company(also a conglomerate)

3. Why Studio Canal UK
Studio Canal support Independent British Films, which
South-East Descent is, so straight away I knew by this
that Studio Canal UK would be a good idea.
Furthermore, I also looked at what films Studio Canal UK
have previously distributed that were similar to mine in
terms of genre, themes and target audiences; This Is
England which grossed £5M, a profit of £4.5M and
Submarine which grossed $3.8M. These films are both
British Dramas and have similar target audiences to
mine in terms of age and social groups. Therefore, it
would make sense to use Studio Canal as they have
been successful with these films.
Now that they’re owned by Vivendi, there are links with
other media industries.

• They have distributed films similar to mine like This Is England and
Submarine, and these have been big successes.
• My film includes known British actors, some that were in Submarine, so
