4. Merchandise Mood board
Here is a mood board of lots of different
merchandise items I found on the internet that are related
to surfing. Many of the items are SAS ones and so this will
give me a good idea of the sort of items that would be
suitable.
Mugs, bags, caps and clothing are common
merchandise items and I think that they are good ones to
go with as everyone will use them and will be familiar with
them.
The merchandise I was most interested in however
was the surfing related merchandise such as board bags,
vinyls and leashes. These items will be popular within the
surfing community and are ones that I can consider when
designing my own merchandise.
There is also beach wear and other beach related
items to consider. Beach towels, shorts and windbreakers
are items I could make and are also ones I think would be
well received.
I have also seen lots of gimmicky ornaments and
figures like the VW van to the right and although I do not
particularly like them I may consider them as I
know things like this are popular.

7. To get the ideas for the membership forms I looked at a lot of existing
ones to see what they included. They all had an eye catching image on the
front with a title saying something like “Join Us” or “New Members Wanted”.
The inside pages all varied in design and some included more information but
they all had who they were, what they did, why it was important, what
members get and information on their newest campaign. After seeing this I
decided that that is what I wanted to include on my middle pages.
I have left the flat plan pretty basic but I will experiment with where the in
formation boxes will go and if I will add graphical elements to it as I'm
designing. The flat plan has given me an idea of how everything will fit into the
pages however.
On the back of the form is the actual form that a person must fill out to
become a member. This is the least attractive part of the design and so putting
it on the back where most of the time it wont be able to be seen unless being
filled out is a good idea I think. It does also make it very easy to find for when
the person decides to fill it out and this is another plus.
