3 Tips to Save Money on Your Custom Exhibit
Custom exhibits can help a company spread its name and bring in new customers from trade
shows, but custom exhibits can also cost a great deal of money.
These exhibits, however, do not have to break the bank. Often, companies pay far more than is
needed for their custom exhibits and with the right tips, they could just as easily have cut costs
for themselves. To help save money, here are three tips to consider for your company’s next
exhibit and trade show.
Buy Only What Your Custom Exhibit Needs
Some companies, especially those new to the custom trade show business, will buy as much as
possible and add numerous features to their custom exhibit in an effort to stand out and attract
attention.
A successful custom exhibit is one designed with thought that is not just thrown together. It is
not about how much an exhibit has but rather how it was built, and the level of planning that
went into its creation. For example, if your company has no real use for several monitors or loud
speakers, then there is no reason to purchase any. Or if no soundtrack or video makes a solid
contribution to your presentation, skip purchasing audio or visual equipment. Carefully examine
your exhibit and what your company hopes to accomplish before making additional purchases.
Invest in the Right Materials
Cutting costs does not always mean buying the cheapest materials possible. In fact, doing so
can lead to problems down the road, as many of the cheaper items can break and ruin easier.
Lightweight fabrics, for example, are cost-effective but do not sacrifice quality or structure.
Likewise, foldable materials can make for easier transportation and are more of an incentive to
reuse your custom exhibit. If certain parts cannot be reused at all, buy their environmentally
friendly counterparts so that they can be recycled instead of simply thrown away. Professional
exhibit design companies use a variety of materials, so be sure to ask about all of your options.
Reuse Custom Exhibit and Components
It is easy to assume that each trade show requires its own unique exhibit. After all, you need to
impress the trade show attendees and make a memorable impression. However, there is no
need to buy new custom exhibits for each show. Continue using the same custom exhibit you
purchased originally if the company feels it is still worth displaying. Change certain components
as needed and save them for later in case they are required in the future. Swapping pieces
costs much less than swapping exhibits.
While seemingly expensive, custom exhibits can actually be quite affordable in the long run. The
right amount of planning beforehand can result in more savings, a happier company, and a
fantastic custom exhibit.
