3. The UK Film
Council
The UK Film Council was a non-departmental public body set
up in 2000 to promote and develop the film in the industry in
the UK. Later it was constituted as a private company owned
by the Secretary of state for culture, media and sport.
Every year, the UK Film Council distributes around £27 million
from the Lottery and £27 million from the Government. They
support short films, and cinemas and film production.
Our opening sequence could be funded by this institution,
as they fund short films.
Short films help new-filmmakers into the mainstream. The
Council support short films in order to get directors to move
into full films. Our film would be to their advantage as well as
ours.
4. Film Four
Film 4 invests around £500,000 per film, at a rate of
20 films per year. This may fit our budget.
- This institution is appealing to us because it
distributes independent film-makers.
- Also Film 4 most commonly funds British made
films which is to our benefit.
5. Vertigo Films
Vertigo Films is an independent film company.
Vertigo Film remains a minute in comparison to
bigger and more popular companies such as
Warner Brothers as they aim to produce only 4
films a year.
The company funds films for a variety of budgets
therefore it is the best institution company that can
distribute our opening sequence.
Vertigo Films have technological convergence, they
allow films to be purchased and downloaded on for
example Google play. And this helps them re-
distribute their films and provide opportunity to
experience the films in new ways. My group and I
believe Vertigo Films would be the best institution
to exhibit our film.
