1. Target audience profile: Music magazines
The gender of ‘smash’ is females who are between the ages of 16 and 25 years old. I
have chosen this age bracket as it is more relevant to me. I listen to the type of
music my magazine is and this is what inspired me to choose this genre of music. My
target audience are student studying in college or university, they are unemployed
however some may have a weekend job but their first priority is their studies to get
some good qualifications.
My target audience have a very fun, light personality, they enjoy having a laugh
with their friends but when something bad happens or someone is horrible towards
them they take it to heart. They enjoy socialising with friends and listen to a lot of
music. My TA usually collect the posters in ‘Smash’ and put them all around their
bedroom on the walls. The readers of my magazine enjoy spending their leisure time
talking to friends and catching up on coursework. They always make sure they get
the latest issue of ‘Smash.’ The genre of my magazine is rock music, my target
audience enjoy rock and indie rock styled music because it I different and ‘Smash’
fulfils their needs to be up to date with music charts and gigs.
As society is very internet and socially based my target audience enjoy using the
internet. Here they use youtube to watch music videos of their favourite bands. They
also use social network sites, facebook, twitter and tumblr. They enjoy going to the
cinema to watch films, mainly horrors. They also read Kerrang magazine to read
about the male rock artists however this is not as regular as they buy ‘Smash.’
My readers would use my magazine to read about all their favourite artists and
bands. They would use this to find out the top charts of music as teens often have
the latest music on their mobile phones and iPods’. My reader is very down to earth
and takes every day as it comes therefore their values in life are to live every day as
its their last.
