Creekview High School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
The overall topic of my Senior Project is Online Tutoring and Web Design.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
My previous experience in Web Design is a minute amount of knowledge and practice in coding
HTML and Ruby on Rails.
3) To what career will you connect this project?
The skills needed in the project are vital for software programming and web-page design.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on
the back of this sheet if necessary.
In order to complete my product, I will first have to require a domain name and a server to host
the website from. Secondly, I will spend much time researching and practicing methods of code
writing in order to build the website. I will need to find out what methods and scripts work and
also take time to try different options to ensure that the website is user-friendly. Lastly, I will
find ways to advertise the page around my school, perhaps the the Bearly News or some fliers
posted around the halls. Once the news is out, special monitoring of the website will need to
be installed, which will keep track of every chat and post the students make. Please note, the
website is for online peer tutoring, not for answer sharing or cheating.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This project will be a learning stretch for me because learning code for Web Design is
essentially like learning a new language.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
The estimated costs for this project are miniscule. The only expense will be approximately 20
dollars that I will use to purchase a domain name, which I will pay for out of pocket.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
2. My project facilitator will be Todd Dickerson.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Todd Dickerson’s experience in Web Design is far superior to mine. Software programming and
Web Design is how he earns a living, and he owns over 200 domain names, along with several
programs he has written on his own.
