Summary Essays Sentence: The essay Stephen Marche wrote "Is Facebook Making Us Lonely" is
talking about with the technology what the society looks like now, and social media like Facebook
and twitter have made us more densely network than ever. Paragraph: In Stephen Marche's article,
Facebook is a reason people are becoming move lonely and standard. The relationship between
technology and loneliness is strong. According to the article people who spend their time on devices
and social network sights are finding themselves lacking in the ability to communicate in person.

Facebook, in particular, is the target of this article, with its enormous audience, Facebook is the go–
to website to see the latest gossip, get in touch with everyone, and be in touch with everyone. So a
lot of people give up face–to –face to talk with each other instead using the Facebook or any other
technology. The research put into the lonely topic consists of psychologist's opinions and real
events. For example, the books Sherry Turkle wrote like "Life on the screen" and "Alone together"
can see how serious the impact is. Another effect is loneliness is not a matter of external conditions
but rather more of a psychological state, which can cause neuroticism, or anxiety with due time. For
example, John Cacioppo, the director of the center for cognitive and social neuroscience at the
University of Chicago, says the epidemic of loneliness is affecting the basic functions of human
physiology. And in one experiment, Cacioppo confirmed "The greater the proportion of online
interactions, the lonelier you are." What's more, in the article, the author shows us many other
researchers and examples from the professional study prove his topic "Is Facebook making us
lonely." For example, Moira Burke concludes that the effect of Facebook depends on what people
bring to it. And her research does not support the assertion that Facebook creates loneliness. So in

The Educational Value of Exhibitions in Musuems
Definition of exhibition
Before proceeding to the discussion of relationship between exhibition, communication and
education, the meaning of the term should be clarified first. The term exhibition implies several
meanings owing to a movement within different context and style of each professional realm. As the
definition shows in oxford dictionary, the word exhibition can be defined as 'a public display of
works of art or items of interest, held in an art gallery or museum or at a trade fair', and it is also
refer to synonyms 'display', 'show'. Similarly, here we can further defined the display as a method of
communication and scenario that convey diverse content to the audience in certain period or a
specific space with the purpose of information transmitting, promotion, education and
enlightenment (Huang and Wu:1998, p.8). Although there is subtle difference of definition and the
representative word of exhibition, it is noteworthy that we can hardly investigate the display apart
from media, message, and audience.
Exhibition, communication, and knowledge shaping.
When it comes to the exhibition in museums, there is increasing discussion of museum as dialogue
environment and its learning impacts on audience. Modern museums have gradually transferred
their emphasis from collection, conservation and research to display and education. Besides the
traditional functions of museum, 吉村典夫( 1979: 104–107) maintains that organisation is
encouraged to develop responsibilities–

How My Major and Minor Will Help in My Endeavors
Explaining the importance of my major and minor is very simple. My major will be general
business; the reasoning behind this choice is I have always been fascinated by business. I loved my
economics classes which fueled my interest for investing and looking at companies and gauging
their worth and risk. In this regard i feel like having a general business degree will help me find a
job in anything business as I will have a wide spread knowledge on the topic, while I do love
business that is not my main goal. To understand that you have to look at my minor, this will be
communications.
I have always been a people person, I loved talking with everyone about anything and understanding
their interests and expressing my own. In the past semester I took a speech class and found I really
enjoyed it which got me thinking about what i wanted to do when I graduate. This is when it all
comes together. My major is business which will give me the background into business that I need.
My minor is communications which will give me the skills I need to go into either public relations
or a salesman for a large company. I feel the importance of these degrees should be easily
identifiable. Everyone needs someone to talk for and be the face for a large company. That is where
I see myself in ten years, working for a company as a public relations representative. My degree in
business will give me credibility and know how into the subject while my communications minor

The Importance of Effective Supervision Through Communication
The Importance of Effective Supervision Through Communication The importance of a good
effective supervisor with good communication skills, will prove to be one of the most valuable tools
to any business or working environment, the benefits are both measurable and un–measurable. The
ability to give clear, complete, concise, consistent, correct and courteous information can only show
the follower that you are aware, that their understanding of information is your main focus, and for
those on the receiving end of the conversation; you show them your ability to be an attentive and
active listener, which gives the indication to the speaker, that what they are saying is important to

People want to be enlightened or shown appreciation for their time, so one must have the tools to
determine what approaches to use, whether they be direct or persuasive, their must be a connection

can make educated decisions that may be beneficial to their own world and that of the team as well.
The leader should also have the insight to give place to the input from the followers when
appropriate, for the best solutions will come from those that are the closest to the problem, while
giving empowerment to all directly involved. In the realm of the public and customer service, it is
imperative to the future of any business to provide the customer a reason to return to you or even tell
their friends about you. The impressions that we make to those who are seeking a service from us;
although they will never forget a bad experience, will tell everyone and if the experiences are good,
they will return happily and your hope will be; that they will also tell everyone else. There is a lot to

Bad News Communication
If my boss decided that I would be just the person to handle this project, I would approach the news
channels and newspaper differently. First of all, I wouldn't give out statements if I'm not a hundred
percent sure because any false statement I can lose my career. Second of all, there should only be
one news reporter to reports news of information on television to receive accurate information and
not guessing on information being bought out from other reporter. I feel like reporters back in the
days feels they need to impress their employer to get promoted, so information is being overheard
and is not a hundred percent true but rumors. Third, if I'm assigned to this job I would be at the
scene and see it for myself to confirm that the information I attain are true facts or ask the officers
that are in charge of the situation. I would double check the information to make sure they are
correct or wait until everybody is reveal to confirm true facts because false information will
emotionally and physically effects on the people have passed away. I personally think that these
reporters wanted to get a good promotion and got out the information too fast which turn out so bad
that it turns out false information lead by the reporters. I think these reporter shouldn't have reports
the information when there not one hundred percent sure that the information is true. Plus they were
doubting the information were true and hoping that it was true but turns out bad that all the

Barriers to Effective Communication
Barriers to Effective Communications
Everyone has experienced, at one time or another the frustration of feeling misunderstood and being
unable to make ourselves understood by another person. Anything which, blocks the meaning of a
communication, is a barrier to communication. Effective communication is like a house built one
block at a time. First to build a house trust must be built; trust is not a group process it is created in
one to one connections with each individual. Second, be bold and open, better communications are
clear, direct, respect, reflective and frequent. And finally, strive to continually overcome the barriers
to effective communication, challenge others to grow and educate your self. There are many barriers

A misunderstanding between people can quickly erase all trust. Without trust between people when
communication is taking place an individual's defensives will be up. Being in this defensive state
can lead to many conflicts between people. To be successful in the work place a strong level of trust
is required. Trust and effective communication among workers can determine the success of a
corporation. There are steps individuals can take to reduce the chances that others will become
defensive when they are engaged in conversation. Being encouraging when speaking with others is
important. When talking with others make the point you are trying to convey with as much sincerity
as possible. People don't care how much we know until they know how much we care. Thinking
about what you say before speaking to others is an effective way to reduce the chances of causing
another person to become defensive. Another positive communication technique is to convey your
message to others in a cheerful tone. By using positive communication techniques individuals can
reduce the instances that cause others to become defensive. These techniques will create a positive
work environment and help a company to be successful. There are several barriers to effective
communication. Another important barrier for communication is language. There are many different
languages in this world. At work there are CO–workers who are bilingual, they can speak

Persuasive Essay For The Best Summer Wedding
The Best Summer Wedding Outfits for Guests in 2017
Who doesn't enjoy a good wedding? Love is in the air, everyone is upbeat and happy because they're
celebrating the ultimate display of commitment. Whether you are single and looking to mingle,
hoping for a proposal soon, or you're already married – it's a special day that you want to look your
absolute best for. There are so many styles out there, though, it's difficult to know where to start the
search for the ultimate outfit. Let us help you out.
Maxi Dresses
There's nothing quite like a floral maxi dress to capture summer, stay cool and comfortable and look
stunning. Go for the black floral print to be the best dressed wedding guest of 2017.
Jacquard Dress
The beauty of this style is that it is dressy enough for a wedding, but casual enough to wear again
and again. Choose a bright colour to capture the summer and pair with even brighter jewellery to
take it to the next level.
Stretch Cotton Dress
It's a comfortable fit and comes in plenty of beautiful floral prints, and like the Jacquard Dress it's an
excellent option for a plethora of occasions.
The Backless Maxi
Yes, there is more than one type of maxi dress and opting for a backless number with a front slit is
the optimum way to capture a flirty style that is sure to turn heads (without distracting from the
bride too much).

Introduction
The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the
dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon &
Weaver 1949), Foulger 's ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of
communication (Eunson 2012).
In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here
on will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose
during the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. From
there the essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which of
these best simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004)
Eunson 's expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger 's as well as Shannon
and Weaver 's models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and
Mark due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre–
edit and then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the
message. Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of
encoding, and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to
decode the message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between
George and Mark due to the factors mentioned before.
Context
Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012)
Conclusion
I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the
complexities of this situation, and that Foulger 's model too broad and not able to focus on the
problems that need to be addressed.
Therefore, I believe that Eunson 's expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use
out of the three models that were written about because Eunson 's model has shown how a message
from George is first pre–edited

The Revolution : Effects Of Ephemeral Messaging
Snapchat Revolution: Effects of Ephemeral Messaging
Debuted in September of 2011, Snapchat is a multi–messaging application for mobile devices
developed by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy (Hempel & Lashinsky, 2014). The phenomenon of
'self–destructing messages' has significant implications for personal communication. Snapchat, an
evolutionary innovation, revisits ephemeral dialogue amid the contemporary ubiquity of digital
permanence–where increasingly, communication assets are virtually stored and endlessly
retrievable. The history of the vaporizing message, at first unintentional and later revised as an
innovation in personal digital communication, is essentially shaped by changing ideas of privacy,
permanence and propriety. How this medium constricts or encourages communication is particularly
relevant as notions of scarcity and feedback are remixed on an uninitiated generation. By asking
these questions, we hope to better understand the role of Snapchat and ephemeral messaging in an
environment of digital permanence. Ancient Human Conversations
Human communication has been transformed by the various technologies that have enabled and
enriched it through time. At its most basic and frequent, people speak to each other aloud. As Ong
(1982) wrote: "Sound exists only when it is going out of existence. It is not simply perishable, but
essentially evanescent" (as cited in Crowley & Heyer, 2011, p. 49). In a contemporary world where
literacy itself can mean facility with the

Online Writing vs Formal English
We have come full circle in forms of communication. From "cave man" grunts, body and hand
gestures, and pictographic wall paintings, to "cubicle man" lols (laugh–out–loud), ttyls (talk–to–
you–later), and smiley face emoticons, we are regressing to an earlier form of interactions. The
expressive and communicative richness of writing is slowly becoming the archeological relics of an
electronic modern society. I am no stranger to this failing. I started high school with a loose grasp of
the tools of writing; I left high school with a, slightly, better grasp of those tools. Now, as my high
school years fall farther behind me, and the academic language of writing erodes, the loose grasp of
writing skills I had is becoming far looser. My writing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Texting for me is an all–day experience. I communicate when or where I will be, or check up on
what people are doing. I use digital shorthand here more than anywhere. Most words are not spelled
out in full, "cumn ovr nw" (Coming over now.), and "wht r u doin" (What are you doing?). Even the
accepted cyber vernacular is ignored in favor of my own gibberish. Mostly I write to a specific
audience not an unknown reader, and take liberties with my words.
My major failing when I try to assimilate my techno–text with a scholastic essay is, I am not used to
communicating in a formal manner to a potentially critical and voluntary reader. With the
ambiguous, sometimes incoherent cyber darts of communiqué; my message is set adrift with little
care about how it is received. It is more a self–centered tap on someone's electronic shoulder saying,
"I'm here", and with no thought whether they want to read what I write. When my complete thoughts
are expressed, they are often ambiguous. I write easily discarded words. I cannot use this form for
my English class. In the essays required for school, I have to write carefully and in an engaging way.
One pitfall I find with essay writing is I sometimes fall into a style that is the complete opposite of
my text style. I use large words with a meandering train of thought, and start to show off instead of
communicate. When I start to write, either I try to be clever with abstract and off

A Brief Note On Death By Social Media
Death by social media. Social media, for most of world, was introduced with MySpace. They could
reconnect with people they had lost touch with over the years and really share their day to day lives
with each other. Social media was the beginning of a new era. As social media grew and continues
to grow today the world is reaping the benefits. With many websites and smart phone apps, it is an
important communication tool used all over the world. However beneficial, social media is
extremely flawed. The world is seeing a loss in productivity and vital communication skills needed
for day to day life. People all over the world are less productive since social media hit the big time.

This has happened to me one too many times at home. Instead of taking care of the pool or the lawn
I was too busy telling people that I was going to do it. Most people, including myself, will say they
are going to do something, wait for a bit of recognition and that gratification is enough to make
them feel as good as if they had done the activity. They end up feeling great about their hard work
but in reality none of the work has been done. Social media is used for just about everything so it is
no surprise it is seen in the work place. Many businesses use social media to promote their work and
bring in revenue. But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the
envelope and see what they can get away with. I once worked in a factory, in an area by myself and
I knew I could have my cell phone out. With that came the temptation to socialize, via social
networking. It was so bad at one point that I spent over an hour using social media without realizing.
This type of behavior led to questions as to why my work was not done in a timely manner.
Companies are losing money and valuable time because of the craze that is social media. Education
is also suffering because of social media. Students everywhere, especially the younger generations,
are extremely involved with social networking. When I was in high school I was involved in about

Impact of Children on Committed Relationships
Impact of Children on Committed Relationships
Christina Smith
Everest University Online
Most of the time, children have a great impact on a relationship. Before children, couples usually
tend to spend a lot of time together and have more energy and money (Wood, 2010). Once children
turn the relationship into a family, couples have less time together along with less energy and money
(Wood, 2010). Our communications go from long and stimulating conversations about anything and
everything to mostly about the children. We all know that becoming a parent is hard, but until we
do, we never realize exactly how hard it really is (Wood, 2010). I interviewed five parents, two of
them being a married couple, on how becoming parents impacted ... Show more content on

Brad and Morgan also felt that most communication went from being about them to being about the
baby. Morgan told me, "I think our communication changed because most of our conversations are
about finances and about our son. And we don't seem to be as laid back about situations as we were
before we had our son. We are definitely very quick to jump the gun and go off our rocker because
of so much concern for our son. It is amazing how someone you love so much can make you stress
over them so bad! (personal communication, January 9, 2012)." As Wood (2010) discussed, most of
the communications became centered on the children. It seems that for the most part, the level of
communication didn't change, but the subject did. My third question to these parents was, "How did
having a child affect your marriage or relationship?" Michelle and Season seemed to have almost
the same view. Michelle related, "Our marriage was based on a pregnancy to begin with, so after the
babies were born, it was quickly noticed that they were not the fix–it to our multitude of problems.
They were blessings to us both, but could not repair something that was bad from the beginning
(personal communication, January 10, 2012)," and Season said, "Having a child changed our
relationship. He seemed to become jealous of the baby for a while. He still got to do whatever he
wanted and I got stuck at home taking care of the baby. Our relationship got real rocky for a while,

Marketing Pl River Island And Dorothy Perkins
As part of my secondary research, I have analysed four dresses which are either from my client
'Topshop 'or direct competitors such as River Island and Dorothy Perkins. This research will enable
me to gain knowledge on what my TMG looks for when buying special occasion dresses and what
other companies do to make their products stand out and be successful in such a big market. I will
take this knowledge into consideration when I design my dress and it will help me to incorporate
features which other companies use to sell their products.
RIVER ISLAND: PINK EMBELLISHED MAXI DRESS
I have decided to look at this dress from River Island as the store is a direct competitor to Topshop.
The shop is popular amongst 14–25 year old females but their prices are a bit higher than what my
client offers. This is shown throughout the company and in their products. River Island sells a
variety of special occasion dresses so the store is one of the first places that my TMG would look at;
by looking at specific aspects of their garments, I will be able to understand what features make it a
successful company and how they make their clothing commercially viable. This dress costs £75
which is reasonable for the high quality of the product. Most special occasion dresses are with in the
£50–£100 price bracket. The price ensures that the garment is suitable for its TMG and it reflects the

1.1 Identify the different reasons people communicate.
There are 5 main reasons why we communicate these are:
1. To change behaviour
2. To get action

5. To get and give information
All these could be to share experiences, to make choices, to express wishes and choices...

individual.
You could ask the individual themselves this is the most effective way and it encourages the
individual to take control. The disadvantages could be that the individual may lack in confidence or
they may have communication difficulties. You could read the care plans which can give you
information if the individual can't communicate their needs the disadvantages are that the care plan
may be out of date and need reviewing, it might not be accurate or may have been written with out
much involvement from the individual. You could also talk to the family and friends they may have
good information about the individuals the disadvantages are that they may communicate their own
wishes and not know the wishes of the individual.

communication is one by asking questions you can asked closed or open questions or just talking to

Essay Media Fast
Media Fast Writing Assignment
Last Tuesday, I attempted to unplug myself from the world of media and see how it affected my
everyday life. After trying to disconnect myself from everything that involves media, I realized how
much I rely on it to get me through each day. I was never this aware of its presence in today's society
until disconnecting myself. Without media to rely on, I found myself having to readjust my whole
normal routine just to get through the day.
At the start of the day I found myself stressed, unorganized and uneasy. I use my cell phone as an
alarm and by turning it off the night before I found myself waking up every few hours for fear of

Without the use of my phone I was unable to receive team emails and texts from my captains and

friend/teammate, Emily to tell me updates and important information. At one point I could tell she
was getting annoyed with me, having to update me regularly. She even told me she subconsciously
sent me a text message because she was used to the constant communication throughout the day.
Disconnecting myself completely from media provided me with a new opinion and outlook on its
powerful role in my own life and in the world.
Firstly, I noticed how much media speeds up our everyday lives. Essentially everyone is
multitasking; it is a way of life in our society. I noticed multitasking at its finest when I went to the
library later that day. People are researching online, writing papers, Facebook stalking, instant
messaging and listening to their iPods all instantaneously. The instant access to everything has
formed our culture. I find myself running on autopilot when it comes to using media. It took the full
24 hour fast for me to realize how dependent I really am on media to make it though the day. The
stress I was feeling without the security of my phone or ability to communicate whenever I wanted
to left me feeling helpless. Media not only speeds up daily activities, but it has given

It is important to quickly identify where a child could be having difficulties in building relationships
with adults or fellow pupils. There may be a number of underlying issues affecting the child's
relationship building abilities and it is therefore necessary to isolate and try to resolve these issues.
For example, a child that has suffered bullying may not be as open to relationships as other children.
They may not easily trust others and may therefore need more Teaching Assistant time and
reassurance to build the relationship.
Children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, or autism, may need more support in building
relationships both with adults and with other children. They are likely to be less confident in their
own abilities and are more likely to be introverts. On the other hand, children with certain medical
conditions may be extroverted and need additional help to build the right sort of communication and
relationship skills with others.
Child groups should be encouraged to be inclusive with children who may struggle to form and
maintain normal relationships. The Teaching Assistant can play an important role in encouraging
this behaviour.

help to further develop each child and young person's skills. For example within my setting I was
working with the nurture group and they received ten spellings every week. Most of the children
within the nurture group had SLCN. The children with SLCN always struggled with their spellings,
so therefore I provided my support to whoever wanted it. All the spellings they received every week
had the same sound in common, e.g. heat, meat, cheat, great. All of these words have 'eat' in
common. Within my support I explain to the children that the words may sound differently but the
spellings they always received had sounds in common so therefore pointing this out they was able to
think of the starting of the word and knew each work has the same sound in and was then able to
achieve more marks out of ten on their spellings. This helped to boost their confidence and self–
esteem because they knew they could do it.

capacity to guide how we think about situations that we face in our company, how we talk about
those situations, and what we deem to be appropriate courses of action (Akin, Dunford, & Palmer,

The apparent option of EA Inc. not using a model is not a real option; the choice is whether EA Inc.
should use one that is explicit or one that is implicit.
While implicit models may provide valuable insights based on accumulated experience, they do
have limitations. First, they are likely to be based on the limited experience of one or a few
employees at EA Inc.; thus, their generalizing ability may be uncertain. Second, because they are
implicit, it is difficult for other employees to be aware of the framework/assumptions within which

Modern British society is constantly changing, over the years many waves of new immigrants have
brought with them new cultural influences. Language and cultural differences can pose a problem so
it is important to be aware of these differences and use good communication skills when dealing
with EASL families. Be aware that adults who do not speak English as a first language could feel
vulnerable and uncomfortable with the lack of understanding and it could lead to a lot of
miscommunication. They may feel less confident in approaching people and may often rely on
others for information and could feel excluded.
Being aware of social and cultural differences can help identify potential issues.

Essay on Suggestions for Effectively Talking at Your Tenants
The National Institute of Justice issued a report in 1996 detailing the intricate and complicated
connections between the physical environment and crime. One of the interesting concepts in the
study was directly related to tenant perceptions and outcomes. The authors called this concept
"resident–generated territorial features". In essence, this is how residents outwardly communicated
their ownership and value of the neighborhood.
Which leads a conversation about other types of communication –– written and verbal.

inappropriate discourse. Post netiquette rules and enforce them. Encourage open discuss and use the
forum as another form of communication to inform and educate tenants about important property
features, restrictions and amenities. Never ignore a disgruntled tenant –– make the effort to have an
in–person or telephone conversation to resolve issues before they escalate beyond repair.
On the phone and in–person conversations
For sensitive matters, face–to–face conversations are typically best. Be sure to allow the other
person to express their thoughts –– even if you disagree with their point of view. Repeat statements
to express your understanding of their point of view. Maintain an open ear; then calmly state your
position.
Speaking in concise language is not the same as being blunt and rude. Concise means that you
express yourself clearly and briefly. You can disagree –– even issue an edict –– with a respectful
tone and attitude. Approach discussions with authority and not an authoritarian style.

they are commonly referred to as organizational foundations.
Indeed, practice has proved that those values provide the basis for decisionmaking at all levels of the

customers as well as to other stakeholders will be looked at. It should be noted that managerial
communication of organizational values can facilitate a more powerful communication and
implementation of organizational values within an organization.
2. DEFINITION OF ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES
Over two thousand years ago, in 431 B.C., "Pericles in Ancient Greece eloquently urged the
Athenians, who were at war with the Spartans, to adhere to values such as those inherent in
democracy: informality in communication, the importance of individual dignity, and promotion
based on performance.
Pericles realized that the underlying values might mean victory or defeat"
(Weihrich and Koontz, 1998; 333). Nevertheless, it was not until the 1970s that a systematic
investigation of organizational values started within the psychological approach represented by
Milton Rokeach, who defined a value as
"an enduring belief that a specific mode of conduct or end–state of existence is personally and
socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end–state of existence" (Rokeach,
1973; 5). He also developed the first classification of values that was based on goals and means of
their achievement, wherein he distinguished terminal from instrumental values (Rokeach, 1973; 7),
defining them in the following way:
terminal values refer to desirable

Communications, The Mechanistic Perspective
'Communication –– – the process of transmitting and receiving ideas, information, and messages.
The rapid transmission of information over long distances and ready access to information have
become conspicuous and important features of human society, especially in the past 150 years.'
The encyclopedia definition of communication encompasses the ideas of exchanging a variety of
messages with others. This is important to remember when looking at communications within an
organization.
The whole process of communications within organizations is very complex and is certainly one of
the major factors in determining whether an organization will succeed or not. The following paper

Non–verbal cues are 'those expressions of emotions and attitudes toward another person and in
regulating the interaction between people.' The text organizes the cues into seven categories and
includes good examples, including: environment, proximity, posture, gestures, facial expressions,
eye behavior and vocalics.
One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was included
in chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate 'dressing for success.'
Some examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at flea
markets, dressing 'down' is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should
dress to show that he is successful, but not ostentatious.
In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether 'suit and tie' or 'casual' are the choice
for the client's organization. This non–verbal cue can aid in preparing the initial psychological base
for the remainder of the conversation and ensure that it does not detract from the conversation while
it is ongoing.

Criminal Communication and Its Effect
This is an excerpt from an investigation I wrote for Comuniclab, the web magazine of the University
of Rome "La Sapienza". The work has been featured in several magazines.
Criminal communication
Naples criminal cartels communication strategies "We talk through our guns". I was 8 when, passing
by the headquarters of a mafia clan to reach my school, I heard this sentence. (...) It seems to be a
clear and demonstrated truth: for instance, the war between local gangs Ascione – Papale and Birra
– Iacomino killed 18 mobsters and wounded several people, between 2007 and 2008. The latter is
one of the most recent mafia wars, and many examples are from that experience.
Wars and murders make many people think that weapons are the best means of communication for
mafia groups, but that is incorrect. Actually, these organizations' power is widely based on the
ability to communicate to people, in various forms, their dominion over the territory, the capability
to dispense life and death, success and failure, favors and punishments. "It is usually hard to find
solid evidence about the power of communication", Mario Morcellini, Professor and Director of the
Department of Communication and Social Research at the University of Rome "Sapienza", says.
"On the contrary, when we see how criminal cartels use communication, this power appears to be
crystal clear. They are enterprises, built on a communicative and symbolic dimension, and
communication is the most valuable commodity they sell".

Taking a Look at Conflict Resolution
To manage these conflict styles; avoidance, accommodation, aggression, and collaboration
management styles are used. Roommates use these styles when dealing with conflict. The style they
choose relates to how they will use text messaging in conflict and how they would like their face to
be perceived by the individual involved in the conflict. When a roommate chooses avoidance they
are pretending the conflict does not exist and will avoid any form of communication for fear of their
face being perceived negatively. We see an explanation of this from Erving Goffman where he
proposed an idea of facework as a social performance where we are all actors. He offered a
cooperative principle where people agree to support each other's performance or face. To not support
each other's face is to disrupt the entire scene, because no one can continue in performance when
others are embarrassed or shamed (Cupach & Metts, 1994). Based on the conflict modes of Thomas
and Kilmann, there are five styles of conflict management: avoiding, accommodating, collaborating,
competing and compromising. Accommodation happens when a person attempts to satisfy the other
person's concerns at the expense of their own, Avoiding is where a person sidesteps the conflict
without trying to satisfy either person's concern, Compromising is when the person partially satisfies
both people's concerns, Collaborating is when a person tries to find a win–win solution that satisfies
both people's concerns, and Competing

Factors Affecting Customer Loyalty
Introduction and Problem Definition
The growth for mobile service has been gradually developing from a total number of subscribers of
1.513 million at the end of 1996 to 7.477 million in 2001. (Malaysian Communication and
Multimedia Commission, MCMC) The market for the telecommunication industry in Malaysia is
highly competitive. This industry is currently dominated by 3 operators Telekom, Maxis and DiGi.
For example, as Maxis Communications Berhad ("Maxis") being one of the most favorable choice
for users, Maxis believes that the main competitive factors in the mobile services market are
network coverage, service quality, pricing and brand. Therefore, these could be the main factors that
determine the level of customer loyalty towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Review of the literature shows relevant constructs, methodologies, and findings related to the study.
Meanwhile, the proposed conceptual framework and hypotheses development shows the
relationship of the variables constructed in this study.
Customer Loyalty
Three conceptual perspectives have been suggested to define customer loyalty: the behavioral
perspective, the attitudinal perspective, and composite perspective (Bowen and Chen, 2001; Zins,
2001). Firstly, the behavioral perspective looks at repeat purchase behavior based on the customer's
purchase history. This approach assumes that preference structure of the customer is reflected in the
customer's behavior (Ehrenberg, 1988). In contrast, the attitudinal perspective allows gain in
supplemental understanding of loyal behavior (Zins, 2001). Attitude signifies the degree to which a
customer's deposition towards a service is favorably inclined. (Grembler and Brown, 1996). Some
examples of operational measures in attitudinal perspective are preference, buying intention,
supplier prioritization and recommendation willingness (Fournier and Yao, 1997). The third
perspective combines both attitudinal and behavioral definitions of loyalty. The composite
perspective is considered an alternative to affective loyalty that increases the predictive power of
loyalty (Pritchard and Howard, 1997).
Essentially, loyal customers build businesses by

My Experience at Flagler College
As I reflect on my professional growth, I have also come a long way. When I consider where I was
at professionally, to where I am at now, my mind goes back to one event specifically; my mock
parent teacher conference. This was an assignment given to me in my 2nd semester of coursework at
Flagler College. For this assignment, we were expected to explain FCAT scores to the "parents"
(professors and other faculty posing as parents) of the student we were given background
information on previously. I was nervous after merely hearing about this assignment because I have
always struggled with speaking out loud when I am feeling anxious. During that interview, it did not
go at all how I planned; I was hysterical. Let it be known, I am not referring to solely hysterically
nervous, but to my embarrassment looking back, hysterically nervous on top of hysterically crying.
However, although it is a bit embarrassing, I am very thankful I had that experience because after I
walked out of that interview, I knew my weak area. I knew I needed to work on in the improvement
of my communication skills and from that point on, that's just what I did. In my most recent
practicum experience at Chiles High School, there were two separate occasions where I interacted
with the parents of students. On one of those occasions, I was asked to explain an assignment and
share student results with the parent. That day, after my advising teacher told me, "I couldn't have
said it better myself", I left the

Role of Communication in Business
Understanding the communication process in managerial position is very important. It guides the
communicator in conveying the right message to the right recipient. The mode of communication
determines the content of information channelled, and where the managers feel that the information
is urgent; they will opt for the right means of communicating. According to the case study in
consideration, effective communication leads to positive outcomes from the employees work. It
boosts the loyalty displayed by workers towards their work positions and enhances transparency and
freedom of expression. Communication process ensures information conveyed is complete and
eradicates loss of meaning and misinterpretation from the information source to ... Show more

In most management, employee motivation and empowerment is vital to growth of an organisation.
In the case study, the company has invested in High Performance Work System (HPWS) that
recognises the role of human capital and its value in the operations of the company, thus they
deserve appropriate incentives. The senior management protects employees from stress and anxiety
through provision of takeover information. This has resulted to flexibility among workers and
efficiency that add value by feedback within the organisation. According to the interview results in
the case study, the company was conducting regular surveys to evaluate employee satisfaction with
salaries. It is evident that employees are motivated through bonuses and a standard pay. Good
incentives address employees' needs in a satisfactory manner. The firm therefore spends a good
amount of money putting into employees' welfare in order to boost their performance and reward
their efforts. Another financial area of control is within self–managed teams where members work in
independent teams. Here, they devote their time and produce quality work and therefore less need
for supervisors to monitor and control their performance. Incentives maximize employees' feelings
for empowerment and the urge for clean and productive work. The motivation bonus sparks
creativity among workers and increases performance in a HPWS environment. The Australian

Facebook, in particular, is the target of this article, with its enormous audience, Facebook is the go– to website to see the latest gossip, get in touch with everyone, and be in touch with everyone. So a lot of people give up face–to –face to talk with each other instead using the Facebook or any other technology. The research put into the lonely topic consists of psychologist's opinions and real events. For example, the books Sherry Turkle wrote like "Life on the screen" and "Alone together" can see how serious the impact is. Another effect is loneliness is not a matter of external conditions but rather more of a psychological state, which can cause neuroticism, or anxiety with due time. For example, John Cacioppo, the director of the center for cognitive and social neuroscience at the University of Chicago, says the epidemic of loneliness is affecting the basic functions of human physiology. And in one experiment, Cacioppo confirmed "The greater the proportion of online interactions, the lonelier you are." What's more, in the article, the author shows us many other researchers and examples from the professional study prove his topic "Is Facebook making us lonely." For example, Moira Burke concludes that the effect of Facebook depends on what people bring to it. And her research does not support the assertion that Facebook creates loneliness. So in ... • 5. The Educational Value of Exhibitions in Musuems Definition of exhibition Before proceeding to the discussion of relationship between exhibition, communication and education, the meaning of the term should be clarified first. The term exhibition implies several meanings owing to a movement within different context and style of each professional realm. As the definition shows in oxford dictionary, the word exhibition can be defined as 'a public display of works of art or items of interest, held in an art gallery or museum or at a trade fair', and it is also refer to synonyms 'display', 'show'. Similarly, here we can further defined the display as a method of communication and scenario that convey diverse content to the audience in certain period or a specific space with the purpose of information transmitting, promotion, education and enlightenment (Huang and Wu:1998, p.8). Although there is subtle difference of definition and the representative word of exhibition, it is noteworthy that we can hardly investigate the display apart from media, message, and audience. Exhibition, communication, and knowledge shaping. When it comes to the exhibition in museums, there is increasing discussion of museum as dialogue environment and its learning impacts on audience. Modern museums have gradually transferred their emphasis from collection, conservation and research to display and education. Besides the traditional functions of museum, 吉村典夫( 1979: 104–107) maintains that organisation is encouraged to develop responsibilities– ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Choose a bright colour to capture the summer and pair with even brighter jewellery to take it to the next level. Stretch Cotton Dress It's a comfortable fit and comes in plenty of beautiful floral prints, and like the Jacquard Dress it's an excellent option for a plethora of occasions. The Backless Maxi Yes, there is more than one type of maxi dress and opting for a backless number with a front slit is the optimum way to capture a flirty style that is sure to turn heads (without distracting from the bride too much). • 17. Essay and referencing Introduction The three communication theories I have applied to provide the most insight into understanding the dynamics of the observed conversation between two people are; the transmission model (Shannon & Weaver 1949), Foulger 's ecological model (Foulger 2004), and an expanded model of communication (Eunson 2012). In this essay I have used a conversation I had listened to which was between my friend (from here on will be named George) and his friend (from here on will be named Mark). Problems that arose during the conversation will be explained as well as how George and Mark overcame them. From there the essay will compare and contrast the three communication theories and decide which of these best simplify the conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 2: An Ecological Model of the Communication (Source: Foulger 2004) Eunson 's expanded model of communication is more complex than Foulger 's as well as Shannon and Weaver 's models, though it is more appropriate to this conversation had between George and Mark due to the fact it shows that in order for the communication to happen the sender must pre– edit and then encode the message pass the message onto the receiver where he decodes and edits the message. Eunson also takes into account the use of mechanical, behavioural and semantic factors of encoding, and understands that if the message is to be understood the receiver must be able to decode the message. This is particularly relevant, and highly important to this conversation between George and Mark due to the factors mentioned before. Context Figure 3: An expanded model of communication (Source: Eunson 2012) Conclusion I have found Shannon and Weavers transactional model too simple and cannot evaluate the complexities of this situation, and that Foulger 's model too broad and not able to focus on the problems that need to be addressed. Therefore, I believe that Eunson 's expanded model of communication is the most adequate to use out of the three models that were written about because Eunson 's model has shown how a message from George is first pre–edited ... The Revolution : Effects Of Ephemeral Messaging Snapchat Revolution: Effects of Ephemeral Messaging Debuted in September of 2011, Snapchat is a multi–messaging application for mobile devices developed by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy (Hempel & Lashinsky, 2014). The phenomenon of 'self–destructing messages' has significant implications for personal communication. Snapchat, an evolutionary innovation, revisits ephemeral dialogue amid the contemporary ubiquity of digital permanence–where increasingly, communication assets are virtually stored and endlessly retrievable. The history of the vaporizing message, at first unintentional and later revised as an innovation in personal digital communication, is essentially shaped by changing ideas of privacy, permanence and propriety. How this medium constricts or encourages communication is particularly relevant as notions of scarcity and feedback are remixed on an uninitiated generation. By asking these questions, we hope to better understand the role of Snapchat and ephemeral messaging in an environment of digital permanence. Ancient Human Conversations Human communication has been transformed by the various technologies that have enabled and enriched it through time. At its most basic and frequent, people speak to each other aloud. As Ong (1982) wrote: "Sound exists only when it is going out of existence. It is not simply perishable, but essentially evanescent" (as cited in Crowley & Heyer, 2011, p. 49). In a contemporary world where literacy itself can mean facility with the ... • 23. Online Writing vs Formal English We have come full circle in forms of communication. From "cave man" grunts, body and hand gestures, and pictographic wall paintings, to "cubicle man" lols (laugh–out–loud), ttyls (talk–to– you–later), and smiley face emoticons, we are regressing to an earlier form of interactions. The expressive and communicative richness of writing is slowly becoming the archeological relics of an electronic modern society. I am no stranger to this failing. I started high school with a loose grasp of the tools of writing; I left high school with a, slightly, better grasp of those tools. Now, as my high school years fall farther behind me, and the academic language of writing erodes, the loose grasp of writing skills I had is becoming far looser. My writing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Texting for me is an all–day experience. I communicate when or where I will be, or check up on what people are doing. I use digital shorthand here more than anywhere. Most words are not spelled out in full, "cumn ovr nw" (Coming over now.), and "wht r u doin" (What are you doing?). Even the accepted cyber vernacular is ignored in favor of my own gibberish. Mostly I write to a specific audience not an unknown reader, and take liberties with my words. My major failing when I try to assimilate my techno–text with a scholastic essay is, I am not used to communicating in a formal manner to a potentially critical and voluntary reader. With the ambiguous, sometimes incoherent cyber darts of communiqué; my message is set adrift with little care about how it is received. It is more a self–centered tap on someone's electronic shoulder saying, "I'm here", and with no thought whether they want to read what I write. When my complete thoughts are expressed, they are often ambiguous. I write easily discarded words. I cannot use this form for my English class. In the essays required for school, I have to write carefully and in an engaging way. One pitfall I find with essay writing is I sometimes fall into a style that is the complete opposite of my text style. I use large words with a meandering train of thought, and start to show off instead of communicate. When I start to write, either I try to be clever with abstract and off ... As social media grew and continues to grow today the world is reaping the benefits. With many websites and smart phone apps, it is an important communication tool used all over the world. They end up feeling great about their hard work but in reality none of the work has been done. Social media is used for just about everything so it is no surprise it is seen in the work place. Many businesses use social media to promote their work and bring in revenue. But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the envelope and see what they can get away with. I once worked in a factory, in an area by myself and I knew I could have my cell phone out. With that came the temptation to socialize, via social networking. It was so bad at one point that I spent over an hour using social media without realizing. This type of behavior led to questions as to why my work was not done in a timely manner. Companies are losing money and valuable time because of the craze that is social media. Impact of Children on Committed Relationships Impact of Children on Committed Relationships Christina Smith Everest University Online Most of the time, children have a great impact on a relationship. Before children, couples usually tend to spend a lot of time together and have more energy and money (Wood, 2010). Once children turn the relationship into a family, couples have less time together along with less energy and money (Wood, 2010). Our communications go from long and stimulating conversations about anything and everything to mostly about the children. It is amazing how someone you love so much can make you stress over them so bad! (personal communication, January 9, 2012)." As Wood (2010) discussed, most of the communications became centered on the children. It seems that for the most part, the level of communication didn't change, but the subject did. In the following sections, the ways of communicating organizational values to employees and customers as well as to other stakeholders will be looked at. It should be noted that managerial communication of organizational values can facilitate a more powerful communication and implementation of organizational values within an organization. 2. DEFINITION OF ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES Over two thousand years ago, in 431 B.C., "Pericles in Ancient Greece eloquently urged the Athenians, who were at war with the Spartans, to adhere to values such as those inherent in democracy: informality in communication, the importance of individual dignity, and promotion based on performance. Pericles realized that the underlying values might mean victory or defeat" (Weihrich and Koontz, 1998; 333). Nevertheless, it was not until the 1970s that a systematic investigation of organizational values started within the psychological approach represented by Milton Rokeach, who defined a value as "an enduring belief that a specific mode of conduct or end–state of existence is personally and socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end–state of existence" (Rokeach, 1973; 5). He also developed the first classification of values that was based on goals and means of their achievement, wherein he distinguished terminal from instrumental values (Rokeach, 1973; 7),

One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was included in chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate 'dressing for success.' Some examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at flea markets, dressing 'down' is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should dress to show that he is successful, but not ostentatious. In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether 'suit and tie' or 'casual' are the choice for the client's organization. This non–verbal cue can aid in preparing the initial psychological base for the remainder of the conversation and ensure that it does not detract from the conversation while it is ongoing. The work has been featured in several magazines. Criminal communication Naples criminal cartels communication strategies "We talk through our guns". I was 8 when, passing by the headquarters of a mafia clan to reach my school, I heard this sentence. (...) It seems to be a clear and demonstrated truth: for instance, the war between local gangs Ascione – Papale and Birra – Iacomino killed 18 mobsters and wounded several people, between 2007 and 2008. The latter is one of the most recent mafia wars, and many examples are from that experience. Wars and murders make many people think that weapons are the best means of communication for mafia groups, but that is incorrect. Actually, these organizations' power is widely based on the ability to communicate to people, in various forms, their dominion over the territory, the capability to dispense life and death, success and failure, favors and punishments. "It is usually hard to find solid evidence about the power of communication", Mario Morcellini, Professor and Director of the Department of Communication and Social Research at the University of Rome "Sapienza", says. "On the contrary, when we see how criminal cartels use communication, this power appears to be crystal clear. They are enterprises, built on a communicative and symbolic dimension, and communication is the most valuable commodity they sell". ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 81. Taking a Look at Conflict Resolution To manage these conflict styles; avoidance, accommodation, aggression, and collaboration management styles are used. Roommates use these styles when dealing with conflict. The style they choose relates to how they will use text messaging in conflict and how they would like their face to be perceived by the individual involved in the conflict. When a roommate chooses avoidance they are pretending the conflict does not exist and will avoid any form of communication for fear of their face being perceived negatively. We see an explanation of this from Erving Goffman where he proposed an idea of facework as a social performance where we are all actors. He offered a cooperative principle where people agree to support each other's performance or face. To not support each other's face is to disrupt the entire scene, because no one can continue in performance when others are embarrassed or shamed (Cupach & Metts, 1994). Based on the conflict modes of Thomas and Kilmann, there are five styles of conflict management: avoiding, accommodating, collaborating, competing and compromising. Accommodation happens when a person attempts to satisfy the other person's concerns at the expense of their own, Avoiding is where a person sidesteps the conflict without trying to satisfy either person's concern, Compromising is when the person partially satisfies both people's concerns, Collaborating is when a person tries to find a win–win solution that satisfies both people's concerns, and Competing ... Review of the literature shows relevant constructs, methodologies, and findings related to the study. Meanwhile, the proposed conceptual framework and hypotheses development shows the relationship of the variables constructed in this study. Customer Loyalty Three conceptual perspectives have been suggested to define customer loyalty: the behavioral perspective, the attitudinal perspective, and composite perspective (Bowen and Chen, 2001; Zins, 2001). Firstly, the behavioral perspective looks at repeat purchase behavior based on the customer's purchase history. This approach assumes that preference structure of the customer is reflected in the customer's behavior (Ehrenberg, 1988). In contrast, the attitudinal perspective allows gain in supplemental understanding of loyal behavior (Zins, 2001). Attitude signifies the degree to which a customer's deposition towards a service is favorably inclined. (Grembler and Brown, 1996). Some examples of operational measures in attitudinal perspective are preference, buying intention, supplier prioritization and recommendation willingness (Fournier and Yao, 1997). The third perspective combines both attitudinal and behavioral definitions of loyalty. The composite perspective is considered an alternative to affective loyalty that increases the predictive power of loyalty (Pritchard and Howard, 1997). Essentially, loyal customers build businesses by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I consider where I was at professionally, to where I am at now, my mind goes back to one event specifically; my mock parent teacher conference. This was an assignment given to me in my 2nd semester of coursework at Flagler College. For this assignment, we were expected to explain FCAT scores to the "parents" (professors and other faculty posing as parents) of the student we were given background information on previously. I was nervous after merely hearing about this assignment because I have always struggled with speaking out loud when I am feeling anxious. During that interview, it did not go at all how I planned; I was hysterical. Let it be known, I am not referring to solely hysterically nervous, but to my embarrassment looking back, hysterically nervous on top of hysterically crying. However, although it is a bit embarrassing, I am very thankful I had that experience because after I walked out of that interview, I knew my weak area. I knew I needed to work on in the improvement of my communication skills and from that point on, that's just what I did. In my most recent practicum experience at Chiles High School, there were two separate occasions where I interacted with the parents of students. On one of those occasions, I was asked to explain an assignment and share student results with the parent. In the case study, the company has invested in High Performance Work System (HPWS) that recognises the role of human capital and its value in the operations of the company, thus they deserve appropriate incentives. The senior management protects employees from stress and anxiety through provision of takeover information. This has resulted to flexibility among workers and efficiency that add value by feedback within the organisation. According to the interview results in the case study, the company was conducting regular surveys to evaluate employee satisfaction with salaries. It is evident that employees are motivated through bonuses and a standard pay. Good incentives address employees' needs in a satisfactory manner. The firm therefore spends a good amount of money putting into employees' welfare in order to boost their performance and reward their efforts. Another financial area of control is within self–managed teams where members work in independent teams. Here, they devote their time and produce quality work and therefore less need for supervisors to monitor and control their performance. Incentives maximize employees' feelings for empowerment and the urge for clean and productive work.
