5. Demonstrative Adjectives
• Demonstrative adjectives point out a specific
noun. Like regular adjectives, they must agree
in NUMBER and in GENDER with the noun
they describe. Unlike regular adjectives, they
go BEFORE the noun.
6. 3 Kinds of Demonstrative Adjectives
• One that points out someone or something
NEAR the speaker. (This or These)
• One that points out someone or something
FARTHER AWAY. (That or Those)
• One that points out someone or something AT
A GREAT DISTANCE. (That over there or Those
over there)
7. To point out something NEAR the
speaker, use: este, esta, estos, or estas

8. To point out something FARTHER away
from the speaker use:
ese, esa, esos, esas

9. To point out something at a great
distance from the speaker use:

10. Demonstrative Pronouns
• Demonstratives can also be pronouns that
take the place of nouns. They have the same
number and gender of the noun they replace
and have a written accent over the “e”.
• EXAMPLE:
Esta clase es fácil. This class is easy.
Ésta es fácil. This one is easy.
