Abortion Bans Should Not Include An Exception For Rape
Abortion Essay
According to the article "Are Abortion Rights Threatened, 2013" over fifty million infants, died in
2012 before they even stepped foot into this world, due to abortion. To clarify abortion is the
termination of the fetus in the mother's womb typically by chopping up the baby into pieces with a
knife, cracking its skull and vacuuming out its brains, or with the drug RU–486. As a result, abortion
is one of the most common and cruel cause of death in the United States, yet the government has
legalized this practice. Moreover, there are other measures that can be taken if a women feels she
needs an abortion including adoption and financial aid. Therefore, women should not choose to
abort her baby, because it is immoral and harmful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So many argue that women have had their rights restricted throughout time and it is about time that
women got body rights. Nevertheless, abortion is beyond a women's right to choose, since her
decision will affect the life of another human being. Accordingly, the article "Abortion Bans Should
Not Include an Exception for Rape" by Andrew P. Napolitano claims, "every unborn baby possesses
a fully actualizable human genome: all the material necessary to grow to adulthood and to exist
independently." Hence, a fetus should be considered a human being with natural rights, because it
has the same fundamental characteristics as any other human. Moreover, the United States
Declaration of Independence emphasizes the overall idea that it is the duty of the government to
protect the natural rights of its citizens namely life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Consequently, a fetus should be respected under this document since it is a human, and have its right
to life restored.
On the whole, abortion should be outlawed, due to the fact that it is immoral and detrimental to a
women's health. Abortion is immoral, because it takes away the baby's rights. Moreover, abortion is
dangerous for women since, it can kill them and damage their reproductive system. Thus, it is every
civilized person's duty to stand up against the crime of abortion.

The Morality of Abortions Essay
The Morality of Abortions Abortion's legalization through Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade, has
allowed for one in three pregnancies to end in abortion. This means that 1.5 million abortions are
performed in the United States each year (Flanders 3). It ranks among the most complex and
controversial issues, arousing heated legal, political, and ethical debates. The modern debate over
abortion is a conflict of competing moral ideas and of fundamental human rights: to life, to privacy,
to control over one's own body. Trying to come to a compromise has proven that it one cannot
please all of the people on each side of the debate. Many people describe the abortion debate in
America as bitter and uncompromising, usually represented on both ... Show more content on

Agreeing to a time–based restriction could protect older fetuses and still safeguard the rights of most
of the women seeking abortions, who are usually within 12 weeks of pregnancy. Coming to an
agreement as to when the fetus is truly alive, is the next step to coming to a time–based restriction
agreement. Medical science has advanced the ability of the fetus to survive outside the womb from
about 28 weeks to about 23 to 24 weeks. Since the progression of medical technology is always
changing, suggestions for compromise propose a cutoff date for elective abortions at eight to sixteen
weeks, which is well before viability (Flanders 25). One of the strictest proposals includes
prohibiting abortions after approximately the eighth week when fetal brain waves can be detected.
Some say that this is appropriate because this is the same way that doctors determine the end of a
person's life. Some supporters go so far as to say that there should be a sixteen week allowed time
period, opposed to the eight week. Pro–choice people argue that this restriction would be less
objectionable than the eight–week restriction since ninety percent of all abortions are performed
within the twelfth week of pregnancy (Driefus 101). Millions of pro–choicers and pro–lifers believe
that any such compromise would be impossible. From different ends of the argument, they criticize
any proposal of time limits that would violate the rights of women or violate the rights of fetuses.
They all agree

"Nothing matters." That quote attributed to Ambrose Bierce may be true in some cases. It may be
true to those who do not value the funding of Planned Parenthood. But something does matter. And
that is the funding of the healthcare resource Planned Parenthood. Many do not understand the vital
role Planned Parenthood plays in the lives of up and coming parents. Planned Parenthood has been
operating and serving those in need of care in the United States and overseas for more than 40 years

recently been in the national spotlight due to the number abortions the facilities across the United

Should Abortion Be Legal?
Legal or Illegal?
Which would you prefer? Not many are willing to discuss such a gut wrenching topic, but this needs
to be addressed. It is a very controversial topic with having to do with women rights and activists.
Since there are two sides to every argument, there is one side such as to make abortion legal and the
opposing side to keep abortions illegal. In my opinion making abortion illegal can regulate the
amount of women who do get pregnant. I believe that making abortions legal will let women receive
the right treatment and action that needs to be done. I hope that this would keep girls from receiving
behind the scene care that can put their lives at risk. Abortion is a huge dilemma, not just in Arizona,
but across the whole country.
Even though this subject is hard to talk about, my position on it is very clear. My source states
factual information about how teenagers and abortion are closely related to each other. The primary
reason why abortion should be legal is because there are more than a million girls that get pregnant
that are under the age of 20 every year, 82 percent of those are not planned and 42 percent of those
are aborted. Also that more than 40,000 girls drop out of school each year because of being pregnant
(Clark). This proves why abortion should be made legal, because young adults make mistakes and
these facts show just how many girls get pregnant. These young girls should have to right to say if
they want to keep the baby or not. Because

Should abortion be legal?
To this very day abortion has become a very sensitive issue worldwide. Known as a moral and
ethical issue, abortion is an issue society should come to terms with. Abortion became legal on
January 22, 1973 since women have the right to freedom and the choice to live their life as they
please.
Many years ago abortion was illegal and lots of women died because they tried to terminate their
pregnancy themselves without professional help. In 1973 the Supreme Court passed a law that
allowed women to have a choice of abortion. Abortion is the removal of a developing baby within in
the mother womb by surgical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His definition of human being depends upon the 46 chromosomes first present in the fertilized
ovum, or known as the zygote. I don't understand we kill animals to feed our families isn't that
murder too? If we're going to preserve a life shouldn't we preserve all of them? Because animals are
living things too. According to Randall Terry a leader of the pro–life group operation he argues that
abortion is murder because at conception we are all unique if we are all unique then isn't every
sperm produced during masturbation unique and so isn't that murder? To me this is all contradiction
and anti–abortionists arguments are groundless unsubstantiated.
Abortion is not as bad as people claim it to be instead of seeing abortion as murder society should
consider abortion as a necessary alternative. Abortion can save a woman's life mentally emotionally
and physically. The following reasons apply– first the definition of life the anti–abortionists provide
us with is self– contradictory, second abortions are safer now than in the past, third abortions help
society with the challenges of unwanted pregnancies, and fourth abortions help the women's
emotional life. The anti–abortionist argument can be well refuted because many professionals say
that the biological or life argument

The Pros And Cons Of Abortion
Abortion is the termination of the fetus before it has been born. Abortion is either induced or
spontaneous. An induced abortion is intentional and kills the baby while it is in its mother's uterus.
The baby is killed either by the mother taking medication or by surgically killing it (Abortion the).
This type of abortion normally occurs in the first or second trimester (Abortion Merriam). A
spontaneous abortion is a natural death of the baby before it is born. This type of abortion is also
known as a miscarriage and can happen anywhere between the first and twentieth week of the
pregnancy(Abortion the). There are abortion clinics women can go to to have an induced abortion.
There are different procedures women can have done to abort their baby.
Women have given numerous reasons of why they have had an abortion. Some mothers can't afford
a child or aren't ready for a child. Some don't want their baby because it has health problems.
Guttmacher Institute surveyed one thousand two hundred nine women that had abortions. Twenty–
five percent of women said that they were not ready for a child. Twenty–three percent said that they
couldn't afford a baby. Nineteen percent said that they were done having children. Eight percent said
that they don't want to be a single mother. Seven percent said that they were not mature enough to
raise a child. Four percent said that a baby would interfere with their education or with their career.
Another four percent said they didn't want their baby

Abortion : A Politically Popular Debate
"And Jesus said, 'You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall
not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.'"(Matthew 19:18–19). Abortion is a highly popular debate with many different viewpoints.
Abortion should be restricted to prior to six weeks of pregnancy due to the fact that it is murder, it
causes pain to the woman and the fetus, it is morally unethical, and it goes against the baby 's right
to life. If the penalty for a first degree murder in the state of Florida is a sentence to life in prison
without parole, how is it okay to murder a fetus? (Florida First Degree Murder Laws) Abortion has

If the embryo has not begun to develop as a fetus, it is not yet living or considered human which
means that the abortion cannot be considered murder. The Fifth Amendment states, "No person shall
be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be
taken for public use, without just compensation." This supports the fact that each
Jokinen human being created has the right to live. Given these facts, it clearly says no person shall
be deprived of life. In conclusion, it should not matter if the human is not born yet, but as long as the
human has a heartbeat, it should be an automatic right to live and if not, then they are being
deprived of life. As well as abortion being murder, if the abortion is done after six weeks of
pregnancy, it can cause pain to the mother and baby. Under some circumstances, people chose to
abort their embryo post six weeks once the embryo has developed a heart beat. After six weeks,
"The embryo's neural tube closes and it curves and bulges into three sections, commonly known as
the forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. At the same time, special neural cells form and migrate
throughout the embryo to form the very beginnings of nerves. Your baby's nervous system is made
up of millions upon millions of neurons; each of these microscopic cells have itty–bitty branches

When does the life begin? And who has the right to life? Should abortion be legal and accessible for
all women? What are the particular differences regarding abortion in various contexts? Hello I am
Denita Singh, a fourth–year student in conflict studies and human rights, and in this episode I am
going to look at the question of Abortion in the specific case of El Salvador.

Today I will be discussing about abortion in El Salvador
When discussing the idea of abortion, there are usually debates around Pro–choice or Pro–life.
However, in El Salvador there is an abortion ban law, which means that women have no choice as to
having an abortion or not.
El Salvador is 1 of 7 countries in Latin America where abortion is completely ... Show more content

The purpose of the abortion ban is to stop people from having abortions, however, there is an
increase of mortality rate because the mothers' high mortality rate while giving birth to their babies ,
which in essence means that two people are dying in some situations rather than a fetus or 1 person.
El Salvador has a higher abortion rate than the United States, wherein abortion is legal.
Clearly, it's not even to say that abortions are stopped, women still have abortions, they just try to do
it secretly to avoid being penalized for it, which leads us to say then how effective is the law. In
other words the abortion laws are in fact just harming more than reducing the number of abortions.
In countries like El Salvador women would use RU–486, which is also known as Mifeprex to have
an abortion.
This drug effectively terminates 90% of early pregnancies.
RU 486 is only safe and effective for terminating a pregnancy if taken by woman during the first 7
weeks of pregnancy.
Other drugs such as Cytotec is used to help with stomach ulcers, though it can be used to abort a
fetus and is popular in the black–market.
Although, Cytotec is used to abort the fetus, it is only successful in 85% of cases, in the other 15%
of cases, the pregnancy has continued or complications have occurred. The reason is because
Cytotec does not have the ingredient that stops the development of the fetus like RU–486.
Also with the black–market products, you never

Adoption is an option that is healthier and more rewarding than abortion could ever be. Allowing a
child to be put up for adoption gives them the chance of having a life that they could not have had
with their birth parents. "One study showed that parents who adopt invest more time in their
children than other parents to compensate for the lack of biological ties and the extra challenges of
adoption." (facts.randomhistory.com) There are many programs to help women through pregnancy
and the stages of early child–hood. "There is no greater indicator of life–long poverty than to be a
single, teenage mother. Our Assisting Young Mothers Program helps to break that cycle by
providing housing, counseling and training to homeless young women, age 16 to 24, who are
pregnant or have young children. With an emphasis on parenting, education, job readiness and self–
sufficiency, our AYM graduates are able to support themselves and their children when they leave
the program." (Dittman) This is a program that was created to allow teenage mothers to keep their
children. It also offers an opportunity to gain the support that most teen mothers need but do not

Emergency Birth Control Pills Cause Abortion Research Paper
"Birth Control Pills Cause Abortion
Emergency birth control pills do not effect a pre–existing pregnancy. The emergency birth control
pill is also not capable of abortion, since abortion is to terminate a fetus or embryo, and the pill
prevents a pregnancy from occurring. Most medical professionals agree that conception begins
when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterus wall. Emergency birth control pills prevent
fertilization, but do not end a pregnancy.
Emergency Birth Control Pills do not affect an embryo or fetus, and do not end a pregnancy or cause

Abortion
In 1973, the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion. Abortion is the termination of a fetus
during human pregnancies, which is mainly done during the first twenty–eight weeks of pregnancy.
For decades, abortion has been a very controversial topic to the world. Pro–life supporters believe
that abortion is form of murder, yet pro–choice supporters believe that women should be able to
choose what they want to do with their bodies. Therefore, the conflict on whether abortion is right
has become a very controversial topic in society. The process of abortion can be done in various
ways. The most common way of getting an abortion is by the RU–486 method. The RU–486
method, is a drug/pill that is taken for two months, that eventually poisons the baby. This pill blocks
the progesterone. Another way of getting an abortion is by the Dilation and Evacuation method. The
Dilation and Evacuation method is done by dilating the cervix, and then inserting an instrument to
tear up the baby. In addition, the Prostaglandin Abortion is another way of getting an abortion. The
Prostaglandin Abortion method is done by injecting a feticide into the unborn baby's heart. Some
abortion methods, like the RU–486 method, can terminate a baby a week later, yet some other
methods terminate the baby during the process. Since abortion was legalized in 1973, roughly
1,500,000 fetuses have been aborted each year.

Why Is Abortion Right Or Wrong
Madison Moreno Professor Rollins ENG 112–01 September 2, 2015 Is Abortion Wrong or Right?
Abortion is defined as "The removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end the
pregnancy" (dictionary.com). However, if only the debate over the abortion issue was as easy as the
definition listed above. However, similar to most things in life, a statement or opinion is never right
nor wrong, but simply left open for clarification. Those who are against abortion believe that
abortion is the murder of innocent human beings who aren't given a chance at life and the ability to
function as a normal individual. However, those who are for abortion believe that it is a women's
right to choose what she does to not only her baby but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Partial–birth abortions in the third trimester, and the recent "day–after" or the RU–486 pill, now add
a new attitude on the abortion issue. Partial–birth abortions and abortions in the third trimester are
exceedingly controversial, because they involve the termination and/or expulsion of an actual fetus
from the womb, whereas many early–prenatal abortions involve the expulsion of the embryo. In
some countries, and for a while in America, partial–birth abortions meant that the baby was
breached halfway through the womb, and then its neck was broken, which killed the baby instantly.
Since then, the United States has banned it as a result of the many infuriated pro–life and even some
pro–choice members who found it to be extremely inhumane. The RU–486 pill sends messages
telling the brain that the woman that was inseminated, was already pregnant, and that the ovum that
had been created, is removed because the body believes it is already impregnated. These operations
raise many of the same problems as abortion itself. However one may feel about abortion can be
based off of many different reasons. One may feel that they are pro–life because they could never
see themselves killing an innocent human being without giving it a chance to live their life as an
individual while a pro–choice person may believe that aborting their child is alright because they got

A Quick History Of Abortion Pills
A quick history of abortion pills and how they came to be comes from WebMD. The top drug used
for abortions is mifepristone also known as RU–486. Testing of the drug began in 1983 when the
FDA issued a permit. Jan. 1993 President Clinton asked for the FDA to reconsider their import ban.
In 1994–1995 the Population Council the U.S. patent rights for mifepristone, and clinical trials
began. In September 1996 the FDA issued an approval for RU–486 to be used as a safe alternative
to surgical abortion, but they also said, they wanted more information on how the drug was
manufactured and labeled before they could make their final decision. On September 28, 2000 the
FDA approved RU–486 as a method for early medical abortion.
Mifepristone can be used till the eighth week of pregnancy. The woman is required to go to at least
three doctor office appointments during the treatment. The drug is taken by mouth usually once
unless directed differently by the woman's doctor. The woman has to take misoprostol within forty–
eight hours of taking the mifepristone (RU–486).
Some side effects of these drugs are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and/or dizziness. If the
side effects continue after the first 24 hours, medical attention is required because there can be
serious medical problems. Bleeding and severe cramps are expected during the process. Bleeding
and spotting may last for more than the next 30 days. Sometimes, the bleeding has needed to be
stopped by surgery. Other serious side

Introduction Abortion is a big social issue. Either being a Pro–Life or a Pro–Choice. Choosing a life
or aborting the life of a baby. When the baby is inside the womb, the mother or family has the
choice to either keep the baby or have an abortion. People need to know what all happens in an

I am not the one that says that handicapped children should be aborted. No. I am the one that says it
is wrong on all terms. The crazy thing is that there is at least 210,000,000 pregnancies a year, and
75,000,000 are abortions. Out of those abortions 21,600,000 of them are unsafe. Out of those unsafe
abortions there have been about 8,500,000 mothers needed to have medical attention because they
were either depressed, or very injured. 47,000 mothers have died in those abortions. To me that is
just very depressing and sad. They say the babies can't feel anything. That's where they are very
wrong. An unborn baby is able to feel pain at the earliest of 8 weeks, at 20 weeks the baby can feel
more pain than the average human. "Some abortions can be because of rape", no 99% of abortions
have nothing to do with rape. The sad thing is that if you work out the numbers theres about 1.3
million abortions a year. 1.3 million divided by 365 days, comes out to 3,500 a day. 3,500 a day
divided by 24 hours, comes out to 145 an hour. 145 divided by 1 hour(60 min), that sadly comes out
to 2 per min. Coming from a Catholic background and growing up always knowing that abortion is a

The FDA will require that each women who is considering mifepristone be given a medical
brochure detailing what the drug does, who should not take it and what kind of side effects occur.
Treatment involves three doctor visits. At the first the women swallows three tablets. The drug then
interrupts pregnancy by blocking the action of a natural hormone that prepares the lining of the
uterus for a fertilized egg and then maintains the pregnancy. At the second visit the women swallows
two tablets of an oral prostaglandin, which induces uterine contraction to expel the fertilized egg.
After two weeks the women return for a follow–up visit to confirm that the abortion is complete. " I
think it will be a great benefit to women", said Dr. Stanley Henshew, a senior fellow at Guttmacher
Institute. Nearly nine out of ten women who live outside of a major metropolitan area have no close
access to abortion services, and the availability of mifepristone will change that, he said. "Some
people assume that women will now be more promiscuous and not practice safe sex as much
because of the availability of RU–486, but researchers has found that not be the case," said Dr.
Yvonne, a gynecologist at St. Luke's Hospital in New York. " When women have an unplanned

disadvantages too. Macomb along with Oakland and Wayne health departments, have kept the

Two Broad Categories Of Abortion
There are two broad categories of abortions: spontaneous abortions and induced abortions. A
spontaneous abortion is any pregnancy where the fetus does not have the ability to survive or is born
before the 20th week of pregnancy. Spontaneous abortion usually takes place before the 13th week
of pregnancy and takes place in at least 15–20% of all known pregnancies. In a spontaneous
abortion, the death of the fetus is accidental. In an induced abortion it is intentionally killed. This is
also called an artificial or therapeutic abortion.
For every 1,000 women aged 15 to 44 years old, 14.6 babies were aborted during 2010. The ratio of
abortions to births was 228 to 1,000. In 2010, 14.6% of all abortions were obtained by girls 15–19
years old. They also had an abortion rate of 11.7 abortions per 1,000.Of all the women who had
abortions 85.3% were unmarried. For married women the ratio of abortions to births was 52 to

Brittanica's Arguments Against Abortion
The definition of abortion is the discontinuation cycle of the pregnant female. It also consists of the
removal of a fetus, or an embryo that is ineligible for survival (Brittanica's Editorial Staff 1). The
definition of abortion is not as simple as the debate over the abortion issue. A statement is never
censored in the aspect of human life, but simply left open for awareness. A defenseless baby, who
has not yet had the chance to breathe and function as a human being, is frowned upon by many
unsupported abortion advocates. However, the reflecting opposite is just as responsive. It is a
female's right to appoint what happens to her body, and she should not feel compelled to if she
decides not to bring a child into existence. So many questions can arise by such a serious debate, but
we must look at both views of the issue to better apprehend it. ... Show more content on

People under this category are better known as pro–life advocates. They support a baby's life over
the woman's right to choose (Human Life International, 1981). Pro–life types do not support
abortion and there are considerable reasons why. The murder of an unborn baby by abortion is a
main argument. Abortion puts the mother at risk, and they feel it is a treacherous procedure.
Adoption, for example, provides a substitution to abortion, and pro–life advocates believe that this is
another option. A majority of pro–life advocates think people choose to have sex, and the person
must face the consequences of their actions. "Toying with God" is an expression that has emerged in
recent years, and consider a mother deciding to end her pregnancy as choosing something that God

mined society we have and conscience seared people that we associate with. The decision is yours,
what will it be? Abortion is the act of ending the human life of a fetus inside the womb of a pregnant
woman, usually preformed within the first twenty–eight weeks of a pregnancy, but can be done
throughout the pregnancy up to the last three months before actual birth. Abortions are more times
than not performed in an abortion clinic with a surgical procedure (Stacey 2014). Abortions usually
insure the wellbeing of the mother, although the fetus has to die. There are six different ways to
perform these surgical procedures mentioned for abortion that are legal in the United States today:

Plan B the Emergency Contraceptive Private companies should be required to provide insurance

Should Abortion Be Legal?
When a woman chooses abortion she is killing a human, right? Wrong. There is no issue more
polarized than abortion (Green 1). This issue is one that everybody recognizes and some do not
seem to want to acknowledge. The abortion controversy is usually split between two sides: pro–life
and pro–choice, where pro–life promoters see to that abortion should never be an option no matter
what and pro–choice believers are for the idea of personal freedom and a woman choosing whether
to get an abortion or not. No social issue in America since slavery has ever been as divisive as that
of abortion (Messerli 1). Concerning abortion, a study done by the Center for Bio–Ethical Reform
shows researchers that there are "approximately 3,700 abortions per day" ("Abortion Facts" 1). The
government should keep abortion legal because it helps women when they need it most. One main
issue dealing with this controversy is religion, which is why so many people oppose abortions.
Many people believe that their religious beliefs should decide what happens with everyone's life.
Roedy Green, a well known activist, believes that "[a] purely religious argument rightly has no place
in law" (Green 2). Another idea that is recognized by the general pro–life population is that abortion
is a form of murder and should not be accepted by the public. Even though these ideas circulate,
abortion is the choice of a woman and it should not be influenced by any law that the government
might pass because some

Facts On Abortion Research Paper
Over 42 million babies are killed in a year because of abortion. That is 115,000 deaths a day. After
the case Roe vs Wade was presented to the Supreme Court, abortions have been legal since. In the
United States, the topic abortion is very debatable. Many people think that abortion should be illegal
because of moral and religious views, while others think that abortion should be legal because of
women's' rights. Despite each view, abortions are becoming more and more common today,
especially in the United States. Abortions should be illegal because it is the murder of a human,
selfish, and problematic to women's health. What is abortion? "Abortion, expulsion of the products

¨Out of 42 million abortions annually, only 1% abortions are caused by rape or incest. 6% are
performed because of health issues. However, 93% of abortions occur because the child is unwanted

in the world kill 39,060,000 babies a year just because they are inconvenient. Babies don't have a
voice to speak out or give their opinion. But, their mothers, make the decisions for them. The
decision is to die. An article named ¨Abortion¨ on Gale Literary Devices states that ¨The idea of
choice–that a woman has a right to choose what she does with her body–comes in here. But is this
right greater than a fetus's right to life?"("Abortion") The answer is no. Everyone has their own right
to speak for themselves, so should the fetus. Another example of how selfish abortion is, is this, "A
controversy began in 1988 over a drug, developed in France, called RU 486, which, when taken
during the first seven weeks of pregnancy, causes the embryo to become detached from the uterus.
The drug was reported to safer and less expensive than surgical abortion"("Abortion" 11). In the

Essay about Reproductive Rights
Reproductive Rights
As women, it is important to remember that the reproductive freedoms we now have can be easily
taken away. Some people take for granted the accessibility to birth control, condoms, and abortion.
President Bush has initiated policies since coming into office that threaten women's choices. As the
Bush administration takes over, it is important for women and men to come together to support
women's rights. "Bush is setting a tone for anti–choice legislation, so I expect that any legislator
who is anti–choice will put something in this year," said Jessica Morgan, president of the Baltimore
chapter of the National Organization for Women (Koenig, B2). Legislative, executive, and judicial

federal crime to obstruct access to abortion clinics (Issues 2000).
Liberal groups argue that his opposition to current laws in these areas make him unfit to serve as
attorney general. Ashcroft has said, "he considers Roe vs. Wade a 'settled law' although he has

Essay On How To Abort A Fetus
There are many methods used to abort a fetus. Some are quite gruesome, while others are less
intrusive. The D&C (Dilation & Curettage) is occasionally used up to the twelfth week. The cervix
is dilated and a cruet is inserted into the uterus. The baby's body is then cut into pieces and removed
by suction. The uterine wall is then scraped, removing the placenta to empty the entire uterus. A
D&E (Dilation & Evacuation) can be performed up to eighteen weeks. The uterus is entered with a
forceps which grabs and twists the baby's body to dismember it. Sometimes the head needs to be
crushed in order to remove it. Another form of abortion is the Hysterotomy which can be used in the

If it is born still alive, it is uncared for and left to die. The next type of abortion is called
Prostaglandin. This procedure can be used during the second half of the pregnancy. A compound is
injected into the muscle of the uterus, much like a hormone, which causes intense contractions and
pushes out the baby. The contractions are so severe, that many babies are crushed to death. Again, if
the baby is born still alive, they are then left to die. The RU–486 used in the seventh week of
pregnancy is a synthetic steroid that blocks the hormone Progesterone. Once given the RU–486, the
woman then takes a second drug, Prostaglandin, used to induce labor and expel the dead baby. There
is another abortion drug named "Ella" that works the same way as the RU–486. The final abortion
procedure is that of "Suction Abortion." After the cervix is dilated, a tube with a serrated tip is
inserted into the woman's uterus. A suction, twenty nine times more powerful than a household
vacuum cleaner, tears the baby's body apart and sucks it through the hose into a container. This is the
usual method used in the United States during the first twelve weeks of

RU–486: The Abortion Pill
Introduction
Waiting eagerly for a decision from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pro–choice and pro–
life activists rallied to voice their opinions on the drug mifepristone, also known as RU–486.
However, the battle has just begun because RU–486, otherwise known as the abortion pill, was just
approved for use in the United States on September 28, 2000. This controversial drug, first used in
France, has been sparking debates in the U.S. ever since it was discovered in 1980. Now that it has
been approved, many argue that this drug will make abortion more prevalent; however, others
believe the approval of RU–486 is a positive decision and can greatly benefit women in the future.

percent needed medical intervention mostly for excessive bleeding, 4.7 percent had incomplete
abortions, and 1 percent had ongoing pregnancies at the end of the study protocol. In French trials, a
total of only 4.5 percent of women received surgical intervention, incomplete abortions, or ongoing
pregnancy at the end of the study (FDA, 2000). Also, there are no data on the safety and efficacy of
mifepristone in women with chronic medical conditions, women who are heavy smokers, or women
who are more than 35 years of age and smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day. These patients were
generally excluded from the clinical trials (FDA, 2000).
As a result of the clinical trials and other studies, the FDA requires that the patient should be given a
copy of the medication guide and patient agreement. These require that each patient understand and
sign a form that has information on what side effects can and probably will occur, in addition to
other pertinent information regarding the drug. The side effects that most patients can expect to
occur are vaginal bleeding and uterine cramping. Most bleeding or spotting lasts for an average of 9
to 16 days. Other commonly reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Rarely
occurring side effects include pelvic pain, fainting, headache, dizziness, and asthenia (FDA, 2000).

Evolution and Darwin Essay
Evolution and Darwin
In a society based on survival of the fittest, adaptation and evolution are the keys to success. If there
is a hurdle that a species cannot conquer as it is, it will then do everything it must to overcome it,
even if that means change. Throughout time, evolution has helped us to thrive in the toughest of
times. The human species is at the top of its class, overthrown by no other, but what happens when a
species begins to encounter hurdles within its own society? Can the human species overthrow itself,
making a new kind of human? (Bear 195) Did Charles Darwin leave out the last piece of the puzzle?

The two extreme beliefs as well as the mixed belief are displayed in Darwins Radio. Those who are
able to have faith in their bodies rather than making up their minds right away eventually see the
truth while the rest of the population is left in the dark.
Those who do not believe in evolution do not act rationally. They see the SHEVA babies as the
devils spawnborn with the mark of Satan. (Bear 433) Those who have lived their entire life
believing that God created us all and we never evolved from anything have no way of seeing the
possibility that the SHEVA virus may be the next step in evolution. Without the possibility of
evolution, the SHEVA virus can only be seen as an outbreak that must be stopped, but at what cost?
The people with a strong religious McCandless 3 background are pictured as ignorant in Darwins
Radio. There is an outcry for the government to think up a way to stop the spread of the SHEVA
virus, but when the suggestion of using RU–486 to abort these new SHEVA fetuses is presented,
there is yet another outcry for saving the lives of these babies. With riots and picketing in the streets,
begging for a solution, while at the same time referring to RU–486 as genocide, the government is at
a loss. However, the public does not understand why there is no quick and easy solution. With so
much pressure, the government begins to go into extremes. Even the vice president listens as

Abortion Pill Essay
Abortion Pill The subject of abortion has created some of the most controversial, social, and moral
debates in United States history. On Jan. 22, 1973, in the case Roe Vs. Wade, the Supreme Court
ruled that it was a woman's constitutional right to have an abortion during the first trimester of the
pregnancy (The Ruling). Still other interest groups argue that human life begins at conception and
having an abortion is murder to an unborn child. These opposing viewpoints create a delicate
political and social debate in which the lives of unborn children are placed in the center. The United
States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the RU 486 "abortion pill", citing
that the "overall safety of the pill is excellent"(Food ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The abortion pill makes psychological recovery much easier because the less time the child is in the
womb the less a mother becomes attached to the child.
In the United States today, 25% of all pregnancies end in abortion (Abortion: All Sides). With so
many lives in the balance, one of the primary arguments has become the physical health of women
who have abortions. Of the women that previously had a surgical abortion 90% said they would
prefer the pill if they had another abortion and would recommend it to others (Robinson). However
one of the side effects of RU 486 is bleeding up to 9 days, compared to a surgical abortion's five day
duration (Robinson). The recovery process is quicker with a surgical abortion but more traumatic.
One death in 200,000 occur with a surgical abortion, compared to one in 500,000 with the abortion
pill. Both of these alternatives are far safer for the mother than childbirth that claims one death in
every 14,300 births (Robinson). These statistics prove that the safest alternative for the mother in the
event of a pregnancy is an abortion using the abortion pill and the most dangerous is going through
with childbirth. However the safest thing for the child is natural childbirth by far. The voice of the
life in question is never heard and it has a one hundred percent chance of death in the first 2 cases.

Drosophila Melanogaster: A Genetic Analysis
With Drosophila melanogaster being an excellent paradigm for research in gene expression and
exploration, many genetic tools have been created in order to utilize the fruit fly's valuable
characteristics in both spatial and temporal control of gene expression. Numerous tools used to
study D. Melanogaster derive from the UAS–GAL4 gene expression system, and the system has
proven to be quite simple in terms of spatial control of gene expression. When using the UAS–
GAL4 system for temporal control, however, things get a little more complicated, and thus a
modified version of this system was created. This gene expression system is known as the
GeneSwitch GAL4 system, in which an adapted GAL4 protein is fused to a progesterone steroid,

Melanogaster. Although leakiness was proven within this system, it has practical uses for the
temporal control of gene expression. If we were to utilize this system in our research with Dr.
Beckingham, it would be advisable to test controls for the system in the type of driver we want to
use and the genes we want to knockdown in order to account for the system's leakiness. An
important application of the GeneSwitch system is the possibility of it being a great mechanism for
studying the effects of overexpression of multiple genes while other genes are being knocked down
at the same time. In Beckingham's lab, with further research in Drosophila, we may come across
points at which we would like to control the time at which certain genes are expressed or depleted
rather than the area at which they are. We also may want to have the means to knock down or
express multiple genes, and the GeneSwitch Gal4 system would be a practical way to accomplish
these goals in further

Abortion : An Argument For Abortion
Today we will be discussing about abortion in El Salvador
When discussing the idea of abortion there are usually debates around Pro–choice or Pro–life.
However, in El Salvador there is an abortion ban law, which means that women have no choice
whether they want to have an abortion or not.
El Salvador is 1 of 7 countries in Latin America where the abortion is completely banned (Alvarez,
674).
Some of you may be questioning what if the mother's life is at risk or what if there are
complications. Or even worse, what if young girls are raped and become pregnant. (Alvarez, 673)

(Oberman, 277).
It's not even to say that abortions are stopped, women still have abortions, they just try to do it
discreetly to avoid being penalized for it, which leads us to say then how effective is the law. In
other words the abortion laws are in fact just harming more than it is reducing abortions.
In countries like El Salvador women would use RU–486, which is also known as Mifeprex to have
an abortion (Oberman, 280).
This drug effectively terminates 90% of early pregnancy.
RU 486 is only safe and effective for terminating a pregnancy if taken by the woman during the first
7 weeks of pregnancy. (Oberman, 280).
Other drugs such as Cytotec is used to help with stomach ulcers, however it can be used to abort a
fetus and is successful in the black–market.
Although, Cytotec is used to abort the fetus it is only successful in 85% of cases, the other 15% of
cases, the pregnancy has continued or complications occurred. Reason being because Cytotec does
not have the ingredient that stops the development of the fetus like RU–486. (Oberman, 282)
Also with black–market products, you never know the correct dosage and how often to take it,
which also has an affect, as to whether or not the fetus is aborted or even overdosing can occur,
which will harm the mother and fetus.
Unlike RU 486, Cytotec can be taken up to 9 weeks of pregnancy (Oberman, 282).
In El Salvador if women wanted to take Cytotec they

Arguments Against Abortion Research Paper
Abortion is not as harmful as its opponents claim it to be. Instead of viewing abortion as "murder,"
society as a whole must consider abortion as a necessary alternative. Abortion can save a woman's
life, physically, mentally, and emotionally. In today's society, the following reasons clearly impact
the abortion dilemma. First, the definition of "life" the anti–abortionists provide us with is self–
contradictory. Second, abortions are safer than ever in the past. Third, abortions help society avoid
the challenges caused by unwanted children. Fourth, abortions benefit the mother's emotional life.
Finally, abortion has its consent from the Bible. Therefore, abortion in the United States of America
should remain legal.
The anti–abortionist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To return for a moment to the question of "ensoulment" : If ensoulment were to occur at conception,
there is a dilemma of one human possessing two souls. On the whole, the zygote is clearly not a
prepackaged human being. There is no body plan, no blueprint, and no lilliputian entity waiting to
mature. Since it is quite obvious that the anti–abortionist does not have a feasible argument or if he
or she does, it can be very well confuted. Therefore, the practice of abortion should remain legal in
America.
Due to the technological advances in human society, abortion today is remarkably safe and reliable.
As a matter of fact, abortion today is about twice as safe as having your tonsils out and is safer than
childbirth. Furthermore, abortion is eleven times safer than giving birth up to the 18th week of
pregnancy. Complications can occur with any kind of medical procedure. Fewer than five out of
1000 women having an early abortion will suffer serious complications. Until the late 1980's, the
only available methods for performing abortion were surgical, requiring instruments to remove the
products of conception from the uterus. In this decade, the introduction of a new medical
abortifacient, such as RU–486, added some new features in the debate. Unlike vacuum aspiration or
curettage, RU–486 does not involve insertion of instruments into the uterus and thus poses no risk of
accidental perforation and infection from unclean instruments.

The emergency contraception pill, often wrongly called the abortion pill, is a solution to the high

The RU–486 is an abortion pill. Taking the RU–486 is like having a surgical abortion. The ECP
should no longer be confused with the RU–486 pill. The ECP prevents conception instead of
inducing a miscarriage (Rosenthal 2). The ECP is taken before fertilization has taken place, while
the RU–486 pill is killing the child because it has already matured into a fetus. (Stewart 9). Many
people think taking this pill is just like killing their child, as if they were taking the RU–486 pill or
getting a surgical abortion. This is an incorrect assumption on their part. The ECP is taken within 72
hours of having unprotected sex, before the egg has been fertilized. This proves that the ECP is not
interfering with reproduction (Stewart 9).
Since the ECP is not an abortion pill, then how does it work? There are ten brands of emergency
contraception pills, Ovral, Lo/Ovral, Levien, Nordette, Levora, Alesse, Tri–Levien, Triphasil,
Trivora, and Ovrette. These brands contain different combinations of Norgestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol,
and Levonorgestrel (Stewart 7). The emergency contraception pill is much like birth control pills
that many women take on an everyday basis, but just contain a higher dosage of hormones then
regular birth control pills (McKeown 1). The pills should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected
intercourse to ensure effectiveness. Treatment is divided into two doses. The

The Pros And Cons Of Abortion
Abortion is the termination of a human pregnancy and is most often performed during the first 28
weeks of pregnancy. Abortion became legalized in 1973 and can be used in any reason for the
killing of the baby. However, in some states teenagers are required to have the consent of their
parents or guardians in order to have an abortion. In California, you are allowed to have an abortion
without parental consent, even if you are a minor, and the government will pay all cost of the
procedure if you can not afford it. This is legal due to the Privacy Act that was passed in 1974 that
stops the spread of information of individuals that are maintained in systems of records by federal
agencies. It is up to the women to pick the "choice" to kill a human being. Though no matter what
procedure is used the results are the same, a dead baby. Each year 1,500,000 babies are killed due to
abortion. This means that 4,000 babies are killed daily. Even though women chose to have an
abortion many usually do not know how the killings are done. There are 5 ways to have an abortion;
though, it depends on the timing of the pregnancy that will decide which procedure is best for the
women. There are two ways to abort a child in the early stages of pregnancy. The easiest way is to
use the RU–486; the RU–486 is a drug that blocks the food, fluid, and oxygen from the baby.
However, this can be done as early as the first missed period. Afterward a second drug is taken in
order to expel a tiny dead human being, the baby. The other choice is to use a procedure called
Suction Aspiration. This is where they use a plastic tube with a knife–like edge to tear the baby's
body into pieces. From there they suck everything into a bottle. If a women is in the stage of a mid
or late term pregnancy there are 3 procedures offered to them. The Dilation and Evacuation CD &
ED are used during the 3rd month of pregnancy. In this procedure the baby's legs and arms are
teared from the body using a twisting motion with pliers. Only the head is remained with the body;
afterwards the baby's skull is then crushed and pulled out of the uterus. The Prostaglandin Abortion

called the RU–486. This mifepristone is a synthetic steroid drug prescribed during the early weeks
of pregnancy (RU–486 1). France approved the use of the drug in 1988. This caused the right–to–
life groups to passionately oppose this drug. The abortion–rights groups were passionately trying to
make the public agree and use this drug (RU–486 1). The news of the RU–486 swept the U.S.
quickly and everyone soon knew what it was. The creators and sellers said this pill made it possible
to terminate early pregnancies without much pain and in private. They also said there will be few
medical complications and a rarely needed surgery (RU–486 1). But what people don't understand is
that abortion is not painless and could be

Abortion Is The Ending Of A Pregnancy
Abortion When a women becomes pregnant, they start to form a fetus in the womb of the women.
There are times when the mother of the fetus does not want the child. So in order to be rid of the
fetus they would go to the doctor to perform a surgery to be rid of the baby. The surgery is called
abortion, abortion is the ending of a pregnancy, performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.
Abortion began over several centuries ago, there is history of women helping each other to abort
their child. Until the late 1800s, women that specialized in medical procurers in Western Europe and
the U.S. help provide abortions and trained other women how to conduct the surgery, without legal
prohibitions. Several years later abortion became a crime for several reasons. Around the mid–19th
century broadened liberal support for criminalization, because at that time abortion was too
dangerous of a procedure to be done with crude methods, few antiseptics. Many women died of the
loss of blood or pain. Around the same time, male doctors began learning and started to were
tightening their skills and control over the medical profession. Doctors considered midwives, who
attended births and performed abortions as part of their regular practice, and valued them very
highly. Years later, the government began to make abortion illegal. Saying that the only reason to
have an abortion was because of rape or incest. That law later changed. But every state, there are
different restrictions. In the

Utilitarianism, And Virtue Ethical Dilemmas
I. Evaluate the choices faced by Steve Lewis, Peter Adario, and Eduord Sakiz (in Badaracco's
article) from the standpoints of the generalizability, utilitarian, and virtue ethics tests.
The manner Steve Lewis' handled the situation he encounters from the standpoints of generalization
was appropriate. Hooker (2011) said that we act for a reason, and all of his reasons have rationale,
which Steve act on without compromising his core beliefs. He was not satisfied just being a member
of the team, but he wants contributes to the team to maintain his self–respect and earn his

It is difficult to determine reasons behind organization decisions because businesses were
established to make profits. In today's global market, organization cannot survive if they stay on the
straight and narrow lane. Executives are continuing to respond to the global market by moving
around chess pieces on a chessboard to stay ahead of the game. It's hard to ignore what corporations
are about especially when it is painted all over their website. While some of these characters seem to
be moral, however integrity and virtue were sacrifices to fill their pockets as in the case of Wal–Mart
bribery cover–up in Mexico. Wal–Mart chose profits over integrity and virtue (David, 2012). In
2015, Starbucks decided to remove all Christian symbols from their holiday cups. While their
decision seems to be morally just, however it is impossible to ignore the fact they also benefit from
free advisement

To complete my research on RU–486 and past and present examples of Legal/Political Stonewalling
relative to women's issues and reproductive health rights in Canada, I will be heavily reliant on the
scholarship of other academics and on the record keeping of cabinet meetings and other such
assemblies or political interviews. I plan to begin by investing five dollars in my research so that I
might submit a request to the department of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy,
asking for anything and everything that has been written or produced by the Canadian federal
government on RU–486 since January 1st, 1995. I selected this date in particular because it will
limit me to include twenty years of information on RU–486 in Canadian politics

Abortion Medication (RU-486)
In today's society, unplanned pregnancies has become a big issue.many women turn to abortion to
solve their problems, putting their health at risk and taking the babies potential to grow older and
perhaps make a change in this world.here are my arguments why i am against abortion
medication(RU–486) and abortion itself.lets start with the reasons why i am against abortion
medication(RU–486).many tenagers start taking abortion medications like RU–486,known as the
abortion pill at a young age.many women think this method of abortion is safe and won't cause
health problems, according to the FDA(food and drug administration) RU–486 has caused
thousands of complications including death.this issue is important to research because this abortion

"The clinical trials looked at by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) reported on a single dose
per menstrual cycle in a limited group of women. In the real world, it will be used more frequently
and by all types of females"(wright).this is a real issue, thousands of women are taking these
abortion pills thinking they are safe but instead affecting their wellbeing.there should be more
research done on this type of abortion medication because deaths and health issues have already
occurred. there should be better labeling on this product to prevent future health issues or even
death, this problem happens everyday when women from other parts of the world don't understand
what the label is saying.this product should be removed from the market immediately until the
problem is fixed. it has been proven that this pill is 10 times worse than abortion through surgery "it
has caused the deaths of at least eight women (that are known); and it is at least ten times deadlier
than its surgical alternative"(michelle).i think this pill should be banned,it has already caused serious

Abortion Bans Should Not Include An Exception For Rape

  • 1. Abortion Bans Should Not Include An Exception For Rape Abortion Essay According to the article "Are Abortion Rights Threatened, 2013" over fifty million infants, died in 2012 before they even stepped foot into this world, due to abortion. To clarify abortion is the termination of the fetus in the mother's womb typically by chopping up the baby into pieces with a knife, cracking its skull and vacuuming out its brains, or with the drug RU–486. As a result, abortion is one of the most common and cruel cause of death in the United States, yet the government has legalized this practice. Moreover, there are other measures that can be taken if a women feels she needs an abortion including adoption and financial aid. Therefore, women should not choose to abort her baby, because it is immoral and harmful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So many argue that women have had their rights restricted throughout time and it is about time that women got body rights. Nevertheless, abortion is beyond a women's right to choose, since her decision will affect the life of another human being. Accordingly, the article "Abortion Bans Should Not Include an Exception for Rape" by Andrew P. Napolitano claims, "every unborn baby possesses a fully actualizable human genome: all the material necessary to grow to adulthood and to exist independently." Hence, a fetus should be considered a human being with natural rights, because it has the same fundamental characteristics as any other human. Moreover, the United States Declaration of Independence emphasizes the overall idea that it is the duty of the government to protect the natural rights of its citizens namely life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Consequently, a fetus should be respected under this document since it is a human, and have its right to life restored. On the whole, abortion should be outlawed, due to the fact that it is immoral and detrimental to a women's health. Abortion is immoral, because it takes away the baby's rights. Moreover, abortion is dangerous for women since, it can kill them and damage their reproductive system. Thus, it is every civilized person's duty to stand up against the crime of abortion. ... • 3. The Morality of Abortions Essay The Morality of Abortions Abortion's legalization through Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade, has allowed for one in three pregnancies to end in abortion. This means that 1.5 million abortions are performed in the United States each year (Flanders 3). It ranks among the most complex and controversial issues, arousing heated legal, political, and ethical debates. The modern debate over abortion is a conflict of competing moral ideas and of fundamental human rights: to life, to privacy, to control over one's own body. Trying to come to a compromise has proven that it one cannot please all of the people on each side of the debate. Many people describe the abortion debate in America as bitter and uncompromising, usually represented on both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agreeing to a time–based restriction could protect older fetuses and still safeguard the rights of most of the women seeking abortions, who are usually within 12 weeks of pregnancy. Coming to an agreement as to when the fetus is truly alive, is the next step to coming to a time–based restriction agreement. Medical science has advanced the ability of the fetus to survive outside the womb from about 28 weeks to about 23 to 24 weeks. Since the progression of medical technology is always changing, suggestions for compromise propose a cutoff date for elective abortions at eight to sixteen weeks, which is well before viability (Flanders 25). One of the strictest proposals includes prohibiting abortions after approximately the eighth week when fetal brain waves can be detected. Some say that this is appropriate because this is the same way that doctors determine the end of a person's life. Some supporters go so far as to say that there should be a sixteen week allowed time period, opposed to the eight week. Pro–choice people argue that this restriction would be less objectionable than the eight–week restriction since ninety percent of all abortions are performed within the twelfth week of pregnancy (Driefus 101). Millions of pro–choicers and pro–lifers believe that any such compromise would be impossible. From different ends of the argument, they criticize any proposal of time limits that would violate the rights of women or violate the rights of fetuses. They all agree ... • 5. Planned Parenthood And Its Impact On Women 's Health And... "Nothing matters." That quote attributed to Ambrose Bierce may be true in some cases. It may be true to those who do not value the funding of Planned Parenthood. But something does matter. And that is the funding of the healthcare resource Planned Parenthood. Many do not understand the vital role Planned Parenthood plays in the lives of up and coming parents. Planned Parenthood has been operating and serving those in need of care in the United States and overseas for more than 40 years ("Planned Parenthood Global"). Planned Parenthood has vowed in their mission statement: "Together with a staff of experts in medicine, sexual health, advocacy, communications, and law, these leaders offer a robust vision and common sense solutions designed to protect women's health and safety and the basic human rights of us all."("Our Leadership" par. 2) In overview, Planned Parenthood is an underappreciated healthcare resource that has helped terminate/prevent unwanted pregnancy, contributed to vital medical research, and educated persons of all ages in matters including sexuality and safe practices/choices. Planned Parenthood has recently been in the national spotlight due to the number abortions the facilities across the United States conduct. While Planned Parenthood clients have an 80% reach out rate due to unwanted pregnancy, only 3% of their services are abortion related. Planned Parenthood reduces the number of unwanted pregnancies worldwide by 516 000 each year. The organization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Should Abortion Be Legal? Legal or Illegal? Which would you prefer? Not many are willing to discuss such a gut wrenching topic, but this needs to be addressed. It is a very controversial topic with having to do with women rights and activists. Since there are two sides to every argument, there is one side such as to make abortion legal and the opposing side to keep abortions illegal. In my opinion making abortion illegal can regulate the amount of women who do get pregnant. I believe that making abortions legal will let women receive the right treatment and action that needs to be done. I hope that this would keep girls from receiving behind the scene care that can put their lives at risk. Abortion is a huge dilemma, not just in Arizona, but across the whole country. Even though this subject is hard to talk about, my position on it is very clear. My source states factual information about how teenagers and abortion are closely related to each other. The primary reason why abortion should be legal is because there are more than a million girls that get pregnant that are under the age of 20 every year, 82 percent of those are not planned and 42 percent of those are aborted. Also that more than 40,000 girls drop out of school each year because of being pregnant (Clark). This proves why abortion should be made legal, because young adults make mistakes and these facts show just how many girls get pregnant. These young girls should have to right to say if they want to keep the baby or not. Because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To this very day abortion has become a very sensitive issue worldwide. Known as a moral and ethical issue, abortion is an issue society should come to terms with. Abortion became legal on January 22, 1973 since women have the right to freedom and the choice to live their life as they please. Many years ago abortion was illegal and lots of women died because they tried to terminate their pregnancy themselves without professional help. In 1973 the Supreme Court passed a law that allowed women to have a choice of abortion. Abortion is the removal of a developing baby within in the mother womb by surgical ... According to Randall Terry a leader of the pro–life group operation he argues that abortion is murder because at conception we are all unique if we are all unique then isn't every sperm produced during masturbation unique and so isn't that murder? To me this is all contradiction and anti–abortionists arguments are groundless unsubstantiated. Abortion is not as bad as people claim it to be instead of seeing abortion as murder society should consider abortion as a necessary alternative. Abortion can save a woman's life mentally emotionally and physically. The following reasons apply– first the definition of life the anti–abortionists provide us with is self– contradictory, second abortions are safer now than in the past, third abortions help society with the challenges of unwanted pregnancies, and fourth abortions help the women's emotional life. • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Abortion Abortion is the termination of the fetus before it has been born. Abortion is either induced or spontaneous. An induced abortion is intentional and kills the baby while it is in its mother's uterus. The baby is killed either by the mother taking medication or by surgically killing it (Abortion the). This type of abortion normally occurs in the first or second trimester (Abortion Merriam). A spontaneous abortion is a natural death of the baby before it is born. This type of abortion is also known as a miscarriage and can happen anywhere between the first and twentieth week of the pregnancy(Abortion the). There are abortion clinics women can go to to have an induced abortion. There are different procedures women can have done to abort their baby. Women have given numerous reasons of why they have had an abortion. Some mothers can't afford a child or aren't ready for a child. Some don't want their baby because it has health problems. Guttmacher Institute surveyed one thousand two hundred nine women that had abortions. Twenty– five percent of women said that they were not ready for a child. Twenty–three percent said that they couldn't afford a baby. Nineteen percent said that they were done having children. Eight percent said that they don't want to be a single mother. Abortion : A Politically Popular Debate "And Jesus said, 'You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"(Matthew 19:18–19). Abortion is a highly popular debate with many different viewpoints. Abortion should be restricted to prior to six weeks of pregnancy due to the fact that it is murder, it causes pain to the woman and the fetus, it is morally unethical, and it goes against the baby 's right to life. If the embryo has not begun to develop as a fetus, it is not yet living or considered human which means that the abortion cannot be considered murder. This supports the fact that each Jokinen human being created has the right to live. Given these facts, it clearly says no person shall be deprived of life. In conclusion, it should not matter if the human is not born yet, but as long as the human has a heartbeat, it should be an automatic right to live and if not, then they are being deprived of life. As well as abortion being murder, if the abortion is done after six weeks of pregnancy, it can cause pain to the mother and baby. Under some circumstances, people chose to abort their embryo post six weeks once the embryo has developed a heart beat. After six weeks, "The embryo's neural tube closes and it curves and bulges into three sections, commonly known as the forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. At the same time, special neural cells form and migrate throughout the embryo to form the very beginnings of nerves. What are the particular differences regarding abortion in various contexts? Hello I am Denita Singh, a fourth–year student in conflict studies and human rights, and in this episode I am going to look at the question of Abortion in the specific case of El Salvador. [Music] Today I will be discussing about abortion in El Salvador When discussing the idea of abortion, there are usually debates around Pro–choice or Pro–life. The purpose of the abortion ban is to stop people from having abortions, however, there is an increase of mortality rate because the mothers' high mortality rate while giving birth to their babies , which in essence means that two people are dying in some situations rather than a fetus or 1 person. El Salvador has a higher abortion rate than the United States, wherein abortion is legal. Clearly, it's not even to say that abortions are stopped, women still have abortions, they just try to do it secretly to avoid being penalized for it, which leads us to say then how effective is the law. In other words the abortion laws are in fact just harming more than reducing the number of abortions. In countries like El Salvador women would use RU–486, which is also known as Mifeprex to have an abortion. This drug effectively terminates 90% of early pregnancies. RU 486 is only safe and effective for terminating a pregnancy if taken by woman during the first 7 weeks of pregnancy. Other drugs such as Cytotec is used to help with stomach ulcers, though it can be used to abort a fetus and is popular in the black–market. Although, Cytotec is used to abort the fetus, it is only successful in 85% of cases, in the other 15% of cases, the pregnancy has continued or complications have occurred. • 21. Abortion Essay Jayda Bbosa Ms.Roan ELA 23 September 2017 Abortion In 1973, the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion. Abortion is the termination of a fetus during human pregnancies, which is mainly done during the first twenty–eight weeks of pregnancy. For decades, abortion has been a very controversial topic to the world. Pro–life supporters believe that abortion is form of murder, yet pro–choice supporters believe that women should be able to choose what they want to do with their bodies. Therefore, the conflict on whether abortion is right has become a very controversial topic in society. The process of abortion can be done in various ways. The most common way of getting an abortion is by the RU–486 method. The RU–486 method, is a drug/pill that is taken for two months, that eventually poisons the baby. This pill blocks the progesterone. Another way of getting an abortion is by the Dilation and Evacuation method. The Dilation and Evacuation method is done by dilating the cervix, and then inserting an instrument to tear up the baby. In addition, the Prostaglandin Abortion is another way of getting an abortion. The Prostaglandin Abortion method is done by injecting a feticide into the unborn baby's heart. Some abortion methods, like the RU–486 method, can terminate a baby a week later, yet some other methods terminate the baby during the process. Since abortion was legalized in 1973, roughly 1,500,000 fetuses have been aborted each year. I support abortion, because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Partial–birth abortions in the third trimester, and the recent "day–after" or the RU–486 pill, now add a new attitude on the abortion issue. Partial–birth abortions and abortions in the third trimester are exceedingly controversial, because they involve the termination and/or expulsion of an actual fetus from the womb, whereas many early–prenatal abortions involve the expulsion of the embryo. In some countries, and for a while in America, partial–birth abortions meant that the baby was breached halfway through the womb, and then its neck was broken, which killed the baby instantly. Since then, the United States has banned it as a result of the many infuriated pro–life and even some pro–choice members who found it to be extremely inhumane. The RU–486 pill sends messages telling the brain that the woman that was inseminated, was already pregnant, and that the ovum that had been created, is removed because the body believes it is already impregnated. These operations raise many of the same problems as abortion itself. However one may feel about abortion can be based off of many different reasons. In 1994–1995 the Population Council the U.S. patent rights for mifepristone, and clinical trials began. In September 1996 the FDA issued an approval for RU–486 to be used as a safe alternative to surgical abortion, but they also said, they wanted more information on how the drug was manufactured and labeled before they could make their final decision. On September 28, 2000 the FDA approved RU–486 as a method for early medical abortion. Mifepristone can be used till the eighth week of pregnancy. The woman is required to go to at least three doctor office appointments during the treatment. The drug is taken by mouth usually once unless directed differently by the woman's doctor. The woman has to take misoprostol within forty– eight hours of taking the mifepristone (RU–486). Some side effects of these drugs are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and/or dizziness. Out of those unsafe abortions there have been about 8,500,000 mothers needed to have medical attention because they were either depressed, or very injured. 47,000 mothers have died in those abortions. A spontaneous abortion is any pregnancy where the fetus does not have the ability to survive or is born before the 20th week of pregnancy. It also consists of the removal of a fetus, or an embryo that is ineligible for survival (Brittanica's Editorial Staff 1). The definition of abortion is not as simple as the debate over the abortion issue. A statement is never censored in the aspect of human life, but simply left open for awareness. A defenseless baby, who has not yet had the chance to breathe and function as a human being, is frowned upon by many unsupported abortion advocates. However, the reflecting opposite is just as responsive. It is a female's right to appoint what happens to her body, and she should not feel compelled to if she decides not to bring a child into existence. • 41. Should Abortion Be Legal? When a woman chooses abortion she is killing a human, right? Wrong. There is no issue more polarized than abortion (Green 1). This issue is one that everybody recognizes and some do not seem to want to acknowledge. The abortion controversy is usually split between two sides: pro–life and pro–choice, where pro–life promoters see to that abortion should never be an option no matter what and pro–choice believers are for the idea of personal freedom and a woman choosing whether to get an abortion or not. No social issue in America since slavery has ever been as divisive as that of abortion (Messerli 1). Concerning abortion, a study done by the Center for Bio–Ethical Reform shows researchers that there are "approximately 3,700 abortions per day" ("Abortion Facts" 1). The government should keep abortion legal because it helps women when they need it most. One main issue dealing with this controversy is religion, which is why so many people oppose abortions. Many people believe that their religious beliefs should decide what happens with everyone's life. Roedy Green, a well known activist, believes that "[a] purely religious argument rightly has no place in law" (Green 2). People in the world kill 39,060,000 babies a year just because they are inconvenient. Babies don't have a voice to speak out or give their opinion. But, their mothers, make the decisions for them. • 47. Essay On How To Abort A Fetus There are many methods used to abort a fetus. Some are quite gruesome, while others are less intrusive. The D&C (Dilation & Curettage) is occasionally used up to the twelfth week. The cervix is dilated and a cruet is inserted into the uterus. The baby's body is then cut into pieces and removed by suction. The uterine wall is then scraped, removing the placenta to empty the entire uterus. A D&E (Dilation & Evacuation) can be performed up to eighteen weeks. The uterus is entered with a forceps which grabs and twists the baby's body to dismember it. Sometimes the head needs to be crushed in order to remove it. Another form of abortion is the Hysterotomy which can be used in the last three months of pregnancy. The mother's stomach is cut open, much like a "C ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If it is born still alive, it is uncared for and left to die. The next type of abortion is called Prostaglandin. This procedure can be used during the second half of the pregnancy. A compound is injected into the muscle of the uterus, much like a hormone, which causes intense contractions and pushes out the baby. The contractions are so severe, that many babies are crushed to death. Again, if the baby is born still alive, they are then left to die. The RU–486 used in the seventh week of pregnancy is a synthetic steroid that blocks the hormone Progesterone. Once given the RU–486, the woman then takes a second drug, Prostaglandin, used to induce labor and expel the dead baby. There is another abortion drug named "Ella" that works the same way as the RU–486. The final abortion procedure is that of "Suction Abortion." After the cervix is dilated, a tube with a serrated tip is inserted into the woman's uterus. A suction, twenty nine times more powerful than a household vacuum cleaner, tears the baby's body apart and sucks it through the hose into a container. RU-486: The Abortion Pill Essay RU–486: The Abortion Pill Introduction Waiting eagerly for a decision from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pro–choice and pro– life activists rallied to voice their opinions on the drug mifepristone, also known as RU–486. However, the battle has just begun because RU–486, otherwise known as the abortion pill, was just approved for use in the United States on September 28, 2000. This controversial drug, first used in France, has been sparking debates in the U.S. ever since it was discovered in 1980. Now that it has been approved, many argue that this drug will make abortion more prevalent; however, others believe the approval of RU–486 is a positive decision and can greatly benefit women in the future. Also, 1.6 percent needed medical intervention mostly for excessive bleeding, 4.7 percent had incomplete abortions, and 1 percent had ongoing pregnancies at the end of the study protocol. In French trials, a total of only 4.5 percent of women received surgical intervention, incomplete abortions, or ongoing pregnancy at the end of the study (FDA, 2000). Also, there are no data on the safety and efficacy of mifepristone in women with chronic medical conditions, women who are heavy smokers, or women who are more than 35 years of age and smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day. These patients were generally excluded from the clinical trials (FDA, 2000). As a result of the clinical trials and other studies, the FDA requires that the patient should be given a copy of the medication guide and patient agreement. These require that each patient understand and sign a form that has information on what side effects can and probably will occur, in addition to other pertinent information regarding the drug. The side effects that most patients can expect to occur are vaginal bleeding and uterine cramping. Most bleeding or spotting lasts for an average of 9 to 16 days. Other commonly reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Rarely occurring side effects include pelvic pain, fainting, headache, dizziness, and asthenia (FDA, 2000). If there is a hurdle that a species cannot conquer as it is, it will then do everything it must to overcome it, even if that means change. Throughout time, evolution has helped us to thrive in the toughest of times. The human species is at the top of its class, overthrown by no other, but what happens when a species begins to encounter hurdles within its own society? Can the human species overthrow itself, making a new kind of human? (Bear 195) Did Charles Darwin leave out the last piece of the puzzle? Those who do not believe in evolution do not act rationally. They see the SHEVA babies as the devils spawnborn with the mark of Satan. (Bear 433) Those who have lived their entire life believing that God created us all and we never evolved from anything have no way of seeing the possibility that the SHEVA virus may be the next step in evolution. Without the possibility of evolution, the SHEVA virus can only be seen as an outbreak that must be stopped, but at what cost? The people with a strong religious McCandless 3 background are pictured as ignorant in Darwins Radio. There is an outcry for the government to think up a way to stop the spread of the SHEVA virus, but when the suggestion of using RU–486 to abort these new SHEVA fetuses is presented, there is yet another outcry for saving the lives of these babies. With riots and picketing in the streets, begging for a solution, while at the same time referring to RU–486 as genocide, the government is at a loss. • 53. Abortion Pill Essay Abortion Pill The subject of abortion has created some of the most controversial, social, and moral debates in United States history. On Jan. 22, 1973, in the case Roe Vs. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that it was a woman's constitutional right to have an abortion during the first trimester of the pregnancy (The Ruling). Still other interest groups argue that human life begins at conception and having an abortion is murder to an unborn child. These opposing viewpoints create a delicate political and social debate in which the lives of unborn children are placed in the center. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the RU 486 "abortion pill", citing that the "overall safety of the pill is excellent"(Food ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The abortion pill makes psychological recovery much easier because the less time the child is in the womb the less a mother becomes attached to the child. In the United States today, 25% of all pregnancies end in abortion (Abortion: All Sides). With so many lives in the balance, one of the primary arguments has become the physical health of women who have abortions. Of the women that previously had a surgical abortion 90% said they would prefer the pill if they had another abortion and would recommend it to others (Robinson). However one of the side effects of RU 486 is bleeding up to 9 days, compared to a surgical abortion's five day duration (Robinson). The recovery process is quicker with a surgical abortion but more traumatic. One death in 200,000 occur with a surgical abortion, compared to one in 500,000 with the abortion pill. Both of these alternatives are far safer for the mother than childbirth that claims one death in every 14,300 births (Robinson). These statistics prove that the safest alternative for the mother in the event of a pregnancy is an abortion using the abortion pill and the most dangerous is going through with childbirth. However the safest thing for the child is natural childbirth by far. The voice of the life in question is never heard and it has a one hundred percent chance of death in the first 2 cases. Drosophila Melanogaster: A Genetic Analysis With Drosophila melanogaster being an excellent paradigm for research in gene expression and exploration, many genetic tools have been created in order to utilize the fruit fly's valuable characteristics in both spatial and temporal control of gene expression. Numerous tools used to study D. Melanogaster derive from the UAS–GAL4 gene expression system, and the system has proven to be quite simple in terms of spatial control of gene expression. When using the UAS– GAL4 system for temporal control, however, things get a little more complicated, and thus a modified version of this system was created. An important application of the GeneSwitch system is the possibility of it being a great mechanism for studying the effects of overexpression of multiple genes while other genes are being knocked down at the same time. In Beckingham's lab, with further research in Drosophila, we may come across points at which we would like to control the time at which certain genes are expressed or depleted rather than the area at which they are. In other words the abortion laws are in fact just harming more than it is reducing abortions. In countries like El Salvador women would use RU–486, which is also known as Mifeprex to have an abortion (Oberman, 280). This drug effectively terminates 90% of early pregnancy. RU 486 is only safe and effective for terminating a pregnancy if taken by the woman during the first 7 weeks of pregnancy. (Oberman, 280). Other drugs such as Cytotec is used to help with stomach ulcers, however it can be used to abort a fetus and is successful in the black–market. Although, Cytotec is used to abort the fetus it is only successful in 85% of cases, the other 15% of cases, the pregnancy has continued or complications occurred. Reason being because Cytotec does not have the ingredient that stops the development of the fetus like RU–486. (Oberman, 282) Also with black–market products, you never know the correct dosage and how often to take it, which also has an affect, as to whether or not the fetus is aborted or even overdosing can occur, which will harm the mother and fetus. Instead of viewing abortion as "murder," society as a whole must consider abortion as a necessary alternative. Abortion can save a woman's life, physically, mentally, and emotionally. In today's society, the following reasons clearly impact the abortion dilemma. First, the definition of "life" the anti–abortionists provide us with is self– contradictory. Second, abortions are safer than ever in the past. Third, abortions help society avoid the challenges caused by unwanted children. Fourth, abortions benefit the mother's emotional life. Finally, abortion has its consent from the Bible. Therefore, abortion in the United States of America should remain legal. The anti–abortionist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the whole, the zygote is clearly not a prepackaged human being. There is no body plan, no blueprint, and no lilliputian entity waiting to mature. Since it is quite obvious that the anti–abortionist does not have a feasible argument or if he or she does, it can be very well confuted. Therefore, the practice of abortion should remain legal in America. Due to the technological advances in human society, abortion today is remarkably safe and reliable. As a matter of fact, abortion today is about twice as safe as having your tonsils out and is safer than childbirth. Furthermore, abortion is eleven times safer than giving birth up to the 18th week of pregnancy. Complications can occur with any kind of medical procedure. Fewer than five out of 1000 women having an early abortion will suffer serious complications. Until the late 1980's, the only available methods for performing abortion were surgical, requiring instruments to remove the products of conception from the uterus. In this decade, the introduction of a new medical abortifacient, such as RU–486, added some new features in the debate. Unlike vacuum aspiration or curettage, RU–486 does not involve insertion of instruments into the uterus and thus poses no risk of accidental perforation and infection from unclean instruments. ... • 67. The Pros And Cons Of Abortion Abortion is the termination of a human pregnancy and is most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion became legalized in 1973 and can be used in any reason for the killing of the baby. However, in some states teenagers are required to have the consent of their parents or guardians in order to have an abortion. In California, you are allowed to have an abortion without parental consent, even if you are a minor, and the government will pay all cost of the procedure if you can not afford it. This is legal due to the Privacy Act that was passed in 1974 that stops the spread of information of individuals that are maintained in systems of records by federal agencies. It is up to the women to pick the "choice" to kill a human being. Though no matter what procedure is used the results are the same, a dead baby. Each year 1,500,000 babies are killed due to abortion. This means that 4,000 babies are killed daily. Even though women chose to have an abortion many usually do not know how the killings are done. There are 5 ways to have an abortion; though, it depends on the timing of the pregnancy that will decide which procedure is best for the women. There are two ways to abort a child in the early stages of pregnancy. The easiest way is to use the RU–486; the RU–486 is a drug that blocks the food, fluid, and oxygen from the baby. However, this can be done as early as the first missed period. Afterward a second drug is taken in order to expel a tiny dead human being, the baby. The other choice is to use a procedure called Suction Aspiration. This is where they use a plastic tube with a knife–like edge to tear the baby's body into pieces. From there they suck everything into a bottle. If a women is in the stage of a mid or late term pregnancy there are 3 procedures offered to them. The Dilation and Evacuation CD & ED are used during the 3rd month of pregnancy. In this procedure the baby's legs and arms are teared from the body using a twisting motion with pliers. The Japanese people are trying to make it legal for more kids to be born to the same family, and if Japan bans abortion their problem of slow birthrate will dissipate (Leonard 1). "Womenomics" changed Japan by bringing women into the workforce. In 2015 66% of women got a job, which is high for Japan but low for other economies. Only around 9% of women are managers in Japan while in the U.S. 43% of all managers are women (Leonard 2). That is an improvement that can still get better. Until the late 1800s, women that specialized in medical procurers in Western Europe and the U.S. help provide abortions and trained other women how to conduct the surgery, without legal prohibitions. Several years later abortion became a crime for several reasons. Around the mid–19th century broadened liberal support for criminalization, because at that time abortion was too dangerous of a procedure to be done with crude methods, few antiseptics. Many women died of the loss of blood or pain. Around the same time, male doctors began learning and started to were tightening their skills and control over the medical profession. Doctors considered midwives, who attended births and performed abortions as part of their regular practice, and valued them very highly. Years later, the government began to make abortion illegal.
