What Makes A Superheros
Superheros are Lit/Superheros Characteristics When I was 10 years old I really got into superheros
when I saw Batman begins for the first time I loved the fact that Batman went through so much
training to become a hero to find who killed his parents and Batman was a billionaire who wanted to
help his city come back to the way it was before his parents died. The best superheroes have certain
traits that make them unique from other superheroes for example superheroes have some sort of
power or have a great story line also they have double lives keeping two identities. Some
superheroes have superpowers and some do not, but some of the best superheroes have powers such
as the Flash, Superman and Deadpool. Flash is a superhero who has the ability to run as fast as the
speed of light this makes him a great superhero because he has to learn to live with his powers and
keep his powers out of his real life and not let anyone know he's the Flash. Deadpool has the ability
to regrow body parts this makes him a great hero because he does not care for his powers he wants
to get rid of them, but he acts like a villain, but is a hero so he adds comedy to his character which
allows people to connect with him more. Superman has the powers to fly and shoot lasers out his
eyes this is just awesome who does not like a character than can shoot lasers from ... Show more

In the future there might be different characteristics that make superheroes good the hero's might
change there could be new heroes that everyone is talking about and these might not be relevant
anymore. They all should still contain some of these main traits of a superhero, but not all
superheroes have these traits, some are very different some are very similar. The superheroes might
not even change, but if they do, they would still need to follow the footsteps of other heroes to be

'The Law Of Attraction Is Nonsense'
The Secret
"None of the secrets of success work unless you do."– Anonymous
Well, if you believe in the secret and you think about success, eventually it will walk right to you.
Ha! Really? Well, if that's really what you believe you are in for a rude awakening. However, for the
rest of us, we will be over here working our butts off to make a change in our lives and working for
said secrets of success. In 2006, a movie–like documentary, The Secret, created by Rhonda Byrne,
was made about the Law of Attraction that said that if you think about positive things, like instead of
bills you are getting checks, those things will eventually happen. People should not believe in this
because, The Secret is blaming the victims, and it's pretty much ... Show more content on

It basically states that rape victims and victims of shootings, disease, and being born into third world
countries, is their fault and nobody else's. "Homelessness, poverty, famine, bullies, political
squabbles, natural disasters, sickness, disease, rape, incest, and ultimately, death. According to the
Law of Attraction, you're limiting beliefs and thoughts "attract" a tornado to wipe out your house."
Joel Comm writes in "The Law of Attraction is Nonsense". Nobody has any control of being born
into third world countries, its like the luck of the draw, and these people chose the short straw, that's
not their fault. There have been rallies and protests about the fact that it isn't the victim's fault that
they were raped. Men, women, and kids suffer from all sorts of cancer and other diseases, the Law
of Attraction says they called it upon themselves, little innocent kids who probably have done
nothing bad in their short lives, and now they can die, they called it upon themselves, really? What
about the kids and adults who are victims to mass shootings? Did they just think about the worst
case scenario for days at a time and they just happened because of negative thoughts? Well clearly,
no, they didn't call themselves to be killed, if nobody thought about dying in there life then nobody
would die, um, yeah

The Secret Window And Dissociative Identity Disorder
The Secret Window and Dissociative Identity Disorder The Secret Window is a film released in
2004 directed by David Koepp and written by Stephen King. The main issue in this film is one of a
psychological basis which keeps the audience on their toes and maybe even slightly confused until
all of the pieces fit together at the end of the film. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the
psychological issue that plagues the main character, Mort Rainey (portrayed by Johnny Depp), and
identify any biases or misinformation presented in the film. Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID),
formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder, is a psychological issue that is quite debilitating
to the affected individual. Symptoms of this disorder often mimic those of other physical and mental
disorders such as seizure disorder, substance abuse, and post–traumatic stress disorder
("Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)", 2012). The distinguishing
symptom of Dissociative Identity Disorder, however, is the presence of two or more distinct
identities that alternately take control of the individual and this symptom is the main basis and plot
of The Secret Window. In addition, the person is plagued by memory losses that cannot be explained
by ordinary forgetfulness and may even find items that he or she doesn't remember buying.
("Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)", 2014). Also, the individual may
experience unexplained changes in eating

Tangerine Paul Fisher Character Analysis
Secrets in Tangerine The definition of secret is "something that is kept or meant to be kept unknown
or unseen by others" (Unknown). Secrets are a crucial part of the dramatic, young adult–fiction
novel, Tangerine written by Edward Bloor. Tangerine is placed in Tangerine County Florida. Paul
Fisher is the main character and Mr. and Mrs. Fisher, his brother Erik and his friend Arthur are
valuable to the story as well. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher have kept the secret of Paul's eyesight hidden for
long enough that Paul no longer sees through the innocent eyes he once had. Furthermore, in the

knew what had happened, "When you got home from the hospital that day, did you see the white

decision was made after the doctor informed them that Paul would not be blind, and would most

Essay Buried Child
It's amazing what a secret can do to a person. Keeping secrets among friends can be fun, or helpful
when you need to confide in someone you trust. Other secrets can do more harm than good. They
can fester inside you and cause endless pain. In "Buried Child," this is the
case. The family is permanently altered by their secret, which becomes a growing moral cancer to
them, leaving each impotent in their own way.
The play takes place on Dodge's farm. About thirty years ago, the farm was fertile and prosperous.
Dodge and Halie didn't have a wonderful marriage, however. Things took a turn for the worse when
Halie became pregnant with someone else. It is suggested that Tilden is the father. The evidence to

She's stolen my leg!" (p. 120) He can't even try to get it, just reach out and whine like a
baby. He seems incapable of even adult reasoning.
There is a major difference in the effect this impotence has on Bradley and Tilden. While Bradley
denies the truth, telling Tilden he doesn't know, he wasn't born yet, Tilden is on an active search for
the body of this child. Bradley wants the secret to remain a secret. Tilden wants it out in the open,
wants the closure, even if subconsciously. That's why he finds corn, carrots, and potatoes out in the
fields, while Bradley and the others see only the rain.
The land represents the soul, and is fertile for Tilden because in his way he is seeking to right this
terrible wrong by revealing the child. When Tilden covers Dodge with the corn husks, but leaves his
head uncovered, he is covering him with something good that the land, or in this case his maimed
soul, has produced. He is trying to help Dodge to realize that the truth must be told. Bradley comes
into the room and throws the husks off, shaves Dodge's head and cuts him while he is helpless, like
a punishment for the secret. Then he covers him up, head and all, with the

The Importance Of Keeping Secrets
Over the years, many individuals have kept secrets to themselves, whether it becomes a negative or
positive outcome. Everyone has secrets, it's all around us. Your brain doesn't like to keep secrets
since it increases the levels of stress hormones in your body. Many think that secrets should not be
kept hidden because it can result in health problems such as complications in your brain's orbital
prefrontal cortex. Keeping secrets usually results in a harmful way. It's not easy to keep something
important from the people you care about without telling a few lies. It's better to confess your
secrets as a result of feeling confident and not having to hide any information. Telling the truth is
generally a better thing to do instead of keeping secrets which leads to unnecessary amounts of
drama.
Keeping secrets are harmful because your health can be at risk due to high amounts of stress levels
which places you in a difficult position. For example, in the article, "Keeping Secrets Can Be
Hazardous To Your Health", it says, " your brain's orbital prefrontal cortex stimulates in your mind
just how bad sharing the secret will be" ..."the cortex becomes stressed." This quote is relevant
because it shows that your brain won't function in a proper way due to all the stress you're
experiencing. Keeping the secret private for a long time will cause severe damage to your brain and
mental health. Furthermore, in an article, " Science Shows Something Surprising About Adults Who
Still Keep

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.'s The Lie – Mirrors Don't Lie
In The Lie by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Eli Remenzel is a thirteen–year–old boy on his way to The
Whitehill Preparatory School with his parents. Little do they know that Eli is keeping a big secret
from them: he didn't get accepted to the school. As the story unfolds Eli finally cracks under the
pressure of the lie as the headmaster informs his parents that he wasn't accepted at Whitehill. What

characters that are traits I see in myself. Eli, his mother Sylvia, and his father Doctor Remenzel all

I really dislike this trait in myself, so when I read it in Eli I took an immediate disliking to his
character in trying to suppress my own feelings about myself. But this is not the only flaw I noticed
about myself from the story.
Eli's mother Sylvia and I also have a lot in common. Through out the entire story she was enraptured
in talking about how many Remenzels had attended the Whitehill School and what contributions
they had made to it. She stated during one part of the drive to the school:
I look through this catalog, and I see all the buildings named after Remenzels, look through the back
and see all the hundreds of dollars given by Remenzels for scholarships, and I just can't help
thinking people named Remenzel are entitled to ask for a little something extra.
She was, infact, so enthralled by this information and talking of the school that she failed to notice
the strange and awkward behavior of her son. Again, it took reading the story a few times to
understand that this is another unattractive quality that I possess. I have the ability to become overly
involved in things and I forget to pay attention and listen to the people around me. What particularly
stood out in my mind and made me aware of this similarity was Sylvia's excessive repetition of the
word I. To me it represents her attention only being focused on what she

Common Characters Of Hellman And Batman, Iron Man And Batman
What is a comic book hero, and why do they struggle so much with their identities? A common
definition for a hero is "a person admired for achievements and noble qualities". However, as we all
may know comic book heroes are vastly different from this. Throughout our lives almost everybody
has been exposed to the comic book hero or superhero that our society seems so obsessed over. We
love to read about and watch these fantastical characters' fly around and save the day. But there is
one unsettling truth that is seen in almost every comic book hero, their secret identity and everything
it holds. Perhaps the biggest secret for each of these heroes is their identity. This secret can mean life
or death not only them but all of their loved ones as well, and all that is protecting them is a little
fabric mask on their face. This since of fear that each character must live with is underlining theme
that takes place in virtually all comic book hero stories. So as the readers of these comics and
watchers of these movies, we must ask ourselves as how can such powerful people live in such a
state of fear? In addition to this, can this use of a heroes alter ego be compared to us normal people
and our alter egos that we create online? In order to answer how these heroes can live in such a state
of fear I want to look at two common characters from both comics and the movies, Iron Man and
Batman. First I would like to clarify that while comic books are such a rich part of our history, due

How the Theme of Knowledge Helps to Explain Frankenstein...
Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, raises important questions as to how the theme of knowledge helps to
explain the story. The main focus of Frankenstein is the power of knowledge and how dangerous it
can be. This power is portrayed in the main characters of the novel: Victor Frankenstein and the
monster. The theme of knowledge helps to answer the question as to why Victor decides to tell
Walton his secret. Both of these characters reveal a passion of discovery and intellect, which Victor
has made his past and Walton only his future. Their obsessions of knowledge are mirrored in one
another through the journeys they take until their paths cross. Finally, the question of the concluding

He is so consumed by keeping his secret safe; his loved ones are murdered as a result. For example,
Henry Clervel has his life taken as an outcome of Victor's betrayal to the creature. Victor's failure to
warn Henry creates increasing guilt which continues until the death of Elizabeth. He thinks of
himself instead of logically warning his wife of the monster's dangerous threats, "I shall be with you
on your wedding–night." (176) Right until Victor's death, science is viewed as the only way of
knowledge, as quoted, "the more fully I entered into the science, the more exclusively I pursued it
for its own sake." (77) This knowledge is ultimately used against him; the monster knows what
Victor is capable of and uses his ability of creating life as a threat to make a new creature to acquaint
the monster. As Victor contemplates this idea, he is also threatened by the possibility of new life
being created, "... a race of devils would be propagated upon the earth" (174) which dictate his
actions in destroying the wife of the creature. Knowledge ultimately consumes Victor. The power of
knowledge is portrayed in the monster because of his ability in absorbing intelligence from the
environment and applying it to the applicable situations. Victor built the creature as an overgrown,
hideous "baby" with immense physical traits. Victor quotes, "I had been the author of unalterable

Identity And Identity In Divergent, By Veronica Roth
How would you feel if the rest of your life was chosen for you based on a simulation? How would
you feel if you were to choose to become brave, honest, selfless, compassionate, or intelligent?
What if the choice you made meant that you would never be able to visit your family again? In a
rigidly structured, dystopian futuristic Chicago in a book called Divergent there is a young woman
named Beatrice Prior ("Tris") that will make the ultimate choice. This book is written by Veronica
Roth, who writes young adult fiction, specifically the Divergent series followed by Insurgent and
Allegiant. In the book Divergent the characters' choices are strongly impacted by the societies they
live in. This society is broken into five factions: Abnegation, Erudite, Candor, Dauntless, and Amity,
each specializing in a specific character trait such as selflessness, bravery, intelligence, honesty, and
compassion. Children are brought up in their own factions, learning the values of their people, until
they turn sixteen where they choose which faction they'll belong to for the rest of their life. Tris

Throughout the book, Tris tries to figure out who she is. But her identity isn't just about what's
inside. It's also about her relationships with family and friends (and society in general). Her main
identity is that she's Divergent. That means no matter how much she tries to fit in, none of the
factions will truly define who she is. "As of yesterday, I technically became Dauntless, but I don't
feel like one. And I am not Abnegation, either. I guess I am what I have always been. Not Dauntless,
not Abnegation, not factionless. Divergent." (Roth 205–6) She is forced to make difficult choices
throughout the book. In the first and last chapter of the book, the author illustrates that identity is a

The Importance Of Secret Identity Or Stolen Identity
Secret Identity or Stolen Identity
How many, in this group has a computer, phone, and/or a tablet? How many have a mobile internet
connection, or a local internet connection available for you to use? If you said yes to any of those,
then it is likely you have an email address, you have given your home address on a website, entered
credit card information, and possibly do online banking. Life is filled with hoops, jumps, and
seemingly impossible boundaries. However, when including technology, it allows an extra
vulnerability to you. Unfortunately, some of those vulnerabilities are directly related to people with
only one goal, to cause problems. In the growing world of technology, the ability to steal personal
information is becoming much easier than ever before. With society switching to the cyber world as
a more convenient way of life, it is imperative to take the proper methods for protecting your
information.
Before taking the proper methods, it's important to know what the criminal does to steal your
information. The criminal uses malware, short for malicious software, which is any form of software
being used against the user's permission. Forms of malware, such as ransomware, spyware, and root
kits are some you may heard of, but are only a portion of the tools used to steal a user's precious
information. A hacker can use his computer at all hours of the week to dig for information that a user
leaves unprotected. If the user is not carefully and well prepared, the hacker

My childhood memories are saturated with magic and intrigue, and fantastical fabrications of my
imagination that felt so vivid that I can hardly remember them as anything but real. Childhood was
full of exciting adventures; bounding around the garden as a magnificent dragon, roaring with arms

It was then that the Secret Ghost Club truly earned its name; I wasn't prepared to give up my

that they too read comic books under the disguise of a textbook! These people will be the ones the

And as another symbol, superheroes are often depicted of as secret identities of people who try to
act normal and yet conceal great power to help others, like for instance Clark Kent and Superman.
Thus seeing the protagonist's obsession with superheroes and his fantasies of exacting justice upon
the bully implies that he too wishes he were like that, that he could use that power stand up and not
be afraid. His superhero persona also has a star–shaped mouth hole evocative of Captain America,
who has stars proudly portrayed all over his outfit that symbolizes truth, justice, and freedom.
Of course, depending on their background, someone in the target age group may develop an
opposing position to some of the scenes depicted. For instance, some may think that the depiction of
bullying is wholly inaccurate and misleading, as actual physical violence is rare and usually only
occurs in private areas. Rather, bullying is usually emotional or verbal, like spreading rumours or
name calling, as that's more subtle and likely to pass under teachers' or other students' radars. As
well, the look the bully gives the protagonist at the end as he leads his crush away is one of
contempt and anger, and one may interpret that as a desire for revenge. If so, one

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty Theme Of Identity
In the short story/movie,The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, there are many important themes some of
which are obvious to see such as dreams/reality, identity or even confrontation, the most prevalent
however is inner satisfaction. Throughout the beginning of the film Walter daydreams multiple times
a day, sometimes even during a conversation. All of his dreams involve him being the protagonist or
hero of a story. Other people notice when he daydreams, often trying to get his attention, but once
he's in one it is proven difficult to snap him out of it. Walter knows he daydreams, but he only
realizes this after it is over, this is found out after Walter tries to jump out of a helicopter into a boat,
but misses and subsequently falls into shark

meaning of life is to be, to become someone to mean something. Identity is narrowed down to

Examples Of Secrets In Romeo And Juliet
Everyone has secrets, but there are times where their secrets must retire. There are many examples
found in the play Romeo & Juliet by Shakespeare. Romeo & Juliet is a love story between Romeo
Montague and Juliet Capulet staged in Verona, Italy. Due to a family feud, they fear if their
relationship comes to light they would be separated. However, some secrets need to be revealed, or
they can have serious consequences. In reality, there are times when secrets must be told.
Secrets must come to light when they can cause someone to get hurt or die. For example, after Juliet
tries to poison herself after Romeo used his poison, she gives up and tries another option. Juliet

herself after her failed attempt at trying to poison herself by kissing Romeo. Moreover, if Juliet's
relationship with Romeo was not secret she would not be dead. Next, Romeo is looking for poison
from the Apothecary, the Apothecary does not want to sell to Romeo, but he needs the money.
Romeo asserts, "I pay thy poverty, and not thy will" (Shakespeare 5.1.79). Presently, Romeo tells the
Apothecary that he is paying for the poison and not his will to sell it to him. Surely, if the
Apothecary warned Romeo's parents he would still be alive. Meanwhile, Juliet asks the Nurse what
is the masked Romeo's name for she would never find another if he is married. As soon as she learns
of Romeo's Montague blood, she states, "My only love, sprung from my only hate! Too

Differences Between Superman And Superman, Television And...
Cloaked in red and blue, Superman soars above Metropolis. Well known to the public, he is strong,
kind, humble and in love with Lois Lane. Then he gets to work. He puts on some glasses, and he
becomes Clark Kent, a mild–mannered reporter. According to the public, his relationship with Louis
is platonic. Despite being the same person, depending on who you ask, they will give you a very
different description of just one man. The real difference between Superman and Clark Kent isn't a
disguise, but the social context in which he is seen. Much the same as Superman, people can have
multiple identities, or 'frames' of themselves, each coming out in a specific social context. With
social media, these different identities can be created and thrive. On public platforms, the ideal side
of a person is shown, along with their close relationships, but on private sites, they don't have to
worry about dealing with the pressure from others. To put simply, whether you see Superman or
Clark Kent, depends on who is watching him, so it can be argued that the amount of privacy a user
has on a social media platform, greatly impacts how they display themselves, and their relationships
on said platform as well.
Overall, some of the most popular social media platforms are public ones, such as Facebook and
Instagram. Although these sites have different features, one similarity between them is how they can
be used to enforce gender norms . Public sites often involve the user posting photos and

Identity In Kidd's The Secret Life Of Bees
In Kidd's The Secret Life of Bees, the main character Lily feels misplaced in society because of her
lack of a relationship with her mother. Whilst reflecting about her life after the death of her mother
Lily expresses "I was worried so much about how I looked and whether I was doing things right, I
felt half the time I was impersonating a girl instead of really being one," emphasizing how she feels
incommodious due to her lack of a maternal figure (Kidd 9). Having yet to elicit her authentic
identity Lily is dissatisfied with who she is. Yet she remains incapable of discerning the process that
would allow her to embrace her identity, or even unearth who she aspires to become. These
struggles with identity in motherless children, like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their acceptance bestows upon Lily the opportunity to confront her conflicted feelings regarding her
lack of a mother figure. Eventually Lily fully opens up to the sisters about her struggles with
motherhood, and they, in return, help her make peace with her past. In a moment of clarity Lily
states to the Black Mary, "I live in a hive of darkness, and you are my mother, I told her. You are the
mother of thousands," expressing how now Lily is finally able to evaluate her present; she adopts
the Black Mary and the Sisters as mother figures and through them finds the guidance she needs to
begin to develop her identity (Kidd 164). Through her contemporary identity Lily is able to confront
her abusive father T–Ray, and immerse herself with her adoptive lifestyle with the sisters life and
their religion. Lily is able to embrace happiness through the authenticity she has found within
herself through developing maternal relationships. Her journey implicates the immense value of
mothers in child's life. Her story expresses how mothers are artists, painting a vivid image of the
world for their children and then teaching those children how to paint, so that they can develop their
own sense of the world through their personal identity. While Kidd's novel reflects on the influence
a mother has with her child, Brooks' novel Year of Wonders uses the main character Anna, to

A Summary Of Crispin
This story is set in England in the Middle Ages in the year 1377. It is about a young boy called
Crispin, who is declared a fugitive by the steward of his village. He runs away and is hunted by the
steward and his men. He meets a friend called Bear and travels with him to the city, where he learns
the truth about himself and manages to win his freedom.
Crispin is a thirteen–year–old boy who lives with his mother in the small village of Stromford,
which is part of Lord Furnival's land. He has no father and is known simply as "Asta's son." When
his mother dies, he is so upset that he runs into the woods. There he accidentally overhears a
stranger and John Aycliffe the village steward discussing "a great danger." They see Crispin and
attempt to kill him, but he runs away. Crispin goes to the village priest and finds out that he has been
declared a "wolf's head", which means that anyone can kill him as if he is a wild animal. The priest
gives Crispin a cross of lead that his mother owned. He tells Crispin that his mother could read and
write, and that she wrote the words on the cross. He then tells Crispin that he must flee the village
and head for a city. He will meet Crispin that night and give him more information about his father
and mother. Crispin takes this advice, but as he flees the village he sees the body of the priest. He
has been murdered.
Crispin wanders alone until he comes to an abandoned village. Here he meets a man called Bear,
who makes Crispin his servant.

Hugh focused on parallel universes, A parallel universe, is a theory of a self–contained separate

father, for the lack of communication, Mark mentions in his songs that he forgives his father and
that he has found a new respect for him, as before where he didn't have any respect for his father.
Mark mentions that he can see his father in himself every day and that it frightens him, as he sworn
to never become his father. But as time has gone by, he gives his father some respect, now that he
sees what he was going through. Holding in secrets does no good, Mark was raised not knowing
who his father was; even though they would see each other every day. Not until Hugh who died at a
young age, Mark had to finally find the truth behind his father and only then could he understand. It
wasn't only the Everett family who didn't know the truth about Hugh but I would even add the
world. You could mention Einstein and everybody could characterize him but you bring up Hugh
Everett and it doesn't ring a bell to most. I would think it's because of him not speaking up, or like I
mentioned before maybe the world wasn't ready for his theory yet. This just comes to show that it

Insanity In Shutter Island, Split, The Secret Window And...
Insanity – the causes, the effects, the treatments – is often the subject of films and novels. There are
many famous examples of films and novels that engage with insanity as a theme. Directors and
novelists have often sought to portray the experience to their audiences. In my texts, Shutter Island,
Split, The Secret Window and Identity the directors have given contrasting representations of
insanity, its cures and its symbolic significance. The director has also given similar representation of
its causes and the symptoms. The films in my study suggest that trauma and guilt are often the
triggers for mental illness and insanity. The main characters are witnesses to horrific events and it
seems that the trauma and guilt upsets their mental equilibrium/stability. We see this in Shutter
Island, as we eventually learn that Andrew Laeddis killed his wife, this is because his wife murdered
their three children in cold blood as she was mentally unstable. Dolores had told Andrew "that she
had an insect living inside her brain, she could feel it clicking across her skull, just pulling the wires,
just for fun". But Andrew too obsessed with work and his alcoholism is blinded to Dolores' own
mental breakdown which made him feel guilty that he wasn't there to help her when he should have.
He also mentions to Dr Sheehan that he feels guilty due to his involvement in the liberation of
Dachau, as he had deliberately let the camp commander suffer a slow and painful death. He later on

Analysis Of Flying By Alice Miller
"Flying," by Alice Miller is a complex story about a woman named Allie, who reminisces about a
time spent when her cousin Mack taught her to fly when she was just a young girl. On different
occasions when Mack visited, he would show her how to do new things. As Allie grew up she found
herself thinking of the secret that Mack shared with her and how he told her not to tell anyone or she
may get hurt. Allie longed for the feeling of flying, if she could just reach out and talk to Mack but
too much time had passed. She dreams of flying in her sleep, not for long periods of time, but just
enough to embrace that feeling she had years ago. She wonders if many people have experienced
flying the way that she has and if she could fly by herself without Mack. One day, Allie tries to fly
on her own and succeeds, soaring higher than she did with Mack. Before Allie knew it, she was
flying through the clouds and around town. Now that Allie has experienced the feeling of flying
again, more than ever she wanted to share with her kids. One night after the children were asleep she
wanted to share her secret with her boys but instead chose her daughter. Miller suggests that when a
person is afraid of doing something on their own, sometimes it just takes a little bit of courage to
step out and let go of the things that could be holding a person back. Allie appears to be a lonely
person, although married and with three children of her own. She has no one that she can share her

Rachel already wants to grow old and be so far away from her childhood. Because of one altercation
with the girls she doesn 't like, she already wants to grow old and throw away her whole childhood.
Throughout the story she referenced growing up as collecting ages as you go instead of changing
into them each year, "Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or like the rings inside
a tree trunk or like my little wooden dolls that fit one inside the other, each year inside the next one."
She says this because instead of never being any of the those younger ages every again, she thinks
of it as something you can put away for when you are acting not like the age you really are. "I 'm

Symbolism In Roman Fever
"Roman Fever," by Edith Wharton, follows two old friends, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley,
accidentally meeting in Rome after many years apart. The two have a long history together and
spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a loud and jealous woman, who always
held a deep–rooted resentment for Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two and
self–controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs.
Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner
together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the origin of their rivalry. In
their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems
anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who
has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knitting to reveal Mrs. Slade's shallow
attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is
Mrs. Slade who falls apart.
Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women's
conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. They sit outside, talking about their daughters in
the light of the evening or exchanging in a deep silence. "It seemed as though, to both, as there was

An Analysis Of Stephen Dobyns 'Deceptions'
Secrets are precious vessels, travelling from a person's heart, out of their mouth, and into another's
ear. But sometimes, due to misplaced trust, the vessels do not stay sealed, or protected, as they
should be. Rather, they are exposed to the masses, and that person's heart is one display for all to see
and judge and interpret. Poems are the secrets of a poet's heart. When a poet writes, it is not intended
for an audience. Rather, it comes from a private place that can no longer be suppressed. There is an
overwhelming desire to tell, to reveal, that leads a poet to paper. The paper serves as a blank space
where they can express their inner desires, fears, or experiences without worrying about the
judgment of others. Once a poem is finished, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Secrets Of Toxic Secrets
While essential secrets focus on creating boundaries and protecting others, toxic secrets tend to do
almost the complete opposite. Toxic secrets are usually kept from those that have a right to know or
should be informed of the secret. This, in turn, causes a lot of disruption and tension in certain
relationships. There are several different reasons why people choose to keep toxic secrets from their
family members, friends, coworkers, and others in the outside world. Most of the time people feel as
though the benefits of keeping their toxic secret hidden from another will outweigh the costs of not
doing so. The reason for this is that most toxic secrets include sensitive topics ranging from donor
assistance and adoption to homosexuality.
Before delving into the different topics that exist in the world of toxic secrets, it is important to
understand the process that others go through when keeping a toxic secret and deciding whether or
not they should share that secret. Imber–Black (2009) explains that there are two types of people
who keep toxic secrets. The first type includes those who are powerless and keep secrets from those
that are in power. They do so in order to gain safety and power against those who already possess
the power. The second type includes those that are in power and may use toxic secrets against those
who are less fortunate or less powerful. They keep secrets in order to coerce or continue to keep the
power they possess.
Along with the types of people

The Dangers Of Toxic Secrecy Plays During Four Different...
Health
Imber–Black (2014) delves into the dangers that toxic secrecy plays in four different family
situations. The dangers of keeping the health problems of family members a secret (and the triangles
that are formed while doing so) are addressed. On the other hand, specific questions are laid out to
better help patients understand who they may or may not need to share their specific health
problems with (Imber–Black, 2014).
The dangers of keeping toxic secrets are innumerable and maintaining them becomes quite the
tedious task. Parents may come to realize that keeping health secrets and power away from their
children can be especially difficult because they need to organize their lives in a way to continue in
secrecy and act like nothing is going on. The lies continue to grow as children ask why one parent
appears to be tired all the time or why the other one is always at the hospital. Siblings will
eventually start to discuss what is taking place among their family, and they may even figure out the
secret taking place within their family. It is during these times that communication between parents
and their children becomes full of mistrust, uncomfortable silences, and meaningless arguments
(Imber–Black, 2014).
This miscommunication leads into power triangles that seem to either bring people closer or do the
opposite by creating conflict and distance. This happens because those that are in on the secret feel
as though they have some type of obligation to keep this secret

Analysis Of The Minister's Black Veil
In this well known American Romanticism story, The Minister's Black Veil by Nathaniel
Hawthorne, we encounter a bizarre character who is our protagonist What American Romanticism
was is that it was a movement in the arts and literature that originated in the late 18th century,
emphasizing inspiration, subjectivity, and the primacy of the individual. Mr. Hooper was the
protagonist and minister who have decided to pay penance by wearing a long black veil over his
head for the rest of his days. He was judged and criticised by his own parishioners for his black veil
as rumors about sin and adultery were going around the town. This was a serious issue that even

Hooper has suffered a great deal for the remainder of his life. Although the minister never explained
why he wore it, there was much speculation as to why he did. Adultery, disloyalty, addiction, and
alcoholism were just some speculations as to the secret sin he was paying penance for. The black
veil has power over Mr. Hooper because he chose to conceal his sin rather than show his fiancee
before he lost her. This also tells us that Mr. Hooper is a man of his word because even on his
deathbed, the black veil remained on his face. The black veil was a penance to Mr. Hooper because
he wore it to show his secret sin and that he acknowledged it rather than discarding it like most of
the parishioners did. This united him with the lower class and criminals because they felt like
minister harper was on their side because it sowed his imperfections. Yet at the same time, the close
bond he had with his parishes was basically lost. The black veil also gave this eerie aura to Mr.
Hooper and it made his sermons more powerful to the parishioners who took all his sermons to
heart. To the parishioners, the black veil was seen as a dark item that made them change their whole
perspective on someone they once loved and

  • 6. What Makes A Superheros Superheros are Lit/Superheros Characteristics When I was 10 years old I really got into superheros when I saw Batman begins for the first time I loved the fact that Batman went through so much training to become a hero to find who killed his parents and Batman was a billionaire who wanted to help his city come back to the way it was before his parents died. The best superheroes have certain traits that make them unique from other superheroes for example superheroes have some sort of power or have a great story line also they have double lives keeping two identities. Some superheroes have superpowers and some do not, but some of the best superheroes have powers such as the Flash, Superman and Deadpool. Flash is a superhero who has the ability to run as fast as the speed of light this makes him a great superhero because he has to learn to live with his powers and keep his powers out of his real life and not let anyone know he's the Flash. Deadpool has the ability to regrow body parts this makes him a great hero because he does not care for his powers he wants to get rid of them, but he acts like a villain, but is a hero so he adds comedy to his character which allows people to connect with him more. Superman has the powers to fly and shoot lasers out his eyes this is just awesome who does not like a character than can shoot lasers from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 'The Law Of Attraction Is Nonsense' The Secret "None of the secrets of success work unless you do."– Anonymous Well, if you believe in the secret and you think about success, eventually it will walk right to you. Ha! Really? Well, if that's really what you believe you are in for a rude awakening. However, for the rest of us, we will be over here working our butts off to make a change in our lives and working for said secrets of success. In 2006, a movie–like documentary, The Secret, created by Rhonda Byrne, was made about the Law of Attraction that said that if you think about positive things, like instead of bills you are getting checks, those things will eventually happen. People should not believe in this because, The Secret is blaming the victims, and it's pretty much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Homelessness, poverty, famine, bullies, political squabbles, natural disasters, sickness, disease, rape, incest, and ultimately, death. According to the Law of Attraction, you're limiting beliefs and thoughts "attract" a tornado to wipe out your house." Joel Comm writes in "The Law of Attraction is Nonsense". Nobody has any control of being born into third world countries, its like the luck of the draw, and these people chose the short straw, that's not their fault. There have been rallies and protests about the fact that it isn't the victim's fault that they were raped. Men, women, and kids suffer from all sorts of cancer and other diseases, the Law of Attraction says they called it upon themselves, little innocent kids who probably have done nothing bad in their short lives, and now they can die, they called it upon themselves, really? What about the kids and adults who are victims to mass shootings? Did they just think about the worst case scenario for days at a time and they just happened because of negative thoughts? • 10. The Secret Window And Dissociative Identity Disorder The Secret Window and Dissociative Identity Disorder The Secret Window is a film released in 2004 directed by David Koepp and written by Stephen King. The main issue in this film is one of a psychological basis which keeps the audience on their toes and maybe even slightly confused until all of the pieces fit together at the end of the film. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the psychological issue that plagues the main character, Mort Rainey (portrayed by Johnny Depp), and identify any biases or misinformation presented in the film. Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder, is a psychological issue that is quite debilitating to the affected individual. Symptoms of this disorder often mimic those of other physical and mental disorders such as seizure disorder, substance abuse, and post–traumatic stress disorder ("Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)", 2012). The distinguishing symptom of Dissociative Identity Disorder, however, is the presence of two or more distinct identities that alternately take control of the individual and this symptom is the main basis and plot of The Secret Window. In addition, the person is plagued by memory losses that cannot be explained by ordinary forgetfulness and may even find items that he or she doesn't remember buying. ("Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)", 2014). Also, the individual may experience unexplained changes in eating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a major difference in the effect this impotence has on Bradley and Tilden. While Bradley denies the truth, telling Tilden he doesn't know, he wasn't born yet, Tilden is on an active search for the body of this child. Bradley wants the secret to remain a secret. Tilden wants it out in the open, wants the closure, even if subconsciously. That's why he finds corn, carrots, and potatoes out in the fields, while Bradley and the others see only the rain. The land represents the soul, and is fertile for Tilden because in his way he is seeking to right this terrible wrong by revealing the child. When Tilden covers Dodge with the corn husks, but leaves his head uncovered, he is covering him with something good that the land, or in this case his maimed soul, has produced. He is trying to help Dodge to realize that the truth must be told. Bradley comes into the room and throws the husks off, shaves Dodge's head and cuts him while he is helpless, like a punishment for the secret. Then he covers him up, head and all, with the ... • 16. The Importance Of Keeping Secrets Over the years, many individuals have kept secrets to themselves, whether it becomes a negative or positive outcome. Everyone has secrets, it's all around us. Your brain doesn't like to keep secrets since it increases the levels of stress hormones in your body. Many think that secrets should not be kept hidden because it can result in health problems such as complications in your brain's orbital prefrontal cortex. Keeping secrets usually results in a harmful way. It's not easy to keep something important from the people you care about without telling a few lies. It's better to confess your secrets as a result of feeling confident and not having to hide any information. Telling the truth is generally a better thing to do instead of keeping secrets which leads to unnecessary amounts of drama. Keeping secrets are harmful because your health can be at risk due to high amounts of stress levels which places you in a difficult position. For example, in the article, "Keeping Secrets Can Be Hazardous To Your Health", it says, " your brain's orbital prefrontal cortex stimulates in your mind just how bad sharing the secret will be" ..."the cortex becomes stressed." This quote is relevant because it shows that your brain won't function in a proper way due to all the stress you're experiencing. Keeping the secret private for a long time will cause severe damage to your brain and mental health. Furthermore, in an article, " Science Shows Something Surprising About Adults Who Still Keep ... I really dislike this trait in myself, so when I read it in Eli I took an immediate disliking to his character in trying to suppress my own feelings about myself. But this is not the only flaw I noticed about myself from the story. Eli's mother Sylvia and I also have a lot in common. Through out the entire story she was enraptured in talking about how many Remenzels had attended the Whitehill School and what contributions they had made to it. She stated during one part of the drive to the school: I look through this catalog, and I see all the buildings named after Remenzels, look through the back and see all the hundreds of dollars given by Remenzels for scholarships, and I just can't help thinking people named Remenzel are entitled to ask for a little something extra. She was, infact, so enthralled by this information and talking of the school that she failed to notice the strange and awkward behavior of her son. Again, it took reading the story a few times to understand that this is another unattractive quality that I possess. I have the ability to become overly involved in things and I forget to pay attention and listen to the people around me. What particularly stood out in my mind and made me aware of this similarity was Sylvia's excessive repetition of the word I. To me it represents her attention only being focused on what she ... • 22. Common Characters Of Hellman And Batman, Iron Man And Batman What is a comic book hero, and why do they struggle so much with their identities? A common definition for a hero is "a person admired for achievements and noble qualities". However, as we all may know comic book heroes are vastly different from this. Throughout our lives almost everybody has been exposed to the comic book hero or superhero that our society seems so obsessed over. We love to read about and watch these fantastical characters' fly around and save the day. But there is one unsettling truth that is seen in almost every comic book hero, their secret identity and everything it holds. Perhaps the biggest secret for each of these heroes is their identity. This secret can mean life or death not only them but all of their loved ones as well, and all that is protecting them is a little fabric mask on their face. This since of fear that each character must live with is underlining theme that takes place in virtually all comic book hero stories. So as the readers of these comics and watchers of these movies, we must ask ourselves as how can such powerful people live in such a state of fear? In addition to this, can this use of a heroes alter ego be compared to us normal people and our alter egos that we create online? In order to answer how these heroes can live in such a state of fear I want to look at two common characters from both comics and the movies, Iron Man and Batman. First I would like to clarify that while comic books are such a rich part of our history, due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main focus of Frankenstein is the power of knowledge and how dangerous it can be. This power is portrayed in the main characters of the novel: Victor Frankenstein and the monster. The theme of knowledge helps to answer the question as to why Victor decides to tell Walton his secret. Both of these characters reveal a passion of discovery and intellect, which Victor has made his past and Walton only his future. How would you feel if you were to choose to become brave, honest, selfless, compassionate, or intelligent? What if the choice you made meant that you would never be able to visit your family again? In a rigidly structured, dystopian futuristic Chicago in a book called Divergent there is a young woman named Beatrice Prior ("Tris") that will make the ultimate choice. This book is written by Veronica Roth, who writes young adult fiction, specifically the Divergent series followed by Insurgent and Allegiant. In the book Divergent the characters' choices are strongly impacted by the societies they live in. This society is broken into five factions: Abnegation, Erudite, Candor, Dauntless, and Amity, each specializing in a specific character trait such as selflessness, bravery, intelligence, honesty, and compassion. Children are brought up in their own factions, learning the values of their people, until they turn sixteen where they choose which faction they'll belong to for the rest of their life. "As of yesterday, I technically became Dauntless, but I don't feel like one. And I am not Abnegation, either. I guess I am what I have always been. Not Dauntless, not Abnegation, not factionless. Before taking the proper methods, it's important to know what the criminal does to steal your information. The criminal uses malware, short for malicious software, which is any form of software being used against the user's permission. Well known to the public, he is strong, kind, humble and in love with Lois Lane. Then he gets to work. He puts on some glasses, and he becomes Clark Kent, a mild–mannered reporter. According to the public, his relationship with Louis is platonic. Despite being the same person, depending on who you ask, they will give you a very different description of just one man. The real difference between Superman and Clark Kent isn't a disguise, but the social context in which he is seen. Much the same as Superman, people can have multiple identities, or 'frames' of themselves, each coming out in a specific social context. With social media, these different identities can be created and thrive. On public platforms, the ideal side of a person is shown, along with their close relationships, but on private sites, they don't have to worry about dealing with the pressure from others. To put simply, whether you see Superman or Clark Kent, depends on who is watching him, so it can be argued that the amount of privacy a user has on a social media platform, greatly impacts how they display themselves, and their relationships on said platform as well. There are many famous examples of films and novels that engage with insanity as a theme. Directors and novelists have often sought to portray the experience to their audiences. In my texts, Shutter Island, Split, The Secret Window and Identity the directors have given contrasting representations of insanity, its cures and its symbolic significance. The director has also given similar representation of its causes and the symptoms. The films in my study suggest that trauma and guilt are often the triggers for mental illness and insanity. The main characters are witnesses to horrific events and it seems that the trauma and guilt upsets their mental equilibrium/stability. We see this in Shutter Island, as we eventually learn that Andrew Laeddis killed his wife, this is because his wife murdered their three children in cold blood as she was mentally unstable. Allie longed for the feeling of flying, if she could just reach out and talk to Mack but too much time had passed. She dreams of flying in her sleep, not for long periods of time, but just enough to embrace that feeling she had years ago. She wonders if many people have experienced flying the way that she has and if she could fly by herself without Mack. One day, Allie tries to fly on her own and succeeds, soaring higher than she did with Mack. Before Allie knew it, she was flying through the clouds and around town. Now that Allie has experienced the feeling of flying again, more than ever she wanted to share with her kids. One night after the children were asleep she wanted to share her secret with her boys but instead chose her daughter. Miller suggests that when a person is afraid of doing something on their own, sometimes it just takes a little bit of courage to step out and let go of the things that could be holding a person back. Allie appears to be a lonely person, although married and with three children of her own. She has no one that she can share her secret of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Toms' family they're roots were poisoned from the very founding of the family starting with Sam Toms'. Faye never took responsibly for her wrong actions. She blambed all her faults on outside sources, such as her Uncle who poisoned the family, and men in general; never herself. If Faye simply spoke of her past, apologized to Anna, and moved onto the future instead of living in the past, than this "poison" would have been stopped. But her family raised her not to speak about her mistakes. Her whole family, starting at the roots was based on secrets and living in the past. She chose to follow the family roots, in doing so she passed on the poison to her daughter Ruby and Jasmine, instilling in them the practice of keeping secrets and blaming outside sourses for bad things in their life. • 64. Personal Narrative: A Short Story After what seemed like a long day, Ryder was finally given time to himself. Of course, it wasn't a lot of time because birthday insured cake and ice cream time, but Ryder was able to unwind from all the stress built up from this special day. He was sitting at his desk, pressed up against the wall under the window that looked out at the front of his house, and he had his light on– only giving so much light in the room. The sun was coming down too, which Ryder thought was the perfect opportunity to write in his journal. Ever since the accident though, all the entries have been the same. 'I feel empty', 'why couldn't it have been me and not them', and 'i miss them so much I'm crazy' filled the recent pages, but he was told by his therapist he had to write he felt, so he did. He didn't really feel much anymore, and with his birthday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Or were you not paying attention at all during that therapy session? I think it was the one–" he trailed off, looking up, and then he looked at Ryder and smiled sadly, "It was the one right before the accident." "You're not dead," Ryder finally formed a sentence, completely ignoring what R had just said, eyes still wide at what he was seeing. "I know, I'm too important for death to do anything to me," R laughed, and then put his hands behind him on the bed and leaned back, "You got my present though, right? The ice cream?" Ryder nodded his head slowly, "That was you?" "Yeah, it's your favorite, I had to get it for you." "How come you haven't been out," Ryder breathed out, "in two months?" Ryder felt anger boil up inside him, and R looked at him sadly. "We've been grieving," He said softly, looking down at his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rachel already wants to grow old and be so far away from her childhood. Because of one altercation with the girls she doesn 't like, she already wants to grow old and throw away her whole childhood. Throughout the story she referenced growing up as collecting ages as you go instead of changing into them each year, "Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or like the rings inside a tree trunk or like my little wooden dolls that fit one inside the other, each year inside the next one." She says this because instead of never being any of the those younger ages every again, she thinks of it as something you can put away for when you are acting not like the age you really are. "I 'm crying like I 'm three in front of everybody." In this part of the story, instead of being 11, like she really is, she is using the 3 year old inside her. She collects and later uses all the ages that she passes along and adds them to a collection of feelings. In the end of the story, Rachel compares the passing days of her life to a balloon floating away in the sky, "Far away like a runaway balloon, like a tiny o in the sky, so tiny–tiny you have to close your eyes to see it." She knows that one day the red sweater, Ms. Price, and all the other girls will be far behind her. She was forced to grow and mature in that moment to handle and come to terms with the ... Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two and self–controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner together on a terrace overlooking Rome. Mrs. Slade seems anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knitting to reveal Mrs. Slade's shallow attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is Mrs. Slade who falls apart. Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women's conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. They sit outside, talking about their daughters in the light of the evening or exchanging in a deep silence. • 72. An Analysis Of Stephen Dobyns 'Deceptions' Secrets are precious vessels, travelling from a person's heart, out of their mouth, and into another's ear. But sometimes, due to misplaced trust, the vessels do not stay sealed, or protected, as they should be. Rather, they are exposed to the masses, and that person's heart is one display for all to see and judge and interpret. Poems are the secrets of a poet's heart. When a poet writes, it is not intended for an audience. Rather, it comes from a private place that can no longer be suppressed. There is an overwhelming desire to tell, to reveal, that leads a poet to paper. The paper serves as a blank space where they can express their inner desires, fears, or experiences without worrying about the judgment of others. Once a poem is finished, ... • 74. The Secrets Of Toxic Secrets While essential secrets focus on creating boundaries and protecting others, toxic secrets tend to do almost the complete opposite. Toxic secrets are usually kept from those that have a right to know or should be informed of the secret. This, in turn, causes a lot of disruption and tension in certain relationships. There are several different reasons why people choose to keep toxic secrets from their family members, friends, coworkers, and others in the outside world. Most of the time people feel as though the benefits of keeping their toxic secret hidden from another will outweigh the costs of not doing so. The reason for this is that most toxic secrets include sensitive topics ranging from donor assistance and adoption to homosexuality. Before delving into the different topics that exist in the world of toxic secrets, it is important to understand the process that others go through when keeping a toxic secret and deciding whether or not they should share that secret. Imber–Black (2009) explains that there are two types of people who keep toxic secrets. The first type includes those who are powerless and keep secrets from those that are in power. They do so in order to gain safety and power against those who already possess the power. The second type includes those that are in power and may use toxic secrets against those who are less fortunate or less powerful. They keep secrets in order to coerce or continue to keep the power they possess. Along with the types of people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. The Dangers Of Toxic Secrecy Plays During Four Different... Health Imber–Black (2014) delves into the dangers that toxic secrecy plays in four different family situations. The dangers of keeping the health problems of family members a secret (and the triangles that are formed while doing so) are addressed. On the other hand, specific questions are laid out to better help patients understand who they may or may not need to share their specific health problems with (Imber–Black, 2014). The dangers of keeping toxic secrets are innumerable and maintaining them becomes quite the tedious task. Parents may come to realize that keeping health secrets and power away from their children can be especially difficult because they need to organize their lives in a way to continue in secrecy and act like nothing is going on. The lies continue to grow as children ask why one parent appears to be tired all the time or why the other one is always at the hospital. Siblings will eventually start to discuss what is taking place among their family, and they may even figure out the secret taking place within their family. It is during these times that communication between parents and their children becomes full of mistrust, uncomfortable silences, and meaningless arguments (Imber–Black, 2014). This miscommunication leads into power triangles that seem to either bring people closer or do the opposite by creating conflict and distance. This happens because those that are in on the secret feel as though they have some type of obligation to keep this secret ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Minister's Black Veil In this well known American Romanticism story, The Minister's Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne, we encounter a bizarre character who is our protagonist What American Romanticism was is that it was a movement in the arts and literature that originated in the late 18th century, emphasizing inspiration, subjectivity, and the primacy of the individual. Mr. Hooper was the protagonist and minister who have decided to pay penance by wearing a long black veil over his head for the rest of his days. Hooper has suffered a great deal for the remainder of his life. Although the minister never explained why he wore it, there was much speculation as to why he did. Adultery, disloyalty, addiction, and alcoholism were just some speculations as to the secret sin he was paying penance for. The black veil has power over Mr. Hooper because he chose to conceal his sin rather than show his fiancee before he lost her. This also tells us that Mr. Hooper is a man of his word because even on his deathbed, the black veil remained on his face. The black veil was a penance to Mr. Hooper because he wore it to show his secret sin and that he acknowledged it rather than discarding it like most of the parishioners did. This united him with the lower class and criminals because they felt like minister harper was on their side because it sowed his imperfections. Yet at the same time, the close bond he had with his parishes was basically lost. The black veil also gave this eerie aura to Mr. Hooper and it made his sermons more powerful to the parishioners who took all his sermons to heart. To the parishioners, the black veil was seen as a dark item that made them change their whole perspective on someone they once loved and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
