Analyze Learners
I will be teaching Times Tables to 4th graders. Overall there are 20 students 11 girls, and 9 boys.
There are a plethora of different diversities within this class, there are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish, and 2
African Americans. Learning styles will differentiate based on how the individual perceives,
interacts, and responds to a learning environment. With such different cultures represented in this
class, when grouping students together I will be sure to split the students accordingly. Keep in
mind to never assume that any student already knows something, and never assume that any
student doesn’t know anything. I will first introduce my students to the poster I created. The
poster contains the beginning simple things to remember while learning times tables. Different
groups of students calls for different learning techniques.
State Objectives
My 4th graders will memorize the simple times tables chart of only numbers 1-10 after breaking
into groups and discussing, and analyzing the chart and presenting to the class through
discussion what they found is the easiest way to memorize certain parts of the chart because of
similarities or whatever the reason may be by the end of the week with 80% accuracy.

Select Methods, Media, and Materials
The groups will be separated as evenly as possible with 4 groups of 5. Group 1 will have 1
Jewish student, 1 African American student, and 3 American students. Group 2 will have 1
Muslim student, 1 Jewish Student, and 3 American students. Group 3 will have 1 Jewish student,
and 4 American students. Group 4 will have 1 Muslim student, 1 African American Student, and
3 American students. On Monday they will be given 45 minutes of class time to break into their
groups and discuss the times tables chart. Then they will present to the class what they found on
the chart and what they learned could help them memorize it. On Tuesday of this week we will
go over different riddles to remember that go along with times tables such as: “a 4x4 is a mean
machine, I’m gonna get one when I’m 16” and “I 8x8 and fell on the floor I didn’t get up till I
was 64.” Each group will be assigned a different riddle and be given 45 minutes to come up with
a dance to help each other remember that particular riddle and then perform it for the class. On
Wednesday of this week we will take 45 minutes of class time to watch several videos that are
helpful to remember certain times tables (found on: http://www.fastertimestables.com/cool-times-
tables-songs/ ). On Thursday of this week we will play several games with flash cards and
using shapes and blocks to go over the times tables that we have learned all throughout the week.
And on Friday on this week, we will have a competition: a simple worksheet will be given, and
whoever can finish the worksheet first and have all the correct answers will get a prize.
Utilize Media and Materials
Throughout the classroom there are several posters that will be helpful for my 4th grade students
while they are learning their times tables. We will use several games throughout this week that I
have stored around the room and utilize technology by showing the songs and videos on the
smart board, and we will also utilize all of our class time. When the groups present their dance

that goes with the riddle that they learned I will record them and make a neat video of them all
together for them to watch at the end of the week.
Require Learner Participation
I will discuss how each member of the group has to participate. Within their groups they will
each be held responsible for taking part in the discussion and the participating in the riddle and
dance. If they refuse to compromise and participate they will fail to receive their participation
points which are a part of their final grade for the presentations.
Evaluate and Revise
I will evaluate each member of the group and be sure that throughout the week they are
participating and working well together. I will also be sure that the class time they are given
throughout the week is not wasted. Students will also be evaluated on how well they pay
attention to other groups while they are performing and how well they pay attention to the videos
I present to the class on Wednesday. After I put together the class video and present it to the
class, we will then have a class discussion on each of the times table rules and how well the
students liked or disliked the final product.
