Centre Name and Number:
York College 48357
Student Name and Unique Learner Number: Harry Allinson 365716
Project proposal title and date: Rabbit Hole Justice
Main area of activity: Garden/House for filming.
Rationale:
Within the past 2 years, I have made multiple animations, films, magazines and podcasts.
Collectively I have improved my skills within each of these mediums to a personally desirable
degree and I am excited to delve deeper into the realm of creative media to expand my
understanding in my industry, to strengthen my career path.
My audio production skills greatened through the years as I learnt to harvest the tool such as
distortion, highpass, reverb and compression within Garageband and Adobe Premier Pro. To
Compliment a better audio experience alongside my film products and to formulate a further eerie
atmospheric on my podcasts for a more emotionally emphasised entertainment for my audience.
Once I learnt the consequences of the effects, I began to try and understand contextualised
implementation of audio. Whereby I would start to think about when and where I should manipulate
a sound to create a positive or negative tone for the situation. Balancing out minimalism and
maximalism of sound engineering within bodies of my work was useful because like a building if it
isn’t well structured it can fall apart with is exactly how some of my earlier products looked and
sounded as they either felt overdone, underdone or messy. Which is why I decided to presently
develop a more mindful approach to work so that there is harmony between different elements
within production.
Though I should have used all sound effects to fit the style of aesthetic, the Abandoned House
podcast story, that I made last year, was a good example of using sounds in the appropriate
places to elevate the intensity that translated in pivotal points within the storyline. This was good
because the layout of audio effects and alterations were thought out instead of random and out of
place, which made for a positive result.
3 years ago, I was on the year 2 equivalent to this level 3 creative media courses. However, the
level 2 course wasn’t inclusive of film within its proposed curriculum unfortunately. This didn’t pose
a problem as I was still experimenting with software's such as Sony Vegas Pro, iMovie, After
Effects and Photoshop prior to then, even in the final year of high school. My knowledgeable of
these software's gave me more momentum to start producing my own work for college projects
and with comfort when using the tools hence I had already used them create other experimental
works out of before college for fun.
I was always highly interested in film and how it was all put together to create various genres of
entertainment. Which was why at the start of last year I decided to make a music video because
since I hadn’t yet committed to the production of a film at that point, which was why I wanted to see
if film making would be something I could get into. From this, I remember I began researching
various production techniques such as different camera angles and movements to see which ones
would be best fit for my music video because I wanted the shots to synergies with the tone of the
gritty video. After creating the music video, I thought it was good for a first try but I wanted to look
at the flaws of that video and explore other areas of film that could be of interest because I wanted
to expand my understanding of film as I wanted that to be more of a strong point. From that point
on, film has been the main media that I want to go into, which has let me to this final major project
where I will be pursuing film.
I will have learnt from the mistakes and flaws of my other products like getting the right ISO and
aperture from camera, so the raw videos aren’t too grainy or too shallow depth of field background

for what I’m going for (overly blurred background). I will aim to make sure all my camera shots are
in focus because when I produced my music video, most the clips were focused to a good
standard but even having a few shots of that where it’s not well focused feels visually unsatisfying.
Unless I was obviously trying to produce a film with an unorthodox blurriness to convey a meaning
or symbol, I would preferably want all the video clips to have the same flowing focus as each other
because it looks best that way. Similarly, to the camera settings, I will have to make all the camera
shots relate to the correlative meaning of that scene mood. For example, if I want to convey a
sense of dominance, I could use a low angle mid shot or if I want to create a visual feeling of
insecurity, I can use a crane/high angle shot to make me look smaller. And to make these shots
stand out to create a more emotionally persuadable shot, I can use visually pleasing shots leading
up and/or use consistent shots before to create a juxtaposed shot of the story.
Project Concept:
The concept of my project is a short fantasy film. Whereby a man is on the run after he has been
set up and needs to get to a safe place before he is arrested. However, what he doesn’t know is
that there would be a mystical plant where his hide out is that would transport him into a different
dimension. This new dimension would then allow him to travel back in time, before he got set up
so he can get rid of the false evidence against him so that he isn’t sent to be locked up again like
the previous time.
Although this character has a chance to get rid of the false evidence, he will need to act fast and
tactically to finesse the men who are trying to put crimes on him. But in doing so, failing the task
will make him a wanted man on the run again, yet succeeding will allow him to be a free man
without the burden of a bounty on his head.
There may be a multitude of wormholes depending on the outcome of whether I decided that I
want him to go on the run again or venture as a free man.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
An important factor that I will need to frequently and relevantly involve when evaluating my work
would be that recording footage and getting piers involved to help me was an impossible task
because of the restrictions of lockdowns that really limited my potential of using certain locations
that would be more desirable to use for my filming, especially since I’m delving into the fantasy
genre. I will need to critically evaluate my project with the understanding of the limited resources I
had due to the governmental lockdowns.
Since in the past, I managed to be less critical than I should’ve been in terms of producing analysis
of specified negatives within my work that I need to improve on, I will plan to evaluate in an orderly
fashion so I can get all the essential evaluations down in a PowerPoint. I will do this by laying out
multiple questions of analysis thus allowing an easier platform for me to not miss out any
information as I will clearly have templates that I can bounce my ideas off to form my evaluation of
the different elements that are used to produce my work.
I will also be carrying out an ongoing evaluation of my work to keep record of how all my work is
put together and the lead up to it. I will note key researched influences and the trials and errors of
my planning to get to where I got. I will try being as raw as possible so that I can have more to say
in the journal and so that I can display the hardships and what worked. With this and the general
evaluation, I will be continuously screenshotting any researched products and the stages of my
own postproduction for the journal and later evaluation.
This section of projects is something I regard as highly important as it’s the pivotal moment as I
reflect and evaluate my work so I can move forward with my career learning from what I had done
within the time I had with the project. Personally, I’m hoping to learn from the production
techniques primarily since I would love to spend even more time shooting videos as it’s something
that needs to be done smoothly as you must navigate around an environment whilst recording with
the correct camera settings which, most the time, if executed wrong can’t be revert in
postproduction. So that is the extent of something I could be thinking about moving forward from
this exhibition after my evaluation as I will most likely go to university.

Fmp proposal 2020

  • 1. Proposal 1 Centre Name and Number: York College 48357 Student Name and Unique Learner Number: Harry Allinson 365716 Project proposal title and date: Rabbit Hole Justice Main area of activity: Garden/House for filming. Rationale: Within the past 2 years, I have made multiple animations, films, magazines and podcasts. Collectively I have improved my skills within each of these mediums to a personally desirable degree and I am excited to delve deeper into the realm of creative media to expand my understanding in my industry, to strengthen my career path. My audio production skills greatened through the years as I learnt to harvest the tool such as distortion, highpass, reverb and compression within Garageband and Adobe Premier Pro. To Compliment a better audio experience alongside my film products and to formulate a further eerie atmospheric on my podcasts for a more emotionally emphasised entertainment for my audience. Once I learnt the consequences of the effects, I began to try and understand contextualised implementation of audio. Whereby I would start to think about when and where I should manipulate a sound to create a positive or negative tone for the situation. Balancing out minimalism and maximalism of sound engineering within bodies of my work was useful because like a building if it isn’t well structured it can fall apart with is exactly how some of my earlier products looked and sounded as they either felt overdone, underdone or messy. Which is why I decided to presently develop a more mindful approach to work so that there is harmony between different elements within production. Though I should have used all sound effects to fit the style of aesthetic, the Abandoned House podcast story, that I made last year, was a good example of using sounds in the appropriate places to elevate the intensity that translated in pivotal points within the storyline. This was good because the layout of audio effects and alterations were thought out instead of random and out of place, which made for a positive result. 3 years ago, I was on the year 2 equivalent to this level 3 creative media courses. However, the level 2 course wasn’t inclusive of film within its proposed curriculum unfortunately. This didn’t pose a problem as I was still experimenting with software's such as Sony Vegas Pro, iMovie, After Effects and Photoshop prior to then, even in the final year of high school. My knowledgeable of these software's gave me more momentum to start producing my own work for college projects and with comfort when using the tools hence I had already used them create other experimental works out of before college for fun. I was always highly interested in film and how it was all put together to create various genres of entertainment. Which was why at the start of last year I decided to make a music video because since I hadn’t yet committed to the production of a film at that point, which was why I wanted to see if film making would be something I could get into. From this, I remember I began researching various production techniques such as different camera angles and movements to see which ones would be best fit for my music video because I wanted the shots to synergies with the tone of the gritty video. After creating the music video, I thought it was good for a first try but I wanted to look at the flaws of that video and explore other areas of film that could be of interest because I wanted to expand my understanding of film as I wanted that to be more of a strong point. From that point on, film has been the main media that I want to go into, which has let me to this final major project where I will be pursuing film. I will have learnt from the mistakes and flaws of my other products like getting the right ISO and aperture from camera, so the raw videos aren’t too grainy or too shallow depth of field background
  • 2. Proposal 2 for what I’m going for (overly blurred background). I will aim to make sure all my camera shots are in focus because when I produced my music video, most the clips were focused to a good standard but even having a few shots of that where it’s not well focused feels visually unsatisfying. Unless I was obviously trying to produce a film with an unorthodox blurriness to convey a meaning or symbol, I would preferably want all the video clips to have the same flowing focus as each other because it looks best that way. Similarly, to the camera settings, I will have to make all the camera shots relate to the correlative meaning of that scene mood. For example, if I want to convey a sense of dominance, I could use a low angle mid shot or if I want to create a visual feeling of insecurity, I can use a crane/high angle shot to make me look smaller. And to make these shots stand out to create a more emotionally persuadable shot, I can use visually pleasing shots leading up and/or use consistent shots before to create a juxtaposed shot of the story. Project Concept: The concept of my project is a short fantasy film. Whereby a man is on the run after he has been set up and needs to get to a safe place before he is arrested. However, what he doesn’t know is that there would be a mystical plant where his hide out is that would transport him into a different dimension. This new dimension would then allow him to travel back in time, before he got set up so he can get rid of the false evidence against him so that he isn’t sent to be locked up again like the previous time. Although this character has a chance to get rid of the false evidence, he will need to act fast and tactically to finesse the men who are trying to put crimes on him. But in doing so, failing the task will make him a wanted man on the run again, yet succeeding will allow him to be a free man without the burden of a bounty on his head. There may be a multitude of wormholes depending on the outcome of whether I decided that I want him to go on the run again or venture as a free man. How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: An important factor that I will need to frequently and relevantly involve when evaluating my work would be that recording footage and getting piers involved to help me was an impossible task because of the restrictions of lockdowns that really limited my potential of using certain locations that would be more desirable to use for my filming, especially since I’m delving into the fantasy genre. I will need to critically evaluate my project with the understanding of the limited resources I had due to the governmental lockdowns. Since in the past, I managed to be less critical than I should’ve been in terms of producing analysis of specified negatives within my work that I need to improve on, I will plan to evaluate in an orderly fashion so I can get all the essential evaluations down in a PowerPoint. I will do this by laying out multiple questions of analysis thus allowing an easier platform for me to not miss out any information as I will clearly have templates that I can bounce my ideas off to form my evaluation of the different elements that are used to produce my work. I will also be carrying out an ongoing evaluation of my work to keep record of how all my work is put together and the lead up to it. I will note key researched influences and the trials and errors of my planning to get to where I got. I will try being as raw as possible so that I can have more to say in the journal and so that I can display the hardships and what worked. With this and the general evaluation, I will be continuously screenshotting any researched products and the stages of my own postproduction for the journal and later evaluation. This section of projects is something I regard as highly important as it’s the pivotal moment as I reflect and evaluate my work so I can move forward with my career learning from what I had done within the time I had with the project. Personally, I’m hoping to learn from the production techniques primarily since I would love to spend even more time shooting videos as it’s something that needs to be done smoothly as you must navigate around an environment whilst recording with the correct camera settings which, most the time, if executed wrong can’t be revert in postproduction. So that is the extent of something I could be thinking about moving forward from this exhibition after my evaluation as I will most likely go to university.
