded themselves in mythology, that their myths can still
be told today. In fact, one of the Greeks most popular

Then he settled for the name Komodo. Then he saw something that looked like another snake. The

Analysis Of St. George 's ' The Dragon Falls '
A fair maiden walks solemnly through the city gates, away from her family, her home, and
everything she has ever known. She begins to weep as she heads down the dusty dirt road, towards a
large pond, the home of the treacherous dragon that terrorized the surrounding cities. Just before she
reaches the pond, a man in glimmering silver armor rides up to her on a majestic white steed. He
calls out to her and asks why she weeps. The distraught girl warns him of the dragon of the pond,
begging him to flee before it is too late. The man, the mighty St. George, refuses her request just as
a thundering roar fills the air. Before their eyes, the fearsome dragon rears out of the water,

While it is likely that the dragon–slaying is merely an embellishment on St. George's true tale, what
are the limits of the fiction revolving around this legend? Did St. George receive credit for another
man's triumph? Did anybody ever slay the dragon in Silene, Libya (where St. George was said to
have slain the dragon)? Was there ever a dragon in Silene? Were there ever dragons anywhere in the
world? Tales of the mighty reptilian beasts known as Dragons can be found all over the world from
all throughout history. The origin of dragons is unknown, although there are legends that can be
traced to approximately 5,000 B.C. (Owens). These legends have appeared independently all over
the Earth, with variations of course, but still enough similarity to be clearly identified as the same
creatures. Although the modern world no longer fears dragons as the dangerous creatures lurking in
the hidden corners of the world, should their existence be dismissed entirely? The Earth has held
many equally monstrous creatures, from the 60 ft. shark Megalodon (Patton) to the 50 ft. snake
Titanoboa (Gowan) or even the recently discovered 130 ft. titanosaur (currently unnamed) (Frizell).
Compared to other creatures that have roamed the Earth, dragons may seem no less believable

Soft rotting flesh is their preferred food. Dragons will wait in ambush for hours until their prey

this initial attack fails and the target escapes, the Komodo will follow the victim around until the
poison from their bite (the Komodo is one of the only known poisonous lizards), coupled with the

their entire body weight in one sitting! Surprisingly, scientists have found that ten percent of an
adult Dragon's diet consists of young Komodo Dragons. Because of this, along with their 4 to 30

In this world, in the presence of a lie–consuming dragon, lies take the form of monsters. The size of
said monsters depend on the severity of the lie being told, and how badly the liar doesn't want to be
found out. But this doesn't apply to all dragons, however. Dragons come into existence to fulfill the
need or a strong wish of a human. A human who has seen all of their loved ones die and firmly
wishes for solace will bring about an immortal dragon. A human who has been trapped all their life
will bring about a dragon with powers of intangibility. It's not a hard concept to grasp, really.
About a year and a half ago, as I was walking from town to town, I came across a dragon egg that
later hatched into who I now know as Efina, a short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standing in the unusually silent and coffee shop, I examined the corpse laying in the middle of the

"Hmm..."
I must have been so lost in thought that I didn't notice when Susan Brande, the chief detective in the
area, walked in the room. Susan walks past the both of us and stares intently at the body. Her
partner, a younger girl by the name of Daira Reagan, happily follows, eyeing the body curiously as
well.
Susan's gaze on the body does not falter. "Brandon Miller, Age 24. Death by deliberate
strangulation," the older woman said plainly. "The red eyes and dark marks on his neck show that
much. And by the shape of the marks, he was most likely strangled with that pink tie that's hanging
from his neck." She looked at me and her expression turns gentle. "Joshua Trotwood, right? It's nice
to see you again."
Chief Detective Susan Brande has been in the force for at least 10 years. She's highly envied for her
great resilience, and her ability to be conspicuous when she wants to be. She is a child prodigy; the

Book Report On Becoming The Dragon By Alex Sapegin
Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sapegin, the first installment in a series called The Dragon Inside,
follows the story of a teenager named Andy who goes through a series of drastic life changes.
Before the events of the novel, Andy is struck by lightning on a class field trip. He survives the
strike but is sentenced to never cross paths with computers because of the electrical charges he gives
off causing computers to freeze and shut down. Even though Andy loves computer games, this
forces him to find alternatives for entertainment, such as learning to cook and even taking up
archery from a neighbor. He seemed to be doing well in his life until his sister gives him the task of
taking documents to their father's office.
Andy accidentally stumbles into the middle of a science experiment, and the results are "out of this
world". He is taken through a portal to the planet Ilanta, full of both magical creatures and other
humans, and little did he know that his skills in archery would need to come in handy for his
survival. While searching for a way home, Andy meets a number of characters (some human and
others not–so–human) who either want to help him or kill him. He ultimately has to turn himself
into a dragon in order to live, and it seems as though he was born to become one. ... Show more

Evolution Of The Komodo Dragon
Evolution of the Komodo Dragon Komodo Dragons are fierce creatures, capable of killing a man
with only one bite, but how did they come to be? I will be covering facts on this crazy creature, like
where it came from, body features, and it's ancestors. The Komodo dragon also known as the
Komodo Monitor, is a large species of lizards found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca,
Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. A member of the monitor lizard family Varanidae, it is the largest
living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 10 ft in rare cases and weighing up to
approximately 150 lb. Even though this creature sounds like a beast its bite is actually weaker than a
house cat! This is not a problem though for the Komodo has a lethal

Dragons : Mythological Creature Or Reality?
Dragons – mythological creature or reality? On a set of dry and volcanic islands off the coast of
Asia, the lines of dragon myth and reality are blurred. These Indonesian islands where temperatures
can soar to 95 degrees Fahrenheit and 70% humidity is the home to an apex predator with the size,
strength, and long, yellow forked tongue reminiscent of creatures of legendary tales (Freedman,
2008). The Komodo dragon is not just the world's largest lizard, it is also one the of deadliest lizards
on Earth (Freedman, 2008).

While male Komodo dragons are slightly larger than the females, both sexes having similar
appearances except for a slight difference in scale arrangement near the cloaca (Smithsonian's
National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute, 2017). They have four sturdy legs, clawed feet, and
long tails. Most impressive, is the Komodo dragon's powerful jaw which has over 60 curved,
serrated/jagged teeth, up to an inch long, that can tear through anything including bones
(Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute 2017). The jaw is also adapted to
handle rapid eating and the devouring of large chunks of prey. The jaw has several moveable joints
that allow its intramandibular hinge to open wide (Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation
Biology Institute 2017). Its stomach also expands to accommodate up to 80% of its body weight,
and the contents are vomited to lessen body weight when the lizard is threatened and needs to make
a rapid escape (Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute, 2017).
The Komodo Dragon is a carnivorous tertiary predator (Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation

Komodo dragons also scientifically known as Varanus Komodoensis are usually found in small
islands of indonesia. Komodo dragons share a common ancestor with dinosaurs, but do not descend
from them. Both komodo dragons and dinosaurs belong to the subclass called Diapsida (known to
exist around 300 million years ago) which is branched into two infraclasses: Archosauria and
Lepidosauria. Fossil records show that around 100 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period,
a species related to the present–day Varanidae appeared and reached Australia by about 15 million
years ago. From this species descended another lineage which differentiated into V. komodoensis
about 4 million years ago.
The Komodo dragon is the world's largest extant lizard at an average length of 2.6 m and an average
weight of 40–70 kg. The dragons have sharp, curved claws and serrated teeth with 4–5 replacement
teeth at each position. The serrations are mostly used to help dragon tear large prey into little pieces.
Pieces of meat from their meals get caught between their teeth and the decays. The decayed meats
pieces promotes the growth of several highly septic bacteria. The bacteria often cause the death of
the prey by infection so even if the prey has escaped initially, if it has been bitten, it may end up as a
Komodo's meal. Komodo dragons are resistant to these bacteria, so a bite from another dragon
would not cause death by infection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this is what we have to do to survive. We make our way through the crowd grabbing watches,
money, and anything we think is worth something. When we get to the fountain in the middle of the
square I scan the crowd for a familiar patch of red hair. Her red locks shine as Jane makes threads
her way through the morning crowd. "Why di–" I start as she grabs my wrist with an iron grip and

way we came as a dozen guards trotted past and Garnet slips into the alleyway opposite of us.

What Is The Significance Of Dragons In Western Culture

Eastern Legends, Folklore & Mythology
Dragons have an incredibly long history...pun intended. Unlike in western
Mythology ancient Asian dragons aren't fire breathing, princess kidnapping,
terrorizing creatures that only the bravest of knights of the round table can slay.
Nor do they eat people or attack villages and castles. In western culture the
dragon represents evil and darkness. These dragons usually have sharp teeth
muscular bodies and strong legs. They bring suffering to humankind and are a
symbol of fear and strength.

Dragons In J. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit
What does the word "dragon" mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the response
would be "unintelligent dangerous weapons of destruction". However, this is not the case in J.R.R
Tolkien's "The Hobbit", nor is it true for the early mythology of dragons. Instead, this modern
definition is replaced with one of, "greedy, intelligent beings with human characteristics". Hence, a
question arises as to why the image of dragons has been drastically downgraded throughout
literature? To answer this question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien's "The
Hobbit" in an attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will
partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of literature ... Show more content

Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to preserve the wonder
of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are illustrated when select stories have implemented new
components that have served as counter–productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which
relegates the true plot potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be
obstacles for the main hero to overcome, which is a stark contrast from the traditional dragons.
Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman (2002) puts
forth the belief that "fictional evil is more convincing and more frightening when people, not
dragons, are the true enemy" (pg. 100). In addition, another argument could be made in that dragons
such as Smaug will overshadow the main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to
simple plot obstacles, it allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot
accept either argument. Suggesting that "humanity" allows for more engaging villains is absurd,
considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of the greatest,
psychologically complicated, and utmost captivating villain in all of literature. Nonetheless, one
may argue that Tolkien's Smaug serves as the same purpose as a dragon in the Harry Potter series; a
plot obstacle that cause destruction. Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in
terms of characteristics of the dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter
happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas Smaug is
categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives, intelligence, and the threat
he poses to those who dare challenge

Analysis Of The Outsider By Mindy Mejia
Mindy Mejia writes an enthralling tale of a zookeeper named Meg and a Komodo dragon, Jutta,
under her care. While Mejia says the primary purpose of the novel was to tell the love story between
Meg and Jutta, the theme of being an outsider is heavily prevalent. Due to her childhood and
personal decisions, Meg has become an outsider who prefers spending time with dragons than with
other humans. In the end, Meg leaves the United States to travel halfway across the world to
Indonesia to work as the head researcher at a Komodo Dragon Wildlife Refuge. This reflects the
idea that some outsiders are unable to fit into society and thus have to forge their own path. Mejia
readily agrees that Meg is an outsider; she even goes so far to remark that she is an internal outsider.
An internal outsider is a person that does not try to fit in but instead excludes themselves from
others. This stems from her childhood, Mejia says, since as a child, Meg was taken to dog show
after dog show which prevented her from interacting with her peers. Due to this lack of interaction,
Meg never developed the personality skills to interact with others. This causes Meg to feel more and
more removed as she grows up. Meg remarks at one point that "everything was simpler [with Jutta],
away from the crazy lovers, the deadlines, and the media. She didn't want to think about any of that,
didn't want to deal with the stupid reception Chuck was planning or the hurt she'd seen in Antonio's
eyes" (132).

to learn to hunt and swim. Juvenile caimens stay with their parents for around a year and a half.
Once a juvenile reaches adult length, it is able to reproduce. If they survive long enough, they can
continue to grow until reaching a size that may exceed 2.4 meters. (a–z–animals.com; animal
diversity.ummz.umich.edu) Glass frogs have a translucent underbelly exposing the liver, heart, and
intestines. Scientists believe that this is some sort of camouflage. Glass frogs have excellent eyesight
which allows them to easily detect when prey is near. They are carnivorous–eating insects and
spiders. Their main predators are snakes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Piranhas are omnivorous and will eat almost anything that it can find. Its diet mainly consists of
snails, insects, fish, and aquatic plants. They will occasionally eat birds or larger mammals that fall
into the water. Piranhas are eaten by river dolphins, crocodiles, turtles, birds, larger fish, and humans
who hunt them for food. They are usually found in fast flowing rivers where there is enough food to
go around. Since piranhas live in large shoals, competition for food is fierce and feeding frenzies
can occur when there is blood in the water or when a shortage of food occurs. In April and May,
piranhas mate. They move, in pairs, to slower moving waters and prepare a nest. The female then
lays an average of 5000 eggs of which, usually 90 percent survive.

Spike Vs. Komodo Dragon

  • 1. Spike Vs. Komodo Dragon Once upon a time, there was an eagle, called King of the Sky, who lived in a cave on the side of a cliff. The eagle loved his kingdom very much. He was the protector of the land. The eagle was planning to face his cousin, Spike, because he was polluting the kingdom by throwing rubbish into the river. Spike was known for having a bad temper, and resolving issues by using violence. On the way to see Spike, the eagle met his friend Komodo dragon who was keen to join him to face Spike. The eagle decided to take two friends along to witness his meeting with Spike to make sure an agreement is achieved peacefully. The eagle would need to find one more friend to go with them to see Spike. One week into their journey, the eagle and Komodo dragon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stegosaurus told T–Rex that they were going to have a talk with Spike who was polluting the river. Stegosaurus asked, "Do you want to witness the talk with Spike?" T–Rex answered, "The trees in this forest are dying and the forest animals are losing their homes. Soon I will have no food here. I will come with you." The eagle now has three friends to come with him to see Spike. Two days later, they arrived at the Blue Mountains. In the middle of the mountains, they met Bison also known as King of the Mountains. Bison loved to run around on top of the mountains. The mountains gave him food, water and fresh air. The eagle, Komodo dragon, Stegosaurus and T–Rex were tired from their journey so they asked Bison for permission to rest on his mountains. Bison agreed and kindly gave the eagle a map to Spike's new hideout. The four friends later travelled to Greenfield and met Elephant. The map was confusing, so the four friends asked Elephant for help. Elephant cannot read so he brought them to meet James the police officer. James instructed, "You have to cross Whispering River to get there." The eagle asked, "Could you protect my family while I am gone?" Elephant and James replied, "Yes, of ... I caught you. Again! First with that Duskclan cat, and now Leafwatcher? What are you doing! You're going to tear this clan apart!" I growled, as I sheathed and unsheathed my claws. I've known about his foul actions since an apprentice, accidentally stumbling over one of his meetings with a Duskclan she–cat. It was a hope that he would change, as he had convinced me to keep quiet, but no longer would I. The truth needed to be told before he destroyed this clan. The much taller tom stared down at me, his amber eyes looking me over. "Wolfspirit." He said slowly, his eyes turning a cool shade, "You may think you know what's going on, but you don't know the half of it. Take my advice, and forget what has happened." A shiver ran down my spine as I straightened, portraying false confidence. "I won't let you get away with the this. Not again." I whispered. Glancing at his claws, I spied them already out. • 5. Theme Of Greed In The Hobbit Greed is a common, yet detrimental factor in society today. All around the world people experience this type of attribute, whether it is for power or for the simple concept of desiring more in life. In order to further this prevalent theme, Peter Jackson created the film The Hobbit–Desolation of Smaug, in 2013. In this film, he continued the adventure of Bilbo Baggins and the dwarves and set them off to reclaim their ancient dwarven city guarded by the dragon, Smaug. Throughout the entire movie, the characters face many tough obstacles, those being orcs, elves and most importantly the evil dragon. Those elves actually came to their rescue later on in the movie, proving their loyalty. Those noble elves were Tauriel and Legolas. Also, a major character in the movie was Gandalf, which was the powerful wizard. In the movie, he aided in their adventure by leading them to the proper trail while also providing them with many struggles they may encounter on the way. While all of the characters and setting play a key role in shaping the movie as a whole, the theme of greed is a much greater aspect throughout the film. Peter Jackson implements personification, symbolism, and foreshadowing in his movie in order to point his audience towards the bigger message, greed is the root of all evil. To provide his message with further reasoning, Jackson employed the rhetorical device of personification. This device is prevalent throughout the entire movie as he gives human characteristics to animals and also different species. By doing so he not only added another rhetorical device to his film but he most importantly, furthered his theme by showing how it is thought about by different characters in the movie, along with their own perspectives on the matter. For example, in the movie the dragon is a prime representation of greed. During one scene in the movie you see this characteristic come into play when all that is surrounding the dragon is gold and many treasures, far more than you could ever imagine. The dragon simply kills for treasure, collects treasure, and does nothing but lie upon it and prove his worth to those surrounding him. This technique showed the audience how characters and creatures in a certain film exhibit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Bearded Dragon For my report I will write about Pogona, otherwise referred to as the bearded dragon. These harmless reptiles are mostly found in Australia in ridged rocky regions. They enjoy climbing and can be found up on high rocks or on branches of trees. They are also typically found in dessert regions of Australia chilling on tree stumps and rocks. For pet dragon you will want a habitat that has a heat source on one side to keep it warm if needed and a small place to hide and climb on. They will also obviously need a shallow dish for food and water purposes. This reptile is quite the catch. Let me tell you about his appearance. Although he might look sharp and dangerous he is really nothing but a softy. All the "spikes" on his body are rubbery and not sharp at all. They have flat bodies with a row of "spikes" going down each side of the stomach. They are supported with 4 stubby legs that have 4 "toes" on each one. However, as I have come to find out through much research, unlike most lizards, bearded dragons will not make their tail fall off if threatened and ... As I read in the article, "Bearded Dragon Information & Facts" you can tell the age of your dragon by the length of their body! Here is a chart of how to tell how old the dragon is. Bearded dragons are omnivores meaning they need a balanced diet of meat and vegetables. Meat should make up about 80% of their diet. These could be things like crickets and meal worms. And the other 20% should be fruit and veggies such as kale, sweet potato, and peaches. For reproduction it is best to place one male in with 2–3 females. This will lower the rate of fighting compared to a one on one. Then the female will typically make a burrow 6–8 in. deep and lay her eggs there. The eggs will hatch about 60–70 days ... • 9. A Summary On The Book ' Leonidas ' Essay Chapter One Leonidas needed a way to die. He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid, but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet–proof skin and inherent dragon healing powers. He'd tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to heal them. He could keep re–cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds would heal, and he'd wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer while his blood regenerated. It was fucking hard to kill a dragon. He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave–ti was a pocket of mountain he'd carved out over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of his days. At least he'd made it to his tomb before he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern's savage need to take her by force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child. A shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He'd flown away from the keep as fast as he could, then he'd thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his beast inside. His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic cage he'd summoned. The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind. He stopped making his facial expression and combed his dark black hair. His eyes glowed and teared as he moved his chapped lips. "He was a great father, master, even leader." sniffled Mada Mada. The rain was dripping on top of the dark grey tombstone. The thunder was striking in every direction, but no one moved an inch. "Here lies H.B. Mada, ruthless teaching of many skills such as archery, stealth, strength, and heart." read Hanzi. A dark green feather with accents of black every so often, laid on top of the stone. Mada's childhood name Sparrow, symbolizing hope and goodwill. He walked away after later to be found in the dojo. It was small, but filled with pride robes, armor, and weapons everywhere. It was narrow but empty, short pillars rose towards the roof barely touching. The light brown wood made up the walls and roof. In the middle of the dojo a big metallic bell, used for ringing before fights, its silver exterior shone bright, lighting the entire dojo. In the corner barely glowing a candle with the scent of an apple, Mada's favorite scent. Thud! Thud! Thud! "Come in Hanzi." Mada mumbled as he was meditating in front of a painting of two dragons. Hanzi questioned, "How could you tell I was coming?" "Father," responded Mada Mada, "he taught us well, very well." He grunted, "Why are you here?" "Our battle tonight..." she spoke. I'll do it!' Reggie stared at the wall and with a hesitant voice announced, "Dragon, Dragon!" The wall remained the same. "Why won't it work?" questioned Reggie. "I'll try it. ssss, ssss!" answered Hector. The wall suddenly formed a door that opened up to a room that was spacious and a young teen who looked to be about 15 was standing in the room calmly. Hector ran towards Reggie and and shouted, "What are we going to do?" Just as Hector shouted those words an eagle flew into the chamber and swooped down with a long, sharp sword in it's claws. The bird dropped the sword next to Hector and rushed out of the chamber. I can use the sword to kill the beast! Hector tossed the diary to Reggie and picked up the sword. He ran to the komodo dragon to destroy it once and for all. The komodo dragon opened it's mouth, just as Hector stabbed the sword into the roof of it's mouth. He held it there for a few seconds as the komodo dragon suddenly dropped to the floor and closed it's eyes. "It's dead!" exclaimed Hector. "Yes you did it!" shouted Reggie with an excited tone as he ran over to Hector. "Well, you've killed the dragon, but you still haven't destroyed something that even more powerful. • 15. Lizard Adaptations Josiah Lizards The lizard is a fascinating creature. Lizards vary in size, shape, ability, dietary needs, habitat, and mating. For instance, the Komodo dragon is bigger than a gecko, needs more food to eat, and eats a different source of food. The iguana will live near the water, while a ruin lizard will live in grassy fields, parks, or gardens. Nonetheless all these animals are still lizards. It is intriguing to learn about the habitats, predators, and characteristics of lizards. Lizards have different habitats some choose sunny places to put their homes, while others will live in shady spots. Then there are the lizards that live in the dessert where it is nice and hot, but they live under shelving or loose rocks because they need some protection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most lizards that live in the shade will have smooth and soft skin. This will help the lizard crawl through tight spots. If the lizard is a chameleon then it will have a specialized tail and feet. Their tail is a prehensile tail, this means that they can use their tail to curl around a branch; their feet are also special because they can use them to grip tightly to a branch. Chameleons live in trees, but they do not have soft skin; they have hard skin and horns for protection, along with their ability to camouflage (Bishop, 22, 26). The lizard is not friends with everybody. There are animals that when they see a lizard they do not see the cute or cool animal that we see; they see a snack, or dinner depending on the animal. These animals consist of birds, snakes, or even other lizards (Knopf, 487–580). When a lizard notices a snake slithering through the ground, it most likely will not try to fight it. Now that is depending on the size of the snake and the lizard. Obviously, if the lizard is a lot bigger than the snake then it will fight, or the snake will just turn away. If the snake is bigger than the lizard, then most likely the lizard will dash away or climb up a tree. Some lizards will actually stand still, so that way they are not noticed by the snake. • 17. The History Of Dragons It's often for one to be confused about the mythical creature that was (and still is) depicted in art forms. No one is certain of this creature, and it's hard to make theories on them. The dragon is still a relevant topic to this day and is often said to be seen. People try to connect the dragon to creatures in our current world. Dragons were used to depict man's fear in animals, but to understand the relations of dragons to present day reality a person must know how others interpret them with theories. In ancient times, dragons were told by man in different ways. This would normally vary depending on religion. Dragons were shown with physical features of animals that were feared in the common man. Some were depicted with lion heads, serpent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, the dragon is a subject to theories. It wasn't until 1841 that English scientist Richard Owens suggested that the group of "newly discovered animals be called "dinosaurs," which literally means terrible lizards. Throughout the next few decades, the first artist depictions of dinosaurs were actually comical when compared to what we can scientifically discern today. How then, do pottery, linens, cave paintings, and written descriptions of "dragons" from 2,000 to 4,000 years ago depict dinosaurs better than what science could muster in the mid–1800's?" (History of Dragons). Scientist might be able to prove the existence of dragons to be false, but their reality in our modern day life is real. Lizards such a the komodo dragon are an example. As said, they grow to be very large. In fact, many people to this day believe that the dragons still exists. "The belief in dragons was based not just in legend but also in hard evidence – or so it seemed. For millennia no one knew what to make of the giant bones that were occasionally unearthed around the globe, and dragons seemed a logical choice for people who had no knowledge of dinosaurs." (Radford 4). However, it will take some looking to find solid proof of dragons, that doesn't mean they do or do not exist. Many people have their own beliefs on what they do and don't ... • 21. How To Train Your Dragon Analysis 'How To Train Your Dragon', a 2010 film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, uses the film codes to enhance the audience's understanding of the film. 'How To Train Your Dragon' tells the tale of a hapless young Viking named Hiccup, who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Together, they teach the island of Berk about acceptance and overcoming differences. While producing the directors used the film codes to add interest and understanding to the film, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the film. The character code allows to better understand the personality of and have a deeper connection with the characters. Representational code benefits the audience by letting them decipher what the character represents. Meanwhile, the technical code uses film–making equipment to give more information about the characters, scenes and the film in its entirety. The character code enables the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters. The character code enables the audience to better understand the characters by offering insight into the personalities of the characters. The character code requires the audience to analyse the character's speech to better understand the character's personality, actions and behaviour. This is done through the examination of the accent, tone, pitch, pace and volume of the character/s speaking. This is evident in the Hiccup Initiation Ceremony Confession Scene in which Hiccup spits out, "I'm not one of them.". He states this loudly, in a low pitch, slowly spitting out the words in a chilling manner with a cold and harsh tone. Therefore, the audience interprets this as Hiccup displaying himself as being different to the other Vikings in the manner of behaving in an amiable fashion towards dragons. The audience subsequently comes to the conclusion that Hiccup has a compassionate, understanding and altruistic personality, denoting his willingness to overcome bias and promote difference. The character code is also apparent in the Opening Scene where Stoick harshly declares, "What are you doing out? Get inside!". Stoick speedily demanded this thunderingly, in a low pitch with an accusing and demanding tone. As a result of this, the audience understands Stoick to be tough, powerful ... They are much like the great reptiles which inhabited the earth long before man is supposed to have appeared on earth. Dragons were generally evil and destructive. Every country had them in its mythology." (Knox, Wilson, "Dragon," The World Book Encyclopedia, 1973) Dragons are told in almost every culture known to man. Descriptions of the Dragon have been written, drawn, and told in culture that could have never met. From the North American Native tribes to the great civilization of China, Dragons have been told. Why is that? Through my research on this, I have concluded many theories, but all these theories still don't answer my question. In order to get the answer to my question, we will have to re–explore all my research. The first civilization to have recorded a dragon like creature is the ancient Assyria in form of a poem called "Epic of Gilgamesh". In this poem, Enkidu and Gilgamesh goes to slay a monster called Humbaba. Humbaba is describe to have scale–like skin, horns, a serpent tail, and was able to breath fire. This was around 2100 BC and this could have been the starting point of myths surrounding Dragons in the middle east. However, a little after this time, a great civilization had brewed up north of ancient Assyria. We known them as the Greeks, in which surrounded themselves in mythology, that their myths can still be told today. In fact, one of the Greeks most popular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Komodo dragons share a common ancestor with dinosaurs, but do not descend from them. Both komodo dragons and dinosaurs belong to the subclass called Diapsida (known to exist around 300 million years ago) which is branched into two infraclasses: Archosauria and Lepidosauria. Fossil records show that around 100 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, a species related to the present–day Varanidae appeared and reached Australia by about 15 million years ago. From this species descended another lineage which differentiated into V. komodoensis about 4 million years ago. The Komodo dragon is the world's largest extant lizard at an average length of 2.6 m and an average weight of 40–70 kg. The dragons have sharp, curved claws and serrated teeth with 4–5 replacement teeth at each position. The serrations are mostly used to help dragon tear large prey into little pieces. Pieces of meat from their meals get caught between their teeth and the decays. The decayed meats pieces promotes the growth of several highly septic bacteria. The bacteria often cause the death of the prey by infection so even if the prey has escaped initially, if it has been bitten, it may end up as a Komodo's meal. In the traditional Chinese believes there are four major dragon kings which represents the four major seas; the East sea cor responding to the East China Sea, the south sea corresponding to the South China Sea, The west sea corresponding to the Indian Ocean and beyond, and The North Sea corresponding to lake Baikal. • 64. Dragons In J. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit What does the word "dragon" mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the response would be "unintelligent dangerous weapons of destruction". However, this is not the case in J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit", nor is it true for the early mythology of dragons. Instead, this modern definition is replaced with one of, "greedy, intelligent beings with human characteristics". Hence, a question arises as to why the image of dragons has been drastically downgraded throughout literature? To answer this question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien's "The Hobbit" in an attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of literature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to preserve the wonder of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are illustrated when select stories have implemented new components that have served as counter–productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which relegates the true plot potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be obstacles for the main hero to overcome, which is a stark contrast from the traditional dragons. Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman (2002) puts forth the belief that "fictional evil is more convincing and more frightening when people, not dragons, are the true enemy" (pg. 100). In addition, another argument could be made in that dragons such as Smaug will overshadow the main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to simple plot obstacles, it allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot accept either argument. Suggesting that "humanity" allows for more engaging villains is absurd, considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of the greatest, psychologically complicated, and utmost captivating villain in all of literature. Nonetheless, one may argue that Tolkien's Smaug serves as the same purpose as a dragon in the Harry Potter series; a plot obstacle that cause destruction. Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in terms of characteristics of the dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas Smaug is categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives, intelligence, and the threat he poses to those who dare challenge ... Mom decided it was time we take a break. So my mom and I went downstairs and each had a bowl of pretzels and a glass of orange juice, boy was I hungry! We went back upstairs and immediately got back to work. Mom couldn 't get inside the closet to the hard–to–reach places, but sadly I could. I plopped myself inside my mom 's dark and dusty closet. • 74. Analysis Of The Outsider By Mindy Mejia Mindy Mejia writes an enthralling tale of a zookeeper named Meg and a Komodo dragon, Jutta, under her care. While Mejia says the primary purpose of the novel was to tell the love story between Meg and Jutta, the theme of being an outsider is heavily prevalent. Due to her childhood and personal decisions, Meg has become an outsider who prefers spending time with dragons than with other humans. In the end, Meg leaves the United States to travel halfway across the world to Indonesia to work as the head researcher at a Komodo Dragon Wildlife Refuge. This reflects the idea that some outsiders are unable to fit into society and thus have to forge their own path. Mejia readily agrees that Meg is an outsider; she even goes so far to remark that she is an internal outsider. An internal outsider is a person that does not try to fit in but instead excludes themselves from others. This stems from her childhood, Mejia says, since as a child, Meg was taken to dog show after dog show which prevented her from interacting with her peers. Due to this lack of interaction, Meg never developed the personality skills to interact with others. This causes Meg to feel more and more removed as she grows up. Meg remarks at one point that "everything was simpler [with Jutta], away from the crazy lovers, the deadlines, and the media. She didn't want to think about any of that, didn't want to deal with the stupid reception Chuck was planning or the hurt she'd seen in Antonio's eyes" (132). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their diet consists of fish, insects, birds, and small mammals and reptiles. Jaguars and humans are the only predators of caimans. Females build large nests and lay anywhere from 10 to 50 eggs which hatch in about six weeks. The temperature determines the gender of the babies. The mother then takes her young to a shallow pool to learn to hunt and swim. Juvenile caimens stay with their parents for around a year and a half. Once a juvenile reaches adult length, it is able to reproduce. If they survive long enough, they can continue to grow until reaching a size that may exceed 2.4 meters.
