Plagiarism:
Where there is evidence of plagiarism the assignment will be
rejected and the candidate will not have an opportunity to re-
submit the work. This will, inevitably, jeopardise your chances
of completing the unit.
Deadlines:
Work that is not handed in on time will be subject to College
policy on late submission of work and may not be graded or
marked. This could result in you failing the course unless there
are exceptional circumstances which must be explained with
evidence to your tutor and agreed by the Curriculum Manager.
Referral of Assignments:
Questions marked “Pxx” need to be completed successfully to
achieve a Pass grade. Only then can you achieve a Merit grade
by completing the question(s) marked “Mxx”, and a Distinction
by completing the question(s) marked “Dxx” in addition to the
Merit questions(s). Where this identification of possible higher
grades does not exist the general higher grades descriptors,
which follow, will apply.
Work not meeting the minimum requirement for pass grade will
be referred back to the learner who will have TWO weeks to
rectify any shortcoming.
All decisions or grades are subject to internal and/ or external
verification and may be modified. If you feel that an assessment
decision is unjustified, you are entitled to appeal.
For further details on any of the above please refer to your

CASE SCENARIO:
WebSol Ltd is a software development company, whose work
includes, but is not limited to, developing bespoke software
packages for clients on various computing hardware and
software platforms ranging from Desktop, Mobile-phones,
Embedded and Web-based applications. The following are
among the types of software packages that they develop: games,
multimedia, education and business software.
As a staff member of WebSol Ltd you have been asked to
initialise, design, develop and deploy an online system to fulfil
a client’s needs. You have been assigned a project which
involves leading a team of five other staff members. Your task
is to create a website for Diamond Group. As an initial step,
you have to respond to Diamond Group’s invitation to propose,
design and construct a website.
In responding to the invitation, your manager has given you the
option to choose a case study in the following areas: travel,
business, media, sports, or education.
Your proposal should include a discussion of issues relevant to
Diamond Group’s use of the website.
Tasks
Task 1: - Design a website according to the needs of a user.
Identify the requirements/purpose of the website and list a set
of objectives that it must fulfil:
• State what the website is about and state the target
audience.
• State the content of the site. Briefly describe what sort of
pages it will contain.
• Discuss the needs of the user in regards to the website
(e.g. complexity, colour etc).
• Discuss the level of security needed.
• Discuss the resources required, the costs and the timescale
needed to create the website.
Produce a design for the website using a storyboard method.
Produce a series of annotated interface designs. Mention the
layout techniques and other relevant information such as the
colour schemes, images and material to be displayed on the site.
Pseudo code for scripts can be used. [p2.1]
Task 2: Evaluate the website design with other users.
Ask a couple of potential users to look at your design and then
ask them to provide constructive feedback via (at least) a
questionnaire that you must produce. Consider the changes that
were suggested and implement them into your design if they are
appropriate. [p2.2]
Task 3:
Implement the website according to the design specification.
[P3.1]
Evidence must be shown in the form of a set of screenshots and
printed source code. The code must be commented.
The website must have a minimum of seven pages and one of
the pages should be an onscreen help page. [P4.4]
You must use HTML, CSS & JavaScript to develop your site.
M2can be obtained by adding some extra features on the
existing WebPages that realistically improves the overall
system. Relevant codes and annotated screenshots must be
provided along for the added features.
Task 4:
a) Create a test plan and test your website according to the
points listed below (where appropriate). [P4.1]
b) Analyze actual test result against expected results to identify
any discrepancies and create a test report based on the test
results. [P4.2]
Include the following in your test documentation. Testing to be
carried out, expected results, actual result, work needed to
correct problems & evidence for testing.
· Layout matches design.
· Browser compatibility.
· W3C code validation.
· Links and buttons.
· Images.
· Scripts (e.g.: JavaScript)
· Forms – including validation
· Security (e.g. login forms with passwords)
· Error handling
c) Write an evaluation to discuss whether your completed
website is matching with the recommended design. Review the
following areas: Usability, performance & security. Obtain
evidence from the client stating their satisfaction level for the
produced website and make recommendations for maintenance
and improvements. [P4.3]
D1: can be obtained by writing a strong evaluation that
discusses realistic and relevant improvements that could have
been made to the overall system.
Task 6: Produce a complete documentation for the implemented
website including the help page mentioned and any suggested
improvements that could be made to the website and submit it.
Provide annotated screenshots where appropriate. [P4.5] [M3]
A high quality report must be submitted on time to achieve D2.
EXTENSION TASK: Realisticallyextend the given scenario and
add other functions that could be implemented into the Website
created (e.g. converting Static WebPages Dynamic WebPages)
along with relevant screenshots of codes amended, the
screenshots of the results/new features added, relevant test plan,
test report and evaluation of the new system to achieve D3.
Students are required to do the following:
· The assignment should be submitted with contents page and
bibliography (Please provide Harvard referencing).
· A4 size white paper;
· Fonts AriaI size 12
· 3 cm margins on the left hand side and 2.5 cm margins on the

pages;
· Double spacing, except in the case of direct quotations which
should be single line spaced and indented on both the right and
left hand sides (see the examples in the section on referencing);
· A line must be left between each paragraph and paragraphs
must not be indented;
· All pages must be numbered. Page numbered in the centre at
the bottom of each page; your assignment must be plastic bind
only. It is preferable to print your assignment double sided.
· All screenshots, diagrams/figures, tables, source codes need to
be clearly explained and where applicable annotated. All the
analysis must follow a specific methodology.
· You are required to submit to achieve pass criteria are:
· Identify the requirements/purpose of the website and design
the website based on that while meeting the given criteria.
· Design the interactive website using story board.
· Produce a questionnaire to get user feedback evaluate the
Web Page design and make necessary changes to the designs
based on the feedback given(if they are appropriate).

the above scenario and provide evidence using relevant
screenshots and source codes.
· Testing must be done to prove the points given in Task 4.
Provide evidence via annotated screenshots and source code
(where appropriate).
· Describe your system’s capabilities against user requirements
together with discussing possible future improvements without
affecting the existing one.
· Analyze actual test result against expected results to identify
any discrepancies and create a test report based on the test
results.
· Test the implemented website against the design produced.
Provide evidence via annotated screenshots and source code
(where appropriate).
· Obtain critical feedback from a user of your website and use it
to suggest improvements that could be made to the website.
· Develop an onscreen help page to support the users which
should be free from technicalities.
· Produce a complete documentation for the implemented
website including the help page mentioned and any suggested
improvements that could be made to the website and submit it.
Spelling
Use U.K. English spellings unless using a direct quotation from
a non-U.K. English source (e.g., U.S. English journal). Also, in
the references, use the original spellings of journals (e.g.,
Journal of Sport Behavior rather than Journal of Sport
Behaviour).
· Text, diagrams and tables copied from online sources
and/books needs to be referenced using quotation marks and
page numbers and date.

This will, inevitably, jeopardise your chances of completing the unit. Deadlines: Work that is not handed in on time will be subject to College policy on late submission of work and may not be graded or marked. This could result in you failing the course unless there are exceptional circumstances which must be explained with evidence to your tutor and agreed by the Curriculum Manager. Referral of Assignments: Questions marked “Pxx” need to be completed successfully to achieve a Pass grade. Only then can you achieve a Merit grade by completing the question(s) marked “Mxx”, and a Distinction by completing the question(s) marked “Dxx” in addition to the Merit questions(s). Where this identification of possible higher grades does not exist the general higher grades descriptors, which follow, will apply. Work not meeting the minimum requirement for pass grade will be referred back to the learner who will have TWO weeks to rectify any shortcoming. All decisions or grades are subject to internal and/ or external verification and may be modified. If you feel that an assessment decision is unjustified, you are entitled to appeal.

You have been assigned a project which involves leading a team of five other staff members. Your task is to create a website for Diamond Group. As an initial step, you have to respond to Diamond Group’s invitation to propose, design and construct a website. In responding to the invitation, your manager has given you the option to choose a case study in the following areas: travel, business, media, sports, or education. Your proposal should include a discussion of issues relevant to Diamond Group’s use of the website. Tasks Task 1: - Design a website according to the needs of a user. Identify the requirements/purpose of the website and list a set of objectives that it must fulfil: • State what the website is about and state the target audience. • State the content of the site. Briefly describe what sort of pages it will contain. • Discuss the needs of the user in regards to the website (e.g. complexity, colour etc). • Discuss the level of security needed. • Discuss the resources required, the costs and the timescale needed to create the website. Produce a design for the website using a storyboard method. Produce a series of annotated interface designs. Mention the layout techniques and other relevant information such as the colour schemes, images and material to be displayed on the site. Pseudo code for scripts can be used. [p2.1] Task 2: Evaluate the website design with other users.
  • 10. Ask a couple of potential users to look at your design and then ask them to provide constructive feedback via (at least) a questionnaire that you must produce. Consider the changes that were suggested and implement them into your design if they are appropriate. [p2.2] Task 3: Implement the website according to the design specification. [P3.1] Evidence must be shown in the form of a set of screenshots and printed source code. The code must be commented. The website must have a minimum of seven pages and one of the pages should be an onscreen help page. [P4.4] You must use HTML, CSS & JavaScript to develop your site. M2can be obtained by adding some extra features on the existing WebPages that realistically improves the overall system. Relevant codes and annotated screenshots must be provided along for the added features. Task 4: a) Create a test plan and test your website according to the points listed below (where appropriate). [P4.1] b) Analyze actual test result against expected results to identify any discrepancies and create a test report based on the test results. [P4.2] Include the following in your test documentation. Testing to be carried out, expected results, actual result, work needed to correct problems & evidence for testing. · Layout matches design. · Browser compatibility. · W3C code validation.
  • 11. · Links and buttons. · Images. · Scripts (e.g.: JavaScript) · Forms – including validation · Security (e.g. login forms with passwords) · Error handling c) Write an evaluation to discuss whether your completed website is matching with the recommended design. Review the following areas: Usability, performance & security. Obtain evidence from the client stating their satisfaction level for the produced website and make recommendations for maintenance and improvements. [P4.3] D1: can be obtained by writing a strong evaluation that discusses realistic and relevant improvements that could have been made to the overall system. Task 6: Produce a complete documentation for the implemented website including the help page mentioned and any suggested improvements that could be made to the website and submit it. Provide annotated screenshots where appropriate. [P4.5] [M3] A high quality report must be submitted on time to achieve D2. EXTENSION TASK: Realisticallyextend the given scenario and add other functions that could be implemented into the Website created (e.g. converting Static WebPages Dynamic WebPages) along with relevant screenshots of codes amended, the screenshots of the results/new features added, relevant test plan, test report and evaluation of the new system to achieve D3.
