Case Study Texas Gulf Seawater
To the City Planners of Hidalgo County, TX, Our name is Team Ramrod. We are an efficient, dedicated and goal oriented team comprised of three
engineers, two Chemical and one Biochemical, all having received diplomas from the Colorado School of Mines. Recently we were assigned the
task of designing a cost and energy efficient manner with which to provide the residents of your community with clean, usable, even drinkable
water. Prior to commencing the project, we have some questions and concerns we wish to address with you so that we may better be able to serve
you and your residents in designing this project. You have expressed interest in exploring the possibilities of using brackish water from several
geothermal wells located within 10 miles of the city, as well as exploring the idea of using Texas Gulf seawater as resources for this project. As a
team, we agree these sources of water show great potential in helping us design a solution to this problem. Currently, we are exploring the feasibility of
efficiently transporting water from these sources to Hidalgo County and using water treatment plants to provide clean and useable water for the
residents. With the consideration of feasibility as well as practicality, we have several topics pertinent to the design of this project that must be
addressed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is extremely important because if the design is not economically feasible there really exists no way by which that design can be made concrete.
Next, we have several points relating to the water needs of the community. These include but are not limited

Teenage Driving Age
Furthermore, teens that are getting their license are doing it for a reason, most of them need that license to help with their lives. Everyday having
something to do after school, teens need to get around town in their car. Almost everyone by this age has a job after school or at some point has had a
job. They can't ask their parents to take them to work, because again most of them have jobs that work well into the night, so they need a means of
transportation which is why they want a license. "Teens practice driving for many hours. Need to drive to get to part–time jobs and to do tasks like
grocery shopping."(Driving Age). Once you get your license you can get a job for yourself since you can drive their now. It's one of the top reasons
for getting a license which is their part time job and getting task done for their parents. And it's not just getting to their job that they need a car for,
more importantly they need it for school. Magnet or ib students can take 30–minute–long car drives just to reach school, they can't take the bus because
that's just way out of their jurisdiction. Many of them do drive cars', which help them to get to school every day. Even Maine which "has protested
the idea of raising the driving age because teens need to drive and help with chores" (Driving for teens only?). Maine is furthermore one of the states
that have a graduating license, which shows how great of an example this state is when it comes to teen driving. Many other states need to

Choosing the right dealer (or contractor) often does. When you work with a well–known local replacement dealer, like Renewal by Andersen, you can
be certain there won't be any surprises down the road. We only allow fully–trained, professional technicians to install our replacement windows. And,
because we manufacture every window to perfectly fit the hole left by your old windows, you won't have the hassles that come with extra construction
to make them fit.
The test for deciding if you do need a permit for replacement windows and other home improvement projects is whether you are going to make
structural changes or not. If you are replacing your existing patio door because you plan to upgrade from a sliding door to a swing–out style that will
complement your brand new deck, you may need a permit to build, or enlarge the deck. Replacement Patio Door – no permit needed. Adding a deck or
sun room – permits required.

Stationary Monitoring Traffic On Main Street Essay
On 06/29/2015 I was stationary monitoring traffic on Main Street (SR 924). At approximately 2135 hours I observed a green Ford Ranger pick–up
truck travelling southbound. The vehicle was travelling at forty (40) miles per hour in a clearly and properly posted twenty–five (25) mile per hour
zone. I exited the designated area, activated my emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on State Route 924 near Furnace Street.
I exited the patrol vehicle and approached the driver who was observed reaching toward the door panel. I questioned him about what he was
reaching for and he replied he was rolling his window down. I asked if he had anything in the vehicle where he was reaching and he stated he did not
and told me to check the vehicle. The males hands were shaken vigorously and his face was sweaty.
I requested the operator 's license, registration and insurance card. The operator supplied me with the information and he was then identified through a
Pennsylvania driver 's license photo as Dennis Dale MILLER from here on known as the defendant. I proceeded back to the patrol vehicle to check the
status on the defendant 's license and the vehicle. During this time it was learned the defendant had an active warrant out of Schuylkill County for
failing to appear for a criminal case.
I approached the driver and requested him to exit the vehicle. I informed him of the warrant and he was detained, waiting for a response to see if they
wanted him placed in the prison.

Is there a way I can get my driver's license reinstated after getting convicted for Driving Under the Influence (DUI)?
DUI #1 – From the effective date of the conviction, your revocation will last anywhere from 180 days up to one year. If there were serious injuries
accompanying your first DUI offense, the revocation will be a minimum of 3–years. Prior to the revocation period being expired, you can make an

DUI #2 – If your second DUI violation is more than 5 years from the first conviction, your driver's license will be revoked for 180 days minimum up

Mandatory Driving Laws And Legislation For Teenagers
"In 2011, about 2,650 teenagers in the United States aged sixteen to nineteen were killed and almost 292,000 were treated in emergency departments
for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That means that seven teenagers' ages sixteen to nineteen died every day from motor vehicle related
injuries" (Teenage 1). Teenagedriving has become an increasingly controversial topic over the past ten years. Many adults and politicians are fighting
for tougher driving laws and legislation for teenagers. While soon–to–be teenage drivers, along with current teenage drivers and busy parents argue that
things are fine just the way they are. But, when the leading cause of death among teenagers in the nation is traffic accidents, things cannot be
considered "fine". It is obvious that there is a need for change and something must be done to save the lives of teenagers throughout the United States.
In an effort to lessen the number of traffic injuries and deaths among teenage drivers, states need to adopt a Graduated Driver Licensing Program
(GDL), which encompasses night–time driving, passenger limitation, cell phone use, seat belt use, a minimum holding period, and a minimum amount
of supervised driving hours. In the area of safety issues among teenage drivers, studies have shown that driver education classes and training are
simply not enough, and the solution every study has found is a Graduated Driver Licensing Program, also referred to as, GDL. A Graduated Driver

Population Growth Has Fueled The Demand For More Resources
Introduction
Case Studies
Population growth has fueled the demand for more resources. The demand for coastal resources has grown significantly due to over 40% of the
world's population living within 100 km of the coast. Living in Hawaii, one of the natural resources that is most valuable to society and the local
economy is access to these coastal and beach resources. At a state level, providing and improving access to coastal resources has been a priority
objective as defined by the Coastal Zone Management Act. In attempts to valuate the benefits of access to these coastal resources, the majority of
previous research has focused on the value of beach recreation in coastal regions. These studies have found that visitors' decisions on what beach to
go to are highly influenced by preferences, perceptions and the site's characteristics (Halkos & Matsiori 2012). According to this study by Halkos and
Matsiori in Greece people are more likely to be willing to pay for improvements in beach water quality, site facilities and additional beach access
points. Recent studies have taken this data one step further to valuate the economic benefits of each of these identified improvements.
In this case, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the SMA permitting process, values must be assigned to the benefits of shoreline access. The ways
in which to determine the economic value of public beach access must be discussed to assist with our valuation methodology. The most extensive

Process Essay On How To Build A Carport
To build a carport on your property, you'll need a permit from the city. It doesn't matter if it's a pre
–fabricated carport or one that requires professional
carport builders. There are many factors to getting a permit, and a few reasons why the city might deny your request to build a carport.
Factors Impacting the Permit
Zoning
Any detached structure that can house equipment, property or people requires a permit. Zoning ordinance may require provisions for front, side and
rear portions of the property to be unobstructed to cut down on the risk of a fire spreading from one house to another. In some areas of the country,
there are required snow and wind loads. In cities with heavy snowstorms, the carports can collapse if weighted down with ... Show more content on

The permit process ensures that the proposed project meets the standards of the building code, which might vary from one city to the next. There's also
an inspection process after the construction of the project that ensures it meets safety codes. Shoddy workmanship will not pass inspection since all
dwellings must be safe and habitable after construction.
Location of Utilities
Another factor that can impact your permit is the location of utilities. You won't be able to build over the utilities that exist on the property. You'll have
to contact the proper authorities in your city to find out where they exist before you dig. As well as utilities, you need to know the location of your
sewer line. A plumber can help with that too.
Inspections During and After Construction
Along with having the proper permits before construction begins, inspectors might drop by unexpectedly to review the project. In some cases,
inspectors will need to sign off on one part of the construction before the next part can begin.
When you pull the permit for your project, the authorities will let you know what kind of inspections are required. The scope and complexity of your
project dictates how many inspections you'll need.
Common Inspections Might Include: Foundation Wall Rough

Should The Legal Driving Age Be Changed? Essay
Do you really want to be stuck at home until you're 18 doing nothing with your free time while your parents are gone? Don't you want to be able to
roam around places and probably take extracurricular activities on your own time and hang with friends too? Being able to drive is what many
children in our society think about these days. When many teenagers reach the age of 15 ВЅ they are allowed to officially take their permit test to
receive their permit for driving with an adult. After they have officially turned 16 they may take the behind–the wheel driving exam for a driver's
license, but the USA plans to change the driving age from 16 to 18. This idea seems to be a mistake seen in many ways. I believe that they shouldn't

While taking drivers education, you are tested and taught about all the rules of the roads and shown many reasons to follow these roads. For
example, if you didn't follow the speed limit signs, you are most likely to be given a ticket and fined a couple hundred dollars. While you are
driving with an adult, they will supervise you and tell you what things you are doing wrong so that you will not make the mistake again. This way,
you'll be sure not to make the same mistakes while taking your driver's test. After you've received your learners permit, you are required to complete a
minimum of six hours of behind–the wheel training with a professional driver. When taking the behind–the wheel training, you will be tested on many
roads and areas so your trainer will know what you are doing wrong and will teach you the correct way. All of these abilities are great for becoming the
safest and best driver.
Right now in the United States, we have started a hard economic time. Many people are getting laid off and lots are losing their money. If teenagers
were able to drive by themselves, they could find a job and transport themselves their without a parent. This would save the parent's time and they
wouldn't have to spend their own money on gas since it isn't their car. This way, we will be teaching our children responsibility also. The parents can

Should The Driving Age Should Be Raising The Driving Age?
Turning sixteen is a major turning point in a teenager's life, you're finally at the age where you are given much more responsibility and freedom than
before. And the biggest responsibility is being able to get your license and drive. And being given the keys to a car means a teenager can move on
from depending on their parents. That's why raising the driving age from sixteen will cause much more harm than good to many teen's lives. The
legal driving age should not be raised, despite the many efforts by the government. There is no need to raise it, the positive effects will not come
close to the negatives that come's along with it, additionally teens need to get prepared for the real world, need to drive to get around, and most of
the time car crashes are not even their fault. If push comes to shove their needs to be better driver education and standards to help teens to be more
prepared to drive and improving graduating driver licensing. Graduating driver licensing(GDL) or restrictive licensing is a way that states regulate
what a teen can do when they first get their license to limit the amount of crashes they get into and to keep them safe. Although the age differs from
state to state the same general restrictions still apply. Which include determining whether a new driver can drive with passengers, and even having a
curfew set for driving times. In Florida sixteen–year old cannot drive between 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Keeping them off the streets at night. They however

Pros And Cons Of The Driving Age
Everyday, approximately twenty nine humans die in the United States from alcohol–impaired vehicle crashes–that would mean that every fifty minutes
one person died in 2016. Also at eighteen years of age, you are more likely to drink and drive. Various adults stereotype teenagers, when an adult is
more likely to break the laws. For example, more adults drink, which may lead to drinking and driving. Also adults have had their license for so long
that they are not as cautious because if they get a ticket they won't be suspended from their license as easily. Plus to even get a driver's license there are
multiple tests that a teenager has to take and the teenager has to have around forty hours of experience. That is why the driving age should stay at 16

The Benefits Of Driving Limitation For Teenagers
Should there be so many driving limitation for young teenagers? Should these laws include limiting the time of day that a teenage driver can drive
alone or the number of passengers permitted in the car? Also, would it be helpful to have a permit system that would give new drivers more
experience before they get behind the wheel alone on their own? Are these laws beneficial/necessary for young drivers?
Teenage drivers are not always following the laws that are in place that would restrict them from driving during overnight hours, using cell phones, and
limiting the number of passengers they can have in the car. It would seem that one of the biggest accomplishments in a teenager's life is receiving their
driver's license. It is my opinion that, obtaining a license gives a teenager freedom; a newfound sense of independence. This new independence can be
very intoxicating. Teenagers drive themselves to school functions, extracurricular activities, or to work. A friend drives over to visit
–or to pick them up
to go somewhere. It is very thrilling to know that you are not at your parent's mercy to drive you to and from school, meet friends, or to work. But
with all of this new freedom comes responsibility which most sixteen year olds are not ready to handle.
I understand why teenagers would want to break the law and drive before they are legally ready. Teenagers crave independence. As they grow into
young adults, they feel the need to spread their wings, and move away from the nest. Driving is an important milestone that allows teenagers to
transition into adulthood independently. Teenagers look forward to that independence with great anticipation, and want to drive earlier, therefore, they
end up breaking laws which are there to protect the young teenager. There is a time in the teenage years, especially the ages sixteen–twenty which are
considered a 'rite of passage' for many individuals who want to apply for a driver's license and legally drive the car as a licensed driver. It isn't just
teens that are excited to reach that defining age; even parents are excited and motivated as well to join their kids in this exciting time of their life.
Because of this, young teenage drivers have consistently broken the driving

Construction Of An Existing Large Dwelling Into A New...

Zoning– Planners need to plan a town's future. Zoning addresses the issues of land use, density and building height for certain areas. (Thompson, S.
2007). Zoning is a prime tool for guiding development of a town/suburb and sets helpful standards for long developed areas and is also useful for
neighbourhood preservation.
2.Required Setbacks– Refers to the placement of the building on its block of land. In this case, the building is already pre–existing so the council will
more than likely only need to consider the setback requirements for the new addition to the rear of the property. Issues such as proximity to the
boundary line and therefore neighbours will need to be addressed.
3.Car Parking Requirements– The existing building was originally not designed to be a restaurant come tavern. As the building will now be
repurposed the developer will need to allow for car parking plans within both the planning and building approval stages.
4.Floor Area Ratio– can be defined as "The total square feet of a building divided by the total square feet of the lot the building is located on." In
more urban areas this ratio tends to be greater to reflect the density of the area's construction. (Investopedia, 2011)

Leading Economic Indicators
Leading Economic indicators offer statistics and data about the economy. There are a total of ten economic indicators that the conference board uses to
gather statistics and data to determine the status of the economy and what is expected. This helps them determine what businesses and people should

March where manufacturing production has grown. The Institute for Supply Management said its manufacturing index was 53.2 % in February while
it turned out to increase to 53.7 percent for March ("US manufacturing expanded more quickly in March," 2014, April 1). This increase shows how
manufacturing production increased from February to March by .5 percent. Although this is a slight increase this shows how there is either growth in

Pros And Cons Of Lowering The Driving Age
Personally I am very excited to receive my driver's license within the next year, but if all of the sudden instead of waiting one year I had to wait three to
four years because the legal driving age was raised to either eighteen or twenty one I would wonder why. So should the legal driving age raised? Driving
opens up a whole new world for teenagers. Driving let's teenagers understand what the life of adulthood is like and the responsibility behind driving,
buying food, getting groceries, getting gas, and so much more. Driving also gives teenagers the responsibility to do things on their own and not rely on
their parents if they want to do something.
Driving to school is a common theme for high school students especially nowadays. Some high school students don't have access to a school bus and
rely on a parent to take them to school. High school student, Shawn Peterson has said he must scramble for a ride to school each morning because his
mother works. Shawn Peterson is not the only student who relies on driving to school or getting drove to school and if all of these students now didn't
have a car then transportation to school become a major issue in the U.S (Keilman).

Home Building Industry How does the home building industry affected by the economy? This is what we will be exploring in the paper. There are
different areas within the industry that can be affected. First we will look at supply and demand. Then continue to the positive and negative
externalities, and how wages inequality is measured. Then finally, we will look at the monetary and fiscal policies that affect the housing industry.
With the information we will have a better understanding of how the home building industry is affected. When looking at prices within an industry, we
need to first look at the supply and demand. For home builders this market has been fluctuating for awhile. The gross domestic product (GDP) is one of

Application Of Planning Approval And Building Permit
Since the proposal is required to apply for a change of use on land, from dwelling to a food and entertainment area, the Local Council of the City of
Cockburn needs to grant a planning approval and building permit is to be issued before any use and construction work are to commence. The
proposal of a dwelling area to be redeveloped as a new tavern or restaurant with an outdoor entertainment area requires being in the correct zone to
avoid being deemed of refusal by the Council. According to the Town Planning Scheme No. 3 (TPS 3) of the City of Cockburn (City of Cockburn
2014), the permitted zones found on the Scheme map are to be in the Regional Centre, District Centre, and Light and Service Centre.

Driving Limitations : The Limits Of Driving For Young People
Driving limitations, while annoying to some young people, are a very safe and effective thing that all states, and countries for that matter, should use
very strictly. In towns like ours, people are very ignorant to driving limitations. Parents are especially ignorant to them.
As young people, we do stupid things all the time without thinking about the consequences first. Our parents are supposed to be there to guide us and
instruct us to do what's safe and right. But when it comes to driving limitations in our small farming town, many parents couldn't care less if their
children start driving before the legal age.
My parents were some of those ignorant parents. My parents have been allowing me to drive for a long time. Before it was legal. We own a farm
and they need help running it. So like many farm parents, they let me drive around the farm. I remember a time when I was really young, my dad
made me drive the truck so he could throw the hay bales off the back. The only problem was that I was so little, I couldn't reach the pedals. So he put
it on automatic and all I had to do was steer.
Although I loved driving before I was supposed to, I don't think it was the right thing to do. It was wrong and against the law. Something really bad
could have happened. If I would have gotten in a crash, we would have had to pay out of pocket because insurance won't cover accidents if you're not
legal.
And although driving limitations are important for the safety and well–being of yourself and others, I think that the driving age in Utah should be
lowered. Last year I lived in Idaho with my sister and I learned that you can take driver's ed and get your learner's permit while you are only fourteen
years old and you get your license when you are fifteen. Here, in Utah, you have to be at least fifteen years old to start driver's ed and get your learner's
permit.
I knew a lot of people in Idaho who were very safe drivers and they were only fourteen years old and when I was driving around our farm when I was
that age, I was perfectly safe. That is why I believe that Utah should lower their driving age, but still keep very strict driving limitations.

Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age
One of the greatest accomplishments in a teenager's life is receiving their driver's license. Obtaining a license gives a teenager freedom, a newfound
sense of independence. It is exciting to know that you are not at your parent's mercy to drive you to school, meet friends, or to work.At the age of 16
people can receive their drivers' license. The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen is an ongoing issue. There are
both arguments for and against this matter.
Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life–threatening accidents; therefore, raising the minimum driving age could significantly reduce
the number of accidents. The accident rates can be lowered considerably if the legal driving age is bumped up to eighteen. This would mean that
no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident. Many think that this age is too high but many more think it is too low. The age at
which young people can receive their license is to low. There are three stages of a license and people shouldnt be able to receive the first stage of
their license until they are 18.With the driving age at 16 there are a lot more accidents. The amount of accidents with teenage drivers is more than
triple that of drivers who are older and have had more experience. If the driving age was higher this would lessen the number of accidents more
because people would have a better understanding of what they are doing. People should not be able to start

I joined the staff of the Carolina Missionary Baptist Church in March 2002 as a church administrator. My first major responsibility was to complete the
development and construction of the Family Life Center. Although, I had worked on development projects in another County before, I had not actually

After the architect was selected and in our initial meeting, I was asked to imagine things about the building; how it would look, types of offices, other
rooms, bathrooms, the sanctuary, the colors of the walls, types and colors of floor tile, etc. I was to imagine the building without being concerned
about cost or any other constraints. I imagined this grand building with tall windows in the sanctuary to let in the light, colorful rooms for the nursery
and pre–school children, a gym for working out, classrooms with large screens and projectors, a sound room with state of the art production
equipment, a bride's room so that brides could get dressed at the church, a banquet room for receptions, dinners and dances, and a cadre of other
things. I let my imagination take to the sky. Nothing was off limits. I imagined a suite for Pastor and First Lady to include a private dining room,
executive conference room, full bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi, conference room for counseling sessions, individual dressing rooms, office with
big screen televisions and computers. Their offices would have chaise lounges for resting when they are in the church for extended periods of time.
The architect took my ideas along with our Pastor's and developed a design of the building. While awaiting the architect's design, I set about learning
the other steps in the development and construction process.

These allegations surfaced when a Hispanic lawyer contacted Wal–Mart headquarters in Bentonville Arkansas. This lawyer had inside information on
Wal–Mart's bribes, as he represented them in their acts. He was used as a middle man for Wal–Mart's payoffs to these officials. Wal–Mart took action

Should The Minimum Age Be Raised To 18
For many teenagers in the United States their 16th birthday is an important milestone. This is the age that teenagers begin to integrate more into
society as they begin to drive and experience new levels of freedom. As 16 is the usual minimum age for employment in most industries some teens
even get jobs for personal reason or to benefit their household. The minimum age to acquire a driver's licence should not increase to 18 as younger
teens will not be able to help provide for their families with current public transportation methods in the United States. According to the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety the first drivers license dates back to 1899 with a license being issued for a steam propelled vehicle in Chicago, Illinois.
Over the next five years various states began introducing laws on driving, specifically the minimum age, to ensure public safety. While some states
like Massachusetts and Missouri were quick to enact these laws, others were not. South Dakota took over 50 years to enact a minimum driving age in
the state. As states, one by one, began drafting these public safety laws, the age required to obtain a license varied from 14–18 years old. ... Show more

Teenage Driving
Teenage Driving
Should the minimum driving age be raised? In the article Traffic Safety Facts the NHTSA states that, 5,864 15– 20 year old drivers were involved in
fatal crashes in 2008, which is a 27% decrease from the crashes in 1998. This is still a big number, and has been tried to be reduced by New Jersey,
but ended up not doing much, and instead added and increase of car crashes to an older age group. The minimum driving age should not be raised to
allow teens to gain experience, learn responsibility, while staying safe altogether.
Putting teens on the road at a young age as low as 15–16–years–old allows them to gain experience that will help them become more accustomed to the
road when they get their driving licences at 18. As stated in the article, Teenage Driving Laws May Just Delay Deadly Crashes, it says "Many
teenagers, rather than deal with the extra restrictions for 16–17 –year–olds, are simply waiting until they turn 18, and skipping the restrictions
altogether. As a result, a greater proportion of inexperienced drivers hit the road" (40). This proves that teens who do not drive at 16 are more likely
to get into car crashes, because they wait til 18 to avoid being restricted like the 16– 17– year–olds. Teens who skip the 16 –17–year–old restrictions
are just starving themselves from gaining the early knowledge on driving that is needed to prevent fatal crashes. The same article also says that,
"There have been 1,348 fewer deadly crashes involving 16–year–old

also other driver's lives would be in danger too. In Young, Drunk, Dangerous, and Driving: Underage Drinking and Driving Research Findings
points out that "50% have consumed alcohol while in the act of driving and almost seven of every ten youth have driven a car after having
consumed a couple of drinks" (39). With this in mind Indiana, enforcements have cracked down on drunk drivers trying to eliminate most of them
off the road. In the state of Indiana, the protocols for police officers have the authority to pull over any suspicious drunk drivers. Positive test
results in drunk driving could lead to serious disciplinary actions, especially for young drivers. "You are considered to be over the limit in Indiana if
you have a BAC of at least 0.08%," according to Indiana DUI & DWI Laws & Enforcement. "If you're younger than 21 years old, the limit is only
0.02%. Additionally, if your BAC is over

The Building And Construction Industry
Industry professionals The building and construction industry is a wide industry that encompasses many professionals. No one person does all the
work from start to finish, many people are involved in teams that contribute to each stage of the works until completion. Material taken from: https:/
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geotechnical_engineering Geotechnical engineers: Geotechnical engineering uses principles of soil mechanics and rock
mechanics to investigate subsurface conditions and materials; determine the relevant physical/mechanical and chemical properties of these materials;
evaluate stability of natural slopes and man–made soil deposits; assess risks posed by site conditions; design earthworks and structure foundations; and
monitor site conditions, earthwork and foundation construction. A geotechnical engineer will determine and suggest designs for the type of footings,
earthworks, and/or pavement subgrades required for the intended man–made structures to be built. Eg high–rise buildings, bridges, medium to large
commercial buildings, and smaller structures where the soil conditions do not allow code–based design. Material taken from: http:/

Essay On Hardscape
If you're looking for ways to add extra room to your home, you might consider adding new hardscape instead of creating an addition to the existing
home. There are a few benefits that hardscape has over an addition.
Less Space Requirements
When you're adding an addition to the home, you'll need enough clearance from the surrounding houses as well as space in the back of the house.
Whether you're adding another level or an addition at the back of the home, you'll need a certain amount of clearance. An addition should be a certain
square footage, or it's not worth the cost of construction in most cases. When you're adding hardscape, you can make it as big or as small as you want.
You can create a path away from the home to a location in the corner. Nothing has to be attached to the home either.
No Building Permits Needed
You have to get approval and permits before you can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You'll have to pay for contractors as well as subcontractors to perform the work. Plumbers and inspections cost extra too. The cost of the addition
depends largely on the quality of the materials you want to use in the home too.
Continuous Build
When you construct an addition on your home, it's an enclosed space that is limited. With hardscaping, you can build a patio then lengthen the patio
into a walkway to another section of the backyard to be hardscaped. This kind of construction is quick and gratifying. You could work on the
backyard in stages based on the amount you have to work with at the time. One year, you can extend the patio. The next year, you could build a secret
garden in the far corner.
There are more benefits to hardscaping than there are to constructing an addition on the home. You don't need to worry about building permits, zoning
requirements or the costs involved. A new hardscape can give you extra space without all the hassle of building onto the

Case Study Texas Gulf Seawater

  • 1. Case Study Texas Gulf Seawater To the City Planners of Hidalgo County, TX, Our name is Team Ramrod. We are an efficient, dedicated and goal oriented team comprised of three engineers, two Chemical and one Biochemical, all having received diplomas from the Colorado School of Mines. Recently we were assigned the task of designing a cost and energy efficient manner with which to provide the residents of your community with clean, usable, even drinkable water. Prior to commencing the project, we have some questions and concerns we wish to address with you so that we may better be able to serve you and your residents in designing this project. You have expressed interest in exploring the possibilities of using brackish water from several geothermal wells located within 10 miles of the city, as well as exploring the idea of using Texas Gulf seawater as resources for this project. As a team, we agree these sources of water show great potential in helping us design a solution to this problem. Currently, we are exploring the feasibility of efficiently transporting water from these sources to Hidalgo County and using water treatment plants to provide clean and useable water for the residents. With the consideration of feasibility as well as practicality, we have several topics pertinent to the design of this project that must be addressed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is extremely important because if the design is not economically feasible there really exists no way by which that design can be made concrete. Next, we have several points relating to the water needs of the community. These include but are not limited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Teenage Driving Age Furthermore, teens that are getting their license are doing it for a reason, most of them need that license to help with their lives. Everyday having something to do after school, teens need to get around town in their car. Almost everyone by this age has a job after school or at some point has had a job. They can't ask their parents to take them to work, because again most of them have jobs that work well into the night, so they need a means of transportation which is why they want a license. "Teens practice driving for many hours. Need to drive to get to part–time jobs and to do tasks like grocery shopping."(Driving Age). Once you get your license you can get a job for yourself since you can drive their now. It's one of the top reasons for getting a license which is their part time job and getting task done for their parents. And it's not just getting to their job that they need a car for, more importantly they need it for school. Magnet or ib students can take 30–minute–long car drives just to reach school, they can't take the bus because that's just way out of their jurisdiction. Many of them do drive cars', which help them to get to school every day. Even Maine which "has protested the idea of raising the driving age because teens need to drive and help with chores" (Driving for teens only?). Maine is furthermore one of the states that have a graduating license, which shows how great of an example this state is when it comes to teen driving. Many other states need to ... • 4. Stationary Monitoring Traffic On Main Street Essay On 06/29/2015 I was stationary monitoring traffic on Main Street (SR 924). At approximately 2135 hours I observed a green Ford Ranger pick–up truck travelling southbound. The vehicle was travelling at forty (40) miles per hour in a clearly and properly posted twenty–five (25) mile per hour zone. I exited the designated area, activated my emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on State Route 924 near Furnace Street. I exited the patrol vehicle and approached the driver who was observed reaching toward the door panel. I questioned him about what he was reaching for and he replied he was rolling his window down. I asked if he had anything in the vehicle where he was reaching and he stated he did not and told me to check the vehicle. The males hands were shaken vigorously and his face was sweaty. I requested the operator 's license, registration and insurance card. The operator supplied me with the information and he was then identified through a Pennsylvania driver 's license photo as Dennis Dale MILLER from here on known as the defendant. I proceeded back to the patrol vehicle to check the status on the defendant 's license and the vehicle. During this time it was learned the defendant had an active warrant out of Schuylkill County for failing to appear for a criminal case. I approached the driver and requested him to exit the vehicle. I informed him of the warrant and he was detained, waiting for a response to see if they wanted him placed in the prison. While waiting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Mandatory Driving Laws And Legislation For Teenagers "In 2011, about 2,650 teenagers in the United States aged sixteen to nineteen were killed and almost 292,000 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That means that seven teenagers' ages sixteen to nineteen died every day from motor vehicle related injuries" (Teenage 1). Teenagedriving has become an increasingly controversial topic over the past ten years. Many adults and politicians are fighting for tougher driving laws and legislation for teenagers. While soon–to–be teenage drivers, along with current teenage drivers and busy parents argue that things are fine just the way they are. But, when the leading cause of death among teenagers in the nation is traffic accidents, things cannot be considered "fine". It is obvious that there is a need for change and something must be done to save the lives of teenagers throughout the United States. In an effort to lessen the number of traffic injuries and deaths among teenage drivers, states need to adopt a Graduated Driver Licensing Program (GDL), which encompasses night–time driving, passenger limitation, cell phone use, seat belt use, a minimum holding period, and a minimum amount of supervised driving hours. In the area of safety issues among teenage drivers, studies have shown that driver education classes and training are simply not enough, and the solution every study has found is a Graduated Driver Licensing Program, also referred to as, GDL. The demand for coastal resources has grown significantly due to over 40% of the world's population living within 100 km of the coast. Living in Hawaii, one of the natural resources that is most valuable to society and the local economy is access to these coastal and beach resources. At a state level, providing and improving access to coastal resources has been a priority objective as defined by the Coastal Zone Management Act. In attempts to valuate the benefits of access to these coastal resources, the majority of previous research has focused on the value of beach recreation in coastal regions. These studies have found that visitors' decisions on what beach to go to are highly influenced by preferences, perceptions and the site's characteristics (Halkos & Matsiori 2012). According to this study by Halkos and Matsiori in Greece people are more likely to be willing to pay for improvements in beach water quality, site facilities and additional beach access points. Recent studies have taken this data one step further to valuate the economic benefits of each of these identified improvements. In this case, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the SMA permitting process, values must be assigned to the benefits of shoreline access. The ways in which to determine the economic value of public beach access must be discussed to assist with our valuation methodology. The most extensive studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The Benefits Of Driving Limitation For Teenagers Should there be so many driving limitation for young teenagers? Should these laws include limiting the time of day that a teenage driver can drive alone or the number of passengers permitted in the car? Also, would it be helpful to have a permit system that would give new drivers more experience before they get behind the wheel alone on their own? Are these laws beneficial/necessary for young drivers? Teenage drivers are not always following the laws that are in place that would restrict them from driving during overnight hours, using cell phones, and limiting the number of passengers they can have in the car. It would seem that one of the biggest accomplishments in a teenager's life is receiving their driver's license. It is my opinion that, obtaining a license gives a teenager freedom; a newfound sense of independence. This new independence can be very intoxicating. Teenagers drive themselves to school functions, extracurricular activities, or to work. A friend drives over to visit –or to pick them up to go somewhere. It is very thrilling to know that you are not at your parent's mercy to drive you to and from school, meet friends, or to work. But with all of this new freedom comes responsibility which most sixteen year olds are not ready to handle. I understand why teenagers would want to break the law and drive before they are legally ready. Teenagers crave independence. As they grow into young adults, they feel the need to spread their wings, and move away from the nest. Driving is an important milestone that allows teenagers to transition into adulthood independently. Teenagers look forward to that independence with great anticipation, and want to drive earlier, therefore, they end up breaking laws which are there to protect the young teenager. There is a time in the teenage years, especially the ages sixteen–twenty which are considered a 'rite of passage' for many individuals who want to apply for a driver's license and legally drive the car as a licensed driver. It isn't just teens that are excited to reach that defining age; even parents are excited and motivated as well to join their kids in this exciting time of their life. Because of this, young teenage drivers have consistently broken the driving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Application Of Planning Approval And Building Permit Since the proposal is required to apply for a change of use on land, from dwelling to a food and entertainment area, the Local Council of the City of Cockburn needs to grant a planning approval and building permit is to be issued before any use and construction work are to commence. • 29. Driving Limitations : The Limits Of Driving For Young People Driving limitations, while annoying to some young people, are a very safe and effective thing that all states, and countries for that matter, should use very strictly. In towns like ours, people are very ignorant to driving limitations. Parents are especially ignorant to them. As young people, we do stupid things all the time without thinking about the consequences first. Our parents are supposed to be there to guide us and instruct us to do what's safe and right. But when it comes to driving limitations in our small farming town, many parents couldn't care less if their children start driving before the legal age. My parents were some of those ignorant parents. My parents have been allowing me to drive for a long time. Before it was legal. We own a farm and they need help running it. So like many farm parents, they let me drive around the farm. I remember a time when I was really young, my dad made me drive the truck so he could throw the hay bales off the back. The only problem was that I was so little, I couldn't reach the pedals. So he put it on automatic and all I had to do was steer. Although I loved driving before I was supposed to, I don't think it was the right thing to do. It was wrong and against the law. Something really bad could have happened. If I would have gotten in a crash, we would have had to pay out of pocket because insurance won't cover accidents if you're not legal. And although driving limitations are important for the safety and well–being of yourself and others, I think that the driving age in Utah should be lowered. Last year I lived in Idaho with my sister and I learned that you can take driver's ed and get your learner's permit while you are only fourteen years old and you get your license when you are fifteen. Here, in Utah, you have to be at least fifteen years old to start driver's ed and get your learner's permit. I knew a lot of people in Idaho who were very safe drivers and they were only fourteen years old and when I was driving around our farm when I was that age, I was perfectly safe. That is why I believe that Utah should lower their driving age, but still keep very strict driving limitations. On megaessays.com, the person who wrote the essay states that "One ... • 30. Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age One of the greatest accomplishments in a teenager's life is receiving their driver's license. Obtaining a license gives a teenager freedom, a newfound sense of independence. It is exciting to know that you are not at your parent's mercy to drive you to school, meet friends, or to work.At the age of 16 people can receive their drivers' license. The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen is an ongoing issue. There are both arguments for and against this matter. Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life–threatening accidents; therefore, raising the minimum driving age could significantly reduce the number of accidents. The accident rates can be lowered considerably if the legal driving age is bumped up to eighteen. This would mean that no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident. Many think that this age is too high but many more think it is too low. The age at which young people can receive their license is to low. There are three stages of a license and people shouldnt be able to receive the first stage of their license until they are 18.With the driving age at 16 there are a lot more accidents. The amount of accidents with teenage drivers is more than triple that of drivers who are older and have had more experience. If the driving age was higher this would lessen the number of accidents more because people would have a better understanding of what they are doing. People should not be able to start ... • 39. Should The Minimum Age Be Raised To 18 For many teenagers in the United States their 16th birthday is an important milestone. This is the age that teenagers begin to integrate more into society as they begin to drive and experience new levels of freedom. As 16 is the usual minimum age for employment in most industries some teens even get jobs for personal reason or to benefit their household. The minimum age to acquire a driver's licence should not increase to 18 as younger teens will not be able to help provide for their families with current public transportation methods in the United States. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety the first drivers license dates back to 1899 with a license being issued for a steam propelled vehicle in Chicago, Illinois. Over the next five years various states began introducing laws on driving, specifically the minimum age, to ensure public safety. While some states like Massachusetts and Missouri were quick to enact these laws, others were not. South Dakota took over 50 years to enact a minimum driving age in the state. • 41. Teenage Driving Teenage Driving Should the minimum driving age be raised? In the article Traffic Safety Facts the NHTSA states that, 5,864 15– 20 year old drivers were involved in fatal crashes in 2008, which is a 27% decrease from the crashes in 1998. This is still a big number, and has been tried to be reduced by New Jersey, but ended up not doing much, and instead added and increase of car crashes to an older age group. The minimum driving age should not be raised to allow teens to gain experience, learn responsibility, while staying safe altogether. Putting teens on the road at a young age as low as 15–16–years–old allows them to gain experience that will help them become more accustomed to the road when they get their driving licences at 18. As stated in the article, Teenage Driving Laws May Just Delay Deadly Crashes, it says "Many teenagers, rather than deal with the extra restrictions for 16–17 –year–olds, are simply waiting until they turn 18, and skipping the restrictions altogether. As a result, a greater proportion of inexperienced drivers hit the road" (40). This proves that teens who do not drive at 16 are more likely to get into car crashes, because they wait til 18 to avoid being restricted like the 16– 17– year–olds. Teens who skip the 16 –17–year–old restrictions are just starving themselves from gaining the early knowledge on driving that is needed to prevent fatal crashes. The same article also says that, "There have been 1,348 fewer deadly crashes involving 16–year–old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
