This is my 9th year teaching in the Wentzville School District
and my first year teaching 7th grade. I’m very excited to be
working with you this year!
Many of you may have had me in 5th grade 2 years ago.
I have a bachelors and a masters degree in Teaching, a
reading certification, an elementary education certification,
and a middle school English language arts certification.
I have been married for 16 years and we have two cats,
Phoebe and Gabby.
My favorite things to do outside of school include reading,
writing, drawing, painting, running and photography.
My favorite book? The Harry Potter series, of course!

We will be using the Reading and Writing Workshop model
For Writing, this means:
You get to choose your writing topics
You will work with partners to revise and edit each other’s work
You will get to publish work how you think it would work best (i.e. picture
books, chapter books, thesis-driven essay, narrative, etc.)
For Reading, this means:
You get to pick your own books to read!
You get an opportunity to share those books with friends during book clubs
and partnerships
You and I will share a lot of great literature this year
AND you will get the opportunity to read in class
At the end of each unit, we will CELEBRATE all we have accomplished
together!
5. +
You will read 30 minutes nightly and fill out a reading
calendar to fill out nightly
Reading logs will be checked weekly
You will write in your composition notebook as assigned by
unit.
Much of our assessment will be ongoing during daily class
work. When a formal test is given, I will give you 3 days
notice whenever possible.
If you are absent, please don’t forget to pick up your missed
work in the folder for your hour.

Please do not use your phone or text in class unless
permitted by me.
Appropriate use of your phone, MP3 player, or eReader will
be allowed for a variety of different activities.
Please follow the district and school policies related to
acceptable use of your technology.
I will use my iPhone and iPad in class to share research,
discuss apps that can help you, create and share
presentations, and record conference notes when I’m with
you.

for filling out the warnings/discipline sheets when
necessary.
The folder will be used during parent contact or
conferences.
