Republican National Convention Analysis
The adoption of rules is subject to change every election cycle and is determined by the Republican
National Convention prior to the convention date. An example of this is Rule 40b of the RNC which
was in effect in 2012, but has not been adopted for the 2016 convention in Cleveland. Under this
rule, a candidate must have the support of a majority of the delegates of at least eight states in order
to get the nomination. Rule 40e then states that if no candidate has received the majority of votes,
"the chairman of the convention shall direct the roll of the states be called again and shall repeat the
calling of the roll until a candidate shall have received a majority of the votes." During the 1940

Eliminating Religion from Daily Life with the...
During the revolutionary era in France, in which the National Convention took control of
revolutionary France, a new calendar was adopted. This revolutionary calendar was implemented in
November of 1793, in an attempt to replace the Gregorian calendar completely. The National
Convention adopted a new calendar in France at the time of a revolution in an attempt to increase
the number of work days on peasants and reduce the influence of Christianity throughout the
country; however most of the general public as well as government officials reacted negatively. One
major reason as of why the revolutionary calendar was put into effect was in order to eliminate
religion from daily life. The traditional Gregorian calendar was originally ... Show more content on

However because this article was written under Napoleon I, and from the perspective of people who
did not agree with the calendar the article may be very biased. Another reason for the adoption of a
new calendar is that the government did not want religion to determine the lives of the French
people. According to Pierre–Joseph, the Jacobins were attempting to rid France of religion and the
old order by replacing it with Deism (Document eight). With the incorporation of deism into
everyday life people could focus more on reason, being less influenced by religion. However,
because Pierre–Joseph was a Girondin he was very opposed to the views of the Jocobins, so of
course he believed the removal of religion from French society to have negative impacts. Less
religious aspects in everyday life would allow the French people to be more productive by reducing
their time to worship, in turn giving them more time to work. The revolutionary calendar sought out
to improving productivity among the peasantry. The National Convention stated that the Gregorian
calendar had too many religious holidays. One of the complaints in the Cahier de Doleances
included the limitation on the number of religious holidays so that the so called "great people" were
no longer a disadvantage to the state (Document one). In order to make the French people more
productive there needed to be a reduction in the

Carly Fiorina's Political Election
Carly Fiorina joined the ranks of outsider candidates to run in the 2016 election, but unlike Donald
Trump, did not brand herself as an overly populist candidate. Her ad "Take Our Country Back"
might have populist appeals, but focuses on the liberal conventions of setting a political agenda and
convincing voters that she can lead, despite being an outsider with no political experience. The spot
begins by flashing images of her opponents and their tenures in government, with voiceovers
pointing out how they have done nothing to advance the Republican platform during all these years.
This populist shaming sets up Fiorina's liberal appeal and her agenda she calls a blueprint for

Presenting herself as an outsider implies that anyone, regardless of political background, has the
ability to lead the United States, and her blueprint is a promise to the American people what that
leadership will look like.
Using voiceovers and critical depictions of the Republican establishments' tenures in office, Fiorina
is able to identify and define the problem with American politics. The dark music and colors
resemble something of horror, as each politicians' long histories in government have contributed to
the nation's decline. The tone of the spot changes as the text "Had enough?" appear on the screen.
The music rises, signaling to viewers that Fiorina's blueprint is the solution to the problems.
This problem–solution format to the advertisement gives the spot a superhero appeal by identifying
the political establishment as the problem plaguing America, and offering Carly Fiorina as an
outsider solution to these problems. Following a visual of an architectural blueprint, Fiorina's

America is considered as a global superpower, and has a critical role to play in the global
socioeconomic and political landscape. Critical examination of US presidential elections show that
they draw widespread attention from across the globe. In many instances, the major political parties
differ significantly on policies, a prospect that may work to the advantage or the disadvantage of the
candidate for Democratic Party of the Republican Party. After months of the long bruising primaries,
the GOP conducted its convention in Cleveland while the democratic sect held their convention in

3). Trump further pointed out that large fractions of the US annual budgets are set aside to finance
the international economic obligations of the country. As such, the Republicans pointed out that
cutting such parts of the budget would help to boost the American economy and to reduce budget
deficits.
Further, the sect outlined that the allies of America will have to pay if the country is to offer military
assistance and other services. Through this strategic approach, the republicans equally believed that
returning American troops home and abandoning international missions would help save revenues
that, in their view, are wasted on programs that do not directly benefit the American people. Ideally,
the Republicans exhibited belief that continued involvement of America in international aids and
assistive missions would affect the economy negatively, and would make America vulnerable in the
global market (Smith 3). On debt, Donald Trump recounted his experience as a business mogul to be
a value that will help him overcome the economic barriers and ensure that the country does not
accumulate debts.
Another fundamental subject that was explored in the Republican convention was trade between
America and the international community. The Republican Party noted that America was getting raw
deals in many instances. They cited the case of trade between America and china in which the

Napoleon Bonaparte, A Great Leader, The Politician,...
Napoleon Bonaparte, soldier, general, politician, tyrant, emperor. Napoleon Bonaparte was a great
many things. He ended the French revolution, bringing stability and order to a country stricken with
chaos. He accomplished civil reforms that other countries could only dream off in matter of a few
years, restoring financial stability, reformed the education system, instituted an extensive program of
public works, centralized the governmental systems which is still in effect today in France, and
settled disputes with the almighty Catholic Church, the list of his great accomplishments go on and
on. Napoleon was born to Carlo Buonaparte, a Corsican lawyer, and his wife Letizia Ramolino on
August 15, 1769. The Buonapartes were descended from minor Italian nobility of Tuscan origin,
who had come to Corsica from Liguria in the 16th century. He had an elder brother named Joseph,
and six younger siblings, Lucien, Elisa, Louis, Pauline, Caroline and Jerome. During his infant years
civil strife surrounded him, the people of Corsica were rising up against the French occupiers,
originally his family had sided with the nationalists, but after their leader Pasquale was forced to
flee, Carlo turned his coat and sided with the French. After his betrayal he was appointed a plush job
as the accessor of the judicial district of Ajaccio. The job allowed him to enroll his two sons Joseph

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death Speech
Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death Speech Gaining the credibility in a speech can be difficult at
times and can test even the best speakers ability to keep the crowds attention and respect. One of the
ways to keep credibility with a crowd is practicing and applying appeal to ethics. Which is defined
as winning the favor of the audience by showing strong credibility in the speaker (Merriam–
Webster). One of the best speeches that exemplifies the usage of appeal to ethics is Patrick Henry's
"Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death" speech where he addresses an issue of war at the
revolutionary convention. Henry through appeal to ethics developed his credibility and wanted the

Henry increased his credibility through the use of benevolence, where he made the audience feel as
if they too were included in Henry's dream of the chance to stand up for their freedom. When Henry
said "Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every
house?" He is drawing upon the audiences good will in that he wants them to imagine that image in
their heads and what it could develop into once they have full control. By addressing this, not only
did he establish his credibility in that he to would belong to the group of people whose houses would
be guarded but also, he was willing to fight for what belonged to them and deserved. This implied
they should do the same for he was in the same boat as they are in terms of the need to bear arms
and choosing to fight for their peace and freedom from Britain. The need for the people to
understand that if they were to sit around and wait for peaceful arguments to settle the war this
would only lead to failure and Britain's victory, this then became serious and was addressed
throughout Henry's speech. Henry did not want to be the only one going into the war with a will to
fight and he realized this, it was only through his benevolence that he could reach the peoples hearts

Maximilien Robespierre of France is One of the World's...
What makes an effective leader? Just because a leader is good doesn't mean they're effective and just
because a leader is effective doesn't mean they're good. Maximilien Robespierre was one of the
leaders of France that had a firm grip over the whole country as head of the Committee of Public
Safety. Even though Maximilien Robespierre, a philosophical leader during the French Revolution,
had many good leadership qualities at first, due to his advancement in authority he became power
crazy and started turning on his own colleagues and the people of France.
People know Robespierre's role in the French Revolution, but do they know about his personal life?
Maximilien Robespierre was born in 1758 in the old province of Artois, France. He was born into a
family of lawyers (Reil and Wilson). His father worked for the Council of Artois (Reil and Wilson),
so Robespierre was familiar with politics and government at a young age. Robespierre also had a
brother, Augustin, and two sister. At an early age he distinguished himself as a student showing great
potential. While in school he studied the writings of the Enlightenment which would greatly
influence him for years to come. In 1781 (Reil and Wilson), he attained a degree in law and soon
after he represented the Third Estate which was the French bourgeoisie and the working class of
France before the French Revolution had occurred. He was now on his way to being head of France
but he still had some obstacles set before him.

Causes Of The French Revolution
The Terror was a set of institutions put in place to protect the revolution while France was in a state
of panic from the extreme military and domestic emergency. The belief of danger, from many
deputies, that the Revolution itself was in danger of ruin by enemies real and imagined resulted in
repression. This repression was justified by revolutionaries to preserve the Revolution. Certain
factors led to the rise in conspiracy and paranoia among revolutionaries in the cities and those in the
Convention of enemies lurking everywhere. These factors are the military failures in the French
northern front due to Austrian counterattack. The counter forces of the Austrian military put foreign
enemies on French soil again and resulted in panic among revolutionaries that foreign nations will
succeed in ending the Revolution. The recruitment riots in the provinces, led by anti–revolutionary
rural citizens, acted as proof to revolutionaries that the internal enemies conducting the civil war are
causing the military failures of the French army by foreign enemies. The assassination of the
Montagnard, Marat, supported the revolutionaries belief that internal enemies are out to hunt
revolutionary leaders and bring an end to the revolution. These events led to measures that would
commence the disintegration of the Republic and start of the Terror to protect France's revolution
from enemies domestic and abroad. Prior to the failures of the impending warfare between France
versus Austria and

The Reign Of Terror Essay
The Reign of Terror History is said to be written by the winners, but is it possible to rewrite history?
In a way, the French, like many who have preceded them, and many who will proceed them have
done the impossible, rewriting history. From trivial folklore, such as George Washington chopping
down a cherry tree, to the incredibly wrong, the African slave trade; people's views of history can be
shaped and molded. The French have done a superb job of instilling all of us with the concept that
their Revolution was a fight for liberty, justice and the good of all Frenchmen everywhere. Their

They swore to remain indivisible until a constitution had been formed. As they met at the church of
St. Louis, the King was delayed in his attempt to end this display of independence. Finally, he
informed them, that he would not allow any reforms to be made, unless he approved of them.
Unfortunately, their will would not be easily undone, and in a vote to four hundred ninety three to
ninety four, the National Assembly declared that serious action would be taken against the King.
With such an resounding opposition, on June 27th, 1789, Louis XVI gave into their demands.
Educated in Paris, a young man of twenty six years, would be one of the first to set off the spark of
revolution. Jumping on top of a table at the Palais Royale, a social gathering place in Paris, he spoke
out against the enemies of the people in a well scripted oration. The crowd quickly fawned over
their new found hero, marching through the streets of Paris, even interrupting a performance at the
Paris opera. Military forces were required to remedy the situation, yet Paris only had six thousand
troops with which to defend itself against the rampaging mob. At the Place Vendome, the cavalry
attempted to control the riot, only to find their horses surrounded and unmovable through the dense
crowd. The officers of the Swiss and Turkish armies attacked the rioters outright, but the

Justification of the Use of Terror: How it Ultimately Led...
The French Revolution is arguably the bloodiest period in French history, with men such as
Maximilien Robespierre leading the country into a situation of state sponsored terror. Originally
being quite a liberal thinker inspired by the works of Rousseau, Robespierre quickly gained a
reputation for being a radical throughout the course of the Revolution, especially during the Terror.
Early on terror was justified as a means to root out foreign and domestic enemies of the Revolution,
however; once the foreign threat had been taken care of it became increasingly difficult for
Robespierre to rationalize his use of terror to bring about a supposed Republic of Virtue. In his
speech, the "Justification of the use of Terror" which he presented to ... Show more content on

So that leaves question as to how it was that Robespierre transformed from a man who believed in a
government for the people to nearly becoming a tyrant himself. To understand this, one must
understand the circumstances which arose in France during the late eighteenth century that forced
him to take action. The driving problem throughout, however; was essentially the monarchy. The
regime of Louis XVI could hardly be considered that of a tyrant, but nevertheless his inability to
properly govern his country led to frustration and anger among the people of France. Robespierre
shared this sentiment in his speech, stating that "a nation is truly corrupted when, having by degrees
lost its character and its liberty, it passes from democracy to aristocracy or to monarchy; that is the
decrepitude and death of the body politic...." This also hints at Robespierre's earlier ideologies
concerned with Rousseau as he does make reference to the need for a nation to have a democratic
system. Louis XVI was a failing king, and even long before the National Convention had come into
power much of France vowed to see the monarchy abolished. By 1791 it had become increasingly
clear that Louis was no longer fit to govern – a moment marked by his attempted flight to Varennes.
This cost the king his credibility and he effectively 'died'

clever ways, the most developmental and vital belief systems of rock music, as prove by their
unending avoiding of restraining requests from performers who don 't need their dissident hollers

election, he will be the next President of the United States of America once he is inaugurated on
January 20, 2017. Unfortunately, the popular vote went to Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton and
many people believe that she gained popularity from the recent endorsement by several fellow
Democratic candidates along with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
Hillary Clinton was the first woman to run for the President of the United States of America. The
fact that she is a woman who has been in politics for more than two decades should give her

The Second Estate Formed A Chaotic State
France in 1793, was in a chaotic state. The masses of people that went against the aristocrats had
enough of the old policies. The civilians expressed their laws and policies during the early days of
'Republicanism'. Thus, the Third Estate embodied the enlightened principles of "equality, liberty,
and fraternity". The Third Estate formed a National Convention and prevailed with radical
ideologies. The Third Estate wanted these laws so desperately that they relied on the corrupt
"Committee of Public Safety" to generate terror upon the opposing forces in France, in order to
establish the new laws and policies. France was suffocating. The country didn't have enough funds
or food to sustain the population. So the elites stayed wealthy and fed; only by shunning the rest of
France. The people had grown tired of the mistreatment placed upon them. Simultaneously, the
radical National Convention formed in 1793. The Republic, gave common people a voice. A
republican named Jaques Roux expressed his frustrations, "The Republic is but an empty illusion
when the counterrevolution takes place daily because three quarters of the citizenry cannot afford
the price of basic foodstuffs and no one sheds a tear". Roux's angst is conveyed through the lack of
necessities consumed because of the revolution. The Republic need the people in order for them to
gain power. Roux is not in favour with all the other revolutionaries and loathed the greedy elites.

This shows that the new calendar was more secular because with the new calendar people began to

started to move towards a more secular world.
A lot of people agreed with the adoption of the new calendar by revolutionary France for many
reasons. Gilbert Romme, head of the calendar reform committee, believed that the church calendar
was born among ignorant people. He said "Time opens a new book for history, and it must use a new
pen to record the annals of a regenerated France." What Romme means by this is that since France is
going through new times, they need to change the calendar to fit it (Document 2). In "Instruction
Concerning the Era of the Republic and the Division of the Year" which was a decree of the
National Convention, it said that the new calendar will eliminate incoherence and inexactitude. This
means that with the new calendar people will be more exact and orderly because of more work days.
It also states that the new calendar will show the character of our revolution (Document 5). In the
letter to the National Convention from the village of St. Quirin, it says how the people spend their
day of rest. In the letter it says that they honor the memory of the generals who have become

The 1860 National Convention of the Republican Party of the United States, was held in Chicago,
Illinois at the Wigwam Convention Center. The Chicago Wigwam was constructed as a convention
hall and it was built near the corner of lake and market streets in Chicago. This exact area is where a
popular hotel was built and burnt down a couple years before. The Wigwam Convention Hall was
two stories high and it was 180 by 100 feet. It could hold thousands of convention goers. The cost of
the wigwam was 5,000 dollars and many people said it looked like a huge barn. Despite this, inside
it looked great with its color and shape designs, flags, and wreaths and with red white and blue
colors decorated throughout the halls. The Wigwam Republican convention was located in Chicago.
Chicago was voted as a neutral site as well as the best site for the convention. A strong case for this
was because it was based on 3 things and they were: the new railroad transportation, new
comfortable hotels and of course, it being a neutral territory. During this time, former Representative

there are many who deserve to be remembered with spite – people whose beliefs and actions were

are hated for centuries, mainly due to having made powerful enemies while alive. Maximilien
Robespierre, who is often regarded as the leading figure of the French Revolution and the symbol of
violent excess during that period, was one such person. Although the view of Robespierre within the
historical community has softened (to a certain degree), he remains a personification of evil in the
public mind. For example, the first result of a quick Google search for "most evil people" includes a
list of 25 historical figures, with Robespierre at no. 17, ahead of others such as Adolf Eichmann,
Heinrich Himmler, and Osama bin Laden. While this website is by no means a scholarly source, it
serves to underline the way in which the average person views Robespierre in a grossly inaccurate
fashion. The legacy that was created for Robespierre by political opponents who used him as a
scapegoat is not at all one that

Robespierre And The Sans Culottes Declared Essay
The month of September would be remembered as one of the bloodiest months in French history, in
particular, September 5, 1793. On this day, Robespierre and the Sans Culottes declared "terror is the
order of the day." These words would begin a period of violence where the "enemies of the
Revolution" were executed en masse. Between 1793 and 1794, thousands of French citizens were
imprisoned and hundreds were killed by a group called the Committee of Public Safety. They
claimed they were acting in the best interest of the people, but were, in fact, acting in the interest of
wiping out their political adversaries. The head of this "committee" was political leader Maximilien
Robespierre. He was referred to as "the incorruptible" by his peers because of his unwavering
commitment to the Revolution. By the end of this period however, he would fall victim to his own
committee. This would be the end of The Terror. The Terror cannot be isolated as a great event of
the French Revolution without first examining the events that lead to it. The flight of King Louis
XVI and his family, the eventual execution of the king and Marie Antoinette, the purge of the
Girodins as a political group, and the assassination of radical journalist, Jean–Paul Marat, are a few
of the significant events that lead to terror being called the order of the day. Although there are many
other significant events throughout the French Revolution, the aforementioned occurrences are key
in what led to the

Just Days Before The Republican National Convention
Just days before the Republican National Convention, GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump
has made his final decision in deciding who will join the ticket alongside him as his vice president –
Indiana Governor Mike Pence.
"I 'm here today to introduce the man who will be my partner in this campaign and White House,"
Trump said, beginning his remarks to a small crowd of New York supporters in the Hilton Hotel in
Midtown Manhattan. "I found the leader that will help us deliver a safe society and a prosperous
society, a really prosperous society, for all Americans."
The GOP presumptive nominee was slated unveil his VP pick at a news conference Friday morning
to generate buzz over the weekend before the convention. However, the horrific terrorist attacks in
Nice, France that left over 80 people dead and over 200 injured Thursday night left Trump to
respectful postpone the first joint appearance.
On Friday morning, Trump exposed Pence as his pick on twitter, confirming leak reports circulating
the night before and ending rumors that Trump would surprise everyone by picking another choice
besides Pence.
Trump met with Pence during the 4th of July weekend and both camps were in constant contact
even though the GOP nominee was vetting former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey
Governor Chris Christie. Pence, who was up for reelection as Governor, faced a major deadline on
Friday in deciding whether he would stay on the ballot or withdraw to run for vice president due to

Democratic National Convention Speech Versus Melania Trump
Debates and speeches are an enormous part of our lives as communicators, and having the skills to
properly address an audience is a key factor in becoming an effective speaker and persuader.
Persuasive speeches can be challenging because the speaker's objective is to get you to understand
why you should be on their side. Throughout the speech, they have to prove to their audience that
they are ethical, truthful, and passionate in order to spark an emotional response and win them over.
On this paper, I will be comparing Michelle Obama's 2008 Democratic National Convention speech
versus Melania Trump's 2016 Republican National Convention speech in order to determine who
gave the most powerful speech. I was able to identify the best speech by ... Show more content on

Her speech was a story, and a journey of her life. She made sure that every story had some type of
relatability to some aspects of our lives, and how there is never a dream to big if you are passionate
and are willing to work for it. Her speech was filled with enthusiasm and emotion. Towards the end
of her speech, she made a very deep remark which I found very inspiring. She stated, "They'll them

doubting and start dreaming. How this time, a girl from the south side of Chicago can go to college
and law school, and a son of a single mother from Hawaii can go all the way to the white house."
That quote resemble her idea of how we all have struggles and difficulties, but we also have the
power to overcome those hard times and become extraordinary individuals. If that quote was able to
spark such a positive emotional response in me, I can not only imagine how those word could have
brought so much hope to thousands of people who were going through worst things in their lives. If
a speech is able to inspire you and lift your spirit, it has truly done its job, and she should be very

Republican National Convention Speech Summary
As the once Primary opponent and current Texas Senator Ted Cruz walked onto the Republican
National Convention stage, millions of Americans watched feverishly as the belligerent politician
began to defy all expectations. After a formal and archetypal address from the establishment
legislator, Ted Cruz began to astound millions as he scornfully rejected the opportunity to endorse
the Republican Presidential Nominee. The multitudes of Trump delegates in the convention hall
began to heckle the speaker as Cruz stated, "Vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down
the ticket who you trust to defend our freedoms." Despite the unprecedented act of delivering a

Non Politician Oxymoron
The "Non–Politician" Oxymoron of American Political Lexicon
One of the most confusing phenomenon to anyone unfamiliar with the American political landscape
is about the "non–politician" or so–called "outsider" who is seeking a political office on the strength
of his inexperience or unfamiliarity with the political process. The public likes the idea of someone
who is an outsider to politics, who will come in and "straighten" out all the 'mess' the career
politicians have made. Most people running for an office for the first time (whether new to politics
or not) know this and are astute enough to paint themselves as "new", "fresh", 'outsider" etc.
But how do you seek an office that you know little or nothing about? In general, you can hardly ...

The Republican base wants "new" blood, "outsiders," to represent them in the upcoming election
primarily because they feel they've been lied to. While that may be true, it does not exonerate them
from their complicit credulity. It is indeed ironic that while they are reacting out of a sense of
betrayal, they inadvertently fall prey again to individuals who are representing themselves in less
than honest ways. I believe most politicians are a reflection of their base. So if the Republican base
wants better representation from politicians who will not lie to them, they should first learn to
change with the times and adjust their reality and expectations to the current political landscape.
That way, when someone promises them heaven and earth, or things that are unrealistic to achieve,
they will know they are

The Populist Movement Essay
The Populist Movement
The small farmers of America struggled through many agricultural problems during the late19th
century. Their exclusion from the industrializing society, and their lagging in developments set them
back from the rest of the country. Through their hardships they found a way to come together and
form a political movement that would represent their rights and needs and give them a voice in the
political decision making; it was called the
Populist movement. However, the formation of this movement didn't happen over night; it was a
complicated process, but in the end it paid off for the small farmers of America. The agricultural

The farmers wanted restrictions on railroads, buffer from market, and increase in money supply and
credit. To help achieve these desired changes, the Granges and Alliances were created. The Granges
and Alliances were organizations formed to help bring the farmers together, and help them to make
cooperatives so as to make a profit. These two systems were a large step in the emergence of the
Populist movement. The Granges were first started by Oliver H. Kelley, an Agriculture Department
official. The Grange came first and was created as a social organization for farmers. The
Grange system wanted to bring farmers together to learn new scientific agricultural techniques,
create a feeling of community between farmers, and organize cooperatives.
The Granges were temporarily successful, but eventually failed because of inexperience and
opposition of the middlemen. The decline of the Grange movement made way for the
Farmers' Alliances. The Alliance started in Texas in 1877 and welcomed men and women alike.
They, like the Granges, formed cooperatives so as to free the farmers from the dependence on the
large corporations. The Alliances spread quickly, but still had some of the same problems the
Granges had like inexperience, and the middlemen getting in the way. These frustrations helped

A Report On Wal Mart
I went to Wal–Mart today to pick up a few things...Big mistake. Instead of having a calm shopping
experience, I feel like my blood pressure went up about a million notches. I found what I was
looking for quickly enough, but then I decided to go over to the shoe department. Since I broke my
favorite sandals the other day, I thought I might find a pair of replacements. And guess what? I
found some very cute black flip flops with a tiny little 1 inch heel! And guess what else? They were
on roll back for $5! I was so excited...until I saw that they didn 't have my size. The same thing
happened to me at Nine West last fall. I found the cutest boots ever, but the largest size they had
available was a 9. Today at Wal–Mart, they had tons of size 5–6 flip flops, which I think is strange
because I 've never met an adult woman who wears a size 5. Even my friends who are 5"2 wear at
least a 7. So, if you 're out there and you 're reading this and you wear a size 5, then speak up and
prove me wrong. Also, upload a pic of your shoes so that I 'll believe you. Now, I know I have big
feet. People constantly told me that when I was a kid. Hell, I was already wearing a size 10 in the
sixth grade. As an adult, I wear an 11 or a 12, depending on the shoe. I am above average height (I
'm 5 '8), but I 've noticed that there are a lot of women who are much taller than I am, so I know that
a size 11–12 shouldn 't be that rare. I think stores should order more of the larger sizes. I 'm willing

are generally referred to as "treaty shopping". Treaty shopping cases typically involve persons who

The OECD has already analyzed the issue of bargain shopping in various settings:

to manage basic settlement shopping circumstances where salary is paid to a middle person

Essay about Georges-Jacques Danton of France and Leadership
Georges–Jacques Danton of France and Leadership
What is a leader? A leader as described by Webster's Dictionary is, "person who has commanding
authority or influence." A man in history who certainly fits that description is Georges–Jacques
Danton of France. Danton had a trouble childhood that included losing his father before his third
birthday, and having several encounters with animals that would eventually leave him deformed for
life. Danton's early political promise showed most one day in grade school. Back then, the
punishment for students was not detentions or demerits, but instead they were struck on the fingers
with a ruler. One day, Danton's friend Paré could not recite the assigned text, but refused to put out

He was voted as a delegate of Paris before fellow colleagues Desmoulins and Robespierre. He also
had the character to resign from the cabinet in order to put his full efforts into the National
Convention. He wanted so bad to wipe out the monarchy so on January the 16th of 1793, he voted
with the majority to have king Louis XVI executed (Dwyer, 81). In conclusion, Georges–Jacques
Danton was an outstanding figure that fought for the rights of the people during the French
Revolution. Georges–Jacques Danton's leadership roles can also be seen from his work in the
Committee of Public Safety. The National Convention adopted the Committee of Public Safety in
efforts to defend the new regime established by them. Danton's primary responsibility on the
Committee of Public Safety was national defense. He had to protect the people at all costs, and at
the same time, he had to deal with foreign affairs (Dwyer, 87). Other monarchial countries were
concerned that the idea of a republic would spread to their people, and thus start rebellions all over.
These countries wanted to siege France and stop this so–called nonsense at once. After the death of
Gabrielle, one of Danton's colleagues, he attempted to draw up a new constitution, known as the
Constitution of 1791. This proposal, however, was rejected by the Convention, but Danton
continued to speak in front of the members in efforts to persuade them to agree with his views
(Dwyer, 89). In summary,

Mary Fisher Speech Summary
During the late 1990s, the HIV virus spread to different parts of the world affecting millions of
people and causing the death of many people. The spread of the virus brought fear to many people,
especially those in America. Negative attitudes toward those with HIV or AIDS grew which made
those with the virus feel ashamed of being exposed to the virus. Mary Fisher argues that raising
awareness of HIV/AIDS is necessary to not only prevent the spread of the virus but to also help
support those, not stigmatize those, who are HIV positive. Through this argument, Fisher
encourages Republican Americans to put aside their political stances and bring awareness toward
HIV/AIDS. Toward the beginning of her speech at the Republican National ... Show more content

During her speech at the Republican National Convention, Fisher persuades Republicans to stop the
prejudice toward HIV/AIDS victims and inform people about how to prevent further spreading of
the virus. Fisher contrasts republican ideas of loving " justice" and "children" but ignoring
"injustice" and teaching children to highlight that people choose to focus on the positive good and
ignore the flaws of society along with the responsibilities of the individual in holding society
accountable. Fisher appeals to the Republicans' stigma in wanting love and justice and choosing to
ignore the injustice and fear that HIV/AIDS has brought toward those with the virus. In addition to
that, Fisher repeatedly notes that "If you believe you are safe, you are in danger..." in order to clearly
state that no one is safe from being exposed to HIV/AIDS in order to encourage white republicans to
participate in preventing the virus from spreading and victimizing people, including rich, white
Americans because now they're scared it could happen to them. Through her emphasis on her ideas
almost emphatically, Fisher is able to persuade Republican Americans to fight against the prejudice
toward those with the virus and inform children about HIV/AIDS and how to prevent it. As Fisher

Descriptive Essay About The Orlando Vacation
The Orlando Vacation
Vacations out of state are always fun, but taking a vacation for your favorite sport is always the best.
It was mid–June, and my AAU basketball team had decided we were going to participate in the 2017
YBOA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. I had been to this tournament before, and I knew it was
nothing to joke about. The national tournament consisted of over fifty very talented teams from
around the country that were competing for the title to bring back to their country. On the way to
Florida, my parents and I were definitely excited, but they could obviously tell I was a little nervous.
I knew the next week of my life was going to be a battle, but I also knew that my team had the
ability to place well in nationals and have fun. After the long nine–hour drive, I had finally arrived at
the hotel. It definitely lived up to its name, Floridays Resort. I was mesmerized at the beautiful
sights of the castle–like structure. As soon as we found a parking space my mom said, "Make sure
you get all of your bags out of the car."
"Yes, make sure you get your bags," my dad agreed. In my head, I was imagining how amazing this
week was going to be. For the rest of that weekend, I got to chill out and settle down. Tuesday
would be my first pool play game for the tournament, and it was going to be tough.
The day had come, it was finally time to go to the Orlando Convention Center for the first game. I
knew it had to be game day from the wonderful smell of home–made breakfast my family always
made. "Hurry up we're going to be late," my mother exclaimed from the kitchen. After we left the
hotel for the convention center, I met up with the rest of my teammates in the parking lot. The
convention center almost looked like an airport with its massive entrances and rooms on the inside.
As I walked with my team to the court we played on, I began to get butterflies in my stomach. Our
first opponent, the North Alabama Stars, was a very good team from what I had heard. Nevertheless,
we play at our expected level of play and won 72–42. This first win in the national tournament had
given my team a huge momentum boost heading into our next games. Later that day, we played
another team called the Louisiana Ambassadors.

The Symbols Of Louis In 'The Versace Incident'
Throughout our movie The Versace Incident, the character Robespierre maintains the same, pensive
and collected attitude that the historical figure was known for. The first scene of the movie shows
Robespierre, along with other members of the Third Estate, working in an office setting. As Louis
comes in and steals food from the workers, and Robespierre tries to tell him that it is not his to take.
This is symbolic of the monarchies increase in the price of bread prior to the French Revolution,
which lead to widespread starvation throughout the peasant class. In the scene where louis is
conversing with Robespierre, Danton, and members of the First and Second estates, Robespierre is
the only one who speaks out for the rights of the workers of the company. This is similar to how
Robespierre openly opposed many of the king's policies prior, and instead was in favor of more
radical social reformations. The ending scene of our movie shows Robespierre, Louis, and their
counterparts, discussing their actions, presumably after they have all died. When Robespierre tells
Louis that his fashion was too 1793, he is alluding to the execution of King Louis XVI. This shows
how Robespierre would have continued to believe that Louis brought the downfall of the French
monarchy upon himself, even after his own death. Robespierre and The French Revolution

eloquent language and admirable physique to

Republican National Convention Rhetorical Analysis
7 / 22 / 16
Hey Everybody!
So, the Republican National Convention is finally over! And I may sound like a broken record, but
this really, bothered me. As you all have probably heard already, the whole thing was basically about
fear.
I don't think it was an accident that fear came up as much as it did, I. think that this was meant to
purposely rile up ignorant voters who don't realize they're being manipulated. Most people aren't all
that educated about logical fallacies and propaganda despite thinking that they do. In fact this
misinformation may make them more susceptible.
Pathos is an emotionally manipulative tactic used to prey on the emotions of ignorant. It's actually
very easy to get caught up in the spell if emotions. With humans naturally being emotional creature
the effectiveness of this fallacy isn't exactly surprising. I think it is very very VERY important to
ALWAYS question your emotional reactions and whether it's rational to be feeling this way or not.
Anyway the tactic the RNC applied is called the "Appeal to Fear", or argumentum in terrorem. This
works by using fear as a motivator to get someone, let's say voters, to accept an idea or an agenda.
Fear can even be used to sell physical goods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Republican National Convention Analysis

  • 1. Republican National Convention Analysis The adoption of rules is subject to change every election cycle and is determined by the Republican National Convention prior to the convention date. An example of this is Rule 40b of the RNC which was in effect in 2012, but has not been adopted for the 2016 convention in Cleveland. Under this rule, a candidate must have the support of a majority of the delegates of at least eight states in order to get the nomination. Rule 40e then states that if no candidate has received the majority of votes, "the chairman of the convention shall direct the roll of the states be called again and shall repeat the calling of the roll until a candidate shall have received a majority of the votes." • 3. Eliminating Religion from Daily Life with the... During the revolutionary era in France, in which the National Convention took control of revolutionary France, a new calendar was adopted. This revolutionary calendar was implemented in November of 1793, in an attempt to replace the Gregorian calendar completely. The National Convention adopted a new calendar in France at the time of a revolution in an attempt to increase the number of work days on peasants and reduce the influence of Christianity throughout the country; however most of the general public as well as government officials reacted negatively. One major reason as of why the revolutionary calendar was put into effect was in order to eliminate religion from daily life. The traditional Gregorian calendar was originally ... However because this article was written under Napoleon I, and from the perspective of people who did not agree with the calendar the article may be very biased. Another reason for the adoption of a new calendar is that the government did not want religion to determine the lives of the French people. According to Pierre–Joseph, the Jacobins were attempting to rid France of religion and the old order by replacing it with Deism (Document eight). With the incorporation of deism into everyday life people could focus more on reason, being less influenced by religion. However, because Pierre–Joseph was a Girondin he was very opposed to the views of the Jocobins, so of course he believed the removal of religion from French society to have negative impacts. Less religious aspects in everyday life would allow the French people to be more productive by reducing their time to worship, in turn giving them more time to work. The revolutionary calendar sought out to improving productivity among the peasantry. The National Convention stated that the Gregorian calendar had too many religious holidays. One of the complaints in the Cahier de Doleances included the limitation on the number of religious holidays so that the so called "great people" were no longer a disadvantage to the state (Document one). In order to make the French people more productive there needed to be a reduction in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Carly Fiorina's Political Election Carly Fiorina joined the ranks of outsider candidates to run in the 2016 election, but unlike Donald Trump, did not brand herself as an overly populist candidate. Her ad "Take Our Country Back" might have populist appeals, but focuses on the liberal conventions of setting a political agenda and convincing voters that she can lead, despite being an outsider with no political experience. The spot begins by flashing images of her opponents and their tenures in government, with voiceovers pointing out how they have done nothing to advance the Republican platform during all these years. This populist shaming sets up Fiorina's liberal appeal and her agenda she calls a blueprint for America: Female Announcer: ...that a Republican failed to take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Presenting herself as an outsider implies that anyone, regardless of political background, has the ability to lead the United States, and her blueprint is a promise to the American people what that leadership will look like. Using voiceovers and critical depictions of the Republican establishments' tenures in office, Fiorina is able to identify and define the problem with American politics. The dark music and colors resemble something of horror, as each politicians' long histories in government have contributed to the nation's decline. The tone of the spot changes as the text "Had enough?" appear on the screen. The music rises, signaling to viewers that Fiorina's blueprint is the solution to the problems. This problem–solution format to the advertisement gives the spot a superhero appeal by identifying the political establishment as the problem plaguing America, and offering Carly Fiorina as an outsider solution to these problems. Following a visual of an architectural blueprint, Fiorina's solutions appear on the screen images of her speaking in the background suggest she is confident that these plans will succeed. Her solutions–tax reform, defeating ISIS, and provide fiscal responsibility, to name a few–broadly describe the content of this blueprint, but offer no supporting details. The Democratic Party Of The Republican Party Convention Speeches America is considered as a global superpower, and has a critical role to play in the global socioeconomic and political landscape. Critical examination of US presidential elections show that they draw widespread attention from across the globe. In many instances, the major political parties differ significantly on policies, a prospect that may work to the advantage or the disadvantage of the candidate for Democratic Party of the Republican Party. Trump further pointed out that large fractions of the US annual budgets are set aside to finance the international economic obligations of the country. As such, the Republicans pointed out that cutting such parts of the budget would help to boost the American economy and to reduce budget deficits. Further, the sect outlined that the allies of America will have to pay if the country is to offer military assistance and other services. Through this strategic approach, the republicans equally believed that returning American troops home and abandoning international missions would help save revenues that, in their view, are wasted on programs that do not directly benefit the American people. Ideally, the Republicans exhibited belief that continued involvement of America in international aids and assistive missions would affect the economy negatively, and would make America vulnerable in the global market (Smith 3). On debt, Donald Trump recounted his experience as a business mogul to be a value that will help him overcome the economic barriers and ensure that the country does not accumulate debts. Another fundamental subject that was explored in the Republican convention was trade between America and the international community. The Republican Party noted that America was getting raw deals in many instances. They cited the case of trade between America and china in which the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Napoleon Bonaparte, A Great Leader, The Politician,... Napoleon Bonaparte, soldier, general, politician, tyrant, emperor. Napoleon Bonaparte was a great many things. He ended the French revolution, bringing stability and order to a country stricken with chaos. He accomplished civil reforms that other countries could only dream off in matter of a few years, restoring financial stability, reformed the education system, instituted an extensive program of public works, centralized the governmental systems which is still in effect today in France, and settled disputes with the almighty Catholic Church, the list of his great accomplishments go on and on. Napoleon was born to Carlo Buonaparte, a Corsican lawyer, and his wife Letizia Ramolino on August 15, 1769. The Buonapartes were descended from minor Italian nobility of Tuscan origin, who had come to Corsica from Liguria in the 16th century. He had an elder brother named Joseph, and six younger siblings, Lucien, Elisa, Louis, Pauline, Caroline and Jerome. During his infant years civil strife surrounded him, the people of Corsica were rising up against the French occupiers, originally his family had sided with the nationalists, but after their leader Pasquale was forced to flee, Carlo turned his coat and sided with the French. After his betrayal he was appointed a plush job as the accessor of the judicial district of Ajaccio. Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death Speech Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death Speech Gaining the credibility in a speech can be difficult at times and can test even the best speakers ability to keep the crowds attention and respect. One of the ways to keep credibility with a crowd is practicing and applying appeal to ethics. Which is defined as winning the favor of the audience by showing strong credibility in the speaker (Merriam– Webster). One of the best speeches that exemplifies the usage of appeal to ethics is Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death" speech where he addresses an issue of war at the revolutionary convention. Henry increased his credibility through the use of benevolence, where he made the audience feel as if they too were included in Henry's dream of the chance to stand up for their freedom. When Henry said "Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house?" He is drawing upon the audiences good will in that he wants them to imagine that image in their heads and what it could develop into once they have full control. By addressing this, not only did he establish his credibility in that he to would belong to the group of people whose houses would be guarded but also, he was willing to fight for what belonged to them and deserved. This implied they should do the same for he was in the same boat as they are in terms of the need to bear arms and choosing to fight for their peace and freedom from Britain. The need for the people to understand that if they were to sit around and wait for peaceful arguments to settle the war this would only lead to failure and Britain's victory, this then became serious and was addressed throughout Henry's speech. Henry did not want to be the only one going into the war with a will to fight and he realized this, it was only through his benevolence that he could reach the peoples hearts and help them to see ... • 13. Maximilien Robespierre of France is One of the World's... What makes an effective leader? Just because a leader is good doesn't mean they're effective and just because a leader is effective doesn't mean they're good. Maximilien Robespierre was one of the leaders of France that had a firm grip over the whole country as head of the Committee of Public Safety. Even though Maximilien Robespierre, a philosophical leader during the French Revolution, had many good leadership qualities at first, due to his advancement in authority he became power crazy and started turning on his own colleagues and the people of France. People know Robespierre's role in the French Revolution, but do they know about his personal life? Maximilien Robespierre was born in 1758 in the old province of Artois, France. He was born into a family of lawyers (Reil and Wilson). His father worked for the Council of Artois (Reil and Wilson), so Robespierre was familiar with politics and government at a young age. Robespierre also had a brother, Augustin, and two sister. At an early age he distinguished himself as a student showing great potential. While in school he studied the writings of the Enlightenment which would greatly influence him for years to come. In 1781 (Reil and Wilson), he attained a degree in law and soon after he represented the Third Estate which was the French bourgeoisie and the working class of France before the French Revolution had occurred. He was now on his way to being head of France but he still had some obstacles set before him. In 1789 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Causes Of The French Revolution The Terror was a set of institutions put in place to protect the revolution while France was in a state of panic from the extreme military and domestic emergency. The belief of danger, from many deputies, that the Revolution itself was in danger of ruin by enemies real and imagined resulted in repression. This repression was justified by revolutionaries to preserve the Revolution. Certain factors led to the rise in conspiracy and paranoia among revolutionaries in the cities and those in the Convention of enemies lurking everywhere. These factors are the military failures in the French northern front due to Austrian counterattack. The counter forces of the Austrian military put foreign enemies on French soil again and resulted in panic among revolutionaries that foreign nations will succeed in ending the Revolution. The recruitment riots in the provinces, led by anti–revolutionary rural citizens, acted as proof to revolutionaries that the internal enemies conducting the civil war are causing the military failures of the French army by foreign enemies. The assassination of the Montagnard, Marat, supported the revolutionaries belief that internal enemies are out to hunt revolutionary leaders and bring an end to the revolution. These events led to measures that would commence the disintegration of the Republic and start of the Terror to protect France's revolution from enemies domestic and abroad. • 17. The Reign Of Terror Essay The Reign of Terror History is said to be written by the winners, but is it possible to rewrite history? In a way, the French, like many who have preceded them, and many who will proceed them have done the impossible, rewriting history. From trivial folklore, such as George Washington chopping down a cherry tree, to the incredibly wrong, the African slave trade; people's views of history can be shaped and molded. The French have done a superb job of instilling all of us with the concept that their Revolution was a fight for liberty, justice and the good of all Frenchmen everywhere. They swore to remain indivisible until a constitution had been formed. As they met at the church of St. Louis, the King was delayed in his attempt to end this display of independence. Finally, he informed them, that he would not allow any reforms to be made, unless he approved of them. Unfortunately, their will would not be easily undone, and in a vote to four hundred ninety three to ninety four, the National Assembly declared that serious action would be taken against the King. With such an resounding opposition, on June 27th, 1789, Louis XVI gave into their demands. Educated in Paris, a young man of twenty six years, would be one of the first to set off the spark of revolution. Jumping on top of a table at the Palais Royale, a social gathering place in Paris, he spoke out against the enemies of the people in a well scripted oration. The crowd quickly fawned over their new found hero, marching through the streets of Paris, even interrupting a performance at the Paris opera. Military forces were required to remedy the situation, yet Paris only had six thousand troops with which to defend itself against the rampaging mob. At the Place Vendome, the cavalry attempted to control the riot, only to find their horses surrounded and unmovable through the dense crowd. • 19. Justification of the Use of Terror: How it Ultimately Led... The French Revolution is arguably the bloodiest period in French history, with men such as Maximilien Robespierre leading the country into a situation of state sponsored terror. Originally being quite a liberal thinker inspired by the works of Rousseau, Robespierre quickly gained a reputation for being a radical throughout the course of the Revolution, especially during the Terror. Early on terror was justified as a means to root out foreign and domestic enemies of the Revolution, however; once the foreign threat had been taken care of it became increasingly difficult for Robespierre to rationalize his use of terror to bring about a supposed Republic of Virtue. In his speech, the "Justification of the use of Terror" which he presented to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So that leaves question as to how it was that Robespierre transformed from a man who believed in a government for the people to nearly becoming a tyrant himself. To understand this, one must understand the circumstances which arose in France during the late eighteenth century that forced him to take action. The driving problem throughout, however; was essentially the monarchy. The regime of Louis XVI could hardly be considered that of a tyrant, but nevertheless his inability to properly govern his country led to frustration and anger among the people of France. Robespierre shared this sentiment in his speech, stating that "a nation is truly corrupted when, having by degrees lost its character and its liberty, it passes from democracy to aristocracy or to monarchy; that is the decrepitude and death of the body politic...." This also hints at Robespierre's earlier ideologies concerned with Rousseau as he does make reference to the need for a nation to have a democratic system. Louis XVI was a failing king, and even long before the National Convention had come into power much of France vowed to see the monarchy abolished. By 1791 it had become increasingly clear that Louis was no longer fit to govern – a moment marked by his attempted flight to Varennes. This cost the king his credibility and he effectively 'died' ... In 1890, legislators in Mississippi called a constitutional convention, implementing poll taxes, literacy requirements, and banned voting for people convicted of theft, perjury, arson, bribery, and burglary. Whites thought if they could put a limit to the educational achievements of Negroes, they could also stop their aspirations for Negro advancement. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Admission to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland, has been postponed for the current week, apparently so Republican National Convention–goers can unreservedly visit the "Louder Than Words: Rock, Power, and Politics" show shortly possessing its upper floors. This appears like a smart thought. For quite a long time, Republican crusades have profoundly misjudged, regularly in clever ways, the most developmental and vital belief systems of rock music, as prove by their unending avoiding of restraining requests from performers who don 't need their dissident hollers related, even incidentally, with preservationist motivation. Now and again I get a kick out of the chance to envision that there is a solitary chuckling, since quite a while ago haired d.j. in charge of the most recent forty years of walkout–music disasters. He appreciates a solid toke and a snicker. Only he prompted up "Conceived in the U.S.A." (an against war melody) for Ronald Reagan or "This Land Is My Land" (a tune that mourns disparity) for George H. W. Hedge. This year, he picked Aerosmith 's "Fantasy On," a substantial, spiraling tune about death that Donald Trump in the long run needed to quit utilizing in light of the fact that the band more than once whined. • 29. President Elect Donald Trump And The Republican National... There have been several talks about President–Elect Donald Trump and the Republicans surprising landslide victory in the recent election results for the President, Congress, and House of Representatives. Although Donald Trump did not win the popular vote in the November 8th election, he will be the next President of the United States of America once he is inaugurated on January 20, 2017. Unfortunately, the popular vote went to Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton and many people believe that she gained popularity from the recent endorsement by several fellow Democratic candidates along with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Hillary Clinton was the first woman to run for the President of the United States of America. The fact that she is a woman who has been in politics for more than two decades should give her additional motivation when she speaks during her campaign run. Like Hillary, first lady Michelle Obama has been very influential with her speeches as well. Over the past eight years, first lady Michelle Obama has been known for her great speeches at the Democratic National Convention. The most recent speech was at the 2016 Democratic National Convention when she spoke highly of Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton in terms of rhetorical criticism. The way she spoke about Clinton and her campaign run was one of the biggest reasons why I chose First Lady Obama as the Rhetor to talk about. The civilians expressed their laws and policies during the early days of 'Republicanism'. Thus, the Third Estate embodied the enlightened principles of "equality, liberty, and fraternity". The Third Estate formed a National Convention and prevailed with radical ideologies. The Third Estate wanted these laws so desperately that they relied on the corrupt "Committee of Public Safety" to generate terror upon the opposing forces in France, in order to establish the new laws and policies. France was suffocating. The country didn't have enough funds or food to sustain the population. So the elites stayed wealthy and fed; only by shunning the rest of France. The people had grown tired of the mistreatment placed upon them. Simultaneously, the radical National Convention formed in 1793. The Republic, gave common people a voice. A republican named Jaques Roux expressed his frustrations, "The Republic is but an empty illusion when the counterrevolution takes place daily because three quarters of the citizenry cannot afford the price of basic foodstuffs and no one sheds a tear". Roux's angst is conveyed through the lack of necessities consumed because of the revolution. The Republic need the people in order for them to gain power. The new calendar in revolutionary France, showed how France started to move towards a more secular world. A lot of people agreed with the adoption of the new calendar by revolutionary France for many reasons. Gilbert Romme, head of the calendar reform committee, believed that the church calendar was born among ignorant people. He said "Time opens a new book for history, and it must use a new pen to record the annals of a regenerated France." What Romme means by this is that since France is going through new times, they need to change the calendar to fit it (Document 2). In "Instruction Concerning the Era of the Republic and the Division of the Year" which was a decree of the National Convention, it said that the new calendar will eliminate incoherence and inexactitude. • 35. The 1860 National Convention of the Republican Party of... The 1860 National Convention of the Republican Party of the United States, was held in Chicago, Illinois at the Wigwam Convention Center. The Chicago Wigwam was constructed as a convention hall and it was built near the corner of lake and market streets in Chicago. This exact area is where a popular hotel was built and burnt down a couple years before. The Wigwam Convention Hall was two stories high and it was 180 by 100 feet. It could hold thousands of convention goers. The cost of the wigwam was 5,000 dollars and many people said it looked like a huge barn. Despite this, inside it looked great with its color and shape designs, flags, and wreaths and with red white and blue colors decorated throughout the halls. The Wigwam Republican convention was located in Chicago. Chicago was voted as a neutral site as well as the best site for the convention. A strong case for this was because it was based on 3 things and they were: the new railroad transportation, new comfortable hotels and of course, it being a neutral territory. During this time, former Representative Abraham Lincoln of Illinois was nominated for President and Senator Hannibal Hamlin of Maine for Vice President. Lincoln presented himself as a man of the people. • 41. Robespierre, The French Revolution And The Symbol Of Evil... Those people of the past that are studied as "historical figures" – major and minor – make up a virtually insignificant portion of the people that have inhabited the earth since the beginning of civilization. And yet to die without a memorable legacy is much more desirable a fate than to be remembered with enduring hatred for what one accomplished and stood for during life. Certainly, there are many who deserve to be remembered with spite – people whose beliefs and actions were unacceptable whether evaluated in a modern context or that of their own period. And yet still some are hated for centuries, mainly due to having made powerful enemies while alive. Maximilien Robespierre, who is often regarded as the leading figure of the French Revolution and the symbol of violent excess during that period, was one such person. Although the view of Robespierre within the historical community has softened (to a certain degree), he remains a personification of evil in the public mind. For example, the first result of a quick Google search for "most evil people" includes a list of 25 historical figures, with Robespierre at no. 17, ahead of others such as Adolf Eichmann, Heinrich Himmler, and Osama bin Laden. • 43. Robespierre And The Sans Culottes Declared Essay The month of September would be remembered as one of the bloodiest months in French history, in particular, September 5, 1793. On this day, Robespierre and the Sans Culottes declared "terror is the order of the day." These words would begin a period of violence where the "enemies of the Revolution" were executed en masse. Between 1793 and 1794, thousands of French citizens were imprisoned and hundreds were killed by a group called the Committee of Public Safety. They claimed they were acting in the best interest of the people, but were, in fact, acting in the interest of wiping out their political adversaries. The head of this "committee" was political leader Maximilien Robespierre. He was referred to as "the incorruptible" by his peers because of his unwavering commitment to the Revolution. By the end of this period however, he would fall victim to his own committee. This would be the end of The Terror. The Terror cannot be isolated as a great event of the French Revolution without first examining the events that lead to it. The flight of King Louis XVI and his family, the eventual execution of the king and Marie Antoinette, the purge of the Girodins as a political group, and the assassination of radical journalist, Jean–Paul Marat, are a few of the significant events that lead to terror being called the order of the day. The public likes the idea of someone who is an outsider to politics, who will come in and "straighten" out all the 'mess' the career politicians have made. These two systems were a large step in the emergence of the Populist movement. The Granges were first started by Oliver H. Kelley, an Agriculture Department official. The Grange came first and was created as a social organization for farmers. The Grange system wanted to bring farmers together to learn new scientific agricultural techniques, create a feeling of community between farmers, and organize cooperatives. The Granges were temporarily successful, but eventually failed because of inexperience and opposition of the middlemen. The decline of the Grange movement made way for the Farmers' Alliances. The Alliance started in Texas in 1877 and welcomed men and women alike. They, like the Granges, formed cooperatives so as to free the farmers from the dependence on the large corporations. Instead of having a calm shopping experience, I feel like my blood pressure went up about a million notches. In conclusion, Georges–Jacques Danton was an outstanding figure that fought for the rights of the people during the French Revolution. Georges–Jacques Danton's leadership roles can also be seen from his work in the Committee of Public Safety. The National Convention adopted the Committee of Public Safety in efforts to defend the new regime established by them. Danton's primary responsibility on the Committee of Public Safety was national defense. He had to protect the people at all costs, and at the same time, he had to deal with foreign affairs (Dwyer, 87). Other monarchial countries were concerned that the idea of a republic would spread to their people, and thus start rebellions all over. These countries wanted to siege France and stop this so–called nonsense at once. After the death of Gabrielle, one of Danton's colleagues, he attempted to draw up a new constitution, known as the Constitution of 1791. • 69. Third Eye Blind Research Paper On Tuesday, Third Eye Blind, the '90s band whose greatest hit, "Semi–Charmed Kind of Life," made meth sound adorable, played an intentionally shitty set in Cleveland in a demonstration of challenge against the Republican National Convention. The Convention has been playing out less like a Convention and more like fan fiction around a Convention, so it appeared well and good. These were the saints we'd been sitting tight for! Intense, capricious men, time travelers sent here to protect us from cutting edge despotism without brutality. They saw what we had missed all along – all you need to do to battle Trump is play disliked Third Eye Blind tunes. "You can boo all you need," frontman Stephan Jenkins told the crowd in Cleveland. Challenge melodies are out and about in large numbers: take a gander at Kendrick Lamar's "Okay," Beyonce's "Development," J.Cole's "Be Free," Kanye West's "We Don't Care," Lauryn Hill's "Dark Rage," even Childbirth's "I Only Fucked You as a Joke." What the end of the Bush period saw was a decrease in the acknowledgment of "dissent" music predicated on rural shock. The alt–brother dissent tune was pleasant. It was a saint in its own brain. It gave an emotional setting to Ethan Embry or Freddie Prinze Jr. to get the young lady toward the end of the romantic comedy. In any case, it was likewise whiny, ailing in subtlety, and went for a demographic that was befuddled about what "disappointed" means. It's kind of fitting that now, in our the previous summer before the apocalypse, Stephan Jenkins – well–intentioned yet oddly out of touch – should rise up out of the wild of playing club shows to talk yet again for the ... • 71. Descriptive Essay About The Orlando Vacation The Orlando Vacation Vacations out of state are always fun, but taking a vacation for your favorite sport is always the best. It was mid–June, and my AAU basketball team had decided we were going to participate in the 2017 YBOA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. I had been to this tournament before, and I knew it was nothing to joke about. The national tournament consisted of over fifty very talented teams from around the country that were competing for the title to bring back to their country. On the way to Florida, my parents and I were definitely excited, but they could obviously tell I was a little nervous. I knew the next week of my life was going to be a battle, but I also knew that my team had the ability to place well in nationals and have fun. After the long nine–hour drive, I had finally arrived at the hotel. It definitely lived up to its name, Floridays Resort. I was mesmerized at the beautiful sights of the castle–like structure. As soon as we found a parking space my mom said, "Make sure you get all of your bags out of the car." "Yes, make sure you get your bags," my dad agreed. In my head, I was imagining how amazing this week was going to be. For the rest of that weekend, I got to chill out and settle down. Tuesday would be my first pool play game for the tournament, and it was going to be tough. The day had come, it was finally time to go to the Orlando Convention Center for the first game. I knew it had to be game day from the wonderful smell of home–made breakfast my family always made. "Hurry up we're going to be late," my mother exclaimed from the kitchen. After we left the hotel for the convention center, I met up with the rest of my teammates in the parking lot. The convention center almost looked like an airport with its massive entrances and rooms on the inside. As I walked with my team to the court we played on, I began to get butterflies in my stomach. Our first opponent, the North Alabama Stars, was a very good team from what I had heard. Nevertheless, we play at our expected level of play and won 72–42. This first win in the national tournament had given my team a huge momentum boost heading into our next games. Later that day, we played another team called the Louisiana Ambassadors. ... • 73. The Symbols Of Louis In 'The Versace Incident' Throughout our movie The Versace Incident, the character Robespierre maintains the same, pensive and collected attitude that the historical figure was known for. The first scene of the movie shows Robespierre, along with other members of the Third Estate, working in an office setting. As Louis comes in and steals food from the workers, and Robespierre tries to tell him that it is not his to take. This is symbolic of the monarchies increase in the price of bread prior to the French Revolution, which lead to widespread starvation throughout the peasant class. In the scene where louis is conversing with Robespierre, Danton, and members of the First and Second estates, Robespierre is the only one who speaks out for the rights of the workers of the company. This is similar to how Robespierre openly opposed many of the king's policies prior, and instead was in favor of more radical social reformations. The ending scene of our movie shows Robespierre, Louis, and their counterparts, discussing their actions, presumably after they have all died. When Robespierre tells Louis that his fashion was too 1793, he is alluding to the execution of King Louis XVI. This shows how Robespierre would have continued to believe that Louis brought the downfall of the French monarchy upon himself, even after his own death. Robespierre and The French Revolution Maximilien Robespierre, a radical Jacobin, during the time of the French Revolution, used his eloquent language and admirable physique to ... • 77. Republican National Convention Rhetorical Analysis 7 / 22 / 16 Hey Everybody! So, the Republican National Convention is finally over! And I may sound like a broken record, but this really, bothered me. As you all have probably heard already, the whole thing was basically about fear. I don't think it was an accident that fear came up as much as it did, I. think that this was meant to purposely rile up ignorant voters who don't realize they're being manipulated. Most people aren't all that educated about logical fallacies and propaganda despite thinking that they do. In fact this misinformation may make them more susceptible. Pathos is an emotionally manipulative tactic used to prey on the emotions of ignorant. It's actually very easy to get caught up in the spell if emotions. With humans naturally being emotional creature the effectiveness of this fallacy isn't exactly surprising. I think it is very very VERY important to ALWAYS question your emotional reactions and whether it's rational to be feeling this way or not. Anyway the tactic the RNC applied is called the "Appeal to Fear", or argumentum in terrorem. This works by using fear as a motivator to get someone, let's say voters, to accept an idea or an agenda. Fear can even be used to sell physical goods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gun sales are climbing up as fear climbs up.
