2. The conversation -
In this section of the clip, Sarah,
her husband and her daughter
are discussing what they're
going to do when they get home,
and what the daughter wants to
do for her birthday. The pace of
this scene is quite slow, due to
the fact that they’re just having a
conversation, in contrast to the
scene that comes straight after it.
The slow pace of this scene
makes the viewer feel as if
everything is normal and nothing
is going to happen – however,
this is not the case.
3. The crash -
This is the scene where the
crash takes place, which
comes directly after the
conversation scene. In
complete contrast to the
conversation scene, the pace
of this scene is very fast – this
is due to the fact that a crash
takes place, which would
happen very quickly. The fast
pace of the scene makes it
more dramatic and makes the
viewer feel as if they are
involved in the crash
themselves.
4. CGI -
Computer generated imagery is
the application of computer
graphics to create or contribute to
images in art, printed media, video
games, films, television, adverts,
videos and simulators - this is
used quite a lot throughout this
clip. In this particular clip, CGI
would have been used on the
parts where the poles go through
the windscreen of the car, into
Paul’s head and through the car
seat. Some of the blood would
have been computer generated
and the poles themselves are
likely to be CGI also. This means
that they would have been put into
the film after it had all been shot,
when it was in the process of
being edited.
