Combining Product and Ancillary Texts for Maximum Effectiveness
1. How effective is the combination
of your main product and
ancillary texts?
2. “…practically bleeds through the pores of
The main point of the two ancillary
tasks is to publicise my short film by
getting it out into as many different
markets as possible. Including similar
connotations throughout all three
materials is beneficial for the reason
that my audience will become further

To successfully combine the poster with
the short film I’ve considered the mise-
en-scene to advance the theme of
Horror/Crime/Detective.
The lighting: The lighting of the poster

iconography that connote the genre of
horror.
The pieces of paper that are
ripped up but full of text
should connote the Crime/
4. Unified Representation
These unified themes and motifs let the
audience experience what Sasha’s Smile will be
like before they even see it. Established
conventions combined to publicise the short
film work like an enigma posed to the audience
that they can crack when they watch the film.
