Fear Is Bad
Bad and Good at the Same Time
Fear, the only emotion in life that is fun and not fun at the same time to experience. This is what
makes it so interesting to mankind. To no surprise, anything that can induce this emotion is able to
sell, and sell quickly at that. Although you don't need to pay to experience this feeling, being that
life is scary all on its own, many people do. Roller coasters, scary stories, and horror based video
games are all popular examples of things people pay to go through. A trend of fear in life and
literature have come as a result of this common interest, combined with the natural events of
everyday life. Literature is a wonderful medium of delivering fear. From Gothic stories to science
fiction, fear has embraced

Fear In The Alchemist
Along the path the life we are going to face obstacles, obstacles that we might not able to surpass
but as Paulo Coehlo once said: "The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight".
Fear can be a positive and negative feeling depending on the situation, it can protect you from evil
and it can block your path to success. Fear is defined as a "distressing emotion aroused by
impending danger, evil, pain, etc" (dictionary.com) . The Alchemist follows the story of a young
Andalusian shepherd, Santiago, in his journey to Egyptian pyramids in the search of his Personal
Legend and treasure, after having a recurring dream of finding treasure there. Santiago deals with
different situations where his heart and mind are invaded by ... Show more content on

Positive as in self defense mechanism, and negative as being the number one universal killer of
dreams. The negative type of fear is present throughout the entire novel as Santiago's biggest
obstacle to overcome in order for him to achieve his goals. Fear can be the destructor of our most
beloved dreams, and can make us quit our dreams in the blink of an eye, most of the time because of

Fear Is Our Fear The Killer
Is our Fear the Killer? On the subject, such as terrorism, many aren't fully aware of why human
beings that walk the same earth as us produce such violence. In the article it stated that "they want
you to be full of fear. Of them. All the time" (Lamotte 1). This one line suggests that the killers
enjoy the fear, but it is also stated that they, in fact, might be the ones in this state of mind. Granting
that they are indeed in fear means that they possibly aren't in a full state of mind. Even more, "fear is
a complex psychophysiological emotional experience that results in alterations in mood,
temperament, motivation, and personality" (Lamotte 2). With this being said, the author is trying to
get across to us the fact that fear is our issue,

Fear Of Fear Essay
Fear is the number one obstacle everyone must overcome at some point in their life. When the word
fear is brought up I like to think of past situations that I experienced. There are many different
methods used to conquer and learn from our fears such and exposure therapy, having a growth
mindset, and thinking positive. For example, when I was younger fear was my worst enemy, School
was the main reason that caused my fear. My fear of failure was my biggest obstacle growing up so I
used that as a method to learn from my fears.
In the Ted talk "Smash Fear, Learn Anything" Tim Ferris talks about having a growth mindset, when
Ferris was younger he moved to japan not knowing nothing. Ferris first day of school in japan was

It came to the point where I thought to myself that I was not going to get my work done on time. So,
I decided to change my mindset and think to myself that I can finish the task at hand and just think
positive over all. Allowing me to conquer my fear of failure and learn from my mistake, developing
a growth mindset.
For example, in the passage class act it tells us of a man's experience of how he acquired the act of
fearlessness. In the passage they talk about the man facing many challenges. One of them being
facing fear head on. and using that to conquer fear its self even by looking at your worst fear head
on. As a personal experience I realized that facing fear head on a one of the best methods used to
conquer fear its self. Another good example used to conquer fear is presented in the passage "Ten
Ways We Get the Odds Wrong" in the passage it goes on to tell the reader of many person
challenges different people faced that caused them to overcome their personal fears. Such as "we
fear cancer but not heart disease" in that passage they say, "things build up slowly but are very hard
for us to see" when I hear that I like to think of that as a way used to conquer our fears by thinking
of it as a way of letting our fears just pile up to the point where we become blind of them. leading us
to just forget about them and learning to move on kind of like a growth mindset. Another good part
from the book ten ways we get the odds wrong is "we should fear, Fear

The Fear Of Fear In Arthur Miller's The Crucible
"The enemy is fear. We think it is hate; but, it is fear" (Gandhi). While this may be true, what may be
a more powerful driver in our lives are the lengths we take to avoid things we fear. The society of
Salem that Arthur Miller creates in The Crucible shows how fear can slowly lead to panic and
eventually break down civilized behavior. The Salem witch trials occurred in Massachusetts
between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft otherwise
known as "the Devil's magic." To what degree can we attribute the events of the Salem Witch Trials
as portrayed in The Crucible to fear?
Fear is an emotional response caused by a threat, which causes a change in the brain and organ
function, as well as behavior. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being in nature can also reduce fear because it increases pleasant feelings. Those feelings reduce
blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension and stress hormones. Talking with a therapist is another
way to deal with fear. (Towey)
In The Crucible, Miller portrays the people of Salem as panicked and scared of witchcraft. The
citizens of Salem accuse people of practicing witchcraft to deal with their fear of evil. They need
solid proof to back up accusations of others, and they need to clear their own names as well. The
citizens randomly start demanding that "they saw...with the Devil", and that "they saw...with the
Devil" (45). These one–sided reasons for their fears shows how truly awful their minds become.
People start accusing their friends, neighbors, and even their own family in order to clear their
name. They try to demonstrate that this witchery is real, and verify that they are not crazy. What it
really does is show how fear is setting in, and how they have actually accepted these lies as the truth
just to get out of the death penalty.
"Hale: Did you call the Devil last night?
Abigail: I never called him!
Parris: She called the Devil?
Abigail: I didn't see no Devil.
Hale: You cannot evade me" (40). Abigail Williams and John Proctor are ex–lovers. We realize in
the first act of The Crucible that the two of them had an affair. Abigail was the John Proctor's
servant, and ever since the very intense affair, Abigail began to be very committed to John.

Fear In Frankenstein
The fear of the inner monster is scary, overwhelming feeling. We keep it hidden inside of us for
personal reasons. My inner monster is the fear of not knowing what is next in life. It creeps me out
to just think that I don't know what my next move will be or how it will turn out to be. The terror of
not knowing what might be my next chapter in life makes me feel nauseous. I'm the type of person
who likes to have everything in my life planned. From one thing to another, I consider myself to be
a proficient. Every Time I'm put in a situation where I'm supposed to keep moving on and can't
figure out what my next move will be in life, I get anxious and start to panic. Then, out of the
sudden my inner monster starts to hit me. I get bothered

Fears In Stephen King : The Fear Of Horror
When you think of fear, what do you think of? Do you think of something you are absolutely
terrified of and do not want to think about or something else. Fear is programmed in your brain as
something you want to stay away from for safety. Like when we touched a hot pan and burned
ourselves now we will not do that again for fear of being burned. Mr.King states three claims that
we go to horror movies to have fun and that we go to feel normal and the last one That we go to face
our fears but is that really true?
For the fun of the massacre, That's a reason we go to horror movies. We go to see the things that we
would think could never happen to us but you want to know what they are like. In the grim story

In this story "The frog king" did not have a horror element but did convey the point of feeling
normal. The story itself was like a spinoff of the princess and the frog or vice versa. But the plot was
that their was a princess and she made a promise with a frog to get her ball back from the bottom of
a well. Since she rescued the frog from the well he turned into a prince. Throughout the story the
princes keeps saying how she was disgusted by the frog. Stephen king said "Fred Jackson as the
horrible melting woman in Die, Monster, Die confirms that no matter how far we may be removed
from the beauty of Robert Redford or Diana Ross, we are still light years from true ugliness." So
through this quote he tells us that comparing ourselves to his characters we can feel like celebrities.
We can compare ourselves to the frog and make ourselves feel better about the way we look.
Now lastly there is the third reason that we go to face their fears. I believe that we have fears for a
reason and that people do not just face them. The definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused
by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. So knowing
this fact why would you want to go against something programmed in your brain to stay away from
because it's a threat. Like when you were a kid and you touched a hot pan and burned yourself now
you know not to touch it again for the fear of being burned again. In

Fear Essay: Declaration Of Independence Of Fear
Declaration Of Independence Of Fear
When in the course of a human's life it becomes necessary to break free from certain destructive
behaviors and attitudes, it is beneficial to both the individual and to mankind to specify the
grievances which impel them to take such an action. By making this public statement, we hope to
strengthen our own resolution.
The emotion of which we speak of is fear. Like other emotions, Fear serves a useful purpose. But
when given a little power, Fear quickly becomes a sensualist for power. As it becomes more
powerful, it morphs into a monstrous being and takes over a person's life. Some may not know what
they are afraid of yet, but everyone is afraid of something big or small. It can be something as small

The Allure of Fear
The Allure of Fear
Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to
cause pain, or a threat(Websters Dictionary).Fear is something that our lives have adapted to rarely
use as our ancient predecessors have.In our day and age the concept of fear comes through the stress
of work. We humans no longer fear a cold nor do we fear storms as our houses protect us and on
average our life spans are longer as old in the Paleolithic was 33 while currently it is 71.5(Wikipedia
Life Expectancy). Why then is our fear so extensive that it can make us freeze up? "The answer is
our legacy of ancient fears, the result of having spent millions of years running from predators. Our
fear response is more influenced by the ancient species we struggled to escape than any modern
challenges."(The evolutionary legacy of having been prey.By Rob Dunn) This is one of the
statements about human life. If this is so how do we develop from terror to finding fear fun?
We were not born with guns in our hands or clothes on our bodies. Our most ancient ancestors had
to run for most of their lives as even a hungry Komodo dragon could eat them without much of a
fight. This gave our ancestors an almost feral fear, making them perceptive to any noise as ignorance
of the noise could spell death. This fear wired the brains of every animal for the flight or fight
response. The extended duration of this state made the wiring almost permanent. However it seems

Response To Fear
Everyone has experienced fear, at least once in his or her life. When facing fear, people are forced to
decide if they will fight their fears or flee them. This response can cause some people to enjoy fear,
while others do not. In her interview, Dr.Kerr discusses the brain's response to fear. A few people
revel in fear, while others do not. It is much less common to believe that people would take joy in
fear, however; having been found that, "the natural high from the fight–or–flight response can make
one feel wonderful." As a result of fear causing one to feel tremendous, they also savor the high of
the fight–or–flight. Fear goers response to the natural high of fight–or–flight, is what makes them
enjoy fear. Also, the fear goers responses, reveal one way they dote on fear. In addition to enjoying
the high, a mass of people also " enjoy frightening situations considering, it leaves them with a sense
of confidence after it is over." People are fond of fear just for the simple fact that after they face it,
they suddenly have more confidence afterwards. There are those who like fear, while there are
others that seem to fear abnormality. Being able to face those fears brought upon, strengthens the
mind and allows it to enjoy fear as others cannot. In spite of brain's having their own intake on fear,
cultures also share similar qualities of fear. In particular, our cultures can vary what one's fear is. For
instance, "we know that we can learn to fear, and this means our socialization and the society in
which we are raised is going to have a huge deal to do with what we find horrifying." With that
being said, if one's culture is use to seeing certain things that other people might ... Show more

The Fear Of Fear : Fear And Fear
Fear is an unpleasant feeling which is caused by the awareness of danger according to me. It is
something that everyone has to manage no matter what; fear will be fear. Our lives are significantly
formed by fears. We cannot escape from the experience of fear and pain. Everyone has their own
fears but no matter how people look at it, they all overcome their apprehensions. People have
different types of phobias. They are afraid of water, spiders, ghosts, etc. Even I am scared about
such things. You know how there's always that one kid who's always terrified of something? Always
jumping at the next unsuspecting sound? He is even afraid of his own shadow? Well, I was one of
those kids. When I was 10 I had a nightmare. I saw that something was ... Show more content on

Who, or what, could have done something like this? I could feel the distinct sensation that I was
being watched. There was this person who did not look into my eyes but kept repeating "Red eyes...
Red eyes..." And then, there it was. Those two bright red eyes that I had seen just that very evening.
I sat in my car; the whole way home I found myself constantly checking my rearview mirror. No
matter how fast I drove, the feeling of being watched never quite went away. When I got home,
Shadow was not there to greet me at the door as she always had. The house was silent and dark. I
may have felt relief if it were not for the dreadful feeling in my heart. Then, right before my eyes,
the shadow of a lady appeared. It did not look like the dark figure I had seen before. In fact, the
shadow was my own. It was silhouetted against a bright red light.
Oh God! This was the worst nightmare I've ever had and vividly recalled. The worst part was the
terror with the red eyes I always saw in that one nightmare. I used to often wake up crying and
drenched in sweat for few months. I always got the same feelings of dread and fear whenever I was
alone. The thought of someone following me, who had red eyes was constantly knocking my head
and I just was not able to concentrate on some important things. I was always conscious of what my
surroundings were or what they would become. I would examine the environment literally every
fifteen minutes, just couldn't stop thinking about it.

Is There Fear Of Death In Epicurus's Fear Of Death?
The mention of death sparks fear and anxiety among people but there is no reason why people
should fear death because it does not have any meaning to them. Epicurus (2016) claims, "Death,
the most frightening of bad things, is nothing to us; since when we exist death is not yet present, and
when death is present, then we do not exist". Most people fear death because they feel that it hinders
them from accomplishing some of their plans in life and the fact that they do not know what will
happen to them after death. Moreover, the fear of being punished by gods after dying makes most
people feel frightened when death is mentioned (Beard, 2015). However, Epicurus argues that there
is no need to fear death because there is no existence after dying. Since man will not exist to
experience life after death, people should not worry about their state after death, as it is not
necessarily a bad one as people have been made to believe. Thus, it is imperative to illustrate why
death is nothing to us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beard (2015) postulates that Epicurus sees death as the end of man's feelings; thus, feeling as people
know it becomes obsolete at the time of death. All materials including the soul are normally
dispersed back to the earth after death. Furthermore, death does not bring any form of pain because
after the soul has been disembodied it becomes impossible for one to have any emotional response.
The fact that it is impossible to feel pain after dying is another valid reason why death should not be

Fear plays a significant role in Shakespeare's play, Hamlet. Within the play, Hamlet strives to

Social fears are considered an anxiety disorder and include excessive self–consciousness in social
situations. Some people can fear being judged so much they avoid specific situations. All of these
fears seem simple but they are quite difficult to overcome. On the other hand, there are some weird
phobias that are hard to understand if you don't have them such as Hylophobia– fear of trees.
Nomophobia– fear of being without mobile phone coverage. Ombrophobia– fear of rain. If we let
these fears control our actions and our lives, again we will have missed opportunities that will enrich
our lives. For example, Heliophobia: the fear of the sun, sunlight, or any bright light, if this one fear

Fear In Stephen King : The Fear Of Horror
When you think of fear, what do you think of? Have you ever been absolutely terrified by something
that you become petrified. Your brain is programed to protect you from all threats to your body this
protection is known as fear. When we touched a hot pan along with burning ourselves now we will
not do that repeatedly for fear of being burned. Mr. King states, three claims that we go to horror
movies to have fun also we go to feel normal then at last, we go to face our fears but is that
genuinely true?
For the fun of the massacre, That's a reason we go to horror movies. We go to see the horror scenes
that we would think could never happen to us, but you are intrigued to know what they are. In the
grim story "little red cap" there is a perfect example of this. In this story was the original story of
little red hood where The wolf followed her to her grandmother's house. But rather the little girl
going to save her grandmother they both become victims while also being massacred by the wolf.
But when you read this you can't help but to laugh in a peculiar sort of way. For that laugh is why
we go to have fun. For instance the public lynching you saw someone in agonizing pain, but
something about it made you want to go see the lynching over and over. This has to do with Stephen
King's theory that we have a little psycho or when he also says "I think we're all mentally ill;"
(Stephen King why we crave horror). He also says that that urge or insanity we had that made us

What Is The Fear Of Fear Essay
Since a young age, I always had a fear of heights and so when I was asked to take part in jumping
off a bridge (bungee jumping) in South Africa, my natural reaction was to say no, and that is exactly
what I did. But while others were getting ready for the jump I asked myself one question; why am I
scared of heights. I knew I had to face it one day. It was in a fight of flight situation and so, on the
spur of the moment I decided fight. It was a decision I have never regretted even though minutes
before the jump I was very scared. As I leaped of the bridge I felt like I was on the top of the world.
Adrenalin flowed in my body like blood. I felt alive. To this day I cannot forget the incident. Not
because of how scary it was but because of how I was able to conquer my fear. It taught me to

Fear: Fear And The Negative Effects Of Fear
What are fears? Fears are something that we have created in our mind after, usually, having a
negative experience. I say "usually" because fears cannot only come from our own experiences but
also from those of others also. A lot of people have different fears. The main ingredient of fears is
that they are created in our minds, reinforced in our minds and sustained in our minds.
Outside of the fear of heights, which is an innate response and a "natural" fear that has been
scientifically proven to be apparent in some very young children, all the rest of our fears are created
in our mind. We have a negative event and we reinforce it through thinking about, fearing and
analyzing the negative impact of our fears. Thus mediation can be extremely beneficial in helping us

these words in your mind as you breathe. Now that you have gotten into your relaxing meditative

My Fears Of Fear In High School
I remember my freshman year in high school, everything seemed so foreign to me. I remember how
different the classes were from the year before and how much more mature I felt just stepping foot
in this school. I remember looking up to all of the upperclassmen and thinking about how they
literally could probably squish me like a bug. It didn't take my long to grow out of that shy and quiet
girl I was at the beginning. The reason behind me breaking out of my shell, fear. I believe in fear.
Not the kind of fear that they show on horror movies or the kind that makes you wonder if you are
going to get pulled off your bed by something if your leg happens to hang over the edge. I am
talking about fear for myself. Fear that I would never be able to accomplish my goals in high school
or that I wouldn't live up to my older brother who was able to snag a full ride to college. I feared
waking up and realizing I didn't have enough friends or wasn't fun enough. Most of all, I feared
letting myself down as well as my family. That is a lot of fears for a person to have coming into high
school. Honestly, I never even thought about them until classes started and I realized that I may not
be as good as someone else. I did not want to live in the shadow of my brother and I decided to try
something new. I tried out for volleyball. After the week of constantly wanting to quit, I was put on
the varsity team. I remember thinking to myself as my first game arrived that I would finally be my
own person. could get over the fear of being in the shadow or not being good enough. Breathe in,
Breathe out, Left, Right, Left, Right and Swing. That's all it took for me to calm myself down in
warm ups. My senior year, I had terrible anxiety and I am not sure where it came from. Before every
game I would feel so sick to my stomach. The anxiety and fear of wanting to be the best on the court
and the fear or losing a game which would mean losing the chance to go to state. Our qualifying
district game was when I realized just how strong my belief in fear was. I had a college scout

Fear And Fear Of Fear
Fear is one of the many emotions we develop early in life. As children grow older, their level of fear
does too. In previous work by Muris and colleagues, (Muris et al., 1997; Muris & Merckelback,
Gadet, & Moulaert, 2000; as cited by Sayfan and Lagatutta, 2008) researchers examined the fear
children expressed in real and imaginary situations. At around three years of age, most children fear
bodily pain, natural disasters, the dark, and animals. During the preschool years, children tend to
fear imaginary and supernatural creatures. As a child grows older, their supernatural and imaginary
fears start to break down. Given this information, Sayfan and Lagatutta (2008) wanted to observe
the developmental changes in children's knowledge about where people's fears arrive from and how
people of different ages show differences in fear intensity levels, when placed in the same situation.
Their work questions whether children are aware that fear is not only derived from objective
situations, but they can also be shaped by a person's knowledge, their characteristics, and their
preferences. The study contained 64 individuals, 4 groups in total. There were 16 three year olds, 16
five year olds, 16 seven year olds, and 16 young adults. In each group, there was an even

the three artistic proofs, those being ethos, logos, and pathos. Fear is an emotion. In fact, It's one of
the most basic emotions expressed by humans. When authors write with the intent of establishing an
emotional reaction such as fear, they are attempting to invoke sympathy from an audience or to
make the audience feel what what the author wants them to feel. Macbeth, Oedipus Rex, and The
Things They Carried all generate interest by developing emotional bonds with their audience. Fear is
used throughout the texts as a motif for the common theme that fear is the cause of weakness. It is in
Shakespeare's Macbeth that fear is most evident. The word "fear" in Macbeth ... Show more content

The story of Macbeth is basically a power struggle between Scottish royalty and Macbeth, Thane of
Glamis, who is accompanied by his wife Lady Macbeth, who are both eager to fulfill a prophecy
that has Macbeth rising to power as king of Scotland. In order to gain power, he must kill, and kills
at least 10 people who obstruct his kingship. After assassinating King Duncan, Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth can't stop thinking about what they have done and how their plan may be flawed, which
would lead them to being caught. Lady Macbeth tries to convince her husband to return to the scene
and smear blood on sleeping grooms, but Macbeth says "I am afraid to think what I have done"
(Shakespeare 2.2.66). Clearly, Macbeth is afraid that if he goes back to the crime

Fear : Fear And Phobia
Fear and phobia, we all face one at some point in time though the question of what causes it or at the
least why we were we biologically inclined to have phobias and fear.Winerman, L. (2016). Lest we
forget we have nothing to fear but fear itself and look upon this inquiry of what fear is. Be it a scary
movie or something far more sinister, but what does it all mean? What causes you to fear? Well
Based on my research I conclude that fear is something that can be learned or inherited. Alongside
my personal interest in fear as I love to scare people on Halloween in the name of fun and as a
challenge, so what will we see when we mix this interest and this hypothesis together, shall we go
down the rabbit hole together?
Fire, clowns, murderous psychopaths, rabid dogs. All things that scare us, but why?. Well as a great
man known as Harry Truman once said, there is nothing to fear but fear itself but what is it? Well
first off fear is a mixture of environmental stimuli and innate primal reaction derived from are*
times as cavemen. Though over time we have grown complacent with our innate fears and have
even grown to love them, like pyromaniac and the people who enjoy being scared. These fine
examples are just the tips of the iceberg of this little quest. Let us begin with the basis of fear, fear as
mentioned in the last few sentence is a mixture of environmental stimuli and innate primal reactions.
This combination was used for the most part as a survival instinct, like to let us

The Fear Of Fear In Arthur Miller's The Crucible
The line for a rollercoaster. Sweaty hands, deep breaths, butterflies dancing in the stomach. Hearts
beating fast and knees going weak. This feeling must be harmful, but is it? When someone
encounters something that they are afraid of, the two most prevailing instincts are whether to stay
and fight, or to take flight and leave. However, some people go into shock and just freeze. All of
these could either save someone's life, or cause serious injury or death. This begs the question, is
fear always a harmful emotion? Fear is not a harmful emotion, in fact, it is one of the emotions that
keeps humans safe. Without fear, people would constantly be in grave danger and risk death because
they would not take any precautions when encountering dangerous situations. Fear is not harmful
because it causes someone to think quickly and rationally, to find a solution, and to find any means
of survival.
When someone senses a situation of danger, (s)he tends to react quickly and rationally in order to
stay safe. In "The Crucible" written by Arthur Miller, the day after the girls are found dancing in the
woods, the townspeople are starting to say it is witchcraft. The girls are all afraid but not as scared
as Mary Warren. She begins to freak out as the fear consumes her and she pleads "Abby we've got to
tell. Witchery's a hangin' error, a hangin' like they done in boston two years ago! We must tell the
truth Abby!..."(Miller Act I: 145). Although Mary is acting out of fear, she is providing

Fear Essay: Fear And The Fear Of Fear
Fear is something every single human being has at some point in their life. When you are in
dangerous, threatening, or scary situations, fear is what your body will feel. It is the ability to
identify danger and make a choice to either confront that fear or flee from the situation like for
example, if you were to break a vase, you would hide from your parents. That choice is completely
up to the victim, and depends on the person. Although fear is handled differently by every person, it
is a common emotion that everyone feels. Some seek out to overcome their fears, and seek the
feeling of adrenaline they get from overcoming. Others flee the situation and don't think twice about
trying to overcome their fear. In worst case scenarios people freeze ... Show more content on

You can't just sit there and not do anything about it. Time will go by in a heartbeat without you not
facing that one challenge you have in life which is to overcome your fear. We learn from it slowly
and slowly no matter what the outcome is. Our imagination is usually a bit too clear for our minds,
and our worst–case scenarios can go above and beyond with the fears that we have for things. In
most cases, the thing we fear may not turn out as bad as we can imagine. When we want to give up
on something in any kind of situation, we lack the panorama to see how things end up. Maybe the
most important lesson is that we do not need to remove any kind of fear in our life. We can welcome
fear with our life and cope with it. Next time you are fearful about anything don't make it a big thing
and fight through it. Fears can be pretty rational because there are some choices and risks you will
have to take because you never know if it's going to be the right choice just like in the video "What
fear can teach us". The men had to make a pretty difficult decision because there was a very low
chance of survival. These are the kind of people that afraid of everything basically. They might over
think the worst possible thing and just lose their mind about it because fear is something we will all
face for the rest of our lives. There isn't a way to avoid being scared in life unless you face it. Each
choice we make is followed by our

Personal Narrative Essay : The Fear Of Fears
Most people have rational fears. I have both rational and irrational fears. The one that sticks out to
me the most is the fear of drowning. That pit in your stomach when driving over a bridge. That you
need to unlock the doors just incase you are in an accident. The need to be able to escape. That is
just one of the many emotions I feel about water.
Eventually, I came face to face with my fear. It was not somewhere I expected it to be like at the
ocean swimming to far out, or diving into a muddy pond and getting caught on something. It was
somewhere I thought I'd be absolutely safe. A place where families go on vacations. A place where
life guards are right there beside you. We had gone on a family vacation to splash lagoon, but
instead of being one of my favorite family vacations it became my least.
The indoor park was booming. Kids where running wild and the place smelled so much like chlorine
that I could feel my skin drying out just being in there. There was several rides my mother and I had
gone on. We were having a blast. We rode the lazy river so many times, pushing each other into the
water falls and trying to tip each others tube when the life guards were not looking. We had decided
it was time to do something more adventurous and rode some of the slides. There was one huge red
slide that after zipping around in the darkness it dropped you into something that looked like a
funnel. While you'd spin around in the tunnel several times then you would drop through a

Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to
cause pain or a threat. Our own emotions, especially fear, make us do the things we never saw
ourselves doing. In the play "The Crucible" many of the characters actions are driven by fear.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt once said "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. This emotion
doesn't have to control our actions.
Fear is a powerful human emotion. It can make you do things you wouldn't normally do, like risk

The Fears Of Fear : Fear Of Darkness
I've always had fears in the back of my mind but as I've got older I have come realize that they were
childish and silly thoughts that stopped me from achieving big things. The first fear I had was
Nycophobia or in other words the fear of darkness. I could distinctly remember when I could see
shadows on the wall which in my mind were monsters, ghosts.
The fear of darkness is a common phobia to have but to me it was more than just a fear it was an
integral part of my life. Most young children can go to bed and fall asleep without any hassle,
however in my case going to bed was like being sent to death. There I would lay on my bed in a
dark room when I would see a shadow zoom past the wall causing me to scream like a little girl, it
was embarrassing. Then again, this was only one of the encounters I had with 'spirit world' but there
was one encounter and this was the worst of all, it was that scary it could frighten a grown man. And
it all started at my little old grans house.
My granny's house lay on a narrow street next to the graveyard which really spooked me out,
however I did have my granny to look after me, right? No, instead of sleeping in my grans nice cosy
bedroom that night I had to sleep downstairs on my own in my uncle's old room. This room was the
complete opposite of my grans it was a cold and smelly old room which was almost non liveable.
Despite this, I did have a huge double bed all to myself. I arrived and I was dreading it, it is not
normal to leave a 5

Fear In Beowulf
The Ultimate Emotion Fear is the ultimate emotion because it is both mankind's greatest strength
and greatest flaw. It gives us reason, but can also be irrational. If one can surpass their fears, it can
reward them greatly. Robinson Crusoe, by Daniel Defoe, follows a life of an adventurer from a
young age and his story of traveling the world. Robinson, the main character, gets into many
dangerous situations, from being enslaved by pirates, to being shipwrecked and being stuck on a
deserted island. Robinson has to conquer many fears. Another story that fear is prevalent in is
Beowulf, which follows the story of a supernatural human, Beowulf, who fights multiple monsters
that no mortal could defeat. Lastly, fear is prevalent in "The Wife ... Show more content on

The theme is given in short and repetitive bits. Additionally, Defoe shows this in the way he reacts
to seeing the footprint on the beach. He fears that first it is the devil, but then fears what is the truth,
that there are cannibals on the island. He ends up overcoming that by thinking to himself "I do not
mean, that I am entertain'd by any Fear of their Number; for as they were naked, unarm'd Wretches,
'tis certain I was superior to them" (Defoe 232). He uses logic to get over the fear of the cannibals,
realizing he should not be afraid because they do not have any guns and though they have the
numbers they are not immensely intelligent. In Beowulf, the plot development is in one big umbrella
and then separated into three, in each battle. In the third part of the plot development of the theme is
when Beowulf fights the dragon. Wiglaf, one of Beowulf's followers, is overcome with fear when he
sees the dragon and needs to fight it, so he proceeds to run away. However; when Beowulf needs
him, he faces his fear and eventually defeats the dragon. As Beowulf is dying for his bravery Wiglaf
is awarded his kingdom, once again proving that if one faces their fears they can secure the benefits.
"What I leave, Wiglaf, lead my people, Help them, my time is gone." (Beowulf l. 811–812). In the
"Wife of Bath's Tale" the theme is derived from a plot development as well, but only a single event

The Crucible Fear is one of the strongest and most unpleasant emotions found in all humans. The
brain triggers that emotion when it senses any sign of danger or threat that can affect your body.
That feeling of anxiety can cause a person to take extreme measures and to act in a foolish and
violent way. Fear was the main emotion that was found in the characters of the book, The Crucible
by Arthur Miller. This negative emotion caused them to take bad decisions which led to severe and
atrocious consequences. Most of the puritans in this play had a fear that caused innocent people to
die. Their main fear is, fear of the unknown. Some characters had a fear of having a bad reputation

– These kind of characters tries to put all the attention away from them by blaming innocent people.
– An example is when Parris asked Reverend Hale to come to town for that he can investigate for
any witchcraft activities even though he knew that his daughter started the conflicts. That caused
many false accusations and the death of many innocent people. Parris, ''But if you trafficked with
spirits in the forest I must know it now, for surely my enemies will and they will ruin me with it''

– To conclude, one of the major causes of the chaos that occurred in Salem was the fear of having a
bad name. – Secondly, the majority of the population of Salem were scared of the concept of death
and moving on to the afterlife. In the village, anyone who went against the commandments of the

Fear And Fear Of Fear
Most people experience fear on a day to day basis whether it is common anxiety or being scared by
seeing something out of the ordinary. For example, if you are walking home from a neighbor's house
and you think you hear the sound of someone behind you. Your start wondering what is behind you.
You begin to think that maybe it is a serial killer who wants you dead, but is most likely just a stray
cat. Why do we respond this way? Are you experiencing fear or anxiety? The differences between
these responses can be hard to determine since the notions are usually used often without taking the
time to explain the differences. Common terms that we use to describe how we feel like: fear of
death, fear of the unknown, fear of flying, or fear of failure are most of the time labeled as a so
called fear. However, those terms are actually a form of anxiety.
Commonly, fear is your brain naturally reacting to situation or stimulus that threatens your safety or
security. You can also fear for someone else, per say if a loved one is in danger. A common example,
such as being startled by something rustling leaves behind you when you are walking home at night
is a sense of fear. Fear is perceiving by the brain as a sense of dread, which is attempting to warn
you to the likelihood that you may be physically harmed in some way. This then activates you to
turn on your defensive mechanism by giving you a rush of adrenaline which heightens your senses
and makes you more aware of your surroundings.

Fear And Fear
Fear is an element used by authors, screenwriters, playwrights, and artists for many centuries, but it
is also something that has eluded explanation. It has long been known that fear affects the brain, and
creators use this to make their works memorable, like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Bram
Stoker's Dracula. Fearful situations are sought after because people like the way their brain reacts.
Fearful situations make the brain release chemicals like dopamine, adrenaline, and endorphins. In
Allegra Ringo's "Why Do Some Brains Enjoy Fear?", an interview with Dr. Margee Kerr, who
earned her PhD in sociology at The University of Pittsburgh, and wrote Scream: Chilling

"brakes" on the dopamine release and re–uptake in the brain. This means some people are going to
really enjoy thrilling, scary, and risky situations while others, not so much"(Ringo). While this is
why some people enjoy fear, others enjoy fear because "it gives the a sense of confidence after it's
over."(Ringo). An example of this was when I went to Disney World in Orlando, Florida for a school
band trip, I rode roller coasters for the first time in a long time, because, although they terrified me, I
wasn't gonna look like a wimp in front of my friends. After I got past the first few rides I was loving
them. I attribute this love to the fact that I was alive to ride it again, which in some cases I did. I felt
invincible for a few moments after it was over and I loved it. As it is stated in "What Happens in the
Brain When We Feel Fear", an article by Dr. Arash Javanbakht, a board certified psychiatrist, and
Dr. Linda Saab, a psychiatry specialist, explains exactly what biological things happen within the
brain due to fear, fear also "leads to bodily

How Fear Affects Us. Fear
How Fear Affects Us
fear
ˈfir/ noun
1.an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to
cause pain, or a threat.
Fear is an emotion or thought that is strange and at times indescribable, but often felt in our
everyday lives. It is the profound feeling you get when you feel as if you are being threatened with
danger or when you feel that something bad is going to happen. At times, fear can keep you from
succeeding or doing what you need to do; it can limit the abilities you have and cause you to
procrastinate or make reckless decisions. Anxiety is also another factor of fear, and it is when people
are randomly afraid of something, but don't know why they're scared. Fear is an unpleasant and
disliked emotion, but at times it is good for people and their safety. Our brain is always looking out
for things that can harm us and when detected, it prepares us so that our bodies to avoid danger. In
situations where one does not feel any fear, it may endanger them by making one choose to do
irresponsible things and make wrong decisions that could lead into self injuries. Therefore, fear is a
good factor to have and although it is something awful to feel, it helps you in the incidents needed
most.
Being afraid of something is when a threatening moment occurs, and our brain is triggered with a
stimuli to feel fear. It's when the cells in the brain create a chain reaction starting with a stressful
stimulus, then ending with a

Fear In Hamlet
Hamlet: A Fear–y Tale
In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Prince Hamlet does not prove to be the stereotypical perfect
prince. Shakespeare's choice in making Hamlet vulnerable, anxious and afraid of the stress of his
life allows for the reader to relate to him. Each human experiences fear and its mysteries. However,
in order to move forward in life, it is inevitable to face these fears. Indecisive minds, like Hamlet,
can grow by taking the time to comprehend their fears, letting the fears guide their thoughts and
choosing to use their creative imaginations to make decisions.
When people are struggling with making an important decision for their future, they can become
paralyzed by their constant questioning. They question their capabilities and the uncertainty of the
future makes them anxious. This fear is shown in Hamlet's extensive analysis of his situation. He
exhausts every angle of the problem before making a decision. He questions his capability as a
leader, his anxiety taking over his thoughts. In Act I Scene 5, Hamlet states,
This time is out of joint. O cursed spite,
That ever was I born to set it right! (Hamlet, Act 1 Scene 5, line 205).
Hamlet's fear is crushing his self–confidence. If he had taken the time to listen to his fears, his
anxiety would have decreased. Learning how to analyze fear is an important tool in making wise
decisions. According to Karen Walker's TED Talk "What Fear Can Teach Us", "Fears are a form of
unintentional storytelling" (5:23). We are

Fear Is The Main Source Of Fear In The Crucible
According to Bertrand Russell, "Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources
of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom." This shows that fear is a large factor in our
lives, if we realize it or not. Fear is caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous and
causes an unpleasant feeling. Due to this, the characters in The Crucible took extreme measures to
restore the peace in their community. Over the course of my research and connection to The
Crucible, I specifically chose to examine the following research question: To what extent does fear
affect one's life, as it did in the lives' of the characters in The Crucible? Fear exists in all living
things. According to Arthur J. Westermayr, "Even in plant life we can trace evidences that indicate
the presence of a natural law operating very much as fear does upon brute instinct and the human
mind" (250). Being fearful is an inevitable feeling for everyone, if you're willing to admit it or not.
Some people even believe that fear is a weakness and refuse to show it. "If yielding to the
domination of fear signifies cowardice, then..., every man at some time, in some way, will prove
himself a coward" (Westermayr 251). Therefore, the more you try to deny fear and hold it all in
without ever showing it, the more likely you are to end up showing weakness and cowardice. In a
way, people like this have a fear of fear. An interesting aspect of fear is that it is different for

Fear And Fear : The Fear Of Fear
Some people are afraid of heights; they simply are mortified by them. They're scared to death of
even thinking about being in high places, seeing tall buildings or structures and the very worst,
actually being at a high elevation. In any of these scenarios people with alto–phobia (the fear of
heights) can often get dizzy, experience panic attacks, anxiety and a whole other host of things that
would endanger them in certain situations. Luckily, I am not one those people, because if I was,
either I wouldn't have a cool story to tell or I'd be dead right now.
This little escapade happened when I was around 7 to 8 years old, I'm not entirely sure the age but it
was definitely around that period. During that time in the area in which I lived there were these kids
who lived really close to me whom I used to muck around with during the summer or whenever.
This day in particular was one of those days. My childhood friend Jesiah; who was about two years
older than me, wanted to go on one of those adventures we used to go on all the time, so he grabbed
another kid (whose name I have forgotten) to come along with us. What we used to do was run
through other people's backyards, but it's way more interesting than it sounds, I promise. My house
was on a hill, so that the neighbors backyards behind us was almost entirely above my house. Many
of their yards had steep climbs, were sometimes very wild, and just fun to run around in and jump
from yard to yard. This time, however, we didn't just go into the usual yards we'd go in. For some
reason we decided to go one block up and come down to a certain yard that was two houses down,
and towered over our house to the point that we could visibly see the roof of the two story house to
go around a garage to get to another yard next to it.
Now, this would seem tame, if it weren't for the fact that to get around the garage in the first place
you had to step on a ledge that was a little less than a foot wide, back against the wall, over a drop
that would lower gradually. Mind you this in on the right side, we still hadn't gotten around to the
back yet! When we actually reached the back the other kid chickened out and went back to meet us
on the other side (which was wise of him, he

Fear : The Way I See Fear
Batuhan Kir
Ms. Evans
Honors English II

What is Fear?
The way I see fear is that many people try to run away from it instead of challenging it. Fear makes
people run away from ideas, actions, or even goals. Everyone experiences fear whether they are
elementary students, college students, or parents. People could fear having to speak in a crowd of
others or fear a single human being. Since fear can't fully be defined by a simple sentence, I have
decided to define this short but complex word by studying its origins, discussing what fear is not,
and giving examples and indications about fear. Furthermore, I will show how the word fear is
represented in Night and The Sunflower.
(Origin and Causes)
The word fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In traumatic events people tend to freeze up or try hiding. It causes to have a rapid heart rate,
increases our blood pressure, and increases sweating. We develop fear as an outcome of learning.
Due to this we have many events in history that demonstrate why we people fear. Can you forget the
Africans who were forced to come to the Americas? Didn't they fear the people who were treating
them like they had no value? How about the Jews? The Jewish people feared getting captured and
killed for their beliefs by the Nazis. In the book Night, we can see that the Jews clearly feared death
and did anything in their power to survive. Elie even had thoughts to take his father's rations at point
so he could live longer although his father was the main reason why he was trying to survive. In the
book Night the narrator states "I thought deep down, not daring to admit it to myself. Too late to
save your old father ... You could have two rations of bread, two rations of soup." (Wiesel 111). This
shows that Elie feared death so much that he forgot what kept him alive in the first place.
(Examples and Incidents) Additionally, in today's society we can see people fear religion. There are
some people in the U.S that are Islamophobic which means they fear a whole religion. The people
who fear the whole religion itself are ignorant. They believe that what ISIS is doing is what the
religion asks for, when what they are doing is completely

People fear how others will judge them for the way they act which results in locking them in their
comfort zone forever. Once people fail, they fear to try it again because the uncertainty acts as a
mental block which prevents them from trying to do it again. Fear can hinder individuals from their
true potential. In the poem, "Before i got my eye put out" illustrates a self reflection of Emily
Dickinson on reminiscing on the lost of her eyesight. Dickinson tries to remember what it was like
having her eyesight and completely feels as if she is lost and had hit the very bottom. Fear has taken
over her from starting again and remembering that life is not over. Humans are able to get through

However, people who take the big leap and face their fears tend to experiment greater things in life
as they experience more. These experiences allow for more exposure to unfamiliar ideas and as a
result, they become more open minded. Personally, I have experienced something similar to this in
volleyball. During my freshman year, I had always dreamed of becoming a starter. However,
volleyball was different from a certain task that I needed to perfect. It was a sport where I found
myself needing to face my fears of messing up to end up making mistakes and taking those mistakes
and apply what I learn in different situations. In Emily Dickinson's poem, "we Grow Accustomed to
the Dark," she expounds the idea how "the Bravest – grope a little – And sometimes hit a Tree
Directly in the Forehead – But as they learn to see – Either the Darkness alters – Or something in the
sight Adjust itself to Midnight – And Life steps almost straight" (Dickinson 13–20). This
emphasizes that obstacles in life are the first concern when it comes to making a decision. Those
obstacles should not fear or stop them from doing what they love to

The Fear Of Snakes : The Fear Of Snakes
You're walking in your garden and then you stop. There you see it. It's a snake. The snake notices
you and you begin to sweat, and your heart beats faster, and you're ready to run but any sudden
moves could result with you being hurt or worse. Instead of staying safe, you run for it, because you
start to freak out. If this is like you, you may have ophidiophobia. Ophidiophobia is the fear of
snakes.
There can be many causes of ophidiophobia. According to "Fear of Snakes Phobia –
Ophidiophobia" by Jacob Olesen, "[A]Traumatic episode[s] in the past such as accidently stepping
on a snake or being bitten, hissed at or otherwise threatened by snakes might have lead to one's
Ophidiophobia." A traumatic episode could cause ophidiophobia because if a person were bitten by
a snake, then they might be scared of snakes because they might get worried that all snake would
bite them; that person wouldn't want to be bitten by a snake again. For example someone might be
walking along a hiking trail when they step on a snake. The snake probably doesn't like that so it
bites the person. After they get bitten, they wouldn't want to be bitten again so they freak out when
they see a snake again because it might remind them of being bitten. Jacob Olesen also says "Media
reports and TV shows can also lead one to believe that snakes are always dangerous leading to
Ophidiophobia." This might lead to ophidiophobia because it might show someone being attacked
by a snake; it might lead them to

Fear Is Bad

  • 1. Fear Is Bad Bad and Good at the Same Time Fear, the only emotion in life that is fun and not fun at the same time to experience. This is what makes it so interesting to mankind. To no surprise, anything that can induce this emotion is able to sell, and sell quickly at that. Although you don't need to pay to experience this feeling, being that life is scary all on its own, many people do. Roller coasters, scary stories, and horror based video games are all popular examples of things people pay to go through. A trend of fear in life and literature have come as a result of this common interest, combined with the natural events of everyday life. Literature is a wonderful medium of delivering fear. • 3. Fear In The Alchemist Along the path the life we are going to face obstacles, obstacles that we might not able to surpass but as Paulo Coehlo once said: "The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight". Fear can be a positive and negative feeling depending on the situation, it can protect you from evil and it can block your path to success. Fear is defined as a "distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc" (dictionary.com) . The Alchemist follows the story of a young Andalusian shepherd, Santiago, in his journey to Egyptian pyramids in the search of his Personal Legend and treasure, after having a recurring dream of finding treasure there. The negative type of fear is present throughout the entire novel as Santiago's biggest obstacle to overcome in order for him to achieve his goals. • 5. Fear Is Our Fear The Killer Is our Fear the Killer? On the subject, such as terrorism, many aren't fully aware of why human beings that walk the same earth as us produce such violence. In the article it stated that "they want you to be full of fear. Of them. All the time" (Lamotte 1). This one line suggests that the killers enjoy the fear, but it is also stated that they, in fact, might be the ones in this state of mind. Granting that they are indeed in fear means that they possibly aren't in a full state of mind. Even more, "fear is a complex psychophysiological emotional experience that results in alterations in mood, temperament, motivation, and personality" (Lamotte 2). • 7. Fear Of Fear Essay Fear is the number one obstacle everyone must overcome at some point in their life. When the word fear is brought up I like to think of past situations that I experienced. There are many different methods used to conquer and learn from our fears such and exposure therapy, having a growth mindset, and thinking positive. For example, when I was younger fear was my worst enemy, School was the main reason that caused my fear. My fear of failure was my biggest obstacle growing up so I used that as a method to learn from my fears. In the Ted talk "Smash Fear, Learn Anything" Tim Ferris talks about having a growth mindset, when Ferris was younger he moved to japan not knowing nothing. Ferris first day of school in japan was like my personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It came to the point where I thought to myself that I was not going to get my work done on time. So, I decided to change my mindset and think to myself that I can finish the task at hand and just think positive over all. Allowing me to conquer my fear of failure and learn from my mistake, developing a growth mindset. For example, in the passage class act it tells us of a man's experience of how he acquired the act of fearlessness. In the passage they talk about the man facing many challenges. One of them being facing fear head on. and using that to conquer fear its self even by looking at your worst fear head on. As a personal experience I realized that facing fear head on a one of the best methods used to conquer fear its self. Another good example used to conquer fear is presented in the passage "Ten Ways We Get the Odds Wrong" in the passage it goes on to tell the reader of many person challenges different people faced that caused them to overcome their personal fears. Such as "we fear cancer but not heart disease" in that passage they say, "things build up slowly but are very hard for us to see" when I hear that I like to think of that as a way used to conquer our fears by thinking of it as a way of letting our fears just pile up to the point where we become blind of them. leading us to just forget about them and learning to move on kind of like a growth mindset. • 11. The Fear Of Fear In Arthur Miller's The Crucible "The enemy is fear. We think it is hate; but, it is fear" (Gandhi). While this may be true, what may be a more powerful driver in our lives are the lengths we take to avoid things we fear. The society of Salem that Arthur Miller creates in The Crucible shows how fear can slowly lead to panic and eventually break down civilized behavior. The Salem witch trials occurred in Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft otherwise known as "the Devil's magic." To what degree can we attribute the events of the Salem Witch Trials as portrayed in The Crucible to fear? Fear is an emotional response caused by a threat, which causes a change in the brain and organ function, as well as behavior. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being in nature can also reduce fear because it increases pleasant feelings. Those feelings reduce blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension and stress hormones. Talking with a therapist is another way to deal with fear. (Towey) In The Crucible, Miller portrays the people of Salem as panicked and scared of witchcraft. The citizens of Salem accuse people of practicing witchcraft to deal with their fear of evil. They need solid proof to back up accusations of others, and they need to clear their own names as well. The citizens randomly start demanding that "they saw...with the Devil", and that "they saw...with the Devil" (45). These one–sided reasons for their fears shows how truly awful their minds become. People start accusing their friends, neighbors, and even their own family in order to clear their name. They try to demonstrate that this witchery is real, and verify that they are not crazy. What it really does is show how fear is setting in, and how they have actually accepted these lies as the truth just to get out of the death penalty. "Hale: Did you call the Devil last night? Abigail: I never called him! Parris: She called the Devil? Abigail: I didn't see no Devil. Hale: You cannot evade me" (40). Abigail Williams and John Proctor are ex–lovers. We realize in the first act of The Crucible that the two of them had an affair. Abigail was the John Proctor's servant, and ever since the very intense affair, Abigail began to be very committed to John. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My inner monster is the fear of not knowing what is next in life. It creeps me out to just think that I don't know what my next move will be or how it will turn out to be. The terror of not knowing what might be my next chapter in life makes me feel nauseous. I'm the type of person who likes to have everything in my life planned. From one thing to another, I consider myself to be a proficient. • 15. Fears In Stephen King : The Fear Of Horror When you think of fear, what do you think of? Do you think of something you are absolutely terrified of and do not want to think about or something else. Fear is programmed in your brain as something you want to stay away from for safety. Like when we touched a hot pan and burned ourselves now we will not do that again for fear of being burned. Mr.King states three claims that we go to horror movies to have fun and that we go to feel normal and the last one That we go to face our fears but is that really true? For the fun of the massacre, That's a reason we go to horror movies. We go to see the things that we would think could never happen to us but you want to know what they are like. In the grim story "little redcap" there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this story "The frog king" did not have a horror element but did convey the point of feeling normal. The story itself was like a spinoff of the princess and the frog or vice versa. But the plot was that their was a princess and she made a promise with a frog to get her ball back from the bottom of a well. Since she rescued the frog from the well he turned into a prince. Throughout the story the princes keeps saying how she was disgusted by the frog. Stephen king said "Fred Jackson as the horrible melting woman in Die, Monster, Die confirms that no matter how far we may be removed from the beauty of Robert Redford or Diana Ross, we are still light years from true ugliness." So through this quote he tells us that comparing ourselves to his characters we can feel like celebrities. We can compare ourselves to the frog and make ourselves feel better about the way we look. Now lastly there is the third reason that we go to face their fears. I believe that we have fears for a reason and that people do not just face them. The definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. So knowing this fact why would you want to go against something programmed in your brain to stay away from because it's a threat. Like when you were a kid and you touched a hot pan and burned yourself now you know not to touch it again for the fear of being burned again. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fear Essay: Declaration Of Independence Of Fear Declaration Of Independence Of Fear When in the course of a human's life it becomes necessary to break free from certain destructive behaviors and attitudes, it is beneficial to both the individual and to mankind to specify the grievances which impel them to take such an action. By making this public statement, we hope to strengthen our own resolution. The emotion of which we speak of is fear. Like other emotions, Fear serves a useful purpose. But when given a little power, Fear quickly becomes a sensualist for power. As it becomes more powerful, it morphs into a monstrous being and takes over a person's life. • 19. The Allure of Fear The Allure of Fear Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat(Websters Dictionary).Fear is something that our lives have adapted to rarely use as our ancient predecessors have.In our day and age the concept of fear comes through the stress of work. We humans no longer fear a cold nor do we fear storms as our houses protect us and on average our life spans are longer as old in the Paleolithic was 33 while currently it is 71.5(Wikipedia Life Expectancy). Why then is our fear so extensive that it can make us freeze up? "The answer is our legacy of ancient fears, the result of having spent millions of years running from predators. Our fear response is more influenced by the ancient species we struggled to escape than any modern challenges."(The evolutionary legacy of having been prey.By Rob Dunn) This is one of the statements about human life. If this is so how do we develop from terror to finding fear fun? We were not born with guns in our hands or clothes on our bodies. Our most ancient ancestors had to run for most of their lives as even a hungry Komodo dragon could eat them without much of a fight. This gave our ancestors an almost feral fear, making them perceptive to any noise as ignorance of the noise could spell death. This fear wired the brains of every animal for the flight or fight response. The extended duration of this state made the wiring almost permanent. However it seems as though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Response To Fear Everyone has experienced fear, at least once in his or her life. When facing fear, people are forced to decide if they will fight their fears or flee them. This response can cause some people to enjoy fear, while others do not. In her interview, Dr.Kerr discusses the brain's response to fear. A few people revel in fear, while others do not. It is much less common to believe that people would take joy in fear, however; having been found that, "the natural high from the fight–or–flight response can make one feel wonderful." As a result of fear causing one to feel tremendous, they also savor the high of the fight–or–flight. Fear goers response to the natural high of fight–or–flight, is what makes them enjoy fear. Also, the fear goers responses, reveal one way they dote on fear. In addition to enjoying the high, a mass of people also " enjoy frightening situations considering, it leaves them with a sense of confidence after it is over." People are fond of fear just for the simple fact that after they face it, they suddenly have more confidence afterwards. There are those who like fear, while there are others that seem to fear abnormality. Being able to face those fears brought upon, strengthens the mind and allows it to enjoy fear as others cannot. In spite of brain's having their own intake on fear, cultures also share similar qualities of fear. In particular, our cultures can vary what one's fear is. For instance, "we know that we can learn to fear, and this means our socialization and the society in which we are raised is going to have a huge deal to do with what we find horrifying." With that being said, if one's culture is use to seeing certain things that other people might ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 23. The Fear Of Fear : Fear And Fear Fear is an unpleasant feeling which is caused by the awareness of danger according to me. It is something that everyone has to manage no matter what; fear will be fear. Our lives are significantly formed by fears. We cannot escape from the experience of fear and pain. Everyone has their own fears but no matter how people look at it, they all overcome their apprehensions. People have different types of phobias. They are afraid of water, spiders, ghosts, etc. Even I am scared about such things. You know how there's always that one kid who's always terrified of something? Always jumping at the next unsuspecting sound? He is even afraid of his own shadow? Well, I was one of those kids. When I was 10 I had a nightmare. I saw that something was ... I sat in my car; the whole way home I found myself constantly checking my rearview mirror. No matter how fast I drove, the feeling of being watched never quite went away. When I got home, Shadow was not there to greet me at the door as she always had. The house was silent and dark. I may have felt relief if it were not for the dreadful feeling in my heart. Then, right before my eyes, the shadow of a lady appeared. It did not look like the dark figure I had seen before. In fact, the shadow was my own. It was silhouetted against a bright red light. Oh God! This was the worst nightmare I've ever had and vividly recalled. The worst part was the terror with the red eyes I always saw in that one nightmare. I used to often wake up crying and drenched in sweat for few months. I always got the same feelings of dread and fear whenever I was alone. The thought of someone following me, who had red eyes was constantly knocking my head and I just was not able to concentrate on some important things. I was always conscious of what my surroundings were or what they would become. I would examine the environment literally every fifteen minutes, just couldn't stop thinking about it. ... • 25. Is There Fear Of Death In Epicurus's Fear Of Death? The mention of death sparks fear and anxiety among people but there is no reason why people should fear death because it does not have any meaning to them. Epicurus (2016) claims, "Death, the most frightening of bad things, is nothing to us; since when we exist death is not yet present, and when death is present, then we do not exist". Most people fear death because they feel that it hinders them from accomplishing some of their plans in life and the fact that they do not know what will happen to them after death. Moreover, the fear of being punished by gods after dying makes most people feel frightened when death is mentioned (Beard, 2015). However, Epicurus argues that there is no need to fear death because there is no existence after dying. Since man will not exist to experience life after death, people should not worry about their state after death, as it is not necessarily a bad one as people have been made to believe. Thus, it is imperative to illustrate why death is nothing to us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your brain is programed to protect you from all threats to your body this protection is known as fear. When we touched a hot pan along with burning ourselves now we will not do that repeatedly for fear of being burned. Mr. King states, three claims that we go to horror movies to have fun also we go to feel normal then at last, we go to face our fears but is that genuinely true? For the fun of the massacre, That's a reason we go to horror movies. We go to see the horror scenes that we would think could never happen to us, but you are intrigued to know what they are. In the grim story "little red cap" there is a perfect example of this. In this story was the original story of little red hood where The wolf followed her to her grandmother's house. But rather the little girl going to save her grandmother they both become victims while also being massacred by the wolf. But when you read this you can't help but to laugh in a peculiar sort of way. For that laugh is why we go to have fun. For instance the public lynching you saw someone in agonizing pain, but something about it made you want to go see the lynching over and over. I say "usually" because fears cannot only come from our own experiences but also from those of others also. A lot of people have different fears. The main ingredient of fears is that they are created in our minds, reinforced in our minds and sustained in our minds. Outside of the fear of heights, which is an innate response and a "natural" fear that has been scientifically proven to be apparent in some very young children, all the rest of our fears are created in our mind. We have a negative event and we reinforce it through thinking about, fearing and analyzing the negative impact of our fears. I remember how different the classes were from the year before and how much more mature I felt just stepping foot in this school. I remember looking up to all of the upperclassmen and thinking about how they literally could probably squish me like a bug. It didn't take my long to grow out of that shy and quiet girl I was at the beginning. The reason behind me breaking out of my shell, fear. I believe in fear. Not the kind of fear that they show on horror movies or the kind that makes you wonder if you are going to get pulled off your bed by something if your leg happens to hang over the edge. I am talking about fear for myself. Fear that I would never be able to accomplish my goals in high school or that I wouldn't live up to my older brother who was able to snag a full ride to college. I feared waking up and realizing I didn't have enough friends or wasn't fun enough. Most of all, I feared letting myself down as well as my family. That is a lot of fears for a person to have coming into high school. Honestly, I never even thought about them until classes started and I realized that I may not be as good as someone else. I did not want to live in the shadow of my brother and I decided to try something new. I tried out for volleyball. After the week of constantly wanting to quit, I was put on the varsity team. I remember thinking to myself as my first game arrived that I would finally be my own person. could get over the fear of being in the shadow or not being good enough. Breathe in, Breathe out, Left, Right, Left, Right and Swing. That's all it took for me to calm myself down in warm ups. My senior year, I had terrible anxiety and I am not sure where it came from. Before every game I would feel so sick to my stomach. The anxiety and fear of wanting to be the best on the court and the fear or losing a game which would mean losing the chance to go to state. Our qualifying district game was when I realized just how strong my belief in fear was. I had a college scout watching me this game and on top of that, if we lost, that was to be my last game of my high school career. It was like someone hit the freak out button on me which ... • 41. Fear And Fear Of Fear Fear is one of the many emotions we develop early in life. As children grow older, their level of fear does too. In previous work by Muris and colleagues, (Muris et al., 1997; Muris & Merckelback, Gadet, & Moulaert, 2000; as cited by Sayfan and Lagatutta, 2008) researchers examined the fear children expressed in real and imaginary situations. At around three years of age, most children fear bodily pain, natural disasters, the dark, and animals. During the preschool years, children tend to fear imaginary and supernatural creatures. As a child grows older, their supernatural and imaginary fears start to break down. Given this information, Sayfan and Lagatutta (2008) wanted to observe the developmental changes in children's knowledge about where people's fears arrive from and how people of different ages show differences in fear intensity levels, when placed in the same situation. Their work questions whether children are aware that fear is not only derived from objective situations, but they can also be shaped by a person's knowledge, their characteristics, and their preferences. The study contained 64 individuals, 4 groups in total. There were 16 three year olds, 16 five year olds, 16 seven year olds, and 16 young adults. In each group, there was an even distribution of 8 males and 8 females. Fear : Fear And Phobia Fear and phobia, we all face one at some point in time though the question of what causes it or at the least why we were we biologically inclined to have phobias and fear.Winerman, L. (2016). Lest we forget we have nothing to fear but fear itself and look upon this inquiry of what fear is. Be it a scary movie or something far more sinister, but what does it all mean? What causes you to fear? Well Based on my research I conclude that fear is something that can be learned or inherited. Alongside my personal interest in fear as I love to scare people on Halloween in the name of fun and as a challenge, so what will we see when we mix this interest and this hypothesis together, shall we go down the rabbit hole together? Fire, clowns, murderous psychopaths, rabid dogs. All things that scare us, but why?. Well as a great man known as Harry Truman once said, there is nothing to fear but fear itself but what is it? Well first off fear is a mixture of environmental stimuli and innate primal reaction derived from are* times as cavemen. Though over time we have grown complacent with our innate fears and have even grown to love them, like pyromaniac and the people who enjoy being scared. These fine examples are just the tips of the iceberg of this little quest. • 47. The Fear Of Fear In Arthur Miller's The Crucible The line for a rollercoaster. Sweaty hands, deep breaths, butterflies dancing in the stomach. Hearts beating fast and knees going weak. This feeling must be harmful, but is it? When someone encounters something that they are afraid of, the two most prevailing instincts are whether to stay and fight, or to take flight and leave. However, some people go into shock and just freeze. All of these could either save someone's life, or cause serious injury or death. This begs the question, is fear always a harmful emotion? Fear is not a harmful emotion, in fact, it is one of the emotions that keeps humans safe. Without fear, people would constantly be in grave danger and risk death because they would not take any precautions when encountering dangerous situations. Fear is not harmful because it causes someone to think quickly and rationally, to find a solution, and to find any means of survival. When someone senses a situation of danger, (s)he tends to react quickly and rationally in order to stay safe. In "The Crucible" written by Arthur Miller, the day after the girls are found dancing in the woods, the townspeople are starting to say it is witchcraft. That choice is completely up to the victim, and depends on the person. Although fear is handled differently by every person, it is a common emotion that everyone feels. In most cases, the thing we fear may not turn out as bad as we can imagine. When we want to give up on something in any kind of situation, we lack the panorama to see how things end up. Maybe the most important lesson is that we do not need to remove any kind of fear in our life. We can welcome fear with our life and cope with it. Robinson, the main character, gets into many dangerous situations, from being enslaved by pirates, to being shipwrecked and being stuck on a deserted island. Robinson has to conquer many fears. Lastly, fear is prevalent in "The Wife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theme is given in short and repetitive bits. Additionally, Defoe shows this in the way he reacts to seeing the footprint on the beach. He fears that first it is the devil, but then fears what is the truth, that there are cannibals on the island. He ends up overcoming that by thinking to himself "I do not mean, that I am entertain'd by any Fear of their Number; for as they were naked, unarm'd Wretches, 'tis certain I was superior to them" (Defoe 232). He uses logic to get over the fear of the cannibals, realizing he should not be afraid because they do not have any guns and though they have the numbers they are not immensely intelligent. In Beowulf, the plot development is in one big umbrella and then separated into three, in each battle. In the third part of the plot development of the theme is when Beowulf fights the dragon. Wiglaf, one of Beowulf's followers, is overcome with fear when he sees the dragon and needs to fight it, so he proceeds to run away. However; when Beowulf needs him, he faces his fear and eventually defeats the dragon. As Beowulf is dying for his bravery Wiglaf is awarded his kingdom, once again proving that if one faces their fears they can secure the benefits. "What I leave, Wiglaf, lead my people, Help them, my time is gone." (Beowulf l. 811–812). • 61. Fear And Fear Of Fear Most people experience fear on a day to day basis whether it is common anxiety or being scared by seeing something out of the ordinary. For example, if you are walking home from a neighbor's house and you think you hear the sound of someone behind you. Your start wondering what is behind you. You begin to think that maybe it is a serial killer who wants you dead, but is most likely just a stray cat. Why do we respond this way? Are you experiencing fear or anxiety? The differences between these responses can be hard to determine since the notions are usually used often without taking the time to explain the differences. Common terms that we use to describe how we feel like: fear of death, fear of the unknown, fear of flying, or fear of failure are most of the time labeled as a so called fear. However, those terms are actually a form of anxiety. Commonly, fear is your brain naturally reacting to situation or stimulus that threatens your safety or security. You can also fear for someone else, per say if a loved one is in danger. A common example, such as being startled by something rustling leaves behind you when you are walking home at night is a sense of fear. Fear is perceiving by the brain as a sense of dread, which is attempting to warn you to the likelihood that you may be physically harmed in some way. This then activates you to turn on your defensive mechanism by giving you a rush of adrenaline which heightens your senses and makes you more aware of your surroundings. ... • 63. Fear And Fear Fear is an element used by authors, screenwriters, playwrights, and artists for many centuries, but it is also something that has eluded explanation. It has long been known that fear affects the brain, and creators use this to make their works memorable, like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Fearful situations are sought after because people like the way their brain reacts. Fearful situations make the brain release chemicals like dopamine, adrenaline, and endorphins. In Allegra Ringo's "Why Do Some Brains Enjoy Fear?", an interview with Dr. Margee Kerr, who earned her PhD in sociology at The University of Pittsburgh, and wrote Scream: Chilling Adventures in the Science of Fear, explaining the psychological process in ... This means some people are going to really enjoy thrilling, scary, and risky situations while others, not so much"(Ringo). While this is why some people enjoy fear, others enjoy fear because "it gives the a sense of confidence after it's over."(Ringo). An example of this was when I went to Disney World in Orlando, Florida for a school band trip, I rode roller coasters for the first time in a long time, because, although they terrified me, I wasn't gonna look like a wimp in front of my friends. After I got past the first few rides I was loving them. I attribute this love to the fact that I was alive to ride it again, which in some cases I did. I felt invincible for a few moments after it was over and I loved it. As it is stated in "What Happens in the Brain When We Feel Fear", an article by Dr. Arash Javanbakht, a board certified psychiatrist, and Dr. Linda Saab, a psychiatry specialist, explains exactly what biological things happen within the brain due to fear, fear also "leads to bodily ... • 65. How Fear Affects Us. Fear How Fear Affects Us fear ˈfir/ noun 1.an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Fear is an emotion or thought that is strange and at times indescribable, but often felt in our everyday lives. It is the profound feeling you get when you feel as if you are being threatened with danger or when you feel that something bad is going to happen. At times, fear can keep you from succeeding or doing what you need to do; it can limit the abilities you have and cause you to procrastinate or make reckless decisions. Anxiety is also another factor of fear, and it is when people are randomly afraid of something, but don't know why they're scared. Fear is an unpleasant and disliked emotion, but at times it is good for people and their safety. Our brain is always looking out for things that can harm us and when detected, it prepares us so that our bodies to avoid danger. In situations where one does not feel any fear, it may endanger them by making one choose to do irresponsible things and make wrong decisions that could lead into self injuries. Therefore, fear is a good factor to have and although it is something awful to feel, it helps you in the incidents needed most. Being afraid of something is when a threatening moment occurs, and our brain is triggered with a stimuli to feel fear. It's when the cells in the brain create a chain reaction starting with a stressful stimulus, then ending with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Fear In Hamlet Hamlet: A Fear–y Tale In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Prince Hamlet does not prove to be the stereotypical perfect prince. Shakespeare's choice in making Hamlet vulnerable, anxious and afraid of the stress of his life allows for the reader to relate to him. Each human experiences fear and its mysteries. However, in order to move forward in life, it is inevitable to face these fears. Indecisive minds, like Hamlet, can grow by taking the time to comprehend their fears, letting the fears guide their thoughts and choosing to use their creative imaginations to make decisions. When people are struggling with making an important decision for their future, they can become paralyzed by their constant questioning. They question their capabilities and the uncertainty of the future makes them anxious. This fear is shown in Hamlet's extensive analysis of his situation. He exhausts every angle of the problem before making a decision. He questions his capability as a leader, his anxiety taking over his thoughts. In Act I Scene 5, Hamlet states, This time is out of joint. O cursed spite, That ever was I born to set it right! (Hamlet, Act 1 Scene 5, line 205). Hamlet's fear is crushing his self–confidence. If he had taken the time to listen to his fears, his anxiety would have decreased. Learning how to analyze fear is an important tool in making wise decisions. According to Karen Walker's TED Talk "What Fear Can Teach Us", "Fears are a form of unintentional storytelling" (5:23). We are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Fear Is The Main Source Of Fear In The Crucible According to Bertrand Russell, "Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom." This shows that fear is a large factor in our lives, if we realize it or not. Fear is caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous and causes an unpleasant feeling. Due to this, the characters in The Crucible took extreme measures to restore the peace in their community. Over the course of my research and connection to The Crucible, I specifically chose to examine the following research question: To what extent does fear affect one's life, as it did in the lives' of the characters in The Crucible? Fear exists in all living things. According to Arthur J. Westermayr, "Even in plant life we can trace evidences that indicate the presence of a natural law operating very much as fear does upon brute instinct and the human mind" (250). Being fearful is an inevitable feeling for everyone, if you're willing to admit it or not. Some people even believe that fear is a weakness and refuse to show it. "If yielding to the domination of fear signifies cowardice, then..., every man at some time, in some way, will prove himself a coward" (Westermayr 251). Therefore, the more you try to deny fear and hold it all in without ever showing it, the more likely you are to end up showing weakness and cowardice. In a way, people like this have a fear of fear. An interesting aspect of fear is that it is different for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Fear And Fear : The Fear Of Fear Some people are afraid of heights; they simply are mortified by them. They're scared to death of even thinking about being in high places, seeing tall buildings or structures and the very worst, actually being at a high elevation. In any of these scenarios people with alto–phobia (the fear of heights) can often get dizzy, experience panic attacks, anxiety and a whole other host of things that would endanger them in certain situations. Luckily, I am not one those people, because if I was, either I wouldn't have a cool story to tell or I'd be dead right now. This little escapade happened when I was around 7 to 8 years old, I'm not entirely sure the age but it was definitely around that period. During that time in the area in which I lived there were these kids who lived really close to me whom I used to muck around with during the summer or whenever. This day in particular was one of those days. My childhood friend Jesiah; who was about two years older than me, wanted to go on one of those adventures we used to go on all the time, so he grabbed another kid (whose name I have forgotten) to come along with us. What we used to do was run through other people's backyards, but it's way more interesting than it sounds, I promise. My house was on a hill, so that the neighbors backyards behind us was almost entirely above my house. Many of their yards had steep climbs, were sometimes very wild, and just fun to run around in and jump from yard to yard. This time, however, we didn't just go into the usual yards we'd go in. For some reason we decided to go one block up and come down to a certain yard that was two houses down, and towered over our house to the point that we could visibly see the roof of the two story house to go around a garage to get to another yard next to it. Now, this would seem tame, if it weren't for the fact that to get around the garage in the first place you had to step on a ledge that was a little less than a foot wide, back against the wall, over a drop that would lower gradually. Mind you this in on the right side, we still hadn't gotten around to the back yet! When we actually reached the back the other kid chickened out and went back to meet us on the other side (which was wise of him, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Fear : The Way I See Fear Batuhan Kir Ms. Evans Honors English II December 14, 2015 What is Fear? The way I see fear is that many people try to run away from it instead of challenging it. Fear makes people run away from ideas, actions, or even goals. Everyone experiences fear whether they are elementary students, college students, or parents. People could fear having to speak in a crowd of others or fear a single human being. Since fear can't fully be defined by a simple sentence, I have decided to define this short but complex word by studying its origins, discussing what fear is not, and giving examples and indications about fear. Furthermore, I will show how the word fear is represented in Night and The Sunflower. (Origin and Causes) The word fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In traumatic events people tend to freeze up or try hiding. It causes to have a rapid heart rate, increases our blood pressure, and increases sweating. We develop fear as an outcome of learning. Due to this we have many events in history that demonstrate why we people fear. Can you forget the Africans who were forced to come to the Americas? Didn't they fear the people who were treating them like they had no value? How about the Jews? The Jewish people feared getting captured and killed for their beliefs by the Nazis. In the book Night, we can see that the Jews clearly feared death and did anything in their power to survive. Elie even had thoughts to take his father's rations at point so he could live longer although his father was the main reason why he was trying to survive. In the book Night the narrator states "I thought deep down, not daring to admit it to myself. Too late to save your old father ... You could have two rations of bread, two rations of soup." (Wiesel 111). This shows that Elie feared death so much that he forgot what kept him alive in the first place. (Examples and Incidents) Additionally, in today's society we can see people fear religion. There are some people in the U.S that are Islamophobic which means they fear a whole religion. The people who fear the whole religion itself are ignorant. They believe that what ISIS is doing is what the religion asks for, when what they are doing is completely ... • 75. The Fear Of Fear People fear how others will judge them for the way they act which results in locking them in their comfort zone forever. Once people fail, they fear to try it again because the uncertainty acts as a mental block which prevents them from trying to do it again. Fear can hinder individuals from their true potential. In the poem, "Before i got my eye put out" illustrates a self reflection of Emily Dickinson on reminiscing on the lost of her eyesight. Dickinson tries to remember what it was like having her eyesight and completely feels as if she is lost and had hit the very bottom. Fear has taken over her from starting again and remembering that life is not over. Humans are able to get through and grow to their potential by taking risks and starting from new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, people who take the big leap and face their fears tend to experiment greater things in life as they experience more. These experiences allow for more exposure to unfamiliar ideas and as a result, they become more open minded. Personally, I have experienced something similar to this in volleyball. During my freshman year, I had always dreamed of becoming a starter. However, volleyball was different from a certain task that I needed to perfect. It was a sport where I found myself needing to face my fears of messing up to end up making mistakes and taking those mistakes and apply what I learn in different situations. In Emily Dickinson's poem, "we Grow Accustomed to the Dark," she expounds the idea how "the Bravest – grope a little – And sometimes hit a Tree Directly in the Forehead – But as they learn to see – Either the Darkness alters – Or something in the sight Adjust itself to Midnight – And Life steps almost straight" (Dickinson 13–20). This emphasizes that obstacles in life are the first concern when it comes to making a decision. Those obstacles should not fear or stop them from doing what they love to ... • 77. The Fear Of Snakes : The Fear Of Snakes You're walking in your garden and then you stop. There you see it. It's a snake. The snake notices you and you begin to sweat, and your heart beats faster, and you're ready to run but any sudden moves could result with you being hurt or worse. Instead of staying safe, you run for it, because you start to freak out. If this is like you, you may have ophidiophobia. Ophidiophobia is the fear of snakes. There can be many causes of ophidiophobia. According to "Fear of Snakes Phobia – Ophidiophobia" by Jacob Olesen, "[A]Traumatic episode[s] in the past such as accidently stepping on a snake or being bitten, hissed at or otherwise threatened by snakes might have lead to one's Ophidiophobia." A traumatic episode could cause ophidiophobia because if a person were bitten by a snake, then they might be scared of snakes because they might get worried that all snake would bite them; that person wouldn't want to be bitten by a snake again. For example someone might be walking along a hiking trail when they step on a snake. The snake probably doesn't like that so it bites the person. After they get bitten, they wouldn't want to be bitten again so they freak out when they see a snake again because it might remind them of being bitten. Jacob Olesen also says "Media reports and TV shows can also lead one to believe that snakes are always dangerous leading to Ophidiophobia." This might lead to ophidiophobia because it might show someone being attacked by a snake; it might lead them to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
