The Washington Post listed some interesting statistics: About 6% of surveyed individuals responded, “their relationships suffered as a result of excessive Internet use.” About 9% attempted to conceal “nonessential Internet use.” Nearly 4% reported feeling “preoccupied by the Internet when offline.” About 8% said they used the Internet as a way to escape problems Almost 14% reported they “found it hard to stay away from the Internet for several days at a time.” Some statistics from the Stanford University study: 13.7 percent of those interviewed found it hard to stay away from the Internet for several days at a time 12.4 percent stayed online longer than intended very often or often 12.3 percent had seen a need to cut back on Internet use at some point 8.7 percent attempted to conceal non-essential Internet use from family, friends and employers 8.2 percent used the Internet as a way to escape problems or relieve negative mood 5.9 percent felt their relationships suffered as a result of excessive Internet use
5. Internet Warfare Internet warfare- verb; activity in which one or more participants utilize tools over the Internet to attack another or the information of another. The objective of the attack may be to damage information, hardware, or software, or to deny service. Internet warfare also involves any defensive action taken to repel such an attack. The internet has now become a form of weapon for attack. This involved categories like: -Personal -Corporations -Public -Governmental
6. Growing up Online Doc. In this documentary, Growing Up Online, a young boy is twelve years old and commits suicide because of a weakness against online bullies. A sixteen year old girl exploits her body online for many people to see because when she is online she can be someone else, someone different. Most of these internet addicted, or even internet effected people are looking for somewhere to go. The internet gives them the opportunity, and how it is responded to is simply up to the consumed.
8. The Extremes Have holidays been enforced and kept alive to feed a consumer frenzy? Instead of taking a vacation to relax, we take them to spend and embrace technology and media. Statistics show that we rely on technology and an internet connection like we rely on having a pulse. How did we do it before? There are people out there that would refuse to part from technology when going on vacation, or even a simple camping trip
9. The positive: The internet gives us a piece of mind. Enables us to explore areas of the world, geology and any information individuals crave We have advances in mathematics, medicine and world organization
10. The internet can be a guide for the lost When internet is properly used as a tool instead of a pulse, it can be very positive. It can relieve stress with it’s organizers. It can make a holiday happen because of it’s online booking and easy to shop around on.
