Health is a social construct system and health inequality is the result from social dysfunction. Health
determinants are the combined factors that influence an individual or the community's' health such
as the social environment, economic environment and the individual characteristics and behaviours
(Germov, 2014). Firstly, the Marxist feminism will be discussed. This theory believes social
structure shapes the group's behaviours and perspectives. People who have a higher socioeconomic
status have better health. Secondly, the Marxist feminism theory is a structure based theory and

Social Class And Social System In The Elizabethan Era
Upper middle, middle and lower, these are the modern day classes Americans are familiar with. But
what many don't know is between 1558–1603, the Elizabethan Era, the same social class system was
already being used. The only difference was that they were more in depth. Although the social class
system is still in place today during the Elizabethan era it was used to place people in categories
based on their financial state, family history, and beliefs. The social classes of the Elizabethan era
were divided into three broad categories and subdivided into smaller specified groups. The broader
categories became known as estates ("Elizabethan Era"). There was the first, second and third estate.
The first estate consisted of clergy ("Social Order" 58). Although they were all Roman Catholic
clergy these people were broken up into smaller sections. The smaller sections divided the ordained

example of someone who would fall under this division was the pope. The second estate, was of the
nobility. The nobility included anyone who worked for or was a part of the royal family. Besides the

The American Social Security system is projected to help people with limited financial resources,
including the poor, the physically disabled, the mentally ill, and the elderly (Grabianowski 2015). It
was created in response to the pervasive poverty during the Great Depression to provide workers
with a basic level of income in retirement, as well as disability pay and life insurance while they
work (Kessler, 2014). In addition to providing benefits for workers, it also covers their dependents,
immediate family members, and even divorced spouses, at the time of serious accidents or illnesses

When the average MPC out of Social Security increases, the larger impact on the economy it will
have due to that income being circulated through the economy. Typically, those who have lower–
income will be more likely to spend more of their income than higher–income households. Also, we
see that generally those who receive Social Security to in fact have a lower income, and that money

supported intervention for the clients. Theory use if important in social work practice because it
prevents the clinician from making decisions on his or her own feelings and emotions, but rather
based on his or her own competency of research knowledge. Thus, referring to one's own experience
based emotions may not be beneficial to clients who have not had the same experiences. This is due
to the diverse client population that social workers encounter. Therefore, social worker's

There is no way to deny that a social class system exists that divides people by general popularity.
Once children begin school, they begin to separate into these divisions. The top of the social ladder,
often considered to be people who are cool, are stereotyped to be beautiful and happy. Although in
some cases this may be true, it is not always that way. Misconceptions about popularity lead to a
greater divide amongst the social classes, and cause those in the lower social levels to be considered

Entering the field of social work has opened my mind to different concepts and theories. In this
paper, I will explain my understanding of the systems theory, social constructionist perspective, as
well as conflict theory. I will also compare and contrast the social constructionist perspective (SCP)
and the conflict theory against the system theory.
Systems Theory
I have enjoyed learning about the origin of different theories, the evolution over time, and how we
incorporate them into present day. In America during the 1960's, social workers were drawn to the
concepts outlined in systems perspective theory and general systems theory. Through the 1960's and
1970's, these two theories were widely considered the dominant theoretical perspective (Hutchison,
E. D. (2017) outlining the framework to the field of social work. To help further understand the
functions of these perspectives, projects were completed by experts in the field of social work.
These ideas were accepted, and overtime social workers would reference material originated from
articles and research projects. For example; Austrian biologist, Karl Luwig von Bertalanffy is
considered one of the founders of general systems theory (GST) (Wikipedia)(2017). Luwing

One last theory which has impacted my clinical social work practice is systems theory which seeks
to understand how interrelated and interdependent parts work together to make up a whole system
(Langer, Lietz, & Ebooks, 2015). For clients in court–mandated treatment, multiple systems interact
