This is a powerpoint presentation that discusses about the background or origin of Greek Mythology; it is all about the myth that explains the Creation story of the Greeks. It also includes the summary of the myth and the characters involved.
2. In the beginning, Chaos, rules the entire universe. Chaos gave birth
to two children that was named Erebus, the unknowable place where
death dwell, and Night, the darkness of the Earth. Chaos also gave
birth to Gaea, Goddess of the Earth and the mother of all creation.
She gave birth to Uranus, the primordial god of the sky, the son and
husband of Gaea. Gaea and Uranus gave birth to the Titans, a race
of deities that have incredible strength. They have 12 Titan children
namely: (Female) Mnemosyne, Tethys, Theia, Phoebe, Rhea and
Themis; (Male) Oceanus, Hyperion, Coeus, Cronus, Crius and
Iapetus. They also have Cyclope and Hecantonchires children
However, Uranus proved to be a cruel, husband father. He pushed
the Hecantonchires into the womb of Gaea because of his hatred.
3. Because of this, Gaea asks her children to rebel against their father.
Only one dares to rebel against Uranus, Cronus, the last child of
Gaea and Uranus and the God of Harvest. Gaea created a sickle and
gave it to Cronus. When Cronus lied in his bed without Gaea, Cronus
was waiting. He then grabbed the genitals of his father and severed
them with the sickle. As the blood fell into the Earth and in its
inhabitants such as the Furies, who punishes crime, the Ash-Tree
nymphs and the Race of Giants were created. Also it paved the way
for the creation of Aphrodite. Uranus had either perished or withdrew
from the Earth. Before he did that, Uranus gave a prophecy to
Cronus, that one of his own sons will dethrone him.
