2. Brief Synopsis Evening time in an empty city centre, law breaker Harry Cooper with his sidekick, teen follower Scarlet Fraser closely by his side, hire a skateboarding teen to mug a woman on her way home from work, stealing her bag, her credit card and her passport in order to steal her identity. All works perfectly for Harry and Scarlet. Or so they think. A glimpse of revenge is seen in the eyes of the victim.
3. Characters Harry Cooper (played by David Lovick) – 20 years old, a manipulative and controlling character. He acts as the ‘witness’ in the thriller, as he watches the action unfold. This character is based on Harry Lime from the thriller “The Third Man” Scarlet Fraser (played by Jenna Bolingbroke) – 18 years old, a drop-out from college. Keen to impress the older man that she follows and loves. Although somewhat controlled by the male, her personality is strong and she answers to no one. She is a fighting character, deviant to the law. This character can be related to the thriller genre as there is a sense of a modern woman with a fighting role in the film. This is important as the role of women is changing in society.
4. Characters Eve White (played by Emily King)- 17 years old, a College Student on her way home from part time job in a clothes shop in the city. Like Scarlet, her female role will represent the change in how the society sees women. She will seem vulnerable, young and innocent in the opening to the thriller, but after being mugged she will show a sense of defiance and desire for revenge. Will Block (played by Tom Block) – 17 years old college student, a typical teenager looking for a way to make a bit of money. He is an enthusiastic and keen skateboarder.
5. Location Our thriller will be based in Norwich city centre, as a typical location that is usually a busy place and yet also a hotspot for crime. It also has easy access for the group and cast. Subway: We are using this location due to the generic thriller aspects that it provides: dark, non-ambient lighting; the sense of claustrophobia; the sense of isolation; and the sense of entrapment. Alleyway: we are going to use one end of the alleyway, presenting it as an archway. The almost complete darkness in the alleyway creates an eerie, threatening location for crime. It is also an enclosed space, like the subway, maintaining the claustrophobic theme. ATM machine: We are going to use an ATM machine to create a reason for the crime to occur. There is a lot of suspicion and paranoia about identity theft surrounding ATM machines. Using this type of crime can be related to by the audience as it is a frequent occurrence in society.
6. Costumes Harry Cooper: Smart theme, a black suit, black leather shoes, black trilby hat, a cross necklace. Will Block: Dark blue hoody, denim baggy jeans, Vans trainers, black beanie hat Eve White: Dark, navy skinny jeans, black leather coat, red scarf, red gloves Scarlet: a similar dress to Eve; dark, navy skinny jeans, black leather coat, red scarf and leather gloves The costumes of the characters also come from the sort of clothing that people wear in 2010. 16-24 year old audiences can relate to the clothing as it may be popular.
