3. NIT UTTARAKHAND
The National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand (also known as NIT
Uttarakhand or NITUK) is a public engineering institution in the Indian state
of Uttarakhand. It was founded in 2010, as one of the 31 National Institutes
of Technology in India, and is recognised as an Institute of National
Importance. It admitted its first batch of students in 2010-11.
The temporary campus is located in Govt. ITI, Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal
district. Srinagar Garhwal is 105 kilometres (65 mi) from Rishikesh on
National Highway 58 leading to Badrinath. Rishikesh railway station is the
nearest railway station. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, 125
kilometres (78 mi) from Srinagar.
Since 2013, the Bachelor of Technology admissions for Indian students
were taken through JEE Main[5] The B. Tech admissions for foreign
students are done through Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA)
Scheme.
5. NIT SRINAGAR
National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (NITSRI), formerly Regional
Engineering College, Srinagar, is a public engineering and research
institution, located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is one of the
31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and as such is directly under the
control of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). It was
established in 1960 as one of several Regional Engineering Colleges
established as part of the Second Five Year Plan (1956–61) by the
Government of India. It is governed by the National Institutes of Technology
Act, 2007 which has declared it as Institute of National Importance.
NITSRI admits its undergraduate students through Joint Entrance
Examination (Mains), previously AIEEE. It has 12 academic departments
covering Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences
programs.
7. NIT TIRUCHIRAPPALLI
The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, commonly referred to as NIT
Trichy, is a public engineering institution near the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil
Nadu, India. It is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the
Government of India under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. The
institute is located in a campus of 800 acres and has 16 departments covering
engineering, applied sciences, humanities and management programs with a
strong emphasis on scientific and technological education and research.
The Regional Engineering College at Tiruchirappalli was founded in 1964 under
the affiliation of University of Madras, as a co-operative venture between the
Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu to cater to the country's
need for manpower in technology. The founding principal was Prof. P.S.
Manisundaram, a pioneering educationist in India. He was a graduate of Loyola
College, Chennai and the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now known as
Faculty of Engineering, Dalhousie University), Canada; he pioneered the
formation of Computer Science as a separate educational stream on the Indian
scene. He served as the Principal of REC Tiruchirappalli from its formation in
1964 to 1982.
9. NIT MEGHALAYA
National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya, NITM) is one
of the 31 National Institutes of Technology situated in Shillong, Meghalaya,
India. The classes of NIT Meghalaya were started in 2010 at the Sardar
Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat.
The institute presently functions from its temporary campus at the Bijni
Complex located in Laitumkhrah, Shillong, of the North Eastern Hill
University. The Institute has been allotted a plot of land of about 300
acres(another 73 acres are to be added soon)in Sohra (Cherrapunjee) in
the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya for its permanent campus. The
Institute proposes to construct a modern state-of-the-art campus to
accommodate all its requirements in such a manner that logistics are
minimized while the built structures are also in harmony with the
surroundings.[4][6] The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development
(HRD) has awarded the contract for construction of the permanent campus
of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Meghalaya to the Central
Public Works Department (CPWD).
11. NIT AGARTALA
The National Institute of Technology, Agartala, shortened to NIT Agartala or
NITA, is a technology-oriented institute of higher education established by
India's Ministry of Human Resource Development Government of India in
Agartala, India. It was founded as Tripura Engineering College in 1965 and
declared a National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2006. It is a technical
institute in India along with all other NITs and IITs. It is recognised as an
Institute of National Importance, by an act of the Parliament of India. It is a
leading reputed technical institute of the country along with the IITs and
NITs.
The Institute is 4 km off National Highway (NH-44) and about 24 km away
from the capital city, Agartala. The nearest rail station is about 2 km away.
Several airlines connect Agartala to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Mumbai
directly.
NIT Agartala was ranked in the 101-150 band among engineering colleges
in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017.
13. NIT CALICUT
National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), formerly the Calicut
Regional Engineering College (CREC), is a federally funded technical
university and an institute of national importance governed by an act
passed by the Parliament of India. The campus is situated near
Chathamangalam, 22 kilometres (14 mi) north east of Kozhikode, on the
Kozhikode–Mukkam Road. It was established in 1961 and was known as
Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) until 2002. It is one of the
National Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India for
imparting high standard technical education to students from all over the
country. The college is among the very few institutions in the country to host
a supercomputer of its own, and amongst the pioneers in the country to
have a dedicated nanotechnology department.
NIT Calicut was ranked 44 among engineering colleges in India by the
National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017. Careers360 has given it
the second best rating, "AAAA+", among engineering colleges in 2017. It
was ranked 20th among engineering colleges in India in 2017.
15. NIT DURGAPUR
In order to serve the growing demand for trained technical manpower, the
Government of India started 14 RECs between 1959 and 1965.
The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (formerly Regional
Engineering College, Durgapur) was established in 1960 under an Act of
the Parliament of India as one of the eight such colleges, as a co-operative
venture between the Government of India and the Government of West
Bengal aimed to function as a pace setter for engineering education in the
country and to foster national integration. It is a fully funded premier
Technological Institution of the Government of India and is administered by
an autonomous Board of Governors. The college was given autonomy in
financial and administrative matters to achieve rapid development.
NIT Durgapur was ranked 55 among engineering colleges in India by the
National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017.
17. NIT HAMIRPUR
National Institute of Technology Hamirpur is one of the twenty NITs of the
country, established in 1986 as Regional Engineering College, as a joint
and cooperative enterprise of the Govt. of India and Govt. of Himachal
Pradesh. The goals of the institute as embodied in the logo are truly
remarkable in their scope of vision. The college provide Undergraduate,
Postgraduate and Doctorate Education in Engineering, Sciences &
Humanities; fostering the spirit of national integration among the students, a
close interaction with industry and a strong emphasis on research, both
basic and applied. It has been given the status of Deemed University.
The institute campus is situated in the Hamirpur district of Himachal
Pradesh, India, at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. The campus
spawns across 320 acres and is located on a hilly terrain which is
surrounded by pine trees. The distance to campus from main bus terminus
of Hamirpur city is approximately 4 kilometres.
19. NIT JALANDHAR
The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar
(abbreviated NIT Jalandhar or NITJ), is a public engineering institute
located in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of
Technology of India. It was founded as a joint venture between the
governments of Punjab and India, originally under the name Punjab
Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar (PREC).
Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology was established in 1987
as a Regional Engineering College and was given the status of National
Institute of Technology (Deemed University) by the Government of India on
17 October 2002, under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource
Development, New Delhi. Subsequently, the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India, declared the Institute as "Institute of
National Importance" under the act of Parliament-2007.
21. NIT JAMSHEDPUR
The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur), is an
Institute of National Importance located at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.
Established as a Regional Institute of Technology in 1960, it was upgraded
to National Institute of Technology(NIT) on 27 December 2002 with the
status of a Deemed University. It is one of the 31 NITs in India, and as such
is directly under the control of the Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD). It is the third in the chain of 8 NITs established as a
part of the Second Five Year Plan (1956–61) by the Government of India.
National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur was founded as the Regional
Institute of Technology in 1960 by Dr. Srikrishna Sinha, the then Chief
Minister of the state of Bihar (unpartitioned). The date of 15 August,
Independence Day in India, was chosen for the laying of the foundation
stone. It was among the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs)
established as part of the Second Five-Year Plan (1956–1961). It now
serves as the NIT for the newly carved state of Jharkhand, while NIT Patna
serves as the NIT for the state of Bihar.
23. NIT KURUKSHETRA
National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (or NIT Kurukshetra), is a
public engineering institute located in Kurukshetra. In December 2008, it
was accredited with the status of Institute of National Importance (INI). It is
one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology established and
administered by Government of India. It runs undergraduate and
postgraduate in programme Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy
programme in Engineering, Sciences and Humanities.
NIT Kurukshetra awards undergraduate B.Tech. in various engineering
fields in a four-year programme. It offers postgraduate (PG) M.Tech.
degrees in similar engineering fields as well as Physics. The M.Tech.
degree is awarded after four semesters (two years) or two semesters for
relevant PG diploma holders Ph.D. research programmes are offered in
engineering, sciences, humanities and social sciences as well as computer
applications. As of 2006 it also offers an MBA degree.
25. NIT NAGPUR
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (VNIT Nagpur),
formerly Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur (VRCE), is
a public engineering and research institution in India. It is located in Nagpur,
Maharashtra, in central India. It was established in June 1960 by the
Government of India and later named in honor of engineer, planner and
statesman, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
VNIT Nagpur is centrally-funded and belongs to the National Institutes of
Technology (NIT) system. In 2007, the institute was conferred the status of
Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament of India. The
institute awards bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in engineering,
technology and architecture.
27. NIT RAIPUR
The National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) is a technical
institution funded by the Government of India,located in Raipur,
Chhattisgarh. Founded in 1956 as Govt. College of Mining & Metallurgy
with two engineering disciplines, mining and metallurgy, the institute is one
of the oldest of its kind in India citation. Currently it is one of the National
Institutes of Technology, which have been accorded Institute of National
Importance status by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.
The institute offers 2 undergraduate (B.Tech. and B.Arch.) and two
postgraduate programmes M.Tech. and M.C.A. in 11 engineering disciplines
and Architecture.
The first President of India, Rajendra Prasad laid the foundation stone of
the college building on 14 September 1956. Construction was completed in
1962 and the college was inaugurated on 14 March 1963 by the first Prime
Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
29. NIT ROURKELA
National Institute of Technology Rourkela, formerly Regional Engineering
College Rourkela (REC Rourkela), is a publicly funded premier institute of
higher learning for engineering, science and technology located in the steel
city of Rourkela, Odisha, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of
Technology in India and has been recognized as an Institute of National
Importance by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. It is ranked
12 in the NIRF Rankings 2017 of Indian Engineering Universities.
NIT Rourkela was established as Regional Engineering College (REC)
Rourkela on 15 August 1961. Chief Minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik has
provided the land for the same which is Approximate 648 Acre. Its
foundation stone was laid by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal
Nehru. It was granted autonomy in 2002 and now functioning Independent
under the Ministry of Human Resource Development [1] thus becoming one
of the National Institutes of Technology. During the Captainship of the
Founding Director Prof. Sunil Kumar Sarangi, the institute was transformed
to its current status, and now NIT Rourkela is well known for its research
related activities in various field of Science and Technology.
31. NIT SILCHAR
National Institute Of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) is one of the 31 NITs of India
and was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Silchar. In 2002,
it was upgraded to the status of National Institute of Technology and was declared
as Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act,
2007.
The Regional Engineering College at Silchar (Assam)was founded in 1967 as a
joint venture between the Government of India and the State Government of Assam
to cater to the country's need for manpower in technology. RECs were jointly
operated by the central government and the Assam state government.
The college was conferred with autonomy in financial and administrative
matters[when?]. In 2002, the institution was granted Deemed University status with
the approval of the UGC/AICTE and was renamed the National Institute of
Technology, Silchar. In 2007, through the NIT Bill, the Indian government declared
the National Institutes of Technology as "Institutes of National Importance".[1]
33. NIT SURAT
The National Institute of Technology, Surat (NIT Surat), formally known as
Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology or SVNIT, is an
engineering institute of higher education established by the Parliament of
India in 1961. It is one of 30 National Institutes of Technology in India
recognized by the Government of India as an Institute of National
Importance. It is the Anchor Institute for the Auto and Engineering sector
and will be training the workforce.The project is also designated as the
"Center of Excellence" in water resources and flood management and is
supported by the World Bank.
The institute organizes annual cultural and technical festivals: MindBend
(technical festival) and Sparsh(cultural festival) that attract participants from
all over the country and abroad.
SVNIT was ranked 50 among engineering colleges in India by National
Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017.
35. NIT ARUNACHAL PRADESH
The National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh (also known as NIT
Arunachal Pradesh) is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in
India and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. The classes
of NIT Arunachal Pradesh were started from 2010 in a temporary campus in
Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh. NIT Arunachal Pradesh has been ranked 19th
among the 31 NITs.
Yupia is 18 kilometers from Itanagar and 11 kilometers from Naharlagun,
which is the twin capital town and houses the temporary campus for the
institute. The nearest railway station is Naharlagun, which is two kilometers
away. Day and night bus services are available from Guwahati, which is 400
kilometers from Naharlagun.
The Indian government started 14 RECs between 1959 and 1965, at
Bhopal, Allahabad, Calicut, Durgapur, Kurukshetra, Jamshedpur, Jaipur,
Nagpur, Rourkela, Srinagar, Surathkal, Surat, Tiruchirappalli, and
Warangal). It established one in Silchar in 1967 and added two others
located at Hamirpur in 1986, and Jalandhar in 1987.
37. NIT WARANGAL
The National Institute of Technology, Warangal (abbreviated NIT Warangal or
NITW) is a public engineering institution located in Warangal, India. It is recognised
as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. Foundation
stone for this institute was laid by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on
October 10, 1959, the first in the chain of 30 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the
country. The institute was renamed as the National Institute of Technology,
Warangal in September 2002.The 256 acres of land is divided by the NH 202
highway into staff quarters, CCE and the main campus. The main entrance of the
campus depicts the traditional elegance of Kakatiya Thoranam. The main entrance
of the campus is inscribed with the Sanskrit/Telugu words meaning that the one
who works shall succeed.
The plinth area occupied by the buildings on the campus are: Administrative
Building (3,331 Sqm), Academic Buildings (34,448 m2), Library Building (3,610
m2), Students Hostels (32,642 m2), Sports Pavilion and Gallery (784 Sqm),
Director's Bungalow, Staff Quarters and Guest House (31,598 m2.) The road
network in the campus runs to a length of 12 km.
39. NIT MIZORAM
National Institute of Technology Mizoram, also known as NIT Mizoram or NITMZ,
is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India. It is situated in Aizawl,
Mizoram. NIT Mizoram was one of the ten new NITS established by the Ministry
Of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India vide its order no. F. 23-13-
2009-TS-III Dated 30 October 2009 and 3 March 2010.In view of the above NIT
Mizoram was started in the year 2010 in the state of Mizoram with an objective to
impart education, research & training leading to B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc. & PhD.
degrees. This institute has been declared as an Institute of National Importance
by an Act of Parliament. Here the students are admitted through All India
Entrance Exam- Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main).The Bachelors programme B.
Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication
Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering were started in the year
2010-11 and Department Of Mechanical engineering and Civil engineering started
in 2013-14. The classes of NIT Mizoram were started from 2010 in Visvesvaraya
National Institute of Technology, Nagpur and shifted to Aizawl only in 2011.The
classes are currently operating from Dawrkawn, Chaltlang locality of Aizawl.
College can be reached easily as Aizawl is connected by airways and roadways.
41. NIT MANIPUR
National Institute of Technology, Manipur (NIT Manipur) is an institute of
National Importance situated in Imphal, Manipur, India. It is one of the 31
National Institutes of Technology in India. NIT Manipur started its first
academic session in 2010.
The institute is one among the thirty one NITs in India established as
Institutions of National Importance with funding support from the Ministry of
Human Resource Development, Government of India.
It is one of the ten newly set up NIT's by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Govt. of India vide its order no. F.23-13-2009-TS-III dated
30th October 2009 and 3rd March 2010.NIT Manipur was declared as a full-
fledged NIT along with nine other new NITs,through An Act of Parliament
and notified under Govt. of India Gazette notification No. 28 0f 2012 dated
7th June 2012 and declared as an Institute of National Importance.
43. NIT SIKKIM
The National Institute of Technology Sikkim, commonly referred to as NIT
Sikkim or NIT SKM, is a public engineering institution near the city of Ravangla
in Sikkim, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and
has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of
India. It is an autonomous institute and functioning under the aegis of Ministry of
Human Resource Development, Government of India.
National Institute of Technology, Sikkim is one among the ten newly sanctioned
National Institutes of Technology by the Government of India under the 11th
Five year Plan, 2009. NIT Sikkim started functioning in August, 2010.
Currently it is being operated from temporary campus at the Barfung Block,
Ravangla Sub Division of South Sikkim. Ravangla campus is surrounded by
great scenic beauty. It is likely to continue its activities at Ravangla Campus till
its permanent campus comes up at Pakyong, Sikkim. It is managed by the NIT
Sikkim Society registered under the Societies Act.
45. NIT BHOPAL
Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT Bhopal), also known as
National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (NIT Bhopal, NIT-B), formerly Maulana
Azad College of Technology (MACT) and Regional Engineering College Bhopal,
is an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act in Bhopal, Madhya
Pradesh, India. It is part of the group of publicly funded institutions in India known
as National Institute of Technology.
MANIT was started in 1960 as Maulana Azad College of Technology, named after
the first Minister of Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. MACT started
functioning in 1960 at Govt S.V. Polytechnic with an intake of 120 students and
seven faculty members. It was one of the first eight Regional Engineering
Colleges. It is one of the oldest college of Madhya Pradesh.It acted at first from
the campus of Swami Vivekanand Polytechnic. Swami Vivekanand Polytechnic's
principal, S.R. Beedkar, was the first head of the institute, under the title "planning
officer". The first principal, J.N. Mougdill, joined in 1962.At the same year the
institute shifted to its current campus, which was inaugurated by the then Prime
Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
47. NIT JAIPUR
The Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) is a Public University
located in Jaipur, India with emphasis on science, engineering and
management.
Formerly known as Malaviya Regional Engineering College (MREC) Jaipur,
it assumed its present name in 2002 and was recognised as an Institute of
National Importance in 2007. It was founded in 1963 with only two
engineering branches and now comprises fourteen departments, a school
of management and allied centres.[1][2][3] The Institute is fully funded by
Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Government of India
and is governed by a Senate as per NIT Statutes.
MNIT is a premier engineering institution of India and is placed 4th by
various ranking agencies among National Institutes of Technology. NITs
along with IITs are considered elite engineering institutions of the country. It
was ranked 20th by Edu Rand and Digit magazine, 20th by Collegekhabar,
23rd by Mint, 19th by 4icu.
49. NIT ALLAHABAD
Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT or NIT
Allahabad), formerly Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College (MNREC), is a
public higher education institute located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is
one of the National Institutes of Technology, and like the rest of them, classified as
an Institute of National Importance.The college has the distinction of being first in
the country to start an undergraduate programme in Computer Science &
Engineering in 1976-77.
MNNIT was ranked 41 among engineering colleges by the National Institutional
Ranking Framework in 2017.[3] Careers360 has given it the second best rating,
"AAAA+", among engineering colleges in 2017.
MNNIT offers a 4-year undergraduate course in various engineering disciplines.
Indian students are admitted though Joint Entrance Examination (Main), while
foreign student are admitted through Direct Admission of Students Abroad

51. NIT SURATHKAL
National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK), formerly known as
Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), also known as NIT
Surathkal, is a public engineering university at Surathkal, Mangalore. It was
founded in 1960 as KREC while today, it is one of the 31 National Institutes
of Technology in India and is recognised as an Institute of National
Importance by the Government of India. It has a suburban campus, in close
proximity to the Arabian Sea. National Highway 66 runs through the campus
and serves as the major mode of access.
NITK Surathkal offers undergraduate and graduate programs in
Engineering, Science and Management. The institute has 14
departments[8] and 11 support centres with about 200 faculty members,
300 support staff, 5,500 students and 15,500 alumni worldwide
53. NIT PATNA
The National Institute of Technology Patna (NIT Patna), formerly Bihar School of
Engineering and Bihar College of Engineering, is a public engineering institution
located in Patna in the Indian state of Bihar. It was renamed to NIT Patna, by the
Government of India on 28 January 2004. It is an autonomous institute functions
directly under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
NIT Patna origin can be traced to 1886 with the establishment of a survey training
school and subsequent renaming it to Bihar college of Engineering in 1900. A
graduate level curriculum was introduced in 1924. It was renamed Bihar College
of Engineering in 1932. In 2004 the government of India upgraded the college to
National Institute of Technology (NIT) status, as the state of Bihar had lost its only
Regional Engineering College (REC), located at Jamshedpur, when Jharkhand
was carved out of Bihar in 2000. By 2002, the Indian government decided to
upgrade all RECs to NITs, with the aim of having at least one NIT per state. Bihar
College of Engineering was the first institute to be directly upgraded to NIT status.
In 2007, it was granted Institute of National Importance status in accordance with
the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.
55. NIT GOA
The National Institute of Technology Goa(also known as NIT Goa or NITG) is an
engineering institution in the Indian state of Goa. It was founded in 2010 being
one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and is recognised as an
Institute of National Importance. It admitted its first batch of students in 2010-11.
The campus is located at Farmagudi, Ponda approximately 29 km southeast of
Panaji, the capital of Goa and it is a temporary campus. The state of Goa is well
connected by road ways, rail ways and air ways with various parts of the country.
At present NIT Goa is temporarily accommodated and functioning in the Goa
Engineering College (GEC) Campus located at Farmagudi, Goa. For the
permanent campus, an area of 300 acres, spanning from Cuncolim to Balli, was
identified by the state but the project ran into trouble when locals objected to the
proposal as 50% exclusive reservation was not promised for Goan students. The
former Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar reiterated that no land will be
given to the institute if 50% reservation is not provided for Goan students.[5] The
Government of India finally decided to reserve 50 per cent of the seats exclusively
for Goan students in the National Institute of Technology, Goa from academic year
2012-13
57. NIT PUDUCHERRY
National Institute of Technology, Puducherry (NITPY) is an autonomous public
engineering Institute located in union territory of Puducherry. It is one among the
31 National institutes of Technology of India and is declared as an Institute of
National Importance by Government of India under NIT Act, 2007. The institute
was established in 2010, starting its intake in the academic year 2010-11.
NIT Puducherry is one of the ten NITs, sanctioned by the Government of India in
2009, as part of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007–2012). The institute was
mentored by National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli in the initial years. Dr.
Baldev Raj is the current Chairman, Board of Governors of NIT Puducherry.
In total number of seats available 50% of seats are reserved for the candidates
having residence/native at Puducherry state[5] (includes Puducherry, Karaikal,
Mahe, Yanam) and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (i.e., Home State).The
remaining 50% seats are filled on all India quota basis. Joint Seat Allocation
Authority handles UG admission process.
59. NIT DELHI
The National Institute Of Technology Delhi(abbreviated NIT Delhi or NITD)is a
public engineering institution located in Delhi, India. It has been declared as an
Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament of India.[1] It is one of 31
National Institutes of Technology in India.
The National Institute of Technology, Delhi is one of ten NITs established during
the 11th Five Year Plan by the Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD). The first batch of students was admitted in the year 2010-11, in three
undergraduate Bachelor of Technology degree programmes in Computer Science
and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and
Electronics Engineering. For two years the institute's academic activities were
carried out at National Institute of Technology, Warangal, the mentor institute for
NIT Delhi.[1] The institute moved to a temporary campus at Dwarka, New Delhi in
August 2012,[1] then to a temporary IAMR campus, sector 7, Narela in February
2014. From academic year 2013-14 the intake in each undergraduate programme
was increased to 60 students. A Master of Technology programme in the discipline
of Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 15 students was
introduced from the academic year 2013-14, followed by a Ph.D. programme that
started in January 2014 with an intake of seven research scholars.
61. NIT ANDHRA PRADESH
National Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh is the 31st institution
among the chain of NITs started by the Government of India. NIT Andhra
Pradesh is established in the state of Andhra Pradesh recently in the
academic year 2015 – 2016.
National Institute of Technology, Warangal is given the responsibility of
mentoring the new institute for 2 to 3 years or till regular arrangements are
made. Director, NIT Warangal is the Mentor Director of NIT AP. Two or three
senior faculty of NIT Warangal will be stationed at the new institute for
monitoring the institute activities. Coordinator, Heads of Department of
Science & Humanities and Department of Engineering Sciences will be
stationed at the campus
