2. IMAGE BEFORE EDIT
➤This is the main photo I used for
my film poster.
➤It is a side angle mid shot of the
main character of the film.
➤The expression of a side angle
smirk whilst remaining direct mode
of dress creates an unpredictable
feeling of the character. It shows he
is curious whilst also unsure. This
helps to not give too much away
about the character but make the
audience question him and want to
watch the film.
➤The eye contact entices the
audience in and makes them feel
apart of the film and character.
3. IMAGE AFTER EDIT
➤ Using Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 I edited the image of
Adam for the film poster.
➤ I began by cutting out Adam’s head from the
background using the ‘Quick Selection Tool’ and
zooming in to make sure there was no background and
it seemed seamless. This is so it would blend in with the
dark background more and fits in with other horror
magazines.
➤ I also smoothed out Adam’s skin using different tools
including inverting, using High Pass, Gaussian Blur,
Spot Healing Tool and the Brush Tool. This is
conventional to do to make the character seem more
smooth and seamless and show a lack of imperfections.
➤ Using the Brush Tool in black using different opacities I
shaded in around the side of his head to make it blend
in with the black background so it looked like a
professional magazine.
➤ Finally I adjusted the image using brightness, contrast,
shadows, highlights, saturation and vibrance. I made
him look more saturated with colour in his face whilst
also quite contested to emphasise all his features. This
is due to him contrasting with the other image of Josh to
sow good VS evil.
4. IMAGE BEFORE EDIT
➤ This was the other image used
for the film poster.
➤ It is a side angle mid shot of
one of the main characters of
the film.
➤ As he is the serial killer in the
film, we wanted his expression
to be harsh and daunting with
a disgusted look on his face.
➤ The direct mode of dress used
makes the audience feel
watched by him and draws
them into the character.
5. IMAGE AFTER EDIT
➤ Using Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 I edited the image of Josh for
the film poster.
➤ I began by cutting out Josh’s head from the background using
the ‘Quick Selection Tool’ and zooming in to make sure there
was no background and it seemed seamless. This is so it would
blend in with the dark background more and fits in with other
horror magazines.
➤ I also smoothed out Josh’s skin using different tools including
inverting, using High Pass, Gaussian Blur, Spot Healing Tool and
the Brush Tool. This is conventional to do to make the character
seem more smooth and seamless and show a lack of
imperfections.
➤ With the ‘Brush Tool’ in black I shaded around Josh’s head so it
blended in with the background so it became part of it and look
more mysterious with him in the shadows, linking to the horror
genre.
➤ i adjusted the image using brightness, contrast, shadows,
highlights, saturation and vibrance. I made the highlights a lot
lower to give more shadows and dimension to his face to make
him look more frightening.
➤ I later decided I did not want Josh in a suit as it does not fit with
his character as much so using my own image of a black hoodie I
positioned this on top of his clothing and embedded it onto the
image to make it look like he was wearing a hoodie to fit with
his character.
6. IMAGE BEFORE EDIT
➤ This photo will be used on the
bottom of my film poster.
➤ It was taken in the woods where
one of the main scenes in the
film happens.
➤ It is used to show importance to
the audience to link the
characters with the location in
the film and draws them into
the storyline more.
➤ The image looked too bright for
a horror poster and didn't fit
with the other images so I edited
it.
7. ➤ I edited this image on Adobe Photoshop CC 2017.
➤ I cropped the image to make it landscape as well as using the
‘Grayscale Mode’ to make it black and white and fit with conventions
of other horror posters.
➤ To blend the image with the background I used the ‘Brush Tool’ and
faded the edges around the image.
