UPS Invests In Autonomous Trucking Company,
Tests Self-Driving Tractor Trailers
UPS said its venture capital arm, UPS Ventures, has made a minority
investment in autonomous driving company TuSimple. Together, both
companies are testing self-driving tractor trailers on a route in Arizona to
determine whether the vehicles can improve service and efficiency in the UPS®
network. This is an extension of the ongoing commercial relationship between
UPS and TuSimple in which UPS has purchased transportation services from
TuSimple. The work with autonomous driving company TuSimple began with
the goal of helping UPS better understand the requirements for Level 4
Autonomous trucking in its network. L4 Autonomous means the vehicle’s
onboard computer is in complete control at all times, eliminating manual
intervention. Currently, however, laws regulating L4 Autonomous driving
require a driver in the vehicle at all times to take over operation if needed.
“UPS is committed to developing and deploying technologies that enable us to
operate our global logistics network more efficiently,” said Chief Strategy and
Transformation Officer. “While fully autonomous, driverless vehicles still have
development and regulatory work ahead, we are excited by the advances in braking

CN Announces Strategic Acquisition from CSX in the
State of New York
CN is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement that will see CN acquire
the Massena rail line from CSX, which represents more than 220 miles of track
between Valleyfield (Quebec), in Canada, and Woodard (New York), in the U.S.
The Massena rail line also serves many cities in the province of Quebec,
including Beauharnois and Huntingdon, and in the state of New York, including
Massena, Norwood, Potsdam, and Gouverneur.Separately, on August 8, 2019,
CN and CSX announced a new intermodal service offering between CN’s
greater Montreal & Southern Ontario network, and the CSX-served ports of
Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan area.
This agreement will come into effect on October 7, 2019 and will help move
freight from trucks to rail, reducing congestion in New York in a sustainable
manner.
“CN is excited to be expanding its reach in New York. With this acquisition
from CSX, we are opening up new opportunities for our existing customers and
local businesses who will be able to access new markets through CN’s unique
three coasts network,” said JJ Ruest, president and chief executive officer at CN.

Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per
Share for 100% of Transat and Lock-upand Support Agreement with
Transat's Largest Shareholder, Letko Brosseau
Air Canada and Transat A.T. Inc. announced that Air Canada has agreed to increase the
purchase price for the acquisition of all issued and outstanding shares of Transat, from $13
to $18 per share and have amended the Arrangement Agreement dated June 27, 2019
accordingly. Based on the increased consideration, the value of the all-cash transaction is
approximately $720 million. Air Canada has also entered into a lock-up and support
agreement with Transat's largest shareholder, Letko Brosseau & Associates Inc., who
beneficially owns or has control or direction over 7,277,104 Class B voting shares or
approximately 19.3% of all issued and outstanding shares of Transat. Under the terms of its
Lock-up and Support Agreement, Letko Brosseau has agreed to support and vote all of the
Class B voting shares of Transat it controls at the Special Meeting of Shareholders of
Transat on August 23, 2019 or at any adjournment or postponement thereof, in favour of
Air Canada's acquisition of Transat.
"After extensive consultations with Letko Brosseau and several other large shareholders of Transat, we
agreed to materially increase our price to ensure the transaction receives the necessary level of support at
the Special Meeting of Shareholders of Transat," said President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada.
"We are therefore very pleased to have received Letko Brosseau's strong endorsement for our transaction.
We know this achieves the best possible outcome for all stakeholders. For shareholders of Transat and Air
Canada, the combination delivers excellent value, while also providing increased job security for both
companies' employees through greater growth prospects. Air Canada intends to preserve the Transat and Air
Transat brands and maintain the Transat head office and its key functions in Montreal. Travellers will
benefit from the merged companies' enhanced capabilities in the highly competitive, global leisure travel
market and from access to new destinations, more connecting traffic and increased frequencies. The
Quebec economy will derive maximum advantage of having a Montreal-based, growth-oriented global

Managing Director said “US-China trade frictions created more
chances for other countries to cooperate with China, and the

business, hence the overall impact is limited. The total container

Aeroflot announces 6M 2019
IFRS financial results
• In 6M 2019, Aeroflot Group’s revenue increased by 17.2%
year-on-year to RUB 311,440 million.
• In 6M 2019, Operating costs increased by 19.5% to RUB
296,822million, primarily due to an increase in operations – capacities
increased by 14.9% year-on-year.
• In 6M 2019, finance income increased by 3.8% year-on-year to RUB
3,246 million. Finance costs decreased by 50.1% year-on-year to RUB
27 236million
• As of 30 June 2019, totaldebtin accordance with IFRS 16 decreased
by 9.1% compared to 31 December 2018, to RUB 600,359 million.
Aeroflot Deputy CEO for Commerce and Finance, said:“2019 began for us with high fuel prices
and currency pressure on FX-denominated cost items. This led to relatively modest results for the
first quarter. At the same time, despite the continued strengthening of competitors in the Group's
core markets, we were able to deliver steady improvement in our yields. In the second quarter, a
number of trends from the beginning of the year shifted slightly. Although fuel prices remained
high when compared with historic averages, we saw the first signs of stabilisation: in June 2019,
prices declined on a year-on-year basis for the first time in nearly two years. While the depreciation
of the ruble against the dollar slowed from 16.2% in the first quarter to 4.5% in the second quarter,
a slight strengthening of the ruble against the Euro, alongside weak yields on European routes, led
to a further shortfall in revenues. The temporaryclosure of Pakistan's airspace – which increased
flight time to destinations in Thailand, Vietnam and India, resulting in higher fuel expenses
throughout the second quarter – put additional pressure on the Company's financial results.

Delta was certified once again as a great workplace by the
independent analysts at Great Place to Work. The airline earned
this credential for a fourth straight year based on ratings provided
by Delta people in anonymous surveys. Certification is a
significant achievement. Using validated employee feedback
gathered with Great Place to Work's data-driven methodology,
certification confirms seven out of 10 employees have a
consistently positive experience at Delta.The survey, sent to a
random selection of Delta's more than 80,000 people worldwide,
was anchored by 87 percent of respondents saying Delta overall is

the prestigious Blue Angel certification for excellence in
environmentally friendly ship design. The newest ship in

of being powered in port or at sea by liquefied natural gas
(LNG), the world's cleanest burning fossil fuel.Blue Angel is a
certification program of Germany's Federal Ministry for the

industries, the Blue Angel ecolabel was designed and launched
in 1978 to help consumers and vendors choose businesses that

NYK Receives 2019 Seafarers Safety
Initiative Grand Prize
NYK has been recognized with the 2019 Seafarers Safety
Initiative Grand Prize awarded by Japan’s Ministry of
Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) for
the company’s seafarer safety activities. The award
recognizes NYK’s initiatives to prevent human accidents
and utilize engine data. A ceremony was held on
September 4 at the ministry’s office in Tokyo and
attended by NYK managing corporate officer Tomoyuki
Koyama. NYK jointly developed Kirari NINJA, which
enables users to realize the precise condition of the
combustion chamber interior and thus eliminate the need
for the crew to partake of the long, hard process to
examine the interior condition at high temperatures. The
development also helps to reduce human accidents
because there is no need to insert a hand to photograph
the interior by using a conventional digital camera, thus
preventing serious accidents.

Aeroflot ranks No1 by punctuality in July among
world’s top 20 airlines
Aeroflot ranks first by punctuality in July among world’s 20 largest
airlines, according to the leading global provider of travel data and insight
OAG. Acc. to the monthly OAG On-Time Performance Report, in July
2019, Aeroflot operated 86.7% of flights on schedule. The Russian carrier
has showed top result among the largest global carriers making up the
world’s top 20 airlines by operations ranking. Aeroflot has outperformed
major competitors, and has greatly improved its punctuality result against
that of June 2019 posting a 1.3 p.p growth. Earlier this summer, Aeroflot
received five-star punctuality rating from OAG, becoming the only Russian
and the largest European airline by passenger traffic to receive the highest
score. Aeroflot made it to the only 10% of On-Time Performance Star
Ratings to receive the highest five-star rating. Aeroflot has been constantly
improving its punctuality result through a host of effective measures. These
included strict implementation of boarding regulations. Future plans
include innovations based on the latest digital technologies, such as
biometric controls, that will significantly accelerate pre-flight airport
procedures for passengers.

UPS Pledges Support For Three Japanese Non-Profits
Promoting Diversity And Environmental Protection
UPS recently announced its support for three Japanese
non-profit organisations (NPOs). Donations, made via UPS’s
philanthropic arm The UPS Foundation, include a US$25,000
grant given to environmental conservation NPO Fujimae
Ramsar Society, and a US$21,000 contribution to inclusivity
advocates Shonan Barrier-free Tour Center. The company also
provided logistics support for art exhibitions organised by Art
of the Rough Diamonds, a group which displays artwork by
Japanese artists with disabilities.A non-profit dedicated to
preserving Fujimae Tidal Flat, which was designated a Ramsar
site (a wetland of international significance) in 2002, Fujimae
Ramsar Society organises environmental programs to educate
the public on the history of the flat and the importance of
environmental conservation to protect biodiversity. The grant
will be used to conduct educational programs for young people
and to publish a booklet to raise public awareness of the
importance of Fujimae and its watershed.

NYK Concludes Long-term Charter Agreement with
Total for LNG Carriers
NYK has signed a new long-term contract with Total Gas & Power
Chartering Limited,a subsidiary of Total, a leading oil and energy
company headquartered in France. The contract calls for TGPCL to
charter from NYK a newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier
that will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Korea and
scheduled for delivery in 2021. The LNG carrier will be equipped with
a WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine (i.e., X-DF diesel
engine) that has superior fuel-consumption efficiency and can operate
on marine gas oil or boil-off gas stored in the cargo tank. The carrier
will also feature a re-liquefaction system that can use surplus boil-off
gas effectively. The cargo tank will be a 174,000 cubic meter capacity
membrane-type tank that will make use of advanced insulating
materials** to suppress the boil-off rate (percentage of gas volume that
vaporizes during navigation) in the cargo tank and realize superior
efficiency and economical LNG transportation. NYK concluded
time-charter contracts with Total last year for three LNG vessels, so
this most recent contract brings the total to four LNG carriers and
reinforces the close relationship between the two companies.

AIDA Cruises and battery supplier Corvus Energy announce
cooperation and ring in electrification of the cruise industry
AIDA Cruises, as part of the Costa Group, Europe's leading cruise
company, starts cooperation with the world's leading marine battery
supplier Corvus Energy from Norway. On Tuesday, 20 August 2019, a
corresponding agreement was signed. The aim of the cooperation is the
installation of lithium-ion battery storage systems on board the AIDA fleet
and the start of operations on the first AIDA ship in 2020.The
Norwegian-Canadian company Corvus Energy is one of the most
renowned suppliers of marine batteries and is considered a pioneer in the
development of maritime energy storage systems. Further partners of the
project will be the companies ABB and Siemens.Following the
introduction of low-emission LNG operations in cruise shipping, AIDA
Cruises is now also stepping up into the practical use of electrical energy
from battery storage systems on board large cruise ships. Thanks to the use
of this technology, the consumption of fossil fuel will be reduced further
and the efficiency of ship operations will be increased significantly. It is
planned to incorporate the valuable experiences from this pilot operation of
battery systems on board other AIDA and Costa cruise ships as well.

Air France-KLM and Kuehne + Nagel create first direct
system-to-system connection in the industry
Kuehne + Nagel and Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, two leading
players of the airfreight industry, have joined forces to improve
integration of their electronic booking processes. In a proof of concept
that was recently brought to conclusion, the two companies enabled
total host-to-host connection through application programming

DP World PLC has announced a partnership with Zhejiang
China Commodity City Group Company LTD (CCC) to

DP World will hold a majority share in the 70/30 joint venture.
The Traders Market project will span approximately 800,000
square metres, with Phase 1 development covering about

24 months to complete. The Traders Market will create the first

Korean Air launches codeshare partnership with
Royal Brunei Airlines
Korean Air and Royal Brunei Airlines have announced the
launch of a codeshare partnership starting on September 4.
Codeshare agreements enable airlines to market service on
other airlines’ flights under their own flight number. Through
the new agreement, Korean Air will sell seats on the
Incheon~Brunei route of Royal Brunei Airlines under its flight
number as a marketing carrier, without directly launching the
route. Incheon~Brunei route is operated four times a week
(Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/Sunday). Passengers booking the
flight through Korean Air can enjoy the airline’s convenient
reservation and ticketing services, while accruing miles on its
frequent flyer program, SKYPASS. Korean Air currently has
codeshare arrangements with 35 airlines, including SkyTeam
members such as Delta Air Lines and Air France, on a total of
950 routes. Through the continuous expansion of codeshare
agreements, Korean Air will keep providing more convenient,

domestic and international air freight agreement to support the
growing demand for parcels. Marking nearly a century of
partnership between the two brands, it will benefit online

billion will give Australia Post customers access to Qantas

SIA Expands Non-Stop Services To US
With First Flight To Seattle
Singapore Airlines (SIA) continues its expansion of non-stop services to the US
with the departure of flight SQ28 from Singapore to Seattle this morning. The
flight departed Changi International Airport on 3 September 2019 at 0927hrs
(SIN time) and is scheduled to arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on
the same day, at 0905hrs (US Pacific time). Customers departing from
Singapore received an exclusive goodie bag containing items such as a
commemorative certificate, SIA batik pen and passport cover as well as a mini
notepad featuring the Seattle skyline. Customers also had the opportunity to
take photos with the cabin crew at the boarding gate. Upon arrival in
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the aircraft will be receiving a water
cannon salute. Seattle is the fourth US destination after Los Angeles, New York
(Newark) and San Francisco to be served non-stop from Singapore. The Seattle
flights will initially be operated three times weekly before increasing to four
times weekly in October 2019, bringing the total number of weekly non-stop
Singapore-US services to 31. When combined with SIA’s existing one-stop
services to Houston, Los Angeles, New York (JFK) and San Francisco, total US
service frequency will increase to 57 per week.

Together, both companies are testing self-driving tractor trailers on a route in Arizona to determine whether the vehicles can improve service and efficiency in the UPS® network. This is an extension of the ongoing commercial relationship between UPS and TuSimple in which UPS has purchased transportation services from TuSimple. The work with autonomous driving company TuSimple began with the goal of helping UPS better understand the requirements for Level 4 Autonomous trucking in its network. L4 Autonomous means the vehicle’s onboard computer is in complete control at all times, eliminating manual intervention. Currently, however, laws regulating L4 Autonomous driving require a driver in the vehicle at all times to take over operation if needed. “UPS is committed to developing and deploying technologies that enable us to operate our global logistics network more efficiently,” said Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. “While fully autonomous, driverless vehicles still have development and regulatory work ahead, we are excited by the advances in braking and other technologies that companies like TuSimple are mastering. Inc. announced that Air Canada has agreed to increase the purchase price for the acquisition of all issued and outstanding shares of Transat, from $13 to $18 per share and have amended the Arrangement Agreement dated June 27, 2019 accordingly. Based on the increased consideration, the value of the all-cash transaction is approximately $720 million. The contract calls for TGPCL to charter from NYK a newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier that will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Korea and scheduled for delivery in 2021. The LNG carrier will be equipped with a WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine (i.e., X-DF diesel engine) that has superior fuel-consumption efficiency and can operate on marine gas oil or boil-off gas stored in the cargo tank. The carrier will also feature a re-liquefaction system that can use surplus boil-off gas effectively. The cargo tank will be a 174,000 cubic meter capacity membrane-type tank that will make use of advanced insulating materials** to suppress the boil-off rate (percentage of gas volume that vaporizes during navigation) in the cargo tank and realize superior efficiency and economical LNG transportation. The flight departed Changi International Airport on 3 September 2019 at 0927hrs (SIN time) and is scheduled to arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on the same day, at 0905hrs (US Pacific time).
