10 Habits Of Happy People
10 Habits of Happy People!
Do you know this? Somewhere within each of us, there exists a supreme self who is always at
eternal peace. This means, however difficult or dire your situation is, there always is a source in
your own self to derive solace from.
In other words, each one can and has to find his/her peace from within. This peace is real and cannot
be affected by outside circumstances.
Happiness results from the possession or attainment of what one considers good, the supreme of
which is peace.
It could also be said, while pleasure, which is broadly considered as happiness, is something derived
from outside, joy arises from within.
Happy people always carry peace with them. Peace makes your heart beautiful and in turn makes
your physical self beautiful too.
We shall now examine the 10 habits of Happy People.
1. Live in the present
The tested and accepted truth is, living one day at a time is the key to happiness.
When you procrastinate and put until tomorrow what you could have done today as well, you run
the risk of dying leaving a job undone.
The best day in a week, a month or a year is TODAY.
Happiness lies in enjoying a day's work and loving deadlines.
If you stand on an island of opportunities, but think another land is greener you are the loser. There
is no other land; there is no other life but this. There is no other day but today.
2. Thank Heavens for each second
What all you have right this second? Think not of what you have not; think what you have and

Trolls, Sexism And Women Online
While doing the presentation on the topic of trolls, sexism and women online, there are few learning
outcomes that are clearly being drawn. For this piece I will be exploring the example that used in the
presentation. I will begin with acts in the example and finished with discussing are there and moral
conflict between two sides of the voice.
The example we used in the presentation is Lushsux who is a boundary–pushing street artist drew
Hillary Clinton wearing swimsuit with stars–and–stripes print on a wall in Footscray West. He asked
for permission from the local business owner before he do the mural. After Lushsux publish the
mural on Instagram and people started to posting on Instagram and twitter, the mural was given an
additional of US dollar bills stuffed down. Later on, Lushsux's Instagram account was blocked and
local government started to said it is offensive to draw a "nearly–naked" women. Then Lushsux
paint her into a Muslim women and leave a message "If you do consider it offensive, you are a
sexist, racist, Islam phobic, xenophobic, uncultured and ignorant bigot." No matter how Lushsux
change the mural, the local council ask the shop owner to clear it up within 10 days. At the end, the
mural has to paint back into all black then problem is solved.
Originally, Lushsux just want to draw public awareness. When we look back in his painting, he
painted Donald Trump naked and there is no reaction from the local council and nobody gives
attention to it. But when it

Creating An Under The Sea Themed Room For My Baby
Creating an Under the Sea themed room for my baby was an exciting and rewarding experience. I
found inspiration almost everywhere I looked. I love the personalized room we created, and I know
that you can do it, too! Carpet and Paint When we bought our house, the baby 's room was the first
to get decorated. The carpet needed to be replaced anyway, so we chose a sand color. If we choose
to change the room later on, the carpet will still be neutral enough to compliment another theme. If
you have hardwood floors in the baby 's room, you can easily add a throw rug. Although you can
paint the walls blue and call it a day, my husband and I decided to really dedicate the underwater
room to it 's theme. We painted the ceiling and a few inches of the top of the walls light blue. Then
we painted the rest of the walls a darker shade of blue. Where the two met at the top, we painted a
wavy pattern. Remember, this doesn 't have to be perfect. After the paint dried and we applied a
second coat, it was time to add some embellishments. I painted big puffy clouds onto the ceiling. On
the walls we painted some plain green plants. If you are particularly artistic, you can paint fish right
into the scenes. We aren 't artistically inclined, so we found a way around that. Fabrics I headed
straight to the fabric store to find the perfect curtains and blankets. Although you can certainly hang
plain blue curtains up, we chose a flannel cloud print. The flannel was thick enough to filter some

Art : Art And Art
A painting is often our own depiction of what we see. To me, painting allows me to express my
beliefs and emotions, tell a story and challenge my society and myself. A world consisting of my
own ideas and thoughts. Throughout years of painting, I realized that their are specific techniques
for a successful artwork. The main Three I will be discussing are the Use of Space, Materials and
the function of the painting. In support of my argument I will be referring to two Artists I discovered
in my visit to the Tate Modern Museum. I will discuss Marlene Dumas, and compare a few of the
points to Wilhelm Sasnal's work, mentioning their own similar or different approaches to painting.
Marlene's work focuses around different aspects and is known to be proactive and controversial. Her
work focuses around Politics, sex, mental health, and death. One of her pieces titled "Stern"
represents a woman who is dead. We can notice the use of linear perspective and negative space.
The model is the common spot on the painting due to the size and the sharp edges whereas the
background is black, making the woman appear closer. The use of space is very important in this
piece creating a focal point, any objects in the background could cause a distraction. Illusion of form
is where the artist has specifically placed shadows on the features making them look realistic rather
than a 2D surface.
Majority of her work consists of really soft brushstrokes like (Magdalena 6, 1996) as she states " I'll

Georgia O'Keeffe Essay
Georgia O'Keeffe
"The meaning of a word – to me – is not as exact as the meaning of a color. Colors and shapes make
a more definite statement than words. I write this because such odd things have been done about me
with words. I have often been told what to paint. I am often amazed at the spoken and written word
telling me what I have painted. I make this effort because no one else can know how my paintings
happen. Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It is what I have done
with where I have been that should be of interest."
Georgia O'Keeffe
Georgia O'Keeffe is one of the most influential artists there is today. Her works are valued highly
and are quite beautiful and unique. As a prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The size of the bloom relative to a human really reflected the relative importance of nature and
mankind in the artist's eyes. Georgia O'Keeffe painted everything from lilies, jonquils, daisies, irises,
sweet peas, morning glories, poppies, forget–me–nots, marigolds, poinsettias, orchids, sunflowers,
petunias, marigolds, and many more were reborn in her paintings. O'Keeffe wasn't happy because
people looked at her paintings and tried to see them in the way of a female. She said, "Well––I made
you take time to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower you hung all
your own associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and
see what you think and see of the flower––and I don't." She did not like the idea that people thought
she painted the way she did because she was a female. She painted that way because that was how
she saw things. The flowers that she created epitomize her growth, success, magnetism, and energy
at that certain stage in her career. Her choice to paint these flowers was influenced by her early
training, natural attraction to flowers, and the idea of something fresh and fragile.
Close observations of O'Keeffe's flowers show that she never really pursued the realistic approach.
She didn't paint every petal and detail. Instead she gave her flowers a life of their own, and
expression that changed significantly

Residential Paintings
As a homeowner there is nothing more exciting than the idea of painting your home yourself. A
fresh coat of paint makes everything look so much better right? You can choose colors for the inside
or the outside and just get to work! Maybe you will even use a paint sprayer because they look like
they get the job done fast!
Are you out of your mind? Have you thought about the work involved, especially if you are
considering doing your own exterior painting? All of the scraping and cleaning that needs to be
done, the preparation for laying on a new coat of paint and the small repairs that are going to be
inevitable are going to be your job. If you have experience, and time then go ahead and jump right
in there and get that job done. If you don't have any experience it might be time to think about
painting services. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A reputable painting company should be able to provide these.
Find out if they are experienced with house painting. Residential painting is very different from
commercial. If you need interior painting, make sure to specify. Talk to people who have had similar
jobs done for them. This is a great way to find a good painting service.
Ask for what materials and paint they are using. Make sure everything is quality. Quality lasts
longer and always makes for a much better finished product no matter what the painters skill.
Ask about a warranty! These are worth the money as they often deal with touch ups and other paint
issues inside and outside of your home. This can save you a lot of stress in the future.
If you have any other concerns such as environmental friendliness then it is up to you to ask
pertinent questions. You are the customer, and you are inquiring about purchasing their services
which should be reputable and consistent. Ask for a list of the products they plan to use on your
home. If you do not like their selections, you can always supply your own

My Purpose Of Art
PAINTING
When you're afraid of making mistakes, but do so anyway... when you allow yourself time to fix
those mistakes–that is when you succeed.
I use art as a form of escape. At least, that was its initial purpose. It didn't matter that I wasn't good
(because I was, like, 5). Art made me happy and so I simply continued to make it. I took every art
course that my school allowed me to and the few years when they didn't offer one were torture for
my small self. Years later, with permission from my art instructor, I skipped an art course and took
AP Studio Art (a senior class) during my junior year. This was the first time that I had the freedom
to create whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. My artistry improved drastically alongside my
enthusiasm for learning new skills. I went from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics and
watercolors, drawing digitally, sculpting, and even making jewelry. It was like I discovered my
passion all over again. Art started to become something more to me, and soon I had dreams of
becoming an artist. However, it wasn't until I went to Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) over the
summer before my senior year that I truly grasped the struggle of becoming an artist. Throughout
my whole life, I only thought of art as a necessity; I needed it to stay calm, happy, and organized.
But in just three weeks, I realized that the fundamentals of art posed questions that, to me, were on
the scale of dinosaurs, aliens, Greek mythology, and even

Frederic Remington Research Paper
Frederic Remington's Bronco Buster
The art world has many major contributions. Frederic Remington's contribution was just as major as
any other popular artist. His many travels influenced all of his art, which mostly consisted of Native
American's and horses. When most people hear the name Remington, they think about the
Remington Rifle Company but Frederic Remington was an artist involved in the Impressionist
movement with his most famous sculpture Bronco Buster.
Frederic Remington was born in Canton, New York on October 4, 1861. His parents came from two
very different backgrounds. On the paternal side his family was hard working. Owning shops and
hardware stores when they arrived in the early 18th century from Alsace–Lorraine. His father ...

His drawings of 1800's military officers and of the Wild West are widely popular in today's culture.
He was a big contributor to the impressionist art movement. His watercolor paintings were
absolutely marvelous. Impressionism is a style of art in which artist's capture ideas in there head
with just a glimpse. They paint with lots of color and are very bright and vibrant. A majority of these
type of paintings are done outdoors. Remington was truly a genius when it came to his art styles.
Not only did he use impressionism but he also used tonalism. Tonalism is a style of art when artists
would paint landscape forms with very Earth toned colors. They were typically made with dark
natural hues such as blue, gray, or brown. Before Frederic's death in 1909 he started working with
bronze and started his sculpting phase of his career. The very first sculpture he made was the famed
"Bronco Buster." The original "Bronco Buster" was created in 1895. This sculpture was just barely
three feet tall. Many criticized Remington when he started the statute stating that the sculpture was
impossible to create. It was the first sculpture that had a horse on its hind legs. Many stated that
gravity would play a factor in his failure. They stated that when the bronze was cooling that it would
run and the statute wouldn't look correct. Well Remington decided he was going to prove them
wrong. While he was making the statue he realized where he could

Summary Of Mt. Hood, Oregon By Albert Bierstadt
Albert Bierstadt was a painter most remembered for his dramatic and large masterpieces that
focused on extreme color and contrast, especially with lighting. However, when it comes to his
painting, Mt. Hood, Oregon, he tends to defy those preconceived ideas. Painted in the early 1860's,
this painting is representative of Bierstadt's earlier artwork. He uses lighter brushstrokes, a brighter
and more monochromatic color palette, and is depicting a minimalist scene in its natural state
(Figure 1). The painting is currently displayed at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH, and
while it is frequently described as small it is larger than you think. Measuring at fifty–one inches by
sixty–one and a quarter inches leaves the Mt. Hood, Oregon painting seeming small compared to his
typical artworks. Due to the smaller size of the painting, one is lead to believe that he did not have
access to the supplies or the desire to create a masterpiece of such grand scale such as The Rocky
Mountains, one of his most notable pieces. Bierstadt painted Mt. Hood, Oregon by sketching the
location on a canvas and then painting it with oil paint. When analyzing the painting up close you
are able to see the level of transparency in the paint, resulting in sections of the canvas to shine
through the color (Figure 2 and 3). In order to achieve this look it is likely that Albert Bierstadt used
large amounts of turpentine to thin out the medium of oil paint, resulting in a transparent color.

Home Depot Research Paper
While not at the beach or on vacation, summer can be a great time to get a little work done around
the house. Whether you are improving property value or just making your house a home, there is a
lot to be done. When it comes to the nicer weather, most common improvements happen to the
exterior of the home. You can improve the interior at any time, but the exterior can only be done in
the right weather. This is the main reason that as soon as the snow melts, most people start to fix up
the outside. Not only does the spring weather make you want to be outside, but it also inspires many
of us to start fixing the things that others see. Since exterior appearances are important to many of us
and the fact that we value what others think about us, we put a lot into the exterior of our homes. ...

all time summer projects is a new deck or patio. When it gets to be summer time, people think of
barbeques and outdoor parties. Whether they are just family get–togethers or block parties with
friends, neighbors, or coworkers, these bring about the desire to build a bigger and better deck. This
is a fairly simple project that requires more time and effort than

Digging Deeper Into David Parrish’s Royal Chevy
David Parrish's painting "Royal Chevy" is an amazing work of art. Parrish father was brought up in
an orphanage and then sent to live with his uncle. After a while of living there he moved out and
joined the circus where he played tuba and rode motorcycles. There he met a woman and had a
baby. That baby was David Parrish, who was brought up to know that his father was just a banker in
Birmingham. After his father's death he found out about how his father's love for motorcycles. He
decided to do a painting that his father would had loved. This inspired him to do the painting "Royal
Chevy". Parrish studied at the University of Alabama and after all of his hard work he graduated
with a BFA. A little while later he went to New York City and decided he did not like the fast passed
life so he moved back to Alabama and settled in Huntsville, where he got a job as a technical
illustrator for NASA. He grew to learn how to use industrial and aeronautical machinery. In the
1970s, he began to use his expert draftsmanship in his artwork, painting heavily detailed images of
motorcycles. When you look at the painting "Royal Chevy" you see a motorcycle with the shocks on
the left side and the windshield in the center. When you actual look at it and examine the painting
you see many more details. In the painting you see an , a shock, ignition switch, a black gas tank
with red stripes, a yellow light cover, chrome handlebars, a foot rest, the number '81, the word
"Chevys," and a speedometer.

Summary Of Untitled By Gerald Dono
The painting of Untitled by Gerald Donato displayed in the Taubman Museum in Roanoke allures
attention by the chaotic combination of figural pieces and the collided whirlwind of vibrant yellows,
oranges, greens, and undertones of black. The background information shares that Gerald Donato
was a talented, beloved painter and teacher whose work anticipated references to important art–
historical developments. Ideological forces, such as familiar cartoon imagery, "Steamboat Willie",
and formally represented figures, are clearly influences in his work as his interest of hidden subject
matter is visually bursted on an oil canvas. He created a blended cartoon–like scene of abstraction
and figuration by incorporating a mysterious feminine figure "Moon face" and a recurring character
"Mr. Man" to embody a message of escaping from the spiral cage that represents the constraints in
life. Mr. Donato borrowed images from past history and radically transformed these elements
through his own blend of abstraction and figures to send a message about the conflict between
society and individuals.
The artist depicts an initial confusing and weirded–out thought for the viewer at first glance, but as
one deeply examines the art, the subject matter begins to become more clear. The vision being
shared in this non–objective painting has a context of placing one in the standing of Mr. Man by
gaining height and freedom from the (white) bars that are rising on each level that represent conflict
which traps one in a "cage" of misery. The unbalanced symmetry of having the left side take up
more space with little action, and the right side being smaller with the action unraveling, makes the
viewer break down each composite perspective. For the left side, the mysterious female muse,
Moon–Face, has an unproportional face that is almost blushing with shades of light pasty orange,
with the mouth wide open. The energetic mood is amplified by the tone of yellow that is splashed in
the mouth, representing a loss of words or at a state of disbelief. The female's lower half is created
with tints of red that enhances the curves on her body, as if chiaroscuro connects the light and dark
contrast to show outline of the breasts, stomach, and hips in

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Painter ' By John Ashbery
A majority of John Asbury's poems are about the process in which the mind of a person interacts
with the external surroundings. John Asbury has often tried to describe how the human mind
interacts with the natural world. In his poem "The Painter" the poet has also incorporate the diverse
aspect of nature which has been seen through the minds of a painter. Through this poem, the poet
has essentially tried to reach out and understand the deeper aspects of human emotions such as life,
love, loss, alienation, creation, inspiration, reality and perspective. The fact that John Asbury is an
ardent art critic, he is deeply involved and associated with the process of artistic creation and
appreciation which is more so reflected through his poem "The Painter" (Frye 208).
In the poem 'The Painter', the poet John Ashbery describes the artistic creativity in direct conflict
with the demands of today's society. In this poem he expressed how an artist wants to paint the sea
and bring forth a relation between the sea and the buildings of the city. The painter places himself
amidst the nature and the urban concrete jungle and as he expected his work to gain creativity, his
expectations got diminished as he was unable to capture reality of life through his art. He was thus
attempting to create something impossible and remains unsuccessful (Ford 112).
Ashbery considered this desire to be very simple as he compared his ambition to children's prayer.
His contrasts to the painter's expectation

The first thing you see when you get into the car, and the last thing you see when you get out.
Painting cars is an art, from stock to custom paint there is a lot of possibilities and techniques.

make sure to buff it and polish before you wash it.
When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are used
on a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of the car
is one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just two tones
you can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a pin strip so
that the colors don't look like to walls of color, the pin strip helps carry your eye without realizing
the strip is there.
When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the
color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you will
mask over it leaving the unsprayed area to view. Then you spray the next color of choice. Once the
last layer has dried take the paper off the panel and clear over the whole thing. If you plan to spray a
Strip in between you can must do this before clear coating the hole panel. Wood Grain is something
that was started a long time ago with wood grain cars. Painting wood grain is a good way to bring

Reflection Paper
Every year since I was I child, I have attended camp and was presented a new challenge to
accomplish there. One year for example, the challenge was to build a boat that wouldn't leak . The
only materials we were given were plastic sheets, duck tape, cardboard, and spray paint. My cabin
and I struggled at first as to how to build the boat. So my friend and I started thinking of a plan that
everyone would agree too. We would first tape over the gaps on the card board then for extra
protection we put three layers of the plastic inside and out and sealed it down with the duck tape.
Things were going well until we tested the boat in which it leaked and started sinking. My cabin
started arguing about whose fault it was for it not floating. After I broke up the argument, I
suggested we add more layers of plastic and more duct tape. After the repairs we made to the boat, it
was a success and ready to take to the lake for the competition. We ended up winning the
competition which brought great satisfaction to me knowing how hard I and the rest of my team had
worked . 7. What have you done to make your school or your community a better place? I enjoy
spending time helping at soup kitchens. It takes hours of preparation and hard work to get all the

but he's gone above and beyond and learned colors like silver and gold. If you're like to have things

While this may be true, if you lay old newspaper or an old tablecloth over the table, you don't need

Reflection of René Treviño's Exhibition, Axial Precessions
René Treviño was born in 1972 in Kingsville, Texas and currently lives and works in Baltimore,
Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, as
well as his Master in Fine Arts from the Maryland College of Art. He is currently represented by the
C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore, and had an exhibition from January 29, 2014–March 8, 2014
entitled Axial Precessions, hosted by the C. Grimaldis Gallery. The C. Grimaldis Gallery has a bit of
history standing behind it. It was established in 1977 by Consantine Grimaldis and is the longest
operating art gallery in the Baltimore City area. The gallery hosts exhibitions featuring American
and European artists and works from the Post World War II, contemporary, and modern eras. The
gallery has very high ceilings with white painted walls and pale wood flooring, allowing the artwork
to "speak for itself" on display and to limit distractions to the viewers. It's a very airy and
comfortable place to be in, and it takes on a beautiful aura when displaying René Treviño's artwork
in particular. The name Axial Precessions did not come right away to Treviño's mind as a name for
the collection, it instead came to him later on. The term itself refers to astrological bodies and their
rotation as caused by forces of gravity, and René felt it best described this series of paintings. The
collection on display features a series of paintings inspired by historical art, astrology, and patterns.

My Experience At High School
Growing up, my parents had given me everything that any child ever wanted; a good home, loving
parents, and lots of materialistic objects. I went to a private school, where on paper I looked very
involved. Though I was very active during my time in high school there was always a disconnect, an
empty feeling that I had within myself. Day in and day out I was just going through the motions of
life, not looking or hearing what God 's will was for me. That empty feeling I had would all change
when God put Fradwin in my life who had taught me a valuable lesson. Unknowingly, Fradwin
helped me understand the value of hard work and how to become grateful; two important lessons
that have been forever ingrained within my heart. My sophomore year in high school, God
compelled me to go on a two–week mission trip. Twenty kids, including me, would go to Jarabacoa
in the Dominican Republic to serve at a site of one 's choosing. During that mission 's trip, I decided
to serve at Genesis, a school for special education kids. I chose to serve at a special education site
because I believed that it would be easy because I hated working hard. That when I got to Genesis I
would play with the children for two weeks, then leave unchanged. Little did a know that at Genesis,
God would teach me an unforgettable lesson. Throughout the two weeks, I got the opportunity to
hear the stories of each volunteer at Genesis. The volunteers shared how God had been using them
to help these children learn

Painting The Exterior And Interior Of The House
Like Claude Monet, colours may or may not be your "daylong obsession," but as someone receptive
to the subtle tonal changes you are bound to feel the absence of the same in your surrounding most
acutely. For that simple reason, you cannot simply imagine living in a home devoid of colours.
Painting the exterior and interior of the house
To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the assistance of many
qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional painters in %{city} play a
significant role in improving the quality and liveability of the newly built structure you are about to
call home.
The necessity of painting the exterior of the house as well as the interior ones is driven by aesthetic
considerations. But that is not the only reason behind opting for professional wall painting. There
are several other benefits that we hardly take a note of. High quality exterior paint increases the life
of the masonry work. Your house becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature.
Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have considerable social and
cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St John's in Newfoundland and Labrador
or Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so common in other parts of the country. By their colourful
nature you can identify these cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre building in
middle of St John's and Lunenberg.

Sherwin-Williams Industry Analysis Essay
Introduction to Sherwin–Williams
Two young entrepreneurs and a lot of dedication and drive. That's how it all began. Henry Sherwin,
a native of Cleveland OH and graduate of Western Reserve College, weighed all of his career
options and decided to go into business for himself. He pulled all of his resources and bought a stake
in Truman, Dunham and Co, a firm that sold painter's pigments, linseed oil, colors, brushes and
other finishing and decorating products. Although this was not high on his list of choices, he saw
potential in the industry. It was the post civil war era and Cleveland was experiencing an economic
boom. His plan was to develop the market for paint and coatings to not only corporate America, but

Sherwin–Williams surpassed the $6 billion in sales for the first time in history. Three of their four
operating segments grew their sales and operating profits. Sherwin–Williams faced rising raw
material costs but still declared a 20 percent increase in quarterly dividends payable to shareholders
in 2004. In 2004, annualized yearly raw material costs for the industry increased more than any time
in the last decade. This resulted in pressure on their consolidated gross margin. Sherwin–Williams
has put forth efforts to offset raw material cost increases through manufacturing efficiencies, higher
fixed cost absorption, alternative technologies, tight expense control, and measured price increases.
There were an increased number of contractor sales and architectural paints along with related
supplies. An increase in Do–It–Yourself customers has also helped with strong sales growth. The
increase in the Do–It–Yourself market resulted in higher sales of paints, wood care products and
aerosol products. The services of professional painting contractors were in high demand, and those
customers shop at Sherwin–Williams paint stores. These customers continue to shop at the paint
stores because of Sherwin–Williams' quality products and services which have made their business
more successful. Net sales for their Paint Stores segment increased by 14.6 percent

I have been in the professional painting business for 10 years now, I am a 39–year–old female. I get

met my best friend. It was my freshman year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and we had to sign
up for an activity to do in the first few days of arrival to meet people. When I signed up the only
things left to choose from were ballroom dancing and acapella groups. Since I am an awful singer
and danced all of my childhood the decision was not too hard to make. When all the socially
awkward freshman gathered in the dance room we were instructed by a tango instructor with a very
appealing accent to find a partner. Since no one knew anyone else it was kind of like just pick the
closest person to you who were opposite gender. Little did I know that the person I was about to
learn how to tango with would become my best friend, Ruben. After we learned a lot of different
ballroom dancing with a bunch of different partners it was time to go back to our dorms. Ruben
came over to me and asked where I lived and we got to talking about everything under the sun and
from that day on I have ballroom dancing to thank for our friendship. The painting by Afremov has

Bottom paints and bottom paints for boats
Bottom paint is a covering applied to the lowermost point of a ship (hull) so as to get rid of growing
organisms that may attach to the boat especially at the lower parts or to protect the metallic parts of
the hull from corrosion. This is done to enhance the vessel's performance and sturdiness.
Another added advantage is the improved contact between a free flow mass of water and the hull of
a speedy boat enabling the boat to sail at a much faster speed.
Modern bottom paints are composed of biocides (chemical substance that hamper growth of marine
organisms), organotin compounds and lethal copper. Types of bottom paints SPC (Self polishing

Wash the hull surface carefully with a wax remover solvent and clean rags before you begin
sanding. Otherwise sanding a waxed hull only draws the wax into the scratches making it hard to
remove it. Stir By using a paint shaker, run it for a few minutes so as to distribute the copper and the
dye evenly throughout the paint. If you don't have it, decant half of the paint into a blending
container so that you can blend the remaining half thoroughly without spilling paint onto the ground.
Maintain scouring up the copper off the base of the container until the base feels clean. Mix in what
you poured off up to a point when the paint is standardized in color and evenness. Some areas won't
be protected if the copper is not well and evenly spread. Rolling the paint Revolve the bottom paint
on the hull using a roller cover. Extending the handle will make the job easier by keeping you clear
of small drops the roller will throw. Protect your body by wearing coats and gloves. Remember that
this paint contain chemicals which are highly fatal when they get absorbed by your body.
Load the basin of your paint dish with paint and begin the painting using your roller. Be quick
because many bottom paints dry fast. Every time you top up the paint dish, begin with mixing the
paint in the container so as to maintain the copper in suspension.
By the moment you are through, many bottom paints will be well dry to overcoat. It is also wise to

Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
In Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, a group of boys from ages 6 to 14 became stranded
on an island in a plane crash. They do not know how long they are going to be there or who is going
to rescue them. The boys have to figure out a way to survive until they are rescued. Symbolism is
used many different times throughout the novel. Symbolism is something that has a way to present
something else shown in either text or image. It fits into literature by giving symbols to show a
story. Throughout the story, the author mentions symbols such as the conch and the painted faces.
The reader can figure out what these symbols represent from clues given in the text. While reading
this novel, the reader will be able to tell that the conch plays a big role with the boys on the island.
Ralph who spots it in the lagoon first finds the conch. Ralph and Piggy are amazed and can already
tell how important the conch would be right when they first see it. The author describes the conch:
"In color the shell was deep cream, touched here and there with fading pink. Between the point,
worn away into a little hole, and the pink lips of the mouth, lay eighteen inches of shell with a slight
spiral twist and covered with a delicate, embossed pattern" (Golding 16). Since the author goes into
so much detail about the conch, the reader realizes it is a very important symbol. During the
beginning of the story, the boys have a vote and elect Ralph as the leader "Him with the shell.

Art Reflection
As soon as I walked into the Norton Simon Museum of Art, I was lost. The last time I had been
there was several years ago, and even then, I hadn't really paid enough attention to the art. I took a
quick glance through the large double doors leading to the sculpture garden, then went to get my
ticket. I sat down with a map for a short while, putting my thoughts together and figuring out which
way I would have to go, in order to find the time periods and art styles that I was looking for. I
walked in with a mindset that this trip would be quick, but I was proven wrong. I walked back and
forth between the rooms exhibiting 17th and 18th century art, but I couldn't seem to choose the
correct piece. Finally, I noticed a painting to my right that just flew off the page in my perspective.
As soon as I saw the royal blue tints, I knew that I had to study this painting, since blue is my
favorite color, and also because this painting was gorgeous. I walked up to the golden frame and
stared at this painting for a couple of minutes, noting all the important characteristics. The main
aspect that caught my eye was the use of dark colors, especially blues and greens, that should have
made the image look heavy and dark, but actually helped display a bright portrait. The softness of
the woman's face was illustrated so intensely, and it really convinced me to stop, sit down, and
analyze the portrait. I was looking at the Portrait of Theresa, Countess Kinsky, which was painted by

Sealcoating Research Paper
What's Involved When You Add A Sealcoat To Your Asphalt Driveway
Since your driveway is one of the first things people see when driving up to your house, you want to
keep it looking as nice as possible. If you neglect your driveway, it will develop cracks, stains, and
potholes that get worse over time. It's best to make repairs when the damage is in the early stages.
Also, you should consider sealcoating the asphalt every few years to protect it from damage and to
restore its dark color. You can hire a contractor to apply the sealcoat, but if your driveway is short
and in good shape, you may be able to do the job yourself. Here's what the process entails.
Inspection And Cleaning
The first step is to clean your entire driveway and inspect it for damage as you go. The easiest way
to get the asphalt clean is to use a pressure washer to drive out weeds ... Show more content on

A contactor may apply the sealcoat with a sprayer or other type of equipment, but if you apply the
sealcoating yourself, you'll apply it with a roller. You can buy the sealcoat material by the bucket at
a home improvement store. You apply it with a long–handled roller to your driveway in the same
way you would apply paint. You'll get the best coverage if you apply it in two thin layers, and let the
first layer dry thoroughly before you apply the second.
The new sealcoating has a dark color, so it covers all the repairs and imperfections on your old
driveway. Your driveway will look good as new once the new coating is applied. The effects should
last for several months. It depends on how much wear and tear your driveway gets, and how much
the sun and weather affects the surface. However, don't put off putting on a new sealcoat when your
driveway shows signs of wear. Once there is a lot of crumbling and alligator cracking along the
edges, your driveway not only looks bad, it may be too far gone for DIY

How To Repair Your Concrete Walkway So It's Safe And Attractive
The walkway to your front door should be kept in good condition so it doesn't ruin the appearance
of your home. Repairing cracks is important so no one trips and falls on your property. Falling on
concrete could break a bone or cause a head injury. You could even get sued for not maintaining
your walkway properly and creating a hazard. Here are a few tips for repairing cracks in your
concrete walkway and improving its appearance.
Fill In The Cracks
You can probably fill in small cracks yourself. Start by cleaning your walkway to get rid of sand and
dirt. Focus on getting debris and weeds out of all the cracks. You can buy concrete crack filler in a
squeeze container that's easy to use. Just squeeze the filler into the crack and scrape off the excess,
so the surface is level. Filling big cracks takes a little more work. To get the filler to adhere properly,
you'll need to widen the bottom of the crack. With the bottom wider than the top, the filler will be
trapped in place.
Use a pick and hammer to knock pieces of concrete loose from the bottom of the crack, being
careful not to make the top of the crack any wider. You may want to buy a bag ... Show more content

Call a concrete contractor to take a look and offer an opinion. Grinding the higher side of the crack
will make your walkway even again, and it is much less expensive than tearing out part of the
sidewalk and putting in new concrete. The contractor can grind away all raised portions of your
sidewalk so it is level and safe. The contractor can fill in the cracks and apply a coating on the
concrete to restore its appearance, or leave that job to you. Another time you may need to hire a
contractor is when your walkway has crumbling sides. Those need to be repaired by creating a

Art Reflection Paper
When I visited the Tampa Museum of Art, I walked around looking at all of the beautiful artwork on
display. I chose a piece that stuck out to me and reminded me of the carnivals and fairs I went to
growing up in my hometown with family. Choosing just one piece to write about was a difficult
decision, but I chose to write about Carrousels by Don Jacot. This piece was created with oil on
linen in 1992 and is 50x72'. I believe the subject matter of this piece has to do with childhood and
memories. I noticed in this piece that there were not many people on the rides or around the picture
at all. This interested me, so I decided to look at other artworks he has created and most of the others
are empty as well. I feel this has something to do with him having an empty childhood, but still has
the memories of him going out. He also tends to lean more towards using the brighter primary colors
such as red, blue, and yellow. I figured he chose these because a child would be more fascinated in
something bright and colorful instead of dull and plain. One of the formal elements that stood out to
me the most was color. I chose this because color is such a big aspect in this piece of work. Blue,
red, and yellow are the most used in this work and are brightly intensified. The vibrant colors caught
my eye right away when I saw the picture. The second formal element that is shown in this picture is
line. I feel this element goes with the picture because there are many geometrical shapes and lines
that direct you to certain aspects. One of the main eye–catching features is the Ferris wheel in the
background. The wheel catches the eye because all of the lines in the middle draw attention to it.
The tents on top of the rides in the back, the fence, and poles/bars on the ride are all very clean cut.
Overall the lines in the work lead your eye all around the composition of the piece. Another element
that I thought this picture has is shape. Shape is significant as well because the lines in the picture
form these figures. For example, the lines that are used on top of the ride tents form triangles, which
lead back to shape. This picture includes many geometrical forms all around the work such as the
rectangular benches, the

All Sealants Are Not Created Equal Case Study
When you have asphalt pavement, you must maintain it properly to make sure that it reaches its full
life expectancy. Sealcoating is a vital part of maintaining asphalt pavement; it can prolong the
pavement's life as well as improve its appearance. However, you might not be aware of the key
ingredients that go into a quality sealant and how they affect the results of the sealcoating job.
All Sealants Are Not Created Equal
Your sealcoating contractor can choose from a wide variety of sealants for your job. The options
include sealants of different quality levels that normally have different prices. If you want your
sealcoating to last, you want to make sure that your contractor chooses a sealant that is of sufficient
quality for the use to which your pavement will be subjected. Applying a sealant meant to support
only light pedestrian traffic to a busy parking lot is simply not going to yield the desired results. The

Never Overlook the Importance of Sand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sand makes an ideal aggregate for sealcoating and provides a number of benefits. Sand enhances
traction on the sealcoated pavement, enhancing safety for pedestrians as well as drivers. It also helps
with the appearance of the pavement; the sand will settle in hairline cracks or tiny imperfections to
improve the smoothness of the surface. Furthermore, sand helps the sealcoating form a tough, hard
film to provide better resistance to traffic, chemicals and sunlight. However, the amount of sand
included in the mix must be correct and it must have grains that are the right

How Can You Keep Your Garden?
Gardens are beautiful on their own, but some of us cannot avoid the inclination to accessorize. To
bring your garden to its full potential, you must develop its full aesthetic value. There 's numerous
little projects you can do by yourself or with the family, to add colorful and quirky visual interest
throughout the garden. Mobiles can be made from an array of materials. Since it will be hanging it
outside, make sure the material is waterproof. Foam is a smart choice because it is weather resistant,
malleable, and kid friendly. Foam sheets are very inexpensive and come in most colors. Some foam
comes in precut shapes. They even have foam letters. If the shape you want is available precut, it
will be easier than cutting yourself. Foam is difficult to cut to a smooth edge. Foam sheets often
come pre–glued. If your materials are not, you can use PVA glue or hot glue. You will need to glue
your shapes or light weight trinkets on your string or thread. You may want to consider
incorporating a picture. Foam picture frames are available in most art centers and you could
laminate the picture. This project has an abundance of creative potential. This can create single
strand color burst hanging around your garden. You can do themed pieces for different areas of the
garden. For instance, use bright colors and butterfly shapes to hang in the butterfly garden. Hanging
pieces are important because it keeps visual interest continuing from ground level to eye level.

10 Habits Of Happy People

  • 1. 10 Habits Of Happy People 10 Habits of Happy People! Do you know this? Somewhere within each of us, there exists a supreme self who is always at eternal peace. This means, however difficult or dire your situation is, there always is a source in your own self to derive solace from. In other words, each one can and has to find his/her peace from within. This peace is real and cannot be affected by outside circumstances. Happiness results from the possession or attainment of what one considers good, the supreme of which is peace. It could also be said, while pleasure, which is broadly considered as happiness, is something derived from outside, joy arises from within. Happy people always carry peace with them. Peace makes your heart beautiful and in turn makes your physical self beautiful too. We shall now examine the 10 habits of Happy People. 1. Live in the present The tested and accepted truth is, living one day at a time is the key to happiness. When you procrastinate and put until tomorrow what you could have done today as well, you run the risk of dying leaving a job undone. The best day in a week, a month or a year is TODAY. Happiness lies in enjoying a day's work and loving deadlines. If you stand on an island of opportunities, but think another land is greener you are the loser. There is no other land; there is no other life but this. There is no other day but today. 2. Thank Heavens for each second What all you have right this second? Think not of what you have not; think what you have and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Trolls, Sexism And Women Online While doing the presentation on the topic of trolls, sexism and women online, there are few learning outcomes that are clearly being drawn. For this piece I will be exploring the example that used in the presentation. I will begin with acts in the example and finished with discussing are there and moral conflict between two sides of the voice. The example we used in the presentation is Lushsux who is a boundary–pushing street artist drew Hillary Clinton wearing swimsuit with stars–and–stripes print on a wall in Footscray West. He asked for permission from the local business owner before he do the mural. After Lushsux publish the mural on Instagram and people started to posting on Instagram and twitter, the mural was given an additional of US dollar bills stuffed down. Later on, Lushsux's Instagram account was blocked and local government started to said it is offensive to draw a "nearly–naked" women. Then Lushsux paint her into a Muslim women and leave a message "If you do consider it offensive, you are a sexist, racist, Islam phobic, xenophobic, uncultured and ignorant bigot." No matter how Lushsux change the mural, the local council ask the shop owner to clear it up within 10 days. At the end, the mural has to paint back into all black then problem is solved. Originally, Lushsux just want to draw public awareness. When we look back in his painting, he painted Donald Trump naked and there is no reaction from the local council and nobody gives attention to it. But when it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Creating An Under The Sea Themed Room For My Baby Creating an Under the Sea themed room for my baby was an exciting and rewarding experience. I found inspiration almost everywhere I looked. I love the personalized room we created, and I know that you can do it, too! Carpet and Paint When we bought our house, the baby 's room was the first to get decorated. The carpet needed to be replaced anyway, so we chose a sand color. If we choose to change the room later on, the carpet will still be neutral enough to compliment another theme. If you have hardwood floors in the baby 's room, you can easily add a throw rug. Although you can paint the walls blue and call it a day, my husband and I decided to really dedicate the underwater room to it 's theme. We painted the ceiling and a few inches of the top of the walls light blue. Then we painted the rest of the walls a darker shade of blue. Where the two met at the top, we painted a wavy pattern. Remember, this doesn 't have to be perfect. After the paint dried and we applied a second coat, it was time to add some embellishments. I painted big puffy clouds onto the ceiling. On the walls we painted some plain green plants. If you are particularly artistic, you can paint fish right into the scenes. We aren 't artistically inclined, so we found a way around that. Fabrics I headed straight to the fabric store to find the perfect curtains and blankets. Although you can certainly hang plain blue curtains up, we chose a flannel cloud print. The flannel was thick enough to filter some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Art : Art And Art A painting is often our own depiction of what we see. To me, painting allows me to express my beliefs and emotions, tell a story and challenge my society and myself. A world consisting of my own ideas and thoughts. Throughout years of painting, I realized that their are specific techniques for a successful artwork. The main Three I will be discussing are the Use of Space, Materials and the function of the painting. In support of my argument I will be referring to two Artists I discovered in my visit to the Tate Modern Museum. I will discuss Marlene Dumas, and compare a few of the points to Wilhelm Sasnal's work, mentioning their own similar or different approaches to painting. Marlene's work focuses around different aspects and is known to be proactive and controversial. Her work focuses around Politics, sex, mental health, and death. One of her pieces titled "Stern" represents a woman who is dead. We can notice the use of linear perspective and negative space. The model is the common spot on the painting due to the size and the sharp edges whereas the background is black, making the woman appear closer. The use of space is very important in this piece creating a focal point, any objects in the background could cause a distraction. Illusion of form is where the artist has specifically placed shadows on the features making them look realistic rather than a 2D surface. Majority of her work consists of really soft brushstrokes like (Magdalena 6, 1996) as she states " I'll ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Georgia O'Keeffe Essay Georgia O'Keeffe "The meaning of a word – to me – is not as exact as the meaning of a color. Colors and shapes make a more definite statement than words. I write this because such odd things have been done about me with words. I have often been told what to paint. I am often amazed at the spoken and written word telling me what I have painted. I make this effort because no one else can know how my paintings happen. Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It is what I have done with where I have been that should be of interest." Georgia O'Keeffe Georgia O'Keeffe is one of the most influential artists there is today. Her works are valued highly and are quite beautiful and unique. As a prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The size of the bloom relative to a human really reflected the relative importance of nature and mankind in the artist's eyes. Georgia O'Keeffe painted everything from lilies, jonquils, daisies, irises, sweet peas, morning glories, poppies, forget–me–nots, marigolds, poinsettias, orchids, sunflowers, petunias, marigolds, and many more were reborn in her paintings. O'Keeffe wasn't happy because people looked at her paintings and tried to see them in the way of a female. She said, "Well––I made you take time to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower you hung all your own associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what you think and see of the flower––and I don't." She did not like the idea that people thought she painted the way she did because she was a female. She painted that way because that was how she saw things. The flowers that she created epitomize her growth, success, magnetism, and energy at that certain stage in her career. Her choice to paint these flowers was influenced by her early training, natural attraction to flowers, and the idea of something fresh and fragile. Close observations of O'Keeffe's flowers show that she never really pursued the realistic approach. She didn't paint every petal and detail. Instead she gave her flowers a life of their own, and expression that changed significantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Residential Paintings As a homeowner there is nothing more exciting than the idea of painting your home yourself. A fresh coat of paint makes everything look so much better right? You can choose colors for the inside or the outside and just get to work! Maybe you will even use a paint sprayer because they look like they get the job done fast! Are you out of your mind? Have you thought about the work involved, especially if you are considering doing your own exterior painting? All of the scraping and cleaning that needs to be done, the preparation for laying on a new coat of paint and the small repairs that are going to be inevitable are going to be your job. If you have experience, and time then go ahead and jump right in there and get that job done. If you don't have any experience it might be time to think about painting services. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A reputable painting company should be able to provide these. Find out if they are experienced with house painting. Residential painting is very different from commercial. If you need interior painting, make sure to specify. Talk to people who have had similar jobs done for them. This is a great way to find a good painting service. Ask for what materials and paint they are using. Make sure everything is quality. Quality lasts longer and always makes for a much better finished product no matter what the painters skill. Ask about a warranty! These are worth the money as they often deal with touch ups and other paint issues inside and outside of your home. This can save you a lot of stress in the future. If you have any other concerns such as environmental friendliness then it is up to you to ask pertinent questions. You are the customer, and you are inquiring about purchasing their services which should be reputable and consistent. Ask for a list of the products they plan to use on your home. • 25. My Purpose Of Art PAINTING When you're afraid of making mistakes, but do so anyway... when you allow yourself time to fix those mistakes–that is when you succeed. I use art as a form of escape. At least, that was its initial purpose. It didn't matter that I wasn't good (because I was, like, 5). Art made me happy and so I simply continued to make it. I took every art course that my school allowed me to and the few years when they didn't offer one were torture for my small self. Years later, with permission from my art instructor, I skipped an art course and took AP Studio Art (a senior class) during my junior year. This was the first time that I had the freedom to create whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. My artistry improved drastically alongside my enthusiasm for learning new skills. I went from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics and watercolors, drawing digitally, sculpting, and even making jewelry. It was like I discovered my passion all over again. Art started to become something more to me, and soon I had dreams of becoming an artist. However, it wasn't until I went to Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) over the summer before my senior year that I truly grasped the struggle of becoming an artist. Throughout my whole life, I only thought of art as a necessity; I needed it to stay calm, happy, and organized. But in just three weeks, I realized that the fundamentals of art posed questions that, to me, were on the scale of dinosaurs, aliens, Greek mythology, and even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Frederic Remington's contribution was just as major as any other popular artist. His many travels influenced all of his art, which mostly consisted of Native American's and horses. When most people hear the name Remington, they think about the Remington Rifle Company but Frederic Remington was an artist involved in the Impressionist movement with his most famous sculpture Bronco Buster. Frederic Remington was born in Canton, New York on October 4, 1861. His parents came from two very different backgrounds. On the paternal side his family was hard working. His drawings of 1800's military officers and of the Wild West are widely popular in today's culture. He was a big contributor to the impressionist art movement. His watercolor paintings were absolutely marvelous. Impressionism is a style of art in which artist's capture ideas in there head with just a glimpse. They paint with lots of color and are very bright and vibrant. A majority of these type of paintings are done outdoors. Remington was truly a genius when it came to his art styles. Not only did he use impressionism but he also used tonalism. Tonalism is a style of art when artists would paint landscape forms with very Earth toned colors. They were typically made with dark natural hues such as blue, gray, or brown. Before Frederic's death in 1909 he started working with bronze and started his sculpting phase of his career. The very first sculpture he made was the famed "Bronco Buster." The original "Bronco Buster" was created in 1895. This sculpture was just barely three feet tall. Many criticized Remington when he started the statute stating that the sculpture was impossible to create. It was the first sculpture that had a horse on its hind legs. Many stated that gravity would play a factor in his failure. They stated that when the bronze was cooling that it would run and the statute wouldn't look correct. Well Remington decided he was going to prove them wrong. While he was making the statue he realized where he could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Summary Of Mt. Hood, Oregon By Albert Bierstadt Albert Bierstadt was a painter most remembered for his dramatic and large masterpieces that focused on extreme color and contrast, especially with lighting. However, when it comes to his painting, Mt. Hood, Oregon, he tends to defy those preconceived ideas. Painted in the early 1860's, this painting is representative of Bierstadt's earlier artwork. He uses lighter brushstrokes, a brighter and more monochromatic color palette, and is depicting a minimalist scene in its natural state (Figure 1). The painting is currently displayed at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH, and while it is frequently described as small it is larger than you think. Measuring at fifty–one inches by sixty–one and a quarter inches leaves the Mt. Hood, Oregon painting seeming small compared to his typical artworks. Due to the smaller size of the painting, one is lead to believe that he did not have access to the supplies or the desire to create a masterpiece of such grand scale such as The Rocky Mountains, one of his most notable pieces. Bierstadt painted Mt. Hood, Oregon by sketching the location on a canvas and then painting it with oil paint. When analyzing the painting up close you are able to see the level of transparency in the paint, resulting in sections of the canvas to shine through the color (Figure 2 and 3). In order to achieve this look it is likely that Albert Bierstadt used large amounts of turpentine to thin out the medium of oil paint, resulting in a transparent color. ... • 49. Digging Deeper Into David Parrish’s Royal Chevy David Parrish's painting "Royal Chevy" is an amazing work of art. Parrish father was brought up in an orphanage and then sent to live with his uncle. After a while of living there he moved out and joined the circus where he played tuba and rode motorcycles. There he met a woman and had a baby. That baby was David Parrish, who was brought up to know that his father was just a banker in Birmingham. After his father's death he found out about how his father's love for motorcycles. He decided to do a painting that his father would had loved. This inspired him to do the painting "Royal Chevy". Parrish studied at the University of Alabama and after all of his hard work he graduated with a BFA. A little while later he went to New York City and decided he did not like the fast passed life so he moved back to Alabama and settled in Huntsville, where he got a job as a technical illustrator for NASA. He grew to learn how to use industrial and aeronautical machinery. In the 1970s, he began to use his expert draftsmanship in his artwork, painting heavily detailed images of motorcycles. When you look at the painting "Royal Chevy" you see a motorcycle with the shocks on the left side and the windshield in the center. When you actual look at it and examine the painting you see many more details. • 53. Summary Of Untitled By Gerald Dono The painting of Untitled by Gerald Donato displayed in the Taubman Museum in Roanoke allures attention by the chaotic combination of figural pieces and the collided whirlwind of vibrant yellows, oranges, greens, and undertones of black. The background information shares that Gerald Donato was a talented, beloved painter and teacher whose work anticipated references to important art– historical developments. Ideological forces, such as familiar cartoon imagery, "Steamboat Willie", and formally represented figures, are clearly influences in his work as his interest of hidden subject matter is visually bursted on an oil canvas. He created a blended cartoon–like scene of abstraction and figuration by incorporating a mysterious feminine figure "Moon face" and a recurring character "Mr. Man" to embody a message of escaping from the spiral cage that represents the constraints in life. Mr. Donato borrowed images from past history and radically transformed these elements through his own blend of abstraction and figures to send a message about the conflict between society and individuals. The artist depicts an initial confusing and weirded–out thought for the viewer at first glance, but as one deeply examines the art, the subject matter begins to become more clear. The vision being shared in this non–objective painting has a context of placing one in the standing of Mr. Man by gaining height and freedom from the (white) bars that are rising on each level that represent conflict which traps one in a "cage" of misery. The unbalanced symmetry of having the left side take up more space with little action, and the right side being smaller with the action unraveling, makes the viewer break down each composite perspective. For the left side, the mysterious female muse, Moon–Face, has an unproportional face that is almost blushing with shades of light pasty orange, with the mouth wide open. The energetic mood is amplified by the tone of yellow that is splashed in the mouth, representing a loss of words or at a state of disbelief. The female's lower half is created with tints of red that enhances the curves on her body, as if chiaroscuro connects the light and dark contrast to show outline of the breasts, stomach, and hips in ... • 57. Analysis Of The Poem ' The Painter ' By John Ashbery A majority of John Asbury's poems are about the process in which the mind of a person interacts with the external surroundings. John Asbury has often tried to describe how the human mind interacts with the natural world. In his poem "The Painter" the poet has also incorporate the diverse aspect of nature which has been seen through the minds of a painter. Through this poem, the poet has essentially tried to reach out and understand the deeper aspects of human emotions such as life, love, loss, alienation, creation, inspiration, reality and perspective. The fact that John Asbury is an ardent art critic, he is deeply involved and associated with the process of artistic creation and appreciation which is more so reflected through his poem "The Painter" (Frye 208). In the poem 'The Painter', the poet John Ashbery describes the artistic creativity in direct conflict with the demands of today's society. In this poem he expressed how an artist wants to paint the sea and bring forth a relation between the sea and the buildings of the city. The painter places himself amidst the nature and the urban concrete jungle and as he expected his work to gain creativity, his expectations got diminished as he was unable to capture reality of life through his art. He was thus attempting to create something impossible and remains unsuccessful (Ford 112). Ashbery considered this desire to be very simple as he compared his ambition to children's prayer. One year for example, the challenge was to build a boat that wouldn't leak . The only materials we were given were plastic sheets, duck tape, cardboard, and spray paint. My cabin and I struggled at first as to how to build the boat. So my friend and I started thinking of a plan that everyone would agree too. We would first tape over the gaps on the card board then for extra protection we put three layers of the plastic inside and out and sealed it down with the duck tape. Things were going well until we tested the boat in which it leaked and started sinking. My cabin started arguing about whose fault it was for it not floating. After I broke up the argument, I suggested we add more layers of plastic and more duct tape. After the repairs we made to the boat, it was a success and ready to take to the lake for the competition. We ended up winning the competition which brought great satisfaction to me knowing how hard I and the rest of my team had worked . 7. Your house becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature. Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have considerable social and cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St John's in Newfoundland and Labrador or Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so common in other parts of the country. By their colourful nature you can identify these cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre building in middle of St John's and Lunenberg. Right shades tend to ... • 110. Sherwin-Williams Industry Analysis Essay Introduction to Sherwin–Williams Two young entrepreneurs and a lot of dedication and drive. That's how it all began. Henry Sherwin, a native of Cleveland OH and graduate of Western Reserve College, weighed all of his career options and decided to go into business for himself. He pulled all of his resources and bought a stake in Truman, Dunham and Co, a firm that sold painter's pigments, linseed oil, colors, brushes and other finishing and decorating products. Although this was not high on his list of choices, he saw potential in the industry. It was the post civil war era and Cleveland was experiencing an economic boom. His plan was to develop the market for paint and coatings to not only corporate America, but to the untapped consumer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sherwin–Williams surpassed the $6 billion in sales for the first time in history. Three of their four operating segments grew their sales and operating profits. Sherwin–Williams faced rising raw material costs but still declared a 20 percent increase in quarterly dividends payable to shareholders in 2004. In 2004, annualized yearly raw material costs for the industry increased more than any time in the last decade. This resulted in pressure on their consolidated gross margin. Sherwin–Williams has put forth efforts to offset raw material cost increases through manufacturing efficiencies, higher fixed cost absorption, alternative technologies, tight expense control, and measured price increases. There were an increased number of contractor sales and architectural paints along with related supplies. An increase in Do–It–Yourself customers has also helped with strong sales growth. The increase in the Do–It–Yourself market resulted in higher sales of paints, wood care products and aerosol products. The services of professional painting contractors were in high demand, and those customers shop at Sherwin–Williams paint stores. These customers continue to shop at the paint stores because of Sherwin–Williams' quality products and services which have made their business more successful. • 114. Female Painting Research Paper I have been in the professional painting business for 10 years now, I am a 39–year–old female. I get a lot of questions and odd looks when they see a female painter, but after they see my work, I get a lot of comments. The comments are usually geared towards how great of a job I do and how neat my painting is, compared to other painters they have hired, in many cases I had to correct other painters work or finish what they started. I have worked with many male painters and only a couple of female painters, but I find there are more and more females getting into the painting business. I find painting very relaxing and I love seeing the end results. I started working for a small company 10 years ago when I was offered a job to try painting. You will learn what works best for you and what doesn't along the way. I grabbed 2 putty knives, one smaller one and a larger one for the bigger holes and a plastering hand tool for the mud. I grabbed a pack of sand sponges as well to sand the patches. I definitely needed the poly filla especially for little nails holes and on new trim and baseboard where they haven't filled the nail holes. You would be surprised at how many carpenters do not fill the nail holes after installing trim or baseboard, I think I came across 2 that did in the 10 years of painting. Next would be the extended painter's pole, now they have different sizes. I bought one 4 ft extender and one 6 ft. • 118. The Tango Of Movement Piece This is Leonid Afremov's Tango of Movement piece. When I was deciding what piece to use for this project I googled artists with unique techniques of paintings, and came across Leonid Afremov's work. I had such a hard time choosing just one piece because his paintings are all wonderful and full of color and life. I ultimately chose the Tango of Movement piece because it reminded me of when I met my best friend. It was my freshman year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and we had to sign up for an activity to do in the first few days of arrival to meet people. When I signed up the only things left to choose from were ballroom dancing and acapella groups. Since I am an awful singer and danced all of my childhood the decision was not too hard to make. When all the socially awkward freshman gathered in the dance room we were instructed by a tango instructor with a very appealing accent to find a partner. Since no one knew anyone else it was kind of like just pick the closest person to you who were opposite gender. Little did I know that the person I was about to learn how to tango with would become my best friend, Ruben. After we learned a lot of different ballroom dancing with a bunch of different partners it was time to go back to our dorms. Ruben came over to me and asked where I lived and we got to talking about everything under the sun and from that day on I have ballroom dancing to thank for our friendship. The painting by Afremov has such detail and vibrant colors. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Paints Bottom paints and bottom paints for boats Bottom paint is a covering applied to the lowermost point of a ship (hull) so as to get rid of growing organisms that may attach to the boat especially at the lower parts or to protect the metallic parts of the hull from corrosion. This is done to enhance the vessel's performance and sturdiness. Another added advantage is the improved contact between a free flow mass of water and the hull of a speedy boat enabling the boat to sail at a much faster speed. Modern bottom paints are composed of biocides (chemical substance that hamper growth of marine organisms), organotin compounds and lethal copper. Types of bottom paints SPC (Self polishing copolymers). It contains a resin known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wash the hull surface carefully with a wax remover solvent and clean rags before you begin sanding. Otherwise sanding a waxed hull only draws the wax into the scratches making it hard to remove it. Stir By using a paint shaker, run it for a few minutes so as to distribute the copper and the dye evenly throughout the paint. If you don't have it, decant half of the paint into a blending container so that you can blend the remaining half thoroughly without spilling paint onto the ground. Maintain scouring up the copper off the base of the container until the base feels clean. Mix in what you poured off up to a point when the paint is standardized in color and evenness. Some areas won't be protected if the copper is not well and evenly spread. Rolling the paint Revolve the bottom paint on the hull using a roller cover. Extending the handle will make the job easier by keeping you clear of small drops the roller will throw. Protect your body by wearing coats and gloves. Remember that this paint contain chemicals which are highly fatal when they get absorbed by your body. Load the basin of your paint dish with paint and begin the painting using your roller. Be quick because many bottom paints dry fast. Every time you top up the paint dish, begin with mixing the paint in the container so as to maintain the copper in suspension. By the moment you are through, many bottom paints will be well dry to overcoat. It is also wise to look at the specifications on the type ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 126. Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding In Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, a group of boys from ages 6 to 14 became stranded on an island in a plane crash. They do not know how long they are going to be there or who is going to rescue them. The boys have to figure out a way to survive until they are rescued. Symbolism is used many different times throughout the novel. Symbolism is something that has a way to present something else shown in either text or image. It fits into literature by giving symbols to show a story. Throughout the story, the author mentions symbols such as the conch and the painted faces. The reader can figure out what these symbols represent from clues given in the text. While reading this novel, the reader will be able to tell that the conch plays a big role with the boys on the island. Ralph who spots it in the lagoon first finds the conch. Ralph and Piggy are amazed and can already tell how important the conch would be right when they first see it. The author describes the conch: "In color the shell was deep cream, touched here and there with fading pink. Between the point, worn away into a little hole, and the pink lips of the mouth, lay eighteen inches of shell with a slight spiral twist and covered with a delicate, embossed pattern" (Golding 16). Since the author goes into so much detail about the conch, the reader realizes it is a very important symbol. The last time I had been there was several years ago, and even then, I hadn't really paid enough attention to the art. I took a quick glance through the large double doors leading to the sculpture garden, then went to get my ticket. I sat down with a map for a short while, putting my thoughts together and figuring out which way I would have to go, in order to find the time periods and art styles that I was looking for. I walked in with a mindset that this trip would be quick, but I was proven wrong. I walked back and forth between the rooms exhibiting 17th and 18th century art, but I couldn't seem to choose the correct piece. Finally, I noticed a painting to my right that just flew off the page in my perspective. As soon as I saw the royal blue tints, I knew that I had to study this painting, since blue is my favorite color, and also because this painting was gorgeous. I walked up to the golden frame and stared at this painting for a couple of minutes, noting all the important characteristics. The main aspect that caught my eye was the use of dark colors, especially blues and greens, that should have made the image look heavy and dark, but actually helped display a bright portrait. The softness of the woman's face was illustrated so intensely, and it really convinced me to stop, sit down, and analyze the portrait. • 134. Sealcoating Research Paper What's Involved When You Add A Sealcoat To Your Asphalt Driveway Since your driveway is one of the first things people see when driving up to your house, you want to keep it looking as nice as possible. If you neglect your driveway, it will develop cracks, stains, and potholes that get worse over time. It's best to make repairs when the damage is in the early stages. Also, you should consider sealcoating the asphalt every few years to protect it from damage and to restore its dark color. You can hire a contractor to apply the sealcoat, but if your driveway is short and in good shape, you may be able to do the job yourself. Here's what the process entails. Inspection And Cleaning The first step is to clean your entire driveway and inspect it for damage as you go. The easiest way to get the asphalt clean is to use a pressure washer to drive out weeds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A contactor may apply the sealcoat with a sprayer or other type of equipment, but if you apply the sealcoating yourself, you'll apply it with a roller. You can buy the sealcoat material by the bucket at a home improvement store. You apply it with a long–handled roller to your driveway in the same way you would apply paint. You'll get the best coverage if you apply it in two thin layers, and let the first layer dry thoroughly before you apply the second. The new sealcoating has a dark color, so it covers all the repairs and imperfections on your old driveway. Your driveway will look good as new once the new coating is applied. The effects should last for several months. It depends on how much wear and tear your driveway gets, and how much the sun and weather affects the surface. However, don't put off putting on a new sealcoat when your driveway shows signs of wear. Once there is a lot of crumbling and alligator cracking along the edges, your driveway not only looks bad, it may be too far gone for DIY ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 138. Concrete Bridge Research Paper How To Repair Your Concrete Walkway So It's Safe And Attractive The walkway to your front door should be kept in good condition so it doesn't ruin the appearance of your home. Repairing cracks is important so no one trips and falls on your property. Falling on concrete could break a bone or cause a head injury. You could even get sued for not maintaining your walkway properly and creating a hazard. Here are a few tips for repairing cracks in your concrete walkway and improving its appearance. Fill In The Cracks You can probably fill in small cracks yourself. Start by cleaning your walkway to get rid of sand and dirt. Focus on getting debris and weeds out of all the cracks. You can buy concrete crack filler in a squeeze container that's easy to use. Just squeeze the filler into the crack and scrape off the excess, so the surface is level. Filling big cracks takes a little more work. To get the filler to adhere properly, you'll need to widen the bottom of the crack. With the bottom wider than the top, the filler will be trapped in place. Use a pick and hammer to knock pieces of concrete loose from the bottom of the crack, being careful not to make the top of the crack any wider. You may want to buy a bag ... The contractor can fill in the cracks and apply a coating on the concrete to restore its appearance, or leave that job to you. Another time you may need to hire a contractor is when your walkway has crumbling sides. Those need to be repaired by creating a wooden frame along the walkway and then filling it in with ... • 147. Art Reflection Paper When I visited the Tampa Museum of Art, I walked around looking at all of the beautiful artwork on display. I chose a piece that stuck out to me and reminded me of the carnivals and fairs I went to growing up in my hometown with family. Choosing just one piece to write about was a difficult decision, but I chose to write about Carrousels by Don Jacot. This piece was created with oil on linen in 1992 and is 50x72'. I believe the subject matter of this piece has to do with childhood and memories. I noticed in this piece that there were not many people on the rides or around the picture at all. This interested me, so I decided to look at other artworks he has created and most of the others are empty as well. I feel this has something to do with him having an empty childhood, but still has the memories of him going out. He also tends to lean more towards using the brighter primary colors such as red, blue, and yellow. I figured he chose these because a child would be more fascinated in something bright and colorful instead of dull and plain. One of the formal elements that stood out to me the most was color. I chose this because color is such a big aspect in this piece of work. Blue, red, and yellow are the most used in this work and are brightly intensified. The vibrant colors caught my eye right away when I saw the picture. The second formal element that is shown in this picture is line. I feel this element goes with the picture because there are many geometrical shapes and lines that direct you to certain aspects. One of the main eye–catching features is the Ferris wheel in the background. The wheel catches the eye because all of the lines in the middle draw attention to it. The tents on top of the rides in the back, the fence, and poles/bars on the ride are all very clean cut. Overall the lines in the work lead your eye all around the composition of the piece. Another element that I thought this picture has is shape. Shape is significant as well because the lines in the picture form these figures. For example, the lines that are used on top of the ride tents form triangles, which lead back to shape. This picture includes many geometrical forms all around the work such as the rectangular benches, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sealcoating is a vital part of maintaining asphalt pavement; it can prolong the pavement's life as well as improve its appearance. However, you might not be aware of the key ingredients that go into a quality sealant and how they affect the results of the sealcoating job. All Sealants Are Not Created Equal Your sealcoating contractor can choose from a wide variety of sealants for your job. The options include sealants of different quality levels that normally have different prices. If you want your sealcoating to last, you want to make sure that your contractor chooses a sealant that is of sufficient quality for the use to which your pavement will be subjected. Applying a sealant meant to support only light pedestrian traffic to a busy parking lot is simply not going to yield the desired results. The sealcoating will disintegrate quickly, meaning that your pavement will no longer have the protection you need. Never Overlook the Importance of Sand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sand makes an ideal aggregate for sealcoating and provides a number of benefits. Sand enhances traction on the sealcoated pavement, enhancing safety for pedestrians as well as drivers. To bring your garden to its full potential, you must develop its full aesthetic value. There 's numerous little projects you can do by yourself or with the family, to add colorful and quirky visual interest throughout the garden. Mobiles can be made from an array of materials. Since it will be hanging it outside, make sure the material is waterproof. Foam is a smart choice because it is weather resistant, malleable, and kid friendly. Foam sheets are very inexpensive and come in most colors. Some foam comes in precut shapes. They even have foam letters. If the shape you want is available precut, it will be easier than cutting yourself. Foam is difficult to cut to a smooth edge. Foam sheets often come pre–glued. If your materials are not, you can use PVA glue or hot glue. You will need to glue your shapes or light weight trinkets on your string or thread. You may want to consider incorporating a picture.
