Window Shutters In Georgian And Victorian Home
Window shutters are a solid and stable form of window covering. Shutters are highly practical and were
once popular in Georgian and Victorian homes. Their ability to be made in all sorts of shapes and sizes
makes them perfect for the windows that are usually awkward to find coverings for.
A shutter consists usually of a frame of vertical stiles and horizontal rails. There are a number of different
types of shutters with different material set within the frame. Some of these include solid panels, fabric,
glass or louvers. The louvers may be both operable or fixed, horizontal or vertical.
There are a number of practical advantages of having shutters within the home. You can use them to
control the amount of light that comes into a room, or the airflow into a room. They can create further
privacy and can protect your furniture and belongings from the UV rays of the sun. ... Show more content

On some buildings you can often see some shutters to cover not only windows but also some doors.
Complete Blinds has a great range of shutters available for the interior decoration of a building. These
interior shutters are usually hinged on either side of a window opening. These will then swing inwards to
allow access to the window behind the shutter, or to allow light into the room. Shutters with operable
louvres allow you to control light, visibility and airflow with slats that rotate open or closed.
There are multiple ways the shutters can be configured. You can configure them in a single tier unit that
has one shutter top to bottom or they can be configured with multiple tiers. With a multiple tier shutter unit
you can open the top shutters independently from those at the bottom. This style of shutter looks
particularly good on bay windows. Another type of shutter is the caf© style shutter. These shutters only

Structural Insulated Structures Essay
The Dirty Secret About Structural Insulated Panels for Timber Homes
Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are used in the construction of homes and commercial buildings all over
the world. SIP panel homes are constructed using the best building materials on the market today, and the
technology makes them a perfect fit when building a home.
The construction of floors, walls, and roofs that are made from these panels are resistant to moisture, are
fire retardant, and can cut the overall cost of materials and labor drastically. No other building materials
compare to the results achieved with a sturdy, functionally green, family friendly home when using
structural insulated panels.
Research and testing with these panels began in the 1930s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cost Efficiency of Using SIPs
The very way SIP panels are constructed is cost efficient by being prefabricated and delivered to the
construction site ready to assemble. The structural insulated panels cost pays for themselves by lowering
the entire building budget dramatically. With SIPs home kits, the need for work crews to frame the house is
eliminated. Here are a few more benefits of building with structural insulated panels.
Unlike modular or prefabricated buildings, SIPs panels can be made for individual needs. The panels are
built to last for many years and offer numerous design styles.
The panels are more airtight and environmentally safe than traditional building materials, using less energy
to heat and cool, which can lower energy costs up to 60 percent.
Each panel can be customized with the additions of factory pre–cut openings for electrical boxes, wiring,
windows, and doors.
Reduces overall construction time as much as 60 percent. Traditional construction takes months. Once the
panels are delivered, assembly takes two to three weeks.
Requires no specialized tools and less skilled labor for installation. No need for expensive contractors and
workers hammering and sawing. The panels snap together.
The very way they are made leaves a smaller carbon foot print for going green.
Raises resale value of the home. Homes with SIPs are already in high demand.
Using structural insulated panel home kits can save money over time because there is no

Victor Prouvé And Marie Duhamel
Victor Prouvé and Marie Duhamel gave birth to son Jean Prouvé on April 8, 1901, in Nancy. Prouvé's
father was an artists. He focused on sculpting and painting, while his mother, Marie, was a pianist. Prouvé
has six other siblings and was born second. The craftsman Emile Galle was Jean Prouvé's grandfather. He
created inlay furniture and glassware. Prouvé was surrounded by designers. He was raised in a family that
valued art and believe everyone should have the ability to own it or create it.
When starting his career he was very interested in metals. He was able to perfect iron skills, while learning
about newer metals like aluminium. He was the first blacksmith, and was very interesting in welding. In

reservation. The GUI should look similar to what is shown below. It need not be exactly the same, but try
to have the "general " look be the same: The UI works as follows: 1. The customer fills in the form (with
the exception of the rental amount which is automatically calculated). 2. When the customer clicks the
Submit button, the UI should extract the data from the UI, instantiate a Reservation object containing the
data, compute the cost of the reservation and update the Rental Amount textfield, and store the newly

Instead, create a class RentalCharges which will have symbolic constants for this data. If the prices change,
none of the UI code will need to be changed. Only the RentalCharges class will need to be modified.
Coding in this manner improves the maintainability of your code. It also reduces the likelihood of bugs
being introduced when the prices change – because the price information will be stored in only one place
(no need to change multiple pieces of code or look through lots of code to try to find where the prices have
been hardcoded). Break your GUI into multiple JPanel classes. This allows you to instantiate one of your
panels and add it to a JFrame to test it. Once you have all the panels working, you can combine them
together to create a more complex UI. Start by creating a program that creates an empty window Next,
write a class for one of your sub–panels. Then instantiate the sub–panel and add it to your JFrame for
testing. Repeat this for your other sub–panels. At least one of your JPanels will need access to the array list

1.2 Stay–in–Place Deck Forms
A significant portion of the bridge construction schedule can be attributed to the forming and stripping of
concrete deck forms. Stay–in–place concrete deck forms are used to eliminate the need to strip forms after
the concrete deck has been cast and cured. The two (2), most common forms of stay–in–place deck forms
are corrugated steel sheets and partial depth precast concrete panels. (U.S Department of Transportation,

1.2.1 Corrugated Steel Stay–in–Place Deck Forms
Galvanized corrugated steel sheets are placed above the bridge girders from flange to flange to act as a
stay–in–place deck form. Furthermore, these steel deck forms act to provide support for the reinforcing
steel in the deck slab as well as supporting the weight of weight concrete during the construction process.
Corrugated steel stay–in–place deck forms remain in place for the live of the structure thus serving to
eliminate the need of form stripping and the associated schedule time. Corrugated Steel Stay–in–Place

The solutions?
To prevent your door from sliding opening, in the event that your latch fails, use a secondary lock such as a
wooden or metal dowel along the tracks of the sliding door panel. There are other secondary locks
designed for sliding doors, but the most important thing to look for is, that the lock cannot be undone from
the outside.
Insure against a person lifting your sliding door out of its frame make sure that the sliding panel of the door

The Panels With A Gutter
Next, both authors utilize structure in order to view problems as humans do, in hindsight, but Spiegelberg
does it a bit differently by utilizing the format of the panels with a gutter in between them. First, when
Vladek is telling Artie about a letter he received, his silhouette of him sitting on the stationary bike is
depicted. As he mentions that the letter came with a photo, a panel containing a picture of a female mouse
is drawn tilted, larger, and overlapping his silhouette, as to call attention to the picture instead. Underneath
where the picture overlaps, there's an illustration of Vladek placing the picture in a frame (17). The panels
are larger and contain less text, portraying a calmer part of the story, rather than one filled ... Show more

It simply has a drawing of Anja expressing, "But I don't care. I just don't want to live" (31). The lack of a
gutter here allows for the confusion entailing these emotions, which she expressed in the previous panel, to
carry over into the next one and to combine with whatever she feels there. Her character is drawn much
larger than any other on that page, which accentuates her slanted eyebrows, slouched posture, and flattened
ears, fully grasping a human emotion of confusion and anxiety. The tilted panel allows the reader to clearly
sense this emotion from her and create a sense of pathos, for the look on her face is one that is easily
related to. Overall, the gutters in between panels and they're varying displays allow for the mice's
emotional states to become highlighted and clearly referenced to the extremely similar ways humans react
to negative occurrences.
Next, Spiegelberg also uses structure in a way that allows for a vivid comparison of time frames, switching
from past events to present situations. For instance, as Vladek is telling Artie about Lucia, an old girlfriend,
Art interrupts him to ask, "But, Pop... Mom's name was Anna Zylberberg!" and his father responds with,
"All this was before I met Anja– just listen, yes?" (14). These exchanges of dialogue are depicted
differently than others because they are introduced while Vladek is telling

I was really excited to actually see the story of the Monkey King because growing up as a child that was
one of the favorite T.V shows that I truly enjoyed from the start to the end of each episode. After reading
this book, I have really given much appreciation to the authors of graphic novels or narratives. The story in
the book American Born Chinese, is mainly about Jin but has other stories as well within the book. It
initially starts with story of the Monkey King, and then it switches to Jin's story in the second chapter. The
story then switches to Danny's story with a repetition of the same pattern. ... Show more content on

What Is Bosch's Epitomizes The Believing Impulse?
It is hard to imagine anything more fascinating for an art historian than the symbolism in the works of
Hieronymus Bosch. In fact, very little is concretely known about Bosch's life. This muteness makes the
master who was so fond of setting riddles a riddle himself . Perhaps, it is vain to surmise exactly what
influenced Bosche's kunstwollen. For this reason, a biographical approach will not suffice in coming to
terms with a specific creative impulse. This essay endeavors to explain why the triptych painting The
Garden of Earthly Delight, epitomizes the Believing Impulse. This category evidences an interest in the
divine as a dominant value. This value guides representation of the unseen world in visual media. It is an
expression of the relationship between humans and the divine, and between the mundane and divine
world(s). The Garden of Earthly Delight is believed to be a commissioned work. In the Burgundian
Netherlands, Counts were powerful players who likely commissioned the piece. The Netherlands was
under the influence of the medieval church, which bred two mutually antagonistic patrons to Bosches
work: The traditional guardians of the alter, and a radical opponent who kept the traditional form of the
altarpiece while at the same time destroying its old meaning . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The demarcation between magic and art, and magic and religion during this time was cloudy. Elements of
mystery were important to the thought process of the time, and could not be disengaged from their

science, where he aimed to materialize the spiritual, and connect man to God. The Garden of Earthly
Delight follows the medieval alchemical stages of the period: Conjunction, multiplication, putrefaction,
and resurrection, to beautifully frame The Believing

Construction Sequence for a Typical Project
Work Events Make Construction Sequence A Typical Project
Construction Sequence for Typical Project Management of construction projects needs skills and
knowledge in modern management and comprehension of construction and design process. In construction
projects, the relevant technology processes, and arrangements differ, but common sequence of events
apply. Construction projects generally require a specification of the project plans and objectives that entail
budgeting, scope, setting of performance requirements, scheduling, and project participants (Rojas, 2009).
It also requires project management specifics like the resource utilization by procurement of materials,
labor, and equipment to project plan and schedule. In addition, it leads to implementation of several
operations by effective control, estimation, design, construction, and contracting (Mincks & Johnston,
2010). The sequence of events occurring in the construction phase is categorized into three broad areas
including foundation, structural, and finishes sequence. In construction projects, the sequence of
construction entail the determination of building sequence, subdivision of floor plan, determination of floor
sequence, and determination of work rate. Fundamental principles in lean construction create a sequence
that includes the stop line and lat work process for correction of systematic problems (Rojas, 2009). This
also involves the pulling versus pushing process, the one–piece flow process,

Persepolis Summary
Persepolis is written by Marjane Satrapi, and is about her life as a young Iranian girl during the Islamic
Revolution. She comes from a wealthy family that does not like the current Iranian shah because he
believes that the country is too western. The government forces Iranians to be religious, by praying and
repressing the women into wearing veils. Marjane's parents protest the shah and he is eventually
overthrown, but the prime minister that succeeds him is not very good either. During the revolution
Marjane questions her beliefs and one of the things that she does not like about her country is its social
divide. Marjane's maid, Mehri, falls in love with the neighbor next door, but because she is a maid, their
love is doomed to fail. In the opening frame on page 34 there is a picture of Mehri with a caption reading
"This is Mehri," and she is wearing a black dress. She looks happy, but in panel two she is crying. This
frame is a flashback to when Mehri was just eight years old. Her parents are giving her to Marjane's

The Influence Of Infill In Structural Structures
2.1. Introduction: A large number of research studies were made to investigate the contribution of masonry
infill in enhancing the global stiffness and strength of reinforced concrete framed structures under seismic
actions. The role of infill is ignored most of the time in the modeling due to lack of knowledge about the
complex interaction between concrete frames and masonry (THE STATE–OF–THE–ART IN INFILLED

(2002) and ElDakhakhni (2002) based on these studies failure modes are divided into five main modes.
These are as follows: 1. Diagonal cracking mode (DK mode): In this case a diagonal strut is formed
between two loaded corners and the failure occurs between these corners by formation of diagonal tension
crack as shown in Fig.1.1–a. This mode often happens in weak frames with infill having strong mortar
(Experimental and Analytical Seismic Evaluation of Concrete Masonry–Infilled Steel Frames Retrofitted
using GFRP Laminates; Mehrabi and Shing 1997). 2. Corner crushing mode (CC mode): In this mode the
infill crushes in at least one of the loaded corners, as shown in Fig. 1.1–b. This failure shows frequently a
clear diagonal strut mechanism with two clear parallel cracks (Behavior and analysis of masonry–infilled
reinforced concrete frames subjected to lateral load). This failure is associated with masonry material of
weak compressive strength. This mode is more likely to take place other than the rest of failure modes
(Experimental and Analytical Seismic Evaluation of Concrete Masonry–Infilled Steel Frames Retrofitted

Comic books can portray one thing and mean another. The reader, while reading, doesn't think about the
shading or spacing as they read a comic book, but it could change the whole outcome because of the
setting or characters mood. Scott McCloud showed many examples of different concepts based on image,
language, and composition. All of these concepts seen in Kindred by Octavia E. Butler are transition, the

Marketing Systems And Community Engagement Theories Essay
INTRODUCTION
Globalization has resulted in rapid increase of trade between different countries across the globe. These
trades have resulted in creation of marketing systems that helps the individuals to get their desired product
very easily. This report will provide an insight into marketing system and community engagement with the
help of different theories. Further the case of Milo cricket program for kids will be discussed along with
the application of event sequencing map method to explain those marketing system and community
engagement theories. Few videos of milo cricket programs have been selected to provide a link of those
events to the theories used.
LITERATURE REVIEW Marketing systems
Marketing systems consist of two or more individuals that are engaged in a trade which is mutually
beneficial for them over a period of time (Layton 2007). According to Layton 2009, when there is a trade
then there is a need for specialized roles and marketing structures to handle those trades efficiently. These
specialized roles and structures are controlled by marketing systems. Marketing systems can be found from
tribal societies to advanced economies and can take different forms like simple barter between small
groups to big trading networks linking Asia and Western Europe (Layton 2011).

Body Labor Quotes
When your vehicle has been in an accident, and the body of your vehicle was damaged, your vehicle is
going to need to have collision work done on it. When you take it to an auto body shop, they are going to

Representation of Pace in the Comic Strip 'Calvin and Hobbes'
PDF File References Introduction In the media there are a variety of images and texts that are used to
convey a host of ideas. This is because the artist is attempting to improve the reader's understanding of
particular concepts by using these elements in conjunction with each other. To fully understand how this is
taking place requires looking at comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. During this process there will be an
examination that is focused on a number of areas. To include: how the pace is illustrated, the way the
panels relate to one another, the differences / similarities between the two panels, the representational
meaning and the main story plot of the comic strip. Together, these different elements will provide the
greatest insights as to how these factors are used in correlation with one another to tell a larger story. How
is 'pace' illustrated in this set of comics strip? The way that pace is represented in the comic strip is through
highlighting action. This occurs by showing Calvin running home at the beginning of the comic strip. It
will then display select amounts of drama, with Calvin looking into a dark room. This is the point that
Hobbs jumps out and startles him. The next several frames are showing the intense amounts of emotions
and action. At which point, Calvin discovers it is Hobbs. This is when the intensity is winding down. These
different elements are important, in illustrating how the pace starts out with lots of action. These frames are

Joe Johnston
Joe Johnston began his career storyboarding and creating concept art for Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI.
He then transitioned into art direction, and then overall direction. Recently, he is best known for directing
Jumanji and Captain America; The First Avenger.
Droids C3PO and R2D2 look out the window of a space ship. Repeating circular shapes balance the
composition while drawing the viewer into the scene through framing the window. The focal point of the
image is the window. The darkness of outside the space ship weights the drawing in the center, and the
framing elements of the droids also draws the viewer to the center of the frame. The character's attention is

Using the scale of the moon and details of the surface of the planet, it was successfully communicated how
far the ship was from the ground. This sequence could have easily been shot straightforward and would
lack any excitement or dynamic. Johnston successfully create an interesting sequence through varying the
camera height and angle throughout the decent. The light colored Millennium Falcon is always overlapping
with some part of the dark void of space in each frame, causing it to be the focal point of all shots. The
texture of the planet becomes more recognizable as the ship moves closer to the surface, communicating
the changing distance between the ship and the planet. In addition to lack of surface detail in the first 4
frames, the shape repetition changes from circular to organic and abstract. This is a successful sequence
due to the use of shape, value, and detail to communicate to the viewer the story of the Millennium Falcon
landing on a planet.
Two different sequences of two frames each, use similar techniques to communication the story. Both
sequences use the framing element of foreground environment and foreground figures to push focus to
what characters are looking at in the middle and backgrounds.
In the top set, the figures are looking at the vehicle in the bottom right corner of the first panel. The camera
is then taken closer to the vehicle to introduce the character driving it; Luke Skywalker, the

Superheroes In X-Men Essay
In the 1982 graphic novel, X–Men: God Loves, Man Kills by Claremont and Anderson the few
superheroes from the X–Men series are introduced in chapter one differently than a typical superhero
would be first introduced. The author and illustrator worked together to introduce them in a different way
to compare being a man–good creature versus just a normal human being. Superheroes are often portrayed
all in the same way due to their same characteristics that make up the basic superhero. As Coogan states a
superhero must possess three main qualities: mission, power and identity. Coogan defines the mission of a
superhero the reason of being a middle man between an evil forces and innocent civilians. The identity of a
superhero is more of the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each superhero has a different frame angle to show their powers that are embodied in everyone with
possessing the titles of being a superhero. Cyclops is put in a panel from being look down upon to show his
man–god characteristic of being able to shoot lasers out of his eyes. Manipulation is also considered a
superhero power due to the amount of people it could possibly affect as shown with a low angle of Storm
in a concurrent panel. The ability to cause chaos or destruction is usually portrayed in a supervillain but
with Wolverine he has these powers to transform into a man–god even with the view of him being from a
few feet away in a long shot. Anderson also embodies Coogan's idea of the identity of a superhero should
consist of an elaborate costume to separate their normal identity from the superhero identity. Being in a
tight spandex suit that completely covers your face would completely hide your human identity to the
world just like Cyclops is pictured in the first panel of the page. In the second panel, Storm is also pictured
in a spandex suit but, this time it's blue with some accents for other possible tasks and the addition to
having a cape that would allow her to travel more easily by flying places. Wolverine has a mainly yellow
suit with emphasis on his physical appearance underneath it

Questions On Structural Insulation Panels
Introduction
Nowadays, structural insulation panels (SIPs) are used increasingly in a wide range of different structural
applications. Therefore, this report investigates into widespread aspects of the SIPs to confirm the
appropriateness of panels that can be combined into design work.
To construct this report, several sections have been researched .The analysis includes the explanation,
history, and operation of SIPs. Also, case studies: River Studio by Sjölander da Cruz Architects and
Museum of Outdoor Arts Element House by MOS Architects are used to investigate about panels used onto
buildings. Moreover, the report briefly explains the benefits and detriments of panels. Last but not least,

They have taken the continuous research on SIPs for over 30 years which helped to develop the SIPs in its
design and materials. ( Panjehpour, Ali, and Voo, 2013)
In 1936, Frank Lloyd Wright used a form of SIPs to construct the Usonian homes. Alden B. Dow, an
American architect who was the student of Frank Lloyd Wright, created the first foam core SIPs in 1952.
Rigid foam insulation became accessible when the affordable SIPs had mass production by the 1960s.
(Morley, 2000)
Operation
SIPs are prefabricated panels, which are assembled and pre–cut in the manufactory. Features such as
window openings, headers can be included on the panels according to the design submission by a builder.
(Cold Climate Housing Research Center, 2015)
Figure 1.2 SIPs are cutting in the factory
The size and thickness of panels depend on the application and thermal or structural requirements. In the
United Kingdom , the material of panels normally is orientated strand board grade 3 or plywood combined
with various plastic foams including expanded polystyrene, extruded polystyrene, urethane and other
similar insulation cores. (Porteous and Kermani, 2013)
Panels must comply with the standards of fire safety and load–bearing according to the International
Building Code and the International Residential Building Code .(Cold Climate Housing Research Center,
2015)

Advantages Of Cost Benefit Analysis
5. Cost–benefit analysis of GC–CPCS
Cost–benefit analysis is a financial decision making tool. It is a consistent procedure for evaluating
decisions in terms of their consequences. While the benefit can be expressed in terms of increase in power

cost of equipment, fabrication, masonry and excavation work. Operating cost: The operating cost is well
identified in terms of the power required to run the blower

Analysis Of Joachim Patinir 's Triptych, The Penitence Of...
Netherlandish use of triptychs–three distinct art pieces that simultaneously exist as individual images and
as a collective picture–usually were presented as devotional images and altarpieces. Joachim Patinir's
triptych, The Penitence of Saint Jerome (c. 1512–1515, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY), employs both
the same form of traditional triptychs and the Netherlandish tradition of extended panoramic landscapes;
however, the triptych breaks traditional convention. The three separate panels share the same landscape
which allows the figures to exist in the same pictorial space. This maintains an unbroken continuation of
the landscape, which adds not only to the content within a single panel, but to the entire narrative of the
triptych. Yet, each individual panel is also worthy of its own analysis and discussion. The left panel depicts
the first of three saints, Saint John the Baptist, in the midst of his signature baptizing of Christ. A river
flows from the furthest reaches of the landscape down to the bottom frame, with Christ standing thigh–
deep in the water, a dove alighting from God perched in the clouds in the top left. Saint John kneels over
him on the riverbank while a group of people huddle in the distance behind the baptism scene. In
traditional style, the triptych simultaneously depicts a central scene as well as past and future narrative
events–present here as Saint John preaching chronologically before the actual baptism of Christ. The

Persuasive Essay On Oak Doors
Why You Should Choose Oak Doors
When it comes to doors, both internal or external, oak is the best option. Oak doors provide optimal levels
of security, privacy, insulation, and elegance. They are the best way to balance functionality and beauty.
Security and Privacy
External oak doors provide high levels of security and privacy. They keep intruders out and maintain your
family's privacy. Oak doors are known for providing security because of how solid they are, making it
difficult for intruders to enter your home.
Additionally, they help keep your home private because the wood material is non–transparent and even
when combined with glass, the glass is usually glazed. For optimum security and privacy from outsiders,

Oak doors are also highly energy efficiency because they provide excellent insulation. External oak doors
help keep your interior temperature stable, which can help reduce energy bills. The benefits are also true
for internal oak doors, which are designed to help keep individual rooms properly insulated. Insulation is
particularly important in the UK to help cope with weather conditions.
The insulation provided by oak doors is not limited to temperature. Oak doors provide insulation that also
reduces noise, which is a major benefit. Noise can cause stress and create a tense environment. Fortunately,
oak doors keep all noise at a minimum, whether it's from outside or inside. On days you need peace and
relaxation, you will be most grateful for the quietness oak doors can provide.
Elegance and Style
Compared to other doors, oak doors offer a sense of elegance and style. They are remarkably exquisite and
superiorly crafted. Since doors are a piece of decor and compliment the theme of your home, their style
and finish matter. Oak doors are timeless beauties, making your home come alive. External and internal
oak doors can completely transform and revitalize your home. Both traditional and contemporary oak

Compare And Contrast Calvin And Hobbes
Writing 121 The Calvin and Hobbes comic Scientific Progress Goes "Boink" is the comic strip I chose to
read. I want to note that I have never read a comic strip in a book form and generally had only seen them in
newspapers many years ago when I was a child. I first noticed how the comic strip was visually created. I
noticed the detail each panel held as well as the use of speech bubbles and free floating text. The detail
helped keep my attention to each panel longer than reading the words. This kept me engaged on each panel
for a longer period of time than I expected. I noticed that sounds were communicated very well by
illustrating their impact using different artistic styles. I particular think when Calvin locks Rosalyn out of
the house the author did a great job of showing her anger, frustration, and urgency to get in the house. In
one panel you see a speech bubble emphasized with a pointed frame that sets the dialogue apart from the
other frames. You can clearly see the author wants you to feel Rosalyn's anger. ... Show more content on

New York City has always been a place where people migrate to, from all places, both from outside the

came out of their journey. It shows any emotion and reflects how the society viewed their journey. If the
emotions and experiences from the time were positive, they produced very positive art, but more often than

Fitting And Installing External Bifolding Doors
Fitting and Installing External Bifolding Doors
External bifolding doors are perhaps the best and most affordable solutions when you are looking to bring
a little extra light and warmth into your home. More often than not, the space in which you 'll be installing
these doors will also already be an existing aperture, so it 's not like you 'll need to get the sledgehammer
out and take down the kitchen or living room wall! If you 're reading this then that 's something you
probably already understand, as you 're presumably considering installing a set of bifolding doors yourself.
These doors will most likely either be installed leading out into your garden or patio from a kitchen, lounge
or dining room area, so please take into account that, whilst you 're working, this area will be exposed to
the elements. As such, this is a job you 're going to want to get done in as expeditious a manner as
humanely possible, so whilst you obviously feel you have the DIY skills to do the job, you might want to
ask for some help from a friend or family member to get the job done in a single day or, at the very least,
weekend. Please note that the following guide relates specifically to exterior bi–fold doors. Whilst many of
the steps involved with installing interior bi–fold doors will be similar, or even identical in some cases,
there are also some serious differences, some of which will be less obvious than others.

Are External Bifold Doors Secure?
Are External Bifold Doors Secure? Locks And Safety
When it comes to your home, safety is obviously going to be one of your most significant concerns, and
one of the primary reasons homeowners might be put off installing a set of external bifold doors is due to
security issues. However, they would be mistaken in thinking that bifold doors are a less secure option than
conventional patio doors or french doors, as, in fact, if you take the right measures and precautions, they
can actually be one of the most secure options for the rear of your home.
Bifold Door Security
Whilst many might think of wardrobe doors when they hear the word "Bifold," bifolding doors have
actually become incredibly popular of late as conservatory doors or doors leading from your kitchen and/or
living room into the garden. This is because they are aesthetically pleasing, bring a great deal of light and
warmth into any room they 're attached to, and are energy efficient and space saving. However, many
people also assume that they are magnets for thieves, which is not true at all. It might be true that thieves
occasionally target conservatories, because they are often less secure or more poorly constructed than the
rest of the house, but the doors themselves will have no impact on their decision, and bi–fold doors are
generally a lot harder to break into than typical french doors or sliding doors.
Many bifold doors will come with a multi–point locking system, as well as a hidden, inline tracking

Rhetorical Analysis Of ' The Mystery ' Essay
Watchmen Rhetorical Analysis With the admission of confidence and guilt from Veidt, to the explosion of
psychic energy that destroys New York, the last two pages of chapter eleven of Watchmen are filled with
"moving lines", moments in a work that are filled with meaning and emotion. In these two pages, the
mystery that has fueled the plot of the graphic novel reaches an epic climax in which the themes and ideas
within the work are simultaneously revealed and questioned. With deliberate structure, powerful imagery,
and self–reference, Alan Moore literally and figuratively destroys motifs that he had built throughout the
work to challenge the morality represented by Veidt and force the reader to question how right or wrong it
is. Firstly, the structure of these pages reveals much toward the emotional impact. Usually cut into 3x3
frames with dialogue, these pages break the conventions that had been built through eleven issues. The first
page is filled with three page–length rows, only one of which contains text. In the text, Ozymandias
delivers a crippling line which emphasizes the pointlessness and helplessness of heroes that have been built
up throughout the comic to be fighters and winners. The second row is the look of shock, with a gigantic
doomsday clock in the background, imagery that has been used to the point of motif, once again
emphasizing the inevitability of doom. Finally, the last row is that of innocent bystanders of the city of

Window Shutters In Georgian And Victorian Home

  • 1. Window Shutters In Georgian And Victorian Home Window shutters are a solid and stable form of window covering. Shutters are highly practical and were once popular in Georgian and Victorian homes. Their ability to be made in all sorts of shapes and sizes makes them perfect for the windows that are usually awkward to find coverings for. A shutter consists usually of a frame of vertical stiles and horizontal rails. There are a number of different types of shutters with different material set within the frame. Some of these include solid panels, fabric, glass or louvers. The louvers may be both operable or fixed, horizontal or vertical. There are a number of practical advantages of having shutters within the home. You can use them to control the amount of light that comes into a room, or the airflow into a room. They can create further privacy and can protect your furniture and belongings from the UV rays of the sun. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On some buildings you can often see some shutters to cover not only windows but also some doors. Complete Blinds has a great range of shutters available for the interior decoration of a building. These interior shutters are usually hinged on either side of a window opening. These will then swing inwards to allow access to the window behind the shutter, or to allow light into the room. Shutters with operable louvres allow you to control light, visibility and airflow with slats that rotate open or closed. There are multiple ways the shutters can be configured. You can configure them in a single tier unit that has one shutter top to bottom or they can be configured with multiple tiers. With a multiple tier shutter unit you can open the top shutters independently from those at the bottom. This style of shutter looks particularly good on bay windows. Another type of shutter is the caf© style shutter. These shutters only cover the lower portion of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Structural Insulated Structures Essay The Dirty Secret About Structural Insulated Panels for Timber Homes Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are used in the construction of homes and commercial buildings all over the world. SIP panel homes are constructed using the best building materials on the market today, and the technology makes them a perfect fit when building a home. The construction of floors, walls, and roofs that are made from these panels are resistant to moisture, are fire retardant, and can cut the overall cost of materials and labor drastically. No other building materials compare to the results achieved with a sturdy, functionally green, family friendly home when using structural insulated panels. Research and testing with these panels began in the 1930s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cost Efficiency of Using SIPs The very way SIP panels are constructed is cost efficient by being prefabricated and delivered to the construction site ready to assemble. The structural insulated panels cost pays for themselves by lowering the entire building budget dramatically. With SIPs home kits, the need for work crews to frame the house is eliminated. Here are a few more benefits of building with structural insulated panels. Unlike modular or prefabricated buildings, SIPs panels can be made for individual needs. The panels are built to last for many years and offer numerous design styles. The panels are more airtight and environmentally safe than traditional building materials, using less energy to heat and cool, which can lower energy costs up to 60 percent. Each panel can be customized with the additions of factory pre–cut openings for electrical boxes, wiring, windows, and doors. Reduces overall construction time as much as 60 percent. Traditional construction takes months. Once the panels are delivered, assembly takes two to three weeks. Requires no specialized tools and less skilled labor for installation. No need for expensive contractors and workers hammering and sawing. The panels snap together. The very way they are made leaves a smaller carbon foot print for going green. Raises resale value of the home. Homes with SIPs are already in high demand. Using structural insulated panel home kits can save money over time because there is no ... It need not be exactly the same, but try to have the "general " look be the same: The UI works as follows: 1. The customer fills in the form (with the exception of the rental amount which is automatically calculated). 2. When the customer clicks the Submit button, the UI should extract the data from the UI, instantiate a Reservation object containing the data, compute the cost of the reservation and update the Rental Amount textfield, and store the newly created Reservation object in an ArrayList of Reservations 3. When the new Reservation object is created in step #2, it should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead, create a class RentalCharges which will have symbolic constants for this data. If the prices change, none of the UI code will need to be changed. Only the RentalCharges class will need to be modified. Coding in this manner improves the maintainability of your code. It also reduces the likelihood of bugs being introduced when the prices change – because the price information will be stored in only one place (no need to change multiple pieces of code or look through lots of code to try to find where the prices have been hardcoded). Break your GUI into multiple JPanel classes. This allows you to instantiate one of your panels and add it to a JFrame to test it. Once you have all the panels working, you can combine them together to create a more complex UI. Start by creating a program that creates an empty window Next, write a class for one of your sub–panels. Then instantiate the sub–panel and add it to your JFrame for testing. Repeat this for your other sub–panels. At least one of your JPanels will need access to the array list of Reservations. (U.S Department of Transportation, 2011) 1.2 Stay–in–Place Deck Forms A significant portion of the bridge construction schedule can be attributed to the forming and stripping of concrete deck forms. Stay–in–place concrete deck forms are used to eliminate the need to strip forms after the concrete deck has been cast and cured. The two (2), most common forms of stay–in–place deck forms are corrugated steel sheets and partial depth precast concrete panels. Furthermore, these steel deck forms act to provide support for the reinforcing steel in the deck slab as well as supporting the weight of weight concrete during the construction process. • 19. The Panels With A Gutter Next, both authors utilize structure in order to view problems as humans do, in hindsight, but Spiegelberg does it a bit differently by utilizing the format of the panels with a gutter in between them. First, when Vladek is telling Artie about a letter he received, his silhouette of him sitting on the stationary bike is depicted. As he mentions that the letter came with a photo, a panel containing a picture of a female mouse is drawn tilted, larger, and overlapping his silhouette, as to call attention to the picture instead. Underneath where the picture overlaps, there's an illustration of Vladek placing the picture in a frame (17). The panels are larger and contain less text, portraying a calmer part of the story, rather than one filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It simply has a drawing of Anja expressing, "But I don't care. I just don't want to live" (31). The lack of a gutter here allows for the confusion entailing these emotions, which she expressed in the previous panel, to carry over into the next one and to combine with whatever she feels there. Her character is drawn much larger than any other on that page, which accentuates her slanted eyebrows, slouched posture, and flattened ears, fully grasping a human emotion of confusion and anxiety. The tilted panel allows the reader to clearly sense this emotion from her and create a sense of pathos, for the look on her face is one that is easily related to. Overall, the gutters in between panels and they're varying displays allow for the mice's emotional states to become highlighted and clearly referenced to the extremely similar ways humans react to negative occurrences. Next, Spiegelberg also uses structure in a way that allows for a vivid comparison of time frames, switching from past events to present situations. For instance, as Vladek is telling Artie about Lucia, an old girlfriend, Art interrupts him to ask, "But, Pop... Mom's name was Anna Zylberberg!" and his father responds with, "All this was before I met Anja– just listen, yes?" (14). In fact, very little is concretely known about Bosch's life. This muteness makes the master who was so fond of setting riddles a riddle himself . Perhaps, it is vain to surmise exactly what influenced Bosche's kunstwollen. For this reason, a biographical approach will not suffice in coming to terms with a specific creative impulse. This essay endeavors to explain why the triptych painting The Garden of Earthly Delight, epitomizes the Believing Impulse. This category evidences an interest in the divine as a dominant value. This value guides representation of the unseen world in visual media. It is an expression of the relationship between humans and the divine, and between the mundane and divine world(s). The Garden of Earthly Delight is believed to be a commissioned work. In the Burgundian Netherlands, Counts were powerful players who likely commissioned the piece. The Netherlands was under the influence of the medieval church, which bred two mutually antagonistic patrons to Bosches work: The traditional guardians of the alter, and a radical opponent who kept the traditional form of the altarpiece while at the same time destroying its old meaning . ... Construction Sequence for a Typical Project Work Events Make Construction Sequence A Typical Project Construction Sequence for Typical Project Management of construction projects needs skills and knowledge in modern management and comprehension of construction and design process. In construction projects, the relevant technology processes, and arrangements differ, but common sequence of events apply. Construction projects generally require a specification of the project plans and objectives that entail budgeting, scope, setting of performance requirements, scheduling, and project participants (Rojas, 2009). It also requires project management specifics like the resource utilization by procurement of materials, labor, and equipment to project plan and schedule. In addition, it leads to implementation of several operations by effective control, estimation, design, construction, and contracting (Mincks & Johnston, 2010). The sequence of events occurring in the construction phase is categorized into three broad areas including foundation, structural, and finishes sequence. In construction projects, the sequence of construction entail the determination of building sequence, subdivision of floor plan, determination of floor sequence, and determination of work rate. Fundamental principles in lean construction create a sequence that includes the stop line and lat work process for correction of systematic problems (Rojas, 2009). She comes from a wealthy family that does not like the current Iranian shah because he believes that the country is too western. The government forces Iranians to be religious, by praying and repressing the women into wearing veils. Marjane's parents protest the shah and he is eventually overthrown, but the prime minister that succeeds him is not very good either. During the revolution Marjane questions her beliefs and one of the things that she does not like about her country is its social divide. Marjane's maid, Mehri, falls in love with the neighbor next door, but because she is a maid, their love is doomed to fail. This mode often happens in weak frames with infill having strong mortar (Experimental and Analytical Seismic Evaluation of Concrete Masonry–Infilled Steel Frames Retrofitted using GFRP Laminates; Mehrabi and Shing 1997). 2. Corner crushing mode (CC mode): In this mode the infill crushes in at least one of the loaded corners, as shown in Fig. 1.1–b. This failure shows frequently a clear diagonal strut mechanism with two clear parallel cracks (Behavior and analysis of masonry–infilled reinforced concrete frames subjected to lateral load). This failure is associated with masonry material of weak compressive strength. This mode is more likely to take place other than the rest of failure modes (Experimental and Analytical Seismic Evaluation of Concrete Masonry–Infilled Steel Frames Retrofitted using GFRP Laminates). 3. This is because the artist is attempting to improve the reader's understanding of particular concepts by using these elements in conjunction with each other. To fully understand how this is taking place requires looking at comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. During this process there will be an examination that is focused on a number of areas. To include: how the pace is illustrated, the way the panels relate to one another, the differences / similarities between the two panels, the representational meaning and the main story plot of the comic strip. Together, these different elements will provide the greatest insights as to how these factors are used in correlation with one another to tell a larger story. How is 'pace' illustrated in this set of comics strip? The way that pace is represented in the comic strip is through highlighting action. This occurs by showing Calvin running home at the beginning of the comic strip. It will then display select amounts of drama, with Calvin looking into a dark room. This is the point that Hobbs jumps out and startles him. The next several frames are showing the intense amounts of emotions and action. At which point, Calvin discovers it is Hobbs. This sequence could have easily been shot straightforward and would lack any excitement or dynamic. The light colored Millennium Falcon is always overlapping with some part of the dark void of space in each frame, causing it to be the focal point of all shots. The texture of the planet becomes more recognizable as the ship moves closer to the surface, communicating the changing distance between the ship and the planet. In addition to lack of surface detail in the first 4 frames, the shape repetition changes from circular to organic and abstract. This is a successful sequence due to the use of shape, value, and detail to communicate to the viewer the story of the Millennium Falcon landing on a planet. • 62. Analysis Of Joachim Patinir 's Triptych, The Penitence Of... Netherlandish use of triptychs–three distinct art pieces that simultaneously exist as individual images and as a collective picture–usually were presented as devotional images and altarpieces. Joachim Patinir's triptych, The Penitence of Saint Jerome (c. 1512–1515, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY), employs both the same form of traditional triptychs and the Netherlandish tradition of extended panoramic landscapes; however, the triptych breaks traditional convention. The three separate panels share the same landscape which allows the figures to exist in the same pictorial space. This maintains an unbroken continuation of the landscape, which adds not only to the content within a single panel, but to the entire narrative of the triptych. Yet, each individual panel is also worthy of its own analysis and discussion. The left panel depicts the first of three saints, Saint John the Baptist, in the midst of his signature baptizing of Christ. A river flows from the furthest reaches of the landscape down to the bottom frame, with Christ standing thigh– deep in the water, a dove alighting from God perched in the clouds in the top left. Saint John kneels over him on the riverbank while a group of people huddle in the distance behind the baptism scene. In traditional style, the triptych simultaneously depicts a central scene as well as past and future narrative events–present here as Saint John preaching chronologically before the actual baptism of Christ. The central, larger panel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Compare And Contrast Calvin And Hobbes Writing 121 The Calvin and Hobbes comic Scientific Progress Goes "Boink" is the comic strip I chose to read. I want to note that I have never read a comic strip in a book form and generally had only seen them in newspapers many years ago when I was a child. I first noticed how the comic strip was visually created. I noticed the detail each panel held as well as the use of speech bubbles and free floating text. The detail helped keep my attention to each panel longer than reading the words. This kept me engaged on each panel for a longer period of time than I expected. I noticed that sounds were communicated very well by illustrating their impact using different artistic styles. I particular think when Calvin locks Rosalyn out of the house the author did a great job of showing her anger, frustration, and urgency to get in the house. In one panel you see a speech bubble emphasized with a pointed frame that sets the dialogue apart from the other frames. You can clearly see the author wants you to feel Rosalyn's anger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calvin has a big personality and often gets ahead of himself and needs to talk through his actions before making a mistake. In the first story Calvin is dealing with being bullied. You notice here first that the reader is learning life lessons from Calvin in a humorous manner. An example is when Calvin says things like "I know stealing is wrong, but HE stole it from ME, and if I DON'T steal it back Moe will just keep it, and that's not fair" If you notice certain words are bolded to emphasize their meaning. This is found throughout comic. The next panel shows Calvin planning his attack on Moe. This shows the lesson and the humor allowing the reader to take a serious situation like childhood bullying and completely giving it a light humor to it to appeal to a wide variety of ages. Younger kids will learn from the story while adults will find the humor in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Visua Visual Art Research Paper New York City has always been a place where people migrate to, from all places, both from outside the United States and in. So many people come here because it is full of opportunity and chances to grow and change for a better life. Often what comes with that is art, art that shows the struggle and the joys that came out of their journey. It shows any emotion and reflects how the society viewed their journey. If the emotions and experiences from the time were positive, they produced very positive art, but more often than not the art reflected the hardships and the struggles that people went through. It's much stronger to convey negative emotions, those are important to let out an outlet. It is often not only a way to vent out frustrations but get the point of those frustrations across. ... • 75. Fitting And Installing External Bifolding Doors Fitting and Installing External Bifolding Doors External bifolding doors are perhaps the best and most affordable solutions when you are looking to bring a little extra light and warmth into your home. More often than not, the space in which you 'll be installing these doors will also already be an existing aperture, so it 's not like you 'll need to get the sledgehammer out and take down the kitchen or living room wall! If you 're reading this then that 's something you probably already understand, as you 're presumably considering installing a set of bifolding doors yourself. These doors will most likely either be installed leading out into your garden or patio from a kitchen, lounge or dining room area, so please take into account that, whilst you 're working, this area will be exposed to the elements. As such, this is a job you 're going to want to get done in as expeditious a manner as humanely possible, so whilst you obviously feel you have the DIY skills to do the job, you might want to ask for some help from a friend or family member to get the job done in a single day or, at the very least, weekend. Please note that the following guide relates specifically to exterior bi–fold doors. Whilst many of the steps involved with installing interior bi–fold doors will be similar, or even identical in some cases, there are also some serious differences, some of which will be less obvious than others. • 77. Are External Bifold Doors Secure? Are External Bifold Doors Secure? Locks And Safety When it comes to your home, safety is obviously going to be one of your most significant concerns, and one of the primary reasons homeowners might be put off installing a set of external bifold doors is due to security issues. However, they would be mistaken in thinking that bifold doors are a less secure option than conventional patio doors or french doors, as, in fact, if you take the right measures and precautions, they can actually be one of the most secure options for the rear of your home. Bifold Door Security Whilst many might think of wardrobe doors when they hear the word "Bifold," bifolding doors have actually become incredibly popular of late as conservatory doors or doors leading from your kitchen and/or living room into the garden. This is because they are aesthetically pleasing, bring a great deal of light and warmth into any room they 're attached to, and are energy efficient and space saving. However, many people also assume that they are magnets for thieves, which is not true at all. It might be true that thieves occasionally target conservatories, because they are often less secure or more poorly constructed than the rest of the house, but the doors themselves will have no impact on their decision, and bi–fold doors are generally a lot harder to break into than typical french doors or sliding doors. Many bifold doors will come with a multi–point locking system, as well as a hidden, inline tracking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 81. Rhetorical Analysis Of ' The Mystery ' Essay Watchmen Rhetorical Analysis With the admission of confidence and guilt from Veidt, to the explosion of psychic energy that destroys New York, the last two pages of chapter eleven of Watchmen are filled with "moving lines", moments in a work that are filled with meaning and emotion. In these two pages, the mystery that has fueled the plot of the graphic novel reaches an epic climax in which the themes and ideas within the work are simultaneously revealed and questioned. With deliberate structure, powerful imagery, and self–reference, Alan Moore literally and figuratively destroys motifs that he had built throughout the work to challenge the morality represented by Veidt and force the reader to question how right or wrong it is. Firstly, the structure of these pages reveals much toward the emotional impact. Usually cut into 3x3 frames with dialogue, these pages break the conventions that had been built through eleven issues. The first page is filled with three page–length rows, only one of which contains text. In the text, Ozymandias delivers a crippling line which emphasizes the pointlessness and helplessness of heroes that have been built up throughout the comic to be fighters and winners. The second row is the look of shock, with a gigantic doomsday clock in the background, imagery that has been used to the point of motif, once again emphasizing the inevitability of doom. Finally, the last row is that of innocent bystanders of the city of New York, characters in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
